CrazyOnDigital 4-item Kit- Leather Case, Screen Guard and Reader Light for Barnes and Noble Nook

CrazyOnDigital 4-item Kit- Leather Case, Screen Guard and Reader Light for Barnes and Noble Nook
  • Top quality Leather custom made case for the Barnes and Noble Nook eBook Reader
  • Protective Screen Guard prevents screen degradation over time caused by dust, grease and scratches
  • Night-time Reader Light allows full enjoyent of product during night-time hours
  • Brand New Product
  • Comes with signature green CrazyOnDigital wristband!

Of course I didn't expect real leather for the price I paid, but I really wish they were honest with the product. The case is made out of a simulated leather material that feels very thin, but it does have a good feel to it. It's easy to handle and seems like it would be easy to clean. The case fits the Nook perfectly and I've read that it will also fit the Kindle, but YMMV. Also, the simulated leather material emits a rather strong chemical odor. It dissipates after a couple of days, but it was pretty annoying right out of the package.

The clasp is a magnetic type that seems a little "off". It closes fine, but it doesn't seem very centered and you can tell by the picture. That doesn't seem like it would be a problem, though.

The accessories aren't that great. The light is bright enough, but the metal clip seems too tight. I tried to place it on the cover, and the thin material seemed like it was in danger of ripping. The light takes three small watch-type batteries which could be a little expensive. I didn't try out the screen guard, but I see no purpose for it. The case should protect the Nook and the main screen isn't even a touch screen, so you shouldn't worry about it scratching.

Finally, the rubber wrist band is amazing! It's green! It stretches! I haven't tried it out, but you could probably shoot it at your least favorite relative or use it to bind something together. You most likely could use it as a fashion statement because I imagine the lime green color would go with just about anything. As a bonus feature, not only does it include the company's name and log, but it also includes some memorable catch words (something like life, love, honor, blah blah blah).

I was not expecting real leather just something that was durable and comfortable enough to carry my nook. That is what I found, it's no sense in spending 50.00 or more unless you just have that type of money to spend for accessories. As far as the light and the clip apparatus, I clip it onto the cover right behind the nook instead of clipping it onto the nook itself. That method seems to work well for me when it's necessary to read using the light. I am satisfied with my purchase thus far, and the wristband that came with it, My grandson is having fun with it. We can sit side by side reading our books him on his V-Tech V-Reader and me on my Nook, doesn't get any better than this.

Unlike the other reviewer that pointed out that this was not real leather, I was expecting this to actually be real leather. Why? Well, because the description very clearly stated that it would be. The description doesn't just say leather, it says "top quality leather". This isn't even close. In fact, all the other fake leather stuff that I won laughs at this because it's the worst fake leather that I've seen. I gave it two stars because it does protect the device, so it's better than nothing. But my fear is that over time, this stuff is going to start peeling and leave a mess in my backpack.

As for the other stuff that comes with it... The light I received seems to be defective. You have to wiggle the light around to get it to turn on. I'm not using this for a nook (it's for an Archos 7) so I'm not using the screen protector. So I can't comment on that. And the bracelet? Well, it's an ugly green bracelet. I don't really get why it was even included with this. But honestly, I couldn't have cared less about these items as I was just interested in the case, and it was a disappointment. I ended up buying a real leather case off fleabay for ten bux.

Just put my new Nook Color in this case and am good to go. The Nook Color fit perfectly. Handy to have screen protector with micro cloth included. Not only that, but a soft card is also included to get out any air bubbles. Unfortunately, the screen protector is too small for the Nook Color. Perhaps the standard Nook would be a better fit. Plus, an instruction sticker stuck to the screen protector itself marring it rendering it unusable. All in all, thoughtful combo of goods.

Unlike other reviewers, I have no idea if my case is real leather or not. If not, well it appears to be well made and will stand up to use. The straps inside hold the Nook well and it will not fall out. The magnetic clasp holds it shut well. I believe my Nook to be well protected inside of it.

The light works, but it is not as nice as the official light made for a Nook. That one has a pad on the clip that holds it dircetly on the Nook and will not scratch. I haven't tried the one that came with this set on an actual Nook and I doubt I will. There is nothing to keep it from scratching a Nook. It is a metal clip that doesn't stretch much and would not stretch far enough to fit directly on the Nook. It does, however, work and can be used with a regular book.

