Pretec CompactLan Card for Pocket PCs

Pretec CompactLan Card for Pocket PCs
  • Portable Ethernet LAN adapter designed for Windows-powered Pocket PCs
  • 10 Mbps maximum data transfer rate
  • Synchronize, back up files, browse the Web, and run e-mail
  • LED indicators show network status
  • Also compatible with Windows CE Palm-sized PC, Handheld PC, and AutoPC

I just received the card and I am using it to write this review. There are not many instructions with the card, but the Pretec website has step-by-step instructions to set up the card for pocket pc's. The card works great with my Ipaq 3630 and it comes with an adaptor for PCMCIA cards in laptops. To install the card in my desktop, I had to download the drivers from the company's website, but it was also easy to setup. I highly recommend this product .

Thought Out PED3-U Universal Steel Stand

Thought Out PED3-U Universal Steel Stand
  • Any device for portrait or landscape viewing - This is our simplest entry level stand, while the lowest cost it has similarities to our premium stand holders.
  • Designed from a heavy solid formed slab of steel - Quality made in the USA
  • Vinyl protected and over cupped holding fingers for secure holding
  • Cable management split backTM design and Non slip footing - Anti-scratch baked textured coating
  • For bare device or a device with a case, skin or bumper including the iPhone 5, iPhone, iPod touch, Blackberry, Droid, Palm, Motorola, Smartphones and more (too many to list)

This stand is amazing. It fits my iPhone 4 fantastically, even thought I have my phone encased in an Otterbox.

I watch a lot of TV via the slingbox and the stand holds the phone at a fantastic viewing angle.

Totally worth getting and I'm seriously considering getting another one.

You will *NOT* be disappointed!

If you're looking for an elegant way to keep your smartphone-ish device out of your pocket, go ahead and add this to your cart. The cutout on the back of the stand allows you to easily thread a power cable to your device and the flat surface that serves as the base of stand allows you to reclaim that space. I wish the base of the stand were a bit heavier when I try to use my phone while on the stand it tends to rock backward. This should not dissuade you from purchasing this product an external hard drive, wallet or something of that weight placed on the base of the stand will easily make this one of your most cherished, and simple, tech accessories. Tested with a Nexus One, Treo 700 and an iPod Touch all fit very well.

I think this is an excellent stand. So much so, that I've bought two, one for home and one for the office. Vertically or horizontally, the iPhone rests in it wonderfully. What's also great is that it is "universal," as promised. I've used it for Blackberries, and other handhelds as well.

This piece of sleek and functional tech furniture does what it's designed to do and looks great doing it. The unibody construction and tilt of the angle are perfect and when paired with my iphone, it reminds me of an eager robot awaiting my command.

I purchased this stand so that my girlfriend and I could plug our iPhones into the speakers we have in the bathroom without leaving the phone sitting on the sink or a shelf. I didn't need all the extra junk that most stands here provide, and this is the perfect solution.

It's a solid stand, nice and heavy with rubber sleeves on the nubs where your phone rests. It's quick and easy to place your phone in the stand, and the viewing angle is great for watching movies, facetime, etc. Not only did this turn out to be exactly what I needed for the bathroom, but I'm probably going to order one or two more for other locations in the house.

I'm very pleased with this product.

PalmOne 97728PLMIN Palm Essentials Kit for Treo 650, 680, 700w

PalmOne 97728PLMIN Palm Essentials Kit for Treo 650, 680, 700w
  • Vehicle power charger
  • Horizontal case
  • 2 screen protectors

The horizntal case holds the Treo a bit loose unless you also buy the Palm silicone Flexi Case (highly recommend the Flexi Case). Then all fits nice and snug. The horizontal case is a bit bulky looking, but is well-made and has a strong non-rotating belt clip. The car adapter works fine. The screen protectors are a standard Palm item, although I am not a big fan of the Palm screen protectors (they get dirty fast and are a pin to apply). I much prefer the Screenguardz protectors which are a lot less expensive and look nicer (IMHO).

I love my Treo, but the one drawback is the car adaptor is too tight in the lighter. When I remove the adaptor from any rental car's cigarette lighter, I almost pull the lighter out of the dash -without fail! Is it just this one or are they all like this? My Nokia adaptor doesn't have this problem. Otherwise, it's fine. I find the holster helpful.

Great holder for the Palm Treo series of smart phones. The clip is extremely strong and holds exceptionally well. The magnetic clasp makes it is easy to retrieve the Treo and it holds the Treo securely when closed.

The charger unit makes charging on the go easy and quick. This is a great combination and a must for any Treo owner.

I purchased this product because of the magnetic cover and business card holder. After a year of use and seeing what other people had and hated, I'm very pleased with the case and charger. The case is used every day and has not shown any wear and tear on it.

Kingston 512MB Secure Digital SD Card (SD/512, BULK)

Kingston 512MB Secure Digital SD CardI finally closed my eBay account because I was so sick of crooks who listed items for 99 cents and then made their money on exorbitant shipping and handling charges. (one guy listed a USB flash drive for 99 cents and wanted EIGHTY-FOUR DOLLARS in shipping/handling)

This seller is almost as bad. I added five of these $1.99 SD cards to my cart for a total of $9.95, then cancelled the order because the shipping would have been almost thirty bucks.

Needless to say, this is ridiculous. I can ship five SD cards anywhere in the country for less than ten bucks. Why is Blue Proton charging thirty?

This is just another way for unethical sellers to try to rip people off and make them think they're getting a good deal when they're really not.

$165 for shipping $98 worth of SD Cards. I wasted my time going through the order just to cancel at the end when I found out what shipping was going to be.

Buy Kingston 512MB Secure Digital SD Card (SD/512, BULK) Now

Item doesn't include the standard American lifetime warranty that Kingston products usually come with. I can't read the "Taiwanese" that this product ships with...maybe there's a Taiwan warranty. You're better off spending a bit more and receiving an item that's guarranteed for life. It's not uncommon for a file to become corrupted and the card rendered useless.

i must to agree with d. hines because the shipping cost seems to be very expensive. plus the button track never appear in the order and the seller never respond when i asked for my product that, by the way, arrived out of time in spite of was been buyed with expedited shipping. anyway the total cost was good for me.

