First, let me say that this case will not appeal to every iPad owner. If you want a thin case that maintains the lightweight and thin feel of the iPad 2, then this case is probably not for you. But, if you want a high-quality, leather case worthy of a professional or executive--and there are many to choose from--and a case that provides excellent protection for your iPad 2, it's hard to imagine you could make a better choice than the Piel Frama Premium Leather Case. I paid $119 for mine through Cases.com at Amazon.

I had previously bought a Piel Frama case for my Amazon Kindle and was highly impressed with it. When I learned Piel Frama made a leather case for the iPad 2, I bought it without hesitation, and I have not been disappointed.

This is a full leather, front and back cover case for the iPad 2. It provides protection all around, and has cutouts for the speaker opening and all switches, sensors and connections. Additionally, it includes the magnets that take advantage of Apple's "smart cover" feature, bringing your iPad 2 in and out of sleep mode when the cover is opened.

What makes this leather case so special, even when there are other cases out there at lower cost? Here are my highlights:

1. Soft leather. The leather is very soft and feels rich. Some leather cases feel hard and almost plastic-like.

2. Padding. The cover is lightly padded, which gives the case a nice feel when you're holding it.

3. Fine, black stitching. For the life of me, I don't understand why some leather cases use white stitching, which makes them look cheap. The Piel Frama case has tight stitching that matches the color of the cover. (I bought a black case, but Piel Frama offers the same case in many colors.)

4. Good fit. All around, the case fits the iPad 2 very well. Cutouts are centered above the switch or connector they accomodate, and the framing is uniform around the screen of the iPad 2.

I have been using the case for about a month and have had zero problems. The smart cover feature works every time. The camera is not blocked by the case's cutout. It folds back completely for a comfortable fit while using the iPad 2.

The one thing I will point out (and this is not important to me, but might be to others), the case does not include a "flap" to hold it in an inclined position for those who might want to attempt touch typing on the keyboard. It can be folded in that position, but I could see that extended use would tend to push it out of position. (I think it's too cumbersome to touch-type on the iPad 2 anyway.)

So, for an executive-level leather case with a rich feel and super protection for your valuable iPad 2, buy the Piel Frama Premium Leather Case with confidence.

It's leather so, it's tough, but thin leather, so it doesn't add appreciable bulk.

The fit is very precious with cut-outs for the front screen, mic, temperature sensor, speaker, etc. in all the right places. (The one exception is the camera/LED flash cut-out, which can block the camera/LED a little when shifted. The hole could probably have been cut a little larger for slack.)

Thick clear plastic (vinyl?) protects the inside screen and keypad. Although it's optically transparent, I have to press the keys a little firmer now. The Ravine keypad without the plastic cover was still operable while wearing a (thin) glove but with the plastic cover it frequently registered my presses incorrectly.

The belt clip is a permanently attached part of the holster/case and will stay firmly at one of the 5 notched positions (180 degree range). The clip opening is such that it will slide easily over the thickness of pants or belt, but the opening will require a little stretching to get it over the thickness of both.) The clip itself feels like spring steel, hopefully durability won't be a long term issue (I've only used it a month at time of this writing.)

I had also considered the Ravine swivel belt clip but read that the phone is easily dislodged. I have yet to drop my Ravine off of my belt/pants with this fitted case.

I got this for my son's ipad 2 and at first, it seemed to fit, but after using it for a couple of days I noticed he wasn't using it. When asked, he told me it was easier to use his iPad without it. The new Zire Palm 21 is essentially an updated version of the original Zire, itself an update of the lowly m100, with the following changes:

* 8MB of Ram (still not upgradeable) vs. hobbled 2MB.

* A better battery.

* A slightly better processor. (This is largely irrelevant, because most Palm functions are nearly instantaneous anyway).

All of the other limitations of the original Zire still exist, chief among them the small, dim dark-grey on light-grey (so very 1979) screen and the utter lack of expandability.

