Targus PA830U Stowaway Portable Keyboard
- No More Lost Data Now Do More Anytime, Anywhere with The Full Size Portable Sony Clie Keyboard
- Folds to Fit In Your Pocket or Purse
- Built In Dock Eliminates The Fuss of Cables
- Special Keys Directly Link You to Calendar, to Do List, Address Book, Memo, & Many Command Buttons,Such As Done, New, Details, and Cancel
- Short-Cut and Function Keys Allow Maximum Efficiency
After installing and syncing the necessary (included) software, which took about two minutes (tops!), the keyboard worked great -just as it did for my Palm.
I now use it to input data wherever words are required; such as in my address book, calendar, memo, and Task List (using Franklin's Dayplanner software, version 7.3). I can also print (any of the above) from my Clie (just as I did on my Palm) to almost any IR (infrared) capable printer using Docs To Print (available from ISComplete.com).
I take the keyboard to meetings (where everyone is blown away by the unit's small size when folded -and full-size keyboard when unfolded); and when I use my phone or computer to check voice mail or e-mail, respectively (to more quickly enter notes or items upon which to follow-up).
Other's scoff at the idea of using a PDA for word processing. With the Clie's high-resolution color screen -and with Targus' full-size fold-out keyboard -I'm the one getting the last laugh when I arrive at meetings empty-handed (and without a laptop), with both my Clie and Targus keyboard in my pockets -and no pieces of paper to transcribe or file afterwards.
The only time I need paper is when my Clie is unavailable -while syncing!
The Clie is great! But the Targus Stowaway Portable Keyboard makes it even better!

Don't make assumptions. I was referred to this keyboard after buying a Clie PEG-SJ22u. It doesn't work with this model. I've since come back and taken the time to read the full product description, which is accurate. I'm sure that this keyboard works fine with the models it is designed for, but be sure that you confirm that it works with your model before you buy. Amazon doesn't always direct you to accessories that work with your PDA. I assumed otherwise, and found out the hard way that I was wrong.Read Best Reviews of Targus PA830U Stowaway Portable Keyboard Here
This is simply the best addition I've bought for my Sony Clie. The drivers installed quickly and flawlessly. The keyboard is a trifle thin but is of the perfect size even for my large hands. The typing response is quick and with the various function key combinations, you'll never need a stylus again.Arrived Tuesday and installed without any problem. No surprises as the Keyboard has been on the market for other devices for some time. I won't travel without it!Requires a rather spacey flat surfact to work on, so you might have to carry a hardcover book with you if the room doesn't have a foldout table. Other than that, this product, along with my clie 760 has really made note taking a breeze in college, and having all the files saved on my computer makes indexing that much easier. Overall, I would highly recommend this product, along with a small PDA over any laptop.Sunday, September 14, 2014

Sharp Mobilon TriPad PV-6000 Handheld PC
- Large touch-type keyboard
- Bright VGA touch screen with stylus
- 16 MB of RAM
- Modem
- What's in the box: Mobilon PV-6000, Serial cable, CD-ROM software, AC adapter, Main battery pack, Travel Dock, Operation manual
I use Microsoft Streets & Maps to make small maps that this machine can use on the road, and I use the free bookreader from Mobibook to read ebooks.
My only recommendation is that you buy Vadem's new model instead (...). Sharp labeled this model, but it was built by Vadem as well. For less money, you can get twice the memory, twice the speed and better graphics.

I have had my Mobilon for a year now and I still love it. As a professional journalist and technical writer, this little PC has made me more productive and efficient. Rather than using a notepad and pen, I bring along my Mobilon and essentially take dictation from interviewees. With applications like Pocket Word, Excel and PowerPoint, it snycs beautifully and easily with my desktop for more technical applications and the 12 hour battery life is fabulous! It also syncs with Outlook so I have all my contacts and my schedule with me. The touch screen technology and built-in handwriting recognition software mean I don't have to find a surface for a mouse and I can take notes or draw figures with the stylus. The monitor resolution is very clear, though hard to read in bright sunshine, so don't take it poolside. Color and grahics are very good, though you are limited when it comes to your choice of fonts--not a critical item for me.I have small hands, so I think the keyboard is big enough for me, though some people have commented that typing on it is awkward. I disagree.
Of course, you can download or buy lots of great software from Bubblet (TM) to finance and utilites, so the sky's the limit for how you decide to use this impressive little machine.
If you are looking for a laptop that doesn't weigh seven pounds but is powerful enough for Word documents, spreadsheets and more, the Sharp Mobilon is for you.

