I was undecided on whether or not to buy this item after reading many favorable but several very unfavorable reviews of the Pocket Laser Light Show. I figured for the price I would take a chance and I'm glad I did. For the money this thing is awesome! Yes, I guess if someone was expecting a recreation of what they saw at a Floyd concert they will be disappointed but if they are expecting that from a $15 toy they probably won't have the mental capacity to install the batteries correctly anyway.

This thing is so small you can hold it in your hand or carry it in your pocket but it provides a pattern of 10 feet in diameter or more depending on the distance you place it from a wall. The cool thing about it is that you can manually change the pattern to any number of shapes using the two switches and two control wheels. You can also have it stay on one pattern or even set it to automatic and let it just put on a show. Obviously the darker the room the better the effect will be. In a pitch black room you get almost a 3D effect.

I bought one to use in creating a "laser vortex" effect for my Halloween display and it worked great. I had the option of a round or triangular vortex and it was plenty bright.

I think this thing would be a great present for a a child between 6 and 16 or an adult who just loves gadgets (like me).

For the price, this is one of the most amazing little gadgets I've ever gotten my grubby paws on. It has variable speed, pattern and direction controls... or just set it on auto and let it do its thing! For everyone who loved all those Pink Floyd Lasarium shows years ago...

This laser is pretty fun. It is reeally small, thoughi.e. it really does fit in your pocket. I like it a lot, but the only thing I could say that's wrong with it is it's not very bright. The room has to be pretty dark for it to be impressive. Also, the actual laser projection isn't very wide unless you move the laser really far away from the wall or ceiling that you're projecting it on. But for the price it's a pretty sweet lil gadget.

When this arrived, there was something rattling around in the case, and the light show only showed as VERY faint and fuzzy, only viewable on a relatively close surface (less than a couple of feet). Seems one of the two rotating mirrors had fallen off, and what I was seeing was the reflection off of the adhesive disk. So I opened the case (voiding my warranty, I bet), and simply stuck the mirror back on the adhesive, and it works fine.

So, other than the initial hiccup, feel pretty good about it, and am going to buy another (since its so easy to fix if the same thing happens).

It was cheap feeling. It is almost flexible as though it would break if you are not careful. A good stylus should not flex it should have strength in it and durable.

On the original stylus, the tip is pressed in and made of a different material. After lots of use, the shaft splits open. That is where it always broke.

I print on the go all the time, and sometimes, at conferences and events, it's been more than a lifesaver. Printing good photos on the go seemed a natural addition.

Problems with this printer include: need really good quality paper for decent prints (consistent with Canon printers in my experience); Canon's warranty is lousy (and they have screwed me before with products that broke a couple months after warranty expired); photo quality is less than a dedicated 6or 8-ink desktop printer; expensive inks.

Primary use: printing at conferences or other public events that keep you away from an office. Kinkos beware--this thing handles most of the jobs that I'd run to a business center to do while on the go. HOWEVER, without buying the extra battery, you're still on the prowl for the power outlets, along with everyone else in the room.

Secondary use: traveling, where snapshots of friends can be handed over while still on the go. I tend to travel light, so carrying a printer is a bit nuts, and the inks run out quickly, but sometimes there's no replacement for printing a photo of some new friend and giving them a copy while on the go.

Tertiary use: desktop printer. There's cheaper, faster, better alternatives for this use though--but it does fine as a backup (or when I want to print from a room without a printer without getting up).

I bought this to pack with my eMachines notebook because we take 40 guys to Myrtle Beach each October. I needed less hassle than carrying a bulky laser (I was using a Samsung ML1210), and something faster than an older inkjet. Do not compare speed to much older inkjets of 4 or 5 years ago -this seems faster than my Samsung laser for one-off output. The black text printing is very quick for an inkjet. Posting scores and Team sheets should go rather quick. I do not plan to do color photos because I have less-expensive options. Size is about 12" x 7" x 2" thick -perfect for packing away. Now I have EVERYTHING in one carry bag -nothing to think about or lose. It does grab several sheets at one time every once in awhile. I can live with it if it doesn't become persistent. I just purchased the LK-51 Battery Supply to be truly transportable -works 6 hours on one charge with the included Lith-Ion Battery. Printer needs USB Male A / Male B Cable -order online very inexpensively (don't buy at local stores -$22 or $30 is a rip-off for these; you can get them as cheap as $2 at CyberGuys.com).

The canon i80 is a good portable printer-not a replacement for a good workgroup printer or photo printer. I've had it for around 2 months now and put it through lots of use. In general, the quality is fairly good-monochrome printing is almost up to par with lasers. Color graphics are pretty decent-but remember that this is not a dedicated photo printer Speed is a bit slow-somewhat slower than advertised, but acceptable. It does tend to use lots of ink, and the ink cartridges are fairly expensive, though you do get 2 of them per pack. On the good side, the ink cartridges are easily refillable with any standard kit-but you will need to drill holes on the top after you peel back the label. It only holds around 20-30 sheets of paper and you'll need to fan through them before loading them in the sheet feeder or it will often pull in more than one sheet at a time. It seems pretty durable-I usually carry it with a laptop so it gets lots of travel and there are no alignment problems at all. My only real complaint is that I got it for its bluetooth capability. There is a dedicated bluetooth unit made for this printer, but it's not currently available from Canon or anywhere else I looked. I could get a universal, but that would defeat the purpose of having everything built in. If you're looking for portability, then this is the only way to go. Otherwise, you may be better off with a larger inkjet or a monochrome laser.

