BoxWave nook (1st Edition) ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector - Premium Quality Anti-Glare, Anti

BoxWave nook ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector - Premium Quality Anti-Glare, Anti-Fingerprint Matte Film Skin to Shield Against Scratches - nook Screen Guards
  • Award Winning Anti-Glare nook (1st Edition) Screen Protector
  • Dust Repelling
  • Bubble-free Application
  • Fingerprint Free
  • Comes in two pieces: ClearTouch Anti-Glare for the main screen, and a ClearTouch Crystal for the touch screen controls

The application for these screen protectors is now and has always been a bit of an art. Your two major enemies are dust and finger grease (clean the screen well!). Your ally is scotch tape and a plan of attack. To get this thing installed right you need to avoid touching the side that adheres to the screen. I do this by rolling little scotch tape rings that I stick to the front of the protector. I use them to hold on to it without touching it. To get the edges lined up more easily, I stick the longest side on first, just the very edge of the protector, no more than a millimeter, and make sure its centered. Sometimes it takes twenty times to get the protector lined up just right, but since you're only sticking the very edge on, it's easy to remove and retry and in the end it is worth the trouble. Once you are satisfied with the way the protector is lined up, slowly SLOWLY proceed to stick the protector to the screen, try to remove any bubbles as they appear. If a bubble is really stubborn, take a close look at it. Can you see a little piece of dust or debris in the center of the bubble? If so, peel back the protector to expose the offending debris and use another tiny roll of tape, sticky side out, to dab the surface of the screen and/or the adhesive side of the protector to remove the dust particle. Then continue to apply the protector. The tape comes off with a slow controlled pull when you're done. That's all there is to it, just be patient and use some tape to remove offending dust and to keep your fingers off the sticky side of the protector. With patience and clever tape use you'll get these covers on and they'll look perfectly bubble free. They don't have any more glare than the screen itself so I don't think that's a big deal, at least they don't make it worse. Good luck, I hope this helped.

P.S. If you you were too hasty during application and have bubbles already, there is hope. You can stick a piece of tape to the corner of the protector and peel the protector away from the screen to where the bubbles are. Use some tape to remove the dust just like I described above. Then just lay the protector back down and remove the tape from the corner. If you touched the adhesive side though, you're out of luck. There is no fix for that. But now you know how to apply the protector correctly.

This screen protector may indeed protect the screen (I had no scratches before and none now, so how would I know?) but it definitely does *not* reduce screen glare nor is it any less susceptible to finger prints.

Application without leaving spots (air bubbles) is not possible.

The "Anti-Glare" should be removed from the name and description.

A big "meh" all around.

I bought this to protect my new nook. I have to say that the film for the larger screen was harder to install than I thought. My main piece of advice is to make sure that the reading screen is super clean before you install the protector. It is almost impossible to clean lint off of the sticky part and when you lift it off unless you are super careful it will leave a little kink in the film and it won't stick in that spot. As you can probably tell I am going to have to get another one. The smaller film for the touch screen was a lot easier to get on and went on nicely. If this happens to you you can buy just the film for the reading screen by getting the screen protector for the Kindle 2. I hope you have better luck than I did...

It was impossible to apply without lint under the screen. It has terrible glare. I had to remove it, it was impossible to read with it on my nook's screen.

Quick and to the point: Don't bother, unless you want a shiny, reflective, glossy surface on your e-reader. If you want something that is invisible, applies well, and has a truly matte coating on it, then choose either the official screen protector from B&N, or choose the M-Edge version which has more in one package and presents a slightly better value.

This one is only good for protecting your screen. It does nothing for the usability or readability, though.

Avoid and spring for the better quality. Seriously... You won't get much use out of this. It may be great for LCD, but this material is terrible on e-ink.

Belkin CAT 5E 24AWG SOLID PVC CB * 4PAIR; 1000 BLACK ( A7L504-1000-BLK )

Belkin CAT 5E 24AWG SOLID PVC CB * 4PAIR; 1000 BLACK
  • Product Type - CAT5e
  • White conductor has color band for easy pair identification.
  • Category 5e performance rated for any network application
  • Exceeds the performance requirement of Category 5e.
  • Cable Type - CAT5E patch

We paid ~$100 US for this product and are very happy with the purchase.

The quality of the wire really stands out. I know, it seems like wire is wire, but there are subtle details that can make a big difference.

-Color of each of the strands is very clear. Some CAT5/5e/6 cable will have faint colors or include only periodic striping of color+white conductors. This cable has it clearly marked.

-There is a perforated tear off on the box that gives you a window of sort to see how much cable you have left. This is nice, but not necessary since the cable is CLEARLY marked every 2ft with the length on the jacket.

Highly recommended

I purchased this product to link my Nokia 6085 with my computer using Nokia's free PC suite software. The cable works great. I have had no connection issues between my phone and PC. The Amazon price was great compared to AT&T stores and web.

Used tis CA-53 cable for my Nokia E60 mobile. Tried a couple of Nokia PC Suites versions but kept getting communication errors. Finally managed to get Nokia PC Suite Ver 3.3.36 and tis works for my E60. Note there are several CA-53 connectivity cables available on Amazon; but get one which lists the Nokia model that you will be using the cable with. Gave 4 star for tis review as I am yet to fully use the cable for all the PC Suite functions.

Looks like I had to have this cable if I wanted to put any pictures from my phone into the puter to send to someone...Either Nokia or TMobile decided to not include the cable in the package when I purchased the phone back in 85'....now that I have the cable I think I've only tried to download half a dozen pictures ...The cable works but now that I have it I don't use it...

rooCASE Slim-Fit (Red) Folio Case Cover with Hand Strap for Amazon Kindle Fire 7-Inch Android Tablet

rooCASE Slim-Fit Folio Case Cover with Hand Strap for Amazon Kindle Fire 7-Inch Android TabletThis case is quite nice--it protects the Fire and can be used as a stand. The only minor drawback is that it doesn't close completely (the edge opposite the spine sticks up about 1/2 inch when it is closed). I imagine that over time the spine will stretch out a bit so the case will lie completely flat.

