Waste of money and time. The screen protector is slightly large, so it never fits smoothly into the frame, resulting in a large bubble on the side. Impossible to press down completely. It is too glossy and reflective, so makes the Nook worse to view in sunlight, bright light. The bubbles are all over the screen, making reflections even worse. I took it off immediately. I'll just try and be careful with my Nook, rather than use this terribly designed screen protector. I believe you will be disappointed with this product.Wednesday, August 27, 2014

JAVOedge Austin BackFlip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook Tablet (Grey)
- Case acts as kickstand and swivels for horizontal or vertical viewing
- Protects from front to back against minor bumps, drops, and scratches
- Case gives full access to device features while using a magnet flap closure
- Animal friendly materials
The only gripe i have about it is that it's just a touch velvety (mostly the inside) and i have cats at home, so the second it touches...umm...ANYTHING it gets fur and lint all over it, which is a little annoying.
other than that, i am extremely happy with the price and quality. Perfect case, exactly what i wanted.
Buy JAVOedge Austin BackFlip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook Tablet (Grey) Now
I received the item two days after i ordered it. Very fast service. I have to say I had low expectations because I had already ordered a cover from Amazon for my Nook Tablet and was not happy. However, this cover is better than I expected. It has a a nice soft feel. I love the stand features. Both horizontal and vertical. The only thing its missing is a pocket. But otherwise I love it.I got this case for my Nookcolor because I wanted good protection and the additional ways you can make it stand appealed to me. I knew it would protect it great because I have another Javoedge case for my NC. The case is very soft and stands and swivels nicely. My only concern is charging it while it is in the case because of the swivel component it is kind of a thick case, and when you charge your NC, it can get a little warm on the back without a case, so I'm concerned about it maybe getting a little too warm. Another is that the NC fits in snuggly, but it makes the part that borders around the NC to raise up a bit as if it is just a little small for the NC. Also, I am not familiar with the type of material that is inside the case, but it feels like velvet/suede, and it attracts hair and fuzz so easily I have to lent roll it. Overall, I am very happy with it.Want JAVOedge Austin BackFlip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook Tablet (Grey) Discount?
The cover is well made and has a high quality feel to it (very soft yet sturdy and the inside has a felt feel to it). The main reason advantage of this cover is the option to stand it up in either portrait or landscape. Although there is only one angle position, that is not a problem for me so far (you can also use the cover to prop it up at a lower angle in portrait orientation, which is also a very useful way to use it).The cover fits very well and this model even folds over the nook's top and can be used to more securely "tuck it in" I don't see the nook slipping out of the cover (and the flip cover makes it even more secure). There is some a bit of a bulge in the frame on the sides, where the cover does not stay snug to the nook's sides on the front panel, but it seems to be either getting more relaxed or just less noticeable over time not a real issue that should deter from the cover's value.
The only reason I do not give the cover a full 5 stars rating is that the whole thing adds a lot of bulk. The nook with the cover feels rather heavy (after a week of not using the nook, it was handed to me and the weight was really surprising, though in everyday use it is propped one way or another and this becomes a bit less noticeable). The added bulk is mostly from the way the cover is connected on the back and the rotating plate which was made so that it is sturdy enough to make the propping mechanism sturdy enough. All together, there are 4 layers of the fabric covered cardboard (or whatever the material is in the core), which nearly double the thickness compared to the Nook alone.
Overall, I am still happy with the purchase and have not seen a more suitable cover that is as useful, or less bulky with the same functionality (the price is a bit steep, and the cheaper alternatives seem tempting).I did a lot of research looking for a very versatile and durable case and I think this has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It was a fairly new product when I was searching for something for my wife's Nook Color, so there wasn't much to go on but other cases from the same company, which all got good reviews. I wanted something that easily could be used for horizontal as well as vertical reading while using it as a stand and this transitions to both fantastically. It is nice material and seems durable but we haven't had it for very long. The cover flips out of the way nicely and overall the case fits properly with the right cut-outs for the buttons as well as the speaker. If you are looking for something that can stand for horizontal and vertical reading then this should be just right for you!

