Powermat 2X Wireless Charging Mat

Powermat 2X Wireless Charging Mat
  • Includes a Brand New PowerMat Portable Mat (PMM-PT100) in Retail Packaging
  • Connect your device(s) to a Powermat Receiver or PowerMat Door
  • A magnetic attraction between every Receiver and each access point on every Mat assures that alignment is precise
  • A unique sound tells you that a solid connection has been made and your device is charging.
  • Includes a blue CCMaccessories Neck Strap / Lanyard

I received this for a Mothers Day present from my DH. I it took me a long while to figure it out. After reading the brief directions and still being confused (how is it wireless?) I went to the website. What I figured out is this: You plug the mat itself in to an electrical outlet. You then have to plug each device into that mat either thourgh the one USB port on the side or with the one univeral receiver provided. To charge more devices at the same time you will need to purchase (at approx $30 each) additional universal receivers that will plug into your additinal devices. If you want true wireless charging you will need to purchase a device specific receiver for each device at approx. $40 each. And they don't offer wireless chargers for that many devices at this time. They state that more are coming in '10 and that they hope that in the future the chip will just be built into phones, MP3, etc. At this time I feel it is a "what is the point of this?" kinda of device. Way too expensive to do what you can do for free with the provided cords on your phone, etc.

So, I will be returning my thoughtful present and maybe in 5 or 10 years I will get another one, when they actual do what they say they will do for a reasonable price.

Buy Powermat 2X Wireless Charging Mat Now

The idea of a simple powermat to charge all your devices sounds great until you realize that every device you want to charge needs it's own receiver.....at $40 each it gets very expensive and it's not worth the money. Two stars for a great idea...but I sent mine back.

The powermat was not as handy as we had expected it to be -still had to plug in each individual device AND quit working entirely within the first week.

Based on the dimensions listed for this case, I bought it for my new XPS12 (Windows 8 Convertible Ultrabook).

The case fits perfectly and I am very happy with it.

I like this style of case better than any other for a small and light laptop like the XPS12.

Quality and construction seem good.

Highly recommended!

I was hoping that my laptop would slide in like a glove, since this product seems to have been made directly for it. Instead, there is about an inch of excess material around the top and side of the lap top. The material is a little too stretchy for my taste. If you use the front pocket for anything besides a CD or two, it winds up looking pregnant. I don't use this case very much, electing instead for a laptop-compatible book bag.

Cable didn't work for my treo 700p. When plugged into the phone, the computer played a weird sound. The computer knew the cable was there, but it wouldn't sink with the phone. I'm not entirely sure it is the fault of the cable though, I think there are other computer/phone related problems on my end!

This Palm 3170WW USB Desktop HotSync Cable is a better product than the one I received with our Tungsten E2. It fits in much better, where the original was always a struggle to get it in and have it stay in place. We are very pleased with this product and the cost was very reasonable.

Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000

Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000
  • Contour: it's familiar, yet modern - All the keys are the same size and in a familiar place, even with the contoured design.
  • The slim, glossy design saves space and makes a statement on your desktop.
  • Ergonomist-approved Comfort Curve design - The Microsoft Comfort Curve encourages natural wrist posture, plus it is easy to use.
  • Contour key bed - Designed to provide more direct key strikes for less finger effort.
  • Easy-access media keys Control your music and videos, and open the Calculator with the touch of a key.

I've used several Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 keyboards as well as the split Natural keyboard. I bought the 3000 to use for work at my programming job.

The first few days that I used the 3000, I wasn't sure if I going to like it. It was a little rough, but nowhere near the shock of getting used to the Natural keyboards. I spent the first couple of days mistyping somethings, but I'm used to it now.

A few points:

* Typing is very quiet. I work in an open area with others, so I like that I'm not making a lot of noise.

* There's not a lot of tactile feedback. Pretty much the opposite of the old IBM PS/2 keyboards. That took a little while to get used to, but the smoothness and quiet makes it worth it.

* The keyboard feels much more solid and the keys don't feel as cheap and unsure as they did on the 2000.

