JAVOedge Austin Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch (Purple)

JAVOedge Austin Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch
  • Specifically made for the Barnes & Noble Nook Touch Reader
  • Built-in kickstand is easily propped open for hands-free reading
  • Magnetic closure allows for hassle free access to your Nook Touch Reader
  • Design of the Case allows for complete access to the screen and device features

This product is very useful. It protects the Nook when not in use, by covering the glass front. While reading the Nook while lying down, the case with the extra foldout leg, can stand up in a comfortable way so that one does not have to hold the Nook while reading. Incidentally, I did not find this cover among the products exhibited by Barnes and Noble.

Buy JAVOedge Austin Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch (Purple) Now

When I first bought my Nook Simple Touch I planned on just using it as-is, since it is so incredibly light and easy to carry that it seemed almost a shame to add a case to it. But, after lugging it around the house and to the gym a few times, it started to feel more and more fragile and I noticed more chances for it to get scratched, dropped, cracked, etc.

I looked at a lot of cases and settled on the JAVOedge Austin flip case. Out of the box, I will say that I was a little concerned with how bulky the case felt. Part of this is just the nature of adding any case to such a small ereader, and part of it is because the extra kick-stand on the back adds a little more thickness than usual. For the first few days while I got used to it I told myself I would just use the case when taking it outside, and would slip the Nook out and use it without the case around the house. It has been a few weeks now and I have yet to take the Nook back out.

I love the softness of the fabric on this case it feels nice in your hand and seems to be pretty high quality for the price. The Nook definitely feels secure and protected, but it is still easy to access all of the buttons and ports as-needed. And the kick stand on the back, while initially bulky, has become one of my favorite features. It's really easy to set this case upright on a table or on your chest if you're lying in bed so you don't have to hold it non-stop while reading. A first world problem, maybe, but if you read a lot and don't mind the extra bulk it adds to the case, it's worth it.

Would give this 4.5 stars if I could.

  • 2100 joules of AC surge suppression shields equipment from the strongest surges and line noise

I bought this to power down the little power bricks on my electronics. There's too little space between the outlets to get multiple bricks plugged in next to each other.

Beyond that, the thing works as it is intended to work.

I also have a Belkin remote control power strip. The Belkin has much more space between the outlets, allowing more power bricks to be plugged in, and some next to each other. I also like the remote switch better on the Belkin, switch is styled more like a wall light switch. When I come home and turn it on, it's an easy, thoughtless push of the switch. W/the Tripp Lite, I have to pay little more attention to which button is on and which is off. OK, it's a minor issue, but I'm just mentioning it.

This works great to help me conserve energy and control my vampire chargers. I use this for my daily electronics usage. I have my phone/tablet chargers plugged into the outlets that are remote controlled and my laptop plugged into the always-on outlet. No more wasteful chargers pulling power when not needed... and no more having to deal with the strip. The little remote stays on my desk and a push of a button turns power on or off as needed. I wish there were more devices like this.

works great I push one button and all of my AV gear in the living room lights up amplifier/flat screen/blueray/cabinet cooling fans. I actually got a second one for my exercise room too. Before, with everything on stand-by, my AV enclosure was running at about 83 F. It also has some un-switched outlets for devices that you need on standby (cable box/modem/router).

Whoever wrote the previous review most likely just wanted to sell their case or something.

This line in particular is incorrect:

The case attaches to the clie similar to the standard flip cover with the plastic prongs in the back.

I just bought the case from one of the "used" section. It's new though, and definitely doesn't have any prongs. All it has is the little leather flab, which to me is quite disappointing. If you open the case to use your pda, there will be nothing holding the case to the pda. It'll just flap around even more than the original cover did (which at least had the prongs to hold the case in) and just be another annoying thing to carry while you're trying to use your pda.

Anyways, that's a pretty big annoyance for me, but if you don't mind, then it's fine in every other respect.

SanDisk SDCFB-128-A10 CompactFlash 128 MB

SanDisk SDCFB-128-A10 CompactFlash 128 MB
  • 128 MB CompactFlash
  • Removable data storage system
  • Ultracompact
  • Industry-standard compatibility
  • For use in digital cameras, PDAs, HPCs, personal communicators, and MP3s

I have one of these for use in a Nikon Coolpix 995 digital camera.

At the highest resolution, 2048x1536, you can average about 100 shots on the card before you have to start deleting pics to free up space.

Who needs such a huge card? Well, I prefer to use a larger CF card and take the highest-rez pic possible, rather than play around adjusting resolutions out in the cold and rain. Who knows you may get that 'killer pic' you want to blow up to 11x14, and only realize it once you're back at your computer! You can always rescale a picture down later.

With this card, I can go on vacation and take a week's worth of pics, no problem, no fussing around with swapping cards. This card is great!

