Compaq iPAQ USB AutoSync Cable

Compaq iPAQ USB AutoSync Cable

  • Synchronize your iPAQ Pocket PC at home and the office
  • USB-compatible connectivity
  • 3-foot cable connects iPAQ to your PC
  • Connectivity without needing to carry a charging cradle with you

We have been using this cable with our 3650 model systems to connect to a gps unit for data collection and for syncronizing out in the field with NT systems and it works great for that. However, we got some new 3850 ipaqs, and they have changed the connector, so it does not work with 3850, so just be forwarned!

The Mighty Mini Laser - Portable Laser Show

The Mighty Mini Laser - Portable Laser ShowI was undecided on whether or not to buy this item after reading many favorable but several very unfavorable reviews of the Pocket Laser Light Show. I figured for the price I would take a chance and I'm glad I did. For the money this thing is awesome! Yes, I guess if someone was expecting a recreation of what they saw at a Floyd concert they will be disappointed but if they are expecting that from a $15 toy they probably won't have the mental capacity to install the batteries correctly anyway.

This thing is so small you can hold it in your hand or carry it in your pocket but it provides a pattern of 10 feet in diameter or more depending on the distance you place it from a wall. The cool thing about it is that you can manually change the pattern to any number of shapes using the two switches and two control wheels. You can also have it stay on one pattern or even set it to automatic and let it just put on a show. Obviously the darker the room the better the effect will be. In a pitch black room you get almost a 3D effect.

I bought one to use in creating a "laser vortex" effect for my Halloween display and it worked great. I had the option of a round or triangular vortex and it was plenty bright.

I think this thing would be a great present for a a child between 6 and 16 or an adult who just loves gadgets (like me).

For the price, this is one of the most amazing little gadgets I've ever gotten my grubby paws on. It has variable speed, pattern and direction controls... or just set it on auto and let it do its thing! For everyone who loved all those Pink Floyd Lasarium shows years ago...

This laser is pretty fun. It is reeally small, thoughi.e. it really does fit in your pocket. I like it a lot, but the only thing I could say that's wrong with it is it's not very bright. The room has to be pretty dark for it to be impressive. Also, the actual laser projection isn't very wide unless you move the laser really far away from the wall or ceiling that you're projecting it on. But for the price it's a pretty sweet lil gadget.

When this arrived, there was something rattling around in the case, and the light show only showed as VERY faint and fuzzy, only viewable on a relatively close surface (less than a couple of feet). Seems one of the two rotating mirrors had fallen off, and what I was seeing was the reflection off of the adhesive disk. So I opened the case (voiding my warranty, I bet), and simply stuck the mirror back on the adhesive, and it works fine.

So, other than the initial hiccup, feel pretty good about it, and am going to buy another (since its so easy to fix if the same thing happens).

Compaq iPAQ 250111-001 Micro Keyboard for 3800, 3900, 5400 series

Compaq iPAQ 250111-001 Micro Keyboard for 3800, 3900, 5400 seriesWhile I should have been more cognizant of the scale of this product from the picture on this detail page, I had envisioned it as more of an ergonomic piece that I could wrap my fingers around and type with my thumbs. Unfortunately, it feels about 80% of the size I was hoping it would be. The keys are tactile, as they are raised, but they're just slightly too small for thumb typing at a better rate than hunting and pecking with the onscreen keyboard. The advantage of the mini keyboard is that, unlike the fullsize keyboards, you don't need a flat surface on which to type. However, the iPaq feels slightly unbalanced in the too-small unit and, rather than using the unit to support the iPaq, I find myself resting the iPaq on a desktop or on my lap. In summary, the typing speed gain isn't significant enough for me to recommend this unit to everyone given it's hefty price tag.

It seems like a neat idea, and it's nice and compact. however if you get into to a typing frenzy, your thumbs tend to cover up your vision of the keys you need to type, and you get lost easily and have to keep looking down at the keyboard to get your bearings. There's supposed to be a button to press in order to disengage it from the iPAQ so you don't break it. The first time I pressed it, it got permanently locked into the "release" position. It still stays on firmly and i can just tug at it to loosen it, but the button was worthless. typing might still be faster if you just use the stylus on the digital keyboard that pops up onscreen.