* My main complaint of the 2000 was the noisy, sloppy, piece of junk space bar. This is fixed in the 3000. The space bar is quiet and tight -it feels like all the other keys.

* It is a nice space saver.

* I really like the placement of the delete key.

* My beloved calculator key and volume keys are there, but this time they don't take up so much real estate!

Was using an Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard MB110LL/A but turned out to be quite uncomfortable. Picked this as I was looking around and I remember the old Natural Keyboard being nice, if a little hefty.

The keyoard is compact, and light. The keys have a good feel and the curve and the bulge in the middle is very comfortable. Note that there is no gap between the arrow keys and the numeric keypad.

Really liking it.

There are great key points already hit in the other four and five star reviews, but I would love to add one thing. "This has got to be the quietest keyboard I have ever used." I have a pet peeve with loud keyboards. They are like nails on a chalk board. I can type super fast without hearing one button click.

I do not use Windows, so I was happy to see all of the controls, such as the volume buttons, worked perfectly with Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10.

Want Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 Discount?

All in all, this is a well designed keyboard that helps my hand positions. I want to mention some details to supplement some of the other comments floating around.

The GOOD: Ergonomics and OSX Compatibility

The nice thing about the keyboard is that the curve on the Y and Z axis really seem to improve the positions of my wrists as opposed to the traditional keyboard. I used to have a Microsoft Natural Keyboard but that thing is particularly large. This is a good solution if size is of concern. It sits low on the desk and doesn't have the large wrist supporting frame like the Natural Keyboard. This works for me. I find that the profile of the keyboard and my wrists/arms on desk position are natural.

That said, ergonomics have a lot to do with not just the keyboard but the desk and chair you use. I am using an Ikea Galant desk that is height adjustable and a Herman Miller Mirra task chair. I have both adjusted so that my posture is planted pretty optimally, with my elbows 90 degrees to my sitting position, resting on the arm rests and the desk height level with my arm/hands. My arms are comfortably horizontal when approaching the keyboard. Before this, my desk was too high forcing my arms into a "snake ready to strike" / hook-like position which was starting to hurt. It's good to prevent RSI.

Mac OS X somewhat compatible: Most keyboards will work sans the extra functionality of special keys. I wasn't expecting the play, volume up and down buttons to work but they do! (The calculator button doesn't do much and the num lock doesn't seem to work, so I guess 3/5)

The BAD: Possibly key press feel, number pad or not to number pad

I just recently purchased this product and my opinion on this is still in the air. The main issue I have with this keyboard is the feel of the key press / tactile feedback. It is quite mushy. I come from both Mac, Dell, and Microsoft keyboards and this one has a very damp, muted key press feel rather than a crisp one. Imagine putting a piece of felt underneath your keys. That's the best way I can describe it. As a consequence, the keys feel heavy. It is quiet though. I'll have to give it a week or so of use to see if I can get used to it.

The second problem (that I can't solve) is the number pad or not number pad question. Actually it has less to do with the number pad and more to do with what is between the num pad and regular keys, the arrow keys. Since I use this for programming, I need to use the arrow keys a LOT to navigate my code. A full-sized arrow key set is nice. If you want full-sized arrow keys, usually this means a full sized keyboard. However, the inclusion of a num pad leaves little desk space immediately in front of me for my mouse and mouse pad. Thus my mouse is way off to the right and I have to shift the keyboard and mouse left when I want to use it naturally. With a chopped off keyboard like the Mac bluetooth keyboard, my mouse resides in that position that would otherwise be taken by the num pad. This is more natural and productive. But then I have to deal with a small arrow key pad.

You can't win at everything and I suppose you need to make compromises somewhere but these are some of the issues I've run into.

The OTHER:

Some people complimented that this keyboard is small. It's not that small. As a matter of fact it's a tad bigger than my non-ergonomic Dell keyboard which includes a numeric pad. Being a full featured keyboard with num pad, it is of course larger than keyboards without. If you're a gamer, like mentioned the WASD layout is out of whack. I use this mostly for programming and so for touch type it's pretty comfortable.

