My notes and observations here are specifically for people who are especially interested in the experience of using the Qumi Q2 with the iPad. I have both good things to say and things to watch out for.

First let me state that I have only tested out the Qumi with the iPad 2 and not the first generation iPad (though I am guessing the experience would be comparable). I wasn't originally sure if the Qumi would be a good fit for the iPad and I was a little hesitant to make the purchase. For iPad users like myself it appears worthwhile.

Projecting the iPad screen through the Qumi works well. The projection is absolutely crisp. For 300 Lumens the image is pleasantly bright for such a small projector. While you can easily see the projected image in a room with reading level ambient light, if you are going to watch a full length movie with the screen diagonal being something like 100 inches, it is definitely preferable to view the movie in a darkened room. In a darken room, the colors are absolutely vivid and vibrant. When I first watched a movie with the Qumi, I was a little dismayed that the colors were off (tan colored skin tones appeared unnaturally red). Only after watching the movie did I find that Qumi 2 allows for adjusting color and other settings such as keystone correction. The Qumi 2 has a number of preset options for color correction. This can be found under IMAGE --> DISPLAY MODE. I found that when I set the display mode to BRIGHT, the color tones in the projection almost perfectly matched the iPad screen. The second closest match for color was when the display mode was set to sRGB.

On the issue of the focusing mechanism for the Qumi I read a lot of reviews being critical about this. My impression is that in the Qumi Q2 the issue is overrated. I found that the focus mechanism on the side of the Qumi to be perfectly adequate. Many reviewers say that unit goes out of focus quickly (because of thermal expansion) and doesn't stabilize until the unit has been on a while. I did not notice this to be an issue at all. The unit I have is a Qumi "Q2" and I am suspecting it is a second generation product. In any case, I found that i did not have to play around with the focusing once I set it. Also, I found the projected image to be equally sharp on the center and the edges. Having said all these positive things about the focus, I do have a couple of issues. To focus the projected image you have to rotate a focus ring. This makes it hard to nail the sharpest possible image. A tiny nudge up or down on the ring and the image is still reasonably sharp. You don't quite know if the image is as crisp as it can be. My suggestion for the manufacturer (maybe it's included but I haven't found it yet) is that in the settings there should be some visual test pattern that makes it easy to discern when the focus is spot on.

The Qumi has several cables. I've only used the HDMI connector cable. There appears to be one for VGA and this "should" work with your iPad if you have the VGA adapter for the iPad. Because VGA is analog, I would not expect the image to be as sharp as it is through the HDMI connector. I have used the VGA adapter for the iPad with other LCD projectors and have been very happy with it, save one exception... if you want to watch movies downloaded to the iPad from the iTunes Store and project it, you are out of luck. A stupid DRM (Digital Rights Management) mechanism senses you are using a non-HDMI device and won't let the movie play. I say this is stupid, because you can download the same movie from the iTunes Store to your laptop, use a VGA connector and a plain old LCD projector to watch the movie. I was worried that the same DRM mechanism would interfere with watching movies using the Qumi in conjunction with the iPad. Fortunately it is not an issue. Let me be explicit... If you have the iPad 2, purchase the Apple Digital AV Adapter (Model No. A1388 which has a list price of $39), and connect it through the HDMI cable that comes with the Qumi Q2, you will have no trouble watching movies downloaded to the iPad from iTunes, and view it in High Definition with a full 1080p resolution. Now that you are happy about all this I have to let you know about a wrinke (which has nothing to do with the Qumi itself)... for some reason whenever I download a movie from the iTunes Store it seems to take forever for the movie to be downloaded (something like a couple of hours -by comparison, it takes maybe 10 or 20 minutes to download a typical movie over the same network from my laptop). I don't know why downloading to the iPad is so sluggish. My advice is if you want to want to watch movies using the Qumi as the projector and want to use the iPad instead of your laptop to hold the movie, you'd be well advised to do the downloading several hours in advance.

Regarding cables with the Qumi, they are a bit short. I wish they could be longer, but I did not find it to be an overriding problem. Interestingly enough, the Qumi comes with a pair of magnetic sheaths or isolators to attach to the ends of the cable. These limit electromagnetic interference. It's nice that they include it. But they only provide one pair (one for each end of the cable). On a more expensive cable these magnetic isolators would be built into the cable. I view this as a cost cutting measure. It's not a problem, it's just something to be aware of. As far as practical issues are concerned (on the topic of cables), the Apple Digital AV Adapter detaches to easily from the iPad (this is an Apple/iPad issue, not a Qumi issue). The slightest little jiggle, and the digital signal to the Qumi breaks and entirely disrupts the movie watching. So care must be taken to make sure that the iPad and it's adapter are not disturbed during movie watching.

After posting this review, another reviewer [Thanks Ticlar!] pointed out that the Qumi does have a tripod thread mount. Removing the tiny square sticker on the bottom of the unit reveals the tripod mount. :-)

When watching long running movies with the Qumi/iPad there can be issue that the iPad goes into a power save mode. The power save mode is when the iPad screen shuts off to conserve power after a certain amount of inactivity. Normally it is awakened if you do anything like tap the screen. When watching movies, the iPad can go into this power save mode (the timeout is based on your iPad settings which you can easily configure). This power save mode doesn't interfere with the movie projected by the Qumi. It continues to play even as the iPad enters the power save mode. When you want to pause the movie you would tap the Pause button on the iPad screen. When the iPad enters power save mode while watching the movie, it's screen goes blank and no amount of tapping the iPad screen wakes it up. My advice is that before watching your movie, change the iPad's power management settings (i believe this is in the General --> Auto-Lock timeout) so that timeout is set to Never. You can always change it back to your original settings after watching the movie.