I use the Tripad (PV6000) in tablet mode for data entry and inventory control. CIC's Jot and the Jot Keyboard are both a big help with direct entry of numbers. It sure beats the laptop. The battery life is great. I did order the memory upgrade, 32 MB and added a CF card. I also added a Calluna 260 MB hard disk to the PC card slot to store backups and all of the eBooks from Peanut Press, Books2Read, and Mobibook.Want Sharp Mobilon TriPad PV-6000 Handheld PC Discount?
Let me state first off that I love(d) this machine! It is light-weight, easy to use and interfaces superbly with your desktop or notebook. That said, I feel that I need to warn you that in 1 year, I have had to return my machine 4 times for the same repair. It freezes, won't shut off, then after a hard reset, won't turn back on. Sharp has replaced the battery, the main chip and the inverter, now is going to charge me [alot] to fix the machine! I was considering buying a new one, until I talked to my Dad who also bought one at my recomendation and found out that his is doing the same thing. Obviously, I didn't get a rare lemon.
Take a chance if you must, but I am steering clear of this wonderful little computer until they fix some major problems! The best thing about this is the design, but the arms connecting the screen and keyboard look odd when the unit is closed. The screen is fairly dim, and must be used in a dark/moderately lit room. The viewing angle of the screen is horrible; the only position you can see the whole screen without an inversion/blackout effect is at an angle where any overhead lighting glares all over the place. The CPU speed isn't particularly slow, but the graphics ([re]drawing the screen) goes on at an awful crawl i.e. it's no good for graphical things. Now I must sound entirely bitter and biased against this machine, but I'm not, I carry it in my bag all the time and use it when I can. I even use it as an electronic book, its best use so far.

HP Slim Keyboard Expansion Pack for iPAQ 3800, 3900, 4100, 5100, 5400, 5500 Series
- Enjoy complete keyboard functionality with this compact add-on
- Take notes more easily and efficiently
- Protect the display during transit with the transparent, type-through keyboard cover
- Leave the keyboard attached to your iPAQ; no need to remove it when docking or changing a battery
- Compatible with 3800, 3900, 5100, 5400, 5500 series iPAQs
I'd like to say I leave the slim keyboard attached all the time and use it regularly, but I don't because it doesn't deliver in performance. The software is buggy and conflicts with other programs. Sometimes it works fine, other times it types random characters other times it doesn't type at all. Despite HP's updates to the driver, it is still buggy, so it sits in a drawer until HP releases another update, then I'll try it again. I also have the HP folding keyboard which I use regularly without any problems, so I have to conclude it is a problem with the slim keyboard. Attempts to bring the problems to the attention of HP resulted in no reply to my emails.

