Tripp Lite B130-101A VGA Over Cat5e Cat5 with Audio Extender, Up to 500ft

Tripp Lite B130-101A VGA Over Cat5e Cat5 with Audio Extender, Up to 500ft
  • Perfect for digital signage applications in retail locations, schools, churches and more
  • Extends a 1920 x 1440 (60Hz) Video and Stereo Audio signal up to 500 ft., or a 1024 x 768 (60Hz) Video and Stereo Audio signal up to 1,000 ft., when using 24Awg, Solid Wire Cat5e/6 cable
  • For optimal image quality between 500 and 1,000 ft., use Zero-Skew cable, such as Tripp Lite P524-01K
  • The remote (Receiver) unit features built-in Equalization and Gain controls to adjust the video image
  • 1 year limited warranty, TAA compliant

The product does what it advertises and does it pretty well. No special drivers. I installed this product in 4 conference rooms to 42" 1080p Monitors wall mounted across the room from the source computer. In each situation, running new VGA cables would have been very difficult and not practical. One room required a mirrored display on two monitors.

I used the existing Network wiring and connected the signal from the outlet closest to the computer to the outlet closest to the monitor using the patch panel in the Server Room, so in some cases I was sending the signal from one end of the building to the other in order to get across the room.

At a distance of 80 to 100 Cat5 cable feet, the picture was perfect. At 150 to 200 cable feet, the picture was near perfect with small adjustment to the Gain and EQ on the receiving unit.

No drivers are required, just adjust the video properties as you would with any computer monitor. Both the sending and receiving unit require an electrical outlet. I tested it with several laptops, even some older ones with limited video resolution. All worked.

One sending unit failed after a few days, and Tripp Lite's warranty replacement department exceeded my expectations. I've seen the same item with a different brand name, I imagine it would work the same, but I would go with Tripp Lite based on their excellent customer service.

I purchased this product to replace a 25' VGA cable that links my desktop monitor to my computer rack across the room. I'm using an IOGear MiniView Ultra+ 8-port KVM switch hooked up with (currently) 5 computers. The computers are a mix of laptops, desktop towers and server towers. My monitor is a Dell 2450fpw 24" widescreen monitor with a 1920x1200 native resolution. This setup has been in place for about three years, with no significant issues until I recently upgraded several of the laptops with new ones.

Turns out the new graphics cards (both Nvidia and ATI) do not put out a strong enough signal to allow my monitor to display its full resolution. I'm unable to get past about 1650x1080. This prompted my search for a better solution, and the TrippLite unit seemed to fit my requirements, as it advertises support for 1920x1200.

Setup:

Hooking it up was straightforward. I used a brand new 25' Cat6 cable and regular VGA cables to hook the local and remote units up to my monitor and KVM. The power supplies use nice screw-on connectors, which is a plus.

Result:

The laptop that was able to drive the monitor through the old VGA cable was also successful with the TrippLite unit after I tweaked the gain and EQ settings on the remote unit.

The newer laptops actually performed worse than before, topping out at 1280x1024.

Debugging the problem uncovered the fact that the TrippLite unit does not support the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) interface, which allows the graphics card to query the monitor to discover its optimum resolution. Considerable manual tweaking of settings did not provide a usable signal.

Conclusion:

The three stars I gave the unit reflect my feeling that, while in most cases this will be a fine unit, it just does not do what I purchased it to do based on the advertised specs.

If you want to use this unit to drive an external display such as an HD TV, you're going to love it. If you're looking for an integrated setup with a high definition computer monitor, you're going to be disappointed.

This unit is going back to Amazon.

We originally purchased the Atlona AT-VGA180ASR VGA over CAT5 w/Audio adapter to put a computer screen 50 feet away in our lab from the server closet. It failed immediately and was a jumble of cable. The Tripp Lite unit feels solid, works great, and has the option to have local video as well. Awesome unit. Strong signal.

Running 1080p from a kvm @ 120' local monitor 22" 1080p and remote is 32" TV 1080p

As others, little adjustment to the "EQ" and picture perfect.

Picture looks like it does on local monitor with or without this unit.

Running off FC15 console (linux), Windows 7 1280x1024 ( mostly desktop etc), windows 7

with a silicondust HD prime(networkable digital cablecard to get HBO etc in WMC) at 1080p

Windows XP running 1280x1024 for analog cable DVR. I use synergy(1.4.5 beta) to control the desktops

as I haven't ran a usb over ethernet yet for keyboard and mouse.

