Char-Broil 2185562 65-Inch Artisan Coastal Blue Cover
After 3 months of use of constant outdoor use, here are my cons:
1. The side facing the sun has started to fade. The blue is starting to look weathered. The grey portion is still in good shape. (Note, there is no loss of weather protection, just the color)
2. As you see in the picture, the cover extends all the way down to the wheels. This is not the case with my grill. It extends about 2" short of the bottom flat portion of my grill. This for me isn't an issue, but it does allow water to get on the bottom portion of my grill where my propane tank sits.
3. During wind, the grill cover will lift itself up and undress the grill. I haven't quite figured out an elegant way of strapping down the grill cover to prevent this. Wish they would have added some weight to the trailing ends to keep the cover down during wind.
Overall, for the price I paid, I am not too worried about these cons. I do wish the color would have held better, but next time I'll buy a single color cover. It does the job and it is made for this brand of grills.
Would I buy this grill cover again? Probably not. I'd research different material types to meet my needs; that of a 24/7 grill cover during Spring, Summer and Fall. The Char-Broil 65-Inch Artisan Grill Cover provides the protection you need to keep your grill in good condition. Five years ago, we purchased one of these for the warehouse store stainless steel grill. The grill is the house-brand and measures approximately 24" wide X 54" long X 44" high. This cover is sufficiently roomy and covers all but about the lower 4 inches of the base and pedestal which face toward the center of the covered porch. We do have the cover pulled down closer to the floor at the rear of the grill; that side is more exposed to the elements.
Even though our grill is protected by the roof on our back porch, south Texas' weather can rapidly cause damage to grills which have not been kept covered. By the same token, the heat and sun can also cause the materials from which grill covers are constructed to deteriorate. After five years, the old cover's seams were coming apart, and it was time to purchase another Char-Broil 65-Inch Artisan Grill Cover. I was very pleased to find this grill cover was still available. However, like so many other products, the weight of the fabric is not what it once was. It is definitely better than a vinyl cover which can be easily torn, but I do not expect it will last five years. Additionally, the stitching did not seem to be as tight as it formerly had been. For these reasons, I rated this item as a four-star purchase.
We purchased our first Char-Broil 65-Inch Artisan Grill Cover from our local Lowes and paid close to $40 for it. The current price on Amazon was a real bargain. If you need a good quality grill cover and do not want to spend a small fortune, I recommend you take a look at the Char-Broil 65-Inch Artisan Grill Cover.
APRIL 2012 UPDATE: The Char-Broil Grill Cover easily fits Weber's Genesis Grill series and is about 1/3 the cost of a Weber grill cover.

I got a new BBQ and I wanted to make sure it didn't get ugly quick like my old one, so I got this cover to keep it nice. It fits my BBQ without issue and keeps rain & dirt from getting through, but it is more cumbersome to get it unfolded and over the BBQ then i would have liked and the color doesn't really match the pic.It was cheap and does the job though, so a positive review.

iConcepts Universal PDA Starter Kit
- Everything you need to get you stared with your new PDA
- Pack of 6 screen protectors
- Leather carrying case
- Universal 4-in-1 stylus
- Compatible with most PDA's
The 4-1 stylus sucks. It is hard to get out what you want. It is hit or miss on twisting the clicker and pusing in. I usually get the black pen. It takes many tries to get the stylus point or the pencil.
The kit includes 10 protector sheets all for different PDA models. Some are pretty similar, so you might be able to get 6 for your PDA. But not likely.
There is nothing I like about this Kit.