AAXA KP500-01 P4 Pico Projector, 80 Lumens, Pocket Size, Li-Ion Battery, 15000 Hour LED Projector, W
- Ultra-bright 80 lumen LED light engine
- Vibrant Color Technology with 15,000 LEDs
- Up to 80in image (in low-light conditions)
- VGA, Composite inputs plus SD-HC, USB readers
- MP4, MP3, AVI, JPG and WinCE file support
* The fan noise is more than noticeable. It's actually a little annoying.
* The power button is situated such that the P4 can be switched on in a crowded bag pretty easily.
* The buttons are not very responsive. My feeling is that this is more of a system software issue than a purely hardware issue. Button clicks frequently get no response or a delayed response. I feel like the system software is not quite ready for prime-time.
* While it's impressive that they included any sort of internal speaker, it's only usable in a very quiet environment and then really only for speech. There's really no point at all to listening to any sort of music track with it. If you plan on using headphones, then you're fine, but if you need to run a cable to a pair of external speakers then you're losing the cable-free benefit of a battery-powered device. If you don't mind plugging it in for power then you might as well get a brighter pico projector.
* The P4 does NOT mount properly on any external computer, and I've tried several Mac and Windows machines. The manual says very clearly that it should be able to do this. When connected via USB, it might mount for just a moment, but then it will immediately unmount or produce some kind of error message. I've had absolutely no success transferring files directly from a computer to the P4. When I contacted their support staff about this, I was told that I should put my files on a flash drive, and then move them from the flash drive to the P4. This is very disappointing and inconvenient. (Are other users having this problem? I'd like to know.)
* Transferring files from a flash drive involves going into Windows CE, which requires the additional purchase of the little USB keyboard. The keyboard is pretty cool, but it's somewhat expensive, and because it's so small, it's awkward to use.
* When copying files, I've frequently had weird anomalies where the P4 seems to think there are two copies of the file, with slightly different directory paths, and it gives me error messages that it is unable to find the second file. Irritating!
* Video playback always starts with the first video in your directory, requiring you to stop playback, go back to your directory listing, and select the file you want.
* Although the internal flash drive is 2 gigs, the operating system takes up a great deal of that, so there isn't more than a couple hundred megs onboard, and that's not much room for decent-quality video. I have not tried using an SD card.
* The color reproduction, even on a flawless white wall in a dark room, is mediocre at best. There are a few settings to adjust the color, most of which are totally unusable. My expectations were not that high, but I wouldn't want yours to be, either.
* The P4 doesn't sync as readily via VGA as you'd expect. If your cable gets jerked out, you can't just plug it back in. You'll probably have to manually re-sync it or possibly restart the P4.
* The battery does not last more than 70 minutes.
None of these issues are substantial enough for me to return the unit or recommend against buying it, but they might matter to you, depending on your planned use. The basic utility of the P4 is massive, although the shortcomings are constantly annoying. I look forward to future units from Aaxa, where we'll hopefully get 120+ lumens (laser driven?) from a longer-lasting battery, better and more adjustable color, and perhaps some kind of wireless a/v streaming. But for now, this is a very handy and useful device.I did a lot of research on Pico and Pocket projectors before deciding on this one. At the time of this writing (March 2012) I think its the best Pico projector out there in the $300-ish range. It has a few quirks, but all the projectors I read about did, and I felt these were the most manageable. The main issues that people seemed to have were the inadequate speaker and the fan noise. I already owned an X-mini II speaker, and it makes a perfect companion to the P4. The Xmini is also super small, and packs a LOT of sound in to it's tiny package. Also, the Xmini internal battery lasts 14-hours. I've never used the P4 without it. So the P4's speaker isn't an issue. And the fan is a bit noisy, but it's easy to tune out. If you listen for it, you'll hear it, but I don't really notice it.
I'm not a huge fan of the operating system on it. For instance, if you use the USB stick and have 100 files in 10 folders, the menu just shows those 100 files. I like systems which keep my files in folders for easy navigation really handy if you're plugging in a 500GB external drive with several thousand files. Large drives are no problem for the P4, but sifting through thousands of files is more time consuming that clicking through 3 levels of folders.
Also, the on-screen display only seems to go away after you've hit the play button. If you hit the FF or RW button the display will stay on the screen, then you'll need to hit pause and play so the display will disappear. Perhaps there's a fix for this, I didn't call tech support because it doesn't bother me too much. Also, the FF and RW only goes forward in 7 minute increments, making it impractical to rewind to hear a line in a movie you couldn't understand. Also, the display doesn't read the time quite right. For a 2:14:00 movie, it lists the time as 2:134:00.
