Palm Treo 650 700w 700p 755P Tungsten T5 Tx E2 Lifedrive 2-in-1 USB Data Hotsync and Charging Cable

Palm Treo 650 700w 700p 755P Tungsten T5 Tx E2 Lifedrive 2-in-1 USB Data Hotsync and Charging CableJust because there wasn't a button on the cable doesn't mean that you couldn't sync with it you just have to select the hotsync app on the handheld.

That being said, it did not sync with my Treo 755p. I knew the price was too good to be true; and I'm not sending it back since when I got it from Amazon.com through Bargincell, it was .01 cents. Not worth the hassle or cost of mailing it back.

In comparing it with the cable that came with the device (lazy me, wanted to be able to leave one at work and one at home so I didn't have to haul it back and forth all the time) I see that it seems to be missing a "connector" or whatever it is called. There are only 4 on the cheap one and on the Palm version, there are those four and then another a couple of slots to the left. Oh well, was worth a shot. I suppose it could still be used just to charge the device, but I wanted something that would do both functions.

The product is advertised as: "2-in-1 USB Data Hotsync & Charging Cable". In fact, it is a charging cable ONLY and does NOT perform hotsyncs. Shame on you, Amazon.com; issues like this do not help your reputation.

I broke my last sync cable. I went to the local office supply store and they wanted $29.99 for just a sync cable. I knew I could find something cheaper online. Of course, I searched AMAZON and found not only a sync cable, but a sync cable that charges also. This cable was cheaper, better, and way more convenient for me. Only complaint I have is I wish it would have arrived sooner.

Electric Avenue 82-5184 Disinfecting Portable UV Scanner

Electric Avenue 82-5184 Disinfecting Portable UV Scanner
  • Safe and effective
  • Portable for travel or purse
  • Range of wavelength is 9.98 inches
  • Requires 4 AAA batteries (not included)
  • Dimensions: 1.875 x 1.25 x 5 inches

I was very disappointed. Made of very cheep plastic, not put together well at all. The directions say you should put the scanner 2-3 inches away from the item, yet, the design of the UV scanner will not allow you to get that close.

I wasted $30. + SH.

This the 3rd review Ive been asked to give about this product. It has not changed since the first review. I am highly disappointed in this product. I did receive it in a timely manner but the product came with no instructions. The scanner sometimes lights when you open it and sometimes it does not light when you open it. The light itself is bearly visible. Im not sure if its not working properly or not. I did email the company asking for clarification but I have never received a reply. I would not recommend this product.

I was sort of skeptical of this item after reading some of the reviews, especially when so many reviewers reported that the bulb did not work. I received my item today and once I turned it on (by opening the hinge), I was alarmed to find that there was no light coming from the lamp. However, I then proceeded to make sure the bulb was secure by pushing it into its socket (LATERALLY, WHICH IS TOWARDS THE HINGE), and immediately the blue colored (UV) light came on. I think the bulbs just have a tendency to become loose in their socket, so you just have to remember to make sure it's secure. (Caution: be careful you don't force it too hard or else it could break in your fingers.)

ALSO, you should protect your eyes with (at least) a pair of UV blocking sunglasses when operating this device. Do not shine this onto your skin and especially avoid contact with your eyes.

Hope this helps.

When I got this, it was brand new, however, something inside it rattles around and it doesn't work. I got it to work once or twice, but only after messing around with the batteries and shaking it. I won't buy another one.

I got this new Disinfective UV. It said I had to use certain type of batteries, so I bought the brand new AAA batteries. The device did not work. The light was not on after flip it open. There was no switch button. I tried to contact Amoazon during second weekk of the purchase, this product was not even on my recent purchase list, therefore I could not go through Amazon return. I checked my credit card payment, Amazon clearly charged me for this product.I also had the receipt. I am too busy to monkey around with Amazon return. So this junk is sitting on my desk. All I want to tell you is that the disinfecting UV scanner I bought did not work.