Compaq iPAQ 3150 Monochrome Pocket PC

Compaq iPAQ 3150 Monochrome Pocket PC
  • What's in the box: iPaQ 3150, Two Styli, Vinyl slipcase, AC adapter, USB cable, Rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery, CD-ROM Software, User Manual

I got this unit as a present for Christmas 2001. Nice unit, fast, when compared to my previous handheld. They have been discontinued by Compaq, so there are not a whole lot of places selling them. But if you can pick one up for under [price], it's worth the price.

Yes, it does not have the color screen of it's more expensive brothers. But it also doesn't have the shorter battery life. It also uses all the same accessories of it's big brothers.

I got mine to replace my Palm IIIe. I added a Compact Flash adapter and the upgrade to PocketPc 2002. I use it to read my Email, keep my schedule, and listen to music as an MP3 player on planes when I travel.

I was already using MS Outlook XP as my PIM manager on my laptop and desktop, so it took all my settings and schedules and imported them without a hitch. And not needing any outside sync program was a cost savings too.

Overall, not a bad bargain for all those features.

Buy Compaq iPAQ 3150 Monochrome Pocket PC Now

The iPAQ is a worthy machine in most points, it's 206 Mhz processor gives it much more power than other PDA platforms, even when WindowsCE is essentially slower than PalmOS or similar systems, in this system it flies and you gain all the confortable handlign and options you get with WinCE.

Pros: Durable metal construction wich gives the unit a great look.

Prebuilt in LiIon batteries wich save you the worry of constantly purchasing batteries or exchanging externally rechargeable ones.

It is very fast.

The interface, and included programs are more than basic, it bring programs for MANY basic jobs, more than similar PDAs. And some software like the new version of Windows Media Player have a beautyfull easy to use interface.

Cons:

The stylus casing is slightly precarious, if you push your stylus in with too much pressure it'll become jammed in it's socket causing some trouble to get it out again.

The screen has a very very good resolution but the contrast even at it's highest level is not much so peopel with poorer vision would have troubles reading the screen.

The character recognition system is very fast BUT it would be very troublesome for a pilot user to learn since the signs are diferent and to my oppinion less intuitive, also for it's speed in recognizing characters I feel it quite less acurate than the pilot based versions and the input glyphs for leters like G are really cumbersome.

Basically this is a sweet unit, very expansible, very configurable and that even from the box brings enought functionality to keep you busy and organized for a good long time.

Ps. If you want a device that will still work for a few years for a cheap price, with very good response this is it... if you have more money to spend, and time to use it and wait I'd suggest one of the newer H68xx line models, wich being newer and having a diferent expansion connector will see expansions for a longer time in the future.

Want Compaq iPAQ 3150 Monochrome Pocket PC Discount?

I owned an ipaq 3150 for about two months before I decided that it was just too big to be practical. I needed a device that would fit comfortably in my pocket... I guess I figured that I could get by with 16 mb and not need to use the expansion sleeve. But the memory dissappeared rapidly and I discovered how bulky the thing is with the sleeve on. Bulky and heavy. I really enjoyed my use of this PDA, however; the large screen is nice for Ebooks and photos, if you can stand the monochrome display. If you can get by without the sleeve, the PC itself is quite sleek and attractive. I bought it in the first place because it seems less expensive than it's color relatives, but recently prices have plummetted and a thinner machine with a color display is no longer unaffordable.

This is a great product. However, I dropped mine in October, 2001. Compaq has sent it back TWICE without doing anything to it, AND the repair was prepaid. Bottom line is Compaq and Customer Service are mutually exclusive terms. I don't care how highly a Compaq product is rated. I will never buy anything that says Compaq again.

SanDisk SDSDB-64-A10 Secure Digital 64 MB
  • High transfer rate for fast copy/download
  • 64 MB storage capacity
  • Low battery consumption to maximize battery life in small portable devices
  • Operating shock rating of 2,000 Gs, equivalent to a 10-foot drop to the floor
  • 5-year warranty

With so many extra Palm software titles available, most Palm units 8 megabytes and fewer don't seem to have enough memory.

The SanDisk 64 MB SD card for your PDA comes in handy as a place to store documents, programs, photos, and games you don't use daily but want nearby.

Just plug it into your memory slot and save over to the card. It's that easy. Also, you may want to consider a program like "Filez," (there are others) which will help you determine which files are on the card.

Two kids and a dog. I can't help but carry pictures of them to show them off. Photos take too much memory, so I purchased the card and put the photos on it as well as PDF files and reading materials. It's great not to clutter and slow down the PDA with these files that are housed on the card. Only complaint is that it's slow to load the items on the card.

