Standard HX850s Handheld VHF w/ GPS
- STANDARD HX850S VHF HAND HELD DSC WITH GPS
The outstanding attribute of this radio is that it supports Digital Signal Calling (DSC). This feature provides two major benefits:
1) it supports DSC distress calling ("the red button") which is a valuable safety feature. Essentially, the radio puts out an automatic distress call which includes the GPS coordinates of the radio.
2) DSC communications. Basically this allows your radio to call a specific other DSC-equipped vessel or radio by means of a digital packet signal sent on channel 70. If the digital call is received by the station being called, the radios automatically (or with user intervention, depending on which option is selected) then switch to a voice channel such as channel 69 for the conversation. This is a really nice feature that will become more and more common and essential as more vessels become equipped with DSC. This will inevitably occur since FCC regulations require all new marine radios to be so equipped.
There are other DSC features such as group calling and the ability to poll another DSC radio's GPS location.
For DSC to work the user must have an MMSI number. These are free and easy to get from the BOATS US website.
This radio is very easy to program. Within 30 minutes of opening the box, I had programmed in all of my friends' DSC numbers and figured out pretty much all of the functions of the radio. This required only occasional reference to the manual. Mostly the menus are clear and intuitive, and even have prompts contained within the menu. Most users will never need the manual after a little familiarization. If you are familiar with Vertex Standard radios, the learning curve is even quicker as the menus are very similar even as between Handy-talkies and console radios. I found almost all of the menus and front panel controls to be intuitive, not requiring the manual at all.
This radio has a built-in 12 channel GPS. It works fine and provides the user with location, Speed Over Ground (SOG) and Course Over Ground (COG). Regrettably, the GPS does not provide for programming in waypoint locations. This is unfortunate because it would have been very easy for Vertex Standard to have included this function. This would have made this radio an excellent backup for navigation. It is still a useful accessory for navigation, but less so for the lack of waypoints. You can use the radio as a compass and speedometer, and to identify the vessel's location, but that's about it for navigation.
The radio itself is very sturdily-built and is both submersible and designed to float if dropped in the water. Nice! It comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, a wall charger, and a cigarette-lighter connector that allows the radio to recharge (via the charging cradle) from a 12V cigarette lighter instead of a 120VAC plug. This is useful on boats that may not have AC power. There are numerous desirable unsupplied accessories, the most useful being a spare Li-Ion battery, a battery pack that accommodates AA batteries (a very useful thing to have in a pinch) and two different speaker-mics.
A few dings. The lack of waypoints in the GPS is unfortunate. Also, the GPS readout is in very small letters; users who require reading glasses may need them to view the GPS output. The radio accommodates 24 MMSI numbers--more would have been better.
Despite the few shortcomings that I report in this review, this radio is deserving of a five-star rating. Right now this one is among the very best marine HTs on the market and it gives a lot of bang for the buck. Highly recommended. RJB.

I have a 32' sailboat with the latest Standard Horizon vhf radio with AIS. I also bought this radio this spring as an essential backup. I use it in the dinghy and for those occasions when the other radio is not available. I have also in the past lent my "spare" to those who lost their own VHF. I readily recommend it to those who chose only one VHF on board. This is a substantial upgrade from my earlier handheld. The GPS is quick and accurate, and with the DSC capacity and the ability to input your MMSI, gives you the ability to let the Coast Guard and others know where you are in case of emergency, or disclose your location to your friends. It floats, always a nice feature. It has scan and other programmable features. You don't need a PhD to use it, but it would hurt if you want to know everything that it can do. It is perfect for the ditch bag. The new programming requires entry of the MMSI twice, so you avoid the "two strikes and you're out" of the earlier models.
The battery feature is a bit different than my earlier SH portables and it does not accommodate AA batteries, but the battery life is good, you can charge from AC or DC and most importantly, when you need it, it works. Power and range are terrific.
I can only guess that Standard Horizon has another top-of-the-line model coming, because this was financially well out of reach until this Spring. It has become very affordable and a great value. Grab one while you can.