BoxWave HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Ca

BoxWave HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Case for Slim and Durable Protection - HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld Cases and Covers
  • Form-fitting case designed to perfectly fit your HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld
  • Made of anodized aluminum that is strong yet lightweight
  • Designed with a clear plexiglass window that protects your HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld's screen so you can easily read your display!
  • Interior is padded with a thin layer of foam that holds your device securely in place
  • Accessible openings give quick access to button functions, camera, and charging/synchronization port

Two bad experiences with this case has caused me to stop using this case.

First, the lid unlatches far too easily. Fortunately, I consistently noticed the unlatched lid before my iPAQ came out of the case.

Second, the belt-clip part attaches to the case via a bolt. The bolt unwinds rather readily from the case. In one instance, it did so to the point of dropping to the ground, to the point of twisting the case, and my iPAQ scattering to pieces (fortunately, there was no damage to the iPAQ, and it still works). This second deficiency caused me to stop using it.

Buy BoxWave HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Ca Now

I had a metal case from RhinoSkin for a PREVIOUS hp RX3715 iPAQ, but they don't have one for the model 111, so I got one from BoxWave. I'm NOT happy with it. First, it has a clear plastic face that provides limited protection. I'd accidentally stepped on my old RhinoSkin case, dented the face slightly, but it saved my iPAQ. The BoxWave case wouldn't stand up to that. Second, the clear face lets me read the screen, but I have to open the case to do any screen-touch anyway, so it's impractical. Third, I don't like letting other people read what's popped up on my screen when I get a Calendar reminder when the iPAQ is on my belt.

The new case makes it difficult to reach the power button when the front cover is closed and IMPOSSIBLE when the cover is open. It also has useless access holes in the faceplate. The holes apparently allow me to touch various buttons, but again, I have to open the cover anyway to use the device, so these holes only weaken the case and allow more dirt to get in. It even has a hole just to see the "hp" logo on the iPAQ.

The belt clip isn't as good as the RhinoSkin's. I had the same type on a cell phone I lost because the clip doesn't easily lock into place.

Unless RhinoSkin provides a case for the iPAQ 111 soon, I plan to epoxy a metal plate over the clear plastic on the BoxWave case to make it stronger.

I'VE NOW HAD THIS FOR THREE YEARS. I LIKE IT LESS. The aluminum is like putty. The clip to hold the door closed is too soft and I often have to bend it back. Often have to bend whole case to fit the iPAQ. The clear plastic window came off. I'm shopping for a new case because the screw-on belt clip broke off.

I was impressed by the quality of this case in particular; it is lightweight and strong, and the inside offers a decent amount of padding to hold your iPAQ in place. My only 'con' is that you are unable to use the touchscreen through the plexiglass window, so you must open the case every time you wish to use the screen. Overall, though, a quality product for a fairly reasonable price :)

This case offers great protection for your iPAQ. It allows you to get at the hard buttons for the basic functions, though you have to remove the unit from the case to use it effectively. Fortunately, that's easy.

Note that the clear window on front does NOT allow you to use the screen I made that mistaken assumption.

Overall, it makes my iPAQ feel bulletproof without excessive bulk. I love it!

Kensington Contour Pro Notebook Case

Kensington Contour Pro Notebook Case - Top-loading - Handle, Shoulder Strap - NylonI've been using the my Contour Pro since mid June of 2004. I've mainly used it on my college campus, and I must say it's been great. I can easily fit my laptop, and books. In fact the pocket at the end of the bag (which is curved) is perfect for books! My only complaint would be for a longer strap so you could wield the bag across your chest (for 6' guys it feels awkward).

Great deal at ~60USD.

I have had this case for over 2 years, with light use (mostly when I travel). My 17" HP Pavilion zd7133 is a desktop replacement, thus, a heavy laptop.

Pros:

1) Lots of pockets and sleeves for cables, gadgets, and paperwork.

2) Nice shoulder strap

3) Case-within-a-case is nice. You can use the smaller case to go to a wifi cafe for web surfing. It has a handle and zipper.

