Cisco AIR-LAP1041N-A-K9 Aironet 1040 Series Access Point

Cisco AIR-LAP1041N-A-K9 Aironet 1040 Series Access Point
  • Building on the Cisco Aironet heritage of RF excellence, the 1140 Series delivers industry-leading performance for secure and reliable wireless connections.
  • BandSelect improves 5-GHz client connections in mixed client environments

This is a great wireless acees point. Not sure why people buy Cisco gear without know what it is. Please note this unit needs to have a wireless controller, that is why LAP is in the model number!!!! Not sure why people buying this device and then complan after the fact that it needs the controller.

Buy Cisco AIR-LAP1041N-A-K9 Aironet 1040 Series Access Point Now

I picked up a couple of these on an ebay auction, and installed one onto the POE port on my Cisco ASA that I use for a gateway on my home network. Holy moly, is this thing rock solid, with insane range and coverage. I am very very impressed, of course it is the better part of a grand, so you would expect it to be good!

A note for everyone who complains about not knowing that this particular one requires a separate Wireless Lan Controller that is what the LAP in the model number stands for. For heavens sake, check cisco.com before you buy any of these things they are not cheap so don't be lazy and then blame Amazon's information.

Oh, one small issue, they ship with IOS 12.3. I noticed that I was unable to establish PPTP tunnels when connected to Wireless. If you are doing this, you need to upgrade your IOS to 12.4(23) I think, it is listed in the release notes as fixing the PPTP problem.

Don't try this if you're in a hurry to order. The LAP is NOT the AP version. You'll need to have a controller to manage this AP. I am certain it's a great AP...I have 16 more to configure for another client...with the WLC.

The only thing I'd change was my ordering of a dual band (A/B) AP instead of a single band which can support better range and throughput in the A/N space than it's single band counterpart.

These APs are a really good tool for a budget WLAN set up. I prefer the much more costly 3600 series LAPs but they are stratospheric in price so there's really not a fair comparison in function/capabilities.

My school purchased one of these Cisco 1041 access points to be a part of our new wireless network. For most of our building we installed the Cisco Aironet 1140 Series AIR-AP1142N-x-K9 802.11a/g/n 2x3:2 MIMO Standalone Wireless Access Point AP and converted them to controller based devices. All of them work great with our Cisco Wireless controller. This one covers a classroom that is in a remote part of our building with no access points nearby. It is exactly what we needed in this situation.

The easiest way to make this device work in standalone is to purchase it pre-configured for standalone by referencing the model #'s on this page:It _IS POSSIBLE_ to make this device work in Standalone mode if you have already figured out the hard way that it won't work as is. However, you have to have a CCO login which can be obtained here:Then download c1140-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA.tar (or newer) from cisco's website. I believe any file named *.JA.tar is the Standalone Ios...don't quote me though.

Then follow the instructions from this post to install the downloaded IOS:-= End Update =-

I purchased this unit and the description doesn't mention the requirement of a Cisco WLC (Wireless Lan Controller). Unfortunately, a WLC capable of running this unit is just as expensive (or quite a bit more!) as this access point.

It has been hinted that this unit can be upgraded to a standalone IOS, but all the documentation I can find to do this doesn't work.

Great leather case. It protects my iPad very well. I love the multi-position easel back. The card holder has elastic to put your hand through, so you won't drop your iPad. Love the magenta color. I highly recommend this case.

Only issue is taking a picture that is not front facing while in the case. The circle on the outer case is not quite large enough, so you have to take it off the outer case. No big deal since it is just the Velcro that holds it in. It is the same as changing from landscape to portrait, not completely removing the iPad from the case.

This case is very pretty, high quality and protect my iPad4 very well but it blocks iPad back camera because it is too thick back part (When I detached out cover, it works).

I think this case is good for traveling or a person do not use back camera often.

I like how well this case protects my iPad, but the notches don't hold the stand in place very well. If those were deeper I would rate it a four or five. If it came in more colors AND the notches were deeper it would definitely get a five. I was hoping for a nice green (not fluorescent).

I love the rooCase because it can stand at multiple angles. I bought one a year ago and love it. I bought a second one recently and it is different. The iPad fits in a seperate sleeve that velcros into the folding case. This adds additional weight and bulk from the original, but it also is nice because I can take the iPad out of the folding case (like for ease of taking pictures) and the iPad is still protected.

Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PC (Black)

Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PC
  • 3 Button Mouse
  • 800 dpi precision laser sensor
  • On/Off Switch
  • Pair Button

Complete disclosure: I'm a big fan of Macally products.

The mouse arrived. A nice touch were the included AAA batteries. My Mac Mini and the mouse didn't connect happily until I rebooted. I rebooted and they paired immediately. So far they have maintained their connection and movement or a mouse click have woken the Mini up right away.

The mouse design is typical Macally: Not stylish, just beautifully functional. It's black with silver band around the middle. The buttons give good resistance and you can hear the click. The scroll wheel has good feedback and you can feel "clicks" as you scroll. I appreciate this response better than the "smooth" feel of some scroll wheels.

The manual (which takes about 30 seconds to read entirely) gives a URL to download the Mac drive for programming features. The website says it is for OS X 10.4 and 10.5. My mini has 10.6 and the driver didn't seem to install properly. I haven't heard back from Macally tech support. So far, I've been able to live without the drivers, but I do want to know what I'm missing.

Buy Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PC (Black) Now

I wanted a bluetooth mouse to go with my new Macbook Air, so I didn't have to worry about cords or plugging in a receiver. But, this mouse is not compatible with OS X Lion! I could not get it the bluetooth connection to work, and their website is useless. I took it back to the Mac store and the tech guy could not get it to work either. He even opened another box and tried it, same result. I went somewhere else and bought a Logitech bluetooth mouse, which connected right away. So, it's not OS X Lion that is the problem, it's this mouse.

I've had this mouse several months and it worked well with my Macbook Air running Snow Leopard. However, after I recently upgraded to Lion it would no longer pair. I contacted tech support and they informed me that the mouse was not compatible with Lion and there were no plans to issue a driver update. Rather, they will release a new version of the mouse which will be compatible. Unfortunately, customers like myself who still have the old version are stuck with an unusable mouse. This is rather galling as I purchased my mouse after Lion had already been released and there were no disclaimers in the Amazon description stating that it was not compatible with LIon.

The Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse stopped working for us at about the time the return period ended. I've tried to do everything I could think of to make it work, to no avail. We cannot get the Bluetooth program to read the mouse at all anymore. In fairness, maybe it's our Bluetooth program, I don't know. We had problems the entire time with our Bluetooth recognizing it.

The mouse works really good. Kind of looks like the Mighty Mouse. The plastic however feels a bit slippery without any good gripping feeling.

The scroll wheel on mine is a bit loud.

HP iPAQ RX3715 Pocket PC

HP iPAQ RX3715 Pocket PC
  • Integrated WLAN 802.11b, Bluetooth IrDA and USB
  • Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software
  • Samsung S3C 2440 processor
  • Built-in 1.3 MP camera, 1280 x 960 resolution, 4x digital zoom, video record and playback
  • 152 MB user available memory

I bought this a couple of days ago at the store. Trust me, I did my running around trying to decide which PDA to buy. I was not really wanting to spend five hundred dollars on a thingamajig, but after trying it out, I loved it. I went to all of the big stores, and this was the one I kept on coming back to this one. Let me explain why I picked this one.

1. You get a decent amount of memory and it comes with one of those cards with a 100MBS on it...I put 2 albums worth of songs, and guess what--that's fine. I wanted the IPOD before this, and really, I don't need to have a thousand songs. I don't have a thousand songs worth listening to anyway! The sound quality is perfect. You can also buy portable speakers and it'll sound great.

2. It was easy to work with. I fully personalized mine with my photos and changed the theme. It's really like a beautiful tiny computer that's fast and easy to use.

3. If I was going to shell out the dough, I actually enjoy feeling the weight and quality. It looks and feels good in the hand. I did't want something that felt like a cheap calculator, other pda feel this way. BUT some prefer the lightness too. I don't.