This handheld floating VHF radio from Standard Horizon's offering, seems to be a good Portable VHF radio. Time will tell, I have only listened to a Scan in my office at this time. It has the necessary features for the small boater. Good price from Amazon. And backed if it does go bad.Want Standard HX850s Handheld VHF w/ GPS Discount?
I purchased an HX850S radio in March of 2009. The features of this radio are perfect as a backup handheld for a boat with a standard rig or for having aboard your dinghy. The Digital Select Calling feature with GPS coordinates is something you will want in any emergency situation. And it floats. (The latest model is the HX851).I never had the opportunity to test or rely on its waterproof feature until last month (Nov 2012) when I took a wave into my dinghy while at a beach. The HX850S was floating in the wash when I got back in the dinghy. Unfortunately, the radio stopped working and upon close inspection, I found the case was cracked near one of the screws on the back.
I contacted customer service mentioning that I understood that there had been an early manufacturing problem with some of these radios that led to a cracked case that allowed water to render the radio unusable. The three year warranty on the radio had expired earlier this year, but they said that they would repair the radio for free. I just got the radio back and it functions again!!!
Obviously, Standard Horizon stands behind their products and cares about their customers what a great company (and the HX850S is a great radio)! It floats, it has DCS. The batteries last a reasonable time. The size is right.
For the price I don't think it can be beat.

SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 30MB/s Memory Card with SD Adapter - Retail Packa
When I got the card I right away put it in the phone. I wanted to see if the phone recognized it right away or if I was going to first have to format it. The phone recognized the card immediately. It shows 59.8GB available. I then took out the card and inserted it in my laptop so I can transfer everything that I originally had on my older card. I was afraid after doing that the phone would have difficulty reading the card. Well, the card worked great. All my information was in there and now have a total of 73GB available including my phones memory.
If you have a Galaxy S3 and have been wondering if this will work well with the phone, it does. I would recommend this for anyone who really wants to add a good amount of memory with good speed as well.I ordered this 64gb micro SD card because my music collection is simply too large to fit on the 32gb card I had in my android phone. This new card doesn't disappoint. You lose about 4gb due to the vagaries of the FAT32 format, but that's to be expected. The net result is for $160 I have a phone with 76 gb of space (70 useable after file system reserves), which outdoes almost anything on the market.
What is absolutely great is that the card works in some older android phones, even though the manufacturers have not promised it will. I am using it in my Samsung Galaxy S, which is supposedly limited to handling only a 32gb card, but it works great. When you pop it in, you have to format it, and after that it's treated exactly like any other card, but with more space. I've read elsewhere that the card will work with a number of other older android phones, but I recommend you look into it before buying one.
This is way better than having to buy a $900 phone because I needed more space.
A word about speed: I'm only using this card for music. I believe it is fast, but I haven't tried any situation that demands the speed, so I really don't know.
Overall, if you need the space, I highly recommend this card.I received the item and it works flawlessly in my Galaxy S2. It did however take quite a while to transfer 52gb of music.listing as class 10.
part number not for the class 10 model!
I returned it after I was sent a class 6!
I had to pay return postage
they seem to mismanage their inventory and mix up their listings.
don't trust a company that labels their product "NEW MODEL" for months and has mixed part numbers
you can find the genuine product elsewhere on Amazon for cheaper often sold by and fulfilled by Amazon itself
opinion
I wouldn't be surprised to learn they were shipping counterfeits or factory rejectsThe card is working perfectly in my Galaxy S2. Just format it in the phone and it will show up as 59.46GB total space. Be aware that having a huge SD card with thousands of MP3s will make your phone boot up more slowly, due to the time taken by the media scan.
The included card reader is compact, has caps on both ends, and accepts the micro-SD card directly (no need to use the included adapter).

JAVOedge Austin BackFlip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook Tablet (Grey)
- Case acts as kickstand and swivels for horizontal or vertical viewing
- Protects from front to back against minor bumps, drops, and scratches
- Case gives full access to device features while using a magnet flap closure
- Animal friendly materials
The only gripe i have about it is that it's just a touch velvety (mostly the inside) and i have cats at home, so the second it touches...umm...ANYTHING it gets fur and lint all over it, which is a little annoying.
other than that, i am extremely happy with the price and quality. Perfect case, exactly what i wanted.