The bottom line is that as a heavy typer, this keyboard is designed pretty well. Certain issues like the key feel could make or break it for you but it's also something that you can probably get used to. For $13 purchase price, you can't go wrong and it's a cheap price to pay compared to treatment of RSI.

Microsoft usually has made quality hardware products. The problems with this keyboard came as a surprise to me. I had picked it up for less than $20 at a local Radio Shack. Like other reviewers I had several keys that stopped responding after about a month. On my keyboard these were F, G and C. Using compressed air temporarily solved the problem but it would always return. Once this problem became permanent, this keyboard was sent to the recycle bin. I now have a no-fuss corded Logitech K120 keyboard. It has been without any problems and is recommended for a similar type of keyboard but with a better feel and without the mechanical problems of the Microsoft Comfort Curve 3000.

PDair V01 Black Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 / SGH-I717

PDair V01 Black Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 / SGH-I717Everything about this case is great with the exception of not having a cutout on the bottom to push phone up with finger when removing.

What happens is that the part of the phone that is exposed is where the volume buttons and on/off are. For me, every time I pull phone out (after it rings, and is active) it turns volume down, and if you do not pay attention, you will be getting silent calls.

The slightly annoying fix is to put your phone in the case upside down.

BTW, shipping was fast, but now there are many other cases that are at at fraction of the cost.

Great case! Style, functionality, all perfect. I use this case to go running with the note, and its like its not even there. It also looks great in pants that don't fit the massive Galaxy Note.

Ok, I have to admit, I was a little nervous about ordering this from China.

Let me put your concerns to rest.

Gotta tell ya, I love this case. It's is a quality product.

It shipped much faster than Amazon quoted me, very pleasantly surprised.

The soft leather feels great on the outside.

The inside has a harder textured plastic like feel to it.

The clip seems to be constructed well and works very nice on my belt.

It stays on when you take out or insert your phone, and pulls off nicely when you want the whole thing off your belt.

I've even bumped the bottom when sitting down and it stays securely on my belt.

It has a nice tight snug fit to hold the Galaxy Note.

I use a TPU case over the phone and the PDair case will expand enough to securely hold it and allow you to remove the phone without pulling the PDair off your belt, everything stays in place.

It has a stretchy material in between to allow for a little expansion.

If you feel this would suit your needs, I say go ahead and be confident with this purchase.

Instapark MP3450E-60 27,000 mAh Dual External Battery Pack & Universal Charger USB Port for Dell, IB

Instapark MP3450E-60 27,000 mAh Dual External Battery Pack & Universal Charger USB Port for Dell, IBM, Lenovo, HP, HTC Laptops, Netbooks, Computers, iPad2, iPad, iPhone 4S 4 3Gs 3G, iPod Touch, Motorola Droid, HTC Android Phone, Blackberry, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, HTC flyer and much more
  • High-capacity 27,000 mAh Li-ion rechargeable & portable battery pack
  • Simultaneously charges two devices: one 5V USB and the other voltage selectable 8.4V / 12V / 16V / 19V
  • Compatible with virtually all laptop computers, netbooks, USB compatible cell phones, tablet computers, MP3 Players, digital cameras, handheld game consoles & etc.
  • 4-LED battery level indicator & automatic switch on when a device is connected
  • Includes detachable 14,000 mAh battery pack doubles charging capacity

I also purchased a 10 watt solar panel from Instapark. Hiking in the mountains and camping the battery provided recharging for a tablet and cell phone. While gone during the day the 10 watt panel helped to recharge the battery for the evening recharging while perched on the tent. Beware that the model I bought does not include a charger with the battery. In the product info this was not to be found. However you are provided a few adapter tips to retask your laptop supply to quickly recharge the unit.

In the field with no power available except solar I was able to run for 5 days before the solar panel couldn't keep up enough of a charge and I had to seek an outlet. Next time I may attempt to use an array of three 10 watt foldable panels to keep things running, keeping each at a different angle to optimize the sun's changing position while I am away from basecamp.

The output tips are all tiny and L shaped. If your device's power isn't easily accessible, these will not fit. It's a major design flaw and it forced me to return the product. I'd recommend just getting two Astro3's instead.

The USB port is output only. You can only charge the device through the DC in. You must also supply your own charger.