It works well after I spent time working with HP customer service. Here is what happened:I bought the slim keyboard (let's call it "s1") here at Amazon. When I insert my IPAQ 5555 the first time after following instructions to upload softwares...etc. Nothing worked. Hitting the keys did not put any letters in the test area. When I set the whole contraption on the cradle, I can see it is connected. Light came on. My desk top wouldn't recognize the device at all. What happened was the s1 and my ipaq didn't fit perfectly. You can't just push it in. You have to push it forward (with fingers on battery side) as you slide it down to get to hearing a "click" as it is described in the manual. (I found this tip from searching the net). Even so, the contacts were not flush with each other.
I called HP service (they are great). They shipped me a replacement right away. I got it in 2 days. Let's call the 2nd one "s2". Apparently the s1 from Amazon was from an older batch. s2 fits easily and much better. Still, nothing worked. IPAQ won't sync with s2 attached via the cradle.
Called HP and they told me that the slim keyboard was developed for early IPAQ models while 5555 was newly added. They also pointed out that there were firmware and software updates for my 5555 at the HP download sites. One of the firmwares is a bios update. I thought "Oh, Great!", I was going to screw up everything now updating the bios myself. I didn't have much luck updating bios on my desktop before. So I backed up my files. Get all the extra software I loaded ready so I can reload everything afterwards. Updating bios will erase everything and restore to factory defaults. Well I did it and s2 worked beautifully. I sent my s1 back to HP.
Then I noticed the s2 has some foreign characters on the alternate keys (those that you get to with hitting the "function" key first). It looks like that the keyboard is built for a different country. So, I called HP again. They sent me another replacement keyboard (s3). I sent back s2.
Well, s3 has the "z" and the "y" keys switched position. I called HP, got them to send s4 and I returned s3.
Now, I have been using the s4 for months and loved it. With s4 attached, the unit is too long to fit in any carrying case, so I have to be careful. It also covers up the finger print scanner, so that feature is out.
My experience: I love HP customer service. They were nice. They called me for followups after my call to see if everything was working each time. They shipped promptly and returning was easy. Didn't cost me a dime. Cost HP a lot I am sure. At first I didn' t like the extra plastic cover because when I need to touch screen, I have to open it. What a hassle. Now I am used to it.I sometimes rather use the soft-keyboard that is built in, since that annoying screen protector is always in the way. Also the keyboard has shown me no glitches, but it is very hard to use especially in the dark [since it has no backlight].
I keep it on at all times, just in case... I recommend it for those who do A LOT of typing on the go.
Also it is possible to use the Targus [Stowaway] keyboard with it, you just have to make sure that the other device is disabled when using the current typing device respectively.

I read the other reviews and suspect that the problems with this keyboard have revolved around issues with the IPAQ bios and not the keyboard itself. Also this unit support many models so it is difficult to judge it. So my review is based on my model 5500 experience.Worked fine out of the box but did need the latest drivers. NO bios change required.
As far as a keyboard goes this unit works great...good spacing and high domes help hit the right key. I did not like the smoked plastic screen protector..it should have been clear but it hinges out of the way.
This is more than a keyboard...it is a case to protect the product.
SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 30MB/s Memory Card with SD Adapter - Retail Packa
When I got the card I right away put it in the phone. I wanted to see if the phone recognized it right away or if I was going to first have to format it. The phone recognized the card immediately. It shows 59.8GB available. I then took out the card and inserted it in my laptop so I can transfer everything that I originally had on my older card. I was afraid after doing that the phone would have difficulty reading the card. Well, the card worked great. All my information was in there and now have a total of 73GB available including my phones memory.
If you have a Galaxy S3 and have been wondering if this will work well with the phone, it does. I would recommend this for anyone who really wants to add a good amount of memory with good speed as well.I ordered this 64gb micro SD card because my music collection is simply too large to fit on the 32gb card I had in my android phone. This new card doesn't disappoint. You lose about 4gb due to the vagaries of the FAT32 format, but that's to be expected. The net result is for $160 I have a phone with 76 gb of space (70 useable after file system reserves), which outdoes almost anything on the market.
What is absolutely great is that the card works in some older android phones, even though the manufacturers have not promised it will. I am using it in my Samsung Galaxy S, which is supposedly limited to handling only a 32gb card, but it works great. When you pop it in, you have to format it, and after that it's treated exactly like any other card, but with more space. I've read elsewhere that the card will work with a number of other older android phones, but I recommend you look into it before buying one.
This is way better than having to buy a $900 phone because I needed more space.
A word about speed: I'm only using this card for music. I believe it is fast, but I haven't tried any situation that demands the speed, so I really don't know.
Overall, if you need the space, I highly recommend this card.I received the item and it works flawlessly in my Galaxy S2. It did however take quite a while to transfer 52gb of music.listing as class 10.
part number not for the class 10 model!
I returned it after I was sent a class 6!
I had to pay return postage
they seem to mismanage their inventory and mix up their listings.
don't trust a company that labels their product "NEW MODEL" for months and has mixed part numbers
you can find the genuine product elsewhere on Amazon for cheaper often sold by and fulfilled by Amazon itself
opinion
I wouldn't be surprised to learn they were shipping counterfeits or factory rejectsThe card is working perfectly in my Galaxy S2. Just format it in the phone and it will show up as 59.46GB total space. Be aware that having a huge SD card with thousands of MP3s will make your phone boot up more slowly, due to the time taken by the media scan.
The included card reader is compact, has caps on both ends, and accepts the micro-SD card directly (no need to use the included adapter).