Believe me, screen size matters when you are pointing and clicking on a tiny keyboard on your Palm. This is by far the smallest, dimmest screen you can buy.

The 8MB allows for only relatively basic address and scheduling functions, but is a big improvement from 2MB.

It's intended to be a starter model with limitations that will have you thirsting to upgrade, and often comes free with new computers.

The three PALM programs that I consider essential would come close to overwhelming this puppy. They are: Mapopolis (a mapping program from Mapopopolis.com with keyword-searchable street maps), Avantgo (an online news service that downloads articles to your palm) and Vindigo (a restaurant, movie and city guide).

To me, this model is only for those misguided and poor folks who would have bought the now-discontinued original Zire model but want 8MB. There are far better models out there for only a few more bucks. You can find some of the excellent Handspring Visor or Palm's own Vx/m500/m515 models used for far cheaper, which feature larger, brighter grey screens and 8 MB. Sony's B/W CLIE line of Palm OS handhelds are also better, for a few more bucks.

If you can afford it, I'd definitely trade up to the Tungsten E -which features 32MB, a brilliant hi-res color screen, expandability, MP3 and a slick form factor. It costs twice as much and is worth every penny.

Here's a basic PALM product guide:

Zire/Zire 21/Palm m100: Bottom of the line. Designed to suck you in but leave you wanting more. Think of this as the Chevy Chevette of Palms. Plagued by skimpy, dim screens.

Palm m505: Discontinued color model features horrible washed out color screen. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Palm TUNGSTEN TE: The new standard for low-priced, high-value color palms. Features 320x320 brilliant screen, 32MB Ram, MP3 capability with headphone jack, high quality battery and slick, shirt-pocketable form factor.

Palm Zire 71: Excellent, but expensive model features a low-res digital camera that is Okay only for small web page photos or email.

Tungsten T2: Expensive model features drop down graffiti screen. Not worth the extra cash over the TE, unless you need/want Bluetooth.

Tungsten T3: Longer, 320x480 screen. Otherwise, similar to T2. Expensive.

For competitors, check out the Handspring Treo models, which feature thumbpads and a small form factor (some with phones).

But I've heard Sony's customer service is weak compared to Palm's easy-as-pie returns. These things do break from time to time, so keep that in mind.

Also compare to PocketPCs, which have started to come down into the two-hundred smacker price range, but still can't beat Palm's small form factor and ease of use...

If you haven't bought a Palm yet, now's a great time to try it. It's basically an extension and backup for your brain, and who doesn't need that?

the zire 21 will face competition from sony's clié SJ20. the sony has a better monochrome display, 16MB of RAM, and a memory stick slot. but the sony is also more expensive. between the two, i'd go with the zire 21 myself.

if you have extra cash and want more capabilities, consider palm's tungsten E. it has a color, hi-res screen, a SD slot, MP3 and multimedia support, and a much better software bundle.

I purchased this Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as a christmas gift for my wife. This is not the most advanced, or feature-rich PDA on the market, but I wouldn't buy an HP iPAQ 5555 to my wife just because it's better.

My wife is uninitiaded in the PDA arena, and I couldn't overwhelm her with dozens of features she, as a newbie would never use. The Zire 21 has all the basic capabilities for someone to get organized; Address Book, Calendar, Notes, you can even jot down handwritten notes using the Zire as a paper notepad. It's small, thin, light, fits perfectly almost anywhere and it does the job, period. Another plus is the internal battery, no need to buy AAAs or AAs anymore, there's a battery charger included and it only takes 2-3 hours to recharge completely.

A CD is also included; it has the Palm Desktop software and the necessary drivers for the PC (or Mac) operating system to recognize the palm when you connect it using the USB cable. This software allows you to:

1Enter the data on the PC instead of the PDA.

2Transfer data between the PC and the PDA and synchronize both

3It makes your PC act as a backup repository for your data. If for some reason your Palm data is erased, you may recover by re-sycnhronizing with the PC data.