This kit comes with a multi function pen , a few screen protectors and a case.Whats good
The case is good fit for my tungsten E.
Has a holder for the stylus that comes with the kit.
Whats not
The multifunction pen
The paint starts peeling off in a few days.
Also the pen rattles while writing.
Screen protectors are already cut to various PDA screen sizes. Hence I will not be able to use most of them.
Overall
The case is good

Premium Reusable LCD Screen Protectors 12 Pack for Apple iPod Touch iTouch 8GB 16GB 32GB 2nd Generat
- lear, ultra thin and durable. Custom designed to fit your iPod Touch
- Shield and protect your LCD screen from unwanted scratches.
- Quickly and easily adhere directly to your screen.
- Non-adhesive backing, will not leave sticky residue.
This screen is very easy to apply. The first time I tried, it already looked pretty good, but my OCD made me take it off and try it again to align it perfectly. And so after two tries and about ten minutes (most of which was actually spent cleaning the ipod screen), I had a nice clear screen protector on my ipod! You can barely tell that it's there at all. Most of my friends with touches have to ask me if I have a protector on because they can't see it. This also doesn't leave any residue when you take it off.
Some cons are that it doesn't feel as smooth as the actual touch screen, and that it scratches about once or twice a month. But that's why you get 12 of them! And it's still infinitely better than that scratch being on the real screen. And the smoothness issue goes away after a day or two of use. Another thing is that fingerprints get left on it very easily, but you can pretty easily get rid of them by wiping it off with your shirt.
The cleaning cloth that's included isn't very good. I would suggest using regular eyeglass cleaners or just the t-shirt you're wearing.Premium Reusable LCD Screen Protectors 12 Pack for Apple iPod Touch 1Touch 8GB 16GB 32GB 2nd Generation
Very pleased with this product which arrived quickly. These protectors were so easy to apply and it will be a long time before I use all 12 of them. Each one comes individually wrapped with a small cleaning paper included.
Although it specifies that these items are for the 2nd Generation iPod Touch, I have a 4th Generation and they are quite satisfactory after I use a hole puncher to accommodate the Facetime camera lens. I am sure they can be used in all generations of iPOD Touches.
Why pay more for protective screens when these are so inexpensive and certainly serve the purpose so well?First off this product received two stars despite the fact that there are 12 of these. For someone who uses their ipod touch everyday and always has their hands on it, the material will be a negative. The fact that the seller used premium in the title of the product is far fetched. After touching it for a while, me and my girlfriend both noticed that the the screen would become slick from fingerprints and we constantly have to wipe off the screen. I never experienced this with any other screen protector I ever had so when I seen that the price for 12 of these were so cheap I thought what could go wrong as long as they fit. But you learn from experience, next time I decide to purchase screen protectors I will ignore the price and read reviews. The shipping was faster than Amazon predicted though.Good quantity at a good price; however, you get what you pay for. They're hard to put on, and they bubble a lot right in the middle when you're done putting it on. Not terrible, but there's DEFINITELY room for improvement.

Acer Predator AG3620-UR308 Gaming Desktop (Black)
- 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 processor 3.4GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology up to 3.9GHz (8MB Total Cache)
- 12GB DDR3
- 2 TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
- NVIDIA GeForce GT630 with 2GB Discrete Video Memory
- Windows 8
UPDATE: I have now also tried Max Payne 3, Batman: Arkham City, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Microsoft Flight, MX vs. ATV Reflex, Portal 1 & 2, Serious Sam BFE and HD version of 1st & 2nd Encounter, Sleeping Dogs, The Sims 3, TrackMania Nations Forever, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Diablo 3, Titan Quest, and a few others I am sure I'm forgetting. All these games have run great with the factory nVidia GT 630. Some games you will have to turn down from 1080p to a lower but still HD resolution to get a decent frame rate, but I have mostly been able to leave texture, shadows, etc. on high or in some cases very high/ultra. If I get a job I am expecting, I will probably upgrade to a GTX card anyways, I'll let everyone know if it makes the noticeable difference I expect...
I see a lot of people nail pretty good computers if they have "gaming" in their product title but don't have a top of the line video card, even when they are priced as low as this one. Especially at the $800 sale price, this is a very good computer and will play most of the titles you also see on PS3 and XBOX 360 on high or above settings and 720p or above resolution. It is irrefutable that this is NOT a high-end graphics card, but it is enough to play most games on higher settings. I have tested Saints Row 2&3, Metro 2033, Red Faction Armageddon, STALKER, Minecraft, Duke Nukem Forever, and will continue to test over 20 games. I'll update if I have problems with any of them... I also wanted to note that on my 24" monitors I couldn't see any noticeable difference going from a 720p resolution to 1080p. Also, while I'm sure diehard gamers that know what they're looking for could tell the difference between high and ultra settings, I didn't really notice anything. So, if you're a casual gamer like me, I would recommend 720p and high settings for games even if they will run higher, this will keep the GPU temperature down and help the card last longer if you're not planning to upgrade it anyways. If you're a knowledgeable gamer and think these pre-built systems are junk, then build your own and quit bashing low-budget pre-built systems because they don't meet the technical standards of a customized high cost gaming system. I almost didn't buy this because of these "gamer" reviews, and I'm glad I blew them off. So far, I'm very happy with how this computer handles my games, especially since it cost $800 not $1,200, $1,600, $2,000 or more that some of the dual video card, water-cooled systems can cost.