I received the item two days after i ordered it. Very fast service. I have to say I had low expectations because I had already ordered a cover from Amazon for my Nook Tablet and was not happy. However, this cover is better than I expected. It has a a nice soft feel. I love the stand features. Both horizontal and vertical. The only thing its missing is a pocket. But otherwise I love it.I got this case for my Nookcolor because I wanted good protection and the additional ways you can make it stand appealed to me. I knew it would protect it great because I have another Javoedge case for my NC. The case is very soft and stands and swivels nicely. My only concern is charging it while it is in the case because of the swivel component it is kind of a thick case, and when you charge your NC, it can get a little warm on the back without a case, so I'm concerned about it maybe getting a little too warm. Another is that the NC fits in snuggly, but it makes the part that borders around the NC to raise up a bit as if it is just a little small for the NC. Also, I am not familiar with the type of material that is inside the case, but it feels like velvet/suede, and it attracts hair and fuzz so easily I have to lent roll it. Overall, I am very happy with it.Want JAVOedge Austin BackFlip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook Tablet (Grey) Discount?
The cover is well made and has a high quality feel to it (very soft yet sturdy and the inside has a felt feel to it). The main reason advantage of this cover is the option to stand it up in either portrait or landscape. Although there is only one angle position, that is not a problem for me so far (you can also use the cover to prop it up at a lower angle in portrait orientation, which is also a very useful way to use it).The cover fits very well and this model even folds over the nook's top and can be used to more securely "tuck it in" I don't see the nook slipping out of the cover (and the flip cover makes it even more secure). There is some a bit of a bulge in the frame on the sides, where the cover does not stay snug to the nook's sides on the front panel, but it seems to be either getting more relaxed or just less noticeable over time not a real issue that should deter from the cover's value.
The only reason I do not give the cover a full 5 stars rating is that the whole thing adds a lot of bulk. The nook with the cover feels rather heavy (after a week of not using the nook, it was handed to me and the weight was really surprising, though in everyday use it is propped one way or another and this becomes a bit less noticeable). The added bulk is mostly from the way the cover is connected on the back and the rotating plate which was made so that it is sturdy enough to make the propping mechanism sturdy enough. All together, there are 4 layers of the fabric covered cardboard (or whatever the material is in the core), which nearly double the thickness compared to the Nook alone.
Overall, I am still happy with the purchase and have not seen a more suitable cover that is as useful, or less bulky with the same functionality (the price is a bit steep, and the cheaper alternatives seem tempting).I did a lot of research looking for a very versatile and durable case and I think this has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It was a fairly new product when I was searching for something for my wife's Nook Color, so there wasn't much to go on but other cases from the same company, which all got good reviews. I wanted something that easily could be used for horizontal as well as vertical reading while using it as a stand and this transitions to both fantastically. It is nice material and seems durable but we haven't had it for very long. The cover flips out of the way nicely and overall the case fits properly with the right cut-outs for the buttons as well as the speaker. If you are looking for something that can stand for horizontal and vertical reading then this should be just right for you!

MediaDevil Magicscreen Screen Protector: Matte Clear (Anti-Glare) edition - For Amazon Kindle Fire 7
- Easy to apply: no cutting required. Protects against scratches, and leaves no markings when removed.
- The Matte surface texture reduces fingerprints and screen glare, and feels great to touch.
- Bonds firmly to screen; easily removed and re-applied.
- Compatible with MediaDevil's touch screen gloves and touch screen stylus ranges.
- Magicscreen is available in Crystal Clear (Invisible), Matte Clear (Anti-Glare) and Privacy editions.
I received 2 screen protectors in the package, however, I only needed one. It was just as easy to apply as my iPhone covers.
First, I made sure to clean my Kindle Fire with a product called iKlear which I use to clean all my computer, tablet and phone screens. Then I used the included soft cloth that MediaDevil supplies.
After that, application is a breeze. There are a few bubbles like with most screen protectors out there, but they were easy enough to push out.
I would definitely recommend this product, but something that everyone should know is that their customer service is AMAZING. I've had nothing but positive communication with them.I've always had an issue with screen covers so when my wife gave me these for my new Fire, I dreaded putting these on. The fact that it came with 2, like most covers for just about any device these days, made me think it would be just like any other cover.
I was definitely pleasantly surprised. The package came with a cloth to wipe down the screen and a handy little calendar that's the thickness of a credit card to help push the air bubbles out.
I wiped & wiped and made sure the screen was clean, but other than that, I didn't do any other sort of 'prepping'. I ended up having to push out a couple of bubbles, but it was so easy to do and I got the screen on with the first try. I didn't even touch the 2nd screen cover.
The matte/anti glare takes a little getting use to, and maybe it's my old eyes, but the screen didn't look quite as clear as it did before the cover, though I've gotten used to it and have zero complaints.
I give this product 2 thumbs up.These are the BEST screen protectors I have ever used. I have them on my iPhone, iPad, and Kindle Fire. They apply with ease and most importantly, application leaves no air bubbles! I will not admit how many other protectors I tried, but they all left me with annoying air bubbles. Not so with the MediaDevil...I have a clear, perfect screen, that is protected from accidental scratching.Purchased for my iPad and I'm extremely happy.
It was very easy to apply with no air bubbles. It's been on my iPad for over 1 year and it still looks brand new without a scratch, edge coming up or air bubbles.
I've since purchased additional ones for all my touchscreen electronics.
Excellent buy, worth every penny.