4) Good as a carry-on bag on plane trips.

Cons:

1) The rubber zipper pulls break after light use. Now it is very hard to use the zippers that don't have pulls on them.

2) No good place to put the power brick. The brick makes the case very thick.

3) No wheels

4) The small padded sleeve won't work with a 17" laptop. Toss it or give it away.

I'm not sure there is a better 17" laptop bag. Some hotshot designer needs to invent one that can handle the power brick while mainting a somewhat slim profile.

For non-business users, a padded computer backpack might be a better choice.

Buy Kensington Contour Pro Notebook Case Now

When I first received my carrying case, I was impressed. It seemed quite durable (tough fabric and hard contour padded back) then proved otherwise...

I _DO NOT_ recommend using this case if you have a large and heavy notebook (as are all 17" notebooks).

After a few months the padded shoulder strap which I thought was comfortable ended up ripping at the ends (where the pressure is when worn on the shoulder). Then I contacted customer service to get the strap replaced. While I'm waiting for a new strap I started to carry it everyday to work by the handles...then, yup...it broke!

Customer service needs serious improvement. I've opened so many support tickets with them but because of the language barrier (India of course), it was not a pleasant experience. I eventually got them to give me a refund.

I would give this a 5 out of 5 if they only improved the design: make the bag REALLY able to support the weight of a 17" laptop, huge power brick and books...otherwise, look elsewhere.

Especially one that has a sturdy shoulder strap and handles!

Read Best Reviews of Kensington Contour Pro Notebook Case Here

UPDATE: I've had the bag for about 1 year. Two of the zippers have completely broken off. Completely unacceptable. I would change my rating to 1 star, if I could.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've had the bag for about a week. It is one of the more sturdy-feeling bags I've come across -the computer is extremely well protected inside multiple nested padded compartments. We'll see how well it actually holds up over time. It has a nice bag-within-bag design, so the computer can be safely transported (around campus, say) using just the inner bag, without the weight of the full bag. Lots of other little storage pouches, etc, and enough room for some books or large files. But don't expect to carry your computer AND several large textbooks... I don't think they would all fit. Nevertheless, this is probably as large a bag as anyone would want to carry on a daily basis.

The downside: This bag is heavy and large. It puts a strain on the shoulder when carried loaded for more than a minute or two. Also, the inner computer sleeve is presumably designed to hold 15"-15.4" notebooks, but even with the elastic sides on the inner sleeve, it is an extremely tight fit for my 15.4" Inspiron 6000. Maybe it will loosen up over time. (I could dispense with the inner sleeve since it is detachable, but then the computer would slide around in the larger compartment, which I want to avoid. So I squeeze into the sleeve as best I can.)

Want Kensington Contour Pro Notebook Case Discount?

I ordered this as a replacement for my existing contour pro 17. The picture looks right, but the product shipped is far, far inferior and is missing a whole compartment.

There used to be a separate top loading compartment for the laptop and included an additional sleeve. This one combines both compartments into one and omits the sleeve. I was very disappointed. If Kensington is going to create a different bag, then give it a different product number and a different name like Contour 17 AMATEUR!

PalmOne Tungsten T and T2 Slim Leather Case P10895U

PalmOne Tungsten T and T2 Slim Leather Case P10895U
  • Crafted in soft, full-grained black leather
  • Timeless design and custom fit
  • Space for credit or business cards and expansion cards
  • Stylish tongue and loop closure keep your essentials securely in place
  • Compatible with Tungsten T/T2

As folks have previously mentioned, this case does not allow easy access to the voicememo controls / headset jack on the left side of the T/T2. However, you can turn the unit around in the case if you need those on a regular basis.

Contrary to other reviewers, I have NOT found the power-on issue to be a big problem. The case does have two small leather loops on the inside-bottom of the front cover that are designed to prevent the buttons from depressing. I have a stack of business cards in the front slot in the case which may provide a better buffer for the buttons. Then again, it may be that I'm just relatively careful with my PDA and don't bounce it around a lot.