Whenever I go to my photos, it takes longer to get them loaded than if they were on the PDA's memory. But, if the photos are in the PDA itself, then it uses up precious space.

I just used it with a card reader that I bought and the reader read the files quickly. It's small and lightweight -easy for people to lose and misplace. But, I keep the card in except for when loading its data into the card reader.

Corsair Carbide Series Black 400R Mid Tower Computer Case (CC-9011011-WW)

Corsair Carbide Series Black 400R Mid Tower Computer Case
  • Built-in compatibility for SSDs in the six hard drive bays gives you the flexibility you need.
  • Front panel includes USB 3.0, Headphone, Mic, and an LED on/off switch.
  • Keep your system cool with up to 10 fan mount locations (four 120mm, six 120mm/140mm)
  • Up to 316mm of length for modern GPUs.
  • Easily accessible dust filters keep the cool air flowing over your valuable components.
  • Captive thumbscrews make it easy to remove your side panels without losing the screws.
  • Install or upgrade your CPU heatsink quickly with the easy-access backplate cutout.
  • Optimize airflow and keep your system neat and tidy using the intelligent cable management system.

Corsair makes some of the world's best PC enclosures; just read all the critical acclaim and awards that their Obsidian and Graphite Series cases have garnered. I had the chance to review the Graphite Series White 600T about six months ago, and was impressed with its interior space, cable management, flexible cooling options and Corsair's attention to detail. Despite the impressive performance and features of the Graphite and Obisidian Series cases, there's no question that the premium price kept Corsair's enclosures out of reach for many people--until now.

To complete their offering of high-performance cases, Corsair has introduced the Carbide Series mid-tower case. As their entry-level case, the 400R promises "everything you need, nothing you don't" at an MSRP of $99.99. Let's see if the 400R lives up to that promise.

PROS:

Plenty of interior space

Supports up to 10 case fans

Built-in SSD mounting

Excellent cable management

Fantastic value

CONS

Reset switch too close to fan LED on/off switch

IN THE BOX

* Quick start guide

* USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 adapter

* Zip ties and wire mounts

* Motherboard standoffs

* Motherboard screws

* Hard drive and optical drive screws

* Power supply screws

* Fan screws

AESTHETICS

The exterior of 400R has a very clean and simple design. It doesn't stand out like the Obsidian or Graphite Series cases do, but the simple design will probably appeal to a lot of people. It's also a more typical mid-tower size than the 600T.

At 18.5 lbs, the 400R is almost 10 pounds lighter than the 600T. The dimensions are also smaller, all the way around. If you have furniture with say, a standard-sized computer stand or you just need something smaller for your space, the 400R should work out nicely. Like the 600T, the 400R uses a mixture of steel and molded ABS plastic.

As an added convenience, the 400R has a carry handle in the front, which makes it easy to carry around to LAN parties. I also use it to store USB cables for quick access.

INSTALLATION

Installing components in the 400R was comfortable and easy because of the roomy interior space. The 400R doesn't have the unique latch mechanisms for the side panels like the 600T, but I didn't mind using the standard thumb screws. The screws are also conveniently attached to the side panels so you don't misplace them. The muscular design of the side panels not only make them look cooler, but also increases the space at the sides. This made reattaching the right panel a lot easier. In fact, I didn't even bother spending the time to tidy up the cables on the right side because the panel shut easily without doing so. If you're a total neat freak though, there are a fair number of tie-down loops and Corsair even includes a few nylon zip ties.

The motherboard was easy to drop into the 400R, even without a motherboard tray. Large heatsinks also aren't a problem because of the large CPU cutout. In my initial build, I had a stock air cooler installed and later installed a Corsair H80 water cooler. Because of the CPU cutout, I didn't have to remove the entire motherboard, just to install mounting brackets for the water block--score! The PSU install was also a cinch and I was able to rout the ATX 8-pin power connector to the motherboard via the cutout for it.

Like the 600T, the 400R has plastic drive caddies. I noticed that the caddies on the 400R are a bit more flexible than the ones in the 600T, but it made no difference in mounting the drives. Hard drives snapped right in to the caddies, without having to mess around with screws or rails. SSD drives can also be mounted into the same caddies, but with the use of screws. This means you no longer have to buy SSD desktop kits or use velcro to safely mount your SSD drive.