This was a Christmas present about two years ago. It's been great. The only thing I wish was that the keys were arranged in qwert rather than alphabetical. It tends to give a 'low battery' warning early, but it has a pretty good battery life. My ONLY complaint is that versus the Brother version, which I've used at elsewhere, I find pealing the backing off the tape harder.Read Best Reviews of Letratag LT-100H Personal Handheld Abc Label Maker Here
Just picked one of these up at the grocery store for about $19, and it won't actually print. Normally, I would assume user error, but the instructions are dead simple and its behavior is erratic, so I am pretty sure it is defective.More detail: I put in the batteries, put in the tape, turned it on, typed in a quick test message and pressed "Print". At first, this would cause it to shut off the screen, make a little tape feeding noise and then turn off without printing anything. Then I popped the tape out and put it back in to make sure it wasn't misaligned somehow (it snaps in nicely, so I can't see how it would be). Now, when I press print, the screen turns off and it feeds about a foot of tape, still without actually printing anything (or displaying any sort of "Printing..." message, etc.).
I read a few of the reviews on another Amazon listing of the same product. It seems that plenty of people who got working models are happy with it, but for me (and for the others with similar problems), it's a bust. Buyer beware!

Purple Soft Silicone Skin Gel Cover Case for Lg Vortex Vs660 + Lcd Screen Guard + Microfiber Pouch B
The only gripe I have about it is that you can't charge your phone while the case is on. It has an open slot where you can plug in your charger, but the rubber is thick that you can't push the charger all the way in. Other than that, I like it.