OEM RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 8230 Curve 3G 9300 9330 Headset
- Original accessories for your BlackBerry ... Direct from RIM. OEMs design and manufacture accessories to match the specific requirements of their devices, satisfying the most demanding customer. You can trust the high quality and performance of BlackBerry accessories from RIM
- Active Stereo Headset with answer/end and mute controls. Black.
- Talk on the phone, watch video clips, play games or listen to songs with a stereo headset optimized for your BlackBerry smartphone
- Lightweight and comfortable, the BlackBerry Active Stereo Headset is designed to cut out wind and background noise to ensure great sound quality when you're on the go.
- The headset features an easy-to-use control button, so you can answer, end or mute phone calls and pause or play music, all with a single touch. Additional controls on your smartphone allow you to rewind, fast forward, skip between songs, change volume and more.
I prefer this over a bluetooth because the call quality on this wired headset is outstanding. It's also lightweight so no fatigue wearing it for hours at a time. Plus, it's stereo so I can listen to music from my Blackberry when not on a call. Everything you could want.
I have been talking with people in other countries who tell me I sound like I'm right in front of them in person. The sound is great, comfort is ok maybe not as comfortable as some others, but I can still wear it for an hour or two on a long call and not notice it. After a couple hours, I will take it out unless I'm watching a movie on the plane or something.
Biggest complaint is that the mute button on my headset does not work...I found this out the hard way on a work conference call! Luckily just some extra background noise for the other participants. Well, I quickly learned to just push mute on my Blackberry and not rely on this one. I also would say that the headset doesn't have any soft foam liners for your ears, this might help the comfort level. But many of us with ipods or other headsets might have extras to use for this.
Overall a great product if you care about call quality.

I ordered 2 pairs because the price was so low. They are very good stereo headphones sound quality is great when listening to MP3s or when listening to a phone call. the microphone does produce a bit of a 'tinny' sound to the person on the other end of the phone (I left 2 voicemails for myself first with the headset on then without it, and I could definitely tell the difference) but not so much that the other party cannot hear or understand. the earbuds have little foam covers which are pretty difficult to get onto the earbuds without damaging the foam (especially if you have big clumsy fingers like me). Overall a very good product.Want OEM RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 8230 Curve 3G 9300 9330 Headset Discount?
These earbuds work perfectly and the sound is surprisingly good! My only complaint is the earbuds are a tad big for my ears, but the foam covers help them to stay in. I also really like how the cord is much longer than most earbuds. This helps when I'm at the gym and I can set my phone in the holder and not have to worry about it flying off the machine because I tug on the cord too hard!A friend of mine purchased these, too, and accidentally put them through the wash. They still worked just fine! You can't beat the product for the price. Clear sound and the mute button is convenient. The ear buds could stand to be smaller so they sit in the ear more comfortably.

rooCASE Netbook Carrying Bag for Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ 11.6-Inch HD Netbook - Deluxe Series Black
This was the only bag I could find that really seemed to meet my needs, and it turned out to be really nice. It seems to be built really well, and rooCASE has a lifetime warranty much like Targus did. The netbook slides in easily yet snugly and there are more pockets than I'll ever need.
The only complaint I have is that the front pocket, where pens and adapters and such go, doesn't really have any depth to it. The AC adapter to my netbook alone makes it bulge out in a very ugly fashion; when I add other things like my phone adapter and a portable mouse it looks like an alien is about to bust out. It's not hard to close, though, and it doesn't seem like it'll cause any damage.Excellent quality carrybagjust the perfect size for the Acer Aspire One Netbook. Sturdy and enough padding to protect the netbook.I ordered this bag for a gift and the person I bought it for loves it. It is made very well, not too big, not too small. It holds quite a bit plenty of pouches, zippers, storage areas.I purchased this carrying case for a trip I was taking overseas in which I relied heavily upon my Acer aspire one. I was looking for a case in which the netbook would fit snugly and be amply cushioned that would also have sufficient pockets an extra space to store a rather extraordinary assortment of cables, chargers, mouse, ear plugs, passport, boarding pass, etc. The roo, which arrived without delay easily met all expectations for storage and portability. Additionally, the construction appears to be very sturdy and has an eye pleasing design. It has a discrete lateral webbed belt in the back that both conceals a further zippered compartment, and allows the case to be hung on the collapsible handle of my wheeled carry on case for airport travel.
An excellent product at a very good price, delivered when and as promised.