Thus far I am very impressed, no need for instructions, the unit is clearly labeled.

The power connector has a "screw" on connection, great for figuring out what that wallwart

goes to, as well, it wont slip out when it falls (dropped unit at least twice each side already)

haven't tried audio yet, when I do I will update to the sound quality.

12-02: Sound works well, I only have it to a small desktop, no crackles or anything.

Once I set it up, I haven't had to touch it. Only mono audio.

04-26: Has stopped working. Still works on less than 25 foot cable, anything further

than that and it won't show a picture after post.

06-01: 2nd device has now died and 1st wont go past 25 feet.

note to self, stay away from Tripp Lite $250 wasted. Part of my life wasted on trying to get it to work again.

I just installed these yesterday (11/5/11) at church.

Needed to project from computer about 45 ft from ceiling mounted projector. I used cat6.

**Before installing in an unreachable/difficult to reach area (ie attic) test on floor**

**There are GAIN and EQ adjustments that will most likely need tweaking on the remote unit**

After I got the Gain and EQ adjusted the picture is quite good, I was pleasantly impressed.

*Probably an issue on my end with cabling, but my Red colors were Blue and Blue colors were Red. I think it was just that my pin-out was mixed I switched it around and everything worked fine*

It was really difficult plugging the USB into this charger. I should have stopped, but was in a pinch and needed my iPad. When I tryed to remove the cord however, it wouldn't budge. As I worked it as gently as possible, the wires in the cord broke and now no longer works. Very disappointed and will be returning this (with my cord still in it). It did however, charge my iPad2.

I received it very quickly; that's about the only good thing about this product. It is not an authentic Apple charger. You can tell by the cheaper plastic and the pinch marks from when the product was pulled from the mold. It just has a lower level of quality than an Apple product would. They have clearly aimed to deceive the consumer with this product.

To top it all off--It doesn't work; Apple products actually work when they are plugged in.

When plugged in alone it is quiet, but when charging a product it "hisses". Now concerned about a fire hazard.

Only charges iPhone and iPod not iPad. Some kind of aftermarket charger that iPad doesn't accept. I wish I would of just bought one from the apple store.

M-Edge Supershell Cover for iPad 2 and the New iPad (Blue)

M-Edge Supershell Cover for iPad 2 and the New iPadI absolutely love ths case. I have four children 9 and under, and this case is perfect for protecting the iPad from damage. It is bigger than other cases, so someone without children may not prefer it, but even when I am using the iPad I love the way the case makes it easy to hold and you can prop it up any where and it won't slide down because of the shell's material. The is a great advantage when watching videos or when I need to prop it in the kitchen to read a recipe.

Another praise for the M-Edge: I have a special needs daughter and this case has protected the iPad from many a drop!

My son has dropped the ipad a couple of times and it hasn't shattered the glass or anything. It's a great investment.

My 6 year old granddaughter received her 1st iPad for Christmas. Being an iPad owner myself, I knew it would be a challenge for her, to hold onto. This case was even better than expected. It protects all 4 edges, and allows her to hold it, without losing her grip. She can also lean it against the wall, etc, while we FaceTime and it doesn't slip away. Her parents, who get to use it, after her bedtime, don't mind the case being there either. I'm considering one for myself now. It also fit perfectly, and was easy to place on the iPad. Would definitely recommend this cover. Just pick your favorite color, and get that order placed.

I purchased this cover after my Ipad screen had been broken while in a Griffin Survivor case. After repeated drops by my son, one corner of the inner case had cracked compromising it's protection. I was skeptical that this would be a good solution for me since it did not have a front screen cover like the Griffin. I was nicely surprised. The case is so much lighter than the griffin and is easy to grip. My kids have had it for a couple of months now and the case is rarely dropped. The couple of times it has happened, the case provided the protection needed. I highly recommend this case to anyone that has an ipad that is used by children.

eForCity USB HOTSYNC+DATA CABLE Compatible with PALM TREO 750 680 650

eForCity USB HOTSYNC+DATA CABLE Compatible with PALM TREO 750 680 650When this cable arrived there was no button familiar to Palm users to hotsync; I could not get it to work and was very frustrated. After some conversation with customer service, I did some exploring and discovered that I can initiate a hotsync from the PDA ... go to the main menu, go to hotsync screen and tap the hotsync graphic; it's actually an icon and will then initiate hotsync.