One more comment about the Apple AV Digital Adapter... while you are using it to project your iPad screen on the Qumi, it's dual connector lets you simultaneously keep the iPad powered, so the batteries on the iPAd don't run down. My personal opinion is that powering it in this way adds one too many cables (but at least you are given options).

I should say a couple of more things about the Qumi. The top of the Qumi has touch controls for accessing the Qumi's menu options. Additionally, the Qumi comes with an (infrared) remote control. But in a darkened room it is very difficult to read and click the correct buttons on the remote control even though the buttons are slightly raised. The Qumi comes with a nice little travel pouch. The travel pouch only accommodates the Qumi unit itself. There is really no room for the full complement of cables, let alone the separate A/C adapter.

The Qumi Q2 does appear to be a solid quality product. I would not characterize it as very rugged. I think they cut corners to keep the price down (like the clip on magnetic sheaths, anemic built-in speakers, and poor documentation) but didn't drop the ball on important features.

Please understand that I have restricted this review to iPad users who are unsure if the Qumi Q2 plays nicely with the iPad. To address this it was necessary to take into account how the two are used together, and identify some of the gotchas along the way.

Bottom line: The Qumi Q2 does deliver near private theater quality viewing but be prepared for some initial fidgeting/configuring to make it work well. In this context I can safely say that I am satisfied with the purchase of the Qumi Q2 and would recommend it.

Let's just say I have own an Optoma HD65, due to the lamp and power outages around here, I've opted for an LG HX300(G). I was able to live with it fine and dandy but wanted something around 720p instead of 1080p. I don't need 1080p to live since most of the stuff I watch are from Netflix or YouTube. 720p is enough for HD quality and everything else that I do.

Then I researched for more LED projectors and ran into LG HW300 and Qumi Q2. To be honest I would've gone with the LG HW300 for the DLNA so I could stream videos/musics easier without bunch of cables around my room and in my closet.

As for the Qumi Q2, the 300 lumens is enough for me. I can live with it since the LG HX300 is about the same but I would have to say the Q2 is slightly brighter. My only major gripe is having to buy adapters for my HDMI cable and component (still need to find an adapter for it). No accessories/adapters for other video inputs (for example the Wii).

The menu is really really basic. Can't calibrate much at all. Cannot change R, G, B to suit the situation. The presettings were ok. Brightness was way too saturated but not too bad for me.

Now for the good stuff, pixels are much more less noticeable when compared to the LG HW300, thanks to the increase pixels. Videos played nicely no stutter, no rainbow effect that I could notice, and the fan was not too bad (bad during silent scenes).

**One little trouble, I had a defective one prior to this review. The red led was broken or something because Mario's red under clothing was pure black. So did other images and videos where red didn't show up. Amazon was willing to replace it without any hassle. Thank you Amazon. Vivitek took awhile to respond but I took up on Amazon's offer because they were much more speedier in their replies.

Overall though, I am pleased with the product.

UpdateAfter using it for like 2 weeks. I'm actually getting quite frustrated with the projector. It appears that after shutting off the projector and turning it back on later, you are required to refocus again. If you are using it as a dedicated theater and mounted on the ceiling, you literally have to climb up every time, turn the focus wheel and not turn it off ever again. That's very inconvenient and a major flaw for me. I wish Vivitek would address something on this issue other than telling us to just refocus when it reaches operational temperature.

Update 8/27/11I'm beginning to notice the projector is not focused in some areas strangely enough. Like along the bottom right portion of the screen is blurred out and middle left. Apparently it's a common problem. Please buy at your own discretion. Dropped it to 3 stars.

I've owned this projector for almost a week now, 6 days to be precise. Being a "portable" projector I must admit, I had fairly low expectations from the start. However, I must say that the projector has far exceeded my expectations. Currently I have it set up 11ft from a white block wall in my basement. It projects an image that is 110" diagonally. The picture is crisp running an Apple TV 2 @ 720p. The colors are vivid and bright. The white balance is great! Overall the picture is very nice. As for settings, it does lack in that department. Not a whole lot of settings, but enough to get the job done.

I've noticed some people have commented on some flaws of the unit, and I'd like to explain what I've noticed and how to correct some.

1. "Greenish tint to the black and white areas" Check to see if you have the LED MODE set to ECO instead of Normal. The setting is located in the main menu under Installation II.

2. "I have to refocus it every time I turn it on" This projector has a warm up time before the lens get to the operating temperature. Typically I've ran into a 10-15 minute warm up time. Once it gets to this point, the setting you last had it at will be perfect again.

3. "Some parts of the screen won't focus and are blurry" Check the lens for fingerprints. I had a similar thing happen, and once I cleaned the lens it was fixed.

4. "It goes to sleep but doesn't wake up" I've noticed this and try as I may, I still haven't found a way to wake it up once it goes to sleep. So if anyone has, please comment!

5. "It only has a physical power switch and no power on the remote" This is true and like another user had commented, it gives the ability to toggle with a switched outlet. In terms of the remote, I also wish it has a power button; however, it's a rather basic remote and doesn't surprise me with the projectors hard switch.

6. "I need to buy new HDMI cables" It has a mini HDMI input on the back of the unit. It does come with a 1m Mini HDMI to HDMI cable. You can purchase HDMI to Mini HDMI adapters here on Amazon for under $5.00.