Will you morons stop complaining about shipping prices? If you can do basic arithmetic, you'd see that the total price is similar to other listing that have higher price tags. They're doing it to avoid steep commissions. Amazon & eBay are making gazillions so I always rue for the underdogs.

5mw 532nm Military High Power Green Laser Pointer Pen

5mw 532nm Military High Power Green Laser Pointer Pen
  • Body Color: Black
  • Laser Wave Length: 532nm.Output power:5mw
  • Safety:Do not look into the aperture of the laser beam. Laser radiation is potentially harmful! Do not directly aim into eye. Keep out of reach of children!
  • Package includes: 1 x Military High Power Green Laser Pointer 1 x Free rechargeable 880mAh W/CR123A battery 1 x Wall Charger
  • 1 year warranty

As the other review stated...This laser is VERY bright. I wouldn't play with my cat or dog with this laser. My dog is actually afraid of it lol.

It really seems more powerful than described. I am completely satisfied with my order. Came with a charger, battery, and laser. I will update review to let you know if it is still running ok along with the battery life.

The laser is all metal and feels very durable, no plastic at all (except for the button). I took it out at night and shined it across the lake at my friends house (just over 1/4th of a mile) and he literally said it lit up his whole house!

It had a very nice beam (just like the picture shows) but it was a little foggy out but inside you can still see the beam very bright with the lights off. You cant really see the beam during the day but is very bright at night time. It really does light up corners and hard to areas in the dark. I would recommend this to a friend!

Does not burn matches or plastic lol, but it does make them warmer...but for a laser that will do that your looking at +$150 for "true" mW laser.

Probably not great for meetings (since its so bright), but perfect for astronomers!

Updateit's been awhile and I forgot to update this broke after about 45 days of use it was past 30 day return so I didn't even bother returning it. I would now not recommend this product. It was fun while it lasted. The beam turned a dark red and wouldn't even show up on a piece of paper inches in front of it.

READ ADDITION AT BOTTOM FIRST

This laser is amazing. I haven't had it for a whole day now, so i dont know how long it will last, but it feels pretty strong! The laser worked right out of the box, no charge needed. It is SUPER bright and much brighter than any laser i have had before. The dot is clearly visible across the street, shone from my bedroom, in the middle of the day, with the sun out. The beam is clearly visible and very bright in the dark, and it is still slightly visible in a well sun-lit room during the day. Although it is very bright, it does not give off any heat at all. I pointed the dot right at my hand for about 15 seconds and didn't feel any heat. The laser is a bit smaller than one would imagine from the picture, It's around 5 inches long. Overall, from what i can tell so far, this is definitely a great buy for the price.

READ FIRST VVVV

ADDITION: Although this laser is great, I ordered a different laser with this one as well. I did this becuase if i had problems with one, i would have the other. The other one i bought turns out to be A BETTER DEAL THAN THIS ONE. Not only is this other laser CHEAPER, but the other laser i bought is brighter, higher quality looking and feeling, and has MANY more features than this laser. • Simple Setup the Smart Setup Wizard connects the A/V Net Connect to your home Wi-Fi network in minutes. Simply enter the setup URL, scan for your wireless network, select it and you're done!

I will make this short and sweet. I have bought 3 of these things. The first one didn't work. I returned it after being on the phone with the Amped Wireless people, and my internet service provider (Surewest Broadband), and having a service technician come out and look at it. They all guessed that the unit was faulty/bad, so I returned it and ordered a replacement. The second one worked (go figure). I recently ordered a third one, because I wanted to add an access point to another room. The reason I wanted THESE particular wireless repeaters, is because they ALSO have Ethernet ports. That allows older devices (like 1st and 2nd generation blu-ray players) that are capable of going online only with a wired connection, to still work.

The 3rd one didn't work either, and, as an added bonus -it knocked my 2nd one (which had been working up to that point) offline, and I couldn't get it back online after that (must have been a fluke that I got it connected at all in the first place). The symptoms for the units not working are their inability to STAY connected to the network. They will connect, and then disconnect, over and over again. After the 3rd one KO'd the 2nd one, I called Amped and tried to get help. I left a message because it was after hours. Days later, I was tired of waiting for them to call me back, so I called my ISP. We tried *EVERYTHING* to get them working (three cheers for Surewest, by the way, their 24x7 tech support was AWESOME helping me work through this). After messing with what channel the router was on, and various other settings, we final stumbled across the fact that the security mode the router was set on, affected whether or not the Amped Wireless Repeater could connect or not. The repeater was able to connect, and stay connected, in WEP mode, and also WPA-mixed mode (but not the most current WPA2 mode).

Now that we have monkeyed with literally all of the settings, and rebooted everything and got them all to connect, I am happy. But -it was a *GIANT* hassle. I work with technology for a living, so I was fairly comfortable messing with these things. Additionally, my ISP locks me out of my router, and only they can mess with it remotely -which can be irritating, but also means a professional is changing the settings. I cannot even imagine how a non-technically inclined person would handle buying the repeater, and having their home network set on WPA2, and not being able to connect the repeater to the network. They certainly wouldn't know how to log into their router and change security level settings. I imagine, that, like me, they would send it back as broken. Amped, when I talked to them, never mentioned the security settings on the router. The only thing they wanted to try was port forwarding, which, when we did do so with the ISP, didn't solve the issue.

So, there you have it. When the device works, it is pretty awesome. But getting it to the point where it is working can be a chore. If yours works right out of the box with your network, then bump my review up to 4 stars. Otherwise, the 3 star rating stands.