I did use the screen protector. I followed the relatively simple directions for putting it on. It is the right size for a regular Nook. I cannot, in any way, shape or form get all of the air bubbles out of it. Most of the time it does not matter, but if I look in the right direction, I can see little air bubbles throughout the screen.

As for the bracelet, I am with one of the previous poster. I have no idea why it is included in this set. It has nothing to do with this product. Perhaps they had no other way to get rid of them.

Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Color Pocket PC (Slate Blue)

Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Color Pocket PC
  • Color screen with 240 x 320 display in 65,536 colors
  • Includes Microsoft Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket Money, and Pocket Internet Explorer
  • 16 MB of internal RAM, expands up to additional 64 MB with optional MultiMediaCards
  • Play MP3 audio files with built-in speaker
  • What's in the box: Cassiopeia EM-500, Stylus, USB Cradle, AC Adapter, Lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack, CR2032 lithium battery, Connector cable, Pocket PC User's Guide, Hardware Guide

The Cassiopeia EM-500 looks like a pretty sweet deal. It can do almost anything the E-115 does, and it's smaller and faster. If you compare the EM-500 to the E-115, you'll notice that the E-115 has 32MB of memory, where the EM-500 has 16MB. Also, the EM-500 offers the multimedia card memory system, so memory can be easily expanded.

The EM-500 seems targeted at a younger market, with great multimedia capabilities (MP3, 240 x 320 TFT 65,536 color screen, excellent gamepad).

Its main competitor, the Compaq iPaq, offers more memory and speed, but less colors, and, most importantly perhaps, the keypad of the iPaq cannot register simultaneous clicks, which limits its gameplay capabilities.

If you want a good Pocket PC for both "serious stuff" and games and multimedia, the EM-500 seems the way to go. A fine product by Casio, with more memory I would have given it 5 stars.

Buy Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Color Pocket PC (Slate Blue) Now

I bought the EM-500 about four months ago. I love the Software that it came with (Microsoft Pocket PC) but since all pocket PCs come with the same software I'm not going to write about how cool the transcriber is and how nice it is to write notes down, and save them.

The things that I don't like about this model are that it doesn't support compact flash. It only supports the Casio micro memory cards which are hard to come by. This also means that you will miss out on all those cool accessories that are compact flash compatible. I also don't like the placement of the IR port (on the right side). If you want to send something, you have to turn it to the right for the IR ports to see each other.

Other than that I really like my EM-500 and I use it all the time for work and personal notes and reminders. I also love reading books on it I can read a book in bed with all the lights out so my wife can sleep.

The one recommendation I would make to all pocket pc buyers is to invest in a screen cover the screen can get scratched very easily and if you want to keep it for a while the scratches will start to add up.

I love PDA's (and computers in general, for that matter) and this is an excellent device. There was a time when I swore by Palm's pda's, but while Windows CE (now known as Pocket PC) has evolved to near-desktop power, the Palm has remained virtually unchanged. Of the Pocket PC's available, this unit is the best compromise of size and power. It packs a 150mhz cpu (more powerful than the HP Jornada, less than the Ipaq), 16mb of ram, and an amazing screen capable of displaying 16bit color. The Ipaq and HP Jornada can both only do 12-bit color at best. All of that is packed in a comfortable, small device that feels extremely solid in the hand.

While I do believe the EM-500 is probably the best unit available, it does have a few draw-backs. The miserly 16mb of ram is hardly enough... if you buy this make sure to get a 32mb or 64mb memory card to go with it. My other complaints are minimal: lack of hardware volume control, location of IRDA port... but none of these minor issues really impact the usefulness of the unit.

Definitely a great PDA, and well worth the money.

Want Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Color Pocket PC (Slate Blue) Discount?

I bought the EM-500 recently to replace my Handspring Visor. I was always more than happy with the Visor, but wanted to go with a device with a color screen and the Pocket PC operating system. My overall satisfaction has been great, but you really have to know what you're getting yourself into.

Generally speaking, my computer skills are well above average. This has turned out to be a very good thing with the Pocket PC system. I've found it at times more versatile than Palm, at times more familiar (due to the Windowsesque interface), but also frequently frustrating. Because everything's a little more "tweakable" than Palm, you'll find more of a need to get into the details and settings a bit more. If you're comfortable with that, then Pocket PC is for you. If you're looking for simplicity and ease of use, then stick with Palm, even if you're a desktop Windows junkie. Palm is certainly expandable (though arguably not as much as Pocket PC), it's just easier to do so.

