I bought this remote to make PowerPoint presentations and I have to say I am pretty satisfied with the purchase. It does what it claims, installation was painless, just insert the transmitter into USB port and WinXP can recognize the device. I haven't tested the maximum operating distance, but I never experienced a problem with the laptop not responding to my actions. Just a couple things I would like to mention that I feel need improvement.

First, it's difficult to turn on the laser pointer. You need to press one button and then hold two buttons together and wait for 10 seconds. And the same you would like to turn it off. I cannot really understand if such complexity is really necessary.

Second, the battery used is the round flat one, like the one in the watches, just bigger. You can find it online, but not in the convenience store. I would rather them use a standard one.

Otherwise, I think for the money that is the best you can do. Comparable Logitech model is probably better, but costs $100 more at the time of this review.

I do presentations all the time. Tired of my old remote, I bought one of each of the major brands to compare them: Interlink, Atek, Logitech, Gyro, ...

By far this is my favorite remote. The key features are

1. Size: small enough to fit easily in your pocket

2. Built in laser pointer

3. Mouse controls: thumb pad, plus 2 buttons

4. Scroll wheel.

The last feature -the scroll wheel -is hard to find in many remotes. I really like using the scroll wheel to flip rapidly through a presentation. That feature sets this remote apart for me.

All in all, a very nice product for a very reasonable price.

I've tried a number of remotes, some of which are more expensive. This one has worked the best for me. For a point of reference, the last one I used (and returned) was the Logitech Multimedia Presenter w/ trackball; unconventional start procedure and sloooooowwwww trackball that didn't move all that freely.

Anyway, back to the point(er). I think the Keyspan is laid out quite well. Advancing slides can be done using either the wheel or the advance button. The mouse is very responsive w/ good speed and has an automatic slow-down next to buttons (nice for those w/o much dexterity or new to the one-finger operation).

The laser wasn't as tough for me as some of the other reviewers. Just depress one button while depressing another one for 3-4 seconds and voila. The laser option is kinda moot for me though since using a laser on something like a powerpoint presentation will generally not yield good results anyway; the laser will always get overpowered by the slide. If you use a laser on something like a big powerpoint on a screen, you can imagine just how ineffective it would be. That is why I use the mouse pointer when highlighting things I'm talking about on a particular slide. And that is why the nice speed and responsiveness of the mouse pad is a plus.

Bottom line: No complaints from me, has worked like a charm so far, and is a good buy imo.

UPDATE: The remote continues to work w/o problems. Used it for the entire school year (teach at a university and use powerpoint incessantly). The only add-on that you might want to get is an extension for the receiver if line-of-sight is an issue; I suggest a retractable cord so that you can stay as portable as possible. Besides that, the remote itself has proven to be solidly constructed and has held up quite well.

UPDATE #2: A couple years later and things are still hunky-dory w/ the remote. Works like a charm. Use it about 10 hours a week, so got some good mileage on it, and still everything is just fine. If you do get one, I still would suggest a USB extension cord; easier to hook up to a computer, especially if the port is on the back or it's one of those tight ones at an angle and you might want to use the other usb port (like on many of the Dell's).

UPDATE #3: Well, we're now looking at nearly 5 years since I wrote my initial review. Nothing has changed. This thing is still working lights out and hasn't given me any problems. I still look at new stuff out there (gadget guy), but still nothing compares yet. Even bought a Swiss Gear one 'cause it was dirt cheap and had the dongle that fit into the remote when not in use. But, couldn't compare. This thing is one of those 'classic' input devices that you'll keep forever if you try it (kinda like the logitech trackman wheel is for me as a mouse).

I've given up using this product because it is just not consistent enough. It will work well for short periods, but then I have to click the button repeatedly for a slide to move forward. Sometimes only every third click will work, which is very annoying when you are standing in front of an audience and talking about what is about to appear. This has happened in several talks, so I doubt it is anything to do with RF fields in particular environments. Obviously, the product is not designed with a high-reliability wireless protocol.

Other problems are the complex method for turning on the laser pointer, the rather low brightness of the laser pointer, and the non-standard choice of battery. Some things are very nice, such as the small travel size and weight and the fact that absolutely no setup is required (one of the only true plug-and-play products I've seen). Its too bad that this was taken to market without getting all the details right.