Fantastic, perfect, excellent, wonderful, and best of all...affordable! The color is a great red (not pinkish or too bright). Easy to use. Love it!

New OEM Verizon Casio G'zone Ravine C751 Black Leather Fitted Case

New OEM Verizon Casio G'zone Ravine C751 Black Leather Fitted Case
  • Fitted Case

It's leather so, it's tough, but thin leather, so it doesn't add appreciable bulk.

The fit is very precious with cut-outs for the front screen, mic, temperature sensor, speaker, etc. in all the right places. (The one exception is the camera/LED flash cut-out, which can block the camera/LED a little when shifted. The hole could probably have been cut a little larger for slack.)

Thick clear plastic (vinyl?) protects the inside screen and keypad. Although it's optically transparent, I have to press the keys a little firmer now. The Ravine keypad without the plastic cover was still operable while wearing a (thin) glove but with the plastic cover it frequently registered my presses incorrectly.

The belt clip is a permanently attached part of the holster/case and will stay firmly at one of the 5 notched positions (180 degree range). The clip opening is such that it will slide easily over the thickness of pants or belt, but the opening will require a little stretching to get it over the thickness of both.) The clip itself feels like spring steel, hopefully durability won't be a long term issue (I've only used it a month at time of this writing.)

I had also considered the Ravine swivel belt clip but read that the phone is easily dislodged. I have yet to drop my Ravine off of my belt/pants with this fitted case.

pro's, the leather case fit's good.

con's, the hole's could be bigger for the camera Len's and the speaker.

the clip is low profile and it is permanent.

This is the same exact case we paid so much more for when we originally purchased this phone. After over a year of carrying it around on his belt, my husband's original case was in sad shape, as he works outdoors much of the time. You can no longer find this phone case in stores--all you can find is knock-off's that don't fit and don't hold up well. I was very pleased to find this original "Verizon" case at such a great price on-line.

I've been running 2 sets (64GB) for almost 3 months in an Asus Rampage IV Extreme + i7-3820 build. Do your homework before pushing the "buy" button. Review the mobo manufacturer's memory QV documentation (qualified vendors) to better ensure your sanity. "Invest" in a good power supply (stability, performance, build quality = $$) Also update your BIOS and continue to follow upgrade releases as they come to take advantage of tweaks & improvements over time.

The default published SPD speed is 1333mhz which is stated in their documentation and reported in your system BIOS. Over the past month, I found that manually forcing the speed to 1866 (letting the board set the timings) caused intermittent BSODs in Win8 64bit. However, when I set X.M.P. in BIOS I had no more issues.

Bottom Line: A very fast set of high density DIMMS that provide superior performance and look AWESOME paired with an Asus ROG motherboard (RED highlights throughout.)

Only problem is that it runs at 1333MHz instead of 1866Mhz.

Every time I try to overclock it, the motherboard changes it back to 1333Mhz because of some sort of failure....

Besides that, it works great. Great for RamDisk.

Acer Predator AG3620-UR308 Gaming Desktop (Black)

Acer Predator AG3620-UR308 Gaming Desktop
  • 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 processor 3.4GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology up to 3.9GHz (8MB Total Cache)
  • 12GB DDR3
  • 2 TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT630 with 2GB Discrete Video Memory
  • Windows 8

UPDATE #2: I have successfully replaced the GT 630 with a GTX 650 Ti SSC (SuperSuperClocked). I have seen a lot of people on here and the web complain that this computer cannot accept any video cards except the OEM, FALSE! Here's the secret to make it work. BEFORE taking out the GT 630 boot into the BIOS by pushing DEL when the Acer boot screen comes up before Windows 8 launches. You now need to look for something called "Secure Boot" and "Disable" that function. Now look for an option called "CSM" and enable that option and it should say legacy now. Now you can shut down the computer and install the GTX card. The first time you boot up the computer it may restart at the boot screen, but on the second boot it should boot fine. At first your resolution may look incorrect but this should auto-correct in a few seconds if you are using another nVidia 600 series graphics card. If you are using another series or brand, you are probably going to have to update the drivers. Upgrading to this card increased my WEI ratings for video from 6.7 to 7.4 (I might re-run the test now that the computer has been booted a few times). First thing, I tried Saints Row 3 on Ultra settings and 1600x900 resolution (should be adequate for 24" monitor), it looks beautiful and runs smooth! One last consideration when upgrading the video card, MEASURE the space you have to work. Some of the ATI cards give more bang for the buck but they are generally larger. They might still fit, but I decided to play it safe by getting the best of the 650's (Plus I'm NOT rich)... which is still a considerable improvement over the factory card.

UPDATE: I have now also tried Max Payne 3, Batman: Arkham City, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Microsoft Flight, MX vs. ATV Reflex, Portal 1 & 2, Serious Sam BFE and HD version of 1st & 2nd Encounter, Sleeping Dogs, The Sims 3, TrackMania Nations Forever, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Diablo 3, Titan Quest, and a few others I am sure I'm forgetting. All these games have run great with the factory nVidia GT 630. Some games you will have to turn down from 1080p to a lower but still HD resolution to get a decent frame rate, but I have mostly been able to leave texture, shadows, etc. on high or in some cases very high/ultra. If I get a job I am expecting, I will probably upgrade to a GTX card anyways, I'll let everyone know if it makes the noticeable difference I expect...