A few other things to keep in mind: While the MMC slot allows you additional storage space, it's no help for program memory. Some programs require quite a bit of memory to run (PocketDOOM comes to mind), and if you've stored a lot of stuff on your RAM, then you're out of luck. A 32MB version would've been smart on Casio's part. This brings up another point ... Casio has discontinued the EM-500 line now that the PocketPC 2002 OS is out, so you may want to think about how that might affect you. The EM-500 is NOT upgradeable, and never will be.

That said, my experience with the EM-500 has been great. It's got stereo MP3 playback out of the box, a beautifully rich color screen (though difficult to see out-of-doors), and outstanding expandability. It's given me just about everything the Visor did, and more. Its size (just a tiny bit larger than the Visor) and weight (probably at least twice the weight of the Visor) weren't an issue for me, though you might consider it if you plan to carry this in a pocket. Overall, a great purchase, and I believe the best tradeoff between price and quality on the Pocket PC devices.

It has been in the shop for more than a month now. I guess that means that as of today, it has been away for service for more days than I got to use it in the first place.

I could not keep the screen aligned. When you tap the stylus on the screen, the machine should detect exactly where you tap. You can go through an "alignment" procedure to set the position of the stylus exactly. Unfortunately, the screen would go out of alignment (by one-eighth to one-quarter of an inch) five or six times per day. Every third or fourth day, the screen would go out of alignment by one-half to three-quarters inch.

It did not "drift" out of alignment; it would happen suddenly, in the middle of writing characters, for example. I could see the character being formed directly underneath the stylus, and the very next character would be a quarter-inch above or below the stylus.

So, does this happen to everyone (and everyone else just puts up with it)? I don't know, but I could not get any information from Casio whether this was expected behavior, unusual behavior, a common failure or an unusual failure.

So I shipped it back to Casio factory service in NJ, and cannot find out anything about when (if ever) they will send it back, or if they can fix it or if I'll have to live with it.

I sure wish I had bought an iPaq. Maybe I'll go ahead and order an iPaq; it will probably arrive from backorder before I get the Casio back.

This was supposed to be the battery for my Tom Tom One XL. It did not even start my GPS from the start. I have tried a number of times to charge it, even for extended periods, and it still would not start or run my machine.

I get about 50 minutes on a full charge, very similar to what the original Tom Tom battery held when it was new.

Installation was relatively easy. You will need a special allen type wrench for the rear screws. Also, since the replacement battery is smaller than the original, a piece of thick two-sided tape would be helpful to hold the battery in place (I used regular electrical tape).

If you need directions to replace the battery, there are a few helpful videos on that popular video site. Search for "replace Tom Tom One XL battery".

After about a year of relatively light use, the battery died.

After a number of years of faithful service our TomTom One battery gave out. I purchased this battery for a very reasonable price however I felt the shipping charges were a tad bit high. It is actually just a bit smaller than the battery it replaces. The packaging indicates that it is intended for use in a PDA. The connector is compatible and plugs right in. The rating on this Lithium Ion battery is 1300 mHr exceeding the 1100 mHr battery that came with the unit. There were no markings indicating the composition of the old battery but I do not believe it was a Lithium Ion Battery. It came about 50% charged and unless it does not come up to a full charge (which I do not believe will happen) I am very pleased with this unit. I hope this will help.

You will need a small torx driver to remove the cover and then with a little 'prying' it separates.

Pretty easy to swap it out and the screen protector does a good job (you can hardly tell it's on).

Not that impressed. Love the style of this stylus but it is thicker than I expected. The rubber thumb could have been a bit longer or lower than where it is positioned for better grip and comfort. (Don't these guys use a focus group to figure these things out?) It is slick which makes it a bit hard for me to use for sketching and drawing on my iPad 2. I use a pen rubber grip with it which helps but makes it a little more thicker. I will keep it anyway but I don't use as much as the Wacom Bamboo Stylus. Bamboo Stylus for iPad (CS100K)I LOVE it.

I love this case. It is sturdy, provides a good grip on my phone and lets me rest easy since I am so rough on phones.

I expected that the plastic over the touch screen would cause it to be more difficult to use my touch screen, but that is absolutely NOT the case. The screen protects without decreasing the sensitivity of the screen.

