This folio is exactly what I wanted. I researched just about every folio and tablet case for my Nexus on Amazon. Not easy with all the choices and a challenge sometimes judging by photos. What really helped my decision was a customer's video review of this product.

I ordered the black one (comes in four colors) and when it arrived I was thrilled. Feels great in my hands, the folio is solid yet flexible, the stand works great, automatically sleeps the Nexus when you close the cover, easy access to all the buttoms, camera, volume, usb port.

A terrific value for the price.

Took it on vacation with me a couple days after I got it and it was perfect! Loaded it with movies for the plane rides and the folio stand came in real handy on the seat tray. I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for the Nexus, and the stand angles on this folio are ideal for viewing.

I highly recommend it.

I bought the Accessorise Folio Case Cover for my son's Nexus 7 and he loves it. It is comparable in quality to $30 cases you would find in the stores. We watched a movie on a plane using the built-in stand and it performed flawlessly, despite a sometimes bumpy ride. The only drawback is the power button is a little difficult to access, but with the auto-on feature you don't need it much. We did not experience any of the odors that others have commented on. I looked around for a while before deciding on this case and am happy with my purchase.

First of, let's be clear this is an affordable case, not a high end one. That aside though, it is definitely worth the $3 I paid, and probably is worth at least $7. Here is why:

Pros:

1:Feels like leather

2: Looks like it could withstand a drop or two (it is a thick case, which is the drawback of this plus)

3: Soft inside material to cover the screen

4: handstrapnot the best because gravity will make the left corner slide lower than the right corner

5: Viewing standWas real nice when I set it on my lap and used it as a viewing stand. Has 2 different angles which works great for me

6: sealed with quite sturdy velcro, I can shake the case with no fear of it falling outI do adjust the velcro here and there to give it a more snug grip. This can be a bit bothersome until I remember the velcro is solid and the price.

7:Stretchy thingyNot sure the proper name for this, but it allows me to close the case with it so the flap has no chance of opening. Regarding the front cover, there are magnets allowing you to hold the case frontcover-side down (but a little shake and watch the "front cover" open)

8: AUTO SLEEP/WAKE!!!! This is a really nice feature because the screen goes off when the cover is closed, and turns on when the cover opens. No issue with the magnet being too strong as well (Probably because it is a thick case)

This leads me to the major gripes or disadvantages of the case.

Cons:

It looks like a leather book. This case is thick, so you can kiss pocketting your Nexus 7 goodbye.

The logo implies my name is "Ayl" Look at the photo. You will see the "Ayl" in the lower right corner(How accessorise got that is beyond me) This in my opinion is the dumbest part of the case. Seriously, it probably costs more to put that there and does nothing to further the company name. I would like it better if the logo was a simple "A" or a redesigned "A" or even the entire name "Accessorise" was put in a smaller font at the bottom right. I would ultimately prefer the logo under the tablet so it's hidden with the tablet.

All in all though, if you don't mind people asking Who "Ayl" is, I say it is an excellent $3 case for me.

I ordered the previous version and was very happy. Soon after they sent this replacement "upgraded" version. This version is slightly less bulky and the magnetic on off version works as expected. As others have mentioned, it does come with an odor, but now owning two, I can say that after a couple of days it does wear off and will no longer be an issue. The horizontal prop is greatly improved, however I can not seem to figure out how to vertically prop my device. Could be a user issue. This cover is a solid piece that I feel protects my Nexus well. A bargain find most definitely!

This is a nice little case for the money even if it didn't include all of the extras. Holds my tablet very securely and seems to be well made. I don't think you can go wrong with this if you have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Don't even have to remove it from the case to take pictures. I'm very happy with this purchase.

It holds my NOOK in place and it zips all the way around to protect it, and I can connect the charger to it without taking it out of the case. That's just what I wanted!

None of the ones at B&N.com do all of that. They do one or the other. If it zips and protects, it is a pocket and you have to take the NOOK out completely. If it holds it at the corners, then it doesn't zip/protect.

My only complaint is with the product description. It says that the handles are magnetic, but they are not. They are held by snaps. It doesn't matter to me if they use snaps or magnets, but the description should be accurate.

This case offers the best option for flexible, stable positioning (landscape or portrait orientation) for the Kindle Fire HD with an elegant pebbled leather appearance and cutouts for the dual Dolby speakers (so as not to muffle the sound). But keep in mind it is a bit bulkier/heavier than other rooCase options, such as the beautiful-looking 'Origami' style that's designed with faux leather.

Your Kindle Fire HD 7" slips into a pocket in this case to keep it safely enclosed. When the cover closes it puts the Fire HD into sleep mode. When you open the cover, the HD wakes up (but still must be swipe unlocked). There are cutouts in the enclosure that keep all vital connectors and controllers exposed and easy to access (mini USB for charging, HDMI, volume button, On/Off button, headphone jack, speakers, etc.).