6. "I can't find a component cable for the Qumi" Unfortunately I can't confirm this, but I have heard you can contact Vivitek and they can send you one. I've heard anything from it's free to it's $9.99. At any cost it's worth a try. You can contact them here: http://www.vivitekusa.com/v_contactus_usa.asp

Overall, I would definitely recommend this projector! It's not a "permanent" home theater projector, but it is a great projector for media hobbyists.

The Qumi is A well conceived Projector but is premature and over priced.

After the projector warms up it is not possible to get a clean focus top to bottom

or side to side,

A standard (TRRS) av cable will not work for composite video as A proprietary cable is

required and is not supplied at the moment. Also not supplied is a component cable

Don't bother call tech support for technical information

they will not give the pin outs for the mini av jack ( Tip sound, Ring sound, Ring ground,

Sleeve video )

It is hard to believe in the advertising about 720p as 720p blurred looks

like LDTV ( 240p ) looks OK if you are half blind

5 Star price for a 2 Star projector with focus problems

Because of the floating focus this negates the projectors great features

and makes it over priced by $150 to $200

Don't get me wrong this is a nice tech toy but for $499 it should have

A uniformed focus, It's one of only two jobs A projector has to do.

In today's economy I try to get the best value for my hard earned cash and have

become more critical of products that struggle to keep up with the brand Name and message.

Wait six months to a year the market will be flooded with similar devices at

the right price point.

So Shop wisely Shop Amazon

BoxWave HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Ca

BoxWave HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Case for Slim and Durable Protection - HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld Cases and Covers
  • Form-fitting case designed to perfectly fit your HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld
  • Made of anodized aluminum that is strong yet lightweight
  • Designed with a clear plexiglass window that protects your HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld's screen so you can easily read your display!
  • Interior is padded with a thin layer of foam that holds your device securely in place
  • Accessible openings give quick access to button functions, camera, and charging/synchronization port

Two bad experiences with this case has caused me to stop using this case.

First, the lid unlatches far too easily. Fortunately, I consistently noticed the unlatched lid before my iPAQ came out of the case.

Second, the belt-clip part attaches to the case via a bolt. The bolt unwinds rather readily from the case. In one instance, it did so to the point of dropping to the ground, to the point of twisting the case, and my iPAQ scattering to pieces (fortunately, there was no damage to the iPAQ, and it still works). This second deficiency caused me to stop using it.

Buy BoxWave HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Ca Now

I had a metal case from RhinoSkin for a PREVIOUS hp RX3715 iPAQ, but they don't have one for the model 111, so I got one from BoxWave. I'm NOT happy with it. First, it has a clear plastic face that provides limited protection. I'd accidentally stepped on my old RhinoSkin case, dented the face slightly, but it saved my iPAQ. The BoxWave case wouldn't stand up to that. Second, the clear face lets me read the screen, but I have to open the case to do any screen-touch anyway, so it's impractical. Third, I don't like letting other people read what's popped up on my screen when I get a Calendar reminder when the iPAQ is on my belt.

The new case makes it difficult to reach the power button when the front cover is closed and IMPOSSIBLE when the cover is open. It also has useless access holes in the faceplate. The holes apparently allow me to touch various buttons, but again, I have to open the cover anyway to use the device, so these holes only weaken the case and allow more dirt to get in. It even has a hole just to see the "hp" logo on the iPAQ.

The belt clip isn't as good as the RhinoSkin's. I had the same type on a cell phone I lost because the clip doesn't easily lock into place.

Unless RhinoSkin provides a case for the iPAQ 111 soon, I plan to epoxy a metal plate over the clear plastic on the BoxWave case to make it stronger.

I'VE NOW HAD THIS FOR THREE YEARS. I LIKE IT LESS. The aluminum is like putty. The clip to hold the door closed is too soft and I often have to bend it back. Often have to bend whole case to fit the iPAQ. The clear plastic window came off. I'm shopping for a new case because the screw-on belt clip broke off.

I was impressed by the quality of this case in particular; it is lightweight and strong, and the inside offers a decent amount of padding to hold your iPAQ in place. My only 'con' is that you are unable to use the touchscreen through the plexiglass window, so you must open the case every time you wish to use the screen. Overall, though, a quality product for a fairly reasonable price :)

This case offers great protection for your iPAQ. It allows you to get at the hard buttons for the basic functions, though you have to remove the unit from the case to use it effectively. Fortunately, that's easy.

Note that the clear window on front does NOT allow you to use the screen I made that mistaken assumption.

Overall, it makes my iPAQ feel bulletproof without excessive bulk. I love it!

EveCase Purple 360 Degree Rotating Folio Leather Cover Case with Built-in Stand + 3 X LCD Screen Protector + Bluetooth Wireless Mini Keyboard + Universal Stylus + Mini Brush for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF300 10.1-Inch TabletI just recieved this...I am so disappointed. I was wanting a mini keyboard because i didnt want full size, since the case is for a 10.1" tablet, I was expecting it would fit in the case nicely to use like a computer. but it is about 4 to 5 inches wide... so it is going back, I wish they would have had the measurements of the keyboard on the listing. Everything else was fine and as listed. In fact had a couple stylus with it.

THIS IS WHY I DON'T REVIEW ITEMS. WHY DO WE HAVE TO ADD MORE WORDS WHEN ONE WORD IS SELF EXPLANATORY.

It really was not what I expected. The company shipped it too me extremely fast which was great. The product was not as good as I thought it would be, the blue-tooth uses a disk and the ASUS does not have one. Love the color. The cover came in handy while I was waiting on my ZAGG.