The case is difficult to get off the phone, but I think that goes more in the pro column.

I really can't see me using the belt clip. It makes the phone feel huge. Also getting it in and out of the clip is frustrating.

I would recommend the Otterbox Defender to anyone needing a heavy duty case.

What the item description does not tell you is due to the thickness of the battery and the new case-back, your PDA will need a different charger than that which comes with the PDA in box. Can't say if item is good or bad; other rave.

Mine, did not work from package, and, as I said, it made the PDA too thick for standard charger pretty much everyone I know uses. If I had a different charger, perhaps it would work. That I can not review.

Just know my point is that the battery's width means you need another charger.

SanDisk Extreme 8 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card (SDSDRX3-8192-A21)

SanDisk Extreme 8 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card
  • 8GB Capacity
  • Minimum 20MB/ sec sequential read/write speeds
  • Speed performance rating - Class 10 (based on SD 2.0 specification)
  • Extended temperature tested - -13º F to 185º F (-25ºC - 85ºC)

I'm using this card (with the associated reader) with my Canon XSI. While the speed of the card exceeds the requirements of the camera, the fast read speed is a real boon when I need to move hundreds of RAW image files to my PC. The included reader is required for this, as the SD reader in my PC cannot handle this SDHC card. Very happy, I love the fast read speed this card supports.

Buy SanDisk Extreme 8 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card (SDSDRX3-8192-A21) Now

For the professional photographer or the serious (obsessed) amateur this card is a must buy. You really can't beat the price/value ratio here. This is a fully certified Class 6 card which ensures a data read/write of 20MB/s (Class 6 is the fastest type in the SDHC profile). In fact I like these cards so much this is my second one, I have a 4GB of the same kind. If you use it with a point-and-shoot camera this will definitely be overkill but you can rest assured that it won't let you down. Great product by SanDisk.

Note: Most of us know this is a SDHC card not a regular SD. Regular SD cards are limited to 2GB, if you see a SD card that states a higher capacity be aware that it is essentially a "hack" and the card will not be reliable. I've read horror stories of entire projects gone down the drain because of those cards. 4GB and above will always have to be SDHC; therefore they will be capable of working ONLY with SDHC compatible devices.

I have several other Extreme III cards and they are great. I use on in a Panasonic Lumix FZ-50 digital camaera, and it works great in burst mode shooting. Sice the card is SDHC format, you need the included card reader when using on a computer to copy files. Small price to pay for high capacity, fast write speeds. Excellent product.

I've waited for quite some time for this chip to come down in price! If you shoot much in raw mode then you need this! I originally bought the 2gb version of this when I bought my Pentax K10d 10megapixel. With the 2gb chip I didn't take too many photos in raw mode due to it only allowed a little over 100 shots. With the 8gb chip the camera shows room for almost 500 shots but that is not entirely accurate because not every shot is the max size of 16mb so you actually get more than what the camera says you will get. On top of all of this, this chip is the fastest I've been able to find that will keep up with the continuous shot feature. I usually get 8 or 9 shots without any delay before it slows down. My camera takes 3 hots per second so I get three seconds of fast action shooting. After a few seconds of saving all those I can start all over again. I use my 2gb for backup now just in case I fill the 8gb up. I have yet to need to use my backup chip!

These are expensive but worth it if you need a true high speed card for trouble free HD video work. If you're just shooting still pics, or lower resolution video, this card is likely overkill and the SanDisk Ultra (Class 4) is plenty fast. The exception would be a D-SLR shooting rapid bursts of stills in RAW mode where this card would likely speed things up. But for shooting JPGs, or anything but full 1080HD video, you're unlikely to notice any difference between this card and the Ultra.

If you read the reviews here, and elsewhere, you'll find lots of frustrated people who got an error recording 1080HD several minutes into a video. Sometimes their card ended up corrupted, and in some cases, they even lost EVERYTHING on the card. That can happen when you use a card that can't keep up with your camera.

While it's rated Class 6, the Extreme is far faster in testing than even most Class 10 cards from other companies. Using ATTO-DISK, the same benchmark software some of the pros use, this card clocks in around 30MB/sec write speeds (class 6 cards only have to meet a minimum of 6MB/sec).

There are also some in-camera tests published that show SanDisk Ultra to be among the fastest. Plus you know SanDisk will honor the 30 year warranty unlike some of the no-name cards.