I've owned several Canon portable printers in the past, including the Canon BJC-70, the BJC-80, and two Apple StyleWriter 2200's (BJC-70 bearing the Apple logo). I've also owned several portable printers made by other companies, none really as satisfying as the Canon printers.

I'm now using the Canon i80 (HP zd7000 & Windows XP). This printer clearly evolved from those earlier Canon printers, improving in some ways and not in others. On the positive side, print quality and speed is roughly on par with many desktop printers within this price range. Canon has also greatly reduced, and perhaps even elininated, the problem of the ink jets drying and clogging between print jobs (on earlier BJC models, the ink jets would dry out if the printer wasn't used for a week or so). And, unlike the i70, this printer comes with the multi-voltage power supply needed by international travelers.

Other things have not improved. Like those earlier printers, the i80 suffers from paper feed problems, ranging from paper not feeding at all (unless forced), to multiple sheets of paper feeding at the same time, to paper not feeding straight. Of course, this is more pronounced with very thin or very thick paper (thick envelopes are especially troublesome, often only solved by sharply creasing the envelope edges before using). All this is more of a nuisance than a serious problem, so should not automatically rule out this printer from purchase consideration. It doesn't happen all the time, or even most of the time, and can be reduced with experience.

The price continues to be high, especially with accessories often included with other portable printers (cables, battery attachments, batteries, and so on). If on-site portable printing is truly needed, requiring the purchase of accessories, I would have to recommend another printer with built-in battery. However, if one only needs to easily move a printer between hotel rooms, business meetings, or offices, the performance and convenience of the i80 wins out.

Some things are a mixed bag. The case design of the i80 has improved over earlier Canon models. The paper holder/cover now completely covers the printer, protecting it from dirt/dust or while packed in a bag. However, at the same time, Canon switched that case from a neutral near-black to an oddball copper/tan color which doesn't match any computer I've ever seen. Of course, this doesn't really affect performance, but it is distractingly noticable.

Finally, some things have gotten worse compared to earlier models. The i80 does not properly print some web pages in Internet Explorer without an external plug-in (Easy Web Print), which adds another IE toolbar complete with bright red Canon logo and buttons not matching other toolbar icons. Without this plug-in, the right side of some web pages are cut off. Canon either needs to reduce the intrusiveness of this plug-in or integrate this capability into the print driver as other companies do (the three other printers I now own handle these same web pages properly without a plug-in). Luckily, printing everything else with the i80 is entirely painless.

In conclusion, all portable printers are a compromise offering portable convenience with some inconveniences. The Canon i80 is no exception. However, the inconveniences associated with the i80 are minor, easily outstripped by overall convenience and performance. As such, I can comfortably recommend this printer to any fellow road warrier.

I used this in my apartment and bought the Bluetooth module to make it wireless. The printer managment tools only work when the cable is used and the cartridges go fast when printing pictures. Usinf this with my Laptop and Canon A80 camera..love it

Very cool remote, it does what it claims to be able to do. The built is alright, it feels a bit plasticy but I wasn't expecting anything different. I use in combination with my Android MK802. I used it with my computer and it works well also. The range is more than enough. I think I've tried about 15 feet which is more than enough or else you can't see the device you're operating.

This product works great for my HTPC but already wearing out the mouse buttons. Functionality is great perfect for what I need just material is flimsy and cheap.

I am using this to control a MK802 Mini PC running Android and Linux. It generally works well but has an issue with the mouse not being very precise. With the light weight of this device, when you mouse-over a link, the cursor will often wander off the link before you can click on it. I find myself using two hands to steady it. I have never owned a fly mouse before so I don't know if this is typical, I expect it might be.

There are two selectable modes of operation, with "Static mode" the center button is held and released to freeze the cursor and then you use the left mouse button to select it. This helps the stability issue but seems to double the effort somewhat. In "Dynamic mode" it works just like a normal mouse. Tapping the center button once will toggle it between the two modes. The left and right mouse buttons are also strangely reversed.

It seems durable enough although I have only used it off and on for a few weeks. The markings have already worn off the left mouse button. The USB receiver (dongle) stores inside the case which is handy although I cannot open the case with my fingers, I need to pry it open with something flat. It comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery and USB charging cable. This seems to be the same product as the iPazzPort 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Fly Air Mouse Keyboard with IR Remote minus the IR remote so you might check the reviews there also.

the hx2495 is the same underlying product as the hx2490. the ..90 and the ..95 are different in that the 90 is for the business market and the 95 is the consumer market.

the bluetooth widcomm software is pleasant to use. I recommend over the updated WM5 microsoft built-in version that comes with the OS.

this PDA is favorably comparable to the dell axim x50 or dell x50v, but with some models of those having no built-in wi-fi or a full VGA display (vs. the QVGA display on this iPAQ).