my first impression is, i'm not a fan of windows 8that aside, i've uploaded a stock photo of the computer's inside, as it depicts the exact condition mine came in.
i immediately noticed the chassis is a pretty standard size, i was expecting a huge "gaming computer" and also the exterior isn't obnoxious in any way. another highlight is the 500w power supply is slightly higher than what some competitors are offering. the noticeable downside is it comes with an average graphics card. you'll notice the motherboard offers only 1 pci express slot sized x16 and 3 other pci express slots sized x1. there shouldn't be a problem upgrading to even a bulkier graphics card in the future, simply replace the current one and move the wifi to a slot farther down. also, the 12gb ram uses 3 of 4 memory slots so there is room to expand.
i'll say this system is a pretty good starter for gamers who are maybe considering a few upgrades down the road, the type of consumer who doesn't feel like building an entire system from scratch, but getting reasonable performance for a decent price

Despite having laptops and tablets, I find that I really do use a desktop most of the time. I was trying to decide between this Acer Predator and an HP Phoenix. The biggest difference between the two to me was the power supply. Although the 500 watt power supply for this machine is higher than some other brands, it is below the 600 watt and heat sink that the Phoenix offered. The deciding factor for me was watching a video showing the interior of the HP Phoenix. The heat sink took up so much room that I knew that trying to replaced anything would be a nightmare for me. Compared to most of the desktops that I have had, the interior of this Acer Predator seems positively roomy. The picture that another reviewer posted shows it very clearly. I find the exterior size to be comparable to most of the desktops that I have had in the past.
What I also liked was the number of USB ports as well as the accessibility. I was adamant about wanting the third generation Intel I-7 processor and 12GB of RAM and thought this Predator offered the best value.
It comes with a cheap wired mouse and lightweight keyboard but I would advise upgrading the mouse to one designed for Windows 8 since using the tiles with a traditional mouse is really a pain.
I was a bit disappointed to see that there is no separate S/PDIF audio outlet but there is a convenient headphones outlet on top as well as the traditional speaker outlet on the back.
This is the first Acer product that I have owned and though I haven't had it very long, I am pleased with my purchase.