Most Class 6 cards I've tested, including those from Transcend, Lexar and Kingston, only manage 10MB/sec 15MB/sec on the exact same benchmark. So this SanDisk Extreme card is 5X faster than the spec, and 2X 3X faster than competing Class 6 cards. But it does cost more.

Also, for what it's worth, I've had cards from Transcend and A-Data fail. But I've never had a SanDisk or Kingston card fail despite getting heavier use. If you're shooting pics/video that are difficult (or impossible) to replace, it's worth spending more on a quality card.

WARNING: Anything you put this card in (camera, PC, card reader, etc.) has to be SDHC compatible (usually it will say SDHC on it). Most things made in the last few years are, but not all. If you have a cheaper or older device that doesn't support SDHC, you're limited to a maximum size of 2GB. If you put a larger SDHC card into an older SD-only device, you could corrupt the card and lose everything on it.

So it's best to experiment to make sure your device, PC, etc. are all SDHC compatible before you fill the card up with irreplaceable images/video only to lose everything by plugging this 8GB card into your 4 year old PC's 2GB reader.

WriteRight Pilot Screen Overlay for Palm Tungsten T

WriteRight Pilot Screen Overlay for Palm Tungsten T
  • Easy removal
  • Supports Palm Computing and Windows CE
  • Includes a one year supply

Did a nice job of protecting the screen from scratches, but when I removed it, the screen started acting strange. The pen movement became very imprecise, jumpy. Had to send it in for service. Peeling it off puts a lot of upward pressure on the screen, and it wrecked mine. Don't chance it. Spend your money on a better stylus and skip the WriteWrong.

If you have a Tungsten or a T|T2, this is a must have. Screen replacement is a lot of money, and these covers do the job right. They decrease glare, they are wonderfully clear, and micro thin. And they apply without adhesive, unlike those AWFUL Belkin ClearScreens and the Palm brand Premium screen protectors. Everything else out there is overpriced and significantly inferior. Trust me, I've tried them! I will never buy another brand of screen protector again!

This is very cute and made with a good material. It is made of thick rubbery-ish plastic and looks very cute (I've had lots of compliments on the pattern). It was received in a timely manner and in great condition with very good instructions but...even with the instructions, the front sticker was difficult to align correctly because of how thin the sides of the sticker are. Also, it should be noted that a screen protector doesn't really work with this because most of them extend all the way to the very edge of the sides of the phone and this sticker is there. I ended up taking off the front sticker (leaving the back stickers in place), putting a soft clear plastic case on the phone and using a screen saver for the front which has worked out great.

Pandigital Photolink One-Touch PANSCN06 8.5-Inch x11-Inch Photo Scanner - Blue

Pandigital Photolink One-Touch PANSCN06 8.5-Inch x11-Inch Photo Scanner - Blue
  • Easily scan photos up to 8.5x11
  • Scan directly to SD card and comes with five in one reader that reads SD/MS/MSPRO/MMC/XD
  • Outputs in JPG directly to PC
  • Resolution of 600dpi
  • Simple transfer to your digital photo frame or PC

I just KNEW this product was out there somewhere! I kept thinking, "Surely I'm not the only person who has hundreds of photos to scan and can't afford to take weeks to do it!" I kept looking, reading reviews, and looking some more. There was no way I was going to take 5 minutes or even 2 minutes per picture, previewing, scanning, cropping, adjusting. All I wanted to do was get decent, quick scans from old photos, good enough to post on Facebook. This little gem turned out to be perfect for what I needed.

PROS: This model will handle up to 8.5 by 11 inch photos. There is an adjustable guide to help you feed pictures into the slot, but I found I didn't really even need to use it as long as I positioned the photo up against the left edge of the scan path.

Scans are very quick. At the default setting, a 4x6 photo takes approx. 20 seconds to scan and save. Everything is automatic. You put a picture in the slot. The scanner feeds it through fast! When the light stops blinking, you scan another. I sat there watching TV, feeding one shot after another through the unit without a hitch.

One of the best features is that you don't have to be connected to a computer. If you're not connected via the USB cord, photos are automatically saved on the SD card. (The unit comes with a 1GB card, which hold hundreds of photos. HINT: After you install the scanning software from the SD card during setup, you can delete the scan software from the SD card. You'll free up lots of room for more photos. Just be sure to save a copy of the software somewhere, because I could not find a way to download it from the manufacturer's Web site.) You could take this unit to your family reunion, sit at a table with the relatives, and scan in photo after photo. When you get home, you can transfer the photos to your computer, or just pop the SD card into your digital photo frame. (I scanned about 350 photos and had them uploaded and posted to Facebook photo albums in about 3 hours.) Of course, if you'd prefer to connect and scan directly to your computer via USB cable (included), that is easy to do as well.

