SanDisk SDDR-97-A15 MS / MS Pro Reader

SanDisk SDDR-97-A15 MS / MS Pro Reader
  • Hi-Speed USB 2.0 certified for fastest data transfer
  • Backwards compatible with all USB 1.1 ports
  • Easy to install and use; true plug and play -- no driver needed
  • Saves batteries; let an ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer transfer your files
  • Windows XP and Mac OS 10.2 logo compliant

When I got my Sony Cyber-Shot, inside the box was a SONY catalog with a Memory Stick reader for $59, I found these one at amazon for less than $20, and I'm very happy with it because is a real Plug and Play product, doesn't need any driver, works with my USB 2.0 and read MS & MS Pro as many other kinds of memory chips, I't very compact, light and lot better looking that the white Sony reader, so get it arms wide open.

Buy SanDisk SDDR-97-A15 MS / MS Pro Reader Now

Purchased the Sony Card Reader because it looked more portable. Went home and found out that I had to install drivers just to read my memory stick. I don't want to install anything when I'm using several computers, especially when I'm using the office computers. I had read somewhere that the SanDisk doesn't require installing drivers. Took the Sony back to Circuit City, paid $19.86, and got the SanDisk. The SanDisk was only $13.50 and it works like a charm. The cord is made with sturdier material. It is a bit larger than the Sony but it still fits in my notebook case with ease. I'm loving it!

I was cheated! The item sent was for a sony stick reader, not the reader shown in the photo. The company DID NOT replace the item or even apologize for their error!

Would I buy again? Maybe, but not the protection I had hoped for, nor the ease to fit in the cable. Good, not great by any means. Under $10 fine, over $10 hesitate.

Acer Aspire V5-171-6471 11.6-Inch Laptop (Silky Silver)

Acer Aspire V5-171-6471 11.6-Inch Laptop
  • Intel Core i5-3337U 1.8GHz with Turboboost Technology up to 2.7GHz
  • 6 GB DDR3 RAM
  • 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
  • 11.6-Inch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • Windows 8, 5-hour battery life

I really adore this mobile computer. I am a mobile person and the size is perfect for every day commuting and long-distance travel; it has a small footprint and can fit on any surface be it an airplane seat tray or a lap. The computer does not have a disc drive (which I think is a plus), freeing it to be made very thin; it is not Macbook Air thin, but still very thin. One of my favorite features is the touchpad. It recognizes Apple like gestures and is free from the casing, so that it can physically move up and down when pressed. This gives it a very responsive feel akin to the Apple touchpad. The keyboard has keys separated by the case molding. It is not a full size keyboard, but I find the Chiclet-like keys helps prevent pressing more than one key at a time when typing; it also looks very cool.

I like a fast computer and this Acer has a lot horsepower for its price range since it has an Intel Core i5, instead of a Core i3. This means it comes with Intel's Turbo Boost technology. I believe the Turbo Boost makes a big difference in a laptop where power consumption is directly related to battery life. Most of the time a lot of horsepower isn't needed, e.g. web surfing, so battery power is saved. But when you need to open or run a demanding program like MATLAB (you'll see I love MATLAB) then Turbo Boost really shines and everything will run faster.

I took this computer to another level by upgrading to a solid-state hard drive and highly recommend this. The SSD makes boot up incredibly fast. (Note about installing Windows via USB: Format a USB (>4GB) with FAT32. Then extract a Windows Installation ISO to the USB using 7-zip. Super simple :)(Note 2: or use Clonezilla to clone the Windows that ships with the drive onto the new one.). With this setup the computer is very snappy. The computer boots in about 5 seconds. MATLAB opens on my laptop faster than my desktops!

I did not want to spend more than $800 on a new laptop. This laptop perfectly fits my computing needs and wants without breaking the budget. I think it is as cool as a computer can be without being a Macbook, which this computer clearly used as an inspiration. I don't believe in spending top-of-the-line money for laptops, because the dollar goes further in a desktop and laptops don't have as much longevity due to wear and tear (I'm pretty rough on laptops. They get banged around in my backpack when I bike around or travel). However, being unwilling to spend enough can result in an impotent laptop: more than a Chromebook (which are awesome in their own way, but specialized), yet not quite powerful enough for doing more than surf the web, write docs, and make slides; having a computer powerful enough to run MATLAB (or a similarly demanding program like Photoshop) was important to me. The Aspire V5-171 has met my needs and surpassed my expectations. It represents a fantastic value: it combines computing power and great aesthetics into a very convenient and mobile form factor.