As one of the only cases designed specifically for the T/T2 line, this case will certainly please most users.

Buy PalmOne Tungsten T and T2 Slim Leather Case P10895U Now

When I bought this case shortly after the TT came out, there weren't a lot of choices. I settled on this case because I don't like metal, but now wish I'd bought the metal case. My TT is a very important tool for me in my work as an ER nurse, and it is aggravating to pull it out to access ePocrates and get a blank screen because it accidentally got turned on in my pocket and drained the battery. Even tho I have it set to turn itself off after a minute, it must get turned on frequently as I standup, sit down, and move about the department. At least once a week this happens, where I'll go to work with a full battery, and try to turn it on to find it drained.

The case is nice looking, and fine if you carry your TT in a briefcase or a large purse or backpack. If you have to carry it in a pocket, as I do, you will not be happy.

Read Best Reviews of PalmOne Tungsten T and T2 Slim Leather Case P10895U Here

Nice case. The TT is held in place by clamps on both sides, similar to the plastic hard cover that comes standars. Holds the PDA firmly in place. It's sleek and elegant, not bulky at all. One big problem though, when the case is closed you can't access the voice recorder button nor the headphone jack, which makes the PDS useless for MP3 playback.

Want PalmOne Tungsten T and T2 Slim Leather Case P10895U Discount?

When you get a Tungsten T you want to protect it. There are not that many options, since the Tungsten is a smaller size than most handhelds.

The case and attachment is symmetrical , so if you want access to the headphone jack and recorder button (which can be configured to open an MP3 player instead), just turn your Tungsten around in the case. Pity Palm didn't realize and at least suggest this or better still design for it!

I like the sleeves for Credit/business cards and the little hidden pockets for (2) extra SD cards.

Would be nice to have a case which:

1. Protects the handheld well

2. doesn't have to be removed to HotSync. (I guess this can be worked around with Bluetooth synch. in this case.)

3. Provides sufficient access to non-visual apps. Like MP3 and voice recording. At the moment, you can start Real Player with the VoiceRecord button on the side but it does start playing automatically. So you have to find the play button on the front somehow... Would be a nice option in the preferences of Real Player. (Will have to check out some other players.)

4. The clasp is flexible as content grows but a little awkward.

One option is to extend the Tungsten out of the bottom of the case, whilst jogging, but this is less than ideal!

This case is adequate, but only that. Buttons can be pressed accidentally but are hard to get at when you want to. (For example when you have the Palm in your pocket as an MP3 player.)

I think there is a real opportunity for someone to redesign the Palm cases to be more practical for multiple uses make a case that both protects and is practical for everyday use.

The actual connection on the iPAQ 211 requires a 5-pin, mini USB Type B connector. HP Support also looked at a cable and told me it is a 5-pin connector. The specs on Amazon.com appear to be incorrect when stating it is a 4-pin mini type B connector.

I rate this item at 3-stars because Belkin cables sell for less.

SanDisk SDDR-75-07 CF - SmartMedia USB Combo Rdr

SanDisk SDDR-75-07 CF - SmartMedia USB Combo Rdr
  • External CompactFlash and SmartMedia card reader
  • Fast transfer--up to 50x faster than using a serial cable
  • Easy to use; just drag and drop your files
  • Saves batteries; let ImageMate (not your portable device) transfer your files
  • Connects to your computer through its USB port

Plugged it into my windows 2000 laptop and it just worked!

My compact flash card shows up as a regular hard drive, you can drag & drop em and everything.

It comes with a VERY short cord that folds into it (good for taking it with you) and an extension cord for those of us stuck with rear mounted USB ports on our desktops

Has a nifty little light that flashes while its copies.

Great little device, i'm very impressed.