CONS: You have very little control over the scan settings. You choose either 300 dpi (dots per inch) or 600 dpi. (300 dpi is fine for posting photos online.)

You have no control over how the photo files are named when they are saved on the SD card or on your computer. (They are just numbered sequentially.)

You will need another software program if you need to manipulate the images after scanning (cropping, adjusting colors and brightness, etc.) The software that comes with the scanner does not have any editing functions. I recommend IRFANVIEW, a superb freeware photo editing program

It would have been really nice if the unit could have operated on batteries. Then you would not even have needed to use the power cord (included)! Maybe next model...

BOTTOM LINE: If you need museum-quality scans for posterity or super high resolution scans for enlarging, get yourself a good flatbed scanner and digital photo editing software. It takes a lot of money, time and effort to get scans that good.

But if you just need quick, decent quality photo scans for sharing via email or posting online, this may be exactly what you're looking for.

NOTE: After now doing approx. 500 scans, I have not had any of the problems with lines across the image that some reported. I do use the little cleaning swab (included) about every 50 scans as suggested by the manufacturer.

The first thing we noticed about the PANSCN06 scanner was its small size. The scanner is about the size of the cardboard tube used for a roll of paper towels. The unit is amazingly powerful and versatile considering its small footprint.

We scanned a family album of 50 various size snapshots from the 1950s and 1960s by placing the scanner in front of the keyboard with the usb cord attached to the computer. Then we got going and placed photo after photo into the scanner slot, with the dual rolls of the scanner doing the work by pulling each photo through the front and out the back. The scanning of 50 photos required less than half an hour. Most of the time was spent removing the photos, then reinserting them back into the family album once scanning was complete.

Because we elected to scan directly to the computer rather than the SD card, we got immediate feedback by observing each scan on the monitor screen in near real-time. Thus we could tell if a photo had been scanned to our satisfaction, or needed to be re-scanned due to cockeyed orientation or some other reason.

As others here have observed, there are two scanning resolutions, 300dpi and 600dpi. We have only used the lower resolution, but have no complaints. The scans on the computer screen are at least four times larger than the original photos, which renders detail sufficient to blow us away.

There has been an issue with Pandigital scanners regarding lines appearing in the scanned image. We experienced no such problem after 50 scans. Reviewers on other websites have suggested opening the scanner case to clean the scanning glass of baked-on dirt or debris which cause the lines. We are prepared to attempt this remedy if needed, but only after the warranty expires.

There is one important issue about old photo scanning that needs to be brought to light here. This scanner is proficient at revealing details, some wonderful and some not, which are not obvious in the original photos. Thus, that hairy facial mole on Aunt Matilda's face in 1956 will once again be front and center on your computer screen, even if it was not that apparent in your little 2 x 3 print from the Eisenhower administration.

In our case, we grew up with a large active family that abused photos. Thus, after scanning we found ourselves using the eyedropper and paintbrush in Photoshop to restore images. We removed a wrinkle caused by a puppy teething on a print. We digitally blotted a red raspberry jam stain from my sister Susan's nose. We whitened the image to remove yellowed aging appearance. And so on.

Bottom line: great value, quick way to archive your treasured family moments from yesteryear.

I received the Panscn06 yesterday. I read the manual, hooked up the scanner to my PC, loaded the software from the supplied sd card, and started scanning pictures into Picasa. I was able to scan photos of all sizes from 3 x 5 up to 8 1/2 x 11. It even took some Poloroids. I have not encountered any problems such as lines in the scanned photos. Today I brought the portable scanner to work and while on break, pluged the scanner into an outlet, scanned 17 photos to the sd card in a couple of minutes, and tonight, I will load them on my home computer. So far, I love it.

Bought this about a week ago and have been scanning photos all week. It's extremely easy to set up and operate, and it's quite portable. Initially the scans were flawless, but as the week has progressed, I've begun to notice a huge increase in white lines appearing across the photos I've scanned. It started off in just one location, so I could turn the photo ninety degrees and scan it that way, but the lines are increasing and are now to the point where it's simply not worth using the machine. I'll probably be returning and trying another photo scanner.