The only caveat I can think of is this is not a "gamer's" laptop. However, it has the best integrated graphics chip Intel offers and will play a lot of modern games on the lowest visual settings at decent frame rates.

Finally, there are a few miscellaneous features that further prove how this laptop is the complete package. In addition to an HDMI port, there is also a VGA port. I think it is great to have both, because there is now the flexibility of giving a presentation on an HD screen or an older projector without needing to tote around extra adapters. There is also a USB 3.0 port to help future proof this machine. Another nice unheralded feature is the power cord, which does not have a "Ghostbusters brick". Instead it has the adapter plug directly into the wall; this seems to have reduced the size of the power cord and represents to me less of a trip hazard. My only wish is that the power cord would connect to the laptop using a magnet ala Apple (the ultimate in trip prevention), but I don't mind so much because this laptop comes in at such a nice price.

I would give this laptop a Four except that its battery life is quite poor. After adjusting the power settings for minimum power, I have trouble getting more than three hours from it. Acer should have give it a larger battery. Acer doesn't have a larger battery available for after market either.

Like the machine, hate the battery!

I just got mine yesterday. It was delivered with an out of date wifi driver and I could not connect wirelessly. I went to the Acer site and found many people were reporting the same problem. I downloaded and installed a new driver from the Acer site, but still do not have wifi connectivity on my brand new machine. Needless to say, I'm sending it back!

Want Acer Aspire V5-171-6471 11.6-Inch Laptop (Silky Silver) Discount?

Lack of backlit keyboard precipitated its return. Any laptop over $100 should have a properly backlit keyboard.

Nice machine, nice price, capable. But not capable enough. For something so small, the touchsreen of the S7 is a big plus. So is the lighted keyboard of the S7. We kept the s7 and returned the V5.

One thing better about the V5 is its better array of ports: VGA, RJ45, full-size HDMI, 2 USB 2.0 and 1 3.0.

Please listen, Acer: form must not preempt function, and pricepoint is irrelevant when it destroys usability.

Tropics Design Protective Skin Decal Sticker for Palm Pixi (Sprint) Cell Phone

  • Covers the front and back surfaces of your Palm Pixi cell phone.
  • Removable and won't harm your device!
  • Thin enough to retain compatibility with most cases and accessories.
  • Great way to personalized your Palm Pixi!

I bought this to protect my phone and I couldn't resist the tropical scene. It was surprisingly easy to put on and has held up well. I will probably still buy a clear snap on case to go over it, but I'm very happy with my purchase. The download screen saver was very easy and really made my phone so much fun to look at. Don't hesitate to buy it if you like tropical islands like I do. Enjoy! Sheila

HP iPAQ hx2795 Pocket PC (FA676B#ABA)

HP iPAQ hx2795 Pocket PC
  • Compact pocket PC lets you surf the web, view Microsoft Office documents, and download images
  • Built-in, serial-infrared fingerprint reader provides convenient security for all your documents and data
  • Features a backlit, 3.5 inch, LCD screen, with power-save mode; user available memory of up to 256 MB
  • Dimensions: 3.01 x 4.71 x 0.65 inches (WxHxD); weighs 5.8 ounces
  • PC comes with a one-year limited warranty and access to HP's renowned 24 hour customer service

(Originally intended title was "It makes the iPod look like a complete waste of $$$...harsh but true")

I have been using my Ipaq hx2795b for a couple of months now, and at first it did have frequent freeze-ups and battery draining issues, especially when using the SD card. But once I updated the BIOS (ROM) to the latest version (you can find it at hp's website), everything works smoothly ever since. Also remember to use the latest version of ActiveSync (4.2 so far), and not the one that comes with the installation CD, and try to use the sync with MS Office Outlook 2003 instead of Office 2002 on your PC/laptop. For the above inconveniences, I'm taking one star off the rating. I believe that's about it, and you're all set to start installing tons of software on your Ipaq.