Buy SanDisk SDDR-75-07 CF - SmartMedia USB Combo Rdr Now

This was the third memory card reader that I purchased. The first two either did not work or their directions were too difficult to understand. This device is perfect. It can be quickly plugged into the front USB port of your computer or with the extension wire which is included into the rear of your computer. It shows up as a removable disk (E OR F) when the card is inserted and you can then remove and insert compact flash or smart media cards as long as the light is not flashing (active data transfer). This saves on battery power and ordinary wear and tear for your expensive digital camera. The transfer time is also amazingly fast, better than the cameras themselves. I have both an Olympus and a Canon digital camera so this multi card reader is great. Its small enough to take on any trip in a pocket of your camera case (depending upon size) or luggage but its greatest use will be at home when you want to do a lot of work without taxing your camera. What's most amazing however is the price. There is not much you can buy for your digital camera that costs so little.

Read Best Reviews of SanDisk SDDR-75-07 CF - SmartMedia USB Combo Rdr Here

I was looking for a SmartMedia reader, and this turned out to be an excellent choice! It is not the smallest reader you'll find, though it is pretty good size for a dual reader, the USB cord can be hidden around it, and it also comes with an extension cord if needed.

The main reason I wanted this reader is to transfer pictures faster than the slow serial cable of my digital camera, and this was definitely a major improvement. It works like charm in Windows XP without the need of installing additional drivers, I haven't tried on Windows 2000 but it is supposed to work with that as well.

I haven't tried it with CompactFlash cards. It is about the same price for a single card reader, so I figured someday the CompactFlash reader may become handy. It is a shame they do not make this dual reader for SmartMedia and Multimedia/SD cards.

Want SanDisk SDDR-75-07 CF - SmartMedia USB Combo Rdr Discount?

I just got the device today, so I must confess I don't know much about it yet. However, my experience so far has been very positive.

I needed to use scissors to get the product out of it package, which was a bit of a trial. After that, I plugged it into a USB port on my XP machine. By the time I could open the Windows Explorer and check, I could see that there were two new drives on my system. I put a SmartDisk in the reader and a little green light came on the top of my new device. There are two such lights, one I suppose for the smartdisk, the other for the compactflash.

I then went back to the Explorer, dragged the pictures stored on my SmartDisk to my hard drive. There were 256 2.1 Megapixel images in the 128 MB SmartDisk, and they were on my hard drive in three minutes. This was about 45 minutes to an hour less than it used to take me to transfer these pictures from my camera to my hard drive. I then popped the SmartDisk out of the device and I was done.

The only thing else I can think to say is that the instructions, the long USB cable, and a CD rom are all lying unused on my desk. So far there has been no need for any of them -which is just fine with me. They look a little like they might become clutter that I will have to file away or dispose of in the circular file.

I have not tried the compact flash part of this device. I may never try it. I only wanted the SmartMedia part, but the price was so appealing that I bought the dual reader on the off chance that some day I may need the CompactFlash part too. More flexibility when I shop for raw memory.

If I have trouble with the device, I will try to remember to update this review. But for now, no trouble, nothing but good things to say. It seems to be exactly what I wanted.

Sometimes it doesn't work! I've had mine for a year now, and I have checked for updated drivers.

I use mine with Windows XP Professional. I've used it to read smart media cards and compact flash cards, and in both instances I often get screen freezes when trying to access the cards. Then I have to reboot.

Sometimes I have to reboot three or four times before the thing works right. What's up? I dunno. I'm not a newbie. I've tried a variety of fixes, including reinstalling the driver, unplugging the USB cable and trying a different slot, and standing on my head when inserting the cards. This device is not reliable.

When it does work, after two or three reboots, it works just fine.

Try a different brand.

New OEM Motorola MOTOROKR EH50 Stereo 3.5mm Headset
  • Headset

I have written reviews previously on various other headsets or phone accessories... and I don't take posting reviews or recommendations lightly. Especially since I read those of others religiously before making a decision to buy.

This stereo headset blew me away when I got my FIRST set. See, it was so good and SO HARD TO FIND that I purchased not one but THREE (one for me, one for my wife and one as a spare).