4It allows you to install 3rd party software that you download from the Internet.

You don't need to have a PC or Mac to use the Zire, but it is strongly recommended to have one.

I think the Palm Zire has the best value for the price, it's simple to operate and it looks nice (and this sentence rhymes).

1. Still no backlight on screen (uesless in dark or medium light).

2. Screen is B&W and only 160x160 pixels, again the worst you will find on a 2003 handheld.

6. Processor & OS are new but rest of hardware is pathetic, new OS is not put to any use.

With Tungsten E selling for well below 199 mark, I would strongly recommend getting T|E instead of Zire 21. You will get so much for a few more $$. Or you might as well get original Zire for half the cost. Zire 21 is good only as a gift to your mother-in-law, not recommended for personal use.

I gave my hardly used Sony Clie T615C to my fiancée and was using my old Palm III until I bought the Zire 21. I realized after owning a Palm III, Handspring Visor, Palm Vx, Sony Clie T615C, that all I really need a PDA for is addresses, notes, and scheduling. I don't need a camera, mp3 player, video player, web browser, etc. So the Zire 21's features and even lack of, were a good match for my needs, especially at the $99 price point.

True, the display is black and white and the 160x160 resolution is inferior to a B&W Clie. But what does that really mean? I have NO problems reading text on the display. It is infinitely better than my old Palm III's screen. The only major drawback to the screen is the lack of a backlit option. Impossible to see in the dark or dimly lit room.

Considering I'm only storing addresses, notes and appointments, 8MB is PLENTY with room for a few extra applications and games. No expansion possibilty however.

The lack of color display vastly improves the battery life of the built-in lithium ion battery. I should be able to go nearly a month or more on a full charge. My color Clie couldn't go an entire week. The USB hotsync cable also acts as a trickle charger. My only complaint here is I wish they would've figured out a way to put the charging cable and hotsync cable into a single cable. Because of the lack of a cradle, I have to deal with two separate cables. However, this is a benefit for traveling. I used to have to take my Clie's cradle and giant power brick with me on trips.

I have not had any of the same problems described by other reviewers regarding random resets, as of yet. And the 90 day warranty is pretty skimpy for an electronics product and reminds me of Sony. It'd be nice if they would stand behind their products, even if it is their entry-level product. Still, the Zire 21 is a very elegant and simple PDA and an excellent choice for those who are looking for a basic Palm powered device. With the upgraded memory, OS and processor, it is much more attractive than the original Zire at the same price point.

I will make this short and sweet. I have bought 3 of these things. The first one didn't work. I returned it after being on the phone with the Amped Wireless people, and my internet service provider (Surewest Broadband), and having a service technician come out and look at it. They all guessed that the unit was faulty/bad, so I returned it and ordered a replacement. The second one worked (go figure). I recently ordered a third one, because I wanted to add an access point to another room. The reason I wanted THESE particular wireless repeaters, is because they ALSO have Ethernet ports. That allows older devices (like 1st and 2nd generation blu-ray players) that are capable of going online only with a wired connection, to still work.

The 3rd one didn't work either, and, as an added bonus -it knocked my 2nd one (which had been working up to that point) offline, and I couldn't get it back online after that (must have been a fluke that I got it connected at all in the first place). The symptoms for the units not working are their inability to STAY connected to the network. They will connect, and then disconnect, over and over again. After the 3rd one KO'd the 2nd one, I called Amped and tried to get help. I left a message because it was after hours. Days later, I was tired of waiting for them to call me back, so I called my ISP. We tried *EVERYTHING* to get them working (three cheers for Surewest, by the way, their 24x7 tech support was AWESOME helping me work through this). After messing with what channel the router was on, and various other settings, we final stumbled across the fact that the security mode the router was set on, affected whether or not the Amped Wireless Repeater could connect or not. The repeater was able to connect, and stay connected, in WEP mode, and also WPA-mixed mode (but not the most current WPA2 mode).