I see a lot of people nail pretty good computers if they have "gaming" in their product title but don't have a top of the line video card, even when they are priced as low as this one. Especially at the $800 sale price, this is a very good computer and will play most of the titles you also see on PS3 and XBOX 360 on high or above settings and 720p or above resolution. It is irrefutable that this is NOT a high-end graphics card, but it is enough to play most games on higher settings. I have tested Saints Row 2&3, Metro 2033, Red Faction Armageddon, STALKER, Minecraft, Duke Nukem Forever, and will continue to test over 20 games. I'll update if I have problems with any of them... I also wanted to note that on my 24" monitors I couldn't see any noticeable difference going from a 720p resolution to 1080p. Also, while I'm sure diehard gamers that know what they're looking for could tell the difference between high and ultra settings, I didn't really notice anything. So, if you're a casual gamer like me, I would recommend 720p and high settings for games even if they will run higher, this will keep the GPU temperature down and help the card last longer if you're not planning to upgrade it anyways. If you're a knowledgeable gamer and think these pre-built systems are junk, then build your own and quit bashing low-budget pre-built systems because they don't meet the technical standards of a customized high cost gaming system. I almost didn't buy this because of these "gamer" reviews, and I'm glad I blew them off. So far, I'm very happy with how this computer handles my games, especially since it cost $800 not $1,200, $1,600, $2,000 or more that some of the dual video card, water-cooled systems can cost.

Buy Acer Predator AG3620-UR308 Gaming Desktop (Black) Now

my first impression is, i'm not a fan of windows 8

that aside, i've uploaded a stock photo of the computer's inside, as it depicts the exact condition mine came in.

i immediately noticed the chassis is a pretty standard size, i was expecting a huge "gaming computer" and also the exterior isn't obnoxious in any way. another highlight is the 500w power supply is slightly higher than what some competitors are offering. the noticeable downside is it comes with an average graphics card. you'll notice the motherboard offers only 1 pci express slot sized x16 and 3 other pci express slots sized x1. there shouldn't be a problem upgrading to even a bulkier graphics card in the future, simply replace the current one and move the wifi to a slot farther down. also, the 12gb ram uses 3 of 4 memory slots so there is room to expand.

i'll say this system is a pretty good starter for gamers who are maybe considering a few upgrades down the road, the type of consumer who doesn't feel like building an entire system from scratch, but getting reasonable performance for a decent price

Despite having laptops and tablets, I find that I really do use a desktop most of the time. I was trying to decide between this Acer Predator and an HP Phoenix. The biggest difference between the two to me was the power supply. Although the 500 watt power supply for this machine is higher than some other brands, it is below the 600 watt and heat sink that the Phoenix offered.

The deciding factor for me was watching a video showing the interior of the HP Phoenix. The heat sink took up so much room that I knew that trying to replaced anything would be a nightmare for me. Compared to most of the desktops that I have had, the interior of this Acer Predator seems positively roomy. The picture that another reviewer posted shows it very clearly. I find the exterior size to be comparable to most of the desktops that I have had in the past.

What I also liked was the number of USB ports as well as the accessibility. I was adamant about wanting the third generation Intel I-7 processor and 12GB of RAM and thought this Predator offered the best value.

It comes with a cheap wired mouse and lightweight keyboard but I would advise upgrading the mouse to one designed for Windows 8 since using the tiles with a traditional mouse is really a pain.

I was a bit disappointed to see that there is no separate S/PDIF audio outlet but there is a convenient headphones outlet on top as well as the traditional speaker outlet on the back.

This is the first Acer product that I have owned and though I haven't had it very long, I am pleased with my purchase.

We bought this as a Christmas present in 2012. On February 3 it completely lost power and shut down. We tested the power supply and it was ok so I am going to assume the motherboard is bad. The machine itself is very nice and works well for gaming. I am just very dissapointed that after using it a little over a month it is dead. I am waiting to hear from Acer hopefully today to see what they say. You also have to pay the shipping to get the machine to them which was well over 50.00.

From other reviews I know this is not a normal thing, but before windows even loaded I was having issues with this computer. First time starting it up I went through the installation process and when it got to the last step to load everything it got stuck on "creating your account" for 45 minutes! After letting it sit for 40 minutes I called tech support, and right as they told me it must be frozen and to hold the power button down, it finished loading and she said to call back if I had more concerns. Later on the computer crashed and forced a shut down on itself when I pushed "ALT CTRL DEL." Afterward, programs would randomly freeze up and while they wouldn't work everything else would be fine. For 20 minutes or so I would simply use task manager to shut these off and restart the program, but eventually the computer crashed again and a shut down was forced. Later in the day I was downloading a game and it froze at 10% downloaded. I called tech support for the second time after having my computer for 5 hours and they requested I power down my computer with the power button located on the tower. After this I unplugged all the cables, replugged them, and restarted my computer. I was told to call back if another incident occurred. I went back to downloading the game and it resumed at 48%. I assumed it had been downloading even though the icon for the download was frozen and went along to finish the dll. After it was completed, 10% through the installation process an error occurred, saying there was missing files and that the ENTIRE game must be downloaded again (it was a 2hr download).

All in all, I've been suffering from serious lag, freezing processes, computer crashes, and unreliable information concerning the download.

Also, I'd like to mention that the driver for a LAN cable (Ethernet cable for internet) driver does not come with the computer and must be downloaded or transferred from another computer in order to plug in the internet.

I wish I could give a 5 star review and again, I doubt you will have all of these problems. But after all the trouble this computer has given me and considering it's still only day one.. I had to write a review to raise awareness of the possibilities.