I decided for myself that the QVGA display was good enough for me and it is a really excellent display on the hx2495! i plan on using this PDA for GPS car navigation (already own a bluetooth GPS receiver). Media support (videos, MP3s) is excellent. The wifi makes it easy to update software and web surf. The wi-fi was absolutely required for some other applications I use, and so it was good to have it built-in. I would also rate the battery life to be fair to good.

the overall performance is snappy especially on media playing.

the bluetooth and wifi in a small lightweight form, with slightly rugged looks, great performance, windows mobile 5, and a low price make this PDA an excellent value.

This is my first PDA/ Handheld/ Portable Entertainment Device purchased to replace my 14 year old paper daytimer. I choose this unit after much research. My choices narrowed down to the Dell Axim v51 & this. I choose the iPAQ because of the voice recorder and mostly because of the removable battery. Not only does this allow you to replace it should the battery wear out or malfunction but I purchased a larger battery for travel.

I am very pleased with product after several months. After an initial problem with getting it to sync, I discovered the problem was with the firewall & virus programs installed on my PC. I had to uninstall the firewall & virus & uninstall AutoSync 4.1. The units synchronized, then I reinstalled the virus program, upgraded to 4.1 & switched to Windows firewall. Now, its fun, fun, fun. I have a 1 GB card. I listen to music while I play games, watch videos, get my birthday cards out on time, make voice reminders while driving and more.

I only need to recharge the battery every other day. I have loaded at least 7 other programs and it still works great. I use an aluminum, neoprene lined case for protection in my purse.

Everyday I find more uses for it. I also recommend iPAQ for Dummies also sold on Amazon. Although the book doesn't address Windows Mobile 5, there are still additional hints I found very useful.

Just thought I'd add this bit for people who suffer the battery drain problem. This happens when you have an SD card inserted and a working Activesynch connection. It has something to do with constantly monitoring the card's output.

Anyway, HP now have a ROM update that fixes this problem, although they should make more of point in telling people!

It's a simple matter of downloading the ROM update and applying it to your Ipaq. Make sure you have the correct Ipaq though, coz there is a 'b' version which has a different ROM update!

This review is of the hx2495b which I believe has more built in flash memory than the earlier model. I will describe my impressions based upon my previous experience with other pda's (as this is the first Windows Mobile device I have owned) and also based upon the fears I had prior to receiving my new iPAQ.

1. I have owned several Palm OS devices and 1 Linux based device. Overall, I think the Palm OS is the most integrated of all as far as its contacts, calendar, and ToDo list. The calendar on the Windows Mobile device seems somewhat poorly organized, but I am getting used to how it functions.

2. It is also a little harder to navigate a Windows Mobile device using only hard buttons, but this iPAQ allows you to map hardware buttons for various functions so I can do most simple tasks without taking out my stylus.

3. Windows Mobile does not shut down programs when you "X" out of them. Normally this is not an issue with 56Mb of memory...but when running a memory intensive program (usually when surfing for me) I find that I need to manually free up some memory by going into the task manager and shutting down previously opened programs. This is a quirk that is a little annoying but something I can easily live with. There are many free and non-free utilities which can change this behavior.

4. The built in WiFi for this device seems rock solid. I get a better connection than I did with my Linux based Zaurus pda. I would prefer a slightly richer WiFi interface when setting up a connection, but then I am used to working with a laptop where I have more options available. I am sure there are some utilities you can install to beef up the interface.

5. Many of the functions on a Windows Mobile device are accessed by holding down the stylus on the screen (i.e. instead of just a tap). This is the equivalent of a right click in the desktop world and the functionality seems to be logically laid out.

6. Windows Mobile supports both portrait and landscape modes and you can map this functionality to a hard key.

7. My previous pda had a VGA display. I was worried about the loss of resolution when switching to the QVGA display of this device. However, I am now pretty much convinced that a VGA display is nearly a waste with screen sizes this small as I don't even notice a difference for most functionality.

8. There are a crap ton of free applications that exist for Windows Mobile. I was blown away. I thought the Linux world dominated the market for freeware, but I guess that Microsoft is on so many devices that there is a lot of software written for them.

9. I think the battery drain issue must have been fixed for this model. I have not loaded any updates to the OS, I have an SD card installed, and my battery life is excellent. I can easily read for over 4 hours on this device before recharging (I keep my backlight at 1/2 power when in doors).

10. This version of Windows Mobile has persistent memory storage so if you lose all the power in your pda your applications will still remain. All the applications I have installed so far have given me the option of storing them on my SD card...although I haven't even come close to filling up the built in storage.

11. My desktop machine has WinXP and Microsoft Office. Synchronization is painless. I'm sure it is not so painless with a Linux or Mac OS.