  • Charging base built to support global power standards with universal 100-240 VAC input voltage range.

This product has proved to be a major asset for the golf course locker room. Using the different tips I have been able to recharge several phones, iPads, range finders etc. simultaneously for the members. I can't tell you many times a member has stopped and said, "LR, could you throw this on the charger for about 30 minutes or so? I was in mid conversation and it died." Then he'll leave for lunch or a beer, comes back picks up his phone, iPad etc. and off he goes. Really makes it nice for the member (and sometimes lucrative for me).

Before this the members were just plugging in thier device into a wall outlet in the locker room (if they had the charger with them) and leaving it unattended. Now I've put this charger behind my counter and the unit is in a more secure location and you don't have to step around somebody's iPhone laying on the floor plugged into the wall being recharged.

I just ordered some additional tips to keep up with the new models (about $6 ea) and to maintain flexiblity in different charging configurations.

WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner

WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner
  • Fully portable handheld pen scanner
  • Scans full lines of text in 8 languages
  • Stores up to 1,000 pages of text
  • Transfers text to PC, laptop, PDA, or cellular phone
  • Supports memory upgrades

I just purchased this handheld scanner because, as a PhD student and full-time manager, I have tons of reading to do. Before I purchased QuickLink, I either had to hand write or type notes into my PC, spend hours at a copier, or spend lots of time using a full-sized scanner to save the quotes and important text that I needed. Now, this WizCom scanner allows me to easily and quickly scan articles, books and other text no matter where I am (on a plane, in a hotel room, at work, or by the

pool). Then I can quickly upload the text into Word or WordPerfect (or other software programs) when I have the chance. Or, if I want, I can scan directly into a specific file.

Though it takes a while to get used to the pen and its menus, a previous reviewer was right on the money when they offered this tip "Put the pen in the "left-handed" mode, turn the material upside down and then scan from right to left. This lets the user "look ahead" along the desired pen track (printed line) and helps keep the scanning down the center of the line." THIS REALLY DOES WORK and makes scanning much faster and more precise. (I'm not sure, but if you are left-handed, the reverse directions might work for you.)

Now that I have the knack of using the QuickLink pen, I love it! It saves me tons of time and I can now scan only the text I want instead of copying the entire page. For the price and convenience, it's great.

Buy WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner Now

I wanted to like this Pen so much. I loved the portability and the versatility that it offered. But, it just didn't perform well enough to be useful. It is extremely slow. If you scan with pen as fast as you would a highlighter, your accuracy can vary anywhere from 25-50%. The highest accuracy I was able to get was scanning at about 3 seconds a line. But then there's another 2 seconds for the Pen register the information that's been scanned. The accuracy issue is pretty ridiculous. I tried a lot of different techniques to try and improve the accuracy, i.e. using a ruler, scanning slow, adjusting the angle at which I held the pen. But in the end, I found that it was faster to type the line rather than scan with the pen.

If you're looking for a fast and accurate handheld scanner, I strongly recommend the IRIS II Executive (Not the Standard). I ended up returning my Quick Link Pen and getting the IRIS II Exec instead. It's incredibly fast and more importantly incredibly accurate. I can scan faster than I would with a highlighter and I rarely get mistakes. I'm a Biochem Grad Student and I scan a lot of words that wouldn't seem easily recognized, but the IRIS II works like a champ.

Read Best Reviews of WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner Here

I use it every day and I am happily scanning references and notes. I then download the files via the serial port to the computer and insert the files into Word. No problems and a huge savings in time for me. It is a product I have wanted for years.

I have spent a load of time with this product and I know it pretty well. I want to warn you that at first you may have problems getting this device to work to its full capacity... But if you stick with it for a couple of days, you will eventually have a convenient hand held scanner that will work very well (so long as the text isn't poorly printed). But you do have to be persistent and practice makes perfect. Also, be sure to follow the instructions about how to hold the scanner and how to use it. Tech support seems fine...I called the company once and they were very helpful on the phone. So if you need to copy a lot of stuff from books and documents, it can save you a load of time.

Want WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner Discount?