Optical drives are even simpler to install, since they use the same tool-free mechanism as the 600T. Just slide the optical drive in until it clicks and you're done; no screws or rails to slow you down.

Expansion cards pose no installation problems for the 400R and the bracket covers are vented for better airflow. You get eight PCI-E slots with support for up to 316mm (12.4 inch) long expansion cards. So yeah, if you want to set up SLI or CrossFire, the 400R has you covered.

The last thing I want to mention about working inside the 400R are the cable-routing holes. If you read my review of the 600T, then you already know how much I like Corsair's cable-routing holes. They allow me to keep the case free of cable clutter, resulting in unrestricted airflow and a better looking case.

COOLING

The 400R comes with three 120mm fans--one rear exhaust and two front intake. The front intake fans also have white LEDs. With the default number of fans, the 400R has good cooling and is pretty quiet. However, if you have greater cooling requirements, the 400R supports up to 10 total fans. You can even install a 240mm radiator at the top of the case. Obviously, cooling options on the 400R are plentiful.

MISCELLANEOUS

The 400R's I/O panel is conveniently located at the top and includes 2 x USB 3.0 ports, power switch, HDD LED, mic and headphone jacks, FireWire (1394) port, fan LED on/off switch, and a reset switch. The only issue I had with the I/O panel was that the fan LED on/off switch is located just above the reset switch. Twice, I accidentally hit the reset switch when I meant to hit the fan LED switch. Granted, this happened in the dark, but they're so close together, I could see myself and others hitting the wrong switch even in the daylight.

The 400R also comes with a USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 converter for the motherboard, which is a nice touch. Additionally, the I/O cables are neatly wrapped in a black cover and clearly labeled. I know it's minor, but it's probably the best looking I/O cables I've seen yet for a PC enclosure.

Finally, I just want to mention another example of the detail that Corsair paid with the 400R. To install optical drives on the 400R, you have to remove the entire front panel of the case. Seasoned system builders have performed this act, countless times in their careers. It goes something like this: unclip the stupid plastic tabs located all over the left and right sides, partially pull the front panel out, unclip the stupid tabs again that clipped back in, then finally remove the front panel completely.

Removing the front panel of the 400R is a different story and it goes something like this: pull the front panel out. Done. The 400R doesn't use plastic tabs. It's a little hard to describe, but the 400R uses a circular metal tab that when you give it a quick pull, the entire front panel comes out without fuss. Those Corsair engineers are pret-ty smart.

CONCLUSION

The Corsair Carbide Series 400R mid-tower case has hit its mark. For $99, you probably shouldn't expect too much out of an ATX case, but the 400R has raised the bar. The 400R gives system builders and enthusiasts an affordable alternative to Corsair's higher-end enclosures, without sacrificing a whole lot. You still get the same Corsair-grade build quality, support, tool-free design, cable-routing holes, roomy interior, flexible cooling and good looks. So yeah, you could say that the 400R has lived up to its billing, and is a great way to step into a Corsair case without breaking the bank. I highly recommend it.

Buy Corsair Carbide Series Black 400R Mid Tower Computer Case (CC-9011011-WW) Now

I purchased this case the end of December 2011 and did not have USB 3.0 functionality on both front ports testing with 3 different USB 3.0 storage devices. The back Intel DZ68BC board USB 3.0 header/ports worked fine. Corsair sent a replacement that appeared to be used (visible using a 10x loupe) that was received the first week of January 2012. Of the two USB 3.0 front ports with the replacement, only one functions as USB 3.0. Corsair will again send another replacement front header that is supposed to be "new". Either I am unlucky or who ever makes the parts for Corsair is using inferior parts for their series 400 R cases regarding front USB 3.0 front headers.

Beyond the USB 3.0 front panel connectivity issue I really like the case overall design.

Coming from an Antec 900 (still in use), can't help but compare:

Antec 900 Pros: Somewhat better build quality. HDDs and drive bay covers screw in. Cooling is better out-of-box, with the helicopter fan on top, and fan switches to control speed. See-through panel. Looks sleeker, IMO.

Carbide 400R Pros: Cable management and ergonomics. No contest here. With all of my drives and Corsair TX750 transferred from the Antec, it was MUCH easier to tuck cables out of the way behind the motherboard panel, thanks to lots of rubberized holes around the motherboard mounting, the rear-facing orientation of the hard drive bays (the HDD trays fit the drives very snuggly), and the extruded side panel. Makes for plenty of room in the case for GPUs. Looks stodgier by comparison, but I don't really care.