Buy Amped Wireless A/V Net Connect (AV3000) Now

While upgrading my home theater receiver I knew I had to finally bring a strong Internet connection into my media room, but pulling wire was going to be way too much hassle, so I went looking for a reliable wireless n bridge router. After researching a number of products from brands I was familiar with, I came across the Amped Wireless AV3000. I'd never heard of the company before, but the reviews were as strong (stronger) as any I'd read and the price was very reasonable, so I bought one. I'm so glad I did--it rocks! Set-up was easy, save for needing to access the unit by the IP address as the URL didn't work for me. This must be fairly common as it is clearly explained in the set up instructions. Once past that, setup was a breeze and I was up and running in no time. I now have my new receiver (Marantz SR7005--totally awesome!!!), my Oppo Blu-Ray and my Tivo HD all wired to the AV3000 and everything works great. In the past when streaming Netflicks through Tivo using the Tivo wireless g connection we had to suffer through numerous pauses during the first fifteen minutes or so as the movie downloaded, even at a less than ideal resolution. With the AV3000, even the highest res streaming flies without a hitch. Sweet. I highly recommend this bridge to anyone looking for a reasonable cost, effective solution to getting wired connections in locations that are hard to pull wire to. You won't regret it.

Not only does this function as an access point to my home wifi (my wireless adapter card kept constantly dropping connection), this will increase range to your home network by at least 70 feet. In my room (where the av connect is) i used to get3 bars, now i have full 5 bars of signal.

#1 reason why you should get this, Because I am using it mainly to connect my desktop, the ethernet connection made it i do not have to install any drivers or anything else, just plug in the ethernet cable and youre good to go! its as simple as that, upon first use, you set up the name, and whether or not to use the av connect as a wireless repeater.

You can use any basic cat5 or cat 6 cable because maximum speed for wireless N right now is 300mbps so a 1gbps cable is not needed.

Even though my router rarely has any problems, its nice to know that amped wireless will "self heal" the connection, meaning it will constantly try to reconnect if connection is ever dropped.

Keep note, it is much smaller than i expected it to be, probably half the size of a normal router, but it packs a punch!it can be mounted on a wall or has a stand so it can be vertical.

the 2 antannaes can be replaced with more powerful ones, but the until itself should already suffice, as the av connect amplifies its signals with a 100mw low noise amp i believe, ( i might be wrong on the exact wattage).

You can control how big of a wireless field the unit emits from max to none at all which is nice if you have a small house or if you dont want the feeling of 100% wifi signal pulsing through your body.

Ive had this for 2 weeks now and i love it, literally 0 issues whatsoever. sure its 100 bucks but id rather spend it knowing i dont have to worry about my internet connection again rather than having to frustrate over a crappy $50 that keeps dropping the connection in the middle of netflix.

Edit: I did receive a replacement unit and my problem was fixed. There are still several buggy things within the firmware and I wouldn't recommend this product.

This device does not do what it is marketed to do. With the latest firmware I am unable to stay connected to my access point for more than a day. (This was corrected by forcing my Wireless Router to a static channel, instead of the auto function).

This device also drops it's configuration on a regular basis. I then have to connect a laptop via Ethernet and re-configure the device again. This is very inconvenient since I don't normally have a PC connected to it, only AV equipment.

Their use of DNS forwarding in their interface is a horrible idea. Overall their web interface is pretty bad. I've worked on enterprise level networking gear for eleven years. Take my advice, small home and business users; stay far away from this product.

To my own discredit I misunderstood something about the product. This doesn't play into my review score but it should be helpful for others. The Amped Wireless makes the claim that the AV3000 can also act as a wireless repeater of sorts. For a proper repeater to work it would need two separate wireless cards. This device does not. It is using an embedded linux and just creates a software based AP which then routes you via the same wireless modem to your access point (which is providing internet access). The problem with this is that you now have two APs on the same channel in the same close proximity. If you know anything about wireless you know that you should have your APs on dissimilar channels. Because they wanted a good list of features without the added hardware cost you suffer. The latest firmware does offer the ability to disable this soft AP but it doesn't work.

Overall, I was disappointed by this product. I bought it to connect my home theater devices to the internet and to extend the range of my wifi network. It wasn't hard to set up although it was a little awkward to connect to a computer by lan. But the wireless connection to the router dropped numerous times over a period of five days (at least once per day), causing me to do a hard reset disconnect the power each time. I read other reviews which said that this kind of problem was caused by the security setting of WAP2 not managed well by the AV3000, so I reset my router to WAP only; didn't seem to make a difference.

I replaced with a Linksys WN2500RP which was a little cheaper and easier to set up; no dropped connections.

This unit has great sound for movies and gaming, from such a small package, however, with mono broadcast, such as tv news etc, it sounds a little muffled. The volume is great, and the app lets you adjust the sound seperation, really does a great job. Now what I dont like, and I understand this is Apple's fault, is that it is in-convienent to charge your ipad, you have to remove the ipad from the Thunderstorm . Because of this, I may return the Thunderstorm. Just doesnt make sence that you have to remove to charge. And I would have prefered a usb charging cable, instead you get a big bulky charger.

Update 2-15-2013

Since I first reviewed the Thunderstorm, which was yesterday, Belkin has responded to inform me that indeed the ipad can be charged thru the case using the belkin supplied charger. Now this is a company that cares about thier products, responding to a review that fast. So I have changed my review to 5 stars and will not be returning the unit, in fact I will be ordering another, for my ipad 3, thank you Belkin.

PROS much improved sound in a sleek unified unit, adjustable settings *****

CONS cover not durable, inaccurate set-up instructions, some sound artifacts ***

These speakers make me want to start watching movies and tv on my ipad. Seriously, once I set it up and heard a bit, I started looking for available movies which I had missed. Previously I found the ipad too weak of a player to be interested in online videos, but the results with this device are impressive. I really like the way this sleek case with multiposition cover becomes part if the ipad itself, making it so much easier to use and move around than other ipad external speakers. I don't mind the extra width needed for the speakers themselves, but if you carry it around a lot, the added weight could be annoying. Two+ people could easily sit together and watch something.

These speakers also do a great job with music, letting you hear more instruments with clarity, and bass notes, than with either the poor little built-in speaker, or earbuds.