I use it literally for EVERYTHING (well, phone and camera excluded) -that is, agenda, customer database, ebooks, reference books, review powerpoint presentations, wi-fi, email, msn messenger, bluetooth, watch videos (you can watch entire DVD movies on it, after encoding of course), music (in my opinion it sounds even better than the iPod, was it the earphones?), games, anyway, you name it. I find the Windows Mobile 5 OS quite stable, and the interface feels pretty much the same as using the ordinary desktop Windows. The speed is impressive too. Battery life is good and it charges fast. The display is bright and clear, though I would have preferred a slightly larger screen. The fingerprint reader device is cool. I personally don't use it though, because it delays the otherwise instant power-on of the handheld, but it stands as a great security feature for sure.

Some recommended accessories to enhance your Ipaq are: SD card (i'm already using 70% of its 2GB storage capacity, so I'll soon be looking for an additional CF card; I think it's less cumbersome to have both cards simultaneously in the handheld than to have to switch cards using the same slot), an extra sync/charger/car adapter (I have the BELKIN Ipaq Sync Charger F8Q0003HP), a leather carrying case, and of course, screen adhesive overlays. Some useful or must-have software are: Adobe Reader for PPC, iSilo, Resco explorer, Resco photo viewer, Resco audio recorder, Resco radio, Clearvue presentation, spb Pocket Plus, Trancreative Magic Button, Touch Notes, Pocket informant, TCPMP the core pocket media player (it plays every format that the Windows Media Player doesn't, which are a bunch).

Overall, I'm very happy with my Ipaq hx2795b. For those thinking to own a handheld for the first time but have put off till now (like myself), this is the right moment to do it. The technology in handhelds, both hardware and software-wise, has reached to a level of reliable stability, that makes it worthy enough to try on one of these literally do-it-all gadgets.

Buy HP iPAQ hx2795 Pocket PC (FA676B#ABA) Now

At first I was having many problems wouldn't sync, loss of or wouldn't connect to a WIFI signal, and the battery seemed to get rundown VERY fast. I found myself having to do soft resets on the device almost daily. I tried to use HP's website to update the BIOS, but after 3 days of trying the ones listed, which gave me "wrong model" errors, I called HP and discovered the right one for the hx2795b was not listed out there! So they gave me the exact ftp link to the update: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33003.exe Paste this into your browser on your PC and then run it. Once I completed the update, the device has been working great!!

My only other "con" is that the Manual leaves much to be desired. This device is more of a "figure-it-out-as-you-go" device, which may prove frustrating for some.

I've owned this pocket pc for a week now with very little problems. I don't know anything about an upgrade but so far I haven't had any major problems with it. When I left it in the car and then came home it wouldn't turn on. I noticed it was very warm but as soon as I did a soft reset the device turned on. The soft reset doesn't make you lose all your data. I just had to reset the date. I've had to do this a couple of times so far.

I did purchase a 2 gig sd card and have lots of room. I recommend that you shop around for the 2 gig memory card however because I bought mine from amazon and then I found it cheaper at best buy.

I am really happy with this product. I love the way it looks. It's easy to figure out and I'm not really savvy with electronic gadgets. I did sign up for hotmail so I could use the msn features. It was easy to sync my music to the device and the download is done automatically with the sync. The music sounds great with a great pair of headphones. I use the calendar which helps to remind of events and appointments. Also use the task button which reminds of stuff that needs to be done. Great for the highly stressed out who tend to forget things. There is also a feature to write a note in your own handwriting and then the device turns it into typewritten words. Really neat!

I use the recording device to record my class lecture and it's a little hard to hear but there is a lot of noise in the classroom and I sit in the back and the teacher is up at the front. But the important thing is that I could understand what was being said so i could transcribe it. As a nursing student I was able to purchase and download nursing programs from a website with no problems and they run great.

I just can't believe all the features that come with this pocket pc. I have no regrets making this purchase. I look forward to reading more reviews on this product and learning everything it can do. So far it's been fun.

I enjoy my new iPAQ very much. I have been a Palm user since PDA's first hit the market but wanted to try something new, using the Windows CE format. Being that the iPAQ usses the Windows format similar to my laptop and desktop computers, it was very easy to use from the get go. It is much easier to access your POP e-mail account and very easy to set-up. I had numerous problems attempting to do this with my Palm and still am unable to access my e-mail account. The icons are very similar to Windows and allow for easy accessing to programs. I like having access to my MS Office programs and the ability to edit.

On the downside, I do enjoy the grafity feature that Palm uses with their PDA's. You have to tap the keyboard to enter all data on the iPAQ. Another downer is the battery life. It drains pretty quickly, especially if you are browsing the web or checking your e-mail. I wish that their were more themes so you can change the look of your iPAQ. The internal memory is rather small and you will need to purchase a memory card if you plan to store pictures, video, music or other larger programs. I found that you will need at least a 2gig card at minimum.