4. The camera. Listen, I knew the camera wasn't all that. It's similar to most camera phones. There's no flash! But I like that there is a camera b/c if I'm in class and I don't feel like drawing a diagram, tada, I can take that picture! I'm not going to depend on this camera for my vacation pics. Duh. I have my nice 3MP camera for that. Its just great for those times that you wish you can take a quick snap. Especially living around New York. You see some crazy stuff at times that nobody believes you if you try to explain it. LOL

5. It's a voice recorder...did I say that I was a student??? I wish I had this a long time ago. This a great feature.

6. As for battery life, I've used this for two days w/o charging, the battery is still has ten more hours to go.

7. There's a cradle which connects you to your pc and it's internet connection.

500 dollars sounds like a lot, but you'll end up buying sd cards and cradles, which add up! Plus, this will be able to use longer that those models that are soon to go obsolete.

The only thing that I wish were better:

-I wish there was a better case included--It's an excercise each time to pull it off. But, come on...

Go for it...the other ones, you'll regret a few month from now when you see what features you're missing out on.

Buy HP iPAQ RX3715 Pocket PC Now

Seriously, I use my iPAQ to keep track of everything from my work schedule to my grocery lists.

The camera isn't tops, but what do you want from a 1.3MP cam with no optical zoom? If you're relying on this as your primary camera you really just don't get it. The cam is fine for quick shots and I've taken some photos that have turned out quite well.

I highly suggest downloading Theme Generator from Microsoft's website as the themes that come with it are, as with most stock desktop wallpapers, pretty boring. Or you can download some from www.pocketthemes.com they have a wide variety.

The universal remote feature is pretty cool. I have both the living room and my office programmed in. It doesn't cover every make and model though. I haven't been able to access the DVD player in my office with it. But it is fun randomly turning off my unsuspecting friend's TV or stereo.

I highly recommend picking up a SD memory card, especially if you want to use the iPAQ as a music/video player. The full screen feature on WMP is nice and makes viewing videos a nicer experience. The speaker(s?) isn't terribly loud, but you don't have to strain to hear it unless you're in a noisy environment. The headphones sound much better.

The Today screen is customizable. I keep the date/time, my upcoming calendar events and tasks list on mine.

The web browser doesn't handle text wrapping well on some pages and having to scroll back and forth to read on pages where it doesn't reformat is annoying, but it is a 3.5" screen after all. It works fine for short web-surfing sessions.

Having Bluetooth is nice as well. Up until now, the built in Bluetooth in my Apple Powerbook was going unused. It won't work with iSync like Palm OS devices will but I can still sync my Address Book contacts and copy small files back and forth.

The cradle now has a permanent home in front of my LCD monitor on my desk so I can drop it in whenever I get home and update the synced files on my PC.

Read Best Reviews of HP iPAQ RX3715 Pocket PC Here

This was my PocketPC after being a Palm user for 3 generations. I think the reason most people have problems with lockup is that they don't actually "close" the application. Like a mini-PC, it can multitask, and having 4 or more apps open at a time can cause the device to freeze. However, once you figure out how to actually close and unload apps from memory (which, admittedly, isn't intuitive) my lockup programs are no more. I keep, at most, 3 apps in memory that I'm currently using.

What is nice is that a lot of the extras are included, that is, you're not buying "extra" things which should be included. You get a real cradle for syncing and charging. Windows Media Player plays mp3s (with playlists) and video out-of-the-box. Some other manufacturers will say their device does video, but you get trial software that is limited to 15 seconds and must buy other software to convert to a proprietary format. You get a real internet browser, POP and IMAP mail access, programmable remote control (that works!), and other full feature software.

Yes, the camera is poor (despite being a megapixel). A bit better than your average camera phone. Pictures in bright sunlight turn out acceptable. Video clips, however, are actually decent (maybe I have a lower expectation of quality?).

I have sloppy writing as well, but have had no problems once I configure the software as such. Once you tell it which ways you commonly write your letters, it does fine. It is a time-consuming process but is worth the effect. You can even tell it which way your writing slants (I'm left-handed, so I had low expectations). Now I can write in my half-print-half-cursive writing with high accuracy.

Overall, it's a decent device and has lots of cool features that any tech-geek would like.

Want HP iPAQ RX3715 Pocket PC Discount?

I bought mine on Dec 31st 2004. This pocket pc is a very useful gadget from HP. The still camera works great for a 1.2 mega pixel but good lighting is needed for optimal results. I've read the other user's reviews on this product and I think they expected too much from the 1.2 mega pixel camera. The built-in camera is meant for online or device viewing and not for quality picture printing.