I can't even wrap my brain around how DEEP and RICH the music churns out from these tiny little speakers. Almost seems like an impossibility. The other main aspect of an earbud headset for me is COMFORT. And these do not disappoint. They even come with alternate ear pieces to fit various possible shapes.

I almost DIDN'T want to post a good review... mainly because I don't want them to sell out! But hey, I can't be selfish.

If you pick up a pair at these incredible prices (I checked on other sites and they're consistently 3 to 4 times more expensive) trust me, you will be one happy camper.

For a long time I was looking for a good pair of hook earphones with build in microphone. I am the guy who gets my news through audio podcasts every day. When I'm not listening to politics and tech podcastsI do some audio listening of my audible books. I also like listening to music on my exercise runs. On average I spend at least 3 hours a day listening to spoken word and music on my Google Nexus S, and having a good, reliable pair of headphones is essential.

The problem is that majority of the headphones with mic that are made for smartphones these days have "in ear" design like Samsung headphones or iPhone like buds. The iPhone-like buds are not very good if you are using them for running or power walksthey are really easy to come out of the ear. The "in-ear" headphones that work by inserting the rubbery part of the bud in the ear-canal and can cause severe discomfort for some people, which is exactly the case with me.

This pair is perfect for my needs. In my many years of having a smart phone I can honestly say that this pair is the best that I've ever owned. This is only the third day of me wearing it, so I cannot testify to its longevity, but my first impression has been nothing but positive. The sound quality is excellent. Bass could be better, but then againwe are not talking about $300 BOSE headphones. The microphone is quite good and the call quality is solid. I'd say that the microphone is at least as good as the one I had on my iPhone headset. The mic control button is a little bit harder to press then on any pair that I've owned before (and yes, that includes BB Curve-premium set). In addition, the design itself is stunningthis was not a selection criteria for me, but if you are someone who cares how the headphones that you wear lookthis is definitely a pair for you.

Overall, I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good pair of over-the-ear headphones with microphone. For myself I've decided that if this pair survives 2 months of useI'm buying another pair as a backup.

I have tried many different headsets, and this one far exceeds any other. It fits well, with the ear piece made of metal, and won't fly out during sports such as cycling or skiing. The sound quality for the price is amazing, with a rich bass and little distortion. The unit comes with a working in-line microphone and switch, and lastly, comes with a very functional carrying case to prevent tangled cords and protect the system. A definitely smart purchase!

Have been using this headset for about two weeks. Call quality is good. Callers can hear me, and I can hear them. Wind noise is moderate, usually not a problem.

But...the way you put these things on is to loop them around the back of your ears and put the earbuds into your ears. It takes fiddling to get them to seat properly. This procedure is cumbersome and slow. You can't put them on to answer an incoming call, for example. It takes too long. Compared to iPod earbuds, for example, it's much more complicated. Trying to put these on in a moving car is dangerous.

Once they're on, they're comfortable, and they don't slip off.

Sound quality for music is moderate, about the same as iPod earbuds, but lacks depth.

The fixed ear loops are like hooks that get caught on anything, including themselves, and frequently get tangled up. They come with an overdesigned rubber pod that you can wrap the cord around, but stowing the earbuds in that thing takes minutes, not seconds.

Lastly, the packaging is wannabe-Apple, but silly. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to open that translucent box, and all that plastic is just a waste.

This headset would be best for someone who spends their workday on the phone, and doesn't need to put on and remove it frequently.

Obviously, there are better sets out there but for what I needed, these were perfect for me. I use them when I am on conference calls or calls with family that can get lengthy. They have a very cool little carry case that I was unaware of because it wasn't pictured. It's roughly the size of a hockey puck. Sound quality is very solid and the fit is very comfortable. The only complaint I have is the case (pictured here). It was a bear to get into. Overall though, I have been very pleased with these.