I rate this product 2-star because it wasn't easy to use. The shape was not correctly designed to scan text easily. The scanner was not as accurate as I would have expected. On the box, it claims that it is 97% accurate but I found that it was actually not that accurate. It has poor letter sensitivity. It also took a long time to read the text and process the text onto the screen. I expected it to work like a highliter but it wasn't true. I think that the price is exaggerated when you take all the reasons I listed. I think that this pen needs to have a few improvements to make it more accurate.

This gadget is not very easy to use. Since I used Quicktionary (which has similar handling) before, it was much easier for me. If you are new to it and try it only a few times, you won't be able to get the best results. Technique makes all the difference here. Ideally, you should try it for a few days, patiently following the instructions. Besides that, I had previous OCR experience, meaning that after many tries to recognize pages of text using Optical Character Recognition software, I was somewhat used to reviewing and correcting many errors in it, but still preferred to do it instead of typing (many people don't). So when I get a good amount of errors to be corrected later in my computer, after the transfer, I am somewhat resigned. Do not expect miracles (not yet). But I have to tell you I am really happy with this product. I read a lot and I always felt the need to have summaries or notes from what I read. But I don't like to write, make notes or highlight sentences on my books, and I am not patient enough to write a summary after I have read it. I tried to do recorded summaries on tape, but I didn't like it either. Eventually, this is the best solution. If I like a sentence, I copy it, even if I am lying down in my bed. After reading a few pages, I download the text to my computer and, sure, I have to make a lot of corrections, but I haven't missed the main points and haven't destroyed my book. It works for me. Cons: hard to access characters to make corrections and/or type, it keeps scanning while you make corrections in text, you can't change the scanning idiom in the middle of a text (although it still reasonably recognizes other languages than the initially selected).

NOTE: Fortunately Amazon has the following notice on this item: "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

Before buying this case for my Acer Iconia Tab W500 10.1 inch tablet, I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews--not just at Amazon--over a period of two weeks. In one of the reviews, a woman stated that she didn't like a case she bought because of the horrible odor but it would cost too much to return it to the supplier in Europe so she was stuck with it. I then made a mental note to be sure I didn't buy one from a foreign manufacturer.

But guess what! Amazon didn't give the location of the supplier in the details, and in my naivete as a new Amazon user, I assumed that I could return the case to Amazon in the unlikely event that it wasn't what I expected. I now have a case with a bad odor that costs $60-$100 to return to England! It's advertised as "premium" leather, so I wasn't concerned until I received it and found that it did have a strong, horrendous odor. I promptly placed it in my utility room in hopes the odor would dissipate. Because I was anxious to get a case to protect my tablet, I checked it every day to see if I could use it. Although I already had a bag to carry the tablet, keyboard, and accessories, I wanted more protection for the tablet while I was using it. After a week the odor seemed to have dissipated, and I gladly tried it on my tablet.

The case fit perfectly, allowing access to all the buttons, both cameras, USB ports, etc. The tablet even attaches to the keyboard without the need to remove the case, and the built-in stand is nice because the tablet is somewhat top heavy. The magnetic closure is great. The tablet seems to be well shielded in case I accidentally drop it. At first I only used the tablet occasionally. But later, when I used it for an hour or so at a time I could smell the odor while using the tablet and I could still smell it on my hands until I washed them--sometimes after washing them.

So much for "premium" leather.

P.S. I still haven't applied the protector film on the screen so I can't comment on it.

  • Projector Image Size 9"-100"

Bought this to watch Netflix on my ceiling at night. Very interesting product in that its very cool to see android on a little projector. However, the colors were extremely muted and made the tv watching slightly annoying. Also, I couldn't actually get Netflix app on this version of android so had to use my laptop as the source and just use the projector as a projector instead of a standalone solution. This created lots of wires hanging over my headboard. Just didn't capture the simplicity I was looking for and not worth the expense at this point.

I purchased this projector for business travel use. I like the idea that it was compact and was intrigued by the WiFi option. Out of the box it looked great, but unfortunately once I used it the image quality was not that great. Even though it was nice and small and perfect for travel, the lumens just weren't high enough to deliver a quality picture. As for the WiFi, it's a good idea, but with so many other Internet options it's probably technology that is wasted on this device.