But I still give this unit 5 stars. Why? Because it's awesome at what it should be. A light and powerful projector that can be thrown in a backpack. I can hook up any other source (like my portable video drive with RCA-outs which behaves just like I like it to) and have a great little theatre. None of my previous projectors could play files, so the fact that this one does with some minor quirks, is like a bonus.
One thing I noticed when looking at Pico/Pocket/Portable projectors is that most don't list the size/weight of the plug-in adapter in the description, unless you really search for it and with many of the pocket projectors you get an adapter about the size of a laptop adapter, which to me makes it much less portable. With the P4 and some other Picos, the adapter is more the size of a cell phone adapter, which was the big draw for me.The P4, after research was the pico projector I decided to go with. It is surprisingly bright for its small size. The images are crisp and clear. I mainly use it to project movies from my laptop but it comes with Windows CE so if you're one to do presentations, with a USB mouse you can use the built in software to access word/powerpoint/excel. I have used an apple vga adapter to mirror my iphone 4S as well and it works brilliantly. I would definitely recommend this projector if you are in the market for a small, portable projector. After reading the reviews and seeing all the specs of the different pico projectors on the market, I decided to go with the P4.
In summary i am very pleased with the performance, it acts as advertised.
One problem tough, the mouse keeps appearing on the middle of the screen, even when it's not connected to the device. So you have the plug it every time to put the arrow aside.
In conclusion, it beats the competition by far. I recommend it!!This is perhaps one of the most amazing hi-tech 'gadgets' I have purchased. First, its size is remarkable and truly pocket-sized! But the real 'show' is indeed the super bright projection light produced by the unique combination of 3 LEDs. I already owned a full-size theater projector (Panasonic) and so my benchmark was pretty high. This device does everything the product ad or spec sheets say and then some! Folks are amazed at the quality of the color and smooth image (no screen-door grid) and its portable, super-micro size. Yes all the comments about some of the minor software flaws are there but one adapts to these minor irritants after a few days of use (i.e., unable to have folders for any sub-files -videos, pictures, music. Yes, the projector's audio is iffy, but I added a dynamite, portable 3-inch Altec Lansing battery speaker (model Orbit iM227) which really fills the room. I also order from Amazon the 3M fold-up, portable screen which offers table-top bright reflective surface. I preload my videos onto a 16GB Micro SDhc card. In a dark room, you can even project image on a white wall at an amazing 6 feet size and it displays quite nicely. Also I purchased the iPhone-iPad adapter plug from AAXA which works but can be spotty to connect if not plugged in snuggly (AAXA recommends no covers on your mobile devices as they interfer with plug connection). My only disappointment so far is not being able to display PDF documents as projector comes from box. Windows CE is built-in and not sure if Adobe has PDF reader for M/S CE OS. Also a pop-up stern warning is displayed if you want to enter built-in WinCE app. AAXA will does not provide tech support for CE mode. So, now after two months since purchased, I say this device just delights and amuses folks. Real fun is when you offer to display your photos or videos on the nearest wall or napkin at a restaurant table from your iPhone!!
Aside too from the fun use, business and professionals who do presentations and need graphic depictions of their offering would do well to try out this handy, and very reliable device as a presentation tool.

I found the PodFob, and it is just right! It was only a little difficult to put on the iPad especially at the corners, but considering what it was created to do, that is actually a very good thing.
It feels safe, and appears very well consructed. I just bought a Kindle Fire for my sister who has the same neurological disease and also drops everything. Her husband bought her the PodFob for the Kindle Fire, and while she hasn't had her birthday yet and hasn't tried it, I am already certain that it will be as good for her as it is for me. Great product!