Otherwise, it is a great product, fun to use and adds a new dimension for me in handheld computing.

Was having a lot of hangs and soft resets and using the IPAQ was becomming very frustrating. I updated the ROM, as suggested by HP Tech. Support and now it is working fine.

Satechi Cyclone Micro 2+ 1080p Portable Media (MKV, AVI, MOV) Player Adapter with SD/SDHC Memory, US

Satechi Cyclone Micro 2+ 1080p Portable Media Player Adapter with SD/SDHC Memory, USB Slot and Remote ControlI am very pleased with this little toy after only two days. It does everything I expected it to and does it well. The 1080p upscaling is more than acceptable. The GUI is a little kludgy but it's okay once you figure it out. Keep file names as short as possible to make it easier on yourself. I've successfully used a USB flash drive as well as a 16gb SD card (like you'd use in a digital camera) with no problems at all, although the SD card slot doesn't have a spring load in it... it just kinda slides in and sits there.

The only reason that I gave it 4 stars is that the tiny remote button labels are printed in a fairly dark blue on black and is VERY hard to read unless you are in full light. I'm also less than enthused that it doesn't handle a few very common video containers like MKV, MP4 and MOV. I knew that up front though so it wasn't a surprise. I also see in the setup that you can see what version of the software is installed but the sparse manual and website make absolutely no reference to updating it or if it's even possible. One other minor nag: Subtitles are defaulted to "ON". No biggie... just a push of a button on the remote but still an annoyance. I've also recently noticed that file management does not work correctly. For example, if you delete a file it does indeed disappear from the on-screen list but it does not rebuild the file directory. I deleted several 2gb+ files and when I took the flash drive back to my computer they were gone, but the space they occupied was not available and I had to reformat the drive to reclaim that space.

All in all, as long as you are aware of the shortcomings and they really won't affect your needs, then buy it! It's great so far! I will update my review after 6 months or so.

UPDATE Dec. 27: Didn't take 6 months after all! I am returning this box and dropping my rating from 4 to 3 stars. It still performs great for short usage but it overheats after an hour or so. In turn, it overheats the USB flash drive and then it locks up. The only way around that is to unplug it and give it time to cool down. I did have some success using a short USB extension cable to get the drive away from the box but that is one too many bandaids for me personally. I decided I want to upgrade a bit more and get something that also plays MKV's, MOV's and MP4's so I'm trying out the Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002USAIYS/ref=oss_product

This is a great product for the purpose I wanted. I have a SUV with a built-in DVD system, however most of the movies that I have are in digital format including MKV, MPG and AVI. I had initially though of getting a dvd player and then converting the videos to MPG2 and creating DVDs with it, but that would have been cumbersome and also suffered from loss of quality. Also since I have composite video pins in the SUV just having HDMI output was not an option. At all these level this product fits properly. I have attached a 1 GB external HD powered buy this units USB. I can play all of these videos directly to the car video and the kids have about 60 movies to choose from. I also was able to take this out on vacation and then attached this to the hotels TV thru DVD and watched HD quality movies in the room. Also I found out that it will play all the HD MKV both 1080 and 720 p also thru the composite video. All in all a great product.

Some quirks and nuances: The product natively has been set for PAL. Most HDTVs will see it and you have to change it to be NTSC while connected to the TV, however you have to do this every time you connect it to the HDTV thru HDMI. If you do not connect it thru HDMI, last selection of NTSC will stay. So if I take it out of the car, I change it after using it on the HDMI connected TV.

Remote certainly is very small and not very intuitive, I had a spare learning remote which learned the most basic buttons and I use this. I could not find the digit code for this unit. Since the unit is not functional without a remote guard the remote.

Overall an excellent entertainment product that is priced very right.

Great little media player.

Priced right.

Works great.

Small limitations:

Need remote,

Hard to read remote,

Need good line of sight for remote.

Great set-up options available,

4x3, 16x9, 1080i, 1080p,720,..etc.

Picture options.

It up-reses too, out HDMI

HDMI out,no HDMI cable supplied with, also composite and L/R, with supplied cable.

Remote has volume control.

One Amazon review said it got hot after an hour, must have been a defective one, because mine stays cool.

If this keeps working well for a couple of years, I'll be way pleased.