I first heard about this product from another instructor at the school that I work at. After trying it once, I immediately went out and bought it.

I used it for one semester and experienced some of the same problems that others have; draining the battery in the carrying case and difficulty with the laser pointer. Now, after only one semester (16 weeks) the back button on the front and side is not working at all.

I sent an e-mail to Keyspan, but have yet to hear a response. If this is the type of service and performance we can expect from them, then who is their competitor? My initial thought was to buy another one, but I don't want to give money to a company that isn't going to back up their product.

I love the product and the idea, it was great when it worked, but I don't think that I will be buying any future Keyspan products because of the lack of customer support and the short life span of a workable product.

This case looks very good, feels good in your hand. Two small things stop me from giving it 5 stars. The first has faded with time, and that is the smell. I understand the case is leather, and freshly tanned leather has a certain odor. But SHEESH. . . When you take this case out of the plastic bag it comes in, the smell is very strong, and gets directly in your face. After a month of use, it is now faded to the point where I don't smell my Ipad before I see it. The first week or so I had it, more than 1 person walked into my office and asked "what is that smell", and it wasn't because I ate mexican for lunch (I'm pretty sure). My other small beef is that the case doesn't fit real tight around the I pad. Good for ease of putting on, taking off, not so good for access to screen and home button. The piece which covers the front of the pad to hold it in the case moves a little (or the Ipad moves in the case). Doesn't sound like a big deal, but because the case is leather, it's thick, and moving 1/8 of an inch can make the home button a little hard to press, as well as touching anything on the far left edge of the screen.

Overall, I like the case, and would buy it again. But they could air the bad boys out a while before they bag'em up, and I wish the bezel cover stayed a little tighter in place

The iPad cover is very functional. I stays together well and is very easy to use. I like to watch tv on my iPad in bed, and the stand works well for that. I am worried about the longevity of the magnet and the leather, however for now it is great.

I mainly got this for my 4 year old son so he can watch movies on his iPad. The kickstand is made out of cardboard and bends really quick very poorly made would not recommend this case if your looking to use the kick stand.

Protects your iPad, but it's not very functional. When you want to use it on a table, it only reclines at a certain angle. It almost sits at a 90 degree angle.

This is the perfect laptop for anyone looking for a gaming laptop for under $1000. All the games I've tried on it have run perfectly, the most difficult probably being Skyrim, which ran perfectly on ultra settings. The laptop is very aesthetically appealing in my opinion (although some reviews for Acer Aspire V3 computer's said it was not attractive, I completely disagree). The main upside is gaming, but it also has a great keyboard which is very important to me as a college student, the screen is great, which is awesome for me because of netflix. The biggest issue I have with the design of the laptop is with the location of the track pad, and the buttons on the track pad. I was just playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 (which works perfectly), and my left hand would occasionally tap the track pad, causing my gun to fire at random. The buttons at the bottom of the track pad are frustratingly bad, but since I use a mouse that is not a big deal; the track pad is touch sensitive, and you can scroll up and down on the side of the track pad which is a nice feature.

Of course, the biggest issue most people have with newer Acers is with Windows 8; at first I found windows 8 incredibly frustrating, but within a couple days I got used to it. The only major difference is that instead of a start button where a sidebar pops up (like windows 7), you open up a start screen which has a tablet-esque feel to it. The start screen is slightly worse in my opinion, but not enough so that I feel the need to switch to windows 7. One thing that I don't care about, but others may love, is that there is a full numbers pad on the side of the keyboard, which would be great for programming or accounting or something like that. I have yet to use it, but others may love it.

The worst thing about this computer is its poor battery life, with full brightness you might get 2-3 hours, whereas my old hp pavillion dm4 got about double that. This doesn't bother me excessively because I almost always have a computer cord handy, but if you plan on taking this on the go don't count on a great battery. Of course an easy fix is to buy another battery (preferably with a lot more mAh) for about $50.