No button needed.

Dave K

So, as other reviewers have stated, the cable won't synch with certain palms. Mine is a 755p, and the synch will not work out of the box. Other users with 650 seem to have the same problem (which makes sense, I believe the 755p is almost identical to the 650).

SOLUTION: If you were unlucky enough to buy this cable, and you have a few minutes, it is possible to fix the cable to work. I believe the problem is that this cable has pin 6, which is the "hotsynch" pin. Typically, if your cable has a "hot synch" button, this pin grounds out to activate the synch. Although the pin connects to nothing in the cable, its presence causes problems. Removing it corrected the problem for me at least.

HOW TO DO IT: If you have tweezers or a tiny pair of pliers, count from the side OPPOSITE the power connector (big square peg) to the SIXTH pin. Pull this pin out. I couldn't get it out from the outside, so I just popped open the connector. To open the connector, there are is a little plastic flap on each side holding it together open these (I just broke them) and pry hard and the case will pop open. Form there I just used tweezers to pull out the sixth pin from the inside, and put the case back together. Voila! It works.

Hope this helps!

(Check out http://pinouts.ru/PDA/palm_treo650_pinout.shtml for more details on the connector if you are interested)

Rating it one star because the item as-is, does not work as advertised on a Treo 650.

This cable (in a bag marked Palm Tungsten T5 USB [2-in-1] Cable) DOES fit my Treo 650, but it won't sync to my computer (yes, I know how to initiate a Hotsync on the Treo without a cable button!!!). Works as a quick charger, though.

Eforcity tried to make this right and sent me another (identical) cable. Same problem: charge, but no sync. Examined their cable with a magnifying glass and noticed that the pin-out is different from my original sync cable. Taking a chance (since now I had 2 cables from seller), I pulled pins out to make their cable like my Treo's it worked!!! Now it syncs as well as charges!!!

PalmOne 97728PLMIN Palm Essentials Kit for Treo 650, 680, 700w
  • Vehicle power charger
  • Horizontal case
  • 2 screen protectors

The horizntal case holds the Treo a bit loose unless you also buy the Palm silicone Flexi Case (highly recommend the Flexi Case). Then all fits nice and snug. The horizontal case is a bit bulky looking, but is well-made and has a strong non-rotating belt clip. The car adapter works fine. The screen protectors are a standard Palm item, although I am not a big fan of the Palm screen protectors (they get dirty fast and are a pin to apply). I much prefer the Screenguardz protectors which are a lot less expensive and look nicer (IMHO).

I love my Treo, but the one drawback is the car adaptor is too tight in the lighter. When I remove the adaptor from any rental car's cigarette lighter, I almost pull the lighter out of the dash -without fail! Is it just this one or are they all like this? My Nokia adaptor doesn't have this problem. Otherwise, it's fine. I find the holster helpful.

Great holder for the Palm Treo series of smart phones. The clip is extremely strong and holds exceptionally well. The magnetic clasp makes it is easy to retrieve the Treo and it holds the Treo securely when closed.

The charger unit makes charging on the go easy and quick. This is a great combination and a must for any Treo owner.

iHome iDM70BC iPad 1 Case with Built-In Rechargeable NXT Flat-Panel Stereo Speakers (Black)

iHome iDM70BC iPad 1 Case with Built-In Rechargeable NXT Flat-Panel Stereo Speakers
  • Protective silicone sleeve
  • 6-position stand
  • Built-in rechargeable flat NXT stereo speakers

  • Durable case protects your iPad - stylish faux leather case keeps your iPad safe and beautiful on the go;
  • Silicon inner sleeve with cutouts for headphone jack, dock connector, on/off and volume
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery with USB charging cable;

This case is for the iPad first generation. iPad2 is smaller and has a more rounded shape contour which will not be a good fit here.

The exterior is made of sturdy leather or leatherette (I can't find a box description if it is made of real leather or not). The iPad, besides being protected by the leather flaps, will also be encased inside a silicone frame. To make sure it is securely closed when not in used, there is an elastic band (similar to Moleskine notebooks) that you can wrap around the cover.