I have an older 8MB Handspring that came with a USB hotsync cradle. I forgot to put the baby-gate back up to prevent my rabbit from getting into my office and before I could catch him, he whisked by the cable to my cradle and it was neatly severed in half.I went to different computer stores that sold my model of Handspring a few years ago, and none of them could help me... I was stuck w/o synching capabilities... curse my bunny!
I was extremely happy to see that Amazon carried this Belkin sync cable. It's better than the cradle because it takes up almost no room on the desktop and can easily be folded away when not in use. Also a great asset to have if you travel and don't want your cradle to get crushed in transit.
Works like a charm!

HMDX Audio HX-P230OG JAM Classic Bluetooth Wireless Speaker (Apricot)
- Incredible sound quality in a small footprint
- Connects wirelessly up to 30 feet away
- Works with all Bluetooth-enabled devices: smart phones, tablets and more
- Rechargeable for up to 4 hours of wireless play
+ Nice design to the speaker that just feels like a solidly built product.
+ Rubber bottom on speaker allows it to easily grip onto surfaces.
+ Sound is clear with some decent level of bass for such a small speaker. I tried all types of music including classical and did not experience some of the "humming" reported by others. I'm not sure if this was addressed by the manufacturer in later versions, but I was impressed and saw only minimal distortion at full volume.
+ Bluetooth range was impressive as I saw minimal distortion only when getting beyond about 15 feet. Keep in mind that most Bluetooth devices ranges advertised are maximum with some distortion, so 30 ft is what you get before you just flat out get an abundance of distortion. I did find that solid objects like walls will limit the range, which you find with other Bluetooth products.
+ Pairing was simple with all my iOS devices.
+ Added bonus of having an AUX in and Play/Pause/Rewind/Forward controls on the speaker even though it's unnecessary, since you can use your device as a remote for the speaker. The AUX in is a nice tough for anyone who doesn't have Bluetooth support, but then again I would not purchase a speaker whose main purpose is Bluetooth for a device without Bluetooth.
+ Included packaging is re-usable for storage, which is convenient.
The only thing that was really a small negative for me is that the cable provided for charging is rather short and unless your outlet is close enough to a solid surface you may have to leave the speaker hanging for charging, but this was something I easily saw past.
Overall this is a very solid Bluetooth speaker at a great price point when compared to other similar options. It's a great entry point for anyone interested in a Bluetooth speaker. Keep in mind that all my testing was performed on iOS devices. I tested on an iPhone 5, iPad 1 and iPad 2. iPhone 5 was running iOS 6 and the iPads were running iOS 5.
********* I received this product for free as part of the Amazon.com Vine program. Nonetheless, I review the product in the same manner as I would if I had purchased it myself. *********

This is a great little speaker. The new smart phones are very good at connecting with it.I can't agree with a previous review about the humming noise. Yes it hums IF it is turned to full volume and you have turned your music device down to low... your smart phone or player should be up to full volume and then you should use the volume on the speaker to control the volume. Magic>>> NO HUM. This is true with any connection. this same hum will occur on my home stereo if I use the volume on my player to control the volume instead of the speaker volume control.