I agree with the other review on the keyboard. It is little but it would be fine if it was actually compatible with my tablet. I'm not sure what it is compatible with because it comes with a cord that has a usb on the end and my tablet doesnt even have a usb port. Guess the keyboard is just going to be a dust collector now. Also, I did not recieve a stylus or the brush. Guess you get what you pay for!

The battery, and directions, really did the job. It was easy to install and the new battery really holds a charge. The unit is now ready for use whenever I want to use it without having it teathered to the charger. It was delivered on time and at a price much below what it would have cost to send the unit in for repairs or taking it to a repair shop. If you are handy at all, you can do the job, get back to business and save a lot of money.

I ordered this replacement item as well as soldering iron, solder and a solder sucker. It was VERY easy to replace and all performed as stated.

I even received a replacement, same problem, so I returned the replacement since I had already attempted to install the first one with instructions I found on google, so it seemed better to return the one that had not been used.

Not sure if the perpetual reset I am currently experience is the result of the battery or of my installation, but my TX is currently unusable after installing this product.

I looked around the web, this product is advertised in the same manner, not sure why the misinformation. This product does not include instructions or tools.

I am uncertain at the moment about the quality of the product, but a previous google search did not provide me the positive reviews I was hoping. After I have my TX repaired I will know if the battery is at fault or not.

The battery came without the promised installation tool (small torx driver) and instructions. 'nuff said.

  • 1700/2500/3200 Adjustable High-DPI Mouse: Smooth & Precise Cursor Movement
  • Touchpad with Multi-Touch Gestures: Ease of Control

While no replacement for a full sized and featured keyboard, this little HiRO has saved the day more times than I can count.

Much like any other tool, the one you have with you is worth far more than the one you left in the car, it is this portability that makes it shine.

Plugging in the USB adapter requires no drivers on the OS side, is just recognizes the interface and goes, a Godsend for anyone working on PoS terminals or somewhat locked-down PCs.

I would advise keeping a close eye on the USB adapter though, the storage space in the rear of the HiRO is convenient, but not foolproof.

Alright, so with the onslaught of IPODs, PSPs, tiny phones, GPS' and all that stuff, I was trying to figure out EXACTLY what I wanted. I wanted something that could play videos, MP3's, cruise the internet, hook a GPS antennae up to, and play games. Eventually I decided on the dell axim x51V. Then Refurbdepot... well.. forget refurbdepot. I wound up with an iPAQ HX2750, which stat-wise, is pretty much the same. It connects to the internet pretty well, but isn't very good for "surfing" I can check my e-mail, and chat on MSN messenger, but the way the internet is, alot of websites don't support the windows mobile 5 browser. I picked up a foldable keyboard for it, and it's great to have around if I want to type something out. The battery is TERRIBLE. It won't stay charged for more then 24 hours even if I don't use it at all. After about 10 minutes of use, I have to reset it completely in order to turn it on. Syncing takes quite a while as well. HOWEVER, with a 2 SD cards, I have one for programs, and the other for songs, and a compact flash card for overflow, and pictures. I play old dos games on it (with pDosbox) I can type with it using a foldable keyboard I picked up. I have a pelican case waterproof case for it with a soft rubber front on it, so it's fine to take camping, even in extremely wet environments (I've used it in the middle of a sandstorm in Kuwait back in 03') I can bluetooth, IR, move SD cards around, and cable sync with almost any electronic device, which is very nice. I can put it in it's cradle, pop on slide show, and watch pictures of my son go by all day at work. It's very usefull, but if your looking for a toy, I don't think this is the device for you. If your a techno-junkie, well... you might like it. I would recommend getting some accessories to make life more enjoyable for you though: 1, holster. It's too big to keep in your pocket, and you can keep extra SD cards and whatnot with you. 2:some form of actual keyboard. There is a popup screen for one, but you can only type at about 15-20 WPM. With a mini-keyboard, you can type 'almost' as fast as you do with a normal one, until you get the hang of it. 3: 2 gig SD, and a 1 or 2 gig compact flash. 4:download pdosbox (it's free) if you like old dos games, like warcraft, Lands of Lore, or lemmings. 5: extra screen protectors.

I love these cables. I have the green one for myself, blue for my siter, pink for my neice, and purple for my mom. Since we all normally charge our ipods together it makes it so much easier to tell wich cables are who. So far so great with these cables. they hook up to the computer perfectly.

Hard Candy Cases Bubble Case for Kindle Fire, Black (does not fit Kindle Fire HD)

Hard Candy Cases Bubble Case for Kindle Fire, BlackI paid $39.95 for this item and expected it to be decently made for the price. Straight out of the packaging, there were scrathes on the back where the "bubbles" are. The plastic is very flimsy and seems cheaply made. Also, the Hard Candy cases logo just pops right out of the case. I haven't had it 10 minutes and I'm sending it back. Pay the extra money for an otterbox. My son has one on his ipad and it is great. He can drop the ipad, spill things on it and its totally protected. That's what I'll be buying for my kindle instead.

Case was nice for money. Gave it as a gift for a 5 year old. Nice & sturdy so when he drops it,it will be protected. Would definitely buy again!

This product fits very well around the Kindle Fire. Looks great, however you may consider buying a screen protector as well if you plan to have your kids use it.

FAVI RioHD-LED-2 Mini Projector

FAVI RioHD-LED-2 Mini Projector
  • Supports 1080p/1080i/720p resolutions, Native resolution is 640 x 480
  • Weighs less than 3 lbs; fits nicely in laptop case
  • Over 5 times as bright as standard LED projectors; LED lamp lasts an incredible 20,000 hours or 14 years (@ 4 hours a day)
  • Connections:1 x HDMI, 1 x VGA, 1 x Composite A/V, 1 x Component, 1 x S-Video, 1 x headphone/stereo jack
  • What's in the box? 1 x Remote Control, 1 x Composite A/V Cable, 1 x Power Adapter and 1 x User Guide

This is the first projector I bought so I can't compare it with the other Projectors in the market.