Now that we have monkeyed with literally all of the settings, and rebooted everything and got them all to connect, I am happy. But -it was a *GIANT* hassle. I work with technology for a living, so I was fairly comfortable messing with these things. Additionally, my ISP locks me out of my router, and only they can mess with it remotely -which can be irritating, but also means a professional is changing the settings. I cannot even imagine how a non-technically inclined person would handle buying the repeater, and having their home network set on WPA2, and not being able to connect the repeater to the network. They certainly wouldn't know how to log into their router and change security level settings. I imagine, that, like me, they would send it back as broken. Amped, when I talked to them, never mentioned the security settings on the router. The only thing they wanted to try was port forwarding, which, when we did do so with the ISP, didn't solve the issue.

So, there you have it. When the device works, it is pretty awesome. But getting it to the point where it is working can be a chore. If yours works right out of the box with your network, then bump my review up to 4 stars. Otherwise, the 3 star rating stands.

While upgrading my home theater receiver I knew I had to finally bring a strong Internet connection into my media room, but pulling wire was going to be way too much hassle, so I went looking for a reliable wireless n bridge router. After researching a number of products from brands I was familiar with, I came across the Amped Wireless AV3000. I'd never heard of the company before, but the reviews were as strong (stronger) as any I'd read and the price was very reasonable, so I bought one. I'm so glad I did--it rocks! Set-up was easy, save for needing to access the unit by the IP address as the URL didn't work for me. This must be fairly common as it is clearly explained in the set up instructions. Once past that, setup was a breeze and I was up and running in no time. I now have my new receiver (Marantz SR7005--totally awesome!!!), my Oppo Blu-Ray and my Tivo HD all wired to the AV3000 and everything works great. In the past when streaming Netflicks through Tivo using the Tivo wireless g connection we had to suffer through numerous pauses during the first fifteen minutes or so as the movie downloaded, even at a less than ideal resolution. With the AV3000, even the highest res streaming flies without a hitch. Sweet. I highly recommend this bridge to anyone looking for a reasonable cost, effective solution to getting wired connections in locations that are hard to pull wire to. You won't regret it.

Not only does this function as an access point to my home wifi (my wireless adapter card kept constantly dropping connection), this will increase range to your home network by at least 70 feet. In my room (where the av connect is) i used to get3 bars, now i have full 5 bars of signal.

#1 reason why you should get this, Because I am using it mainly to connect my desktop, the ethernet connection made it i do not have to install any drivers or anything else, just plug in the ethernet cable and youre good to go! its as simple as that, upon first use, you set up the name, and whether or not to use the av connect as a wireless repeater.

You can use any basic cat5 or cat 6 cable because maximum speed for wireless N right now is 300mbps so a 1gbps cable is not needed.

Even though my router rarely has any problems, its nice to know that amped wireless will "self heal" the connection, meaning it will constantly try to reconnect if connection is ever dropped.

Keep note, it is much smaller than i expected it to be, probably half the size of a normal router, but it packs a punch!it can be mounted on a wall or has a stand so it can be vertical.

the 2 antannaes can be replaced with more powerful ones, but the until itself should already suffice, as the av connect amplifies its signals with a 100mw low noise amp i believe, ( i might be wrong on the exact wattage).

You can control how big of a wireless field the unit emits from max to none at all which is nice if you have a small house or if you dont want the feeling of 100% wifi signal pulsing through your body.

Ive had this for 2 weeks now and i love it, literally 0 issues whatsoever. sure its 100 bucks but id rather spend it knowing i dont have to worry about my internet connection again rather than having to frustrate over a crappy $50 that keeps dropping the connection in the middle of netflix.

Edit: I did receive a replacement unit and my problem was fixed. There are still several buggy things within the firmware and I wouldn't recommend this product.