First off, I would like to explain that this may be an ongoing review. I just bought this item last night, and being a person who understands electronics, I usually wait for my reviews. This time, I figured I would start the review, and then I can come back and edit. Therefore, you may see some updates or changes below.Second, don't let my initial 4-star rating fool you. I was torn on how to rate this product for the value of what you pay, or vs. other speakers. I decided to put this up against much larger bluetooth speakers, and I think it speaks volumes that a $40 item is 4-stars compared to $150 bluetooth portable speakers.
I'm going to start with what most peopls call "cons", but I'm just going to note them as minor nuisances
-The cord is only about 6 inches long....BUT...its your standard android type charger. Since I'm a Samsung Galaxy boy, myself, I have a ton of these cables. It is currently charging with an old LG cable I found
-Some have mentioned a slight hum in the speaker. This is pretty common with most Bluetooth devices. This goes away when you start playing music. There have been some that said, "once you hear the hum, you always hear the hum". I purposely turned the music all the way down just to hear the hum. I listened to it at my desk for 5 minutes, and then played music again. I don't notice any hum, and I am TRYING to hear it. So, although there is, in fact, a hum, I'm not noticing it when in use.
-Its not a great bass machine, but again, is this really a con? Do people buy a prius to drag-race? Cannot really hold that against this machine, so again...that is why I said a "minor nuisance" (and that is a stretch)
-The power switch is on the bottom
-There is an extreeeeeemly loud series of beeps every time you turn it on. You know its coming, so you can try to shield it. Its still somewhat annoying, and not good for starting up in quiet places. There may be a way around this, I just haven not figured it out.
-The controls on the speaker itself are a little slow to respond, but honestly, who is going to use this? It is only a minor delay anyway. I just tested them to see what they were. I control everything from my phone.
I tried this thing out approximately 10 times in Bed Bath and Beyond. I kept messing with their display and was rather disappointed that I couldn not try my own music on their display. So, that kept me from trying it at first. Plus, I am always concerned that the display model is set up differently and it just won't sound as good at home in larger rooms...which takes me to my pros, and what I love about this (so far)
-The sound fills a room. Its not that massive BOSE sound, but its pretty close in how it fills a room. I listen to a lot of 90's acoustic rock and that stuff sounds incredible. Now, if you get to some of the newer club-rap type of music, there is not a lot of power, but it doesn't sound distorted either. Still sounds good, it just is not going to blow your hair back and rattle windows
-I had the phone about 15 feet away from the device and it played beautifully. What is funny is Pandora played clearer than my recorded music...here is why that is a pro. Because, I realized a lot of my recorded music is garbage from the internet and typically poor recordings, which leads me to believe that this device really picks out the clarity of songs. Much like a good set of headphones might actually make some of my bad recording actually sound bad because the headphones are so clear.
-The construction is very sturdy
(pending a battery test)
any standard charger that comes with most android phones can charge this.
-line in that will work with non-USB devices
-packaging is actually very nice. I will keep this for storage.
If you are skeptical about buying this, just buy it from a place that has easy returns. Thus far, I have no desire to return it. As far as performance goes, it is a solid 5-star product for the price. Again, I gave it four stars only because its slightly not as powerful as some bigger, more expensive speakers. I realize that may not be a fair assessment, but, again, I think it speaks more to the product that I give it 4 stars in comparing it to the larger portable Bluetooth speakers. I think the only way I would have a problem with this speaker in the future, is if for some reason performance decreases, or I find that the battery lasts a very short amount of time. I will update this, if needed, in the future. If you don't hear from me, that means its still doing well :)
Want HMDX Audio HX-P230OG JAM Classic Bluetooth Wireless Speaker (Apricot) Discount?
I've been annoyed for a while that the speakers on my iPod Touch just weren't that great, and my laptop's speakers were downright embarrassing. In a matter of moments I paired this speaker (right out of the box, with no additional charge) with my iPod Touch (VERY easy to do, go to Settings, Turn the BlueTooth on, when it sees the speaker, select it, enter the PIN found on the bottom of the speaker, play your music) with my iPod and was playing music, and it sounded wonderful. The music is clear, and the base is powerful.
It does have a little pop sound when it is turned on and again when it connects with your device. I've also noticed that it starts out pretty loud each time I turn it on, so I know to turn it down right away.
I love that I can walk around the room with my iPod and not be tied down with speaker wires. It is also nice that the speaker can be taken anywhere!
I had to laugh at the strawberry scent I smell when I open the jar the JAM speaker comes in. It is fun.
Charging is easy using the included micro usb connection. Just plug into your computer or USB outlet. When the speaker's light turns to green, it is fully charged.
I also love the grip material on the bottom, it keeps the speaker from slipping or bouncing on hard smooth surfaces.
In all, this little speaker packs a punch! Love it. (Plus, it is small enough to put in a purse or bag)I picked up the HMDX Jam and was excited it didn't cost $200. It's debatable if it is worth ~$40, you'll have to be the judge if the annoying issues with this product aren't a big deal.
PROS:
1. Small
2. Fairly Loud
3. Sound is OK
4. Rechargeable battery
5. Only $40 vs. a Jambox cost of $200 or others at $100
CONS:
1. Bluetooth sometimes requires powering the Jam on/off a couple of times to connect to my phone. Slight annoyance, but hey it's only $40
2. Loud (i.e. max volume) "duh, duh, duh" EVERY time you power on the unit with Bluetooth connected. You can't disable or reduce the volume of this notification. Again an annoyance, you can muffle the speaker once you know the sound is coming.
3. There is a very noticeable "humming" sound from the unit when using Bluetooth connections. It is most noticeable during acoustic type music (vs. busy, pop type music). It is somewhat covered when playing at loud volumes for busy music, but once I heard it I could hear it in every song. This noise is not there when using the line in, so it is likely tied to the Bluetooth module in the Jam. I actually took mine apart and tried to shield/filter out the noise without success (shielding didn't help, new filtering at 1st stage amp, which isn't used for Line-In, didn't help). It seems to be inherent to the analog output of the OVC3860 Bluetooth module HMDX is using. Talked to HMDX tech support about this noise and they confirmed it on one of their test units. They're response was "that's how it sounds when on, you should probably take it back". At least they were honest about the Jam's limitations and realized once you hear the hum/buzz/hiss it will take an effort to ignore it. I think this issue will end up being a deal breaker for me and I'll keep my eyes open for a sale on the Logitech mini Boombox or the Jawbone Jambox. Hey, you get what you pay for....especially with straight from Ch!na items. Oh, and here's another reviewer that called out this same noise as "electronic fax machine-esq".....