Couple gripes: the HDD trays -if you try to install an SSD, the retainer clip for HDDs gets in the way. Also, what's with the current fad of putting USB ports right above optical drive bays? Sure it makes for easy access, but dangling cables can block ejecting trays.

Really nice case overall. Would buy it again for a new build.

Edit: You can remove the pins in the HDD trays for mounting an SSD by removing the entire pin bar.

This is a really great case, and the radiator of the H100 water cooler that it's designed to hold fits great... Until you try to put the motherboard in. Once I put my motherboard in, the radiator (plus stock fans) was touching parts of the board, and totally blocking access to the fan plugs along the top edge of the board. Now this might not be the case for your board, but in general I would have liked to have seen extra space to prevent this.

My solution was to put the fans for the radiator on the outside of the case (top) and put grills on them keep anything from getting in the fans. It looks silly, but luckily I'm more interested in performance than looks at this point.

If the case would have had more room to keep the H100 away from the board, I would have given it 5 stars.

I bought one of these for my 17" monitor and I HATED it. One of my employees wanted one as well so I bought the 19" for him. For some reason it works wonderfully for him! Maybe it was the angle of the screen? On my monitor it cast a bad gold glow over everything but on his it is clear. I have an older monitor so maybe just the pitch of the glass does not allow for this type of screen. Anyway, he loves it and it looks cool too. Bummed I can't use it too.

Hi, I bought this screen and I am in a big disappointment.

First of all it does not do the job it protect the data on screen from other's eyes only with a very big viewing angle, otherwise everyone can see what is on screen.

Second, it darkens the sides of the screen (corners and sides) for the user who sit right in front of the screen.

Third, it is TOO glare you almost looking at the mirror!

Not good!

rooCASE Neoprene Sleeve (Magenta) Carrying Case for Western Digital My Passport Essential 500GB Port

rooCASE Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case for Western Digital My Passport Essential 500GB Portable Hard Drive WDBACY5000ABL Pacific BlueThis case isn't the right size for me to believe it was made for My Passport hard drives, it's just a little bit too big (I'd say a little over an inch longer and a 1/2 inch wider than needed). With that being said, I still gave it four stars because it's cute, soft, and seems well made. The extra room doesn't bother me, and actually probably makes it easier to store the cord along with the hard drive.

This is a well made little case that my EHD fits in perfectly. It has an outside zippered pocket which makes it double as a cute little clutch.

Solid State Yellow Design Protective Skin Decal Sticker for Palm Centro Cell Phone

Solid State Yellow Design Protective Skin Decal Sticker for Palm Centro Cell Phone
  • Solid State Yellow art-quality design.
  • Decal skin sticker - non permanent adhesive backing that allows you to simply peel off the skins with no sticky residue.
  • Scratch resistant protective shields made out of high-quality vinyl.
  • Personalize your Palm Centro cell phone with this printed design vinyl decal.
  • Comes with a code to download the matching wallpaper (as shown)

Very nice Decorative skin. Because the stickers are only on the front and back and not on the sides or over the keyboard I can't see it actually being protective but it does do a decent job of making the phone look a different color. My only gripe is that the sticker on the back covers the entire back and won't allow the back cover to be removed. This can easily be fixed by a simple cut, I did so on mine and it still looks good.

This case fits my iPad 2 perfectly. The product works exactly as it is described including the magnetic sleep mode. It works just like the Apple magnetic case, but this is so much better because the back is also protected. The leather is very supple and the color is a nice pale pink, just like the picture. Shipping was very quick. Thanks for the great bargain!!!

Although this was a lovely shade of pink it was a completely non-functional case. The iPad sits on the back and is not secured and slid out in all but one position. The problem could easily be fixed if they put tabs or even elastic staps in the corners to secure the iPad. I promptly returned the case and found a much more functional case at Amazon for a better price. I would not recommend this case.

I had a smart cover from Apple. I paid $40 for a polyurethane cover that only protected the front of my iPad. Now this case is made of beautiful leather and covers the front and back of the iPad for the same amount. No brainer this case is worth the $$. I haven't had any problems with the sleep/wake function that some others complained about with other Roocases. I have had other Roocases too and I think they wear in nicely too. You can't go wrong with Amazon and Roocase.