I haven't got the chance to rip some DVDs yet but when I connected to the my wireless network, I watched movie trailers and I cannot believe the quality of the picture at 300kb stream rate. Connecting to my wireless network was a breeze as well. Today I installed a network printer to my Ipaq rx3715 and it worked great. All that is required to connect a network printer is the printer IP address and its name. No need to install any drivers for HP printers.

The media player has great quality stereo sound with headphones or external speakers. The bass and treble can be adjusted for personal preference...which is a good feature.

The PDA functionality is very good especially the transcribe feature which allows the user to handwrite on the screen and then it turns in type-written letters. This feature saves you the hassle of typing in the letters from a keyboard.

The battery life lasts 6-7 hours on the average use time including surfing the net with wi-fi. The battery charges fast with or without connecting to a USB port.

There are a lot more features I haven't had the chance to try yet, but in a nutshell this pocket pc is a great buy at $499 US.

Save 33% Off

I would give this iPaq five stars were it at least $50 cheaper. Seems to get in line with the competition it would have to be $100 cheaper. But price aside this is a wonderful PDA. I've had a range of PDAs from the first Palm Pilot, Apple Newtons, Philips Nino, Psion Series 5, Sony Clie, and more, and this is overall the best one yet. It's a very small and light package full of features. I love having wifi and bluetooth built-in and it works fine with our AT&T wifi at home and at a local coffee-shop. Battery life is amazing. I've easily watched two feature length movies without running out of battery, and I can easily go a few days of normal use without a recharge.

Is all good? Well, no... the case that comes with the iPaq is pretty much useless. You're going to have to spend more money on a decent case. I got a Krusell Multidapt case. The screen seems to scratch very easily but that's common among these devices and you need screen protectors anyway. The HP software is not the greatest and you're going to want to get some other software to do some things.

Overall, a very good PDA, albeit a bit pricey.

Handspring Pen Stylus for Visor Edge

Handspring Pen Stylus for Visor Edge
  • Dual-function stylus for Handspring Visor Edge
  • Works as both stylus and ballpoint pen
  • Refillable with 66mm by 2.26mm cartridges
  • Durable metal shaft; comes with a reset pin
  • Handspring quality product

Ever since buying my Visor Edge, I'd been looking for a replacement stylus that was easier to hold and smoother to write with than the original one. This looked like the ticket, and when it first arrived it seemed to fit the bill. Sure it was a little plasticky and didn't actually latch onto the Visor, but it fit in the hand pretty well. But I almost immediately had trouble with it popping off the Visor when I jammed it in my pocket, and this problem just got worse until I had to carry the stylus seperately in my pocket. Eventually I had to return to the original stylus. The attach mechanism is just plain cheap more suitable to a disposable item than an adjunct to a $400 computer. I'd be willing to pay more for someone to make this thing right, but for mow the original stylus is the best thing going.

OrientEX Mini 2.4GHz Wireless Handheld Keyboard with TouchPad and Mouse for MacOS 10.x or later, Win

OrientEX Mini 2.4GHz Wireless Handheld Keyboard with TouchPad and Mouse for MacOS 10.x or later, Win7 XP Vista CE 2000, Linux Ubuntu 8.10 + Black Nylon Hand Strap LanyardIt has great response time its lightweight, durable, and neat looking. The touch pad has good response time and is accurate it takes a couple good swipes to go across the screen i would not recommend this for gaming I've tried and don't work very well. The laser pointer is just as good as some of my air soft laser lights good quality. It is a plug and play u don't have to hold any buttons to connect it just plug USB in and type away. I like how the USB has a spot in the keyboard so it portable and you wont loss the wireless stick. The only little thing is and I mean little is that the touch pad makes it uneven when u try to type with your thumbs but that just takes a little getting use to. Overall its a great keyboard I have recommended this and will continue to recommend this to all my friends.