I'm an atypical user of this product -few of my scans are of images. However, I use this product several times each week for another purpose: document management.

This scanner works very well for document archival. This becomes even more true when you have a large volume of papers to scan. Here's a common workflow:

1) Receive and open mail,

2) Separate "keep" and "recycle" portions,

3) Scan all items in "keep" pile,

4) Recycle items in "keep" pile.

In a matter of minutes I'm able to process any amount mail I received that day (home use). The same applies to receipts and similar documents.

Scan quality is above average, especially considering the speed of the scans and the cost of the unit. I've used flatbed and sheet-fed scanners three times this price and had inferior results. Photographic images I've scanned have reasonable color accuracy. Graphite (pencil), ink, charcoal and pastel drawings I've scanned are also of very reasonable quality. Note that in this use of "reasonable" I am saying it is satisfactory for normal use and do not imply any hesitation of recommendation.

Two items which separate its "I really like it" recommendation from "I love it" are: no battery power option (though a home-made adapter with alkaline batteries could likely power it) and the lack of support for Legal size (8.5" x 14") documents. Neither of those items are claimed features, so I don't fault the unit for lacking them. This is an excellent product. If you need to archive a large number of documents or images, or want an easy way to regularly process similar, buy this product!

EasyStore 2GB microSD CardI scored this as a freebie with the purchase of something else. Im not a mass media junkie (my other half is) so this is perfect for my phone! if you get a cheap deal on shipping you cant beat the price (not even at walmart)

It works just great for my SD equipment. I think one should have extra SD cards on hand just in case. I would recommend.

SanDisk USB CompactFlash and Secure Digital/MultiMedia Memory Card Reader
  • Two slots accommodate CompactFlash and MMC/SD cards
  • Copy data between two memory cards or between either card and your computer
  • Easy to use: just drag and drop your files
  • Connects to any free USB port
  • Windows and Macintosh compatible

So two things happened that [were bad]:

1) I bought a laptop, not realizing that it didn't have a floppy drive.

2) My digital camera came with a secure digital card that was WAY too small to be useful (16MB), and I immediately replaced it with something practical. Now what to do with that tiny little card?

Needing a way to transfer files at home and at work, I bought this great little card reader. I love it!!

The set up was a little shaky; I couldn't get get it to work and it kept crashing my computer. After about 10 minutes of this, I put the card back in the camera, reformatted it, and PRESTO! Works great, and with XP required no set up software. I can hardly believe something this useful is also so [inexpensive]. I guess they figure they'll make money selling bigger cards.

Ultradock Access Ide Sata HDD Connect Via FW800 FW400 Esata USB

Ultradock Access Ide Sata HDD Connect Via FW800 FW400 Esata USB
  • Connect internal IDE/ SATA 2.5/3.5" hard drives VIA FW800 FW400 ESATA USBComes with following cables in box: SATA, FW800, FW400, USB

A drive dock is a generic-looking electronic contraption that allows a bare, exposed, internal hard drive to be mounted for read/write on any computer, using any interface: USB, SATA, and FireWire 800 or 400. In my professional capacity as a computer tutor, trainer, and troubleshooter, I use UltraDock or one of its WiebeTech predecessors several times each week. My personal backups and archives also rely on WiebeTech drive docks, and on their RTX series drive bays, which MyMac reviewed previously.

WiebeTech's new UltraDock v4 has built-in connectors for 3.5 inch IDE/PATA drives, and for both 3.5 inch and laptop size 2.5 inch SATA drives. With all power, FireWire, USB, and SATA cables included, this drive dock ships fully equipped to attach an exposed external drive to a computer for testing, cloning, data transfer, or any other purpose.

MyMac has used and evaluated every drive dock from WiebeTech since the company's inception early this decade. Some of their drive docks are better than others, but the new UltraDock v4 is the best of the bunch, and well worth its $200 price tag. Intrepid techies and repair shops will bundle this dock's purchase with one or more v4 Combo Adapters. Most expensive and top value is an ultimate bundle for around $800 (see below).