Do you see the lower photo with the galaxy at an angle that could be good for typing? To get that to happen, you must put the galaxy into the case upside down! In doing so, the holes for plugging things in, changing volume, turning the unit on and off ARE ALL COVERED UP!!! I guess I will have to cut new holes!!! Garmin iQue 3600 PDA/GPS Handheld System with Americas Detailed Street Mapping
- ARM processor powered by Palm OS 5
- Integrated Que technology, with GARMIN GPS and mapping software
- Speaker for voice-guidance commands, MP3 player, and message playback
- Voice recorder for making memos, quick notes, and messages on the fly
- iQue 3600, protective display cover, metal stylus, USB HotSync cradle, A/C power/charging adapter, quick start guide, CD-ROM with manual
Since the sw upgrade to v2, no hard or soft resets, no lost communications on syncs anymore. I've loaded many new applets and none of them have given me any problems. Be SURE not to use any that aren't specific for OS5!
What's great?
the screen is better than anything i've seen, more bright, more resolution, and is worth the tradeoff in battery life
the speed, fast processor to speed autorouting makes it fast for everything else, too
the integration with contacts and calendar for waypoints is very useful, really leverages the PDA/GPS into much more than the sum of its parts, more than what other (separate) packages can
so far it's robust, i've dropped it and still works fine
maps are very good. i took it to europe for 3 weeks of driving, including in italy (even rome), and it was painless with this device. it has every road in the country, like where i live. the system in my brother's car that cost $2K has no roads off the freesay where i live useless. it is truly FREEING to drive along and see all the possible roads you can take around you, updating in real time, if you're like me and like to explore. truly great.
I could go on for a month, I love it that much. So I'll switch to how to overcome it's shortcomings:
get the car kit, period
get a 256 MB SD card, i paid under a hundred, with that, i can put most of california, for most of a US region or to have room for MP3's, get a 512 card.
if you're not using it, cradle it. if you're in the car, put it on the car kit cradle whether using GPS or not. with these habits, i never have problems with battery life. and it charges very quickly, too. the v2 sw puts the default brightness at 50%, which is enough 90% of the time. i use about 30% when inside, and it's still brighter than many other and completely usable. don't enable waas, no satallites anyway and 20 feet is close enough for me, and helps battery. turn off IR receiver. set auto off to 30sec. it's instant on anyway. with these changes, battery life isn't an issue for me.
i got the small sync cable with the travel kit, but the aftermarket sync cables will also charge from the USB so might be better, check it out, targus and belkin, among others.
get a protective case. i got one for a toshiba pocketpc that's leather with belt clip. fits perfectly, and now i don't worry about dropping it
the antenna works best when the FLAT top face is toward the sky, NOT when it's end is pointed at the sky. used this way, it locks under a minute even when moving for me, and never loses when moving after lock unless i'm in a sea of 3+ story buildings.
i got the external antenna, and now i can take it off the car plate to use it and it still keeps the satellites, this is a nice to have but is not very expensive
people have said the maps are worth $100. in reality the autorouting map sets are $300. i know, i bought it for Europe, but i DO NOT REGRET IT.
sometimes it fails to find things that are in the database, but this is rare. r2 sw may have helped but haven't tested yet. there are a few map bugaboos, like a small break in the road that i routes you around, but these are rare.
don't load any apps that don't say OS5 compatible
use screen protectors the ones for Sony Clie NX70's fit perfectly (don't get sony brand, too expensive)
upgrade the OS to v2 immediately
have patience if you've not used a PDA or Palm before, you will get through it. the downloadable PDF manual is very good. there are dedicated sites like palmgear with lots of useful info on getting along with your PDA, as well as software reviews and downloads.
they have posted track log and waypoint conduits now, as well a map loader update. Garmin is seriously supporting this device, don't give up on it.
Bottom line is Garmin has realized the market for these is bigger than the combined market for all of their other products. So I do believe they will support the product, and will come out with even better ones in the future. But bottom line is it works great for me, it was a bargain considering what it does, and I wouldn't wait for an upgrade and have to live without it. It's a great GPS, and with the v2 upgrade, a great PDA. it's definitely the most useful device in my life today, moreso than my computer. i'm the kind of person that never gets lost, but i never leave the house w/o my ique now. it's fun, it's useful, and it makes life easier.
Buy Garmin iQue 3600 PDA/GPS Handheld System with Americas Detailed Street Mapping Now
I installed the software per the user's guide and used it on the first day I got it (12/23/03). My wife was driving and I was reading about it in the car. I had the GPS on and was amazed at how the map moved (Track up mode) as we moved. It was accurate re: driving speed, location, odometer, etc. Then I tried the Que Route mode and tried reaching a destination. The thing kept saying "Off Route, recalculating" over, and over, and over again. I was pissed! Then I read some reviews and learned that I had to go to the Garmin website (http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp) to download "release 2" and "release 2 patch 1." After following the detailed instructions and re-trying the Que route, the navigation was perfect. No problems whatsoever. The unit is occasionally inaccurate as to street addresses, and is better with known intersections (gets you there within 10 feet accuracy). Some street addresses were right on the money, but others were a few houses off. Overall, however, it's a tremendous tool and a very fun toy.Definitely get the 256 MB expansion card at a minimum and you absolutely need the Auto-Nav travel kit.The new iQue 3600 from Garmin is truly amazing. For a very attractive price, you get a powerful Palm OS 5-based PDA that sports a screaming 200 MHz Motorola DragonBall MXL ARM 9 processor, 32MB of memory (some of which is reserved for system operations), and a nice 320x480 high-color screen, the highest resolution I've seen on a palmtop. The iQue 3600 weighs in at a little over 5 ounces with the built-in LiIon battery, and it's only slightly bigger than a Zire 71, and feels good in either hand.
So you can use it as a fast Palm PDA, but the true beauty of the iQue is its built-in GPS function. When you are out in the open -GPS won't work indoors or in a dense forest since the satellite signal can't get to you -the iQue picks up both GPS and WAAS signals (WAAS is a system that supplements GPS, the way I understand it) and, in less than a minute, tell you your early coordinates. Coupled with a mapping program (a very basic one is included), the iQue will tell you where on earth you are, accurate to about 10 feet! For a first-time GPS user like me, the result simply blows me away. Obviously if you don't travel a lot, or live in a big city like New York, GPS is of very little use. But for the road warrior as well as fancy gadget lover (I'm the latter), this is a must-have.
Both the GPS and the bright, large color screen suck battery juice like a puppy in Houston, so battery is weak on the iQue, about the only gripe one would have about this wonderfully implemented product. With GPS on continuously and screen set to mid-level brightness and running a mapping program off the secure digital card, you'll run out in about an hour! That's not a typo or exaggeration. If you can do without sophisticated map software and turn off backlight, you can probably manage for about 3-4 hours. If you don't use GPS -but you got this really for the GPS, didn't you? -using the Palm part for an hour a day will last you about 3 days with backlight on. Which is not totally bad compared to Pocket PCs, hehehe...
In short, the iQue does exceptionally well what it was designed to do. Granted GPS as a whole can be improved, but Garmin has done an admirable job with a well designed, well made product and the price should tempt every GPS user out there.