MY CAT: was alternately captivated and frightened by the meowing sounds that came out of these speakers when I played some cat videos from youtube, which shows how much better the sound quality is (previously she has never been interested in cat videos before, either online or over-the-air on our tv). I tried to find technical specs on the Belkin site about frequency response (so I could compare it to my old audiophile equipment) but I couldn't find any; however the verizonwireless site's description of this product claims it is 40-20,000 Hz, with a signal to noise ratio of 91dB.

With the (non-required) app, you can set music source to either music, cinema, or gaming, for different sound qualities, and you have three degrees of speaker separation. Apparently lots of this is done through digital signal processing with a chip and amplifier in the device. As the sound channels are more widely separated, however, some echoing appears as an artifact (which some may enjoy).

ISSUES: Overall, I am really happy with this device, however:

Regarding design, when the cover is closed, the little Belkin charging light in the speaker area is covered (I am considering punching a hole). Also, though it is "smart cover style", it doesn't have the little magnet that automatically turns the ipad on and off as you open and close the cover (I am thinking of trying to add one myself). Additionally, if you need to connect to the ipad for some other reason (e..g camera connector, moving files to a laptop), you have to take it out of the case, not that big of an issue however. Otherwise it does a great job preserving access to all the switches and ports and cameras, and it is nice that it charges the ipad itself as well as the Thunderstorm speakers. (However, I am concerned that wattage is not optimized for the ipad and may cut battery life).

ETA: After little more than a week of use, the edge of the cover has started separating. This does not affect the great sound of this product, but is quite disappointing. It still works fine as a stand, but is a bit fussier to open.

Regarding documentation, they said to install the Thunder app (implying that it is necessary), then start using it. Well, once the Thunderstorm was installed and the app was opened, all it did was direct me to a web page of support info, which only told me how to mechanically install the Thunderstorm (which I had already done). It didn't tell me how to get from the app support page to actually allowing me to change the sound settings, and there seemed to be no way beyond this window. It took me a long time to contrive a way to make this work: leave the app, start playing a video in youtube, and then restart the app which finally realized that I already has the Thunderstorm installed, then finally it let me change sound settings. But it turns out that the app itself is not required to use the device, only to change sound settings -you can just install the Thunderstorm and start listening (without the options that the app offers). (It would be nice if settings could be changed in some way within the video playing, instead of having to leave the video and fire up the app.) And, as noted above, the only place I could find technical specs were on a third-party page. Belkin needs to be more accurate and complete with information both in the box and on the website (this may have improved by the time you are reading this).

Save 20% Off

I was very satisfied with the device. The speakers are very good and loud. I use it to show videos to a small group of nursing students (6). The sound is very good.

My only problem is the cover is not magnetized to put to iPad to sleep as the Apple cover does and sometimes I forget to put thew iPad to sleep and the battery is rundown.

Against the advice of friends, I bought the Acer Aspire after reading PCMag and other reviews suggesting it as a good replacement for a PC. The laptop arrived, looked ok, powered up but the screen was black. Spent quite some time trying to figure out what went wrong. Was told that it was most likely a failure in the mainframe, battery or power cord all of which would need to be replaced. I was very disappointed but realized that cheap is cheap and opted to return it and get a more expensive competitor (HP Envy) and so far so good. I wouldn't recommend the Acer even if you're just looking for a cheaper option for a child. Unreliable and cheap. I also want to mention that the laptop arrived a day later than promised by Amazon. First time in a long time that happened. All around a bad experience I won't be repeating.

Rii II Touch N7 Wireless Bluetooth Mini Keyboard Touchpad for PC, HTPC, Apple, Xbox360, Wii, PS3 Wit

Rii II Touch N7 Wireless Bluetooth Mini Keyboard Touchpad for PC, HTPC, Apple, Xbox360, Wii, PS3 With Removable Battery - BlackWell I must say that this keyboard is great it fits well in the hand and is very responsive. The placement of the touchpad is spot on, you can navigate and type very easily, the raised key are easy to push. The unit it comes with a usb cord wich is used for charging only & a usb bluetooth dongle that you connect to your pc or gaming device which lets you use the keyboard wirelessly (bluetooth that is) and it stores nicely inside the united for travel and storage. If you have a bluetooth receiver already you can just pair the keyboard with your existing bluetooth receiver. It does not come with any driver software is pretty much plug and play. It is extremely lightweight and it has backlight button ( wich has white lighted keys ). The function key is cleverly done it gives some keys alternate functions but for those who are curious you set the dpi by holding the FN key while pressing and holding space bar and slide your finger along the touch pad to set the dpi. and when in a window to use the scroll feature hold the FN key and move your finger up or down the verticle orange lines on the touch pad. I think for the money if you need a keyboard that has all the features of a full keyboard and a mouse this is.

Note: I wrote (almost) the entire Review without looking at the screen, for truer results.

Shift: there's only one, there'ss lots of keys on the left that require the occasinal Shift.

LEDs: Power On, i know, stop wasting power. also, Kepress/Touchpad activation lights. i know, i pressed it, stop wasting power.

Backlight, doesn't seem to want to turn off, unless i power off the entire thing. Otherwise nicelly lit.

90degree Touchpad rotation: am i missing somethin obvious here, or did i find the only without it, again? [oh, there's a button for that]

Typing: that left-only Shift is getting old already. As to how i am actually typing.. i'll let you know when i finally read the screen.

Keypresses: nice, comfortable, audible click, feels most like smartfhone.

Have to grow accustomed to the placement of '-,=,/,?,\' keys, will adapt.

Dual 'Ctrl", nice, appreciated for those that 'Ctrl+z\x\c\v\b' often-enough.

Media keys: not thrilled that they are a 'Fn' of the 'F#' keys. As i never ask for Help, i would prefer that key automatically Mute, instead.

Backlight: now, doesn't work when i press the key, investigating.. hmm, yep, broke, rebooting keyboard.. nope, Fail.