Pros: Great Graphics card, great processor, good GPU and enough GB hard drive make this a great gaming computer; screen resolution; nice keyboard; the ports (headphones, usb etc.) are tighter than usual which means your headphones won't fall out easily;

Average: speakers; screen size; Windows 8; start up time; internet connection;

Cons: Poor battery and heavier-than-average weight make this computer not particularly portable; Track pad location is bad (when you first get it the track pad will seem kind of sticky which will be annoying but this goes away quickly); comes with too much junk previously installed (for example who wants an ebay app installed on their computer?);

Note: Windows 8 will not let you do certain things because the original account you create will be called administrator but will not have full access to everything to prevent you from screwing things up. There is a simple fix to this, go to command prompt and type some stuff in you can find online and you will be able to log into the real administrator account.

Also, I definitely recommend a mouse (I think Logitech is the best) because the buttons on the track pad and the location of the track pad are abysmal.

Edit: Extremely fast start up speed, under 10 seconds.

Edit: As the comment below says, if you hit fn+f7 it will shut off the trackpad so you don't accidentally click it while playing a game.

I've just recently bought this laptop and it exceeds expectations! I bought this computer for playing games and watching movies on netflix. This computer can not only play games on high/ultra graphics but also has a great display. Watching movies on it is great. The problem I have with this laptop is the short battery life. I get around 3 hours when gaming on high settings but I usually keep it plugged in so not a big problem. Another con with it is the placement of the track pad. I end up occasionally tapping the track pad when playing games causing something I don't want to happen. To fix this I bought a USB mouse. This laptop has been great for what I need it for and hopefully you'll love it two.

This seems to be a good system but the "T" key has to be pressed hard to register. You also have to hit it dead center. I have to see what the Amazon return policy is. I would like to simply exchange it for one that works.

Really give this 4.5 rating. This is the second product that I have gotten from PD Air. The craftsmanship is excellent and the fit is way above average though for the price you would expect that. I've tried a few different BoxWave screen protectors and have been very happy with all of them. I've had mixed results with other brands so now I just stick with BoxWave. The ClearTouch protectors are very clear and very scratch resistant. I haven't had one wear out yet even after using my oldest one for about a year. They are rigid enough to make installation easy and the fit is perfect. Others I've tried have been a pain to install but the BoxWave ones go on easily. Usually on the 1st try they're properly aligned and don't have any bubbles. I haven't had to remove one to clean it even though they say you can. Can't figure out why I'd need to take it off to clean. I usually just wipe it off with a moist tissue. The adhesive seems mild enough that I don't think I'd have any trouble removing it but is also strong enough that none of the ones I use have pealed up at the edge.

First off, the kit I purchased had two types of skins: the clear skin for the watch face and a chrome decorative skin for the body of the watch. Each came with their own application instructions:

You have to hit the decorative skin with a blow dryer to activate the adhesive.

You have to use the included application spray for the clear skin.

Neither of these steps are optional for an optimal application. That being said, the clear skin really looked terrible at first. The directions said it would mostly clear in 24 hours and be entirely clear in 4-5 days. My patience paid off and now the skin is entirely invisible. This is the first truly invisible skin I've ever used.

I thought I was purchasing a multiple pack of these screen protectors given the price $12.95. When I received it I reacted "you have got to be kidding!" One 4x3 sheet is all you get for $13 and you have to go through the hassle of periodically cleaning it and reapplying it to the screen which is an exercise in futility trying to eliminate air bubbles. The instructions state the bubbles will disappear as any trapped moisture dries. No such luck. I was very patient and eventually just gave up and threw it out. I have seen multiple packs(usually 5) of this type of product on the internet for under $3. I purchased a small spray bottle of Monster Flatscreen Cleaner which used with microfiber cloth(spray on the cloth then wipe the screen). Leaves no residue and does not damage the screen.

Pros: Great low price, and for LEATHER! Not bulky. Leather case has protected my CLIE from breakage even when dropped on a corner, I believe because of the structure of the leather case. You can leave CLIE PEG-T615C in the case when using a CABLE to recharge or synch (rather than the cradle).

I had my doubts about how this product would actually work and if it would allow me to charge my Iphone3GS because Apple has made its phone series very picky about chargers. Charged my droid from 30% to 100% in about an hour and that was even in cloudy conditions. It will even hold a charge like a battery so you can leave it in the sun to charge up then bring it in and connect it to your device. I may buy another!

This was great the first four times I used it. It allowed me to charge the battery on my iPhone 3gs from 20 % to 85%. The bummer is that it only did this four times before it has completely died. It no longer takes a charge via solar cell nor via the charge cord.