12. The suite of applications that comes with the iPAQ impressed me. It already has a built in terminal services client to remotely connect to a Windows machine (this is fairly impractical given the screen size but is good for shear geek factor). Excel and Word are included but I haven't played with them much. Out of the box you are ready to play mp3's and wmv's on the built in media player.

Overall, this is the best pda I have owned. There are some quirks with the OS (every OS has some), but this iPAQ delivers a lot of power for such a small device. I am a very happy owner.

There don't seem to be many iPhone phone strap holders but that's ok because this one would beat them all anyway. It is very minimalist and looks very natural on the iPhone and is unobtrusive so the dock cable inserts easily. (I have mine on an iPhone 4S, works great). It includes extra screws for attaching it just in case you lose a couple, and a very nice double ended screwdriver for removing the standard iPhone screws and inserting the new ones, and it's even magnetized! The only downside of course is that you cannot use this with iPhone cases that cover the dock port, and sometimes ones that have cutouts for it, so just double check the case you're using if it's with this holder.

My friend bought one of these (different brand) last year. I got mine for a lot cheaper and she was jealous, but my screwdriver didn't work to remove the original apple screws. I had to borrow hers. The rest was fine, but be aware it may not work for you either.

I received this keyboard for Father's Day. The first one lasted two weeks. The second one lasted 1 day. The connector came loose on both keyboards. By reading the reveiws on the Palm keyboards, think I will be getting one of those.

This is one of two keyboards offered by Belkin. This one is bigger and offers four launch buttons for the major Palm applications (date, phone, to do and memo) which I never use. The keyboard unfolds into two sections which click together. It has a full row of numbers, but breaks the space bar 80/20, which I found to be somewhat inconvenient. The right shift key is also half-size and located out beyond the up/down navigation arrows which I often miss-hit, especially when typing quickly.

The PDA's placement towards the left side of the keyboard seems strange, but works fine in practice. The keyboard is fairly rigid when open, which is great for typing on one's lap like a notebook computer. But the entire unit is fairly large when folded and even larger if you use the padded case that comes with it. So, in total, this keyboard doesn't offer many advantages versus Palm's original (which is about the same size), other than the ability to type on one's lap.

Belkin's other model, the G700, is actually much better, (especially if you don't need the application launch buttons). It's smaller and sleeker, and offers the traditional convenience of a complete row of numbers.

If you're looking for a full-featured keyboard, the original Palm model is still better. And if you want something sleeker or more stylish, check out the Belkin G700 (also available from Amazon) or Palm's new ultrathin version which is definitely the "coolest" of them all!

A keyboard that's too big to be considered "mini" and too small to be comfortable. It's strange left-side cradle design accompanies it's cheap toy-like feel. Don't be deceived by its full sized apperance, this keyboard does not allow free flow typing at any reasonable speed. I highly recommend Palm Brand Portable Keyboards. The Palm Brand Portable Keyboard worked great with my Palm V. The two biggest problems I've seen with friends and collegues purchasing palm keyboards that are not made by palm are 1.) functionality and 2.) a connection mis-match. A friend who recently purchased a Belkin Keyboard could not even get the software loaded correctly. Every button he pressed on the keyboard forced his palm pilot into Hot Sync. First I tried it at the store with an opened box model. There was a screw missing which held the connector in place. It was found elsewhere, loose from where it should have held the connector in place.

So the clerk got me a new one. I took it home and the small connector unit came loose. It appears the two screws that held the connector in were not screwed in completely. two different widgets, same conceptual problem.

Quality control appears to be an issue.

Very slick marketing, it comes rolled in a cool custom designed tube. In that respect, however, we're talking about an item that is pretty flimsy and maleable. When applied, one uses an included spray to help it glide on and hopefully avoid bubbles. Alas the spray leaves residue. On top of this there's a texturing to the material that doesn't give you a clean, flat surface like the glass. It ripples. There's no anti-glare feature, and the material used can get caught on a fingernail and torn. In all an extremely low quality product aside from the packaging.

Installing this item is a pain in the butt and Id recomend having it done for you. It is not the fault; however, of the manufacturer that I cant install it properly. Hence the 5 star rating.

I dont know if it is just the item itself; but, I always seem to have difficulty putting these things on with out success. I suppose I had hoped for an easier install this time, as I like the idea of having a fingerprint free screen. But, my screen actually looks better without one and its easier just to clean it with the cloth when needed I figure I paid $13 for a screen cleaning cloth

I went to the Skinomi you tube site to view the installation instructions and although the instructions were well done and clear, when It was over, there were fingerprints everywhere, water spots all over the inside and out of the screen ...and yes, I used all of the spritzer for my hands and the cloth...

I have screen protectors on almost all of my electronics because I am deathly afraid of having permanent scratches on the screens. I purchased this on the same day I purchased my Asus Eee Pad Slider, and I didn't even open the package which contained my Slider until the protector arrived. That's how crazy I am about making sure that I maintain the clarity of my screens with no scratches whatsoever.