There are several positions you can do with the case, for typing, watching and listening. This can be achieved by switching the two Velcro straps to support the flaps.

There is no extra battery for your iPad, the built-in USB rechargeable battery is for the speaker. The USB cable and the 8mm audio cable are housed in the middle of the iPad cover where there is a mesh pouch. Both are about 8 inches long.

The speaker is louder than the iPad's own speakers, but don't expect too much. It sound very decent, just don't have enough base.

If you have the older iPad, this is a decent external speaker and protective case.

This is a lovely leather Ipad case, but it's also a very nice set of portable speakers. When I'm at home, I sometimes hook it up to my little television that isn't loud enough. If it will take a headphone jack, it can be hooked up to these speakers, and it's nice when one product can be good for more than one purpose. I like the elegance of this solution as well as the elegance of the product design.

I had a previous cover that I loved. I didn't think another cover could compare, but this cover blows my previous one away. It makes it easy to stand your ipad up for movie watching or for use upright with a portable keyboard. It feels like it has more sturdy protection compared to my previous case, and yet it still doesn't add that much weight or bulk. My favorite part is the speakers. I can't believe that such a small cover can make my ipad sound like a real stereo. I think the sound is great, but I will admit that I prefer a softer, low bass sound. This case does everything I can imagine that I'd want a case to do. I highly recommend it.

I feel so incredibly ripped off now. I bought the darn Apple smart cover for my Ipad and it's a useless thing compared to this.

First of all, this is a very well designed, well built, and solid case that protects your Ipad. I feel safe putting my iPad in there and carrying it around without running the risk of scratching it. The smart cover is a flimsy little thing that does nothing but cover up the screen, it's useless in my opinion as the rest of the iPad can be easily damaged. This case not only has a nice leather case surrounding and protecting the expensive iPad from all sides, it also has an internal silicone sleeve for the iPad. Tack on a screen protector and you've literally got two layers of protection for your iPad on all sides. I finally feel good about carrying it around and using it without fear of damage.

As for the the speakers: they're much better than the built in ones for the iPad. However the sounds isn't perfect but it's still very loud, clear, and strong. The rechargeable battery is such a godsend as opposed to other portable Ipad-compatible speakers that drain your iPad for sound output.

Great design in sound, protection, quality, durability, and comfort. I highly reccomend buying this instead of anything the Apple store offers similar to it.

I wasn't all that impressed with this case. I was intrigued by the idea of having a case with built-in speakers, but after using it for a month or so, I've gone back to my old case, the AYL Folio iPad case). This one does make a nice stand for watching movies, but so does my other case. My main issue with this one is how much bulk and weight it adds, it's quite noticeable versus the other case. More annoying, the charger cables are inside at the hinge and I could not get them folded away enough for the case to lay flat when shut, you have to use the elastic band to get it fully shut. It's really annoying. So really the only reason to use this is if you intend to use the sound features a LOT. The sound is just so-so. It definitely is better than the iPad, particularly to produce any amount of volume. But it quickly gets tinny, lacks bass, and is very directional (fades at angles quickly). If you want sound that projects any distance at all, you will want to look elsewhere. I compare it to any of a number of small plugin speakers you can get for an iPhone/iPad and the sounds is pretty much the same, without having to carry the bulk and weight of this case. I tend to need to use headphones as usually I am not someplace where I am able to turn the sound up; in situations where I did want sound, I needed much more than it would produce, so for me, this was a fail compared to other options.

Whoever wrote the previous review most likely just wanted to sell their case or something.

This line in particular is incorrect:

The case attaches to the clie similar to the standard flip cover with the plastic prongs in the back.

I just bought the case from one of the "used" section. It's new though, and definitely doesn't have any prongs. All it has is the little leather flab, which to me is quite disappointing. If you open the case to use your pda, there will be nothing holding the case to the pda. It'll just flap around even more than the original cover did (which at least had the prongs to hold the case in) and just be another annoying thing to carry while you're trying to use your pda.