Buy SanDisk SDCFB-128-A10 CompactFlash 128 MB Now

I bought this 128 meg card for my nikon coolpix 990 figuring to boost up my number of pictures I take from an 80 meg lexar card. I heard sandisk was an overall good company so I decided to try it. Once I ran out of room on my 80 meg lexar card, I popped in my new 128 sandisk card and started to take pictures. Boy was I surprised when it took the camera forever to take another picture. I usually have my digital camera in a mode to take many pictures once I hold down the button but it took over twice as long to snap those pictures. Also in play mode when looking at the pictures I took it seemed like the images were pixelated for a second then became more detailed. Oh well I guess this memory card will go into my mp3 player instead.

I was looking for the cheapest digital camera I could find that would take adequate shots of small collectibles for listing on eBay. I bought the Argus 3200 at a great price, knowing it had almost no internal memory. A second problem was that my older system has no USB port. My solution was to buy the SanDisk 128 MB flash card, and a card reader that plugs into the printer port--both from Amazon. Both have worked fine for me so far. At this time, a 32 MB card would be adequate for my purposes, but I don't regret buying the extra capacity--and the 128 costs little more than a 64. The SanDisk card arrived in three days-with no shipping charge--and the price was much better than off the rack in my own city.

I poped into my Axim and downloaded 25 songs (approx 5 MB/song) and it worked like a champ. No problem so far. But instead of 128 MB it showed the total capacity as 122.10 MB. I sent an email to sandisk customer service and I got the following answer from them. This might be helpful for you.

The operating system, when reading the size of the card, reports a slightly different capacity than what is listed on the card's label

Definitions of a Megabyte:

1) Operating Systems commonly define a Megabyte (MB) as: 2 to the 20th power (1,024KB--Kilobytes).

2) DiskDrive and Flash Memory Card Manufacturers commonly define a MB as one million bytes (exactly 1,000,000 bytes).

Unformatted (Capacity)

Also known as drive byte capacity before formatting. The Maximum capacity of disk drive before formatting equals

[ (# Cylinders) X (# Heads) X (# Sectors) X (# Bytes per Track) ]

Example:

64MB CompactFlash Card consists of:

490 Cylinders

8 Heads

32 Sectors

512 Bytes per Track

This equates to: [ (490) X (8) X (32) X (512) ] = 64,225,280

Unformatted Capacity: 64,225,280 bytes

Formatted Capacity: 63,934,464 bytes (User Data)

Cause:

Disk Drive Companies such as SanDisk define 1 MEGABYTE as 1,000,000

BYTES. Operating Systems define 1 MEGABYTE as 1,048,576 BYTES (1024K X 1024K or 2 to the 20th power).

Example:

SanDisk 64MB CompactFlash Card being read by Microsoft Operating

System.

SanDisk Total Formatted Capacity divided by 1 MB (as defined by the Operating System) equates to the following:

63,934,464 BYTES / 1,048,576 BYTES = 60,972,656 BYTES, 60.9MB displayed by OS.

This is a great little card. Yes, the new xd card used in Fuji cameras is much smaller but how small do you need? With this card you can take only one card on vacation with you, although I still recommend an extra card for emergencies. I have been using this one for a month now. I have 111 photos and three short videos and there's still room. I've printed my photos up to 8x10 and they look great, just like my 35mm enlargements. The video although pretty smooth when viewed on my TV is not quite as good as 8mm video, but better than on my previous camera. And this card is a heck of a lot smaller than 3 rolls of film and an 8mm video tape.

I'll admit that the initial cost is high but remember that you can reuse the card again and againsimply download to your computer or a disc and erase the images from your card and you are ready to start over. Another advantage is the ability to immediately erase (true for all digital cards and cameras) and thereby save your 'film' for an important photo.

Delphi SA10069 Home Adapter Kit for XM SKYFi Roady or Roady2

Delphi SA10069 Home Adapter Kit for XM SKYFi Roady or Roady2
  • Home listening kit for use with Delphi XM Roady or Roady2 digital satellite radio receivers (not included)
  • .125-inch stereo minijack audio output
  • Easy setup using supplied minijack-to-stereo-RCA adapter cable
  • Includes high-gain XM antenna with 22.5-foot cable
  • Home stand measures 5 x 2 x 0.5 inches (W x H x D)

One day after activating the Roady 2, I purchased the home adaptor kit. I haven't turned it off since. As with the roady 2 purchase, this comes with more than enough hookups and accessories that you may or may not need. Turns out that the original antenna worked great inside as well but why disconnect and reconnect everything each time you drive or return home. I placed the antenna on the windowsill and that was it. The bitrate is at zero, my stereo receiver picks up outstanding reception without any additional hookups, as do other radios in the house. It takes up no space and offers such a rewarding experience that you'll be happy to say goodbye to free radio and pay for no commercials and a plethora of listening alternatives.