The enclosure pocket attaches via velcro to an outer, stiff cover. It's that outer cover that has the built-in ridges that allow you to prop your Fire HD up at various angles in either a horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) position. I personally like the variety & stability of angles that are conducive to either reading or typing on the tablet. I especially like the flexibility to remove and reposition that enclosure pocket due to what I consider a "flawed" programming design in the new Kindle Fire HDs that is, they don't allow auto-rotation of all supported apps. So for some apps you have to turn your Fire HD so that the apps aren't upside down. With many Fire HD cases that becomes a problem (at least to me!) because the binding of the case must be held to the right (with the camera cutout to the left). As someone who reads left to right and holds books with the binding to the left, that feels awkward to me. This particular case alleviates that problem. You can detach the enclosure portion and reposition it any way you like in the outer protective hard cover. This was not an issue in the 1st gen Fire's with them it was obvious what was right side up so developers' apps didn't have to build in the code to deal with the fact that Amazon (counter-intuitively for a predominantly American-based company with a largely US target market base) designed the Fire HD with the camera to be positioned to the left...

I use a ZAGG bluetooth wireless keyboard with my Fire HD and it sits very nicely on the front portion of this case when I have the tablet angled in the case either horizontally or vertically. To be clear, it is a separate keyboard. It doesn't fit within this case. But it is easy to position in front of the screen to eliminate hunt & peck typing. And stays put on that nice velvet-like material inside the rooCase cover.

Getting it out of the way, my only complaint is the I wished the device went into the case the opposite way so that the volume/power buttons were placed at the top BECAUSE this way you end up bumping the buttons when you prop up the device. Besides that, this is the BEST Kindle case out there. It may not be fashionable, but its functionality is top shelf. I can rotate my tablet every which way, and then velcro it into place. I also read in my bed, which makes most kindle cases topple overbut not this one. It keeps your kindle upright wherever you are.

I love the versatility of this case. It seems to be very well made the materials are of high quality. The only thing I don't like is the location of the stylus holder. If I position the Kindle Fire so that the power and volume controls are on the top where I like them, then the stylus holder is on the left side inside the book cover causing it not to close properly. It works out ok to have the stylus on the other side; it's just that the controls are on the bottom. That's really the only problem. Otherwise the case is just perfect!

You're probably asking yourself, "Is this case really worth about 80 bucks?" That's exactly what I was thinking, so I ordered one to check it out.

What I found was a very sturdy, all aluminum case that will most definitely protect your Palm V from extreme hard knocks. However, the padding is so thin I can't believe it would protect your Palm from a fall on a hard surface.

Furthermore, the case has many sharp, unfinished corners and edges, and the design makes removing the stylus difficult without lifting the Palm slightly from the bottom half of the case. As with other hard cases, HotSyncing is a problem, but just move the cradle to the edge of your desk to allow the case to hang over the edge.

Yes, it does offer protection, but I was expecting a lot better fit and finish for my money. If your Palm lives in an environment that is harsh, like the bottom of a toolbox, this is the case for you. Otherwise, buy the "Palm" hard case and spend the difference on books and CDs here.

Currently, this is the best hardcase on the market for the Palm V, Vx, and IBM C3. It is extremely well-made (everything seems to fit perfectly) and adds very little size or weight to these slim PDAs. There are many good reasons to get this case, but there are also a few improvements they could make.

Let's start with the good stuff. The aluminum case has a brushed finish which looks good a wears reasonably well. Like all aluminum, it will scratch. But if you keep this in pockets or bags away from keys and such, it should do just fine for a long time. The advantage of aluminum, of course, is that it is extremely light and adds almost no perceptable weight to carrying my Palm Vx around.

The case is shaped to fit right around the PDA so it adds almost no size either. The whole thing slips easily into a front shirt pocket or anywhere else you would've carried your sleek Palm V. After all, isn't that why you bought it?

The PDA is held in the case securely by a center rail which slides into the left stylus silo and the interior of the case is padded with neoprene which works well. There are slots in the sides of the case for IR beaming and access to the stylus on the right side when the case is open. When it's closed the PDA is completely enclosed and protected.

There are, however, some drawbacks you need to keep in mind if you want to buy this case. First, it's VERY difficult to sync without removing your PDA from the case. It's possible, but very difficult. Second, the edges aren't sharp but they will scratch things (like your PDA) if you're not careful. Third, certain accessories will not play well with this case (some styli or the Bond Latches for example) since they won't fit inside the snug case when it's closed. Fourth, it's not cheap.

A few of these could be easily fixed (maybe there will be a v2.0 of this case). Maybe a clearcoat on the exterior finish and some extra slots cut into the sides of the case. A hinge that allows the case to open wider might allow easier syncing and some way to attach a security cord (like the Bond Latch) would be helpful (I'm a big believer in beeper bungees for any electronics you carry around). A lower price is always good! (Any of these things would earn the case a "6th" star!)

Basically, I'd say if you want the best hardcase out there, get this one. It's much better than any of the others I've seen including a recent look-alike that comes in cool colors but is VERY poorly made (sorry, I forget the name). The Palm hardcase doesn't even fall into the same league as this case and shouldn't even be considered if you ask me. Some of the soft cases out there are worth considering since they will offer similar protection from drops but won't do as well for pressure on the case.

If you've got the money, I'd highly recommend this case as a worthwhile purchase to protect your investment (the Palm V's ain't cheap either!). Otherwise, I'd suggest a good softcase before you consider any of the other hardcases currently on the market. This is THE hard case to beat and it will be hard to beat!

I wanted the best and I got the best. The Rhinoskin cover is the best way to really protect your Palm PC. It fits the PalmV like a glove and has a thin layer of rubber inside. While it will not act as a wallet or credit card holder it provides a permanent fix to bumping the on/off button, is very heavy-duty and durable, and just looks darn cool.