PalmOne Tungsten T Handheld

PalmOne Tungsten T Handheld
  • Reflective TFT color screen with brightness control and support for more than 65,000 colors
  • ARM-based Texas Instrument OMAP1510 processor
  • Integrated Bluetooth Radio and Antenna
  • What's in the box: Palm Tungsten T handheld, stylus, protective cover, USB HotSync cradle, power supply (120 VAC)
  • Palm Tungsten T handheld with Palm's dual-expansion technology, which includes the Palm Expansion Slot for SD Cards, SDIO and MultiMediaCard media.

There are a number of reviews on the 'Net already about this much-anticipated device, and I won't claim to make yet another. Just some interesting observations from a week of ownership:

1) I have found only a single program (Skyscape 5-minute clinical consultant) that does not like OS 5. All others so far work like a charm, including LOTS of medical software.

2) While the OS itself really is not much different, the processor has really revolutionized the Palm handhelds. Example: using Tabers medical dictionary on my m505 was a chore, and looking up a word often took >30 seconds. Now I write in real time and get word lookups in 1-2 seconds.

3) My handwriting recognition (Graffiti) is MARKEDLY improved over the m505.

4) The screen is UNBELIEVABLE! Fantastic, useable under all lighting conditions.

5) The battery life is just fine. I do recharge nightly, but I use it a good 2 hours each day, with the backlight at 50% all the time, and rarely get to below a 70% charge.

6) The sliding design is very sturdy. Also, it just FEELS much better in my hands.

7) The D-pad is a huge improvement, and I think more than makes up for Sony's Jog Dial.

8) Voice recording feature is very nice.

9) Does not come with mp3 software built-in, though word is that Real will be releasing an mp3 player for Palm in the coming weeks that will be available free.

10) Only gripe is that Versamail STILL does not synch e-mail with my Mac...

11) Palm has all but said that this device will be OS6 upgradable, which you can't bank on from the Sony products.

Buy one, you will definitely not be disappointed.

The m550 or more commonly known as the Tungsten T is refreshing addition to the Palm product line. It's been a while since Palm took a step in innovation but the Tungsten T is certainly a move in the right direction. If this is a preview of things to come for Palm or OS5 then things really do look bright for the PDA industry. However as great as the Tungsten may be, I think it would be premature to pick up a OS5 unit at this point in time and in the OS's life cycle.

Being the holiday season many PDA manufacturers, particularly Palm OS units, historically don't release any major units. New units generally come out in the 1st and 3rd quarters of the year. This will hold true for Palm and Sony.

If you are a first time buyer the Tungsten would be ok but at that price range you might be better off with a T665C or even an SJ30. If you are looking to upgrade, just hold out for a few more weeks. There is nothing worse then picking up a new PDA and to have a new one introduced only days after.

Despite all negative feedback on its price, it still is an amazing unit. Although i am not a big fan of the flip or even the slider design, the compactness of the Tungsten T is difficult to ignore. As Palm research have shown, the grafitti area is used only about 20% of the time so tucking it away shouldn't pose too much of a problem. However I personally would have prefered a virtual grafitti for more real estate as opposed to a "sliding away" grafitti area.

With many objections on a slider design on many fan sites and user groups Palm went ahead and developed on for their flagship OS5 unit. They felt that if they construct it well enough that they can convince people that the huge decrease in overall volume will be greatly appreciated. (After all it was the ultra slim design of the V that took the industry by storm.) And construct it well they did. The sliding action is smooth and firm with a noticable "clicking" noise to indicate that it is fully open or closed. The material which was used to construct the unit is of good quality and the multidirectional pad is a great addition. But i think the best feature of the Tungsten T (which is not present in ANY OS5 unit to date) is the integrated bluetooth.

Lastly as for OS5, there are many comments about its compatibility with pre-OS5 applications. Many major apps have already been updated. You just need to find the right ones to install. All OS4 optimized apps will work on OS5. Only the apps made for the older OS3 might encounter some problems.

As i always say before you go out and pick up any PDA, i strongly suggest you take it for a test drive and read LOTS of reviews. As for this unit, i think you should just wait a few more weeks. At the very least let the christmas crunch pass. However if you have money to waste, this is not a bad buy at all.

Read Best Reviews of PalmOne Tungsten T Handheld Here

I've had several Palm PDAs and Pocket PCs, and I'm a big fan of them. The new Palm Tungsten for the first time brings the same resolution as the Sony CLIE models along with the Bluetooth technology to the table, and in a small package, and with good screen brightness.

The screen is much better than the M505, but it looks about the same as the M515, which was much better. However, even the M515 can't beat the now aging but still amazing brightness of the original Palm IIIc, which still has the brightest screen of any PDA, although the Handspring Prism's looks to be just as bright.

I compared the screen also to the Sony PEG T665C, and the Sony's is still noticeably brighter, but the Palm's is still very good. Also, the Palm had the nicer screen font. The font was thicker and easier to read than the Sony's, which looks light and thin and a little grainy by comparison, but I don't know if this can be fixed with a custom font package, of which there are several.

I think the big appeal of this model will be the smaller footprint, which fits easily in your front shirt pocket, where I like to carry mine. I compared the Palm with the Sony SJ30, which is its only competition in this form factor, and they are very similar in terms of size. I compared both of them side by side, and the Palm looks to be a tiny bit wider and about the same height, but they're both very close. The Palm costs almost twice the money because of the built-in Bluetooth technology. Also, the Sonys have the jog-wheel feature, which makes them almost capable of single-handed operation.

Both the Sonys and the Palm have a slightly milky appearance to the screen, like my Compaq iPAQ 3650, so I suspect they both have partially back-reflective screens, but I'm not certain about that.

Also, the drop-down graffiti area is pretty cool. I might prefer this to the virtual one on the Sony NR70 and 70V models. My only complaint is that the Graffiti area, at least for the numbers area, seems to be slightly narrower than I'm used to. The unit has a nice, metallic blue finish which makes it more attractive than any other Palm model up to this point. And last but not least, the five-way navigation button and the voice recorder features are useful also, which again, makes this model more competitive with the innovative Sony models.