The packaging for the screen protector is nifty. It comes rolled up in a tube like a poster might get shipped in. It contains a spray which helps the film adhere to the screen, a plastic scraping edge, a cleaning cloth, and of course, the protector itself. The process of placing the screen protector on is quite easy, although it does take awhile. The instructions are clear enough that even a child would be capable of following them. The only strange thing is spraying the protector with the liquid they include I was scared of damaging my tablet!

The issue with this product arises in the air bubbles. The instructions stated that all air bubbles should disappear within a few days, but I still have a few here and there. Another problem comes up as I try to remove the air bubbles with the plastic scraping tool they include in the kit. Instead of just pushing bubbles out, it catches onto the protector and drags it a bit, leaving it stretched out and damaged.

For the price, I would say this product definitely delivers what it promises to, but there are better screen protectors available at a higher cost which won't get caught on nails and sharp objects.

I was seeking a reasonably-priced, well-padded, yet minimal neoprene case for my iPad2 that I could slip into my travel purse and that would allow me to easily remove my iPad. This fits both iPad and purse perfectly! I also have an orange smart cover and a "Black Smart Cover Companion Compatible TPU Skin Flexible Hard Gel Case" that fits snugly on the back of my iPad2, and the whole kit still slips easily in and out of the sleeve, though with the hard gel case on the back, the zipper is very, very snug (almost too snug). Still, with care, there is no danger of harming the hard gel case or anything else due to the nice construction of the bubble case. YMMV. Plus, all that orange and black looks great together!

The case's front pocket holds several small things, though while in my space-constrained travel purse, I use it mostly for flatty things, like the screen cleaning cloth, cable and stylus. It has a nice hook-and-loop closure.

I didn't really care about obtaining a stylus or getting this particular screen protector (I'd thought I might buy the screen protector ZAGG sells for mucho bucks), but I applied this screen protector anyway, which went fairly well (except for operator error which resulted in a few bubbles from some bits of dust). As it turns out, I love it! The anti-glare quality is great and my finger still slips as easily across the screen as without it. Over-all though, I'll be the first to admit, it doesn't look as good as a naked iPad. If I install another one later to (hopefully) eliminate the dust bubbles, I'll most likely get this exact one again. It even fits fairly well under the corners and edges of the hard gel case (not perfectly -there's a little air under the corners, but I can live with that).

The stylus is actually a very nice bonus. It's attached to a little audio jack-hole shaped plastic bit that slips into the audio jack hole on the iPad, so I store it there sometimes, but better than that, it has actually proved useful when the iPad screen seems reluctant to respond to my fingertip (!).

Finally, shipping was almost blazingly fast! It arrived 4 days after I ordered it, two days before the earliest delivery estimate, via standard shipping. Gotta love that! :D

I can't decide if this thing is defective or not. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. It seems that it pulls too much juice from the usb port which causes Windows XP to shut it down. Other times I get miscellaneous hot sync failures. I'm going to give it a few more days before returning it to Amazon.

This is very nice case. Very padded. Absolutely great for a netbook travelling in a back pack. Just one side of the case is as padded as both sides combined of other cases (I'm looking at you swiss gear)

The outside zipper pocket is a nice touch and quite stretchy though not near as padded. The zipper has not failed in the few months I've been using it. The zipper for the main compartment is quite robust, but the zipper for the outside pocket not so much. It tends to get caught on itself if i open it to far. Not a real big deal to me personally but you might care.

I bought the iPAQ because I wanted to upgrade from my Palm to a color screen, and the Palm color display was just terrible. Enter the iPAQ, a stylish executive gadget with a great color display, and a built-in MP3 player. Add the built-in speaker with a joypad, and this unit would be great for games too! So I ordered one, and after months of waiting, it arrived.

The first thing that struck me was that the reset door was not closing, but rattled like a rattlesnake if you moved the unit. Research on the internet showed that this was a common flaw, but it could be fixed by bending the door with a small screwdriver.

Next I found out that dust had entered the display, and due to the construction of the backlighting, dust particles shine brightly and can only be removed by fishing them out with a long hair. Apparently this too is a common problem, since Compaq forgot to seal the display of the unit, so dust can enter between the display and the touchscreen foil. Compaq does exchange the iPAQ if there is dust in the display, but the replacement unit will have the exact same problems since this is caused by an engineering flaw. So don't bother sending it in until Compaq has a real fix.

The MP3 player proved to be pretty much unusable, because the amplifier is switched off and back on between tracks, causing a deafening popping noise on the headphones. Compaq has promised a firmware update to remedy this problem, but that keeps getting postponed every two weeks, the latest announcement is sometime next year. I won't hold my breath.

Using the unit for games is also all but impossible, because the joypad/buttons are somewhat limited by the hardware design.

Don't be fooled by the metal looking case; it's really just painted plastic, and the paint comes off easily. Just slide on one of the Expansion Packs regularly and see for yourself where the scratches develop.

By now I was subscribed to a forum and found out about a myriad of other problems, including that the symbols on the buttons rub off after a few weeks of using them. Compaq thinks this is normal, so my conclusion would be: don't use them. Great. My advice to Compaq: don't print on metal unless you're certain the paint will stick! The paint on my (plastic) Palm buttons stayed on for two years, and probably will stay on for another twenty.