I bought this with full knowledge of the physics limitation on this device. For those of you who thought this would be a replacement for the Household AC plug in or even a car charger, I am sure you were disappointed. First off here is the science behind the device. It has a internal 1500mAh Lithium-Ion battery. My Nexus S Google phone has a Samsung 1440mah Lithium-Ion Battery. Great you say. Here's the catch. Though the Scosche SolBAT II may have more little more juice than the phone battery itself, when it begins to discharge its energy to the cellphone, at some point the energy ( I am trying to explain it in non-scientific terms), in the Scosche SolBAT II will reach the same energy level in the cellphone (equilibrium) and it will no longer transfer its energy. That means that the charger will not bring your cellphone up to 100% or even 80% charge. You are looking at 40% to 50% charge max, that's it. Now in a pinch, when you are hiking away from civilization or at the beach or on a train where there are no outlets, this device will recharge your battery to a level that you can use your phone. That's the greatest feature, but it will not do what you expect from an AC outlet. Which is to recharge your phone to the 100% level. So don't expect that. Yes, the manufacturers could have built a device with a stronger internal battery, three maybe four times the energy level, that could recharge your phone closer to the 100% level. But then it would cost three of four times the price. For $20 you get a charger that does not draw from the electric grid, it will bring a dead or dying cellphone battery back to life to an acceptable level for moderate usage. Understand the limitations, and you will be happy with this remarkable device. Hope this helps everyone in making their purchasing decision. I am happy with the product, I know what it is and isn't capable of doing. I am glad I have it, since the electric grid isn't always available. Once set up, this charger is great to have around. I bike and camp a lot and it's great to have a charger that doesn't need electricity. But, as another reviewer pointed out, the instructions for this charger are very unclear. Some chargers (not solar powered) indicate the amount of charge left. With this charger, there is no way to know whether the it's fully charged or almost out. The only way to tell it's charged is that the "charge in" light goes out when plugged in or in sunlight. Definitely take the advice of another reviewer and start out by fully charging this through the USB connection. I think it's best use is to have it in constant sunlight during the day (hooked on your bike or backpack) then charge your ipod/iphone ect. overnight. But once you figure out it's idiosyncrasies, and if your activities take you away from electricity for hours/days at a time, it's really useful.

I am using one of my RasPi boards to run XBMC (using OpenELEC) and purchased this keyboard for its interface. It works really well, though at about 10' from the receiver it does seem to be at the edge of its range (the orientation of the keyboard does matter at this distance). The backlight is great; it illuminates all the keys well.

I first purchased the Bluetooth version of this keyboard, but it was not right for the application. The stripped-down Linux distros built to run XBMC do not have the tools necessary for Bluetooth pairing.

This unit has a USB dongle built in that is eternally paired with the keyboard, which means you never do need to pair it. On the downside, the keyboard is ONLY usable with the provided dongle.

I would highly recommend this keyboard for my application or ones like it. My experience and others who rated the product suggest that you should not expect a range greater than ten feet (3 meters).

This is a great device. I was skeptical given its non-name and small size but I have been very pleased with its performance. It simply plugs in...no software...just works. The range is more than enough for home theater applications (i.e. if I move any further away I can't see the screen anyway). The touchpad is very sensitive and easy to get use. Tapping is enable but smart scroll is not. It times out to save power after a few minutes but you simply revive it by pressing and holding the space bar. It is no bigger than your other remotes. Text typing works perfect...no missed letters. Laser pointer is good for entertaining the cats too! Highly recommend.

I'll first admit I have been unlucky with the product: the first one was eaten by the dog, and its replacement was not wholly functional (Laser pointer DOA); I am now awaiting the third one.

Still, it works very well as a remote keyboard with my Raspberry Pi micro-computer, it did not need any driver to work under Linux, and I can happily live with the small size of the keys. The back-lit keyboard makes it easy to use in low light, and the life of the battery charge is more than adequate for my needs.

I have also tested it on both my desktop and palmtop computers, both running Mageia Linux, and in both cases it worked perfectly, no driver needed.

The keyboard works great except for the wireless. The one I bought was a rf not a blue tooth. I had to move the USB wireless dongle in front of the computer. Other than that the keyboard and mouse work great. I have no problems waking the computer up using BOXEE for those who wanted to know.