I love it. For the price its worth it.

Before I bought this I did a little research and this is what I found out and my primary concerns.

I compared it with newsky-health led-2 and alanson led-2 and a bunch of projectors with the same input and shape. Are they all the same just with different names? all are made from china..

The brand PMC has the same shape but different inputs and usb so its not the same..

It has 1300 lumens brightness and to US standards 400 ansi only..

-> What is its life span?

Favi website and other website says 20,000 hours of life span while some and amazon say its 30,000..

Who cares five years from now this will be obsolete and its life is good for more than 10 years if you use it 5-6 hours a day..

With all the different information out there I really don't know what is the real specs of this thing..

-> Is it bright enough?

It is good enough to watch with the lights or windows open if you are projecting it around 3ft(25"screen) ft to around 5ft(42"screen) away from the wall. The reason I started with 3ft is because that is the nearest distance you can watch from it. This is because the projectors manual focus limit is only up to there anything nearer than that will be blurry. Yes this projector's focus is manual, by turning the lens to the right for near distance, to the left for far distance. Farther than that I think a dim light is required. The more distance the bigger the screen it projects the darker the room should be. Of course the darker the room the better.

-> Does it heat up?

Nope it remains cool. The built in fan is good enough to do this.

-> How loud is the noise fan?

Hmm I would say it makes the same noise as a desktop pc fan would or any 7 inch normal fan would make..

-> Image display?

More than satisfactory. I would say great..

I have only tried it using hdmi connecting it to my laptop and watching movies using kmplayer w/ 720p and it works great and also tried playing psp 480p using a component cable works great also.

With a dark room I have tried watchin with 120" screen more than 12ft away and no complaints w/ the image quality.

I dont advice it to be use for your laptops though for browsing or typing. In order for you to atleast read the characters clearly the resolution should only be 800 by 600(standard resolution nowadays is 1200x800)which really is annoying because you have to adjust you computer screen resolution and see a lot less on your screen.

Also the 16:9 option is not applicable using the hdmi/component.

keystone works great also for adjusting the angle image found at the bottom I didnt even know what a keystone was haha..

There is also a TV input with lots of channels in this projector. I haven't tried it though don't have an antenna cant put a cable, it needs an adaptor. I find it weird that It has a tv input when it doesnt say it has one.. I have the white one I think the black one doesnt have any..

-> Built in stereo sound?

umm next question.. Let's skip this..

yeah it has stereo sounds but my laptops built in speaker sounds better.. I use my altec lansing expressionist instead and viola good quality sound..

You are not buying this for the sound quality so c'est pas grave..

What I don't like about this projector is that inorder for you to access the menu and choose which output to choose hdmi/component/tv/video/etc you need the remote control so if you lose it then this projector is useless..

Overall I'd say I gambled on buying this product since there is no reviews out there yet on this and so far I am happy about this purchase.. :)

Hope this review is useful to you guys..

Buy FAVI RioHD-LED-2 Mini Projector Now

Beware that this is a Budget projector with lot of connectivity including HDMI and has ok speakers!

I bought it for my parents outside US and they needed a big screen to watch movies. The reasons for picking this model are

1. COST (single most important factor ... compromised on the resolution)

2. LED lamp

3. Voltage regulations (220-240V).

As compared to non LED lamps, there is no issue of changing the lamp for this model. The manufacturer states 20,000 hrs of lamp life.

Tested the following inputs: VGA with laptop, A/V with DVD player, HDMI with upconverting DVD as well as xbox 360.

Pros:

Budget

LED lamp

Built in speakers works through HDMI port and have decent sound

Power brick indicates 110~240V input

Cons:

Please bear in mind that the native resolution is 640X480 .... downgrades resolution from laptop, or any input device connected. If you are looking for a higher quality image then this is NOT the product!!

Requires some dark room ... just depends on how the light source (background or external) is located and the intensity

Power brick looks and feels a little cheap

All functions works through the remote (if you loose the remote then you are doomed! therefore -2 stars)

Product quality (i.e. the construction material, plastic materials etc) feel very cheap (You get what you pay for :( )

The cooling fan produces noise (same level of noise as some of the bright lamp projectors). Don't expect this product to be quiet!

Other thoughts:

Purchased at $250. Our target is that this projector lasts for watching at least 100 movies (~ $2.5 projector cost per movie). Already watched 10 movies so far and clocked around 10 hrs of Xbox gameplay.

If you can afford to spend a little bit more ... then try to go for at least 1024x768 NATIVE resolution in projectors!

I will not recommend any projectors below 640x480 resolution even for those who have very stringent budget!

Read Best Reviews of FAVI RioHD-LED-2 Mini Projector Here

I'm having a lot of fun with this little projector. This just a very basic little projector that puts an emphasis on low cost, portability and easy setup. I have seen, though, some unfair comparisons between this little guy and more expensive projectors.

Like all video projectors anywhere near it's price, the RioHD-LED-2 is strictly standard definition. Any reference to high definition refers to the signals that this projector can accept. But no matter how high def the signal going in, the picture displayed is always 480p with an aspect ratio of 4 X 3.

Like all LED projectors, the light level projected is less than the what is available from projectors using standard bulbs. I would say the image is bright enough for a typical lighted room in a home, but business users wanting a large picture will want to turn off the florescent lights over the screen.