Overall, this is a great PDA from Palm that should give the Sonys a run for their money, and I'd actually give it 4.5 stars if I could. And the only reason I subtract half a star is the unit's relative expensiveness compared to the Sony T615C, T655C, and T665C models, but again, this is mainly due to the Bluetooth technology, so it's not really comparable to the Sony's in this regard. But if you don't think you need it, the Sonys offer the same features without Bluetooth for less money.

Overall, however, a great PDA from Palm and probably the best thing they've done yet.

Want PalmOne Tungsten T Handheld Discount?

As a computer geek and a person who really enjoys PDAs, I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Palm's new ARM-based line of handhelds. When the Tungsten T hit the market, I was enthralled. It looked like a fascinating product, and I decided it was finally time to upgrade. While the price tag is a bit high, in my opinion the money I spent on the TT all went to a worthy cause.

This model has a beautiful high-resolution color screen. It's also screamingly fast, and I have certainly noticed a difference in speed from my old Palm Vx. I like to use hefty database-type applications such as Pilot-DB and BibleReader, so the added speed is a great benefit to me. It also has great sound, and I look forward to having more multi-media software for this thing. It is not disappointing at all! One of the neatest improvements over older models is that it has become very possible to use all of the included PalmOS apps (such as DateBook, AddressBook, etc) with one hand using just the multi-directional D-Pad.

While at first the dimensions of the TT might seem odd, it feels very comfortable in one's hand. It has a bit more heft to it than my old Vx, and while thicker is much shorter and slimmer. It feels more substantial, which I like.

Now for the drawbacks! Being so new, there is unfortunately lots of old software for earlier Palms that seems to have problems. While most of my favorites moved over to PalmOS 5 and the ARM architecture without problem, a few of them have failed to work correctly. Among these are AvantGo and Quickoffice. However, it seems more common for software to work as expected. DateBK5, Space Trader, iSilo, Pilot-DB, and many others work as expected. Oh yes, and old PalmOS hacks which worked with HackMaster and X-Master also no longer work.

Most of the drawbacks will undoubtedly be solved in a matter of time. I am very pleased with my purchase, and certainly think that the Tungsten T is worthy of its five stars.

Save 44% Off

The Palm Tungsten T is a great piece of hardware, but having switched from the Pocket PC platform, the software doesn't quite pass muster. While the new Palm OS 5 is not great, neither is the Pocket PC. The Palm OS keeps it simple, whereas the Pocket PC suffers from an over zealous interface (all it's missing is a wallpaper with palm trees and a pina colada). The Tungsten T also seems to operates faster than many Pocket PC, even given the more powerful processors that are standard in Pocket PCs. It's worth pointing out here that standard entertainment software for the Pocket PC (and Sony Clie Palm) is noticeably missing in the Tungsten T bundle, such as an MP3 player and video playback (MP3 player is now available for download on the RealNetworks website). Many competing PDAs now include either Bluetooth or WiFi (but not both). It seems like Palm is entrenched in Bluetooth for mobile computing, whereas more Pocket PCs now include WiFi, such as the new HP IPAQ, and the Toshiba e740 and e755. In April 2003, SanDisk is coming out with an innovative combination WiFi/128MB SD card that should solve this deficiency; a combination WiFi/256 MB SD card will also be released (both at reasonable prices). They are said to work with Palm OS 5.

Overall, the Tungsten T is worth the price (especially after the price drop) because the hardware is very well designed and has only one minor software flaw. The hardware's great design beats out the software's many setbacks. If you're not a demanding user, but want a small PDA for a reasonable price, then this is the PDA for you. For advanced users, you'll have to evaluate competing Palm and Pocket PC PDAs on price, features, design and portability.

The points I allocate are given in staples [points]

Hardware "Excellent," Total of +9.5 points

Here's a breakdown of the hardware, by importance:

+ The smallest PDA on the market, elegant and slim [3]

+ Sharp screen, bright colors [2]

+ Great design and slider concept (albeit borrowed from the Sharp Zaurus) [2]

+ Fast processor [2]

+ Bluetooth [2]

+ Recorder microphone is built in. Record your classroom lectures or boardroom meetings [2]

+ One of the lightest PDAs on market [1]

+ Finally, a Palm with a headphone jack. The volume with headphones connected is not very loud and audio quality is average. Headphone jacks come standard on Pocket PC PDAs as well as Sony Clie PDAs. PDAs such as the HP IPaqs are significantly louder and more clear. [1]

+ SD card reader [1]

+ 2 groves on sides are used to dock Palm Tungsten T into leather cases, etc. This innovation eliminates the need to use Velcro or to use bulkier cases that hug your PDA. [1]

+ 5 way navigator is neat, haven't found a use for it yet though. [0.5]

~ Speakers are loud, but not all that clear [neutral]

Short battery life, clocks about 3 hours [3]

Only 16 MB of RAM included. You can install most of the bundles programs, but you'll run into space constraints. [2]

No 802.11b capabilities (WiFi) [1.5]

Same tired cradle design. It has 2 cables, 1 for USB connection to your computer, 1 for power. This cumbersome layout prevents you from charging your Palm without the cradle. Big disadvantage when you're traveling, etc. [1.5]

Software "Mediocre," Total of -1.5 points

Pros & Cons of OS 5 Software, by importance:

+ All the basics are included, including Documents to Go (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a few games, web browser, Bluetooth software, Acrobat Reader, Arcsoft Photobase, Voice recording, and Email software [3]

+ Graffiti is fantastic [2]

+ Simple to operate [2]

+ Clean design [1]