Anyways, that's a pretty big annoyance for me, but if you don't mind, then it's fine in every other respect.

rooCASE Ultra Slim (Black) Leather Case Cover Cover with Stand for Sony S1 Android Tablet Wi-Fi

rooCASE Ultra Slim Leather Case Cover Cover with Stand for Sony S1 Android Tablet Wi-FiThis is an awesome case being that there are very few to choose from for this Sony Tablet S. It is a glove-like fit, but if you use the IR emitter to control TVs and other home entertainment devices, it will not work. The case is well designed, but forgot to incorporate Sony's IR sensor so that FULL functionality could be rendered. I simply just took some scissors and opened up the top of the case making room for the sensor and now it works. I had to burn the stitching to lock it in place and keep it from coming undone, but other than that it is an awesome case. It also functions as a landscape stand and does not feel flimsy. Overall a great product and I would recommend it to all Sony Tablet S owners, if you do not really use the remote control app included with the device.

Just bought the case after hearing about it through blogs. The competition was all sold out and I wanted a case for protection.

It fits like a glove. The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 is that the infrared is blocked. There is a hole on top, but it is not designed right. The IR signal is not sent out so you must take the tab out of the sleeve to control your devices. I will probably try and stretch the hole with a scissors to see if this will help.

Roocase, a nice fit, but slightly flawed design. Not sure if the competition will allow the IR signal out.

This is a well-made basic cover that provides great protection against dings and scratches because it is made of quality leather but is only of limited use in protecting against drops and other such shock damages. Many cases add significantly to the thickness and heft of a device but not this one and that I much appreciate. One thing that I would like to see is some way to secure the cover closed.

GEARONIC Kindle fire HD Black Magnetic Microfiber Leather Case w/Smart Cover Handheld Belt Stylus Ho

GEARONIC Kindle fire HD Black Magnetic Microfiber Leather Case w/Smart Cover Handheld Belt Stylus HolderI originally bought a case that could rotate 360 degrees; while that case was great for hands-free viewing, it didn't provide enough stability when holding the Kindle for reading. This case provides that stability -I can hold the Kindle with one hand, with or without the hand strap, even when I'm lying down in bed. Other good things: the sleep/wake function, the elastic strap for closing, the speaker holes, the cutouts for all ports including the charger, a loop for a stylus. Negatives for this case include not being able to fold the front cover perfectly flush against the back cover (although this actually isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be). Also, while it stands well in the landscape mode, it doesn't stand well in portrait mode. It's not the thinnest case out there, about the size of an average hardcover book. The PU leather has a slight smell that goes away with time. Overall, the negatives are minor. For this price, I think it's a good deal.

This case offers the best option for flexible, stable positioning (landscape or portrait orientation) for the Kindle Fire HD with an elegant pebbled leather appearance and cutouts for the dual Dolby speakers (so as not to muffle the sound). But keep in mind it is a bit bulkier/heavier than other rooCase options, such as the beautiful-looking 'Origami' style that's designed with faux leather.

Your Kindle Fire HD 7" slips into a pocket in this case to keep it safely enclosed. When the cover closes it puts the Fire HD into sleep mode. When you open the cover, the HD wakes up (but still must be swipe unlocked). There are cutouts in the enclosure that keep all vital connectors and controllers exposed and easy to access (mini USB for charging, HDMI, volume button, On/Off button, headphone jack, speakers, etc.).

The enclosure pocket attaches via velcro to an outer, stiff cover. It's that outer cover that has the built-in ridges that allow you to prop your Fire HD up at various angles in either a horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) position. I personally like the variety & stability of angles that are conducive to either reading or typing on the tablet. There's a very soft fabric on the inside of the hardish outer shell, so there's no surface that could scratch the screen of your Fire HD.

I especially like the flexibility to remove and reposition that enclosure pocket due to what I consider a "flawed" programming design in the new Kindle Fire HDs that is, they don't allow auto-rotation of all supported apps. So for some apps you have to turn your Fire HD so that the apps aren't upside down. With many Fire HD cases that becomes a problem (at least to me!) because the binding of the case must be held to the right (with the camera cutout to the left). As someone who reads left to right and holds books with the binding to the left, that feels awkward to me. This particular case alleviates that problem. You can detach the enclosure portion and reposition it any way you like in the outer protective hard cover. This was not an issue in the 1st gen Fire's with them it was obvious what was right side up so developers' apps didn't have to build in the code to deal with the fact that Amazon (counter-intuitively for a predominantly American-based company with a largely US target market base) designed the Fire HD with the camera to be positioned to the left...