HandHelditems(TM) HP TouchPad Crystal Clear Screen Protector (Free HandHelditems Sketch Universal St
Need to have a clean, dust free room. I recommend having a credit card out and ready. Problem is if you do not get it on in a few seconds, dust from your room will collect on the screen and then you cannot get it off. When you apply the screen it will show the trapped dust and air bubbles that are formed by the dust not allowing the screen protector to lay flat. All if you want a clear screen this is ok , no instructions , but dont get fleeced by the stylus , since that does not work. Tried on all types of gadgets but simply does not work.Fits the touch pad well but is a monster to put on and get the bubbles out. As the other reviews say, use a credit card to get them out but be prepared to work a while on it. Skip he free stylus. It's the cheapest tiny little excuse for a tool as I have seen. Toss it and order a good one.I bought this screen protector to have some protection against my 3 & 5 year old grandchildren playing with my HP Touchpad. It is doing it's job. I'm very satisfied.I love the fact that the screen protector is reusable, and that it did come with easy to follow instructions...I was so pleased with the product that I found myself browsing to the Handhelditems.com website, just to see what else I could find.

rooCASE Super Bubble Neoprene (Red / Black) Sleeve Case for Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A 13.3-Inch La
The case is also not quite as stylish as I had anticipated. The pocket with red trim runs straight across the case. The color contrast is great, but the form is a little boring. The rooCase for my IPad is more stylish and interesting with it's diagonal pocket & trim.
Overall I am happy with the rooCase. It fulfills it's purpose and protects my computer. I would buy it again.

OtterBox Defender-Series Hybrid Case and Holster for HTC EVO 3D (Black)
When I first read about the Otterbox case line I was disappointed to see that they were not yet available. Being an avid SCUBA diver I was familiar with the Otterbox name and knew first hand of the quality products they put out (no I don't work for the company). I put myself on the waiting list and watched as they released the lineup finally ending with the Defender case I had wanted from the beginning. I ordered it the day it came out and received it days later.
Pro:
It's tough. Plain and simple, this thing will take a beating. If your hard on your phones or have kids that play with your phone, this is a big plus. The case is made up of a two piece hard shell unit that acts as sandwich over the phone. This has an integrated front non-glare looking cover to protect the screen. It also has a similar clear cover over the back camera and flash. So far I have not noticed this affecting photos in any manner. Nothing covers the speaker to distort the sound. Beyond that is the rubber cover that cradles the hard shell plastic. If you drop this thing I don't see how your phone will be damaged unless it somehow falls directly on the screen. If that happens I don't know of any case that will help you. The rubber wrapper has flaps that cover the major ports, sound, HDMI and charge ports. It has its own integrated stand as the stock EVO stand is not accessible. It has integrated buttons for wake and volume control. A simple hole allows access to the phones microphone. A cutout provides access to the earpiece and front view camera. The cradle itself is something I am getting used to. It will hold your phone in a landscape format so it is easy to pop in and out. My old case had the catch at the top of the phone. The catch is not spring loaded but rather tension holds the phone in place by clipping to the integrated detent on the hard shell portion of the case.
Con:
It's big. The EVO is already a beast in size and this will add to it. If you're not a fan of the phone size already then you may want to shy away from this particular case as it will only frustrate you. Another thing that I will have to get used to is the time it takes to put in and out of the case. I have one of the sprint car mounts made specifically for the EVO and it will only hold the phone itself, no case allowed. This may improve for me with time perhaps, but now it adds a few minutes to the start and end of my drive to prep the phone for the mount. Only time will tell if removing it regularly will have any effect on the case. Personally I doubt it will. The rubber wrapper takes some work to get just right but once it's in place its fine. Mind you putting the phone in the case takes just minutes but people who may have some experience with the two piece shell cases or the simple silicone covers from other manufactures my not like this. Last thing is it's pricey. At $50.00 plus this is a bit much.
Personally I am happy with the case, it will protect my EVO just fine for as long as I own it.This is a great case if you want to ruggedize your phone. It has huge protection for the screen, with a great (in my experience, another reviewer's differed) clear cover that's actually built into the protective Otter frame. After assembling the two piece skeleton around the phone, you pull a thick rubber coating on top of that. I think that set up will be great at absorbing shock. On top of the clear screen protector, there's a full 1 centimeter lift that makes it really hard for anything to come into contact with the screen. It also has some protection for the speaker grill, although it's obviously left uncovered, by the same depth difference.
The cameras are protected really well, again, with a huge depth difference and a plastic cover that fits on top of them. It looks like it'll interfere with photo taking, but I've taken about 100 photos with the case on and couldn't notice, so I think it's ok.