The Palm device mounts on a stylus-shaped rod that is also hinged in with the two halves of the case. So by opening the case fully and swinging the Palm out between the two halves of the case it is possible to fit it in the Hotsync cradle on a flat surface. However, if you really want to have the Palm device in the cradle and see the screen, you can set the cradle on a book or just slide the Palm device out of the case.

I haven't found any of this to be much of a hassle(just descibing it is).

I am a farmer, so I need extreme Palm protection. If you do too, I suggest the Rhinoskin cover.

I bought the rhino skin aluminium molded hardcase about 2 months ago, Ladies and Gentlemen THIS IS THE ONE you have been looking for, padded inside, light, and very hard, (if this one is hard enough, imagine the one made of titanium) smooth and very cool looking surface (everyone has to do with it), the rail that holds the Palm V keeps it in the center of the case, creating small spaces inside in order to avoid the palm to crash against the sides of it. The finish of the surface, most of the time, remains clean, so, you cant see spots, unless you throw it inside a dirty trash can, haha! (it does not mean you will never have to use a soft cloth with a little of window cleaner like rhino recomendsto clean it) and most of all if you want it to stay as nice looking as the first time you saw it, TRY NOT to carry your rhino in the same pocket along with coins, keys, etc.

Another PRO for this case, is the fact that you can put it in your back pocket pants and sit on it and even not noticing it is there.

Im a College student so, most of the time Im in a rush and I needed a case which could resist the tough treatments my palm had, so I found it, if you want your Palm V or Vx to be protected this one is the right for you.



I dont use the stylus that came with the palm, I replaced it with the very little but easy to use and much better than the one from TTools, the "Cross" stylus/pen is very stylish, very good mechanism that remains like new a whole life, you can put in the silo like the original stylus that came with your palm (you can find it at styluscentral.com , and the best of all is the price) I was affraid to buy it and not to use it because of the tip of the stylus, (the one you use to pull it out the silo) might be too big for the rhino case, so it would not close normaly, I fixed the problem and I will tell you how! first take a sandpaper not too rough and use it on the tip I told you before (BE CAREFULL NOT TO USE IT ON THE TIP YOU WILL USE TO WRITE ON YOUR PALM, WHICH IS VERY CLOSE TO IT) use the sandpaper vertically until you get the exact shape that will not interrupt the closing mechanism of the case. During this process be carefull not to scratch other parts of the pen. If you decide to buy this usefull stylus/pen in order to use it on the rhino aluminium case these instructions will help you a lot, but in case you dont want to make all this and have another place to carry a stylus I still recomend you to buy it anyway. The ink replaces are cheap too.

I dont believe all the publicity and the magic products I see, so, as a researching costumer, I only buy the product if I believe it is worth the price and most of all the quality. With this case I can take my Palm Vx just about everywhere with me. Its small size, shape (slightly tapered), smoothness, and rigidity let me easily slip it into my front pants pocket along with my wallet (sitting isn't a problem). Since I usually wear pants, I usually have my Palm with me. As other reviewers have noted, it is inconvenient to remove the stylus. However, I mostly use my Palm at my desk at work or home, and I keep a spare stylus at each desk. Because the case is so smooth, I occasionally have difficulty opening the case. And, after about six months of use, the padding seems to have shrunk. I stuck a small piece of felt on the back of my Palm to stop it from rattling inside the case. And it is somewhat inconvenient to place the Palm on the cradle-you can't just drop it in. However, despite these minor drawbacks, being able to safely and conveniently have my PDA with me all the time easily justifies the cost of this case for me. If you've ever found yourself without your Palm because it was inconvenient to take it with you, this case may be a solution for you.

This is actually the first review I have ever felt compelled to write...can't believe how well this little gadget works. Ordered several extra chargers for my Ipad and honestly expected this one to be the worst of the batch. Not only did it charge my Ipad while giving me extra USB ports, it was, ironically, the only charger I ordered that worked!

I originally thought I had found the solution to the problem of the iPad complaining that the attached device requires too much power. I expected this device to supply a three port hub to the iPad while supplying power to the devices and the iPad. Alas the iPad doesn't even recognise or sense the USB hub. So my original expectations have not been met. However the device does perform well as a PC hub and iPad charger although I do find it must be plugged in after the PC has been booted to be recognised, if plugged in before the PC has booted it prevents the PC from completing it's boot cycle.

Disappointed!!

This case holds the TF700 fine in landscape mode, but it occasionally slips out of the grooves in portrait mode; the Velcro attachment is finicky about its connection angle. The tablet sleeve has holes for the speaker and the case allows for open space around the speakers, but the sound still suffers from a bit of muffling.

As previously stated, the case will slightly block the tablet's forward-facing camera if the tablet isn't velcroed securely into its sleeve (a minor adjustment). When put into the sleeve, there is space directly behind the tablet to store a small cloth, which is convenient. The leather on the outside of the case seems to be very durable and cleans up easily. When closed in landscape mode, a hidden magnet secures the front of the case.

A picky observer might point out that there is no opening on the spine of the case to charge the TF700 while the case is closed. In addition, the magnetic latch only works when the sleeve is installed in one direction. Otherwise, a decent case for the price. Would recommend.

Great protection and easy to insert and remove tablet when nessessary. Options to fold back cover for quick use, and when removed from outside cover,becomes an easy to hold,slim unit. The stand options with many angles of view are also great. No wear so far after a couple months of daily use. The build quality and great looks are also features of this 5 star case. A little higher priced among the cases available through Amazon but the quality more than makes up for it.