~ Unparalleled 3rd party software support for Palm; but Palm OS 5 is not backward compatible with Palm OS 4 software. [neutral]

No MP3 software bundled with player. The RealOne Palm Tungsten T MP3 media player was released late March, 2003 on RealNetwork's website. Average player without the bells and whistles. No powersaving feature or other extra features. Can't play other file formats [1.5]

Design flaw: "Home" button is on graffiti area, and you can't assign a button to "home". This means that when the slider is up, you can't change tasks (unless task is assigned to 1 of 4 buttons). For example, you can't switch from a game you're playing to the web browser when slider is up and graffiti area is hidden. [2]

Web browser is mediocre. You can surf the Web using Bluetooth to connect to a GPRS (2.5 G) phone, but setup for each session takes a few minutes. I tested Yahoo! Mail, ESPN, Cnet and Washington Post. Graphics are crisp, but web pages are not formatted for Palm. For example, while you can reduce the font size, I couldn't find a way to uniformly reduce the graphics on a Web page, or uniformly scale down a page that is wider than the 320x320 pixel screen, and you have to scroll sideways on many pages. You also can't open multiple browser windows to surf the Web (which would have been useful when I was trying to add email address in Yahoo! mail). [2]

Bundled organizer software has fewer features than Pocket PC (can't assign multiple categories to a contact; can't choose how long to snooze a reminder). [2]

No bundled video software (MPEG2 or AVI/MPEG 4). [1]

Email lacks SSL support. I managed to set up my main email account, but couldn't find the Secure Socket Layer options necessary for one of my email accounts. [1]

Thought Out PED3-Auto-IT Steel Car Mount (iPod touch 4g, 3g, 2g, 1g)

Thought Out PED3-Auto-IT Steel Car Mount
  • Protective vinyl covers allow full use of ports/controls and works with many thin cases and skins
  • Rotate infinitely 360 degrees. 5/16" diameter x 5 inch steel flexible neck for endless positioning
  • Base, with concealed fasteners and 0°, 45° & 90° mounting for a clean look. Includes AdPad-vhb adhesive pad, suction cup mount and screw mount
  • High quality solid steel and solid molded construction. Baked on hard anti-scratch coating
  • Interchangeable with NAJA King and PED3

Works well. I ended up using the adhesive backed mount after trying the suction mount.

Buy Thought Out PED3-Auto-IT Steel Car Mount (iPod touch 4g, 3g, 2g, 1g) Now

After a lot of searching and wasting money, I came across this iPod Touch holder. I have owned multiple iPod holders, and this is by far the best.

It offers multiple mounting options: suction cup, screw mount, or "Adpad" double sided adhesive (which is what I chose with good success). It allows you to choose exactly where you want your iPod. Others restrict you to your winshield, cupholder, cigarette lighter, etc....

The iPod stays very secure and the goose neck is stiff enough that the iPod does not move around. You can also adjust the holder so that you can leave your iPod case on when placing your iPod in the holder.

A bit pricey, but if you add up all $$$ I spent on cheaper solutions, this would be a bargain.

Read Best Reviews of Thought Out PED3-Auto-IT Steel Car Mount (iPod touch 4g, 3g, 2g, 1g) Here

I installed this in my 325 XiT and I have never been able to get it into a comfortable position for my touch. So I stopped using it. I think if I had been better with the placement it could have worked out. The unit is solid but the flex is only meant to hold a 90 degree angle. You cannot turn this holder any farther and expect it to hold it's shape. For a straight to 90 degree angle application I think this unit would work great but I already drilled the screws into my interior :(

So if you are careful how you mount this holder it can be perfect! Not an easy task with all of the rounded corners in todays interiors .

  • 2GB memory stick gaming card turns the PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld game device into a fully loaded multimedia entertainment unit

  • Download games from the PlayStation 3 onto SanDisk¿s Gaming Memory Stick and play them on your PSP
  • Play your favorite videos and listen to digital music

Works well and was much cheaper online than anywhere I could buy it locally. My only complaint is that SanDisk could give much better information regarding specific applications of their product. I had to cross-check with several different sites to be 100% certain that this memory stick would work with my son's Sony PSP. It does and we're pleased.

3in1 Metal 3-Pack Stylus for Palm Treo 750 755P
  • 3in1 3-Pack Metal Stylus w/Pen
  • For Palm Treo 750 755P SmartPhones

I'd lost my OEM stylus quite some time ago, and had been making-do with whatever I could. Unfortunately, I still had this 'hole' on the top of my Palm Treo, letting in dust and junk that probably isn't good for the phone.

I'd had a 'pen' stylus for earlier Palm devices so when I finally went looking for a replacement, that was a requirement. This Pen Stylus (set of 3) filled the bill exactly. It works great as a stylus (much more accurate than my fat-fingers!), and now I can have a pen with me always, w/o having to look like I should be wearing a pocket-protector too. ;-)

I'll never buy a 'plain' stylus again. :-)

Baofeng UV-3R USB Programming Cable

Baofeng UV-3R USB Programming Cable
  • Used for Baofeng UV-3R Handheld Transceiver
  • Program radio manually
  • Compact wire

The cable itself is just fine. It appears to mimic a Prolific cable, but not 100% perfectly. At some point, Prolific updated its drivers to fail this cable. (Understandable. Who wants to provide software for one's competitors?)

If you have Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, 32-bit, with Service Pack 1, the following will work. (It will probably work for other Win7 configurations; this is the only one I've personally done.)

1. Go to the Yahoo Group for UV-3). (Sorry, Amazon reviews don't let me enter a URL.)

2. Join that group. Wait to be approved by the moderator.

3. Go to the Files section for that group.

4. Navigate to the "409shop USB Driver" folder.

5. From inside that folder, download usb_drivers_win7.zip

6. Extract the contents of the zip file (PL2303_Prolific_GPS_AllInOne_1013.exe).

7. Run that .exe and install the software.

8. Go to Device Manager, and navigate to "Other devices" > "USB-Serial Controller". If it exists, right-click on it and delete it.