The case is also quasi-waterproof. Every port is closed rubberized hinges, except the speakers (front and back). That said, if you put the phone, screen in, into the belt holster, only the single speaker in the back is exposed to the elements. And it's quite small. I wouldn't want to test this in heavy rain, but I think the phone would survive even if exposed by belt holster.
The rubberized case looks very tough and has great grip. The included holster works well and is also tough, plus can be easily converted into a stand. The rubberized cover over the camera shutter doesn't seem to interfere at all, I can still easily feel the two stages. The 3D slider is a slight hassle to get to, because you have to unplug a rubberized hinge, but you don't need to get to it too often and it's not a big deal. The same is true for the micro-usb port, but since you use that all the time, it's a bit more annoying, and I'm worried the rubber hinge will break over doing this a few thousand times. So far it's doing fine though.
I have only a couple complaints about the case. The first one is the doozy. It doubles the thickness of your phone and makes it borderline uncarryable in your pocket. Now, it comes with a holster, so if you want to carry it like that, it makes no difference, and I have to wear a suit most days so it doesn't bother me much. But when I'm not at work I'm usually in jeans, and you can easily see the square print of the phone in my pocket. It's a pain to put it in and take it out of the pocket too because the thickness, combined with the rubbery texture, adds huge friction and ends up pulling out a lot of cotton fibers that make it look really dirty.
The second problem isn't a big deal in my opinion. The case cost about $50 USD which seems like a lot. But currently it is the best out there, and it's an expensive, heavy phone that's going to break if you drop it. So I don't mind the rather extravagant fee for the peace of mind too much. The real question is whether or not I'll keep it when the official HTC "Iconic" case comes out, because it looks nicer and thinner. If I remember, I'll add to this review when I buy it and compare them.
Buy OtterBox Defender-Series Hybrid Case and Holster for HTC EVO 3D (Black) Now
I used to hate phone "cases" and always just got Zagg Invisible Shields for my devices. I don't like big gadgets in my pockets, and I despise belt holsters. I bought this because I needed protection ASAP and Best Buy didn't carry the full (front+back) Invisible Shield for this phone. I was very concerned for the exposed cameras on the back. I thought I would take it back after trying it out.I'm sold. It does at least double the thickness of the phone, but I can still fit it into my jeans pocket (though the rubber does make it difficult to slide in and out). The quality of the protection and the usefulness of the belt clip are well worth it. I don't actually use the belt clip on my belt though. The clip locks in the open position allowing you to use it for a stand, which is great for my nightstand when I use it for an alarm clock. The clip is also solid enough to be used as a GPS mount, all you need to do is velcro something on your dash to clip it to (I woodshopped a solid dash dock out of scraps)
Besides the added size, here are a couple other minor CONs:
If you have big fingers pressing the extreme edges of the screen can be tricky because of the elevated edge of the case. You get used to it though.
The 2D/3D switch is also little tricky to reach, so if you use this switch a lot that could get annoying. I rarely use 3D though, so not a big deal.
Dust can slip under the screen protector through the opening for front speaker. I feel they could have make this opening tighter without covering the speaker. Again, not a big deal though because it only takes a couple minutes to remove the case and clean it out (packing tape works great for removing dust)
Unexpected PROs
Can use belt clip as a stand or GPS mount
Phone clips into belt harness in 4 orientations (Front or Back and 180 degrees either way)
Full protection for rear cameras (something not found on other cases and the main reason I bought the defender instead of the commuter)
I highly recommend this case. And this from a guy who hates thick cases.

this case is AWESOME!Pros:
the case is very well built and feels secure in your hand(it is otterbox after all). the plastic is real tough and the outer casing gives it a very rugged look.
it covers the camera so u don't have to worry about getting that scratched(htc is notorious for having cameras that pop out)
the clip is real sturdy as well so u don't have to worry about it swerving all over the place
Cons:
the casing makes it a bit difficult for me to hit the keys closest to the edges and the screen protector it comes with is a bit odd. the screen doesn't adhere to the screen its apart of the case(i installed another screen protector before i bought the case as well)
i do recommend this for everyone who has this phone!