This device does not do what it is marketed to do. With the latest firmware I am unable to stay connected to my access point for more than a day. (This was corrected by forcing my Wireless Router to a static channel, instead of the auto function).

This device also drops it's configuration on a regular basis. I then have to connect a laptop via Ethernet and re-configure the device again. This is very inconvenient since I don't normally have a PC connected to it, only AV equipment.

Their use of DNS forwarding in their interface is a horrible idea. Overall their web interface is pretty bad. I've worked on enterprise level networking gear for eleven years. Take my advice, small home and business users; stay far away from this product.

To my own discredit I misunderstood something about the product. This doesn't play into my review score but it should be helpful for others. The Amped Wireless makes the claim that the AV3000 can also act as a wireless repeater of sorts. For a proper repeater to work it would need two separate wireless cards. This device does not. It is using an embedded linux and just creates a software based AP which then routes you via the same wireless modem to your access point (which is providing internet access). The problem with this is that you now have two APs on the same channel in the same close proximity. If you know anything about wireless you know that you should have your APs on dissimilar channels. Because they wanted a good list of features without the added hardware cost you suffer. The latest firmware does offer the ability to disable this soft AP but it doesn't work.

Overall, I was disappointed by this product. I bought it to connect my home theater devices to the internet and to extend the range of my wifi network. It wasn't hard to set up although it was a little awkward to connect to a computer by lan. But the wireless connection to the router dropped numerous times over a period of five days (at least once per day), causing me to do a hard reset disconnect the power each time. I read other reviews which said that this kind of problem was caused by the security setting of WAP2 not managed well by the AV3000, so I reset my router to WAP only; didn't seem to make a difference.

I replaced with a Linksys WN2500RP which was a little cheaper and easier to set up; no dropped connections.

This hand-held scanning wand is quite nice to have if you want to scan a larger-than-normal book or tabloid-sized sheet music that won't fit on a standard-sized desktop scanner platen. The images are clear and readable and the included software will let you adjust and crop images to the desired size. However, it's shareware; so there's a time limit on how long you get to use all of the advertised features. Be careful though, any deviation from the desired scan path during scanning will result in minor distortion of the image.

Unfortunately, it's also a bit of a battery-hog. (Mine tends to go through a pair of batteries about every 60-80 pages.) It can be used without batteries by using it with the included feeder (which includes a wall-plug), but then you're stuck having to scan individual pages. (Also, I found that the feeder doesn't always send the pages through straight. YMMV.)

Summary: It's useful and I like it, but it takes a bit of practice to use and you'll go through a *LOT* of batteries while using it.

If you want to connect to the internet on your handspring at a good price, then this is your best bet. Although it may not be the fastest OR the thinnest in its class, it functions very well. Besides, on a tiny screen with limited content, you don't need to have a 56k modem for the connection to be fast. And, if you don't mind, carrying around an extra half-inch on your palm isn't that bad. You would be amazed with what you can do with a palm pilot hooked up to the internet. I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and still haven't figured out how to work it. The instruction manual is not very helpful. It doesn't even tell you how to go about getting mail and accessing the internet othere than saying you need "third party software" to do so. Well what else would one use a modem for? Shouldn't the software be included or at least suggestions of which to use? I downloaded Eudora Suite (free) and just can't figure this out. It should not be this difficult for an average person to use. I will continue to work with it but if I can't get it up and running soon I will return it. So far it's been a waste of money. I amn very disappointed.

I've had this stylus for a week now and it works great! It hasn't worn down or anything so far, and it writes really well! It also looks very stylish. Another thing that I love about it is that I don't have to press it really hard to the tablet (like I had to to with a couple of my last styluses) so my hands don't cramp up from extended use. I bought these screws because I lost the two that came with my iPhone 4 during disassembly. These screws worked, but one sheared while tightening. Also, the threads are not cut precisely, and the did not turn as freely as the OEM screws would.