The RioHD-LED-2 has an adequate picture, but super high video fidelity is not the main point here. That's true of the audio too. Sound is delivered by two less-than-one-inch speakers firing down from the bottom of the unit. "Stereo" is theoretical at best. Fidelity is only good enough to understand dialog, but the RioHD actually gets quite loud. Distortion gets worse as you increase the volume, though. If you want better sound, you'll need a boom box or PA.

If stellar performance isn't the point, convenience may be. This is a projector that cooperates with you. You can throw the RioHD-LED-2 in a duffle bag, take it somewhere and set it up in less than a minute. Every input you're likely to need is available. A button press will flip the picture to accommodate front or rear projection, whether you're projecting from a table, upside down from the ceiling, or bouncing off a mirror. Twist the lens to focus, turn the keystone dial until the picture is square and you're set.

Here's what I did with my RioHD-LED-2: I borrowed an idea from a local water park. I had a pool party and set up the projector along with an old DVD player and boom box and had poolside movies. A bed sheet clipped to the fence served as the screen. Everyone had a great time. Set up and tear down was fast and easy. Poolside movies are not something you'd want to do with an expensive projector. Here's some other things you won't want to do with an expensive projector: You know that old DVD player you have leftover from when you upgraded to Blu-ray? Why not set up a big screen theater for the kids in the basement? Got some white paint? Why not make a video game wall? How about setting the RioHD-LED-2 on the roof of your car and having drive-in movies on your garage door? When the cost gets this low, possibilities start to come to mind.

Large companies will think of this little projector as disposable. For what their purchasing departments are used to spending on one projector, they can buy 10 RioHD-LED-2s. Power Point for everyone!

My RioHD-LED-2 arrived with a non-working remote, so I get the chance to report on Favi's customer service. Favi has a funky warranty. For 45 days, everything including shipping is covered. After 45 days until 1 year, Favi will repair the RioHD-LED-2 for a "flat fee." They don't say how much the fee is. In order to get warranty service, you must first go to Favi's website and fill out a "Product Issue Submission Form." Then you must wait for a technician to respond. Once you have convinced the tech that you have plugged the projector into a working outlet and remembered to take the lens cap off, you can return a defective unit for replacement. The technician helping me, Josh, seemed genuinely interested in understanding and solving my problem. He sent, by Priority Mail, a tested remote to replace mine. My remote problem took a total of 6 days to fix, from discovering the problem to holding a new remote in my hand. That includes a weekend.

I think it's pretty clear that Favi is just selling a rebadged generic Chinese-made projector. That's OK. Just understand that there's no miracle here; this little unit is no match for a home theatre projector costing thousands of dollars. It would be unreasonable to expect the RioHD-LED-2 to match the polish and performance of a projector from, say, Sony. But it does avoid many common projector problems. The quality seems OK. It doesn't run hot. The fan doesn't make too much noise and only runs for a few seconds after shutdown. You won't have to stand around waiting for the RioHD to cool before tossing it back into your duffle bag. Favi customer service is courteous and helpful. Most importantly, the RioHD-LED-2 gives great value for it's price. It's cheap to buy and cheap to run since it uses less electricity than your living room TV probably does and will likely never need an expensive replacement bulb. While the audio isn't great, at least it's there; that's not always true with video projectors. It's great fun too. Have realistic expectations, and the RioHD-LED-2 is guaranteed to please.

iPad Teleprompter R810-5 with Beam Splitter Glass

iPad Teleprompter R810-5 with Beam Splitter Glass
  • Use with an iPad
  • Has beam splitter glass with 70% visible light transmission (VLT)
  • Dimensions: 11" x 9" x 1.25"
  • Includes: Teleprompter, metal support, black background cloth, metal frame (J-Bracket), silicone iPad case protector, and connectors such as a wing nut and wing screws (2)
  • Over 2,400 Teleprompters sold since March 2011!

Amazingly this thing works great! Granted its the ipad doing the work, but everyone else is charging hundreds of dollars for noting more than this unit does for much less.

Pros

-THE PRICE! Nothing even comes close to offering a real split glass teleprompter adapter for the ipad2

-It works! With the right $10 software, you can have a fully functional teleprompter that uses mirror image projection to show everything on the split beam glass just like $1000 units.

-Glass is good, I only lost about 1/2 an F-Stop for when using the teleprompter. I did have one scratch on the glass, but it was in the comer where the camera doesn't see it.

-Hood fabric is totally black and works well

Cons

-The bracket that comes with it is simply a shelf bracket for the garage. Skip it and buy the Alpen Digital Camera Adapter for Spotting Scopes to use on a tripod.

-The rods holding the glass up are painted wood dowels that have nothing to hold them in place other than the weight of the glass. If you pick it up, they fall out. -Would be nice to use a hinge mechanism, or at least dowels of a slightly thicker diameter so they stay in with friction.

-The tripod mount hole was drilled slightly off center on the unit, making the camera lens a bit offset from the middle when shooting. Not a huge problem, but could be done better.

-The tripod mount hold was drilled at a slight angle, so the right side of the adapter was always lower than the left side. Not a huge problem, but could be done better.

-Fitting hood fabric around camera lens make it impossible to do manual adjustments (dslr lens) and the only way to keep the fabric taught is to use a rubber band around the lens and fabric. Minor issue that can be solved by trimming the fabric to custom fit.

Buy iPad Teleprompter R810-5 with Beam Splitter Glass Now

This is a GREAT unit. It's not beautiful, but it is just as functional as units that sell for a LOT more money. If you are looking for a basic teleprompter, this is it. It has SPLIT BEAM GLASS and that is crucial to a glitch free end product. The only reason for the 4 star is the mounting unit doesn't work in all situations. If they just added a slider (see below) it would be 5 stars!