I don't know how I lived without this unit, well, after I figured it out anyway. I was amazed how the Ique 3600 worked in my car, boat and on my desk, it's even a Palm Pilot too. Now I plan my vacations, not by computer/web maps, but on my Ique 3600. OK, it did take me about 1 hour of fast reading to figure it out well enough to get me to work and back the same day. Now I can navigate at nite and in unfamiliar territory. When I go off-route on purpose or accidentally, it will w/i one block reroute me generally w/o sending me back to the old route and often picks a better route. The manual is a little sketchy and vague, like no description of the location of the on/off button! But otherwise written so a computer geek would understand. I am still struggling with it.
Garmin has a help line and e-mail which helps too. For example I did not know how to keep my location on the screen without constantly dragging the map with the stylus. Now I just hit the black triangle (lower center) and the map now always shows my location in the center of the screen. Garmin has new software updates for the maps and the Ique system on their web site.
The voice command is the main selling point for me since my wife can't read maps too well, now I have another female voice in my car saying: "In .2 of a mile turn right." Shortly thereafter the female voice says: "In 200 feet turn right." At the same time at the top of the screen, it says: "Turn right on 5th Street." Wow, how do it know?
This device also gives you the time of arrival at your destination, altitude, and many other geeky items we need to know and wish we had know all these years. So far I am just practicing, but next week it's off to unfamiliar Seattle and a fun adventure with my new toy. Oh, it also is programed with restuarants, hotels, etc, not only their locations but their phone numbers as well! Get the extra memory chip, you'll need it and the auto navigator kit for your car/boat. I give it a 5+.The previous reviews cover most of the bases, but I had to chime in. I bought mine from Amazon and just finished a drive across the country with it. The unit is not perfect, but I just love the look-and-feel and the dashboard mount, and the GPS functions are hugely more useful than I ever imagined...even if I know where I'm going. We needed a couple of resets here and there, found a few instances of old or missing map data, found some undocumented clumsiness in the interface, had to buy an SD card to store the maps, mysteriously lost voice navigation for awhile, and a few other minor annoyances. But it is immediately apparent that GPS handheld computers are the future, and this product is a killer if Garmin keeps working on the software and maps. This is my first use of a GPS, and I have my own wish list:
Add a plug-in interface so third parties can integrate patches and useful info (e.g., restaurant ratings, road construction points, route descriptions) with the maps.
Find points of interest along my route, not just near my current location or destination.
Show distances to selected locations by the shortest route, not as the crow flies (very dangerous for estimating when you need to get gas).
I could go on. But for a first-generation product, the ique is awesome. Garmin is serious, and it will only get better from here, especially if they take the critical steps to create a competitive market for map patches and extensions. The maps are the weak link, since the US does not yet have the full infrastructure needed to maintain accurate maps in a timely fashion (e.g., as roads are built and businesses come and go).