My school uses these things and we spend 10-20 minutes before and after each class trying to swap our drives out. The keys are all shot, even for brand new enclosures, after only a few days. Here is what we are forced to do -we take the double-handful of keys that are available and try them one at a time, until our thumbs and forefingers are raw, and eventually, sometimes after the third time through the entire pile of keys, one will work. It feels so good when the pain stops, it's like winning the frigging lottery!!

My school uses this docks on all of their computers so i decided to install it on my desktop. The form factor fits perfect in 5.25" slot and it only requires SATA power cable and SATA HD connection to motherboard. I did not use screws to keep the dock in place because my case has rails system. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to boot their HD in different computers. The docking port comes with HD case, do not buy one separately.

I use these at the Campus and here at home and they work great. I use them at home for the kids. Everyone has their own HDD and if they mess something up it doesn't effect the rest of the family. The price of the units and cases was more then worth the time and aggravation of having to re-install the OS or fix any problems. Now I just re-image the HDD for whoever messed theirs up. We do the same thing at the campus, if one gets messed up, just re-image it.

Sony PEG-N760C Clie Handheld

Sony PEG-N760C Clie Handheld
  • High-resolution reflective color display includes front lights for excellent visibility indoors and outdoors
  • Built-in MP3 audio player; includes stylish headphones and remote control
  • 16 MB total memory: 8 MB internal memory, plus 8 MB Memory Stick
  • Jog Dial navigator allows you to access phone numbers, notes, and more while keeping your other hand free
  • Compatible with thousands of Palm OS programs
  • Built-in MP3 audio player; Bright, 16-bit color display

Sony initially entered PDA market with a somewhat weak PALM unit in the Clie PEG-S300. With little fanfare and poor design, it was destined to fail up against PALM and HANDSPRING. Many thought that was the last we would hear of the Clie. Only a few months later, not only did Sony introduce two new models, but they took the PDA market by storm. Although the Clie line is still relatively unknown to many people, among PDA aficionados the Clie line has arguably surpassed HANDSPRING and even PALM as the number one palm unit in the market. Its combination of innovative initiative, sleek design, affordable prices, multimedia capability, enhanced screens and battery source that has really made SONY the new driving force in the PDA market where PALM once was. Considering that SONY is a baby in the PDA market this is an amazing feat.

After much contemplation and research I decided that the Clie N760C was my next PDA. Owning a Vx for about a year and a half, my next PDA certainly had big shoes to fill. Now that I've had my N760c for about 2 months, those high expectations were not only met but in some areas exceeded. I will break down this review into three criteria's, which I feel are critical in reviewing the N760C.

The first criterion has to be the SCREEN. Both fans and critics of this unit will agree that the screen is its crowning glory. It's an accepted fact that to date it has the best screen of all Palm OS units and even Pocket PC units. Its high resolution of 320X320 is a far cry from all of Palms and Handsprings 160X160 resolution. Text look so much better in hi-res particularly Avantgo. Also its 16bit screen (65,546 colors) displays a far better range of colors then the m505 and the Prism. Even at the lowest brightness level, the visual output is comparable to the m505. Viewing pictures is quite amazing. It's really like looking at a (sony) flat screen TV. The screen is bright enough that it is really adequate at one third setting. (equivalent to m505 with backlight on) Keeping it at this setting conserves the battery considerably. The only grip I have about the screen is that it seems to be softer then most silkscreen displays. Although it doesn't bother me now, the screen is noticeably softer then the Vx's. It is also a known fact that Clie's, had the ability to get dust on the inside of the screen. Fortunately Sony addressed this problem with the N760C model. They plugged up the holes and the screen is sealed well. I also suggest that before you buy one, check the screen for dead pixels. These are pixels that don't display any color, just white. Although it's rare, it occasionally happens.