I use a ZAGG bluetooth wireless keyboard with my Fire HD and it sits very nicely on the front portion of this case when I have the tablet angled in the case either horizontally or vertically. To be clear, it is a separate keyboard. It doesn't fit within this case. But it is easy to position in front of the screen to eliminate hunt & peck typing. And stays put on that nice velvet-like material inside the rooCase cover.

Getting it out of the way, my only complaint is the I wished the device went into the case the opposite way so that the volume/power buttons were placed at the top BECAUSE this way you end up bumping the buttons when you prop up the device. Besides that, this is the BEST Kindle case out there. It may not be fashionable, but its functionality is top shelf. I can rotate my tablet every which way, and then velcro it into place. I also read in my bed, which makes most kindle cases topple overbut not this one. It keeps your kindle upright wherever you are.

I love the versatility of this case. It seems to be very well made the materials are of high quality. The only thing I don't like is the location of the stylus holder. If I position the Kindle Fire so that the power and volume controls are on the top where I like them, then the stylus holder is on the left side inside the book cover causing it not to close properly. It works out ok to have the stylus on the other side; it's just that the controls are on the bottom. That's really the only problem. Otherwise the case is just perfect!

This case is great! I can prop it up in either direction so I can watch movies and play games or read a book. The leather gives it an executive look and the stilus helps with choosing the correct item on the screen when you fingertip is too large. I like that you can remove it complete from the case also if you don't want to carry the entire case around.

rooCASE Slim-Fit (Red) Folio Case Cover with Hand Strap for Amazon Kindle Fire 7-Inch Android Tablet

rooCASE Slim-Fit Folio Case Cover with Hand Strap for Amazon Kindle Fire 7-Inch Android TabletThis case is quite nice--it protects the Fire and can be used as a stand. The only minor drawback is that it doesn't close completely (the edge opposite the spine sticks up about 1/2 inch when it is closed). I imagine that over time the spine will stretch out a bit so the case will lie completely flat.

Fantastic, perfect, excellent, wonderful, and best of all...affordable! The color is a great red (not pinkish or too bright). Easy to use. Love it!

Bluetooth USB 2.0 Micro Adapter Dongle

Bluetooth USB 2.0 Micro Adapter DongleThis mini 2.0 USB Blue Tooth dongle has potential but the bundled software ruins it. I paid about 5-6 bucks (including shipping) for it the reseller had it to me in record time. At this price point, really, there was not much for me to lose and my expectations were not that high.

The dongle ships in a plastic pack with a mini CDROM. The mini CDROM has software (Bluesoleil 2.6.0.8) that enables Blue Tooth features that go beyond the basic Windows XP Blue Tooth capabilities, including A2DP (stereo music).

The dongle is tiny. I have an Acer Aspire One netbook and the dongle barely juts out from the side of the netbook a clear improvement over my Targus Blue Tooth USB dongle, which is 1 1/2 inches long. This improvement, however, was the only improvement to be found.

When using this USB dongle in a Windows XP environment, you really have two choices:

1) Plug it in and let XP detect and install a generic Blue Tooth driver for the device

2) Install the Bluesoleil software

If you go with the XP drivers, you are going to be able to use a decent and stable set of features, such as a reliable Blue Tooth mouse connection.

If you go with the Bluesoleil software, it opens up the functionality of the device and provides additional features that the XP drivers don't support, such as stereo music.

The problem is, the Bluesoleil software is not good. The user interface is ugly and non-intuitive. You'll just have to install it to see for yourself. Additionally, the software is, by design, crippled. Per the help menu, patches and upgrades will cost you. You can purchase a full version that, among other things, removes the data transfer speed-cap so that you can listen to MP3s without hiccups.

Setting aside the fairly annoying and yet not deal-breaking aspects of the software is the fact that the software doesn't play well with the audio drivers of my Acer Aspire One netbook. If I try to open an audio gateway to my Motorola BT stereo headphones, the Aspire RealTek soundchip drivers crash and crash again. And that is if I can even get the software to agree to create an audio gateway; it doesn't seem to be able to do so reliably.

I searched for information regarding the Bluesoleil software and the majority of the search results returned ways to work around the issues and many results even outlined how to reconfigure competitive software packages to work with the dongle in order to circumnavigate the Bluesoleil software altogether. I tried every trick that was described. I found some success in working with different software hacks but the time I spent was not well spent.