Let's get it out of the way: This case is pretty heavy and it's thick maybe 3/4". If this bugs you look elsewhere.

This would look at home on your heavy walnut desk or on your leather chesterfield couch. Your Ikea particleboard dresser not so much. It will probably outlast it. The materials and construction are very nice. There's no air of cheap or disposable about it it looks much more expensive than it is IMO. To be honest I wasn't sure about it at first (it's thick!) but it's grown on me it was a 4* when I first got it the quality is unmistakeable but now that I've played with it more I'm convinced it's worth a 5*.

It's the inner sleeve that makes it fat. Personally I kind of like it now often I just use the inner sleeve alone since it seems to work better in portrait mode that way for magazines. I didn't want to have to remove the entire thing everytime I wanted to use it in portrait mode, like with some sleeves, for instance the RooCase slim fit cases.

There's no charging slot. I usually charge it from in the lowest tilt position (screen just above flat) but I guess that might be annoying for some.

The magnets on the front are a bit weak.

This item was bought as a gift for a family member and I cannot make any comment as to its usefullness for the intended purpose. The case does look nice, it is leather and appears well made. The case is a good size, fits well in the hand; it also has pockets for storage. It also appears sturdy enough to protect the tablet for which it was purchased. Appearance wise, it seems to be worth the price paid for it.

This was the third memory card reader that I purchased. The first two either did not work or their directions were too difficult to understand. This device is perfect. It can be quickly plugged into the front USB port of your computer or with the extension wire which is included into the rear of your computer. It shows up as a removable disk (E OR F) when the card is inserted and you can then remove and insert compact flash or smart media cards as long as the light is not flashing (active data transfer). This saves on battery power and ordinary wear and tear for your expensive digital camera. The transfer time is also amazingly fast, better than the cameras themselves. I have both an Olympus and a Canon digital camera so this multi card reader is great. Its small enough to take on any trip in a pocket of your camera case (depending upon size) or luggage but its greatest use will be at home when you want to do a lot of work without taxing your camera. What's most amazing however is the price. There is not much you can buy for your digital camera that costs so little.

I was looking for a SmartMedia reader, and this turned out to be an excellent choice! It is not the smallest reader you'll find, though it is pretty good size for a dual reader, the USB cord can be hidden around it, and it also comes with an extension cord if needed.

The main reason I wanted this reader is to transfer pictures faster than the slow serial cable of my digital camera, and this was definitely a major improvement. It works like charm in Windows XP without the need of installing additional drivers, I haven't tried on Windows 2000 but it is supposed to work with that as well.

I haven't tried it with CompactFlash cards. It is about the same price for a single card reader, so I figured someday the CompactFlash reader may become handy. It is a shame they do not make this dual reader for SmartMedia and Multimedia/SD cards.

I just got the device today, so I must confess I don't know much about it yet. However, my experience so far has been very positive.

I needed to use scissors to get the product out of it package, which was a bit of a trial. After that, I plugged it into a USB port on my XP machine. By the time I could open the Windows Explorer and check, I could see that there were two new drives on my system. I put a SmartDisk in the reader and a little green light came on the top of my new device. There are two such lights, one I suppose for the smartdisk, the other for the compactflash.

I then went back to the Explorer, dragged the pictures stored on my SmartDisk to my hard drive. There were 256 2.1 Megapixel images in the 128 MB SmartDisk, and they were on my hard drive in three minutes. This was about 45 minutes to an hour less than it used to take me to transfer these pictures from my camera to my hard drive. I then popped the SmartDisk out of the device and I was done.

The only thing else I can think to say is that the instructions, the long USB cable, and a CD rom are all lying unused on my desk. So far there has been no need for any of them -which is just fine with me. They look a little like they might become clutter that I will have to file away or dispose of in the circular file.

I have not tried the compact flash part of this device. I may never try it. I only wanted the SmartMedia part, but the price was so appealing that I bought the dual reader on the off chance that some day I may need the CompactFlash part too. More flexibility when I shop for raw memory.

If I have trouble with the device, I will try to remember to update this review. But for now, no trouble, nothing but good things to say. It seems to be exactly what I wanted.

Sometimes it doesn't work! I've had mine for a year now, and I have checked for updated drivers.

I use mine with Windows XP Professional. I've used it to read smart media cards and compact flash cards, and in both instances I often get screen freezes when trying to access the cards. Then I have to reboot.

Sometimes I have to reboot three or four times before the thing works right. What's up? I dunno. I'm not a newbie. I've tried a variety of fixes, including reinstalling the driver, unplugging the USB cable and trying a different slot, and standing on my head when inserting the cards. This device is not reliable.

When it does work, after two or three reboots, it works just fine.

Try a different brand.

The entire concept of the Wacom drawing tablets has been to get the process of creating art on the computer as close as possible to traditional methods and tools. Well a mouse is all but useless, but the pressure sensitive tablets like the Wacoms makes the art of drawing on a computer a reality. If you are lucky to have one of the Wacom Cintiq LCD tablet displays you are as close to the real thing as it gets.