The ordered arrived quickly to my door. I have used the battery and it works great. The car and wall charger both had the same issue with the connector (to the phone) coming apart after the first or second use. I just used a little super glue to put both connectors back together and they are working fine, now. Note: The battery cover is gray, which is part of the battery so it looks a little strange on my green enV, but it does work fine.

This battery was a definite step up from the dead one that I'd limped along with for so long. Since it was reconditioned or maybe because it was so old, the battery life was not what I expected from a "new" battery. With that said, however, the price was beyond great for what I received. I would definitely recommed for someone looking for a cheap battery without paying store prices.

This iPaq gets none of the love it deserves. In truth, it is the best stand-alone PDA available on the market. First, let me address the immediate complaints made about the 4705.

1. Price

Um, get a paper route. This is the highest end device of its kind, because of its speedy processor, VGA screen, and extras which are packed into the device. There are Pocket PCs available for much less money, but with lower price you sacrifice quality.

2. Size

Seven Ounces, the size of a pack of index cards. This PDA fits in your front pants or jacket pocket, and form factor dictates that it be that big to accomodate the large screen.

3. Screen flip cover.

This is removable. I've never understood this complaint.

4. Touchpad.

Using a floating cursor, like a laptop computer is actually a huge convenience. Using the pad as a navigation director isn't easy, so be aware of that before purchasing.

Anyway. The 4705 runs on a very fast processor, and can handle several tasks at once. The VGA screen displays 640X480 pixels, making videos, games, and websites absolutely gorgeous to view. There is tons of built-in memory, as well as SD and CF slots to accomadate another 3 GB of storage. This is more than enough room for all your videos, music, photos, games, and PIM. Pocket Informant is included, to manage your Notes, Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts. It integrates with Outlook for your Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, and Inbox. ActiveSync 3.8 works very quickly, and you'll have no problem taking both your office, and your personal life with you on the go. Microsoft Office is included, so you have both Word and Excel. You can read, edit, write, and print documents and spreadsheets. These can be transferred to and from your computer. Windows Media Player 9.0 is included, allowing you to listen to .wma files, or watch .wmv files. Ive had this device for about 2 weeks and I can just say its amazing! It is bigger than most PDA's but it is not an uncofortable size. You can easily put it in your briefcase and forget about it. The screen is superb... Ive placed a few pictures of me and mi girl and the look great, its like having a mini album in your pocket.

The wireless capabilities have an outstanding range and hold a steady connection.

BATTERY LIFE: It will easilly give you 4 days without having to recharge.

TOUCHPAD: It is very weird and hard to get used to it... but its not hard enough as to say its a disadvantage.

EXPANTION SLOTS: Cards are easy to acces, and the blend in beatifully...

SPEED: speed speed speed.... lighting fast... sometimes I think its faster than my PC notebook

In conclusion... this is my third pocket PC and it has convinced me once and for all HP iPaqs are the best PDA's out there. I highly recomend this product. You will be then envy of every pocket PC holder.

I'm a gadget lover, and the hx4705 is one sweet gadget! Web surfing at my local Panera bread, or checking a quick email (via home wireless network) before going to bed has NEVER been so easy. I personally feel this is the perfect bridge between a desktop PC and a laptop. I debated buying a laptop for over a year, but I didn't want to shell out $1500-$2000 for something I would not use as often as I can use my hx4705. And I got mine through an employee discount from HP for $585. Enroute to work, I can read PDF's, read an ebook, create simple Word docs (redundant, since all my Word docs are "simple"), play a game in VIBRANT color, or listen to MP3's. This is mostly what I will use this for, so it suits me fine. BUT, it's nice to know I am capabale of doing other things (GPS, camera, BlueTooth, etc) if/when the need arises down the road. I LOVE THIS THING!!

I would like to comment on some of the negative commentary I have read here in Amazon and in several online reviews.

REBOOTS Yes, they happen, but I've have yet to have to reboot where I lost data. I have yet to own a PDA which never needs a reboot.

WEIGHT Are you kidding me? Saying this device is heavy, is like saying the screen is TOO colorful! First off, it's a PDA, so if you can lift and hold a TV remote control comfortably, this PDA will NEVER cause you any hand/wrist injuries. Second, the added weight only means this thing is NOT constructed of CHEAP PLASTIC (i.e. Visor). I'll take a few more ounces for better quality construction any day.