Would I buy it again? Yes and no. The iPAQ was a great idea, it's currently the fastest Pocket PC around, and if it didn't have the quality problems it has, I'd buy it again. But for this price I expect a unit that works as reliably as my Palm did, that I can actually use daily and not just carry around and not use it to prevent it from becoming unusable.

Unfortunately the demand is currently so great that Compaq seems to be getting away with anything, as people don't care about the problems as long as they can get their hands on an iPAQ. Personally, if I were you, I'd wait a while until either Compaq gets things done right, or the competition comes up with a similar product which doesn't have the problems the iPAQ has.

If you're waiting for the iPAQ to become available again, stop waiting and be glad you didn't spend your money on this prototype that accidentally went into production, and spend your money on something else instead.

I purchased the Compaq Ipaq not out of dire necessity, but mostly because of the many features it has:

One, it looks the best out of all of the PDA's. It has a sleek, futuristic, design, unlike the Jornada, for example, which is just plain black.

Two, the stylus can store inside of the body, so there is less of a chance of losing it and you don't have to carry it around separately.

Three, It has an Mp3 player, which is one of the main reasons I picked it over the Palm and Visor, in which an Mp3 expansion costs as much as the PDA itself.

Four, the writing area is retractable and there is an on-screen keyboard; the Palm and Visor don't have the keyboard, and the writing area takes up precious screen space.

Five, the processor is an Intel Strong ARM 206MHz; the other pocket PC's only have 133MHz or lower, and they're not Intel, which is the best and most reliable processor.

Six, it doubles as an E-book, you can read books on your iPaq with Microsoft Reader and download them from numerous websites, even a thesaurus and dictionary; the Palm doesn't have this feature and the Visor expansion is expensive and you can only choose from a selection of four books.

Seven, one of the most important factors in my buying the iPaq is the color screen; the resolution is the best out there, especially compared to the color Palm and Visor PDA's, which are expensive and have very low resolution. Not much of an improvement from a Game Boy.

I went through excruciating research on the other PDA's before I decided on the iPaq, visiting Casio, HP, Visor, Palm, and Compaq. The Palm and Visor I ruled out immediately after seeing the capability of the Pocket PC's. I looked at CNET, Epinions, and PDA Buzz, and went to my local Best Buy, CompUSA, and Circuit City. I saw that it got high praise from many electronics and technology magazines, such as Best of the Year from Popular Science.

It took me 2 weeks before my final decision. That was two weeks too late, into the middle of the Christmas shopping frenzy. Almost every retailer was out because of the popularity of the iPaq and on eBay, it cost around $600-$700. I finally snagged it at a Brandsmart USA, it was the last one.

A very useful feature is AvantGo, which is included. You can load your favorite web site onto your iPaq for viewing anywhere. Also, you can read the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, USAToday, you can play Jeopardy from SonyStation, you can access Yahoo(with movies, news, sports, stocks, etc.), and thousands of other sites.

There are many games and lots of software that you can download for it, like Flight Simulator.

I am very happy with my iPaq, and I would suggest it to anyone. It's good for the music lover, disorganized person, businessman, etc.

This is a great product. DUST DOES NOT ENTER THE SCREEN. People saying that is incorrect. What was behind the screen had nothing to do with dust. Compaq had a problem with a company in Taiwan that installs the screen. Do to poor work tiny glass fragments were left behind. That is what the so called "dust" is. This problem has been fixed with all the new iPaqs. Amazon.com only sells new ones, their will NOT be a problem with the screen. Microsoft activesync has a problem when other usb devices are in the computer. I found Microsoft ridiculous when you call user support. Your best bet is to call compaq where they will give a solution that works perfectly. There is a lot of softweare for the ipaq out, and much more coming. For gamers, go to PocketGamer.org for all the gaming news. You can get great emulators to play all the old Nintendo and SuperNintendo games. I recomend the IBM microdrive or if that is too expensive get the Viking cf card. This is by far the best Pocket PC on the line. The 3630 and the 3650 are the exact same product w/ ho differences what so all. I called Compaq to confirm this. The only difference w/ the new compaq 3635 is the cf card that comes w/ it. The new one costs 100 dollars more, where you can buy a cf expansion pack for 35 dollars. I recomend getting the 3635 or 3650.

I've owned this unit now for 3 months. I've got the PC Card expansion for it, allowing me to use a wireless ethernet card to surf the web when I'm at home. The included applications from contact management to excel and word are all first rate. The synchronization is fantanstic (much better than old CE devices). I actually sync via the wireless card. I read and send my email through this thing. It really is much close to a full function laptop in terms of capabilities that a contact management device such as a palm. I've also got the Pharo GPS device/software combo for it, works great, actually talks you through the directions as you drive! The Reader software is also fantastic. I've read a couple of books (the ClearType is amazingly smooth and readable) and the best part of it is I don't have to leave the light on to read! Your significant other would appreciate that!