Acer A700 Folio Case, Stand, Cover for Acer Iconia Tab A700, A510 10.1" (Black)
Buy Acer A700 Folio Case, Stand, Cover for Acer Iconia Tab A700, A510 10.1" (Black) Now
First off, I didn't purchase this case, it came with the used Acer Iconia I bought. So, its been used, but I don't think my issues of it relate to that.It holds the tablet well, and when closed its comfortable. When I got it it had some fraying on the sides and a couple of loose threads, but I have no idea what the previous owner did to it. (Although, the tablet is in pristine shape.)
However, when using the stand, I always have to stop, take a second, and slide the flap into the little lip in the back. I can't do this without looking, and it usually takes two hands (one hold the back flap, one holding the lip open to slide the flap in). That gets old quick.
My main issue with the cover is that it hurts my hands. Trying to hold the tablet in my left hand in portrait mode with the flap around the back is just plan uncomfortable. I am a lady and my hands are small. Since there is nothing to hold the flap folded back, I have to squeeze pretty hard with my hand to keep things from sliding against each other or coming unfolded. After a while that cramps my hand.
Overall its a decent looking case, and for someone with larger hands, or who intends to lap hold it I think its good.

PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader
- Data rates over 30X faster than the more commonly used serial interface
- Installation is a Plug-and-Play breeze
- Simply plug the device into a free USB port on your computer
- Windows automatically detects device and installs required drivers
- Insert a Compact Flash card into the Reader, and double-click the icon to view the card's contents
Works perfectly with Windows XP. Installed quickly. No drivers necessary. True Plug and Play bliss.
Functional, but ugly. ...P>Anyway, just a caveat emptor to Windows 98 users: you may want to look at another vendor for your CompactFlash needs.

Though you need the drivers on the enclosed CD if you have Windows 98, for other operating systems this self-installs when you attach it to a USB port and shows up as a removable drive. Then you can copy files from your CF card at USB speeds. An extension USB cord is included if necessary, but if you have easily accessible USB ports you can just plug it in directly. It's the next best thing to having a built-in CF card reader.Read Best Reviews of PNY Single Slot USB CompactFlash Flash Memory Card Reader Here
I purchased the PNY USB Compact Flash Card Reader at Best Buy... After installing it on my Windows 98 system, the card reader behaved erratically, crashing the system or making the drive disappear from the system (in other words, Windows 98 suddenly can't detect it anymore). Even downloading updated drivers from PNY's website did not work.To be consistent, I tried the reader with two other Windows 98 machines and got the same problems. Interestingly enough, it works very well with Windows XP systems (no drivers are needed for installation true Plug and Play at last!).
The transfer rate of the reader is the standard USB 1.1 rate: about 1.5 Megabits per second, slightly faster than a zip drive, since the card reader and media have no moving mechanical parts.
Side note: I was about to give up on getting any flash media and readers whatsoever since I use Windows 98 a lot. However, I have used two other flash products (Sandisk's 128 MB Cruzer using SecureDigital media and JungSoft's 128MB solid-state drive) with no problems on both Windows 98 and XP.
So, caveat emptor: if you're using Windows 98, you may want to look for a reader from a different vendor. If you're using XP (I have not tested the product with Windows ME) and don't mind USB 1.1 transfer rates, the PNY USB reader is an inexpensive solution.
P.S. I gave the product three stars because given the smooth designs of other available products (SanDisk's Cruzer comes to mind), the reader looks an oversized, uninspiring lump of flattened coal (Uh, PNY, hello? Other companies have already done the market research for you: people like silver.) A CompactFlash card is not that large; PNY should have designed a more compact (intended word use) reader that won't burst the seams of my shirt pocket.

Beware of used electronic items. Failed units look identical to good ones. To offer them for sale is a fraud. Compact Flash readers are susceptible to pin damage. Ham-fisted people who try to force cards into the reader the wrong way will bend or break the pins. That's exactly what was wrong with the two I received.Sunday, August 25, 2013

I have three of these cradles all in different colors. This one came with my visor and i think it is the coolest color(it also matches my visor). I have one in my office, one in my dorm room, and one in my house at home and they all help out a great deal. they should just have a feature where they can plug into the wall so if you really need to charge and you dont have a cpu you can do it, also a dc adapter for the car.Read Best Reviews of Handspring Visor USB HotSync Cradle (Ice) Here
I don't like surveys that tell me how much I have to say you can guess what my six more required words are.The button was frozen so I could not do HotSynchs. It ended up in the trash.I just purchased an used USB Docking Cradle (Clear)for the Handspring Visor. The product arrived in a timely fashion, and the cradle worked without a hitch. I purchased the item from Glenn Krocheski-Meyer via Amazon. He really went the extra mile to make sure that I was making the correct purchase decision, and he followed up to confirm receipt. All this for a $4.99 item. Nice work Glenn.