I bought 2 Otterboxes from Amazon in Sept 2011. 2 weeks later one had broken, and both plastic coverings were not fitting right at all! They were bubblying from the back and falling apart. I called the original Otterbox store and they replaced both pieces for Free! They did say some Otterboxes do become hot and when they do the plastic around it becomes easy to pull off. They said something about a 1 year warranty, which I became totally happy! Whoo-hooo!!!!! Amazon thanks for bringing me the best price!!!!***Prior I was gonna return them, and Amazon had no problem returning them and refunding my money, but I'm real glad I made that call. What a lifesaver!

Graffitti is fine once you learn it, which isn't hard. But while the recognition is light years ahead of that Apple piece of junk that I was stupid enough to buy a few years ago (I had to have something), you can't write things down on the fly and expect the system to convert to text. Although I don't have one, I believe there are digital ink applications there which allows one to scribble notes in whatever handwriting you have. As long as you can read it, that's fine.
I have no idea whether Palm compares favorably to Windows CE, but if you judge by sales, Palm runs away with it. The battery life is not what I would like, but its adequate. But if you want a shirt pocket PDA, the Palm V is the only solution.its lightweight property makes it easy to carry even on field assignments requiring mountain trekking. That is why, palm 3 is a good companion.
its sturdy make, affords it to be carried almost in all situations. Easy to access applications further make it more reliable like a good companion.
above all, it is affordable.I just ordered a Palm III online a few weeks ago, and so far I like it. It's easy to use, I entered information in the address and date book field immediately and have been expanding to the memo pad and to do list. A few things I don't like, the alarm isn't much of an alarm. It makes a very faint noise once at the time you set it for and if you don't hear it then you're just kinda out of luck, but as soon as you turn your palm on again, that note shows up with the alarm time and date and description. Also, I got a cord with mine, not a cradle, and it won't connect to my computer (I guess the connecting cable is too old for my 2004 laptop?) and I can't find an adapter, so I haven't been able to connect it to the computer or download anything, which sucks for me, but I don't know if that's a common problem or not. I also got a CD with it which I installed, but without a connection it doesn't help much, but atleast the Palm is user-friendly enough that I could figure out the basics without the CD. For the price they're going now, anywhere from $20 used, I definitely think it's a good deal for your money, good means of organization for someone with a busy schedule who needs addresses and dates at their fingertips. I have it in a case and it fits in my purse fine, not too big or bulky.

I had always wanted to get into digital photography; but my PC was old, and I didn't want to buy a new one! So when HP introduced their new PS 100 printer, which prints directly from a camera's memory card -no PC required -I dove in with both feet first!I purchased this HP PS 100 printer -along with an Olympus C-700 digital camera -and I've been very happy. The PS 100 makes bold and beautiful 4" x 6" prints that are every bit as sharp as those from a full-size printer.
As an additional convenience, both my camera and printer use DPOF (digital print order format) which allows for one-button printing. I can crop (and select) the photos I want to print on the camera's rear LCD screen -pop the camera's Smart Media card into the printer -and then output borderless 4" x 6" photos just by hitting "print" (with no scrolling necessary to find the right shot, since the PS 100 always calls up the DPOF pictures first). What could be easier?
With the PS 100, printing photos is so simple -I now find myself giving away pictures (as gifts) to friends and family (something I had done only on rare occasion before). I've even taken the PS 100 to family gatherings -where I've handed out photos on the spot (which everyone thought was cool!).
The PS 100 uses familiar ink jet cartridges, and is much less expensive to purchase than competing photo printers from Canon, Olympus, and Sony (all of which use a much more expensive dye sublimation technology). The PS also prints a full-size 4" x 6" snapshot, (whereas the others, such as the Canon and the Olympus, make only prints that are quite a bit smaller). The PS 100 is also the only printer in the bunch to accommodate all of the major memory formats (Compact Flash, Smart Media and Memory Stick); something the other printers will do only with an additional PC card adapter.
(For those of you more advanced, printing from your PC is an available option with the printer's built in USB connection and supplied software on disc. The 4" x 6" paper size template also transfers over to other applications, like MS Word, enabling one to print documents from the PS 100 on to 4" x 6" note cards; which, for example, I've used to prepare notes for speeches.)
The HP PS 100 is the absolute easiest way to get into digital photo printing. And when the next family gathering rolls around -you won't want to leave home without it!