9. Ensure that you cable is plugged in.

10. In Device Manager, click the Action menu and select "Scan for hardware changes".

11. Under "Ports (COM & LPT)" you should now see "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COMx)"

12. Connect your radio to the cable and turn on the radio.

13. Download Chirp 0.2.2 from its web site. Install it. Run it.

14. From Chirp's "Radio" menu, choose "Download from Radio". If it works, you've demonstrated that the cable and drivers work.

I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because SainSonic really ought to put this on a printed insert in the envelope with the cable. (Note to SainSonic: Feel free to copy my instructions and include them in your shipment.)

Buy Baofeng UV-3R USB Programming Cable Now

After some initial frustration and fear that either the cable or the radio (both purchased together from this seller) might be dysfunctional, I had success with it on both Windows XP running under Fusion with Mac OS Lion and also with Windows 7 on my wife's laptop. You need to understand that this is not a straight forward procedure as many may presume...

I recommend joining the Yahoo group for the Baofeng UV-R3 for the wealth of information and the fact that you can download the requisite software and drivers for this cable there. My procedure that proved successful is outlined in the Yahoo group posting #6492.

There is a bad review of the cable here at Amazon that I nearly chimed in on but persistence paid off. There is also a comment that this cable has a counterfeit Prolific chip to which I can not deny as I have not been able to get this cable to work with the genuine Prolific drivers using Chirp 0.2.2 running on Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) as yet. And Yes, there is software for the Baofeng UV-3R that runs on a Mac...

What I can attest to is that the cable works under Windows with drivers from the Yahoo group mentioned above.

Read Best Reviews of Baofeng UV-3R USB Programming Cable Here

I just got the cable this week but no drivers were included and the ones off the internet don't seem to work. I'll try and reach the sainstore for more info, but unless they resolve the driver issue I would not recommend buying this cable.

Want Baofeng UV-3R USB Programming Cable Discount?

This works great. Only con would be the drivers may take some people a little while to get right.

This is just a USB to Serial adapter incase anyone is wondering. Opened it with putty (didn't bother figuring out the baud rate) and data started scrolling across the screen like you'd expect.

The download software works fine as well.

Impressed for the price of the radio that this whole setup works as well as it does.

Save 20% Off

I ordered this but it doesn't work. It uses a Chinese clone chipset and not the real Proficient chipset, so it will not work with current drivers. I don't want to go backwards in drivers because I use RS-232 for many different systems, and need current operating drivers. Don't buy this unless you plan to track down old drivers and revert back to them.

BlueAnt S4 True Handsfree Speakerphone & Wireless Bluetooth 2.1

BlueAnt S4 True Handsfree Speakerphone & Wireless Bluetooth 2.1
  • To activate the S4, all you have to do is say the hands-free trigger phrase "BlueAnt Speak to Me" and the S4 will be ready for your voice commands.
  • Hear Your Messages on the Go: The S4 integrates with Vlingo SafeReader so that you can hear incoming text messages read aloud.
  • A2DP Streaming: The S4 features integrated A2DP streaming audio functionality, so you can listen to music or podcasts and hear turn-by-turn direction information from a GPS application on your phone.
  • Free Android Application: Users with Android devices can further enhance their BlueAnt S4 by installing the BlueAnt S4 Android application.
  • 3.7V Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery, Up to 20 hrs talk time; 700 hrs Standby time; 3-4 Hours charging time;
  • To make a call just say "Phone Commands". Also features embedded audio help that talks you through the setup and pairing process.
  • The application provides text message readout directly into the headset and includes help and support for your S4.
  • Once the Vlingo SafeReader application is installed on your BlackBerry® or AndroidTM 2.x smartphone, your incoming messages will be read out automatically as they come in.

First a short note for WP7 users. BlueAnt does work with WP7 even though nothing on the packaging or their website indicates it. And, after I updated my phone with the "Mango update" and changed a couple of WP7's settings (speech and ease-of-access), the BlueAnt now announces, reads, and responds to text messages too!

I love my BlueAnt and use it regularly. It took a few days to remember the commands but it now comes naturally. For example, I say "BlueAnt speak to me", it says "Say a command" then I say "Phone Commands". That starts WP7 on my phone to "listening". I then say for example "text John Smith", and WP7 takes it from there "say your message"...

BlueAnt does an excellent job of pairing and range is good too. I've found I like to clip it to my belt while working on projects around the house so I don't have to drop everything to answer my cellphone.

The only "cons" I can think of are the charge cable that comes with it is very short. It is a standard mini-USB though so you can use another if you have one. Also, it hasn't bothered me, but background noise does infrequently activate the voice command mode causing BlueAnt to say "Say your command". I just say "Cancel".

We've had a lot of fun with it too.

Me: BlueAnt, Speak to me.

BlueAnt: Say your command

Me: Disintegrate the vehicle blocking my path.

BlueAnt: (silence)

Me. Cancel

BlueAnt: Cancelled

Wife: LOL

The BlueAnt did not arrive in a retail package as described by the seller. It was packaged in a small plastic baggy with the instructions; an AT&T car charger and only one visor clip. Putting aside the sellers performance which I feel was poor, the BlueAnt itself meets expectations as a handsfree unit. It pairs with the phone easily. Call answering is easy with either voice command or touch control. In-call volume and clarity are excellent. Placing calls can be problematic as it is dependent upon your phones voice control capability although last number dialed and call-back for last call received work. Acceptable handsfree performance is therefore VERY dependent on the bluetooth and voice command/control capabilities of your phone.