Also, the metal that they are made from is of poor quality and is very brittle, so don't tighten them too much. They do get the job done, but try to find a higher quality screw if you can afford the extra dollar.

Overall, a nice product. Its no replacement for a tether table from Tether Tools. However its good for its price. It held my 15 inch HP laptop fairly sturdy on a manfrotto 055XProB tripod. You do need to be careful when moving the tripod even slightly. If the legs compress inwards at all, this will begin to slip. However, I would still suggest this for someone looking to do some initial tethering. I may still get a tether table at some point, but they are so much more money. This does the job for me for now.

Since this handy item seems to have no competition, the price can be outrageous and is. It works and is handy, but is way overpriced. For $25, I would give it Five Stars, but at this price I can only give it three. For those wondering how it works, the piece that goes over the top of the tripod and settles down on the legs snaps into the shelf, which is large enough to hold a 17" laptop. My 12" notebook is kind of lost on it, but it gives me extra room for more items. It is solid, thick, and heavy plastic.

I don't know why someone would say its not comparable to the Tether Tools table. I prefer the TriPad as it travels well, doesn't take up an extra tripod or light stand, is very secure, and has a cup holder..total win on the cup holder! I highly recommend it.

First off, let me say that the Tripad does what it claims, at least it did on the three video tripods I have. However:

The plastic that the Tripad is made of is brittle and easily brakes. Mine arrived with a semi-vital piece broke off. It more than likely was the result of the shipping company mishandling the box because it was poorly packed by Amazon. The parts that are susceptible to breaking can't be fixed with glue.

There is no easy way to transport the Tripad being that its two pieces. You must supply your own way to keep the two together, be it a padded bag "my suggestion since it brakes easy" or a bungie cord/clamp.

Being the only product of its kind on the market its no wonder that the Tripad costs so much. Some may say if it costs so much why did you buy it? At the time of purchase it was the only solution to my problem and I was willing to pay the price.

My suggestions to the manufacturer: 1) Use a strong plastic or improve the molding process. 2) Design it so that both pieces snap together in a way that protects the angled teeth during transport. 3) Provide the consumer a bag. 4) Set the price right.

Do these and your sales will be through the roof.

I love the retractable feature on this charger! I tend to tangle cords pretty easily with all the different electronics we all carry around these days, but this is one that I never have to deal with. Works well, no problems thus far.

I was worried that the spring mechanism used to retract the cable would be cheap or break easily but so far I have had no problems with that. I have noticed that the plastic is a bit cheap and poorly constructed at the phone jack end of the charger. I ended up wrapping scotch tape around it as a precaution.

All-in-all, it does what it was intended to do, and the cable retraction is a nice touch.

I've had mine for a month now and am relatively happy with it. easy to install. the material is good quality in my opinion doesn't feel cheap. i did find the technique on youtube to get it to stand in the other direction and works great.

the flaw that i am having with this is that it doesn't always shut off when the cover is closed like it is supposed to. sometimes when i close the cover, i can hear the 'click' the ipad makes when it goes to sleep,then a couple seconds later i hear another click, so i peek at it and it's on. i had originally turned my auto sleep off on the Ipad, because the cover is supposed to put it to sleep when closed...well, one morning the ipad battery was drained. obviously, the cover had not worked as intended and the ipad had to have been on all night.

i turned the auto sleep back on to 15 minutes so that if the cover doesn't do it's job to turn it off, at least it will shut off on it's own and battery won't get drained. i would rate this 5 stars, but since this feature doesn't work, it gets 4 from me.

Smart cover doesn't really work, magnet do not align correctly, sometimes it will put the ipad to sleep other times it doesn't, very annoying when it turns on the ipad when I close the cover.

It doesn't stand up well, IPAD keep falling back. Theres a fix for it on Youtube by folding teh cover the other way, but not a good fix.

To me, ION would make a perfect product just by having the hardback case without the smart-cover, then combine that with Apple smart cover.