Thought I was going to get some cheaply put together scam product, but for the price I couldn't turn it down. Just got it today and after putting it through its paces for a few hours I have to say it far exceeds my expectations. Manual is surprisingly clear for a foreign product and worked exactly as advertised, plugged it right in to my Ubuntu 12.04 box and worked out of the box. Trackpad works excellently and can even be rotated so that you can use the device horizontally or vertically like a real remote, excellent for my living room which is where I was mainly interested in using it. Unit arrived pre-charged which was a nice touch. Overall for the money you won't find a better product. Very happy with it so far.

Targus 12.1 - Inch Widescreen Notebook Privacy Filter
  • Designed to fit 12.1¿ widescreen notebooks
  • Protects valuable information by narrowing the viewing angle; onlookers see only a dark screen instead of sensitive information
  • Use included adhesive strips to stick the screen to your LCD or use the included tabs that stick to the outsize frame of the LCD screen

I called HP before I ordered this to make sure it would fit the screen of my laptop; it did not! It is much smaller, appropriate for a netbook, not a pc. I also purchased it to cut down on glare, as I was staring at a screen 8 hours a day for a project. While it dims the screen, it does not reduce glare as much as I had hoped, and I experienced severe eye strain. I'd buy this only if you have a tiny netbook and only to prevent prying eyes from reading your screen it you are in a public spot. However, if your screen is this tiny, you should not have to worry about those next to you being able to see what you are doing anyway.

Extended Systems DC051013 C Pen Infrared Serial Adapter

  • Supports IrDA infrared communication standard
  • Operates up to 3 feet away
  • Connects to PC serial port
  • Supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0

If you have a laptop, you can probably transfer data to it via its onboard Ir (infrared) port. If you have a PC, and most do not have Ir ports, this Ir adapter will work, *IF* you have a serial port to spare. Most of us do not have an unused serial port, so such devices require swapping and rebooting. New to the market are USB IrDA adapters. These work well out of the box and require no swapping or rebooting. The price is a bit higher for now, but I think it's worth it for the increased ease of use.

JAVOedge Editor Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color / Nook Tablet

JAVOedge Editor Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color / Nook Tablet
  • Magnetic closure offers hassle-free accessibility to Barnes & Nobles Nook Color
  • Interior lining is made of soft material to prevent scratches
  • Case kickstand to prop up for hands-free reading
  • Interior pockets for storing business cards, papers
  • Non-leather material is animal friendly!

Overall, this is a very nice case. I'm very pleased with my purchase of it. It does what it is meant to do, and does it well. There are just a few small design flaws that I can't help but notice, and I wish to share them with others so that they can make an informed purchase. In no way do I feel these flaws hurt the product.

Pros:

* High quality feel

* For the most part, the NookColor doesn't move when it's in the case (more on that later)

* Easy access to all buttons

* Extra holding space in the top flap is nice, though not very useful (again, more on that later)

Cons:

* The space for holding notes and business cards is not very useful I've found. While I can slip a piece or two of paper into it, anything more than that and it starts to get awkward to use, and things fall out when you have the cover flipped backwards to use the Nook. Along with that, the business card slot on mine seems a bit loose, and things have a tendency to slide around in there. This may be a flaw with only my case, or may be a flaw in the product line, I do not know. Regardless, it's an issue with mine, and something to keep in mind if you intend to buy this case with the intention to use those areas.

* The Nook is held nicely in the case when it's closed, but it slides a bit when you have it opened up. This seems to be due to the fact that the Nook is held in place simply by leather, which it naturally glides along easily. There have been numerous times, when holding my Nook in landscape mode, that it has slide out of the case a bit when I'm using it. This generally happens when I'm surfing the internet and have to move my hands around a lot to type. It's not generally an issue, as a slight nudge and it's back in place, but it's something to consider.

* This last thing is more of a personal issue than anything, but when using the stand I feel that the Nook is angled too far upward. I would prefer that the Nook stands slightly more vertically, as it's angled a bit too far back for me personally. Others may prefer it the way it is however.

Buy JAVOedge Editor Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color / Nook Tablet Now

Grippy feeling from the textured case easy to grasp.

Looks very sharp.

Nook color fits in the case very well, tight enough, but not too tight that you can't remove it. If you open the top flap and flip it upside down, it stays in the case. If you shake it a little, it slides right out. Perfect.

Stand works excellent. Snaps keep it shut when you want but is easy to snap open. Stays out of the way when closed very well nice and snug to back of case, so no accidental opening of the stand is likely.