We bought this as a Christmas present in 2012. On February 3 it completely lost power and shut down. We tested the power supply and it was ok so I am going to assume the motherboard is bad. The machine itself is very nice and works well for gaming. I am just very dissapointed that after using it a little over a month it is dead. I am waiting to hear from Acer hopefully today to see what they say. You also have to pay the shipping to get the machine to them which was well over 50.00.From other reviews I know this is not a normal thing, but before windows even loaded I was having issues with this computer. First time starting it up I went through the installation process and when it got to the last step to load everything it got stuck on "creating your account" for 45 minutes! After letting it sit for 40 minutes I called tech support, and right as they told me it must be frozen and to hold the power button down, it finished loading and she said to call back if I had more concerns. Later on the computer crashed and forced a shut down on itself when I pushed "ALT CTRL DEL." Afterward, programs would randomly freeze up and while they wouldn't work everything else would be fine. For 20 minutes or so I would simply use task manager to shut these off and restart the program, but eventually the computer crashed again and a shut down was forced. Later in the day I was downloading a game and it froze at 10% downloaded. I called tech support for the second time after having my computer for 5 hours and they requested I power down my computer with the power button located on the tower. After this I unplugged all the cables, replugged them, and restarted my computer. I was told to call back if another incident occurred. I went back to downloading the game and it resumed at 48%. I assumed it had been downloading even though the icon for the download was frozen and went along to finish the dll. After it was completed, 10% through the installation process an error occurred, saying there was missing files and that the ENTIRE game must be downloaded again (it was a 2hr download). All in all, I've been suffering from serious lag, freezing processes, computer crashes, and unreliable information concerning the download.
Also, I'd like to mention that the driver for a LAN cable (Ethernet cable for internet) driver does not come with the computer and must be downloaded or transferred from another computer in order to plug in the internet.
I wish I could give a 5 star review and again, I doubt you will have all of these problems. But after all the trouble this computer has given me and considering it's still only day one.. I had to write a review to raise awareness of the possibilities.

Cisco Aironet 1140 Series AIR-AP1142N-x-K9 802.11a/g/n 2x3:2 MIMO Standalone Wireless Access Point A
- Part Number: AIR-AP1142N-x-K9 (Dual-band Standalone 802.11a/g/n AP)
- Does *NOT* Include Power Supply; Requires either Power Injector (AIR-PWRINJ4=), Local Power Supply (AIR-PWR-B=), or 802.3af Ethernet Switch (requires 16+ W)
- 802.11n Capabilities: 2x3 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) with two spatial streams (2x3:2)
- Mounting: Includes easy-to-install, multipurpose mounting bracket; UL 2043 plenum rated for above ceiling installation options or suspended from drop ceilings; Locks for theft protection
That being said, it is possible to use the standalone version via command line configuration, or built in web server. Just don't expect the configuration to be easy or simple.
I had an application for multiple SSIDs, with each SSID being on it's own VLAN. The Cisco Aironet did the trick nicely. Add in the dual radio, as well as MIMO and you have the ability to hit 300Mbps through the device (MCS 15).
A final quick note it is possible, and supported by Cisco to upgrade / cross grade from a standalone device to a lightweight access point device that can be connected to an Aironet controller. This is well documented on the Cisco Connect website, which means this is a great startup investment, and as your company grows, you can purchase the controller down the line.
Happy Networking !

It appears that Cisco do not provide firmware updates for these devices without a support contract. People buying as end-users should beware that they will forever be stuck on whatever firmware revision they have unless they are prepared to pay exorbitant cisco maintenance contract prices. The version of devices I bought a year ago were IOS 12.4, and there is now IOS 15.2 available for these units....
Cheers !Rock solid performance and it means I can cover the whole house with one AP. Speed is amazing for a wireless connection.Would have given this 5 stars but the price tag.
USE the channel scan feature 5-10 times to find a clear channel and this thing delivers the goods. We are covering 7000 sq. ft. with partition walls, no drops, great throughput, etc in an office building where you can pick up 20+ SSIDs easily.
Works fine with generic POE adapter as it meets the a/f standard. It has been running for months, no issues, not even a power reset.I set a few of these up in standalone mode via the IOS console. We're using an HP switch with PoE to power them. This was my first IOS device to configure, and I found the process straightforward. I also like that these can switch to a managed mode for use with Cisco wireless controllers if we need better wireless client management and hand-off.
We've had some issues with Android devices maintaining a connection, but I'm pretty confident it's related to the configuration we're using. No power cord came with the unit!
Seems cisco sells them separate!
Of course the access port will only work with their cord...
Such BS
Krusell Horizontic Plus with Multidapt? Leather Case - XS-Wide (95181)

- Internal dimensions mm/inches: 97mm x 47mm x 22mm / 3.82" x 1.85" x 0.87"

It is ironic that Krusell sells heavy duty steel belt holders and steel swivel pins because they attach to a Multidapt mounting bracket made of plastic less than 1/16" thick.
I loved this case and the other 2 before it. Unfortunately all 3 failed in the same way. If Krusell changed the bracket to metal, this would fix the problem and I would return as a customer.