Now, i have no way to find 'Play/Pause' in the dark, it reaally should have a nub on it, tactile input

Tactile input: raised bar on 'J' and 'F' keys, have to really.. nope, can't feel them.

Not that it reaally matters, but, what if i, for some unlikely reason, needed "F12'? i'll let that one pass.

'Win" key, thanks, appreciated.

Bluetooth button, i suspect i shall inadvertently tap that when aiming for 'Esc', which is always the the top-left button on keybards, muscle memory.

Having to think, hard, abuot finding the '-' key, brain seems to think it, alongside '+' key, belong on the right, curious.

At this point, it seems worthy of memtioning that, no, i didn't read the instructions. Odds are, i'm doing it wrong.

'Alt-F4' easy enough with two 'Alt" keys, appreciated.

Still Really Wishing There Was A Right-Shift key.. Especiallyy For This Sentence.

Touchpad: double-tap is unreliable, at best. Safer (less frustating) to press the mouse button instead. Accurate enough for text-selection, bravo, important.

I know it's just a dinky little LED, but, i can feel the battery draining, unnecessarily. Also, it is the same color as my smartfhone msg-received light, i keep thinking i have friends..

Balance: yes, nicely done. A little heavier on the right (dongle'll do it) but, imperceptibly so, just nitpicking.

Handshake: the top corners are nicely nuzzled in to the second joint of my pointer-fingers, comfortable, familiar to smartfhones.

Space-bar: took no effort to adapt to its placement. i think, i still haven't looked at the screen..

No 'Home' or 'End" keys, Fail.

Feel: solid, sturdy, sleek not slippery.

LEDs: yea, starting to annoy..

I need to get used to pointing from the middle. i don't suspect it will take long to adjust.

Backlight: yep, broke, tried everything.. dang. Comes on with power-On, then goes away.

Dongle: no indication of function, bluetooth logo, nothing. Don't throw it in with the other dongles, it'll get lost.

Battery: labwl is peeling, aftermarket rebranding, i suspect.

D-Pad: narrow edges to press upon, requires aim. Slippery, especially to the thumbnails. Internet button in the middle is presumptious. Re-programmable?

Summary decisions:

* Needs right-shift.

* Needs 'Home/End' keys, for those of us that pre-date the mouse and use hotkeys to do.. everything.

* Media Keys: should be Primary function, the 'F#'s are used less than Media keys, i would expect that to be known given this keyboard says "Design for HTPC"..

* The numbers-row is backwards from all the other keys with alteernates. Point in fact, Media Keys go even another direction, . They can't decide if Primary key label belongs in the bottom-left, bottom-right or top-left of the key, curious..

* LEDs: A battery-saving feature of 'off', please.

* Touchpad: good, accurate, adjustable DPI, bonus, appreciated.

* Better than Anker OrientEX Mini Bluetooth Handheld Keyboard with Multi-Touchpad / Laser Pointer for Google Nexus 7 / Google Android TV /iPhone 4 4S 3GS 3G / iPad (1-3) / Samsung Galaxy S S2 S3 / HTPC / PC / Iphone / Android 3.0 Tablet / Mac OS X

* Better than iPazzPort 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Fly Air Mouse Keyboard with IR Remote

* Way better than Koolertron 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Air Fly Mouse/Keyboard

I shuld have lked sner, the 'O' key des nt wrk at all. Had to go back and add them.. Fail, Returmimg. Quality-control issues.

Will not deter me from trying it again...

All keys work, including Backlight. Good.

Still needs right-Shift. Suggestions for remapping 'AltGr' key, anyone?

Intention: replacing computer keyboard and mouse. I have carpal-tunnel syndrome from years of system adminsitration. I can type/point all day with my thumbs, no problem.

This mini keyboard is the contender, not perfect, close. I've tried four different models.. so far. Bought two of these, one to spare. Recommended.

It has been great! I have a Lenova Yoga that I primarily use with the keyboard facing the desk. This device is great when I want more than the on-screen keyboard but don't want to flip the whole keyboard out.

It is also great for when my computer is across the room wired to someone's TV.

the good:

Nice feel to the buttons and excellent size for HTPC use.

Media buttons are a good for controlling music

the bad:

note: I am comparing this against my experience with the same device, only with wireless USB connectivity, not Bluetooth.

rather than the soft amber back light behind the keys, it is a bright white not as nice in low-light conditions.

the range is *terrible*. The USB version tracked fine from my dining room and kitchen, even through a wall. This one sputters from the couch less than 10 feet away.

no bluetooth dongle! I had to buy a separate one. the USB version has a dongle that stores in the device itself.

summary:

You wouldn't think that the less attractive keyboard light would matter, but it is a bummer, The terrible range however makes this device essentially useless.

I got the blue tooth version with the idea that it would have better coverage. I tried the connection with 3 different computers and it would link maybe one out of ten times and not reliably. I returned the unit (thanks Amazon) and bought the wireless USB version of same keyboard (under different brand) and it worked flawlessly.

I cannot say if my experience is typical, but again, based on my personal experience I would select the wireless over the blue tooth version. YMMV.

MEElectronics Dual-Purpose Micro-Knit Technology Capacitive Stylus and Fine Rollerball Ink Pen Pack of 2
  • Featuring a soft, micro-knit technology capacitive fiber tip for a superior writing experience than a regular rubber/sponge tip, the stylus works on all capacitive touch screen devices like the Apple iPad

  • Simply uncap the other end to reveal the elegant fine rollerball ink pen
  • Universal stylus for all touchscreen capacitive ebooks, tablets, smartphones, cellphones and mobile devices
  • Innovative dual stylus rollerball ink pen that is universal for all touchscreen capacitive ebooks and tablets including the New Apple iPad 3, etc.

I love my onyx microball but I want a pen with a stylus so I found this that says its a fine microball. The pens themselves seem to be really good quality and the stylus is really nice as described. But the pen is NOT a fine microball, its nothing but a standard bic style ballpoint pen.