When i first bought my ipaq in november, i hated the fact that my computer wouldnt recognize with active sync all the time. but i found a solution that has yet to fail. do the following:

1. when active states "connecting" and it doesnt connect. take your ipaq off the cradle. 2. when active sync now says "disconnected" click on file, then get connected 3. another screen pops up and on this click next or ok 4. now a screen that shows that your computer is searching for your ipaq on all ports shows up. 5. turn off your ipaq and set it on the cradle. 6. ipaq turns on and connects.

this works all the time when i have the problem and i never have to restart the computer.

This is the case I've been waiting for--it's pretty similar to the very nice leather Kindle cases. I also have tried the Navitech flip case (fits beautifully but the easel feature doesn't work and the cover flaps awkwardly) and the Luxury graphite case (very solid feel, nice plush inside, but needs to be a few millimeters bigger in all directions). This one works the best:

--it's big enough to protect the Tab all around its edges and corners

--the easel feature works well in both landscape (bend the case at the back) and portrait (remove a velcro sleeve and reposition it) modes

--it's real leather and soft padding inside

--it fits around all the cameras, connections, etc.

--the magnetic catch holding the cover in place is very subtle but seems strong enough to work well.

I am not sure if the back of the case, where it has to fold to use the landscape easel, will hold up to folding and refolding multiple times a day, which is what it will probably get from me. But it seems pretty sturdy, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

For now I think this is the case to get if you want real protection and a versatile easel function for your Tab 7.0 Plus. And the price is great--much less than the leather Kindle cases, which are very similar (the Kindle cases have a nicer leather smell, I have to admit).

The Amazon entry said "available Dec 28" when I ordered mine but I actually got it (shipped USPS) on December 9, which was a pleasant surprise.

If you own the older Galaxy Tab 7.0" tablets, this is NOT for you because ports and jacks will NOT be in the correct locations. BUT if you own the newer Galaxy Tab 7in tabs, this case will work just fine.

The construction of this case is very well done. It feels sturdy. I can rest assured that the back of the tab won't get damaged by scratches. Only down side is I don't feel like there's enough "hard" parts, that if I were to accidentally drop it that there wouldn't be any damage. Besides protection from hardware damage, all of the ports, the IR function, microSD card access, buttons, cameras, and the Light Sensor are all available. I own the newer Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" One thing I don't like also is the speaker openings are only two little holes for each speaker, which drowns out the sound a little, but not a lot. The stand function works fine on flat surfaces. Trying to view it on the bed is a little difficult because the back of the cover that bends doesn't bend completely 90 degrees; more like 80 degrees because the leather and sew job is a little tight.

A cool feature is the case is a two in one. Once you have the Tab inside the case insert, you can actually remove it from the cover's Velcro and use it like that with just the leather case around the tab or you can re-attatch it to the cover portrait ways (see product picture). It's a very simple, but intuitive feature. The case insert is leather on the front, but the back is fabric so it can attach to the velcro. A downside to that is if you remove the tab from the cover, the underside can get dirty really easily. But I keep mine in the cover anyway.

Now I mentioned the case can be used for both the Tab 2 and Tab Plus 7.0" but ultimately it was made for the Plus model. The cut-outs are specifically aimed to accommodate the Tab 2 7.0"s rear camera's LED lights, and the front Speaker at the top of the Tab (opposite the Samsung Logo). Also the Tab Plus is a little thinner by only a couple mm, so the Tab 2 is a little more of a tighter fit. But none of those are deal breakers because the case fits perfectly fine when it comes to functionality and form.

So overall, again, this case is perfect for people looking to protect their new Galaxy Tab 7in from minor scratches on the back of their tab and want to be able to use the camera and access all of their ports and cards. It's just perfect!

This case is well made except where it concerns corner protection, which is a tablet's weakest spot. The cover is measured out to cover the face and back of your tablet near exactly, but all four corners are left with zero protection. Six weeks in, my son dropped the tablet (Galaxy 7.0 plus) and shattered the screen on that entire corner. This was not a hard drop by any means.

Be aware, if you are looking for real tablet protection, you may want to look elsewhere. If your looking for a nice leather looking business cover, this case will suffice nicely. The manufacturer really needs to look at enclosing the corners with some sort of padded protection, its a shame to spend $25 on a screen protector and another $25 on this nice leather case, and then one drop from approx 2-3 feet negates everything.

I recently purchased a Samusng Galaxy Tab 7.0 PLUS tablet and needed a cover for it. I didn't want to buy something flimsy and wanted it to be nice. This case is great! It has velcro on the inside so you can take the tablet out of the folder and change the position of it. It's all leather and it has a magnet on the inside so the flap doesn't fling open and possibly have something scratch the screen. HP has never really known who to market this device to. I do legal and real estate research and when I first saw a co-worker with this device, I knew I had to have it. It was just beginning to sweep the courthouse where I work when HP discontinued production. The price has sky-rocketed for a used device as this little toy can literally double your productivity if you are out in the 'field' making copies. Mine paid for itself in the first 3 months and I have had it for 3 years.