There are a few cases rated for Nokia N-95. I checked three of them, one had no belt loop, second was too large but still hard to reach the phone fast. Third specifically advertised as for N95-3 phone was equipped with large magnetic flap, which having too strong magnetic field, was triggering screen to horizontal position, and interacting with phone in other weird ways. Paying about half of the grant for phone I refused to stop searching for the right home for my new amazing tool (toy?). Google somehow redirected me to Symbian users group and from one of the entry I learned about Krusell Horizontic 95181. The number is important. A few days later I had Krusell in my hands. The case has dual on belt carry system. One is a Multidapt with a large and strong belt clip. If person prefers to carry phone case on belt, close to the body (safer for the phone and its large screen in my opinion), it needs simply to skip installing clip and use two very elegant and well located belt loops, each finished with snap visible at the bottom of case. The loops can be used with belts up to two inches wide (I use 1-3/8"). Initially phone enters the case with some resistance. What I did, was before the first night I turned off the phone to avoid its complains that too many buttons are pressed at the same time and wrapped the phone with one piece of paper towel forcing the whole package gently into case. In the morning I had a looking very elegant and small, custom made case with phone perfectly fit, but never pressurized to accidentally activate any function. Small magnetic button (magnetic snap) works fine and never triggers phone magnetic switches. The open bottom allows for easy access. A quick push lifts phone up from case, while other fingers grab it from the top. If never tried before, this technique should be tried over the bed first few times, before being mastered.Wednesday, March 5, 2014

It may have had the information on it.This item worked perfectly with my husbands cell phone. We couldn't find this item for a couple of years. only negative point : back cover has lace mechanism which is little bit loose, in compare to original one.The product appeared bulky and thick in the liteature but it was not. It came charged and worked out of the package with no loading or fitting problems. It has been retaining the charge well and powering my pocket PC.What the item description does not tell you is due to the thickness of the battery and the new case-back, your PDA will need a different charger than that which comes with the PDA in box. Can't say if item is good or bad; other rave.
Mine, did not work from package, and, as I said, it made the PDA too thick for standard charger pretty much everyone I know uses. If I had a different charger, perhaps it would work. That I can not review.
Just know my point is that the battery's width means you need another charger.

Dell Axim X5 300 MHz Pocket PC
- 300 MHz InteláXScale Processor, 32 MB RAM, and 32 MB ROM
- Brilliant 3.5" high-resolution transflective 65,000 color display
- Integrated CompactFlash Type II and Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard slots to add storage or wireless communication cards
- Built-in microphone, speaker, and stereo headphone connector
- What's in the box: Axim X5, Stylus, Sync cradle, AC Adapter, 1440 mAh Lithium-Ion Removable Rechargeable battery
I purchased the AXIM X-5 300 on 11-26 with a ship date of 12-18. I received it on 12-9, a very pleasant surprise. The case is sturdy silver plastic with rubberized sides. I've had the AXIM in my hand for as long as 4 hours and, because of the size, shape and rubberized gripping surfaces, I have experienced no cramping or muscle tension. Very good human factors design in this instance. Most importantly, the unit feels secure in my hand with no sensation that it's slipping or that I'm about to drop it. With the screen setting as bright as it will go (and it is very, very bright and clear), I have used the AXIM for 16 total hours on it's original charge and have 40% of the battery remaining. This is not gaming, but does include about 1 hour of Media Player to watch video (excellent!). With the backup battery I have no fear of taking it until it shuts down. The stylus is OK, all metal except for the point, and better than those little round plastic styli. The Navigator button does not have an "enter" feature, but it does scroll appropriately. To see the real potential of the button it should be used in Excel. The speaker is limited, but there is a headphone jack (I have not used this yet). Otherwise, everything is sturdy and functional.
The synch software installed with no difficulty (HP laptop, P-III, w/XP) and I am very pleased with the Pocket PC interface and applications. It appears to be a very full-featured software package. At the entry-level price I have money left over to purchase some software I might really want (but it is such a good package, I have no clue what else I should buy. Look at your MS Office and Explorer and think "I can do all of this on a handheld").
This is my first venture into Pocket PC, and I made the appropriate choice with the AXIM X-5. I have the potential of my laptop and desktop in an extremely portable package. Don't worry about the size and weight of the AXIM; to me it is a non-issue. I cannot fairly compare the AXIM to other Pocket PC's, but it is almost exactly the same size as my Palm III-XE. As for weight, it's light enough. All of the other Pocket PCs I've seen and hefted are too big and too heavy. All of them. Everyone wants a matchbook size computer that throws out an 11X14 holographic screen that we can navigate through telepathically, and that weighs only 4 grams. Even at that size and weight people would carp that it's too big and heavy to be an earring. The AXIM is as light as a feather compared to any laptop. On a budget, it is outstanding. If budget were no limit, I say get a Winnebago to carry your servers, satellite uplinks, wet bar, and Jacuzzi.