Having just recently purchased this printer, I'm extremely surprised at how happy I am. I have messed around with a lot of Inkjet printers for the purpose of making 4x6 photos. However I was always disappointed with the difficulty of just getting the picture output on the paper correctly. Also, larger format photo printers typically cost more and require special 6 color ink. Seeing that I usually print B/W 90% of the time, it's a waste of money. This is where the Photosmart 100 solves the problem. First of all it's a quality printer. It comes with a small world wide power supply that allows you to go anywhere in the world and make pictures from your Digital Camera. It's compact, and fast enough to make printing pictures a breeze. If your camera supports DPOF (a standard for imprinting print info on the digital media) all you have to do is select the photos you want printed on your camera, number of copies each and you are done. Load paper into the printer, insert the media, and press print. All your photos print w/o any more work on your part.
This is my first HP printer and I'm impressed with their packaging and software. The printer comes with a CD that includes all the necessary drivers and software for all HP printers and for most operating systems. Unfortunately this printer doesn't support Mac OS, but it does support Windows XP. This printer also doubles as a media reader allowing you to load photos from the media onto the PC.
I'm still uncertain as to what the cost per page is. I have a feeling that it will end up being about the same as using online photo services such as Ofoto or Shutterfly. A replacement Ink Cartridge costs around (current price), and HP paper is about (current price) for 20 sheets. I'm guessing that the ink cartridge lasts for about 100 photos which brings the cost per page to about .65 cents a page. That's a bit more than online which is around .50 cents a page (excluding shipping). I find that the quality is about the same, so for a few extra cents a page you get a photo in a matter of minutes rather than days. However, for large print jobs I'd still recommend the online photo shops.
Anyway, it's a great value for the money and it will sure to be an excellent traveling companion for vacations.
Want HP PhotoSmart 100 Portable Inkjet Printer Discount?
I have been looking for a photo printer since I got my digital camera, and I finally settled on the HP100. I have to say that I have found nothing but pleasant surprises since the day I took it out of the box. The 2400x1200 dpi resolution creates wonderful richly colored prints, and does so while being surprisingly affordable. The wide array of input options really proves that some engineer was paying attention to the consumers needs when they put this little gadget together. With slots for Compact Flash, SamrtMedia, and Memory Stick combined with the USB connection to your PC there is nothing to keep you from using this printer in one way or another. All you have to do is take you memory card out of the camera, slap it into the corresponding port, and you are ready to print. Of course, no product is without flaws, but here is the rundown as I see it:Pros:
Compact Size
Versatile input options
2400x1200 dpi
Prints 4x6 (borderless), wallet size, and thumbnail prints
Great color depth
Easily navigated menus
Doesn't require a PC connection
Affordable
Cons:
High quality printing is a little slow
Only prints on 4x6 paper
Ink cartridge could last a little longer
Overall, this is a great little printer that I would recommend to anyone. If you are looking for a printer that will let you print many different size prints, then you should look elsewhere. But if you only want to make 4x6 inch prints, without spending a ton of money, then this is a perfect companion to any digital camera. The new product development team at HP really did a good job on this one! VERY nice pictures....as good as any other photoprinter that I have seen. VERY easy to use either with the computer or as a standalone and printing off your memory card.
Great software package that you'll actually use !
I have a number of photo quality printers and I find myself printing 4x6 prints 99% of the time and this printer really is easy to use... no fusing with paper size, print size etc.
Pros:
+Easy to use
+Great picture quality
+Can be used with or without a computer (a feature I am using a lot more than I thought I would !)
+Uses only 1 printer cartridge and 1 size paper (4x6)...keeps things simple !
Negatives:
HP print longevity (lightfastness). You will need to send your prints out to a commercial service like Ofoto if you want to put them in a long term album. Prints will fade in a few years...fine if your just showing them around the office and rotating them through your frames etc. This is a problem with ALL inkjet printers, not just HP. Some claim longer "lightfastness" (like Epson) but only time will tell ! Note: I have some HP prints on my office wall that are almost 5 years old with no fading...so ????
Bottom Line:GET IT ! If you want a quick way to print 4x6 prints from your digital camera to show your friends around the office and send to relatives (who really don't keep those pics of your kids that long anyway !) the P100 is the ticket. You'll find yourself printing off your data card (vs. the computer) a lot more than you think you will ! Excellent quality prints that beat the 1 hour print.