Hewlett Packard C6301B CapShare 910 Hand-held Scanner

Hewlett Packard C6301B CapShare 910 Hand-held ScannerI have to admit, I was a bit sceptical when I first heard about the Capshare. Why would I want to pay all that money for a glorified half-page-width B&W hand scanner? After all, I bought one of those a decade ago (Logitech Scanman, for the curious geeks out there) for far less than the street price of the Capshare.

But my scepticism faded fast as I started to play with a friend's new Capshare. What an amazingly useful electronic tool! The Capshare really works, and really works smoothly. Pages are sewn together seamlessly, and displayed on the LCD panel on the back; no fuss, no guesswork. And ah, the applications! When I'm at the library, no longer any need to remember a copy card or a pocket full of change and find a copy machine (for fair-use copying of course!) Better still, when I get back to the office, I can file the copies on disk, and thus accessible from anywhere, rather than in my filing cabinet. When I get a travel receipt, I no longer carry it for a week before losing it; I scan it, and turn in the scan for reembursement. When I receive reviews or other documents that I need to share with collaborators abroad, simply scan, save to .pdf format, and email. And doubtless there will be plenty of additional applications that will come to light as I get used to having my Capshare around.

The downside? The software. While it is not bad, I do wish that the included text recognition software (conversion from graphics format to actual text) was better, but this will doubtless improve in time. And I really wish that the software ran on Linux, but knowing the Linux community, it's only a matter of time until something even better will.

I purchased one of these HP Capshare scanners as a closeout at $300, significantly less than the then current asking price of $900. I was very skeptical.

But YES... a very useful device. Contrary to what some reviewers claimed, I found this HP Capshare worth its high asking price, and very easy to use. It worked right out of the box, with my separately purchased Ricoh Magio sub-miniature laptop, which was a netbook, sold before the term "netbook" was coined. With the Capshare, I could scan text from bound books. My netbook would then volunteer to collect the scanned pages when the Capshare's IR port was within range of the netbook's IR port. Using Pagis Pro software (bundled with the Capshare), my netbook could then OCR, or convert the Capshare's bitmapped images to ASCII text, with 98% accuracy. The text could then be passed on to my Palm Pilot through the Palm Pilot's IR port. The three pieces of hardware were quite a technological team! (Along with Pagis Pro software.)

Of course, many complained that the Ricoh Magio was too difficult to use, because of its tiny keyboard. And the HP Capshare could not do a decent job at copying photos or even line drawings. It could only accurately copy black and white text. But the value of these devices was proven by the fact that I wore them out, unlike some other computer gear that was purchased and little used.

Has anyone found equivalent technology?

Or do I need to cobble up some improvised solution with a digital camera and additional software? If so... what software?

Protective Decal Skin Sticker for AT&T Pantech Pursuit case cover pursuit-354

Protective Decal Skin Sticker for AT&T Pantech Pursuit case cover pursuit-354
  • A revolutionary way to customize your device with Supper durable Ultra high gloss finish vinyl skin & High resolution digital printing with photo quality!
  • Precision cut to fit your device, scratch resistant protective shields with high-quality vinyl.
  • Supper easy to apply, with EASY Apply technology feature air bubble FREE in the application.
  • Non permanent adhesive allow easy peel off & leave NO sticky residue behind.
  • Thin enough to maintain compatibility with most accessories; tough enough to absorb the minor abuse from daily use.

The title really says it all, when you look at the product image here on amazon, it's pretty cute and an awesome graphic and concept... but when you receive the decal, it looks like it was printed onto the skin with an 80's xerox copier. Pixelated and coarse, and I have to say the decal is not flexible, more like a cheap sticker than anything. But it fits the phone and isn't godawful or anything.

Xerox XTRAVEL-SCAN Travel Scanner 100 Mobile 600 DPI USB Scanner

Xerox XTRAVEL-SCAN Travel Scanner 100 Mobile 600 DPI USB Scanner
  • CLR 600DPI 24BIT USB 2.0 OT VRS

This product sems to work pretty well.