The second criterion is FORM FACTOR. It has a sleek case with a combination of brushed silver aluminum, metal and plastic. It quite a looker. It has a jog dial, which is standard on all Sony electronics. The integration of the jog dial to the operating system and applications is really a huge plus. With the combination of the jog dial and back button, only does it eliminate wear and tear on the screen, you can virtually navigate through applications with one hand. Although this unit is longer and thicker than the famous V/m500 shape, it is noticeably narrower. Strangely enough, because it is narrower then the V/m500's, it actually feels smaller in your hand. One thing about this unit that might bother a few people are the buttons. They simply weren't made for game play, particularly the rocker buttons. If you're a serious Galax or Pacman fan, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Another criteria is the MEMORY STICK. There is a huge debate on which medium is best, Secure Digital or Memory Stick. I'm not even going to attempt to convince you one way or another. With the recent price drop of memory sticks, 128mb memory sticks are almost half the cost of Secure Digital cards. I'm sure SD price drops will follow. The only I/O devices available between memory sticks and SD cards are the memory stick cameras and GPRS devices. Although there are rumors that SD devices are on the way, its still pretty much wait and see.

Lastly there is the built in MP3 player. To my surprise it is quite amazing. It was a little trick to figure out how to transfer MP3's at first, but once you got the hang of it, it's as simple as drag and drop. In terms of audio output, maximum volume is loud while not losing clarity. After all "It's a SONY". It is certainly comparable to dedicated MP3 players in sound quality.

I would certainly recommend the N760c to both old and new users of PDA's. The N760C is really a class in its own in that it bridges the best of both worlds with PALM and Pocket PC's. For those who want color and multimedia capabilities of PocketPC's but the hassle-free, intuitive aspect of PALM with its endless database of practically free applications, then the N760C is really the only PDA to chose from. The only downside about Clie's is its anemic choices of accessories. (unlike PALM accessories) But with 5 new brands and 2 upgrades in less then a year, Sony has made its mark as a serious player in the PDA industry. Accessories will surely follow.

The last thing I recommend is read a lot of reviews before you go out and buy your PDA. There is really no one ultimate PDA. From the m100 all the way to the PEG-T615, they certainly have their strengths and weaknesses. Other then the criteria's which I mentioned, there are many others to consider like power consumption, durability, customer support, upgradeable OS, application compatibility and many more. The only way to find out all those things is to read as many reviews as possible.

Good Luck!

+ The basics of PalmOS is all there with some nifty Sony add-on programs that show images, video, and of course the MP3 audio files. There's a software interface that essentially allows your memory stick to act as your extended memory drive. The easy movement of files from cpu to Clie is either through an install app or simply drag-drop once your computer sees your Clie as an external drive.

+ The foremost knock-dead product quality is the crisp and clear and bright screen. You need to see it to believe it. I dump portfolio images to display to clients, friends, and show off. The upper casing is metal (aluminum probably), the lower a painted plastic. The Sony side scroll-dial has a new companion a separate back button below it that acts beautifully on AvantGo; learned browser manipulation actually is capitalized on mobile products!

+ The MP3 audio player (included) is two pieces the remote control and then a plug in headphones. The remote has a nib that allows Clie input without fumbling for a stylus. Personally the earphones are a real pain though. The two wires are almost completely separated creating a wire management mess; the slip around ear lobe design is just too annoying with tension and constant pressure placed on a part of the body that shouldn't be used as a latching zone. Dump them for something more ergo.

(-) This all leads to the negative issues. Sony support for their software is ridiculous. It says XP compatible but it is NOT. It installs incomplete with no `Intellisync' limiting me to using the Sony calendar and no sync to Outlook. After 5-6 attempts at complete uninstall and install there's no more sync capabilities whatsoever; rendering my XP machine non-communicado with Clie. No response from Sony other than the automation. However, the software works flawlessly on my other 2, Win2000OS cpus.

(+/-) I also purchased the unit for the accessories. I'm excited about the camera, regardless of the resolution. The modem seems silly with the accessibility and mobility of today's computers; and I'm waiting on a stupid microphone to be designed and manufactured...will anybody listen to the consumer? The negative here is that I'm still waiting on my camera unit. A lost opportunity is the lack of decent cases. I've got fours cases the original has a flip top that is minimal screen protection. The 2 leather ones make you stick a Velcro on the unit yuck, no way! So, I'm using the old Clie wrap-around nylon padded case because it keeps the unit safe and snug.