I must offer some comments here, since... myself, I could not figure out why Hewlett Packard stopped manufacturing this very clever and productive item. The answer is: "high resolution digital cameras". There is no longer any reason to use hand held scanners, which were made before reasonably priced digital cameras became available. Therefore, I give the Capshare one star, as clever for its time, but now an obsolete artifact, useful only for museum displays. Or possibly, at this current asking price of $550, has the legendary HP Capshare become a collectors' item?

And there were several drawbacks to using a Capshare, which a camera will overcome. I purchased one of these Capshare devices, which I wore out, literally. (The electrical contacts of the buttons went intermittent.) My Capshare could capture a grey-scale (black and white) bit map image of a page, and transfer the image through its infra-red (IR) port to my Windows98 Ricoh Magio netbook, which would OCR the image with HP's bundled software, at 98% accuracy. Amazing technology, for its time! However, a complete Capshare scan of a page required a minute or three, with some manual dexterity. Scanning was similar to running a squeegee around a window. You needed to make one continuous motion that moved the Capshare's narrow, four inch wide scanning head over every part of the paper page. Scanning a curved surface was impossible. The paper needed to be absolutely flat, to make close contact with the scan head. Any hesitation in movement, or a bump from a wrinkle or speck of dirt, would lift the head and terminate the scan. The required pressure would come close to tearing a thin sheet of paper. If the entire page was not scanned in one serpentine sweep, the Capshare's firmware would not be able to "stitch" the convoluted scan back into the original image of the printed page. You were required to capture a contiguous area of a page in only one scan, with no option to merge more than one scan of the same page. And that software processing time to "stitch" the image back together, could amount to twenty to forty seconds of waiting. And then, to conserve memory, some manual button pressing might be needed, for preliminary trimming of the image, inside the Capshare. That consumed more time, working the buttons, guesstimating the page margins, on that tiny screen. In contrast, a digital camera can capture the image of a page, in an instant, and in color, both text, photos, and diagrams. Software is now capable of correcting any keystone distortions in a snapshot, and saving both photos and diagrams along with the OCR'd text. The Capshare was only gray-scale, and it could only capture crisply defined text. Any photos or line drawings, even if in black and white, would be saved in a Capshare's memory as indecipherable, pixilated blobs. If you work where you might need images of diagrams, go with a digital camera. The HP Capshare was clever for its time, but only a partial solution to the problem of capturing text AND photos, with line drawings and diagrams.

On YouTube, there are some fascinating videos of robotic machines that can digitize a book, automatically, at a fairly fast pace. The book is held open, at an angle slightly larger than 90 degrees. Each page is turned with pneumatic blowers and grippers. When the pages briefly stop moving, two digital cameras, each focused on a different page, snap photos. For three dimensional objects, there are other devices and software that make it possible for a camera to photograph the label or artwork wrapped around the circumference of a bottle, or a cylindrical work of art, and OCR any text.

Handheld scanners are history! Or can anyone suggest a purpose that I have overlooked?

It took me a while to find a suitable case for my Nexus, as it is an older phone. This Body Glove is just what I was looking for! It fits perfectly, and even has a belt clip. Great price for this cover, and it does the job! Would recommend to anyone with a Nexus One!

I got this case and returned it because one of the pieces was defective: the rubberized coating was pealing off the holster attachment cover. If you plan to not remove the phone from the case, it is an ideal choice. It is very difficult to get this thing off once it snaps into place. The holster attachment sticks out too much as well.

this is my fourth nexus one case. it's the one i wanted to begin with, but i was forced to try alternatives until something like this was available.

the case itself is pretty standard: rubberized, with texture for grip. it's not soft like a gel case, more like hard rubber. unlike a lot of cases, there is lots of space cut out around the buttons making them easily accessible.

having a belt clip option made it for me. the belt clip itself is okay. i gave it four stars because the phone hangs out a distance from the clip.

The ipaq rz1710 is a basic pocket pc that's great for basic use. I bought this item for my daughter to use to listen to music, watch movies, read e-books, and play some games like monopoly and scrabble. Yes, the memory is an issue but luckily you can use an SD card to save most of your applications on it. You can save all your music, movies, games, and e-books on the SD card without using up the little space that's available on the pocket pc. Also, it does not have wi-fi or blue tooth capabilities unless you buy a wi-fi card. This wasn't an issue for me since my daughter won't be going on the internet with this device. Also, the processor is a little slow with restarting the device or loading programs compared to my own pocket pc, the ipaq h4150. With a little patients though, it's not that big of a deal. One last thing I didn't care for much is that you can't swap out the battery unless you use a T5 Torq screwdriver to open the back panel. Again, not a big deal but if you travel and don't have access to a plug or cigarette lighter in your car, it could be an issue. All in all a great device but consider what your using it for before you buy.

Was pleased initially with this basic PDA. Did what I needed which was setting appointments, editing/views Word Docs. Viewing PDFs to act as a e-book reader while waiting a various places. But it has begun to freeze each time it reminds me of an appointment while it is charging on the dock. Major blemish to an otherwise lightweight and handy device.

This pda has everything that you need as far as applications. Memory is an issue.