Perhaps I just received a defective one, but the smart cover was terrible. Any tiny vibration caused the iPad to repeatedly turn on and off if, for example, it was sitting on a table and someone walked into the room. Even while holding the iPad with the cover closed, I couldn't move more than required for breathing without the screen coming back on. The iPad was securely snapped into the back cover without any wiggle room, but it just did not work properly for me. It was disappointing, because the color and texture were very appealing, I'd give it 5 stars in the looks department, but I simply couldn't have the screen flashing on and off constantly while carrying the iPad around in my bag, so I returned it.

Tapwave T2907US Zodiac 2 Multimedia Handheld

Tapwave T2907US Zodiac 2 Multimedia Handheld
  • The Motorola i.MX1 ARM9 processor provides uncompromised performance in a very power-efficient design
  • Between these smart power-saving technologies and high-capacity batteries, you'll be able to go, do and play longer between charges
  • Basically, it's a game console that fits in your pocket
  • Yamaha audio component, stereo speakers, and earbud-style headphones produce rich sound
  • Premiere titles from the industry's leading publishers increase the fun

I'm a long time Palm (and Pocket PC) user and have never really been 100% happy with any device I've gotten. Some came close...my wonderful Sony Clie 710C was awesome in its day. I've enjoyed the Sony Clie line for its superb color screens and cutting-edge features. But they are expensive and more recently, seemed to be falling behind. I was darn tired of having to upgrade the RAM in order to have something useable so when I heard about the Tapwave Zodiac 2 which offered an unbelievable 128 Meg of RAM I was immediately interested. After checking the specs I determined to be one of the first to get one of these devices. Gaming is secondary to it being a good Palm device, but definitely a HUGE plus for me.

My first reaction when I got it was how awesome the screen was! It definitely rivaled any other Palm device out there, and people always comment on it when I show them. The huge amount of RAM is just a joy to have. You can even load MP3s on it, although certainly using a good size SD card works even better. Don't miss the double card slots! Another feature you won't find on any other Palm device.

Video playback is great using MMPlayer (ditch the crappy Kinoma it comes with) and MP3 music is quite excellent. Battery life is excellent compared to other Palm color devices, and landscape and portrait options make things like reading ebooks and viewing photos even better. Bluetooth works great, I have no trouble downloading email over my cellphone.

So, how is it as a gaming device? Compared to other Palm devices, this device blows them out of the water! The number of available games specifically for the Zodiac is still fairly small (although there are some excellent games out there now) but having access to the full library of Palm games means I have more games loaded on it then I ever will have time to play. The included game, Stunt Car Extreme, is excellent and shows great potential for this device.

Overall, as a gaming device alone, I probably would not recommend the Zodiac, simply because there are better, cheaper options out there. But if you need or want a PDA that does multimedia and gaming, you won't find a better choice, and at a very reasonable price.

February 2005 Followup Well, I've had this Zodiac for sometime now and it's still going strong. I've never had any analog button issues like some of the first models (like I have) commonly had, and with a screen protector, it still looks pretty good. I have the new WiFi card which makes it great for quick email checks and browsing the web. I do also use the bluetooth with my cell phone for email when Wifi is not available, so pretty much can do email anywhere. Still haven't managed to fill up the memory. I do sometimes have problems with it getting locked up and draining power, seems to be some issues with Preferences, and changing the auto-off will usually clear the issue for a time. Also the shoulder buttons are getting a bit loose. A bit of a design flaw, IMO, due to the flimsy plastic they are made with. Overall though, I still love my Zodiac and have kept it longer than most PDAs I've had.

It seems all the worth while PDA's are going for about $400 these days. So, I decided to check out the Zodiac 2 from Tapwave (that and I do have a bit of a gaming streak in me). I was worried that the Zodiac gaming aspect would overshadow the PDA functionality of the device. I was wrong. This has got to be the perfect PDA, and definately the best on the market right now. All palm applications I have from my Sony Clie' ownership have transfered over with out any difficulty (other than some OS5 limits, that would affect any OS5 based unit) And more stuff I'm finding on the Internet is installing and running with zero problems. It's just amazing to find a new platform with "out of the box" community support like the Zodiac.

The screen is georgous. The sound is top rate (though, get a better set of head phones that the included ones to get the real impact of the Yamaha sound chip.) And with 128 Meg memory (Z2 only), it's the best packed Palm platform currently available. Not to mention blue tooth and 2 memory card slots. The Tapwave folks didn't miss a thing with the Zodiac.