First, if you don't have a PDA or not familiar with them, learn about them. You will be amazed how easy they are to use and with only a few options, the convenience they provide will save you a tremendous amount of time. They are becoming as natural and common us as the cell phone. If you know nothing about computers, this system is so easy you will feel smart!Knowing the Dell's Axim X5 400 MHz is available, I didn't think that the 300 MHz was worth buying knowing that a more advanced version was already available. However, conversations with engineers more knowledgeable than I reminded me that I am buying a PDA not a server and that 300MHz is all the processor I would need. Also, the DELL AXIM X5 was one of three models that was always recommended. After doing my own research I had to agree. I purchased the Dell X5 300 MHz and buyers remorse set in. I thought I wasn't going to get as much use out it that I originally thought. I was wrong. Now, before I go anywhere, I pick up my PDA before my cell phone and keys.
Using the Dell provided software, installing activesync was very easy and the set up was effortless with my Microsoft Outlook. Dell and Microsoft made this install so easy I thought I did it wrong! I have the PDA synced to my Sony laptop and my Dell desktops. Remember, to disable your firewall protection before using the activesync. After the system has sync and you have exchanged files, enable you firewall. McAfee will disconnect your sync.
After just one week using my PDA, I bought a second PDA (same DELL 300 MHz) for my wife knowing we can share the accessories I bought. I packaged an extra battery, stylus, and screen protectors as well as additional memory, the wireless phone and camera. My only disappointment is the protective cases that I bought. I have both the leather and the hard case, neither have a belt option. I had to make a belt clip from a few cell phone parts. Hopefully Dell will offer a case that can be worn and has room for a money clip. I strongly recommend you take the time to learn about the PDA world. PDAs will replace your cell phone and provide a tremendous amount of assistance to you.

I've had my Axim for a few months now and I still love it. No troubles at all except when I enable WEP on my wireless card; I have to restart after inserting the card to recognize the network. I suspect this is related ot my no-name wireless card and not Dell's fault.Only disadvantages are the size (it is much larger than other handhelds). I knew this going into it and I find the size comfortable to hold, though it doesn't fit into all of my pockets. The other disadvantage is the Dell support. I haven't had to deal with them since I know a bit about computers, however I ordered my PDA from Dell and was going away in 2 weeks. Their estemated delivery time was one week so I thought I was good. Turns out their site doesn't update daily and the unit was on back order. I had to argue with supervisors for 4 days before I finally got someone who got the situation resolved. All the others would say they will make sure it will ship today, then they 'forget' about it.
As long as you order from Amazon that shouoldn't be an issue. The fact is that only 25% of the service reps at Dell speak english without a THICK accent, and only 25% of those people really care about their job enough to go out of their way to help customers.
What it comes down to is I love the PDA, but hate Dell and can't recomend this product to anyone who can't troubleshoot software issues with the device.
P.S. Dell shipping and handling is a KILLER! If you are planning on buying accesories make sure Amazon or another retailer has what you need or you will end up paying $7 shipping on screen protectors that weigh nearly nothing.