I ordered these for school use. So far they seem to be great with our iPads. I do like having a pen on one end so it is always handy. I have only been using these for a couple of weeks but so far I like them. The pen is slim and writes well. The stylus works great. I will have to check back later to see how they hold up.

Iomega Storcenter IX2-200 NAS 6TB (2 x 3TB) 2-bay Cloud Edition 34788

Iomega Storcenter IX2-200 NAS 6TB 2-bay Cloud Edition 34788
  • Iomega corporation 34788 6TB STORCENTER IX2-200 2 X 3TB

This StorCenter is an interesting device for those looking to enter the world of NAS, but certainly will disappoint advanced users: some features simply don't work as expected.

From the physical point of view, the StorCenter ix2 is quite compact, and resembles a small surge protector fits in any corner. Not the quietest: the coling fan breaks the office's silence, and the internal disks also clacks when accessed not much to bother. What really worries me is the temperature it operates: always above 55°C, too hot to handle. With all this heat, my data would be safe?

Throughput is a strong point: operating in Gigabit Ethernet, I was able to read/write data at 21MB/s rate, similar to those obtained using a local disk. However, speed relies on a Gigabit network: you may need to change router, network cards and cables to escape the 100Mbps Fast Ethernet limit, today's standard in most home and office.

In software, StorCenter has its main weakness: first of all, firmware sits on its internal discs. It takes time to load, and any failure of the disks makes it unusable. Same logic applies to a possible capacity expansion: if you want to replace the original disks with larger capacity ones, say your StorCenter goodbye unless if you transport the firmware from original disk to the new ones, using one of those cryptic and endless tutorials available on the Internet.

The StorCenter offers a huge list of interesting features, but all of them are poorly implemented, frustrating most demanding users. Some promises that StorCenter ix2-200 don't deliver:

DLNA Media server: after successfully setting media folders, its scan was done incompletely. The music and photos don't appear on items list, there's no log of problems encountered during the scanning process. Couldn't see any photos or music on DLNA devices nor on the computer or television;

SNMP monitoring: the StorCenter's SNMPv3 implementation is NOT documented there are no details of monitorable variables and events, and Iomega software doesn't allow to monitor device status via SNMP. In other words, SNMPv3 is a feature that Iomega says thatexist, but no one not even the product support knows how to use it;

UPS monitoring: StorCenter has UPS USB monitoring, and ok, it works. The problem is that other network devices are not warned when the UPS is about to shut down. StorCenter takes possession of the UPS signal, and don't propagate it to the network. It may even be possible to obtain this information via StorCenter's SNMP, but how cam I do this? There's no SNMP documentation!

Torrent and P2P networks: this is an almost unusable feature. You can't see the percentage of completed downloads, you can't get the list of connected peers, there's no DHT support, there's no secure Torrent connections (preventing Torrent detection by ISPs), there's no way to prioritize downloads, there's no way to inhibit some unwanted file downloads... In short, if you expect a simple and powerful interface like uTorrent on StorCenter firmware, forget about it.

Remote Access Tools: StorCenter's web interface is heavy and loads slowly manage it using 3G connections requires patience. The file management tool is inexplicably poor: there's only a view/explore tool available, where you can just download and upload files, delete files and create folders you can't perform basic tasks such as renaming files and folders or moving/copying files between folders.

Management Tools: it's hard to believe that you can't defragment volumes, check the discs health after accidental or unscheduled shutdowns, manage how many and which users are currently connected, where they come from (if they are local or remote connections), its active network connections, the read/write activity per task or user (the discs spin, spin and you don't know who is doing what), among others. You are blind all the time.

Copy Jobs: if you have a NTFS-compressed USB drive and want to copy data from it using firmware copyjob feature, be assured that your target files will be corrupted: the StorCenter doesn't make decompression during copy, and data recorded in its internal storage will be unusable. When the source data comes from compressed NTFS discs, copy them always from a Windows computer file sharing, and never, ever, by using the copyjob.

Well, there are many more serious flaws in the StorCenter's software to tell, but I think they're only suitable for more advanced users. If you want a NAS device to backup your files, easy to use and fast read/write speeds, buy it, worth the price. But if you, like me, want to go deeper into NAS world and need good, efficient and complete firmware solution, spend a little more and find a more bulky equipment.

I had very high hopes for this device. I've had good luck with Iomega products in the past, but this has turned out to be one of the worst purchases I've made in a long time. The sad thing is that I read reviews of this that were not good for many of the same reasons Im going to talk about. But I mistakenly thought that those bad reviews were all by people who didn't know what they were doing. I was wrong.

Everything about this looks good on paper, and when you open the box it looks and feels well made. The problems start when you want it to do what you bought it for.

This is, without a doubt, both the slowest and the noisiest hard drive I've ever owned. Did you like the 80's? Well, then you'll be presently surprised when you discover that this transfers data at the speed of an old CD-Rom. I mean a really old CD-Rom.

And the noise. I have no idea what this thing is doing, but it runs constantly. All day. All night. And it sounds like you hear every bit being written. I have set it to have the drives spin down after 30 minutes of inactivity. It still runs. It runs when every device in the house is off. It literally runs 24/7/365. If you are planning on putting this in your bedroom, or within 50 feet of your bedroom say goodbye to any chance of getting a full nights sleep.

And because of this insane problem, again what it could possibly be doing is beyond me, I have no faith whatsoever that this is a reliable product. The running/noise problem is not only annoying, but as far as Im concerned this thing is running as fast as it can towards a catastrophic drive failure.

I will never buy another drive from Iomega. A company that puts out a product this flawed will not be supported by me.

Summary:

A seemingly simple implementation became quite buggy, with a frighteningly hot device, that was noisy with loud grinding noises, incapable of accepting an external USB drive without locking up, and the proprietary connecting software was incapable of connecting to the device.

System configurations tested:

Windows 7 64 bit; Windows 7 32 bit; connected to a U-Verse router; several different external USB hard drives, including USB powered and AC powered; Chrome, Firefox, and IE browsers; latest versions of Iomega Storage Manager and firmware; appropriate port forwarded.