The S4 came as expected. No issues and works great! I have it set where it automatically connects when I get in my car. It works so good that I have to turn it off when I go in a restaurant or store.

I'm disappointed with this product. We had a previous version of the unit and really liked it. But this unit has disappointed. The older version had two buttons, one to make a call and another to hang up. This new one is 'hand free' and doesn't have buttons, great idea but doesn't work good for me. Having to say 'Blueant speak to me' then various command to make a phone call. I have a 50/50 chance of getting it call the person I want on the first try. It is frustrating saying 'BlueAnt speak to me' and nothing happening, then only to have issues once I say who I want to call. The second set of issues may be with my phone but the process is frustrating. I would prefer the 'manualiness' of a couple buttons.

Targus PA765U ThumbPad Keyboard

Targus PA765U ThumbPad Keyboard
  • Clips on to the bottom of the serial port of your PDA
  • Cohesive union between PDA & Keyboard allows for convenient typing
  • Ideal for short messages, notes, & PIM maintenance
  • Limited One Year Warranty
  • Dimensions: 2.3" x 3.4" x 0.9"

The ThumbPad is very lightweight, but seems quite durable. The Visor slides into a nice solid dock with the ThumbPad, unlike other mini-keyboards I've seen where the connection is very tenuous, and you have to be really careful to support the unit to avoid putting any weight on the connection. With the ThumbPad the can just hold the keyboard, which easily supports the weight of the Visor for comfortable typing.

The keyboard layout has a pretty big flaw. There's only one shift key, at the lefthand side. Would including a shift key on the right side as well have increased the size of the unit by that much? Punctuation is accessed using the "function" key, and, you guessed it, there's only one, on the lefthand side, right next to the quotation mark and apostrophe, making it very awkward to type these symbols. If there were shift and function keys on each side, you wouldn't have to shift your grip on the ThumbPad and it would be much more comfortable.

My biggest frustration with the ThumbPad is a non-fatal but annoying bug. If the ThumbPad is idle too long (on the order of ten seconds), the PDA stops accepting input from the keypad. I have to turn off the PDA, and turn it back on by pressing a key on the ThumbPad, and then I can continue typing normally. My email to tech support has not yet been returned (though it's only been a few days). I had a similar small bug with a different Targus keyboard in the past, which was never resolved, so I think I'll be avoiding their products in the future (when possible--the Visor user doesn't have a LOT of options for peripherals!)

Buy Targus PA765U ThumbPad Keyboard Now

The Targus ThumbPad is an external thumbboard that attaches to your Palm via the Universal Connector at the bottom. Rather than covering the buttons and Graffiti area, it extends a couple of inches beneath the handheld, which amazingly rests firmly in place. The ThumbPad is made of plastic and is very light.

It's not nearly as functional as the full-size folding keyboards -useful extra keys like "New" and "OK" aren't there, but that's to be expected with a keyboard this size. More perplexing, however, is the absence of parenthesis keys. You do have to reach for the stylus and the Palm's own buttons from time to time, and you must resist the temptation to use the ThumbPad's directional keys in the Apps menu -they don't page up and down.

The fact that the ThumbPad flares outward from the Palm's base gives the keyboard more room and allows the keys to be bigger than the keys that PDAs with built-in thumbboards have. Key action is very nice, as nice as the Tungsten W or C (but with more room) and far nicer than Sony Clie thumbboards. I find typing surprisingly quick. I would have preferred to see sticky Shift, Fn and Control keys, like some built-in thumbboards, since holding down two keys at once is awkward on a keyboard of this type.

Overall I'm quite pleased with this little thumbboard, and look forward to using it to send SMS when my Palm Bluetooth card arrives.

This review was drafted on a Palm m505 using the ThumbPad.

This product is NOT made for the original iPad as stated in the description. It even states on the package that it's for the iPad 2 VERY IRRITATING!!!

I'm really confused by all these negative reviews I'm wondering if we even received the same product. These covers are great! They really are anti-glare; it's not quite as good as the glare-free surface you get from an ink-reader, but it really diffuses the light. I was surprised by how well it worked.

I think the negative reviewers just don't know how to use the covers you've got to make sure the screen is completely free of dust before you try to put it on; when you begin application, DO NOT TOUCH, EVEN A TINY BIT of the static-y side after you take off the first plastic cover sheet; make sure you have a credit card handy and really press down hard to scrape out all the air bubbles before, and after, you remove the second plastic cover. And do make sure you remove the second plastic cover! Otherwise it will not be anti-glare.

Don't pay twenty-five dollars for one screen protector!

Very happy! It cuts the glare tremendously. Although some instructions may have been helpful! I am not the best at keeping air bubbles out!

I bought these for the ePad by Android, rather than the iPad, and they fit very nicely. You just need to be very careful when you out the covers on, as to not get fingerprints behind the cover. Follow the instructions and you should be alright!

Cover and pen it came with works okay. The 8 pin connector does not work so very disappointed since this is one of the main reasons I bought it.

First, the online picture shows a grey case but when I received my package it was black. I guess that was my mistake as you really have to dig to find out what color you're ordering as it is not stated in your shopping cart during checkout. It's tucked away in some small print that's nowhere even obvious for you to find. Second, after only a week using the case I found that its extremely poorly made. The edge around the case is already fraying like old denim jeans with strings of materials hanging from it. The inside of the case has already become unglued and falling apart. The 2 protective screen it ships with are not worth. To wrap it up, save your money and look elsewhere, the product is extremely cheaply made and will fall apart in 2 weeks.

Received incorrect merchandise. Supposed to be for Ipad 4. Received case that fits Ipad mini. Now company expects me to pay for return shipment. Very unfair. Very unhappy customer.