The Wacom 6D pen does only one thing different then the standard pens that come with your tablet and that is it senses Rotation. To anyone who has done traditional art using a flat paint brush or a flat piece of charcoal its such a natural thing to rotate the tools in your fingers to vary the thickness of the stroke. If that sort of control is what you miss then this pen is for you. With some software the 6D pen can be set-up to mimic this same quality. I says some software because not all support this feature, in fact I have found that Corel Painter is the only one that does it in a meaningful and useful way, and even then you will need to do some tweaking of settings in Painter to get it to your likeing. Photoshop does support rotation but I can't seem to get it to react in a way that feels natural to me no matter how I set it.

My only gripe I have with the pen is it's a little on the thick side and I don't like the angled nibs and would prefer a straight nib option. The 6D pen does seem to be made more for the LCD tablets due to the fact you can see the angle of the pen in your hand as you draw, but it will work in any of the Intuos3 Wacoms. The felt tip nibs do have the feel of a marker

UPDATE: The Intous 3 (the generation of Wacom that this pen is for) is no longer the latest technology. However, it is still a fantastic tool that I use every time I'm in my studio. That said, I almost never use this particular pen anymore. It was very novel, but I just normally reach for the regular Intous 3 stylus.

If you don't already own the regular Intuos 3 stylus, get it first. This adds lots of functionality, but it isn't the primary Wacom tool. That said, I've really been having a great time with this. Like anything involving a pen tablet there is a learning curve, but after you get it, its golden. Be warned, that although there is much added functionality with this pen it doesn't get the feel of a real marker (which is kind of what I was looking for with this). With practice and tweaking brush options in photoshop, Illustrator, and especially in Corel Painter you can come really close.

My other complaint is the lack of buttons that come on the regular Intuos 3 stylus. Some people don't like the buttons anyway, so you may not mind. Over all, it is a big step in the right direction, but needs a few more tweaks to get it all the way there. In the mean time I applaud Wacom for this, because they are as of yet the only company to come out with anything like it at all.

I bought this pen to use when painting in Corel Painter X. As others have said not all of the brushes make use of the "rotational" feature that this pen provides but it's really nice to use it with the ones that do.

In addition to the rotational aspect, what I find really cool is that you can switch off between this and your other wacom pen and Painter remembers what paintbrush was last used with that pen so if you're switching between two brushes frequently, it's just a matter of putting down one pen and picking up another.

Kind of expensive and I waited awhile to indulge myself but I'm happy to have it.

Though I'm also a frequent Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop user, I haven't tried it yet with those but my regular pen works fine there so I don't really care. Like I said, I bought this for Painter.

I have used Wacom tablets for several years and love them. When the 6D Art Pen came available, I had to get it for my digital painting. Overall it's a great stylus and is more fluid then the Grip Pen stylus for digital painting.

The only real complaint I have is that the base to hold the stylus is the same as the Grip Pen. The problem lies with the fact that the 6D Art Pen is much wider and does not fit snug in the base, so it falls right over. It is annoying, but a minor complaint.

This is a good pen. It's lighter than the Grip pen. I didn't like that it doesn't have buttons like the other pens, which make it easier to change the "brushes" or their size, or use them just like a mouse. Its functions are great. It does everything it promises. It is a nice pen to work with, but I'm giving it a 3 star rating because it looks and feels very cheap. I think it is too expensive for something that looks and feels like a toy bought in a dollar store.

A very robust lock. It fits well on my thin MacBook Pro, and does not crowd out the adjacent USB port for most USB devices (an exception is my original iPod Shuffle, which is too wide for most adjacent ports). The straight key fits better on my key ring than a tubular key, appears secure enough, and rips open a mean parcel. The one drawback for me is that the heavy cable is parallel to the body of the lock. This precludes the use of a mouse alongside the lock side of my laptop.

As others have said this is a great cable lock. I'll try not to repeat what has already been said.

SECURITY:

This has "flat" keys but they are not simple keys; their groove pattern is sort of three-dimensional. I don't think you're going to get them duplicated at your local hardware store. Register them at the Kensington web site so you can get them replaced if you lose them.

There are many stories and videos on the web showing how to easily defeat the cylindrical locks that are used on less expensive cable locks but none of that stuff will work here!

CONVENIENCE:

The cable comes with a clip attached to it that keeps the cable coiled neatly when not in use. It is well made and works great. See one of my uploaded images.

Since the clip is permanently attached to the cable this remains a "one piece" solution with no little parts to get lost or separated from the cable lock. ("one piece" except for the keys, of course)

HOWTO:

When I first tried to use this lock it took me a minute and some minor frustration to figure it out so I have uploaded an image and will give a little explanation here. I do notice that a fair number of other reviews also mention some confusion and frustration over the workings of the lock mechanism. I hope the following helps ...

* Always hold the cylinder marked with the "K" lock symbol with one hand while turning the key with the other (see uploaded image). Because the cable attachment provides a more prominent hand-hold it is tempting to hold on to it while turning the key but the cable attachment spins freely and has no relation to the locking mechanism so holding it will not accomplish anything except by chance, leading to confusion. This may be the most important point.

* The uploaded image shows the locking mechanism in the locked position. The key is turned fully counterclockwise. This is the only position in which the key can be inserted or removed. The lock's T-bar will NOT go into nor come out of the slot on the device being protected when in this position.

* To insert the lock's T-bar into the slot you need to first turn the key as far as you can (180 degrees) clockwise. That puts the lock on the unlocked position and allows the T-bar to be inserted into the slot. In the unlocked position the T-bar lines up with the pair of pins forming an overall flat shape that will fit into the slot.