All ports exposed and easily accessible.

Magnetic clasp on the front holds it shut well.

Top folds back easily for reading / tablet use / etc and doesn't look like it will get creases or anything.

Small cut out in rear panel for the NC speaker, under the stand, so you can hear the speaker when the stand is open.

Minor Cons:

When the stand is snapped shut, the sound is muffled to some extent. Not fatally, but noticeably. When the stand is open, I think it actually sounds better / louder (I think the sound is bouncing off the stand a little). A small cutout in the stand seems like it would have helped with this.

Could have done without the card holder/ flap on the top. That's just my preference though.

Quick update: I tried this case out on my e-ink Nook, and it fits pretty well tighter than the Nook color so the frame around the screen sticks out a tiny bit but definitely workable. In case anyone is wondering.

I must have looked at 50 different Nook Color cases, either in person at Barnes & Noble or Staples, or on line. I must have read most all of their reviews on Amazon. Fortunately, the expenditure of all that time proved to have been worth it. The flip case that arrived is protective, well-stitched, attractive, and stands up well. I could have paid a lot more than the $18 it cost with shipping and been no more satisfied.

the stand isnt very sturdy and if you have more than 1 pice of paper in the little pocket everything will slide out when its folded back but its a good product for the price you pay.

Pandigital Photolink One-Touch PANSCN06 8.5-Inch x11-Inch Photo Scanner - Blue

Pandigital Photolink One-Touch PANSCN06 8.5-Inch x11-Inch Photo Scanner - Blue
  • Easily scan photos up to 8.5x11
  • Scan directly to SD card and comes with five in one reader that reads SD/MS/MSPRO/MMC/XD
  • Outputs in JPG directly to PC
  • Resolution of 600dpi
  • Simple transfer to your digital photo frame or PC

I just KNEW this product was out there somewhere! I kept thinking, "Surely I'm not the only person who has hundreds of photos to scan and can't afford to take weeks to do it!" I kept looking, reading reviews, and looking some more. There was no way I was going to take 5 minutes or even 2 minutes per picture, previewing, scanning, cropping, adjusting. All I wanted to do was get decent, quick scans from old photos, good enough to post on Facebook. This little gem turned out to be perfect for what I needed.

PROS: This model will handle up to 8.5 by 11 inch photos. There is an adjustable guide to help you feed pictures into the slot, but I found I didn't really even need to use it as long as I positioned the photo up against the left edge of the scan path.

Scans are very quick. At the default setting, a 4x6 photo takes approx. 20 seconds to scan and save. Everything is automatic. You put a picture in the slot. The scanner feeds it through fast! When the light stops blinking, you scan another. I sat there watching TV, feeding one shot after another through the unit without a hitch.

One of the best features is that you don't have to be connected to a computer. If you're not connected via the USB cord, photos are automatically saved on the SD card. (The unit comes with a 1GB card, which hold hundreds of photos. HINT: After you install the scanning software from the SD card during setup, you can delete the scan software from the SD card. You'll free up lots of room for more photos. Just be sure to save a copy of the software somewhere, because I could not find a way to download it from the manufacturer's Web site.) You could take this unit to your family reunion, sit at a table with the relatives, and scan in photo after photo. When you get home, you can transfer the photos to your computer, or just pop the SD card into your digital photo frame. (I scanned about 350 photos and had them uploaded and posted to Facebook photo albums in about 3 hours.) Of course, if you'd prefer to connect and scan directly to your computer via USB cable (included), that is easy to do as well.

CONS: You have very little control over the scan settings. You choose either 300 dpi (dots per inch) or 600 dpi. (300 dpi is fine for posting photos online.)

You have no control over how the photo files are named when they are saved on the SD card or on your computer. (They are just numbered sequentially.)

You will need another software program if you need to manipulate the images after scanning (cropping, adjusting colors and brightness, etc.) The software that comes with the scanner does not have any editing functions. I recommend IRFANVIEW, a superb freeware photo editing program

It would have been really nice if the unit could have operated on batteries. Then you would not even have needed to use the power cord (included)! Maybe next model...

BOTTOM LINE: If you need museum-quality scans for posterity or super high resolution scans for enlarging, get yourself a good flatbed scanner and digital photo editing software. It takes a lot of money, time and effort to get scans that good.