I already am way, way, pleased.

It functionality is better than the media player on my daughters 40 Samsung LCD.

30$ shipped, can't beat it.

Review re-visited:

Still works great.

I use it often.

Don't lose that remote!

A great product if you are tired of having dvds everywhere. I have converted most of my dvds to smaller avi or mp4 and now store them on a small external drive. Xtek® Wireless Bluetooth ABS Keyboard Stand Case Cover For Google ASUS NEXUS 7 Tablet

Xtek® Wireless Bluetooth ABS Keyboard Stand Case Cover For Google ASUS NEXUS 7 Tablet
  • Compatible Model: Google Nexus 7" Inch Android Tablet (tablet not included)
  • Feature 1, As a keyboard: Rechargeable, wireless, bluetooth keyboard is sleek, professional, easy to use, and easy to carry. Charging time: 4-5 hours, Standby time: 60 days, Uninterrupted working time: 55 hours.
  • Feature 2, As a stand: Versatile design allows you to prop up your tablet into comfortable typing and viewing position.
  • Feature 3, As a case: Sturdy, compact, lightweight case made with classy aluminum color finish, and rubberized backing for improved non-slip grip to protect your newest gadget from accidental bumps and drops.
  • Made of ABS plastic material with a high-grade Aluminum color finish

For the iPad, the Logitech Ultrathin is an ideal keyboard/case combo. For Windows 8, the Type Cover is excellent. I've been wanting something similar for my Nexus 7, and the various leather case set-ups like IVSO Keyboard didn't work out for me, due to too much added bulk.

Now a slew of identical bluetooth keyboard cases are out. Vostrostone, MiniSuit , Xtek, and Koolertron. I opted for the Vostrostone because Amazon could ship it immediately.

Some key points:

1. From the backs, the major difference between this case and the Nexus is the name on the back of the Nexus -the pattern, finish, feel, and size are identical.

2. The main connection is by aluminum clips instead of magnets. The case can be slightly fiddly to open up.

3. One of the clips that sticks up is centered right in front of the spacebar.

4. On/Off switch, charges with mini USB cable (not included). A charge will last for weeks.

5. No Tab key. Huge Q key. Has Alt, Ctrl, Home, Cursor keys,

6. The Nexus sits in a slot and is held by leverage, and can be in either landscape or portrait position.

7. It's reasonable to type on -if you can type on a Nexus screen, this is an improvement.

8. In the closed position, this fits into a pants pocket easily.

9. Keys are fairly solid. A bit too small for touch-typing, but fine for 2-finger typing.

I would have preferred more magnets instead of clips. For a closed case, this is pretty much ideal for portability and feel. Decent keyboard. Some improvements are possible, but for now, this looks like the best option for a Nexus 7 keyboard case.

There are not many products that fill this niche exactly, so I bought it despite some of the poor ratings.

It's cheap, so buy the cheapest one (if you feel you must try it for yourself)

it's the same re-branded product sold under a few different names anyways.

The specs on the box and the little info packet list it as a 160Ma battery. Battery capacity is usually listed as mAh (milliamp hours). It says it has a work time of 55 hours which means the battery capacity is probably more like 1600mAh.

It does NOT come with a charging cable (which is just a mirco usb )I suppose they figure you can just use your Nexus 7's cable.

It has some kind of rolling code for pairing, not a fixed code which is rather annoying too.

The on/off power switch is really cheapo and very small, you'll need to use your fingernail to switch it on and off I won't be surprised if that breaks.

Actually the keyboard keys feel rather cheap as well.

Some companies even dare to list this keyboard as Aluminum. I don't know how they get away with that.

It's plastic painted silver.

The missing TAB button is strange and rather annoying.

I knew this from the other reviews.

But until you have this keyboard and want to use the TAB key

(and you will believe me you will!),

You'll still buy this thing thinking you can deal without it.

Read the other product reviews first and strongly consider this unusually large Q key before you think you

can deal without TAB.

Oh, I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but it can be paired with other bluetooth devices, ie PS3, Iphone (but not everything)...and even so, it doesn't work well, especially without a frickin tab key!

I read another review that stated the screen will shut off if you place the nexus 7 in the keyboard holder slot horizontally with the power/volume button side up (the way it should be).

It's true! What a POS! You have to put it in with the power/volume keys face down. So since it's barely useful for typing, it also barely useful as just a stand.