Some things I hope to see in the future are more support from software of the well weighted analog thumbstick, and more support of the high res screen. Some support is already out there with the Sony units being in the high res areana already, and Palm getting there. But, missing out on this full 480x360 resolution makes some older palm based tasks on the Zodiac really miss out.

Finally, if you worried about games, don't. This baby plays all the great Palm/Sony platform games already available. 1000's of them. While the Tapwave specific games really shine, they are not all that's available. This handheld has the most games available for it than any other currently on the market or in the future. Plus, you can get emulators to play older handheld games. Like the Firestorm emulator http://www.crimsonfire.com/firestorm/ that plays all GB and GB Color games, and soon GBA. That alone makes this the best handheld unit available. Sony's PSP won't ever do that. Though in it's defense, it will do some other things the Zodiac won't. (yep, looks like I'll have to get both :) ).

Bottom line. Need a PDA get a Zodiac.

The Zodiac is the solution for anyone who's sick carrying around both their PDA and gameboy at the same time. The Zodiac offers the best of both worlds, (much better than the gameboy actually) whether you what some real 3D gaming or, as Tapwave puts it, want to organize your life. Indeed both of those things will happen, the Zodiac is an uber cool device that works just as advertised, maybe even better.

I spent about 2 months doing research on PDA's trying to find one that would best suit my needs, at first I looked at the Zire 71 (before the 72 had come out), and it seemed pretty cool, so I then naturally decided to check out what Palm"s game selection was like knowing all too well that I'd be spending much of my time with games. After about 5 minutes I came to the conclusion that judging by the game selection (quality not quantity-wise mind you) that palm simply couldn't deliver what I yearned for in gaming.

Having remembered a small review of the zodiac (...for those of us too old for a gameboy...) I decided to check out what it really was like first hand. Shortly after my visit to Tapwave's snazzy site I realized that this was the PDA for me, it was a true miniture game console, somewhere around as good as the PS1(heck it's only about 100MHz shy of the PS2) but not quite as good as the N64 (though the graphics look sharper on a LCD than a TV).

Several weeks later, after I'd earned the money I recieved my zodiac 2 ($100 more for 4x the memory of the Zodiac 1, can't knock that) and almost started drooling over the gorgeous screen. This really is the PDA of choice for those who must have quality 3D gaming but can't wait for the PSP, want a fully functional PDA and concider gaming an added bonus, or just want to have the coolest gaget on the block, no matter what your reason you'll almost certainly love your zodiac.

Also note: Mac users, you have every right to the zodiac as someone running Windows, so it really does seem like an outrage that the zodiac is not directly Mac compatable, but don't fear any longer if you buy The Missing Sinc for Tapwave you can use your Zodiac just like you had a Windows machine for $40 (see MacCentral for a link).

I have owned 7 palm devices prior to purchasing this one. Palm V->Vx->m505->Kyocera 6035->Visor Prism->Visor Edge->Tungsten T. I have been in love with the Palm OS from day one. Also, before the release of the Vx, I have been on a quest for more memory, color screens, better screen resolution, bigger screens and yes, more memory.

First, I bought this for the 128 mb of memory. The Tungsten T5 has come out since with more memory and for the first time in the history of my palm use, I do not have palm envy. Second was the incredible screen. I wanted a Palm device on which I could display my digital photos. This gadget has become my photo wallet. In addition, I wanted more screen real estate for ebook reading. I have downloaded right around 100 books, 90% of them purchased. The trigger buttons on the top allow for more ergonomic reading in a great landscape mode. The background is clear and bright and the words very legible. My third reason for choosing this device was the battery life. I seriously considered a Tungsten 3. I already had the Palm Power to go which I had been using with my Tungsten T. Still the memory and the screen won out not to mention *2* sd card slots. I would never be at a loss for memory.

The mp3 player works very well, although I already owned an ipod. The only function that I have not used is the movie playing capability. Perhaps I will grow into that.

In the meantime, it is a singular device that I am extremely pleased with. I have installed all of the software that I currently want, plus my books, using just over half of the memory. There are idiosyncracies of the design that take some getting used too, e.g. using two buttons to display the 4 pim apps, or whatever you choose to put in their stead, and a funky launcher that I have come to enjoy. A car charger would be very nice.

Now that the Zodiac has wireless capability, it is ready for prime time. The bluetooth capability in the meantime has served well.