WiebeTech considers its drive docks to be professional equipment, as compared to consumer quality docks from competitors such as NewerTech. I don't know if WiebeTech is the industry leader in this professional category, but they make outstanding gear that is priced fairly and is supported by rapid and reliable customer service. UltraDock v4 is all metal, and has the requisite LEDs that would make any science teacher grin from ear to ear. My personal and review units occasionally need to be repaired or replaced, as will yours. Response time and results are always satisfactory.

MyMac tested an UltraDock v4 with and without several of the newest v4 Combo Adapters, using each of the possible port connections. FireWire 800 remains our optimal favorite for use with most Macintosh computers. Two of our evaluation v4 Combo Adapters appeared to be defective. WiebeTech replaced them immediately, and made certain the newer adapters were fully functional. Product development is ongoing, meaning the company is always working on better ways to deliver efficient hardware solutions. You may find that a replacement item is slightly different than the original one, which in this case has always meant it has been improved during the interlude.

The v4 Combo Adapters I use most often in real life are for pre-SATA laptop internal IDE/PATA drives, camera storage cards, and internal iPod drives. The aforementioned adapter set includes equipment to connect speedily all the above to an UltraDock v4. The physical rig looks weird, but works like a charm.

An UltraDock with or without an adapter is not elegant, and will never win any Apple Design Awards. Technicians are comfortable using such equipment, and don't think twice about swapping internal drives and their exposed circuitry hour after hour, day after day. Techies make mistakes just like normal people do, but WiebeTech's v4 UltraDock and Combo Adapters usually won't themselves cause careless errors.

Many of you will have exposed internal computer or iPod/iPhone drives in your lives, even if you are not the slightest bit interested in mounting them on a computer using a drive dock. Don't simply smash your old faithful drive, or toss it into the dumpster, or give it a nice warm bath, or leave it sitting on a dusty shelf. Work with a technician who will erase or repartition it, and then will either use it him/herself for bench testing, or will encourage you to put it to good use for additional storage. WiebeTech can provide cover plates to protect the guts of internal drives and make them almost bulletproof-handy for a life out of the box. Take note of the many accessories offered at UltraDock's product web page.

Our MyMac rating of WiebeTech's v4 UltraDock and Combo Adapters is 4.5 out of 5. This equipment is essential for serious technical work on internal drives of every possible flavor. Using UltraDock with or without an adapter, external drives mount on a Mac quickly, without any nasty or annoying error messages most of the time. If your tech bench qualifies for a superior array of handy drive mounting hardware, the modest price of this dock and its adapters is a bargain. Strong recommendation.

Buy Ultradock Access Ide Sata HDD Connect Via FW800 FW400 Esata USB Now

I had a Wiebetech "Combodock" before this one to connect my external (IDE) hard drives. That one has died in less than two years due to some internal burn-out. Hopefully this will last longer... it also offers more connectivity options not only giving me IDE connectivity but SATA as well. SATA drives are now cheaper.

I deal with a lot of video and other digital media files through my work and need to store terabytes of data AND have them backed up. Internal hard drives still offer the most cost effective storage and quick access to these files. Problem with external drives is THEIR storage, it quickly piles up into an ugly mess in your office. Internal bare drives can be labeled, stacked and neatly stored on the shelf. Nowadays 1TB drives can be bought for around $100.

My only complaint is the cost at nearly $200. That's almost 2TB worth of drives. So if you don't need that much and swapping that many drives it almost doesn't make sense.

Note: an adapter and all cables are bundled into the product box: FW800, FW400, USB and SATA. This info was missing from the Amazon product page and I needlessly bought a SATA cable to connect to the dock. Don't need to buy anything more, one will have all connectivity to whatever drive in the box.

Fellowes STOWAWAY PORTABLE PDA KEYBOARD ( 90186 )

Fellowes STOWAWAY PORTABLE PDA KEYBOARDLove this keyboard. It is by far the best keyboard I have used for my Clie(third one). What is nice is the smaller keyboards I had needed more steps to get full function. With this keyboard, it is just like I am using my laptop with one exception. Since it folds up it needs to be put on a flat surface. It flexes a little and works best on a flat, firm surface.

I received this product from the seller only to find out that the VersaCharger would not charge my Treo Pro.

The USB cable worked fine and would charge the phone when plugged into a computer and would also Sync the phone with the computer but the charger would not charge the phone when plugged into an outlet or the car.

One email to the shipper and they sent me a shipping label. I sent the unit back and got another one that still didn't work.

I am returning the whole thing for a refund.

The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is that the customer service people were very understanding and thorough.