* Once the lock's T-bar is in the slot turn the key as far as you can (180 degrees) counterclockwise. This puts the lock back into the locked position and allows you to remove the key. Be sure the T-bar is fully inserted into the slot before turning the key. If it is not, this is where you might damage the surface or any outer plastic layer of your laptop.

* Take note of the orientation of the key with respect to the T-bar and the T-bar with respect to the pins when it is in both the locked and the unlocked positions. This will help you line things up when inserting the T-bar into the slot. This may be the second most important point.

I'm sure you could figure that out all by yourself but this will give you something to think about and the pictures something to look at while you wait for yours to be delivered!

The Kensington Microsaver DS lock is really good. Right out of the box you can tell its very strong and i feel confident this lock could stop all but the most determined thief from walking away with my laptop. (Given a good amount of time and the right tools any lock can be broken) Notebook locks are, in effect, a visual deterrent. You're average pick up and go with your laptop thief wont bother with trying at it, they'll just move onto something easier. The lock design is really good, much better then the classic design that has videos all over the internet showing how it can be picked with such high-end objects as a piece of cardboard from a toilet roll or a hollowed out ball point pen. The rubber surface where the lock comes in contact with the notebook is definitely a plus, won't be doing any damage to your notebook. The lock itself again, feels and is strong. Definately something you want to look into, I spent a lot of time comparing this to the regular Microsaver one as well. The DS is worth that extra $8 I paid for!

I looked at other locks in stores and did some online research and everything pointed to the MicroSaver DS with keys. While nothing will stop a determined thief I believe this is the best security available. It's well thought out, easy to use, and simply looks tough. It slips into a laptop bag easily yet it's long enough that you'll always be able to find something to attach it to. I use it while travelling and even at home.

I look at it this way. Once you realize that there is a device like this available you have to buy it and use it. Otherwise, you have no one to blame but yourself if your laptop is stolen.

I just received this today and had it locking down my HP Pavillion dv9000 in about three minutes. Seems to fit the locking slot just fine and does the trick of keeping it locked down so it can't walk away from my desk. Cable is thick and coated, so it won't scratch. One caveat, this thing is NOT light nor does it roll up into a neat little package. By comparison, it's a bit lighter and compact than an old printer cable (before USB). It's the weight factor that knocks off a star.

I haven't stopped using wired mice entirely--an old Razer Diamondback is my backup whenever a wireless device goes awry, complete with cord that tangles and hangs on the corners. For laptops, I just say the less thread the better. My netbook is usually accompanied by a wireless Logitech MX-100 ambidextrous laser mouse, pretty typical device there. Then this compact little Targus Wi-Fi ambidextrous model came up in the Amazon Vine newsletter. It uses your Internet wireless network, logging on alongside your computers and printers. So I took it for a week-long test drive in the heart of a state university library, filled with Kindles and iPads and laptops and netbooks, during finals week...

Out of the box--and the box will require a bit of effort to open without damaging it--the Targus Wi-Fi is smart about power. The battery compartment fits a pair of AAA batteries instead of double-As. As my battery charger fits both types, so I appreciate the mouse for using my existing stock of rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NIMH, appropriate for mice). The power switch is also sturdier and less likely to be jostled in my trusty old laptop case. The latter is another Targus product, and it has held up since 1998, being the only piece of computer-related equipment other than CD-ROM games to have survived the Brian Ranzoni journey this long. Unfortunately, my usual Logitch MX-100 doesn't do as well in any journey, because the sensitive power button gets easily pressed.

Installation of this model, on the other hand, wasn't quite as easy as the instructions stated. My netbook could not detect the mouse until I logged the former onto a network, which is not mentioned in the manual. The manual simply states that your computer and its Wi-Fi must be turned on. Once setup is completed, the mouse will talk to the computer in the future without the need to connect with any network, obviously as long as the Wi-Fi antenna is on. Your computer may also require a virtual repeater called a "software access point" (SoftAP) to allow your OS to talk to the mouse; SoftAP is already bundled with Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or later, so all you have to do here is make sure your PC is up to date. I imagine that Mac and Linux users have a similar virtual driver, but I don't know if you can rig this mouse to work with your system. Finally, your computer will have to have an actual Internet Wi-Fi transceiver--from what I can tell, you won't be able to program this mouse to use the same USB sticks as a standard wireless mouse or keyboard.

The mouse is noticeably slower to connect than standard wireless peripherals. Especially when booting up your system, it can take several minutes before it is recognized and enabled. Anything that temporarily suspends your system, such as sleep mode or bringing up the log-in screen, will also cause a noticeable delay of 3 to 10 seconds before the mouse is useable. In contrast, the touch pad of my netbook works immediately. Because of this aspect, I do not recommend using this mouse with a desktop computer unless you have a back up device. Otherwise, the mouse did not seem to suffer any interference from other wireless devices despite being used in the middle of a major University hotspot. It generally is not necessary to hit the connect button on the bottom of the device, unlike some wireless models I've used which periodically drop out. This contrasts to my Logitech Wave devices, which occasionally cross signals or otherwise have difficulty hitting up the antenna.

The Targus Wi-Fi mouse is itself reasonable as back up or a main device. The laser reads well on various table top surfaces, even those with a distinct patina; compare this to my older optical mice, including my trusty old Razer Diamondback and my prehistoric Microsoft 5-button optical, which are confused by the sheen on my old desk.