It's not easy to type on. Actually, I'm finding it more and more useless each time I use it. I can definitely type faster on the tablet or my phone than I can with this thing. Actually, I'm gonna do a test to see if I can type faster/better with a PS3 controller than with this (I bet I can, with less typos).

I've already taken 2 stars of my review since I've started typing this.

S***, I just realized I can't even tell if this thing is powered on or if it's connected because the useless little lights don't stay on and I can barely tell what position the power switch is in without holding in 4 inches from my face @!@ grrr.

rooCASE Neoprene Netbook Sleeve Case Cover for HP Mini 110-3530NR 10.1-Inch Netbook BlackI purchased this case for my HP netbook a couple months ago. It is very good quality and has protected my HP very well. It isn't bulky, so it slips nicely into a bag, purse, or briefcase. I recommend it to anyone with a netbook.

It protect my net book like a pro and has extra pockets for the cord and whatever else. It is small and it feels like a wetsuit. It does its job well!

For what I paid for it, I really like this case. I bought it for my Asus 1015-PX, actually, and while it does not fit completely snug, it's adequate for my computer. One thing to keep in mind is that it's just a sleeve, so it's not the most protective case in the world. But if you're just looking for some basic protection at a low price, not a bad case to go with!

Its a sleeve, works just fine. Zipper seems to stick a little bit but all in all, it does what its supposed to, protects the computer! Holds USB sticks and a mouse along with a power cord for the computer without being too overstuffed, but the zipper is hesitant to close with all that inside.

Targus Dual Charger for Apple iPad, iPad 2, new iPad, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB WiFi + 4G, iPhone and iPod APA15US
  • USB wall charger that works with the iPad, iPhone, iPod and other devices that also charge via USB
  • Includes one USB to 30-pin cable; features two USB connectors so two USB chargeable devices can be charged at the same time
  • Small, lightweight and convenient; LED indicator light shows when the device receives power; integrated AC plug; included cable can be used to sync iPad, iPhone or iPod with computer

This is a very nice little charger. It's nice (and rare!) to find one that can handle two high-demand devices (e.g., iPad). NOTE: This device will not charge the newest round of Crapberrys (e.g., Blackberry 9930). RIM instituted a new charger protocol where the device will charge only from a proprietary RIM charger or a computer's USB port. They do this to force people to buy their charger when they lose the orginal.

I like this dual charger a lot, it charges both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 simultaneously without an obnoxiously bright LED indicator. The prongs fold down for better portability. I've only been using it for a month, but it feels well built so hopefully it'll last a good while. 5 stars because it does what it claims to do.

Update 9/19/12:

Used daily for 8 months and no problems so far.

I ordered this a few weeks ago to be able to charge my iPad 2 and another device (cell phone) at the same time at home and on trips. This charger works perfectly and charges very fast. It comes with just a single cord for Apple devices, so you'll need another USB charging cable for your second device. I like that it is only slightly larger than the stock iPad charger and the plugs fold down for easy storage in luggage. A great product!

Great for travel, this charger works perfectly. I have iPhone 5 and iPad retina...they both charge without a problem overninght.

Works as described, you can charge your iPhone and iPad at the same time. Both plugs are 2.1 amps, at the same time, so charging is quick.

Only thing I wish is that it were smaller. It's not that bulky, but definitely a lot bigger than a regular charger. Maybe the next generation will be smaller.

I fits the Treo stylus slot good, it has a flexible pointer so it will not scrape the screen and the pen is easily accessed when needed. How do I refill it is my next check, but so far so good.

New-ReadingPenTS - WRPTS
  • Includes: ReadingPen TS
  • Protective carry case
  • USB cable. Earphones
  • CD containing PC software

We got this pen and are absolutely amazed at what it can do. Our daughter was so excited that she was going to be able to read now without the help of others, now she just needs the pen for the words she doesn't know. The only down fall would be that it does take some practice learning to scroll it across the words. Our daughter has some fine motor issues which makes it more difficult for her to get the pen to read the words correctly as she needs to learn to scroll across slow and steady.

OtterBox Drybox 3150 Waterproof Case

OtterBox WaterProof Universal Casei bought a smaller otterbox after losing a phone to the lake. I fell in love with that one and got this one then as well. They are awesome rugged boxes to store personal belongings on the beach, fishing, etc. I had to test this also :). i put a piece of paper in it and put it in the lake next to me. I pushed it under water and held it there. The paper was dry as a bone. I even tested the durability. I love it! I recommend this product. Any questions please ask i am always looking for advice so i enjoy giving it when i can as well.