Back to my old Targus BT dongle, it was about 25 bucks. I installed the included software (WIDCOMM) and it just works. Five minutes of fiddling and it all works. It's silver and pokes way out and is pretty lame looking, but it gives me no grief.

In the end, I guess if your time is worth nothing than the cheapo BT dongle is for you. However, if you want the BT dongle to just work out of the box with no issues for every application that you expect it to work for, do some research and pay for what you expect to receive.

I have to caveat that this dongle and the included software may be just fine for you. For me however, it did not meet my requirements which are: BT mouse, BT stereo headphones and BT cellphone connections. All at once. Without any issues. The Targus dongle does this and I guess I'll just live with its unfortunate form factor.

First unit received had a manufacturing defect that prevented the dongle from being attached to the usb port.

The replacement could not pair with other devices using Microsoft's bluetooth driver on XP(sp3) clean install. It also did not work with Microsoft's bluetooth driver on Vista x64. Also tried ubuntu linux 9.04 and also did not work.

After troubleshooting in ubuntu, the system log revealed that the device shuts down and restarts each time the bluetooth radio is used. And that was the apparent cause of pairing failures.

update: the device doesn't appear to use the Broadcom 2045 Chipset as stated in the detailed description. I installed the WIDCOMM bluetooth driver from Broadcom and it doesn't recognize the device.

Based on the couple other reviews, I thought that I would take a gamble on it. I needed something to connect my cell phone bluetooth headset to my computer for a VoIP setup needed for work. With little information and having never used bluetooth, I gambled and I won.

The dongle has a small foot print. The software is excellent. I was able to connect all my cell phones and the wireless headsets to the computer with out any problem. Further, I was able to integrate my wireless headsets to my VoIP application (Avaya IP Agent, in case anyone is wondering). I was pleasantly surprised to see that the device packaging says that it is VoIP capable. The software is easy to use.

Over all, I am very pleased with the device. For less than $10 and the small footprint, you can't go wrong using this device.

I recommend it to anyone looking for bluetooth USB adapter.

I know you're tempted by a bargain (I was!), but put the money towards a better adapter.

This might work for some, but on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine, the default drivers from Windows Update don't work (can't get through the pairing process). The version of BlueSoleil shipped with the product is obsolete and also doesn't work. BlueSoleil does have a nice working version on their website, but to get a full version without the shady data transfer limit, you'll need to shell out another $20 or so, at which point it's no longer worth it. Lastly either the dongle is NOT based on a Broadcom chipset, or Broadcom didn't write any 64-bit drivers, but their Bluetooth setup utility cannot detect the device either.

I feel like maybe if I keep digging around the web I'll eventually figure it out, but at this point I'm ready to throw in the towel. At least it's only a couple bucks down the drain.

The dongle just fried when I plugged it into the usb port and ceased to work except as a fingertip warmer.

APC AP7750 Rack ATS/15A/8-Outlet/120V Rack-mount Transfer Switches
  • 1U 15A 120V 2/5-15P IN 8/5-15R OUT

I first bought one of these units in October, which has been running w/o any issues since, even lasted through several power events in the data center. I now purchased another one and will be buying 2 more. I looked at similar products from Tripplite but decided against them as their reliability wasn't to my expectation (one of the reviewers commented that it went out after a couple of weeks of use). I have several single power source devices and this does the trick, wish they had one with slightly higher load as well as outlet facing amp meter (or any amp meter) other than the web frontend. Would be nice and in my opinion the only thing that caused me to give it 4 stars and not 5.

Simple, easy to setup, and manage remotely. It would be nice to control the individual outlets on as you can on their Network Management Cards (e.g. remote power on/off) for those devices that are stubborn. But the remote notification works with SMS and email.

This is a great product offered by APC. We use it on our systems that do not have redundant power supplies. It, in essence, replaces that need.

Sandisk 8GB Class 4 C4 MicroSDHC MicroSD Card (Retail Packaged)

Sandisk 8GB Class 4 C4 MicroSDHC MicroSD CardWhen I purchased this flash memory card, I didn't have a clue about different classes or speeds of memory cards. I just knew that my digital camera seemed to take foreeeeeeeeeeeever to refresh so that I could take another picture; thought it was the camera. Then I bought a SanDisk 8 Gb Class 10 here on Amazon and what a difference! Quickly refreshes for another shot. Class 4 is OK for scenery/inanimate subjects, but when shooting anything that moves--especially animals or kids--best to go with a 10. And SanDisk seems to be the most reliable of other brands that I researched.