But if you just need quick, decent quality photo scans for sharing via email or posting online, this may be exactly what you're looking for.

NOTE: After now doing approx. 500 scans, I have not had any of the problems with lines across the image that some reported. I do use the little cleaning swab (included) about every 50 scans as suggested by the manufacturer.

The first thing we noticed about the PANSCN06 scanner was its small size. The scanner is about the size of the cardboard tube used for a roll of paper towels. The unit is amazingly powerful and versatile considering its small footprint.

We scanned a family album of 50 various size snapshots from the 1950s and 1960s by placing the scanner in front of the keyboard with the usb cord attached to the computer. Then we got going and placed photo after photo into the scanner slot, with the dual rolls of the scanner doing the work by pulling each photo through the front and out the back. The scanning of 50 photos required less than half an hour. Most of the time was spent removing the photos, then reinserting them back into the family album once scanning was complete.

Because we elected to scan directly to the computer rather than the SD card, we got immediate feedback by observing each scan on the monitor screen in near real-time. Thus we could tell if a photo had been scanned to our satisfaction, or needed to be re-scanned due to cockeyed orientation or some other reason.

As others here have observed, there are two scanning resolutions, 300dpi and 600dpi. We have only used the lower resolution, but have no complaints. The scans on the computer screen are at least four times larger than the original photos, which renders detail sufficient to blow us away.

There has been an issue with Pandigital scanners regarding lines appearing in the scanned image. We experienced no such problem after 50 scans. Reviewers on other websites have suggested opening the scanner case to clean the scanning glass of baked-on dirt or debris which cause the lines. We are prepared to attempt this remedy if needed, but only after the warranty expires.

There is one important issue about old photo scanning that needs to be brought to light here. This scanner is proficient at revealing details, some wonderful and some not, which are not obvious in the original photos. Thus, that hairy facial mole on Aunt Matilda's face in 1956 will once again be front and center on your computer screen, even if it was not that apparent in your little 2 x 3 print from the Eisenhower administration.

In our case, we grew up with a large active family that abused photos. Thus, after scanning we found ourselves using the eyedropper and paintbrush in Photoshop to restore images. We removed a wrinkle caused by a puppy teething on a print. We digitally blotted a red raspberry jam stain from my sister Susan's nose. We whitened the image to remove yellowed aging appearance. And so on.

Bottom line: great value, quick way to archive your treasured family moments from yesteryear.

I received the Panscn06 yesterday. I read the manual, hooked up the scanner to my PC, loaded the software from the supplied sd card, and started scanning pictures into Picasa. I was able to scan photos of all sizes from 3 x 5 up to 8 1/2 x 11. It even took some Poloroids. I have not encountered any problems such as lines in the scanned photos. Today I brought the portable scanner to work and while on break, pluged the scanner into an outlet, scanned 17 photos to the sd card in a couple of minutes, and tonight, I will load them on my home computer. So far, I love it.

Bought this about a week ago and have been scanning photos all week. It's extremely easy to set up and operate, and it's quite portable. Initially the scans were flawless, but as the week has progressed, I've begun to notice a huge increase in white lines appearing across the photos I've scanned. It started off in just one location, so I could turn the photo ninety degrees and scan it that way, but the lines are increasing and are now to the point where it's simply not worth using the machine. I'll probably be returning and trying another photo scanner.

I'm an atypical user of this product -few of my scans are of images. However, I use this product several times each week for another purpose: document management.

This scanner works very well for document archival. This becomes even more true when you have a large volume of papers to scan. Here's a common workflow:

1) Receive and open mail,

2) Separate "keep" and "recycle" portions,

3) Scan all items in "keep" pile,

4) Recycle items in "keep" pile.

In a matter of minutes I'm able to process any amount mail I received that day (home use). The same applies to receipts and similar documents.

Scan quality is above average, especially considering the speed of the scans and the cost of the unit. I've used flatbed and sheet-fed scanners three times this price and had inferior results. Photographic images I've scanned have reasonable color accuracy. Graphite (pencil), ink, charcoal and pastel drawings I've scanned are also of very reasonable quality. Note that in this use of "reasonable" I am saying it is satisfactory for normal use and do not imply any hesitation of recommendation.