This is a good waterproof box for like campers and hikers but there are some downsides:

1.it's hard to unlatch

2.not very big

3.difficult to put something in it

So if your looking for a waterproof box you should probably get the otterbox 3500

I thought this was going to be bigger than what it was. It couldn't even fit my Nikon 5100... That's my fault but I kept the box anyways because it is well built and might be of some use for something else. OtterBox items are typically amazing products. Unfortunately this was just too small for what I originally planned on using it for.

Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620

Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620
  • Processor Type: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Desktop Processor G620
  • Frequency: 2.6 GHz
  • Cache: 3 MB
  • Process: 32 nm
  • Socket: Socket 1155

I bought this CPU to make a low-power, inexpensive media PC for my bedroom to replace the Comcast DVRs I returned. I am not at all disappointed.

So far, I cannot tell the difference in picture quality or performance against the more expensive i3-2100 CPU that's in my main living room HTPC. It's definitely better than the AMD Phenom II x3 705e / HD5670 HTPC system I used to have. Like it's i3-2100 cousin, there is far less color banding, panning is better and the picture is overall just better. That AMD CPU and graphics card were over $200 at the beginning of 2010!

With this CPU, I am able to watch HD video, HD TV and everything else I need to do with my media PC without issue. It runs super-cool and the included fan and heatsink are not audible from across the bedroom. While watching HD video and TV it uses between 40W-50W. It idles under 30W. My old HTPC used 180W-200W and idled around 95W.

I continue to be amazed by the performance, power usage and features you get and this price point for an Intel CPU.

The build:

Intel Pentium G620 CPU

ASUS P8H61-I mini-itx motherboard

Rosewill RS-MI-01 BK mini-ITX case with 120W picoPSU replacing the stock PSU

Kingston V100 64GB SSD

Western Digital 320GB Caviar Blue HDD

Happauge WinTV 1250 tuner card

Rosewill USB wireless-N

Logitech K400 wireless keyboard

120mm Antec Tri-Cool case fan

Custom PSU backplate cover with mount for picoPSU jack

BTW: the title of this product page is incorrect. This is an LGA 1155 CPU, not LGA 1156.

Buy Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620 Now

Very impressive performance for such a bargain CPU. I paired it with a Geforce GTX 260 I had out of an older rig and it makes for a fantastic HTPC. I can even play Half Life 2 and World of Warcraft at high settings on my 55" Sony at 1080p, now that was an unexpected bonus.

For real world applications this will handle anything in a productivity suite. With 4gb ram I have been able to have around 6 browser tabs open, Itunes and anything from MS Office 2010 going at the same time with no halts. Adobe CS5 also runs great too.

The only con I can think of is that it doesn't have hyper threading and has a locked multiplier, but this isn't a performance/gaming cpu and that is what I expected. What I didn't expect is to get as much performance as this has for the price. I can't comment on the built in Intel graphics, because I use a discrete GPU, but anyone that has used integrated graphics knows about that, although things are beginning to change.

The price and performance of this processor are simply amazing, it is definitely up to productivity multitasking, HD/Blu-Ray playback, and moderate gaming.

Here is a short comparison with the exact same graphics card and similar components of my old rig based off a Core 2 Duo E6600 overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3.1ghz.

Pentium G620 2.6ghz vs Core 2 Duo E6600@3.1ghz on 3D Mark Vantage (preset = performance)

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8P67-M PRO -EVGA NFORCE 680i LT SLI

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

Processor clock: 2600 MHz -3100 MHz

Memory: 4096 MB Kingston 9 @ 667 MHz -4096 MB Corsair 7 @ 400 MHz

3DMark Vantage Score: 8186.34 -8205.65

CPU Score: 6192.24 -5151.86

Graphics Score: 9170.77 -10226.2

Operating system 64-bit Windows 7

No tweaking or changes were made to any components of the hardware I've used aside from the obviously stated OC on the E6600. I find it very interesting how the cpu score can differ so much and yet the higher scoring cpu, gets a lower overall score. I hope this gives an idea of the ability/ limitation of the Pentium G620 and the contrast of older and newer hardware. Although in different classes, my goal was to show how budget today is on par of more expensive performance of 4 years ago.