I purchased my 300 MHz Axim X5 from Dell in mid December and it arrived about 2 weeks later. This is my very first pocket PC, although I did have a Palm V about 2 years ago. This thing just amazes me. The screen is nice and bright... the style is very comfortable to hold (rubber sides). My choices for pocket PCs were the Toshiba e740, the HP IPAQ 1910, and the Dell Axim X5 mainly because they were all under $... after rebates. The 300 MHz Axim is by far the cheapest and the best value since it has dual expansion slots (SD and CF). I am currently using a Netgear CF Wireless adaper card to surf the internet anywhere in my home.
Bottom line... the Axim is the best PDA for the best price. I love mine!I highly recomend these handheld, i had a iPAQ before which I bought, these device is one third of the price and has everithing built in with out the hassle of carring a lot of ad-ons. But among all the reasons i can find to recomend this device is the promt support and extended warranty of 3 years from Dell wich I have experienced for many years now.
I bought it from dell on-line store.

I've had my Palm V since June 1st. To my brother, wife & parents who conspired for my birthday: THANK YOU!!!!! Within two weeks I abandoned my Franklin Planner, and regretted not having had a Palm device 15 years ago. OK, that was impossible but it has dramatically changed my life for the better, and I can't imagine ever going without it. In the last several months I have grown to be a very definite power user, and the corporate resource person for Palm-platform PDA's. Our guys have tried several others and are convinced that the Palm platform is the best and most flexible. I am very heavily into 3rd-party software evaluation (& some accessories), preparing recommendations for high-efficiency Palm device/software packages for company-staff issue. Eventually I may put together my own personal web-site, and post some evaluations and recommendations for software/accessories for Palm users.Having said all that, here's an engineer's (my)perspective on the Palm V: Visors will be great, and Palm IIIx's are just fine, but the Palm V package size is definitely worth a lot to me. Forget the sexy appearance it's great, but the superior Form Factor rules. Yes, I would prefer that the Vx cost is about what the standard V discounts for now, but since it will ALWAYS fit in my shirt pocket (without changing my shirt wardrobe) I ALWAYS have it with me (in a place that's probably least susceptible to being damaged or lost) and that's what it's for. Though I prefer to use the slim padded 3COM case, I frequently slip the original leather flap-cover on for small shirt pockets, & thus can still carry a separate pen/pencil/stylus device. A big plus with those covers that I've never seen in a review: the soft "grabby" texture of the rubber-like spine flex keeps the Palm from sliding, even if you do toe-touches. Ta-dah... it doesn't fall out on the floor!!!! (Very big benefit since the cover isn't a padded case.)
Likes: I like being able to keep synced with both my office laptop and my home desktop (with the included MS Outlook Conduit)... autocharging in the docking cradle... a battery that's never gotten below a half-charge... nice screen... the size. I really like the unit overall a truly great device.
Any problems? Yep. I did have to get the updated e-mail patch from the Chapura site to avoid some lock-ups when synching e-mail. Also, I highly recommend TealScript (the custom-tailorable graffitti add-on) for it's ability to help you tune up your handwriting speed/recognition and it visually showed up a mysterious problem with the screen occasionally screwing up handwriting by adding a horizontal line: 3-COM quickly replaced it under warranty, and it's been fine.
Memory space? The average user probably will have no problem for a couple of years I've met people with III's that are using less than 1k... a year after they get it: they've seen & use very few aftermarket programs. However, I've got more programs in there than will fit: launcher, datebook, calc & memo replacements, travel programs, doc reader, picture viewer, several clocks, a dozen utility and security programs, over a dozen Hackmaster hacks, and a few games. Since FlashPro gave me the extra 800k memory room (awesome), I found I probably had enough that I could otherwise get by fine without deleting rarely-used fluff programs except that I use it heavily for work & software evaluation. The memory room of the Vx would be heaven the perfect device, I think. It'd be handy to carry a lot of maps, but my current standard P5 doesn't have the memory room without deleting, say, my picture viewer. (Oh, the screen? It's great! Yes folks, it IS a 16 greyscale display!) Probably I'll upgrade to the Vx & give my wife my standard V (P5) unit: she thought it was no big deal when I got it, but has fallen in love with the capabilities and wants her own Palm device. Bottom line is that if you're a minimalist, the 2k of P5 memory is fine. But if you like to carry a Gerber/Leatherman/Swiss-Army device (like I do) because a pocketknife leaves you unprepared... better get a Vx or get the 8mb upgrade on your P5.
Price? When Handspring comes out with something to compete with a Vx, the price world will probably be great. Yeh, P5's are expensive compared to some of the lesser PDA's but compare the price to a palmtop computer, and they look like a great deal... especially considering the impact on your lifestyle.
Can I mention my essential add-on programs list? Tough area, but currently I wouldn't give up these listed in order of descending requirement: UnDupe (get it!), TealScript, Travel Clock, Hackmaster, (SwitchHack, StayOffHack, PalmV hack, Invert Hack & Invert, FindHack, CatHack), DateBK3 (& dbScan), BackupBuddy, IDPalm, FlashPro, a good launcher either Commander or LaunchEm have too many great enhancements to do without. Must-have accessories: WriteRight screen covers, Throttle Stylus/pen. I regard the PalmV hack and StayOff hack as absolute essentials for Palm V users, and Invert with InvertHack give proper screen display when the backlight's on. In-depth info? O'Reilly's "Palmpilot: The Ultimate Guide" is a fantastic reference for ALL Palm owners.