This is one of two keyboards offered by Belkin. This one is bigger and offers four launch buttons for the major Palm applications (date, phone, to do and memo) which I never use. The keyboard unfolds into two sections which click together. It has a full row of numbers, but breaks the space bar 80/20, which I found to be somewhat inconvenient. The right shift key is also half-size and located out beyond the up/down navigation arrows which I often miss-hit, especially when typing quickly. The PDA's placement towards the left side of the keyboard seems strange, but works fine in practice. The keyboard is fairly rigid when open, which is great for typing on one's lap like a notebook computer. But the entire unit is fairly large when folded and even larger if you use the padded case that comes with it. So, in total, this keyboard doesn't offer many advantages versus Palm's original (which is about the same size), other than the ability to type on one's lap.
Belkin's other model, the G700, is actually much better, (especially if you don't need the application launch buttons). It's smaller and sleeker, and offers the traditional convenience of a complete row of numbers.
If you're looking for a full-featured keyboard, the original Palm model is still better. And if you want something sleeker or more stylish, check out the Belkin G700 (also available from Amazon) or Palm's new ultrathin version which is definitely the "coolest" of them all!

A keyboard that's too big to be considered "mini" and too small to be comfortable. It's strange left-side cradle design accompanies it's cheap toy-like feel. Don't be deceived by its full sized apperance, this keyboard does not allow free flow typing at any reasonable speed. I highly recommend Palm Brand Portable Keyboards. The Palm Brand Portable Keyboard worked great with my Palm V. The two biggest problems I've seen with friends and collegues purchasing palm keyboards that are not made by palm are 1.) functionality and 2.) a connection mis-match. A friend who recently purchased a Belkin Keyboard could not even get the software loaded correctly. Every button he pressed on the keyboard forced his palm pilot into Hot Sync. Haven't heard any complaints personally about Palm Inc. Keyboards. Be sure that whatever keyboard you go with specifies that it is compatible with your model, and don't trust the pictures!Want Palm M500 Series Pda Keyboard Discount?
The Belkin keyboard for my M505 works beautifully! The keys are a lot easier to press down than many other palm keyboards. The drivers worked just fine with my system as well. I would highly reccomend this product!First I tried it at the store with an opened box model. There was a screw missing which held the connector in place. It was found elsewhere, loose from where it should have held the connector in place. So the clerk got me a new one. I took it home and the small connector unit came loose. It appears the two screws that held the connector in were not screwed in completely. two different widgets, same conceptual problem.
Quality control appears to be an issue.