Read Best Reviews of Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620 Here

I bought a G620 as an essentially disposable placeholder until Ivy Bridge arrives. It's being used with a Biostar z68 motherboard, 2x4GB of GSkill DDR3 2133 memory, and two Crucial SSDs in RAID0.

The current price on Amazon is about as good as it gets. Auction sites advertise the G620 for eight dollars less, but that's for the OEM version that doesn't come with a three year warranty or a stock heatsink/fan. And "no," you don't have to throw the stock cooler away.

I realize that some reviewers just can't live with a CPU cooler that isn't large enough and complex enough to double as the warp coil on the Starship Enterprise. Regardless, the boxed Intel cooler is both quiet and efficient. Temps are around 95 degrees F (35 C) at idle and never exceed 128 F (53 C) at full tilt. Full speed on the stock fan is just under 2,000 RPM, but the Biostar motherboard chooses to run the fan at roughly 1,250 RPM at idle and 1,500 RPM at 100% utilization.

The low temperatures and slow fan speeds are directly attributable to the energy efficiency of the G620. My UPS measures the amount of power drawn from the wall socket. As best as I can judge, the G620 draws 15 watts at idle and 40 watts at 100%. The 65 watt spec is unrealistically pessimistic.

Intel's specs state that the G620 is limited to running memory at DDR3 1066. However, the Biostar motherboard has the GSkill memory running at DDR3 1600 without any input from me. It's unlikely that this actually translates into a significant performance increase, but it was a pleasant surprise.

The G620's CPU multiplier of 26 is locked upwards but unlocked downwards. The Biostar motherboard automatically reduces the multiplier to 16 at low utilization. This contributes to the low idle temperature. Attempting to work around the lock by increasing motherboard clock speed results in some interesting behavior. The CPU is rock solid up to and including 104 MHz (2.7 GHz), but it will not run at all at 105 MHz.

There may be a couple of other features available that Intel intended to lock out. First, Intel's specs state that VT-d is disabled on the G620, but the Biostar's BIOS reports that VT-d is available. This is of no current benefit because no virtualization software supports VT-d as of yet. So, I don't really know whether VT-d is actually available or if the Biostar's BIOS is just mistaken.

Second, DVD Fab reports that Intel Quick Sync is available (and preselected by default) as the H.264 codec. This is unexpected since the G620 is only supposed to have Intel HD1000 graphics. Again, I haven't experimented to confirm whether Quick Sync is really available.

Update 3/30/2012: I'm still satisfied with this purchase. The 620 really is a lot of bang for the buck. However, two issues have surfaced in the last nine months.

First, the Intel boxed fan/cooler is becoming too noisy for me, even with the RPMs dialed down in my motherboard's BIOS. My best guess is that the bearings are wearing out already. I'm still glad that Intel included what is basically a free cooler in the box, because that has allowed me to spread out the cost of building a new computer. I'll buy a good third-party cooler now and just throw the Intel cooler away. It has done its job.

Second, I became dissatisfied with the built in Sandy Bridge graphics. My best guess is that the hardware is OK, but the driver is a long way from being mature. This is unfortunate since I don't play games and don't need a powerful third-party graphics card. It worked OK on Win7 but would never install properly on the MS Dreamworks edition of Server 2008 R2. It also failed to make the best of what Media Player Classic + Lav filters + Reclock + MadVR offers. I ended up buying an nVidia GT440 card for cheap. nVidia updates its drivers regularly while Intel makes only one update per six months, if even that.

Want Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620 Discount?

I chose this for a recent HTPC build over a Sandy Bridge i5 after reading a few reviews (including these on Amazon) described it as more than capable of handling 1080p video.

I'm glad I made that choice. It's effortlessly handled just about every piece of video I've thrown at it so far (except that one clip from Planet Earth with the thousands of birds over a lake...), and it does an equally admirable job on Windows 7, XBMC (Alaska MQ skin) and my GameEx emulators. My TV doesn't do 3D, so I haven't tested it there, but the reviews I've read made it clear that it doesn't handle 3D content. Keep that in mind.

Also keep in mind that the stock fan can get a bit noisy. It's not generally an issue for me, as it's the Alaska skin, rather than the movies, that taxes the CPU to that degree.

It's a solid choice if you're just getting into the HTPC scene.

edit: For reference, my full build also includes a ASRock H67 Mini-ITX Motherboard and a Corsair XMS3 4 GB RAM kit.