I have been remodeling the main bedroom of the house and have a Samsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color waiting to go in. I also am using the entire South wall to house music home studio gear I have been compiling for quite some time. Pro Tools 9 Software which is a Digital Audio Workstation utilizes a split screen function so you can place your mixer full screen on one screen, and the recording console on the other. I run Windows Media Center PC in the other room which is my main entertainment experience, but since I am running the free over the air waves antennae on roof, getting the highest resolution possible due to Cisco-Linksys Media Center Extender with DVD with its up scaling built right in, I don't get a lot of movies, or should I say none at all. So rather than subscribe to Net Flix or whatever I decided to join Amazon Prime so I get 1000's of free movies to download and watch on the set plus unlimited free 2 day shipping.

What does this have to do with the Wireless Ultra-Mini? In a word, everything. When I am sitting at the console, or getting ready to record a track, I can use the Wireless Ultra-Mini (WUM) to key in a track. I don't have to race across the room and pick up my instrument. If I want to stop and do a retake, just hit the mini for complete control. I can create new tracks, redo old ones, everything a full blown keyboard can do and from across the room. The WUM is small enough to sit on the side of a music stand. Since I am viewing the recording controls on a 46 inch big screen as my PC monitor, across the room computing is a sweet option.

Also when I am in bed and want to watch a movie, I have the WUM sitting on a night stand not taking up much space. It's a Windows Media Center controller. I can conveniently surf the web on the big screen also is to pick up the TV remote and choose the PC input. I have HDMI output on the PC, and then from the bed the WUM acts like a full blown keyboard and Windows Media Center controller. If I am importing recorded TV into the bedroom Media Center PC right from the living room WMCPC I can control that from the WUM as well. So all of the options are open.

Ok so that is a few of many options that are opened up and made convenient from the WUM. Now about the function. It sits very comfortably in your hands. It has replaceable batteries and an on-off button on the back so you can preserve battery life when you are not using it. I have another unit like this that only has a built in rechargeable in it that you cannot access and that requires you to constantly recharge it which takes an overnight charging; so you could be stuck without a remote when you need it most. The WUM is only a quick battery change away.

I find the built in touch screen mouse pad to be ergonomically positioned properly and has a very nice feel to it with the mouse behaving just the way you would hope it would. I am not a fan of laptop mouse pads with their touch sensitivity but this one does the job so well you wouldn't mind using it.

Some of the features built in will take some getting used to, but I find the form and function to be very intuitive. Of course, just like anything else there is a tiny learning curve to working any keyboard with lots of remote functions. So the WUM is just the right size for kicking around on top of the covers, and it has a range of 30 feet so that will suit all but the largest rooms in range. I love it and for the price I am thinking about getting one for the living room as well. Highly reccommended.

I've been using media center PC's since 1999 when I got my first HDTV. I've gone through a lot of keyboards and systems since then, from the larger IR based Microsoft media center keyboard to the bluetooth Mac keyboard and trackpad (which I still have and my currently most used one, the Logitech Dinivo Mini.

The first Dinovo mini I had also had "The Green Button" we media center users love, but when that one died under warranty, the replacement did not have that anymore, instead boasts of a non-programmable button that calls up windows media player instead. And the letter "a" on my Dinovo Mini is not working as reliably anymore either, so I have been looking around at possible replacements. When this came up as a Vine offer, I jumped at it.

Size wise, it's a little taller than the Dinovo, but not quite as wide from side to side. It has a good feel, with a shaped bottom that almost makes it feel like a game controller for how your fingers wrap around the curved surface underneath. Button presses are great, nice and positive feeling. No mushiness making you wonder if you hit it. Plugged in the USB receiver, and it was instantly functioning. No problems at all, 64 bit Windows 7.