The buttons respond right out of the box, though I didn't do any heavy gaming as a trial. It didn't seem to me to lag especially, so casual laptop gamers ought to do okay here, just don't trust it to save your life in a maddened click-fight. I'm a five-button mouse gamer myself, with the side inputs typically being used for things like Secondary Fire and Flashlight (Half-Life series), or Block/Aim and Grab (Fallout 3 and New Vegas). It seems to me that it is as tricky to hit the pinky-side button intentionally, as it is easy to hit it accidentally. That is to say, one downside here is downsize; the mouse is a touch small and too easy to accidentally hit side buttons while trying to keep my grip, while also requiring a bit of an unnatural curl to get at them when you want.

Otherwise, the rubber grips give good traction, the footpads slide well without making the mouse an accidental hockey puck, and the whole thing is sturdy. I did not perform a drop test or a bathtub test. I have also not owned the mouse long enough to tell you if it is an efficient energy user, though it certainly did not die on me during the intensive finals week.

Obviously, if you use this mouse in a public place, or logged onto a public account for your initial setup, there is a risk that somebody can detect it. Right in the library where I work, we have students who experiment with web phone apps for finding every wireless device and port in the building.

Don't let that scare you off. This is a serviceable Wi-Fi laser mouse, and a good value from a price point of 40 dollars.

This mouse is good, IF, and ONLY "IF", you have good Wi-Fi... if you have slow internet connection (such as I do) It will glitch/lag as it becomes EXTREMELY sensitive for about 5 seconds then it goes back to normal. All the buttons work fine (when it is not lagging), is very portable (but it might be a little too small for some people with big hands), and it is relatively easy to set up. Let me do a little breakdown on the pros vs. the cons.

Pros:

1. It is very portable.

2. Has nice grips on the sides so it won't slip out of your hand.

3. Easy setup.

4. Nice for web browsing with its "back page/forward page" buttons on both sides of the mouse.

5. It feels sturdy.

6. It is affordable.

Cons:

1. It lags/glitches if you have bad WI-FI.

2. It is a tad on the small side if you have large hands like my GIGANTOR son who is a 6'2" Moose!

So in the end... IF don't have good internet (like me) & if you have an usb port to spare, you should go with a wireless Bluetooth mouse instead of this one.

I would have given this 4 stars if it didn't keep lagging on me every few minutes. (And I do have REALLY bad WI-FI, so if you have average or above WI FI this mouse will be fine for you.)

Mixed reaction on this wireless mouse. I love the idea of a wireless mouse, however, there's been some unexpected issues.

Pros:

Love the idea of a wireless mouse: very portable with a nice, compact design.

Once connected, it works really well very accurate with very smooth controls.

Nice features with the 4 way scroll button. Extra side buttons allow back/forward browsing.

Cons:

Must use the software to detect and turn on the mouse every time. It's not automatic or as seamless as most products are now.

If the mouse is turned off or loses connection, control doesn't automatically return to the touch pad. After many tries, I couldn't get this to work the way my usb mouse does. This is a deal breaker for me as it causes unnecessary reboots to regain access to my touch pad. Don't know if this is a design flaw or a specific issue with my set up.

Overall, this wireless mouse is a great idea but a bit short on execution.

My complaint with the Targus Wi-Fi Laser mouse is not so much this device itself as it works almost exactly as describedmore on that later, but more so on the theory of a wi-fi mouse itself. Firstly your computer must obviously have wi-fi as an option and whilst that's almost certainly going to be the case with a laptop it's probably less likely with a desktop PC (having said that my wife just bought a HP desktop which has wifi built in so perhaps it's becoming more common). So this device is aimed at laptops then? For the most part, but that's the inherent problem; to use this mouse at all you'll need wifi enabled on your lappie and that of course drains the battery much more than say a USB dongle would. If you're working in an environment where you wouldn't need wifi on, say on a plane or in a deadspot then you're needlessly draining your battery by having wifi on, all just to use a mouse! I almost wished it had a secondary wired option as a back up for this scenarios.

Your own laptop usage will dictate whether the above is going to be a deal-breaker. My laptop is generally plugged into an outlet most of the time so for me it is actually less of an issue but one I thought mentioning all the same.

The mouse itself comes with installation software, something kind of unusual in this day and age, and will require SoftAP which windows 7 has (this mouse will not work with XP, Vista and probably other OSes) and then syncs via your wifi connection. It's not a 'clean' way of getting a mouse connected frankly but once done it's done. There's a delay coming out of sleep mode but my aging Logitech MX700 suffers from the same problem. I did see lag similar to when older ball mice would stick and I really don't like that. In fact out of all my criticisms that would be my biggest. I could live with all other quirks if it performed like silk but lagging at any point is not acceptable especially with the laser aspect of the peripheral. Because of that this mouse has not replaced the existing one I use on my laptop.

So it's not worthy of a purchase? No, I wouldn't say that. I think you need specific needs perhaps your USB connections are all filled up for example, and I probably need a faster laptop to fix the lag. With the right set up and the right situation a wi-fi mouse may be just what you're looking for and for the current low price point and extensive features 12 month claimed battery life, four-way scroll button, ambidextrous styling etc this could be just perfect. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would... as it stands 3 out of 5.