The only issue I have is the mounting bracket. If you are using a small video camera, you will be fine. However, if you are using an HD DSLR or a higher end camera that sticks out much past the mounting point you will have to alter the adapter to provide more space between the camera and the unit. I just got a straight flat piece of steel and slid the unit out farther from the camera. The weight of the camera keeps it pretty balanced. You can get this unit WITHOUT a mounting bracket, but it is very convenient to have the unit mounted with the camera on one tripod.

This is not a field unit. It's designed for a lock down shot in a studio or a single location. It's not rugged, but if your needs are for a stationary mounted teleprompter unit I would highly recommend this over units costing $500 to $1,000. You can use any app that will MIRROR the text. I really like Teleprompter+. Very flexible and you can stop and start it with a bluetooth keyboard or most other bluetooth units.

Read Best Reviews of iPad Teleprompter R810-5 with Beam Splitter Glass Here

There are several different iPad teleprompter kits available here but if you don't want to fuss around with a bunch of workarounds, this is the one to get.

It comes with a mounting bracket, so you can mount the whole thing on your tripod, and your camera will mount to the bracket too. This means no hassling with weird workarounds, extra tripods, etc. you just set it up, and you're in business. It also comes with a black drop cloth to place over the whole setup, so you don't have ambient light messing with the prompter text or camera.

A couple of the prompter kits (this one and the R810-4, which doesn't come with the bracket) come with beam splitter glass this is important and worth a few dollars more, because it means more light comes through to the camera. All professional prompters use this kind of glass.

Because I'm charged with figuring out the best solution for a group of people, I also tested out several of the iPad teleprompter apps. The best so far is Teleprompt+. To use this app with the iPad, you'll want to lock the device's orientation to Landscape, and "mirror" the text, so any app you use has to support text mirroring. Surprisingly, some of the prompter apps did not support this.

Want iPad Teleprompter R810-5 with Beam Splitter Glass Discount?

If your a small scale operation and just need something to maybe once a week get words in front of people, it works as described and well

Awesome and cheap. The teleprompter is just what I needed. I am surprised that I can have a teleprompter at this cost. Get the app Teleprompter Plus for the software.

Not that impressed. Love the style of this stylus but it is thicker than I expected. The rubber thumb could have been a bit longer or lower than where it is positioned for better grip and comfort. (Don't these guys use a focus group to figure these things out?) It is slick which makes it a bit hard for me to use for sketching and drawing on my iPad 2. I use a pen rubber grip with it which helps but makes it a little more thicker. I will keep it anyway but I don't use as much as the Wacom Bamboo Stylus. Bamboo Stylus for iPad (CS100K)I LOVE it.

Original Brand New Loftek 3-in-1 Mini Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for Apple Ipad Nokia Symbian S60 P

Original Brand New Loftek 3-in-1 Mini Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for Apple Ipad Nokia Symbian S60 Phones Windows Mobile 5.0 Sony Ps3 Players Keyboard, Touchpad(touchpad does not work with iPad or mobile phone)I had a little difficulty getting this keyboard connected to my Casio Commando, but this was solved with an app (blueinput). Then I had to figure out (with the help of a youtube video) that you had to choose the input type by long pressing on the first input box and selecting the dot for macro keyboard. Once I got past this learning curve, I have been extremely happy with this keyboard and my android phone. Be aware, if you are going to use this with an android phone, you will need to spend an additional $15 to get the paid version of the app which will make it work. Rii states that the .apk that comes with the keyboard only works with android versions up to 1.5. I couldn't find a free app that worked.

The candybar keyboard is quite handy, well made and responsive.

I have used in Ubuntu, Win7 and on my Asus transformer. I made a good purchase.

I recommend this keyboard for your Asus Transformeror any tablet for that matter.

It also has a laser pointer and keyboard lights up. It also has a Bluetooth usb dongle wich pops out from the keyboard if you need to use. Good stuff!

I have had this product for a few months now. I really like it but the Bluetooth connection is terrible! You can expect >10 Feet Line-of-Sight (and I mean no obstacles at all!). In fact it will not work at any distance if there is an obstacle in the way, which is very disappointing. Also a few of the keys have to be pressed really hard to get them to work, and I wouldn't use this for doing any typing whatsoever; it is best for web browsing/multimedia etc. Other than those two things I love it, great features. Also it comes with a little Bluetooth dongle that stashes inside it. My cats LOVE the Laser too. If the connection problems are not an issue for you than I would highly recommend it. Oh and the instructions/packaging have very entertaining broken English, "The teacher must have the best weapon" haha!

ASUS Personal Digital Assistant Battery - Handheld Battery

ASUS Personal Digital Assistant Battery - Handheld BatteryPurchased from Amazon in 2006 and initially thought it was pretty neat; however, it is a PDA and though I did try to use this at work, it just was not to be. Battery life was constantly an issue, as was the screen delay when selecting items. I would give this lower marks, but this PDA is just that, and people use newer and better technology.j It seems hard to believe I put up with this thing for the time I tried to use it; I replaced it with a used iPod Touch 3rd gen in 2007 and pretty much have not looked back (Aside from my Droid-X phone that replaced a flip style phone I had)

PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader

PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader
  • Data rates over 30X faster than the more commonly used serial interface
  • Installation is a Plug-and-Play breeze
  • Simply plug the device into a free USB port on your computer
  • Windows automatically detects device and installs required drivers
  • Insert a Compact Flash card into the Reader, and double-click the icon to view the card's contents

...P>Has issues with Windows 98, even with downloaded drivers from PNY's website. Windows 98 would "lose" the drive, i.e., not recognize/detect it after a period of usage. Tried the reader with other Windows 98 machines: got the same problems.