Review:

The Iomega ix2-200 4TB seemed promising, with two solid hard drives, a mostly metal case, USB connection, actual buttons on the device, and a simple interface. However, upon receiving the device, I was unable to access the drive from the network. After switching from the included cable to one that I have owned for almost a decade that doesn't even have prongs to hold it in place anymore, the ix2 connected right up.

Initially, it went okay, with setting up the device going smoothly, access via Windows Explorer occurring quickly with the Iomega Storage Manager mapping the various shares directly. The registering of the Cloud went quickly as well.

Upon connecting USB hard drives, however, the device would lock up and become unresponsive to the front panel buttons, including not being able to turn off by pressing and holding the button. Obviously, then, the 'QuikTransfer' function flatly failed. I tried three other drives, one AC powered and two USB powered, and all resulted in it locking up eventually. Occasionally, it would recognize a drive long enough to search it via the web interface or Windows Explorer, but without fail it would revert to becoming completely unresponsive to anything except pinging (which was just fine for some reason), but would not respond to its own buttons, the web interface, or Windows Explorer. The only option, after leaving it sit for a day incase it was unresponsive because it was rebuilding data or something, was to unplug it. I had to do this several times.

Although the Cloud idea sounds promising, the needing to use the Iomega Storage Manager is a little frustrating, but free and more or less expected. The other option that they advertise requires a subscription after the first year. However, the ix2 only responded outside of my network once, and would not connect again, whether I reinstalled the software, restarted my computer, or even wiped the entire device clean. No luck.

I also had to completely reconfigure Windows' networking settings to get it to access the device. No matter what configuration of user names and passwords I entered, whether the ix2 security was enabled or not, I could not access them through the Network Places; if the drives were already mapped it would usually still connect to those, as well as the web interface. Poor implementation of security compatibility in my opinion. Sometimes, even if the ix2 drives were mapped, they would stop being responsive unless I went into the web interface and logged in. The Storage Manager software was no help, and Windows credentials were useless.

The Storage Manager software was also very perplexing. It would state the device was unavailable, then I would force it to find it; other times it would say the Cloud Service tab was simply 'Disabled' in the middle of the screen; other times it would try to connect and ask me for credentials that I had saved, despite the fact that the downloaded software was specifically from the invitation I sent myself from the cloud, which has a custom access code immediately available to it; finally, it would give me an XML-RPC error that was nowhere to be found on Iomega's site. Before I gave up, it changed the icon from an ix2 to some strange squiggle and a blob... No useful functionality.

The highest temperature I recorded was 132 F, and the fan status still said 0 RPM. The device was obviously warm to the touch externally.

The Twonky media server configured itself despite not installing it, which is quite disturbing.

After trying lots of iterations of troubleshooting (I have seven pages of paragraphs and small screen snip-its describing a number of steps I took to see if it was my computer, my set up, my USB drives, etc...), I did the secure overwriting of data, which took approximately 27 hours to complete, packed it up and sent it back.

Be aware that the customer service is limited to week day hours, and after hours or after the warranty expires you have to pay them $50 to even ask about your device. There is a user forum, that I recommend potential buyers view to see the other potential problems awaiting you with this device, that Iomega staff occasionally will respond to, but there is no email correspondence that I could find. The Iomega responses on the forum are few and far between, and seemed to often simply ask basic troubleshooting questions rather than proactively offering suggestions under various scenarios (eg: rather than asking "Does your work use a proxy?" they should state potential ways to work around this limitation, or declare that your device will not work through the proxy, instead of wasting time with a feudal back-and-forth in a forum).

Take home message:

It seems that if all I wanted it for was in-network storage, without any use of the 'QuikTransfer' it seems like it might be a decent device. However, I paid for a 'Personal Cloud' with USB transferring capability, and this was not it.

When I read the characteristics of this product, I thought it would be great.

The first months, everything worked ok. Files and music there was very comfortable.

But then, when I requested more from the unit, I started to see its performance.

Slow... Really slow! Not a great unit for video.

And failures! I already had one hdd failure. I got a hdd replacement (The customer service agent was good. The problem is that I had to wait more than 4 weeks for the disk replacement. Maybe because of problems with argentinian customs... But they didn't had spare discs here for this situation... That's bad).

Now I have a second failure... Let's see. That's not a good thing for a device where you have so much valuable things!

I have been quite pleased with this item it works as advertised, except I haven't yet been able to set it up for remote access (though this may be something to do with my PC setup).

One cirticism is that the disc drives are very noisy when reading/writing. Much noisier than any other drive in the house. I'm not sure if this is a function of the size of the drives, but you would definitely have to think about where you put the Storcenter.

Vera Bradley Mini Laptop Case Bag

Vera Bradley Mini Laptop Case in Ellie BlueWow this was better than I expected. I collect Vera so I wasn't worried about the quality. I did wonder about the sturdiness. It is extremely sturdy. With the handy Velcro bars, I can easily secure my iPad 2. I even have mine in a hard cover for the back of it and it all fits. My VB clutch wallet fits in one pocket and my iPhone and cords fit in another. I put my stylus in the inside. I can also carry my portable stand if I need too. I used the case today as a purse when I went grocery shopping. Could easily keep the case partially open so I could see my grocery list on iPad. Still room for wallet, keys and sunglasses.

This mini laptop case was adorable. I loved the print. I liked that it is actually a hard case wrapped in the Vera Bradley fabric. I had to send it back though because it was just barely too small for the Samsung Chromebook I purchased it for. Got a Vera Bradley laptop backpack instead.

Palm Zire m150 Handheld PDA

Palm Zire m150 Handheld PDA
  • Dimensions (WxDxH):7.4 cm x 1.6 cm x 11.2 cm
  • Processor:Motorola MC68EZ328 16 MHz
  • Touch-screen Palm OS

I bought my first Zire m150 7 years ago, and it still works fine. I use 3 laptops, and run the palm software on them all, and use the handheld to synchronize all three. My newest laptop ran Windows 7 at 64 bits, and I couldn't run the Palm software until I changed it to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. My datebook and address book are so useful to me that I wanted to do this! Committed to using the Zire for a few more years, I decided I needed a backup. Bought one that was new in the unopened plastic box, but it was DOA because of a dead battery. Had my tech friend put a new battery in (needed to solder the wires), and now I have two identical handhelds.