I think that, in theory, this was a great idea. After all, it frees up a USB port on your notbook computer, a precious commodity indeed in a world of portable mice, external wifi dongles, and flash drives, all clammoring for space in your computer's ports. So this mouse was something I really wanted to work, especially since I only have one free open port on my notebook. The installation went according to expectations and the device worked for a day or two. Then, after booting up my notebook, the mouse wouldn't work. I re-mated the mouse to the computer and it worked fine until the next time I had to wake my computer up from sleep. After that, it didn't work at all. I kept receiving the error that the application no longer worked. I attempted to reinstall the driver, but to no avail. Very disappointing in the end.

Pros:

*It's a great idea to save on USB space in your computer

*It was easy to install (the first time)

*The device does work for a little while...

Cons:

*...but quickly stopped working at all. That's a pretty fatal flaw.

*The user guide was really shallow, without any troublesoooting tips. I would have at least expected a better guide on the installation disc.

*Once it's dead, it's dead, and there's no coming back that I can find.

All in all, this would have been an OK product had it not died on me after three days. Those interested in the item may want to look for a wifi mouse solution elsewhere...I know I will be.

I'm a graduate student and I spend a lot of time in libraries poring through books that can't circulate (rare, antique, etc.) Some are not even allowed out of specific parts of the university library. This is the answer! I can just roll the wand over the pages, and then I can study the text in the comfort and convenience of my house. I will add a picture of a scanned page for review as a product image. I'll never go back.

Oh, it does eat batteries, but who cares...AAs are cheap.

I bought this scanner for the purpose of scanning pages out of law books at the library. After about two minutes' practice, it was a cinch. In fifteen minutes I was able to scan 30 pages' research, and later downloaded it all to my laptop as .PDF files. The resolution is great, and the scan quality was good enough to use in powerpoint presentations after cropping and magnifying with Microsoft Picture Manager. You can't get scans out of books with a page-fed portable, and a desktop model is too big to carry. Light years better than waiting for the library photocopier.

It has been way too long since anyone made a really usable hand scanner. I've been looking for one for years. So I was very excited when I saw a review of the 'Magic Wand' on one of my news feeds.

This product does the trick. You have to be fairly slow and steady to get a good scan, but hey... it's a hand scanner! So no surprise there. The scan quality is quite acceptable for a device of this type. Not what you would get from a flatbed scanner, but hey... it's a hand scanner! Print is readable, photo quality isn't fantastic but might improve as my scanning skills get better.

The scanner is bundled with 'ABBYY Screenshot Reader', which extracts text from an image. ABBYY is one of the major producers of optical character recognition (OCR)software. I have a document scanner that came with and ABBYY OCR program. But I have never seen a screenshot reader before. This product allows you to select an area on your computer screen, and it will extract text from that area and put it in your clipboard.

So when you scan an image with the 'Magic Wand', you can connect the scanner to your computer with a USB cable (included); open the image in a picture viewer; and use Screenshot Reader to capture the text.

You will probably have to do a bit of touch-up after you paste the text into another application. I have yet to see an OCR program that does perfect text conversion. One trick that helps a lot is to zoom in on the text to make it larger. OCR programs work better with larger text.

I am very pleased with the 'Magic Wand'. I keep it next to my laptop in the living room (yeah, I'm a multi-computer geek, and I do "side surfing" while I'm watching TV) so I can quickly scan things out of magazines or books. And it's small enough to toss in my computer bag when I'm on the road. Along with my Planon Printsitk portable printer (Planon Printstik PS950ME Label Printer Monochrome Direct Thermal), I've got a complete office in a bag!

I purchased this scanner to help in cataloging my DVD and book collections. Frequently I find that the default cover art which is downloaded by the catalog program doesn't match the actual item and all too often the correct image isn't available online. Taking books and DVDs from the library and living room to the flatbed scanner in the office so I can scan the cover art is tedious, so I thought this portable scanner might be a good solution. Unfortunately, the results weren't as good as I had hoped based on the other reviews I read here. It's not that the scanner is "bad" because it isn't really, it's just that it wasn't as easy to use as I had hoped.

Pros: The scanner is compact, reasonably priced and attractive. Reasonably good results can be achieved with practice.

Cons: In order to produce a good image, the scanner must be moved very carefully. Uneven motion, brief pauses, etc. basically anything short of consistent movement will cause distortion in the image.

I've uploaded two examples, one good and one bad, of a DVD cover scan (the movie "10" with Dudley Moore, Julie Andrews, and Bo Derek).

In conclusion, while the scanner is certainly compact and inexpensive, there are limitations which the buyer should be aware of before they decide to purchase.

This little device is way better than one would have any right to expect. There have been hand-held scanners in the past, and they have mostly been overpriced and frustrating toys.

This is not. It's a decent quality scanning device. Credit that to the drastic drops in fixed lens camera elements and ccd detectors over the past few years.

You can use this device, after a very modest learning curve, to scan things like text out of book, documents, receipts, etc. Basically, anything that is text based can be scanned pretty well with a little practice.

HOWEVER, this wand is NOT appropriate for scanning photos, blueprints, or any other source material that requires high precision. That's because you WILL have distortions in your scan. That's unavoidable due to the fact that it is impossible to ensure a 100% constant scan rate (or 100% straight path, for that matter) across your source material. For figures/pictures, there's no automated way to correct for this.

Bottom line: I'd recommend this highly to those who have the need for a portable scanner for text based documents. But I would STRONGLY advise against getting this if you expect to use it for photos/figures/blueprints or any other precision document.