TOUCHPAD Not the greatest idea, but if you practice enough and you like the idea, it works fine. I like the stylus, personally, and usually use it. I may get a thumb keyboard for banging out quick docs, as well.

PRICE In my case, the hx4705 is MUCH cheaper than a laptop, though it is the priciest NON-PHONE pda. But you get bang for your buck with embedded 802.11b, Bluetooth, 4" VGA screen, etc. Personally, I like keeping my phone and PDA separate, and I don't like gadgets that try to do too much, i.e. Phone-PDA-Camera.

If you are on the fence, go to a CompUSA and check it out for yourself. I did and fell in love with it. No regrets at all.

I use this with my Epson LabelWorks LW-300 Label Maker (C51CB69010). It is a very nice black on white tape. The backing peels very easily. The tape itself seems to be pretty waterproof. I have used it to put my name on plastic waterbottles, and the tape stays on even after I put the bottles through the dishwasher. This would probably also work well for people who leave their kids in daycare and have to put their name on bottles, tupperware, etc.

The tapes also peel off of must hard surfaces without leaving any residue. I have some file cabinets that I use these on and I can easily pick off the labels (after many months) without leaving any marks whatsoever.

30 feet is a nice length much better than the 9 foot starter cartridge that came with the Label Maker.

This product works as advertised. It makes nice labels, and the back is easy to peal. I just don't feel like the price represents a very good value. That is a big price for something not much more than a role of tape. I am sure they charge what the market will bare, but I am not satisfied with the value I am receiving.

Other than that, the labels work well.

I was dissappointed that there was no clear seal strip OVER the lettering like the Brother P-Touch.An oldie but goodie...still works...circa about 1990, I think....that makes it about 23 years old....These Epson letters smudge....at least on the starter cartridge it came with...black on white......Only three stars because of that.....sorry. ....Hobbiehubbcapp.

I bought this PDA after extensive obsessing over web reviews, product information specs, and visiting the "red shirted" and "blue shirted" sales associates at my local tech retail stores. I chose the Casio BE-300 for its functional ability, and to supplement, not replace, my laptop.

I highly recommend this unit for those of you who, like me, need a small, inexpensive, yet fully functional color display PDA to record your calendar events, take quick notes, maintain Outlook-like contact lists, and check basic email. This unit does all this beautifully, and synchronizes well with Outlook 2000. The only strange synchronization I've found is that items sent from the PDA to Outlook 2000 are sometimes misspelled, but never in the other direction. I wonder if this is more due to my "typing" using the stylus and the smaller display, rather than an actual synch problem. The entire synch process is very easy to set up, and operates seamlessly for calendar appointments, to-do tasks, contact lists, etc.

As for the lack of software, I don't use a PDA to play games, use Word, and manage spreadsheets; for those, I rely on "real" computers, with at least a 15" display; great graphics card; lots of RAM and cache; a real joystick, mouse, and keyboard; and a true sound system. I just can't do this cramped by a screen smaller than a floppy disk. I know how frustrating this can be, because in 1982 my "real computer" was an Osborne-I with a 3" screen! So trust me on this; work in an ergonomic environment, and if you seek diversion on those long flights, buy an inexpensive hand held game, and use this PDA for your true business needs.

If you've used Pocket PCs in the past, you will likely be thrown a bit by the menu system; it reminds me of the old DOS shells (such as 1dirplus) that don't give you a functional desktop but require you to work through set menu choices listing its functions and programs. That's actually MORE user friendly when you think about the ease with which you can access your programs.

Lastly, you can easily add basic accessories, such as compact flash memory and modem cards. The BE-300 is the roughly the same size as a Handspring Visor, so if you want to put it in a carrying case, you can use one that is compatible with Visor. The only negative I can say at this time (after one month ownership) is that the battery seems to depelete pretty quickly; I use it daily, on and off, and at the end of each day, I seem to have 50% to 60% left only. That may be normal for a PDA, but seems fast to me.

The BE300 is a cross between a high-end PDA and an entry level PocketPC with the exception of the price! I was able to get mine for $149 at CompUSA, and I can safely say that was one great deal I got there.