Two items which separate its "I really like it" recommendation from "I love it" are: no battery power option (though a home-made adapter with alkaline batteries could likely power it) and the lack of support for Legal size (8.5" x 14") documents. Neither of those items are claimed features, so I don't fault the unit for lacking them. This is an excellent product. If you need to archive a large number of documents or images, or want an easy way to regularly process similar, buy this product!

  • Scratch resistant protective shields made out of high-quality vinyl.
  • Personalize your Palm Centro cell phone with this printed design vinyl decal.

I hate having phones that everyone else has. The decal skin allowed me to have a cool looking phone as well as protecting my phone. The great thing is that when I got tired of the color, I can just get a new one as opposed to buying a new phone. It was great quality and fit my palm Centro perfectly.

  • This Gomadic Battery Pack is uniquely designed to work with both standard (e.g. alkaline) and/or rechargeable AA batteries.
  • Easy to operate. Simply insert batteries, toggle on/off switch and your Samsung SGH-A237 will start to charge.

Charger tip was fine but the charger I got is different than what is pictured and when I took it apart to examine the inside of it, the one I received doesnt have a voltage regulator or surge protector. Other than that, works like described on an old cell phone but due to the fact it has no current or surge regulator, im afraid to use it on a newer cell phone. Fast shipping! You should know I had a 30 day return warranty but when I received the product I never opened the package until it was to late so now I cant return it. Maybe it was a simple mistake of inventory or something like that and they accidently sent me an older version, im not sure. I havent contacted the seller but a friend told me they have a lifetime warranty on all products. I would return the item but now I cannot find the receipt and like a fool I didnt print the invoice Amazon sent me. Other than that this seller has great products at very reasonable prices for many differnet cell phones. I recommend you go check them out but dont mess up like I did, always save a receipt or print the invoice so you can return it if its different. 4 stars for their service because they are easy to do business with and offer so many different products, minus one star because I didnt get what was expected.

BoxWave Sony Touch Edition ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector (Single Pack)

BoxWave Sony Touch Edition ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector
  • Award Winning Anti-Glare Sony Touch Edition Screen Protector
  • Dust Repelling
  • Bubble-free Application
  • Fingerprint Free
  • Sized to specifically fit the Sony Touch Edition

It does what it says on the tin.

A word of advice, it is easy to apply, but apply it from the long edges, not the top or bottom edges as the size is so exact to the screen if it is not dead straight it goes on at an angle down the sides.

It comes with a screen cleaning cloth and applicator which are useful, but a debit/credit card is slightly better equipped to remove any stubborn air bubbles!

rooCASE Dual Station (Black) Leather Case Cover with Stand and Elastic Hand Strap for Samsung Galaxy

rooCASE Dual Station Leather Case Cover with Stand and Elastic Hand Strap for Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 GT-P7300 GT-P7310I loved this at first then quickly realized that it made my tablet too bulky and the edges around the front of the case were too close to the edge if the tablet making it hard to touch the edge.

I wanted to find a case similar to the leather Bear Motion case my husband uses for his IPad2. After lots of searching I settled on the rooCase Dual Station for my new 8.9 Galaxy Tab. When it arrived I wasn't certain I had made the right choice because it wanted to tip over when used in the upright landscape view. However, after a couple of days I had trained the leather to fold back close to the bottom edge of the tablet such that the "base" is about 2 3/4 inches wide. The tablet is now quite stable. The case has one small magnetic closer clasp built into a corner of the leather which I really like. I am extremely satisfied.

Works great to protect my tablet. Not too terribly stiff, yet durable. Fits great. The only thing I would change is have a hole for the charger to go through, otherwise I have to leave it open or standing while charging.

As usual I spent a lot of time shopping and making my decision. There is always the risk that what you order will be a total bust. I purchased a Samsung Tab 8.9 tablet, which I love, and wanted to protect my investment. I wanted to use my tablet as a reader. I needed to protect the face and the corners against my clumsiness. The rooCASE covers everything. It is black pebbled leather bookcover. All the camera openings are properly placed. When open the speakers are clear. There is a magnetic closure that is just right and not too tight. I could not ask for a better cover for my tablet.