The layout of the controls on top are well done as well, the D-pad for directional on the top left, and the transport buttons on the top right. The only downside is there's no "middle" click on either one for an "enter", so as you're navigating the Media Center as I do, if you need to hit enter, you're going down to the lower half of the keyboard on the right side to hit the actual enter button, since the mouse click will click where the mouse pointer was, whether you're using it or not, as opposed to where the focus is.

The trackpad works about as well as any trackpad on a smaller device like this does, but it's odd using the thumb to do so, especially for someone like me who uses a laptop almost exclusively, so uses a touchpad all day and night. But once you get used to the oddity, it works fine. The buttons on top are pretty easy to get accustomed to as well. You can scroll up and down with the two thumbs simultaneously as well.

It's better than the Dinovo as far as the actual keys you have, because it's more of a miniaturized "full" keyboard. Control and Alt keys are there where you would expect on both sides of the space bar. And it has a LOT of other function keys, both for media center users (music, pictures, videos, etc) as well as normal PC users including a single button alt+tab option, and a single button for the flip 3D task changing feature. Easy volume up, down, and mute right under the top right transport controls.

And the buttons are actually arranged like a real keyboard, slanted, whereas the Dinovo's are set up in a slightly awkward vertical and horizontal grid, not like a normal keyboard.

And, of course, it has the green button to launch media center.

What it lacks, though, and where the Dinovo steps up, is programmable buttons for a few things you want to customize, and even more importantly, a lit keyboard.

When you're using something like this, odds are you're doing media functions. You may do a few other things, installing an app or something, but media use is the likely target for potential purchasers. And to lack the light up function of the Logitech is a serious drawback.

But if you don't need to use this in the dark, this is a much better price than the Dinovo, with more useful buttons for media center usage.

Had to drop it from my initial 4 stars to 1 star. It simply fails to work after time. Totally non responsive and inop until I pull the receiver out and reinsert again. There is no other keyboard with a USB fob that I've ever had to do this for, and since this is in my media center PC under the TV at the bottom of the cabinet, it's not something feasible to have to do every time I pick it up after a day of non use. Leaving it on, powering it off between uses, the button, nothing makes it wake up again, not even pulling batteries. Only pulling the receiver out of the PC and putting it back in again. So started out a good option for the price, ended up being a paperweight for me...

First we had a full sized bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo for our HTPC, but that was just too unwieldy and bulky (this is in our closet now). Then we had a "gyro" mouse controller similar to this, but returned that since the mouse was really awkward to use and inconsistent. We got this instead and have stuck with it for almost a year, so that's why I doubled the stars given.

I can't recommend it to anyone. We don't sit that far away from the HTPC; maybe 12-14 feet. Even if I stand up and walk close to the receiver I might have to press buttons repeatedly to get them to work. Maybe 20% of the times we try to use it the connection will be stable and it'll work like a dream. The rest of the time you have to press 1 button, check to see if it registered which could take up to a second, then repeat the press, or press the next key. We mostly resort to using our XBox (as a media extender) instead and try to avoid typing things into this PC.

This market is still wide open as far as I'm concerned. Maybe that Lenovo thing will be the next try, but I'm very hesitant to drop another $60 on this HTPC controller experiment.

For reference, I'm using it with a Windows 7 machine that has a 1st gen core I5 and 8GB of RAM. The machine runs like a dream except for our wireless keyboards so far.

If you are looking for a small keyboard / mouse to run your HTPC then this device should work for you. If you need something to not only run your HTPC but use for general web browsing activities this probably is the wrong product.

Pros Small, works out of the box with Windows 7, mouse pad is very functional and if you play console video games it will feel very comfortable in your hand.

Cons Limited range and easily blocked by objecs such as your computer case, your leg or your small child. I have the nMediapc HTPC 8000 case (very nice, looks like an old radio) so I had hoped to have the usb receiver in the back of the case. Additionally, the on off switch is so small that I recommend people to just leave it at on position at all times as it will go to sleep mode when not in use for some time, and when you press the green button (with window logo) or touch other button or touchpad, it will resume back on from the sleep mode.