Overall, 4 solid stars for the great product and the ability to expand. The software issue still remains Sony's downfall; the lack of accessories is temporal; but the constant failure to provide adequate and appropriately designed cases to help you holster your treasure will is a constant afterthought for many hardware companies. Unfortunately, this sad software issue has sealed the deal as my last Sony computer/PDA purchase ever the hardware design is advanced but the software is not.

I bought my Clie about two months ago and I must admit, all the hype and hoopla over the PDA was somewhat deserved. The clie really is a handy little gadget. I recommend it to everyone who lacks organization and even those who just want to stay organized. It has all the functions of a Palm plus an MP3 Player, PG Pocket and PhotoStand, which allows you to store and share photographs in virtual color, and just when you think you have it all, the Clie also comes with digital capabilities that allow you to download and watch movies in color right on your PDA screen. How wonderful!! Right. Now for the not so wonderful part. Even though the Clie is a remarkable handheld, it's not God. It does have its imperfections. For one, the Clie has this added protection feature that prevents you from beaming mostly all of the software that comes with the handheld. Add-on applications can be beamed though. Second, when the Clie freezes (sometimes this can happen suddenly and for unexplained reasons), there is literally nothing you can do to reboot the handheld. If you reset, you have to erase everything on the handheld completely and any new information you've stored since your last hotsync is permanantly lost. Even if the amount of data lost will be insignificant, this can still be a frustrating inconvience if you're away from you computer and can't immediately perform a hotsync to restore your data, in which case I hope your memmory is relaible because that will be your only source of recall. Overall, the Clie is not a bad buy. It's not perfect, but then again what is? The Clie is an organizer, a walkman, and a portible video player all rolled up into a fun, colorful, compact solution. I give it four stars.

Want Sony PEG-N760C Clie Handheld Discount?

I purchased a Sony Clie PEGN710C in the summer of 2001. I was extremely impressed with the screen resolution and the mp3 player. This handheld has by far one the sleekest designs for PDA's. More recently, I was dismayed at the fact that my model was NOT compatible with my new Windows xp computer. This newer model (PEGN760C) is compatible. Additionally, it has better screen resolution and improved software.

Things to consider when purchasing this Clie.

1. You can buy the older model (PEGN710C) and have it upgraded by Sony -this essentially "turns the older model into the newer one," so says a Sony Techie.

2. My Clie PEG710C has collected dust under the screen, as another reviewer has noted. This is quite annoying and unfortunate since the picture quality is so stunning. As of Feb. 17, 2002, I called Sony about this problem and they are sending me a box to mail the Clie back to them. They will then fix it free of charge (after much arguing over the merits of my warranty through an Ebay purchase). We'll see how this ordeal goes. This newer model improves on the problem (supposedly).

3. Note about mp3 player: You can only play songs encoded at 128 kilobytes/second. This means that if you're stealing a song off of bearshare, for instance, you may get it at 160 or 192kbs; once you play this song off the memory stick on your Clie, the device may very well crash (but not burn, pheewww). This is a bit of an annoyance, but you can always reencode a song at 128kbs and solve the problem.

Besides those issues, I do highly recommend this device over other PDA's. You will be the envy on the subway or at work--Beware of pickpocketers!

I love it. the mp3 is great, hot sync set-up took about three minutes to master, and the add-on software is nice and FUNCTIONAL. No calling sony, or anybody to walk me through hours of hassles and compatibility issues. In shortA BREEZE. The only thing that I hate about Clie-760 is the headphones. They blow. It's like sony didn't even test them, but just said "yeah whatever, they look cool". Another complaint besides the headphones is the availability of a cullular modem. The only sony PDA with a modem "adapter" is the Clie 320 which is horrible without a color display (you'll need a flashlight to read it)... Lastly, Sony should hermetically seal the display area, nothing is worse than staring at your new Clie to see dust particles that you can never remove underneath the touch pad. Seal the deal.