PDair Leather Case for T-Mobile HTC myTouch 4G - Book Type (Black)

PDair Leather Case for T-Mobile HTC myTouch 4G - Book TypeThis is a decent case, but I had a couple of problems with it. The first was that I also experienced the random restart/freeze that the other reviewer observed. Also, after a few weeks, the phone kept slipping out of the case. For that reason, I decided to return the case. The seller was extremely responsive and gave a quick, no hassle refund.

  • Back cover can be folded into a stand to prop up the Fire so that it can be viewed hands-free
  • Built-in frame offers a snug fit for the Fire to keep it safely inside the case at all times
  • Extra secure flap keeps the Fire in the Book Case and keeps it from accidentally slipping out
  • Design of the case allows for complete access to all of the device features

I have only had this a couple days, so I can't attest to its longevity, however I'm extremely pleased with this case. I was hesitant to order because I wasn't sure how the cork would be as far as its texture and its tendency to flake. Thankfully, the cork has a finish of some sort and is soft and smooth! And as long as you're not storing your kindle with a bunch of rocks, I think the case should hold together fine. Also pretty nice is the elastic strap on the inside of the binding, which simulates the magnet closure and to be honest, I like it better. So all in all, I am very very happy with this purchase.

Cocoon CPS300WH Mini Portfolio Case For Games and Digital Devices - White

Cocoon CPS300WH Mini Portfolio Case For Games and Digital Devices - White
  • Shock absorbent molded case perfect for Sony PSP/nintendo DS series
  • Proprietary GRID-IT organization system ? a rubberized woven elastic object retention system for gadget organization
  • Ideal for organizing iPod, iPhone, BlackBerry and other digital devices
  • Convenient pocket for additional storage
  • The ultimate gamers companion

I was looking for a gadget case and ultimately my decision came down to this case and the Amazon Basics Gadget Case. At the time of my purchase they were both similar in price. A combination of the Grid-It in this case and the "smell problem" that some have reported with the Amazon one lead me to purchase this case. I'm very glad I did. It is top quality and very sturdy. The zipper is heavy duty. It looks nice and holds what I want it to hold. The form factor is so-so, as I would have liked to purchase something more rectangular rather than square, but that's a minor gripe. Prospective buyers should know that there's not much room once you fill up the Grid-It. However, I was able to jam in two Kindle Fires (with low profile cases); a small point and shoot camera; an extra camera batter; a Kindle Fire charging cord; a retractable mini-usb cord; a retractable micro-usb cord, a thumb drive, ear buds and a couple of extra sd cards. It was a little difficult to get the zipper shut but I did fit it all in. Everything but the Kindle Fires, the KF charger and the sd cards were in the Grid-It.

Finally, I would keep an eye on the price of these. They seem to fluctuate wildly. I was able to get mine at about 30% off the list, and it actually went down further after that (only to go all the way back up again a few days later).

Oh, one more thing: the dimensions on Amazon were not accurate. On the product page it says 9.2 x 8 x 2 inches, which makes it sound a bit more rectangular. I don't recall exactly what the real dimensions are -something like 8.5" x 8.5" x 2" -but it is a perfect square. [Update: the dimensions have been corrected on Amazon]

Update: [3/5/11] Still love the case and the price actually dropped down below $10 for the white, gray and brown versions, so I picked up a gray one at this great price. Amazon should add more pictures. I don't think customers realize that there is a Grid-It inside the case.

This is a nice case for carrying cords, power supplies, etc. The webbing works well, and I really like that it has a fairly solid form. Everything stays in place, and the case goes in and out of my travel bag easily.

I bought this item not to hold games but to store stuff like my iPod and chargers that I have thrown in my glove compartment in my car. It looked more economical to buy this than just the Grid It and it worked out beautifully. The case is study and I feel quite happy that my stuff are protected and organized. It is so much easier to put my hands on things. Great buy.

I was looking for a a case to hold all my chargers and technological gizzmos in one place. Didn't even know that these existed but was happy to find them.

I like this case and the Grid-It is great. The dimensions given must be the outside dimensions because my label maker should fit in the case but I have to use a little force to it to zip.