It is very small, came with a leather sleeve for travel, and software included. It has one big button on the scanner, but I do not know if it does anything, becasue it comes to life and scans anything you stick in there automatically (no need to turn on).

The software was a little crazy to install (had to install twice) but seems to work well. Comes with some warnings about not plugging the device in until the software is installed, but then it was unclear exactly when to connect the scanner.

This is USB powered so there is no AC plug.

Scans in black and white or color, just have to change the settings to color.

It is a little tricky to get a straight and complete scan. Helps to have a flat surface and smooth paper. It starts scanning when the sensor is triggered so if the paper is not all the way in to the feeder then you will miss some of the paper and have to try again.

My biggest grievance with this product is the software. You only get a trial version of their software! If it was a full version I would have given this product 5 stars. The trial version only allows one page at a time. The full version allows you to merge those pages into a single .pdf. Sending someone a 12 page contract on 12 different pdf files is a joke and far from professional.

If you merge these and send them with the trial version, the pdf will have "TRIAL VERSION" all over the front of it embarrassing as well.

The full version of the software cost $100 as much as the scanner.

Work around Set the software to scan into Adobe pdf format, get free pdf995 and then you can merge pdf documents for free.

Thinking of sending this back only becasue of the lack of ability to merge pages scanned into one pdf. This should not be a $100 add on, everyone is going to need to do this.

The work around is OK, but why should anyone have to take extra steps for this most basic function? Come on Xerox!!

I use a flat bed scanner at the office but, since I have started traveling much more, I wanted a portable solution to scanning receipts while on the road. This one got some good reviews and I liked the form factor. It will scan full 8.5x11 documents (common at hotels) as well as the small register tapes (restaurants, etc...). It's fairly quick, the images are perfect for submitting to my client, and it fits in my computer bag right next to my 17" laptop. The fact that it's powered directly through the USB cable is perfect no extra AC adapter to carry.

The applications that come with it are great, too. I love the drag-and-drop approach to building my single PDF of all my receipts. My customers do too. Very easy to work with everybody can read PDFs.

Only reason it doesn't rate a 5-star rating is because it has developed a habit of generating a faint line on scans wider than 2 inches. If I clean it before every use (about a 3-5 minute process since it requires multiple cleaning passes and test scans), it's under control and works like new. However, the line seems to continually recur and annoying. Not bad enough to ruin the scan but, still, it shouldn't be doing it at all. I may contact Xerox to see what they think but too busy just now to do so.

Not a complete replacement for your flatbed scanner if you need high quality photo scanning but excellent for everything else.

Highly recommended.

I bought this because out of all the portable scanners, this had the best reviews. It runs off of USB not requiring an extra power adapter, which is a plus in my book. The instructions talk about using a cleaning sheet, which I have yet to find. So far, cleaning has not been and issue. I always put it back in the leather pouch that came with it after each use, so dirt and grime probably aren't going to be much of an issue for me.

The reason it got 4 stars instead of five is the software, as most other reviewers have complained about. I am pretty computer savvy, and I had a heck of a time figuring out the issues with it. The scans were coming out dark and fuzzy in all formats. I went through the adjustment scanning process a couple of times and finally got the scans to come out clear. Because it has an auto scan feature, it made the process difficult.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit, and it comes with Windows fax and scan software. I find that this makes the scan process much simpler. Clicking scan instead of the auto scan in the provided software eliminates issues of crooked scans or off page. Now it is a breeze. Click scan, pops up in adobe, name it, save it. Done.

For the price, portability, and size, this is a great little product. If Xerox provided a more viable scan and edit software with the product, it would be a 5 star.

I bought this because it was small so I could use it when I travel for business. It scans receipts very quickly with great quality and crops them automatically. The scan application opens and takes the scan automatically when you insert a paper. I can scan many receipts very quickly. I use it at home instead of my normal scanner now because it is so much faster and it makes doing my expenses much less of a headache. Well worth the money.