Though you will see lots of reviews saying that the BE300 has too little software out there and has a 'weird' main menu (not like the windows-type menu for PocketPCs). But if you really 'dig in' and see how much resources there are for development for the BE300, you'll grab one fast!

In my case, my unit's startup screen doesn't even look any close to the default screen and why? Research, and with the help of a lot of BE300 owners and developers for this platform who knows a good deal when they see one (special thanks to all the dudes at the Brighthand Forums for the BE300). My BE300 now has a 'desktop' with the works, including selective wallpapers and startup menus like Windows has! The available software is also growing at a high good rate! Even software that run only for the PocketPC are now being ported to the BE300 (Pocketstreets, various MP3 and video players, spreadsheets).

So imagine...a $149-$199 unit (166mhz MIPS CPU w/ 16MB built-in, beautiful and very clear color screen, and CF expansion) capable running applications that a $400-600 unit can? Hmmm....go figure :-)

And with a full Windows CE Net OS upgrade in the works, the BE300 will definitely make it big time!

Some considerations: get a nice PDA case for protection(it'll fit in the Palm Glove series w/o it's face cover) and get at least a 128MB compactflash card (BE300 supports type I and II) you'll be filling it up with applications, games, ebooks, mp3s, pics, movies in no time. :-) Do get it before they start jacking up the prices!!

I was looking for compatibility with certain Win CE Programs.

It tells you nowhere that it has its own Casio Proprietary customized operating system, that does not allow running Active Sync (which is the interface between your PC and this dumb PDA)

Instead it has a program called "PC Connect" and very few programs have been written for it. Very dissapointing and deceiving

The Casio BE-300 way outclasses everything else in it's price range. I've used Pocket PCs, Windows CE devices, Palms, Visors and several organizers. This device plays videos and displays photos better than the Pocket PCs we bought at work that cost twice as much. Syncronizing email worked well too.

The BE-300 has a powerful processor; 133 Mhz (speed) 64 bit (if a 32 bit processor is a 2 lane highway, this one is a 4 lane freeway!). The screen is great, high color and much better resolution than the Palm. The operating system is upgradeable (flash rom) which means it's also recoverable if there is an error you can reload it. Extremely flexible and expandable piece of machinery.

I found it as easy as the other Pocket PC/WinCE devices I've used and much less trouble than the Palm/Visors.

Why is it cheaper? I've read that Casio wrote it's own interface for the brand-new Windows CE 3.0 because Microsoft requires devices running Pocket PC to have a speaker, microphone and infrared port.

Available software for the BE-300 has doubled in the 3 weeks I've owned it. I've contacted services like AvantGo and Mazingo; both were interested in making versions for the BE-300.

Amazon's engine that compares it to other devices is missing quite a bit of information, probably because this is a new device. If I haven't made it abundantly clear, I highly recommend this device.

I really like the styling, weight and dimensions of this unit. The color display is excellent and it has all of the basic tools you'll need. However, I still haven't decided on whether or not I'm going to return it because of the fact that it's not compatible with most software made for pocket PCs. Casio has been adding quite a few software titles within the past 3-4 weeks but I think it will be quite some time before they will have an adequate arsenal.

I actually sold my Compaq 1650 to purchase this unit (mainly for the color LCD). However, I do miss the voice recorder, solitaire and ease of the ActiveSync software with the previous unit. This unit comes with PC Connect/Intellisync and it seems to have a mind of it's own when it comes to performing a syncronization.....sometimes it will and sometimes it won't.

Loading the limited software titles and program files from MyCasio.Com has been somewhat of a challenge as well. However, I was able to download some game titles from Jimmy.Com made for this unit fairly easily. The gaming possibilities are actually pretty promising.

Besides the limited software, my biggest gripe is that it doesn't have GPS capabilities right now. I'm in sales and I hate to be lost while driving around new territories. A GPS system would probably sway me into keeping the unit.

I guess the biggest question for me is do I want to spend an additonal (money) for a Casio E-125 or another unit of greater price when the BE-300 practically does everything all the others will do?

I suppose limited software and hardware applications should be expected with such a new product and if Casio remedies these few faults, they can really gain a substantial market share for a unit that is an overall good buy when you stack up the competition.