As I said in my Zodiac 2 review at Tapland, the Zodiac reminds me of a luxurie SUV that, when you look under the hood, also contains a powerful motor. "While being marketed as a hand-held game console that runs off of Palm OS 5.2, the Zodiac reminds me of the Dodge Durango some people like it for its smooth ride and body design but the guys are focused on one thing: the HEMI power under the hood. That is what attracted me to the Zodiac. Not the enhanced graphics and game controls as much as the awesome PDA "under the hood.""

All that being said, there is nothing like being able to whip out your PDA (I consider it a PDA more thatn a gaming console due to the way I use it) and play Doom II or race around the track in Stunt Car Extreme.

I have had my Z2 for about 4 months now and still consider it to be the best PDA on the market, bar none.

Navitech Black Executive Premium Leather Flip Carry Case With Adjustable Stand & Anit -Glare Dual La

  • This Protector Film is made of high quality plastic and is very lightweight and impact resistant & protects your screen from scratches and removes glare

NOTE: Fortunately Amazon has the following notice on this item: "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

Before buying this case for my Acer Iconia Tab W500 10.1 inch tablet, I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews--not just at Amazon--over a period of two weeks. In one of the reviews, a woman stated that she didn't like a case she bought because of the horrible odor but it would cost too much to return it to the supplier in Europe so she was stuck with it. I then made a mental note to be sure I didn't buy one from a foreign manufacturer.

But guess what! Amazon didn't give the location of the supplier in the details, and in my naivete as a new Amazon user, I assumed that I could return the case to Amazon in the unlikely event that it wasn't what I expected. I now have a case with a bad odor that costs $60-$100 to return to England! It's advertised as "premium" leather, so I wasn't concerned until I received it and found that it did have a strong, horrendous odor. I promptly placed it in my utility room in hopes the odor would dissipate. Because I was anxious to get a case to protect my tablet, I checked it every day to see if I could use it. Although I already had a bag to carry the tablet, keyboard, and accessories, I wanted more protection for the tablet while I was using it. After a week the odor seemed to have dissipated, and I gladly tried it on my tablet.

The case fit perfectly, allowing access to all the buttons, both cameras, USB ports, etc. The tablet even attaches to the keyboard without the need to remove the case, and the built-in stand is nice because the tablet is somewhat top heavy. The magnetic closure is great. The tablet seems to be well shielded in case I accidentally drop it. At first I only used the tablet occasionally. But later, when I used it for an hour or so at a time I could smell the odor while using the tablet and I could still smell it on my hands until I washed them--sometimes after washing them.

So much for "premium" leather.

P.S. I still haven't applied the protector film on the screen so I can't comment on it.

Fire Red VG Pindar Edition Durable Messenger Shoulder Bag Case for Acer Aspire One AO722 AO725 AO756 AOD255 AOD255E 11.6 inch Netbook + SumacLife TM Wisdom Courage WristbandI had a different case for my Acer Aspire 11.6" netbook, but the zipper on that broke very quickly. Not wanting to take my chances with that company again, I relegated myself to spending $40 (including the $12 shipping), on this case. I wish that I hadn't had to pay so much for it, but will say that it is a very nice case. It fits perfectly and is durable, protective, and well made.

Hopefully by the time you are seeing this review, either the price has come down or there is a free shipping option, but even if you have to pay $40, like I did, you'll probably find that it is worth it. I'm not at all disappointed in it.

Proporta Nintendo DSi XL Waterproof Case - BeachBuoy

Proporta Nintendo DSi XL Waterproof Case - BeachBuoy
  • 100% Waterproof Case
  • Window dimensions: 115 x 88mm
  • Dimensions: 145 x 115mm
  • Closure System : two click seals and a velcro strip
  • Guaranteed waterproof to 5 metres/16 feet

Easy closure and so far seems to be waterproof, but can only be used with small items. This does not fit the DSi XL as Proporta claims. If I try to forcefully jam the XL into the pouch it will get part way in and then gets stuck. With electronics devices that are slimmer/narrower I can see this as a useful case for trips to the beach and pool.

It seems that Proporta are marketing this case on Amazon as a purpose built case for many different electronics devices do a search in Amazon on "Proporta Beachbuoy" to see a large range of Beachbuoy cases that are claimed to fit various specific electronics devices. As far as I can tell, though, these are all in fact the same case and so, if your electronics device is more than about 21cm around its cross-section, I would look elsewhere for a case.