Works perfectly with Windows XP. Installed quickly. No drivers necessary. True Plug and Play bliss.

Functional, but ugly. ...P>Anyway, just a caveat emptor to Windows 98 users: you may want to look at another vendor for your CompactFlash needs.

Buy PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader Now

Though you need the drivers on the enclosed CD if you have Windows 98, for other operating systems this self-installs when you attach it to a USB port and shows up as a removable drive. Then you can copy files from your CF card at USB speeds. An extension USB cord is included if necessary, but if you have easily accessible USB ports you can just plug it in directly. It's the next best thing to having a built-in CF card reader.

Read Best Reviews of PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader Here

I purchased the PNY USB Compact Flash Card Reader at Best Buy... After installing it on my Windows 98 system, the card reader behaved erratically, crashing the system or making the drive disappear from the system (in other words, Windows 98 suddenly can't detect it anymore). Even downloading updated drivers from PNY's website did not work.

To be consistent, I tried the reader with two other Windows 98 machines and got the same problems. Interestingly enough, it works very well with Windows XP systems (no drivers are needed for installation true Plug and Play at last!).

The transfer rate of the reader is the standard USB 1.1 rate: about 1.5 Megabits per second, slightly faster than a zip drive, since the card reader and media have no moving mechanical parts.

Side note: I was about to give up on getting any flash media and readers whatsoever since I use Windows 98 a lot. However, I have used two other flash products (Sandisk's 128 MB Cruzer using SecureDigital media and JungSoft's 128MB solid-state drive) with no problems on both Windows 98 and XP.

So, caveat emptor: if you're using Windows 98, you may want to look for a reader from a different vendor. If you're using XP (I have not tested the product with Windows ME) and don't mind USB 1.1 transfer rates, the PNY USB reader is an inexpensive solution.

P.S. I gave the product three stars because given the smooth designs of other available products (SanDisk's Cruzer comes to mind), the reader looks an oversized, uninspiring lump of flattened coal (Uh, PNY, hello? Other companies have already done the market research for you: people like silver.) A CompactFlash card is not that large; PNY should have designed a more compact (intended word use) reader that won't burst the seams of my shirt pocket.

Want PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader Discount?

Beware of used electronic items. Failed units look identical to good ones. To offer them for sale is a fraud. Compact Flash readers are susceptible to pin damage. Ham-fisted people who try to force cards into the reader the wrong way will bend or break the pins. That's exactly what was wrong with the two I received.

  • More comfortable than stock stylus
  • Smooth navigation because of the sensitive tip
  • Features a retractable design and smooth touch and feel for maximum comfort and accuracy

I actually like this stylus, however...

I purchased it hoping it would be a good match for my DS Lite. And, while it works fine with the system, be aware of a couple things.

1. This stylus, when fully extended is only 3/4 inch larger than the standard DS Lite stylus. So, it's not much bigger.

2. It doesn't fit correctly into the stylus holder. It will fit, sure, but it's too skinny, so it will not lock in place and will fall out.

Otherwise it's a nice stylus, it feels sturdy enough, but it's just a little thin.

I love my new little stylus! The way it retracts is very clever, so my hand doesn't cramp while I'm playing anymore. It is also a neat chrome color, different from my original stylus. All in all, an excellent replacement for my long lost friend.

There aren't many accessories out there for the Phat DS, and this is definitely an improvement of the original stylus.

This is a pretty good replacement stylus.

A few things you should know:

-While there are two styli in the product picture, you are only paying for one stylus.

-This stylus is for the original DS, NOT the DSLite.

-I'll repeat: this is not a stylus for the DSLite! (I didn't think it was, but there's another review on here that

complains about the way the stylus fits)

-The stylus isn't really THAT much longer than the original. However, if you have big hands like mine, every little

bit helps and I've found this stylus to be more comfortable than the original.

Overall, I'm glad I bought this. It's a well-made, quality product.

Oh, and the shipping was really fast, so that's a positive too.

The item I received after ordering this doesn't match the picture... it's too large to fit into my DS phat properly, and the so the head doesn't click down. In addition, I can't even figure out how to make it extend... again, the one I received looks different from the picture at the top of the screen.

I've contacted the seller about doing a refund, but don't waste your time on this even though the price is low.

Covers fit the tablet perfectly and spin without difficulty. A great way to protect the tablet from young hands and unintentional roughness. Looks nice and has a good feel in your hands.

I bought this case since I had a Toshiba Thrive and needed something to carry it around in as well as to view it. The rotating feature was a big selling point to me as well as the free stylus pen. When I received it I was disappointed to see that the stylus pen was about the size of my pinky. The 360 degree rotation is accomplished by physically taking it off of the velcro attachment and then reattaching it in the upright position. Not spelled out in the description of the item. I was under the impression that it just rotated on a pivot point. The material it is made out of is a vinyl and slippery so you will need to hang on to it with a tight grip. Coincidentally, I received an email offer two weeks later from another merchant who was offering a similar product but with locking tabs, charger, free battery, docking station and screen cover for $19.95!!! Oh well, the merchant was nice enough to give me a $5 credit. Word to the wise, Amazon is not the cheapest nor the place best to shop, especially when the product does not meet your expectations and you have to pay return shipping. In the future I will only do business with merchants who offer free returns since I am buying a product, sight unseen.