I did not like it because it would not work for the application for which I purchased it. I was using it to access a Vaisala 555B weather station. I tried an early version Quatech Model: SSCFR-100 which worked great with my Dell Axim X50 PDA. I don't understand why it would not work.Read Best Reviews of Serial Adapter - Plug-in Module - Compactflash Card - RS-232 - 921 Kbps Here
We have been trying to use the I/O card with a Jornada 548 with Fowler Gages' digital calipers and Taltech's CE-Wedge software. We were warned by Socket Communications that there was a potential problem with freezing up if the serial com port was not turned off before turning off the computer. Based on this, we purchased the card and were careful not to do this, but found that after 1-3 hours of work, the computer froze up to the point that we needed to remove the battery to get it to turn off. Based on this with 2 computers, we do not recommend the combination. Socket agrees that there is a problem with the driver, but has no plans to make any changes. Suggests using a Compaq IPAQ instead.Want Serial Adapter - Plug-in Module - Compactflash Card - RS-232 - 921 Kbps Discount?
Easy installation for my Casio E115, I used it to connect to a barcode scanner for stocktaking a warehouse. The speed is ok (I wonder if there're 4Mbps models anyway?), and the connectors seem to be stretchable and durable enough for the job.Thursday, November 28, 2013
Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner
- Only 12 ounces and measuring just 11 inches in length
- User-friendly sheet-fed design
- Optical Resolution: 600 dpi
- Scanning Modes: 48-bit internally, outputs 24-bit true color; 8-bit gray scale; 1-bit bi-level B&W
- Operating Systems: Windows Vista, XP, 2000, ME SE, Mac OSX 10.3 and later (download from www.pentaxtech.com)
The one criticism that I have has to do with the software that accompanies the scanner. It does not apparently remember the last settings (e.g., resolution, color vs B&W, and destination directory) so you have to re-enter all of these each time you sit down to scan.
We haven't tried using it for any graphics purpose, but from what I can tell, it's not likely to perform like a flatbed scanner for this purpose, at least for serious graphics work. For a casual scan of a photo for a document or a webpage, it would probably work just fine.
Absolutely satisfied!

Update (5/2009)Scanner still working great. Also realized OSX's "image capture" program works great with this product too (it's in your applications folder).
I just got this scanner and am using it on OSX 10.5 (Leopard); it works beautifully. I found using the scanner with Photoshop to be slow, but I was amazed to find it also works with ironicsoftware's Yep! PDF management program. You can scan directly into PDF from Yep quickly and beautifully.
You will have to download the OSX drivers from Pentax's website (it is easy to navigate and find).
I am a scholar and have used this machine to scan in articles I can't find online. The DSmobile scans a full page (black and white) in under 10 seconds. If the page has been folded (not a crisp piece of paper), you will have to make sure guide the paper with your finger, otherwise, it may get hung-up in the scanner's rollers. Overall, this is an excellent product, and it works seamlessly with my Macbook Pro.

OK, I like this product, I really do. The quality is pretty decent, it's not too slow, it's pretty easy to use. All good things. My quibbles are with the software for Mac users, or I should say, the lack thereof. All of the software that is advertised for this product is for Windows ONLY. It says that it is compatible for Mac OS X, but you have to download the drivers from the Pentax website (which is fine) but the drivers to not operate the button on the scanner, it is non-operational with Macs, and it does not include PageManager 7, so you CANNOT make PDF files with it alone, that it advertises.Amazon's page says, "One touch of the button on the DSmobile 600 will launch your choice of compatible scanning programs. Make a preferred scanning program your default and that one touch will initiate that program." It should indicate that this applies to Windows users ONLY. If you do a little digging on Pentax's website it says it won't work. So, while this scanner is good, you need your own software, like Photoshop or other design software (or even Word:Mac) to use it.
BUYER BEWARE!! I'm not saying I regret the purchase entirely, I just don't thin it's fair that I paid for software I did not get. The 3 stars is for the software only, the scanner itself is really nice.

This little scanner is the answer for those that need a quick and convenient way to copy documents. Works exactly as it was advertised.I'm a mortgage originator and occasionally meet my customer at a location other than my office. This is the easy alternative to a copy machine and works great when I copy driver's license (or other ID), bank statements, etc. It won't replace my larger (sheet feed) scanner for speed, but speed is okay for small jobs, and the quality is great.I use it with my laptop to scan mainly letter sized documents, to include old mimeograph and spirit duplicator (remember the purple print?)pages and it works just as well as my flatbed scanner. I use the B&W setting for mimeo and have to switch to color for the purple print. Super convenient and easy to use if you read and follow the instructions.