In should be obvious that I am clinging to some older technology that I am fond of. Some day I will get an Iphone (I use a tracphone now and buy minutes once a yearmy phone costs me about $8 a month!) and an Apple laptop and keep all this PDA date in the cloud and synch wirelessly between the devices, but I don't plan to do that for a few years. For now, my inexpensive laptops, inexpensive cell phones, and inexpensive Zire PDA are fill my needs just fine, and I'm saving some bucks.

I love my Palm Zire....I know that these days, with cell phones that have similar capabilities, the Palm Zire is being used less and less, but I don't like clogging up my phone with addresses and numbers that I don't use often. It is very useful to keep information of family and friends who live out of the country and that you don't have to contact that often without using the memory of my cell phone.

BoxWave Capacitive LG Mystique Styra (Jet Black)

BoxWave Capacitive LG Mystique Styra
  • Works on all capacitive touch screens
  • Integrated and capped pen, perfect for taking paper notes
  • Conveniently designed in pen form, perfect for carrying around
  • Durable construction
  • Perfect for cold days when you don't want to remove your gloves

Might be a little bit pricier than the others styluses, but it works great and the pen writes really well. Its also pretty solid and has a nice bit of weight to it so it doesn't feel like you're writing with some light weight cheap pen. It's also about a quarter inch longer than the Targus stylus and I think it's more slick too. Definitely worth it and a must have if you like drawing apps or if you want to keep your screen clean and free of dirty fingerprints.

Adaptor, Blue Tooth, Epson

Adaptor, Blue Tooth, EpsonThis item is listed as compatible with an Epson R300m printer but it is NOT. Per the Epson manual, part no. C12C824142 is required; the item listed for sale is part no. C12C824383. The latter does not bend as the one photo shows; the one that shows the adapter with a flip end is the 4142 but what is being sold is the 4383 which does not possess a flip end. I purchased the 4383 based on a web search and didn't note carefully the difference in part numbers. Even searching for the 4142 brings you to the 4383 which is somewhat deceptive unless you've researched the proper part no. for the R300M since the 4383 description says it is compatible.

I was so excited to finally get my bluetooth adapter to enable me to print wirelessly to my epson Picture Mate. Boy was I disappointed! It takes 20 MINUTES to print a single picture compared to less than 2 minutes with the USB cable. I have a brand new Dell laptop that has plenty of memory and RAM, so that is not the issue as the owners manuel suggests. I would NOT recommend this product. I am sending it back and will say goodbye to wireless photo printing.

I completely disagree with previous comments. I have an Epson R320 Printer and a relatively new notebook. When I found out Epson phased out this printer and adapter, I was happy to still find one available. It's a great printer with lots of life in it and now that its wireless it will be great for a lot longer. I experience NO DELAY when sending file/images to print, it's about a 10 second pause or less, which is about the same when using my USB. Price is great other sites listed for $80+ for same adapter.

I needed a means to copy stuff to my Nokia 5100 GSM phone, which has an infrared adapter. this item fits the bill perfectly. No drivers required for Windows XP. It even comes with a 6-inch USB extension cable in case your usb ports are at the back of your PC case.

I have never had any problems with it and I have owned it for over a year (as of Dec 2005). It is only USB 1.1 compatible. but given the transfer rate of an infrared device is only 1Mbps (compared to USB 1.1's 12Mbps) it is no issue. I recommend it. It's the cheapest infrared adapter you'll get on amazon.com anyway.

I got this to allow me to download diving profiles from my UWATEC computer to my desktop and laptop.

It works well, which is more than I could say for the other ones I tried. My dive computer is very picky, and this adapter links up nicely.

Installing it was easy too.

Great product. Good value. Have used this many times already and have not experienced any problems yet. I use it to download Polar heart rate monitor information. It was cheaper than buying the Polar IrDA.

I bought this IrDA based on a review from a scuba diving website. It works as an alternative for the $100 model that Uwatec/ScubaPro offers for their Aladdin three gauge computer console. It installed quickly and easily on my computer. I'm not the most computer savvy person, but still could get this installed and working correctly. This is worth the money to download dives from the Uwatec/ScubaPro computer.

Navitech Black Executive Premium Leather Flip Carry Case With Stand & Stylus Holder & Anti-glare Dual Layered Screen Protector / Guard For The HTC EVO View 4G & HTC Flyer 7 Inch Android PC Tablet Device 16GB 32GB 64GB 3G & WiFiI ordered this case for my son, who had done his research on cases for his HTC Flyer. We expected to receive the one pictured, with the stylus holder INSIDE the case. Instead ours had the holder on the outside edge, which doesn't protect the stylus and can scratch the tablet.

Navi-tech was great in their response to our email requesting to either get the one we thought we ordered or return it. Unfortunately, they no longer had the one with the stylus holder inside in black, but could send us the brown one. My son hated the brown color, but was willing to accept it as a replacement. We would not have to pay for shipping, either to return the black one or receive the brown one.

Unfortunately, the brown one is not only uglier in person (it's a very light, orange-y brown), but it was not of good quality. Because the company was so helpful, and really wanted to make us happy, my son decided he will use the black one even though it is not exactly as he expected or wanted.

Customer service was great, the product was less so, therefore the mixed review. We would certainly do business again with Navi-tech, but would be more diligent in researching the product and reading reviews.

looks ok, quality is average but the flyer got several stains from the black leather that could not be removed it.

"The case looks much better than it actually is in the pictures -especially the transparent sheet which I thought would be a solid clear sheet but instead it is a saran sheet which is not easy to apply without getting those annoying air bubbles... Try to see a live one before choosing... "