January 15, 2000 3Com's Palm PDA's are definitely the best PDA's on the market. You can read the other reviews to hear how this device will help you organize your life and how wonderful it is. As a Palm collector (I have all Palm and Pilot models), I will rather compare the Palm V to the Palm Vx. The only difference between the two is that the V has 2MB of RAM, while the Vx has 8.I have thousands of addresses, thousands of appointments, and many more to-do items, documents, etc. in my Palm. I also have fax, e-mail, and internet software installed, among many other programs. I only use about 1.5 MB. Therefore, although I have the Vx, I don't use any of the additional memory. Technically, because of the additional memory, the Vx is faster. Nonetheless, because Palm applications are so small, this difference is truly negligible. Therefore, before you spend $100 more on the Vx, make sure you're going to use the additional memory. It's the only difference.
Now, remember: the V series is rechargable, while the III series uses AAA batteries. Therefore, travelling with a V palm means you'll have to carry around the cradle. If you'd rather use batteries, maybe the IIIx is better for you.
Good luck!I spent about 2 months trying to decide whether an organizer could be worth this much money. I just bought my Palm V last week, and it's hard to imagine life without it now. The Palm V is simply the best purchase I've made in a long time. It's an incredibly small and sleek little machine. It fits right in your shirt pocket, even with the hard case I bought for it. It has all the standard things you'd expect from an organizer (address book, to do list, agenda, expense report). The Graffiti system (writing instead of typing) only takes a little while to get used to. The Palm Desktop software and cradle allows you to back everything up in a few seconds. No batteries are necessary, because you can recharge the Palm Vin the cradle. Hundreds of extra programs and games can be downloaded. If you're trying to decide which Palm to buy, I definitely recommend the V. The Vx is about the same, but it has more memory (which I don't think I'll need) and costs a lot more, the III series is great but not as sleek, and the VII has the built-in modem, which doesn't interest me much. Go for the Palm V. If you're trying to decide whether it's worth the money, the answer is a resounding YES!