Buy Delphi SA10069 Home Adapter Kit for XM SKYFi Roady or Roady2 Now

Why leave your Roady 2 outside lonely in your car or truck when you can bring it inside and maximize your XM value? I carry my receiver back and forth between the vehicle and my house. Once in the house, I plop my Roady 2 into the home cradle, plug in the power and antenna and use the built in FM transmitter to broadcast XM to the FM radio in my bedroom and the main stereo in my living room, about 40 feet away. Granted, I have a good antenna in my home stereo, but the XM comes through clear. By using the line-out option, you can get even more clarity, but then you're limited to one service point.

The home antenna is so powerful that, even though you're supposed to have it in a south-facing window, you might be able to fudge on that. Just use the "antenna aiming" feature on the Roady 2 available through the menu for a more detailed view of what the Roady 2 is seeing through the home antenna. The home kit also comes with a remote control that alone is about worth the price of the kit. The remote has features not available on the Roady 2 receiver itself including "scan" and "jump" (or a sort of "last channel" button).

I listen to the "Audio Visions" channel late at night and, sometimes, while I sleep. I wake up and dial the receiver over to CNN or Fox news for a little wake up. But wonderful programming is another subject all together! If you're just thinking about the XM service, . Amazon has great prices on the hardware necessary to enjoy the service.

Awesome toy now that it's got power. I would give 5 stars however when I opened the package I was disappointed to discover my AC adapter wouldnt plug securely into my Roady2. Perhaps I have an older version? After compairing it to my auto adapter, I found that the AC adapter had a yellow plastic tip about a millimeter or two extending from the plug that shouldnt normally get in the way. I shaved it off with a knife so that it can plug into my Roady2 and have power.

The antenna works in my area as I'm surrounded by terrestrial transmitters, and plus my apartment is on the top floor. I just have the antenna sitting in the corner of my living room on a bookshelf.

Want Delphi SA10069 Home Adapter Kit for XM SKYFi Roady or Roady2 Discount?

This item is a must have for XM radio ownwers. Why be stuck to having the radio in the car only, when you can hook up the unit to your home stereo or home theatre receiver?

The home kit comes with everything you needthe sturdy thick plastic base, the AC power adapter, the wires to connect to your receiver, and the powerful antenna with I think 20 feet of wire for it.

I use my unit in a bedroom basement, had to have the 50 ft extension cord to make it all the way to the south area of the basement. I have it mounted on the stairwall next to the backdoor which faces south. Surprisingly, you don't need a south facing window or an outside mounting. My unit gets perfect reception with 3 bars all the time inside the house. When the door is left open (which is rare), it does interfer with the signal and it usually goes down to 1 bar, but it's never open for any length of time, so this is no problem.

The base to the kit is very sturdy and make of thick plastic. It's durable and tough. You just slide the unit into the clamp, which is easy to do as opposed to some products where you have to position things perfectly to get them on their bases. The base tilts up and down so you can get the best view of the radio's screen...like I said, very strong and durableit sits there and it's not moving or falling over on its own.

The antenna, as I pointed out, works wellit's clearly pretty strong. It has a plate you can take out and put 4 screws in to mount it on the wall inside or outside. I have 1 screw thru mine and it sits against the wall of the stairway so no one can knock into it. The antenna tilts as wellyou can have it flat against the base or tilt it outwards to make it perpendicular with the base to find better reception. Mine, as mentioned, is flat against the base and it works fine this way.

If you have a south facing window and that seems to be the only way you can get 3 bars...it would probably sit easily inside most windows. Mine downstairs are very small and have no real window sills to speak of, so this wouldn't work...tho, no problemthe sigal goes right thru the door!

The wiring connecting to the unit is strong, but it's thin so it's easily run over my entertainment center and hidden well. Same for the power adapter and jacks to the receiver. Great sound quality via the RCA cables in the kit. It's all long enough for most people...the antenna comes with 20 feet of wire.

A great product and a must have for XM radio ownersthis makes it possible to listen to XM anywhere.

Save 10% Off

The antenna is very weak. It definitely needs to face an open southern sky and it hates having walls in the way. There is an opportunity for a third party developer to create a better antenna here. On the other hand, the antenna cable is very long so Delphi is TRYING to make it easy to face it south.

The stand. . . well, it works and it seems rugged enough but it is very light and it slides around very easily. Too easily. I can see that it might be possible to accidentally knock it off the table.

The remote reciever in the roady seems to have a very narrow angle of view which limits the usefulness of the remote control. If you are too far to the right or left of the reciever, the remote is pretty useless. The remote itself, while physically small, is well designed and works with my gorilla hands. The buttons are of a good size. Overall, a good design.

This review might seem kind of negative so far, but that's not really the case in my mind. The components could be better, but they work reasonably well with each other and the Roady2 radio. I'd like to see improvements made and I'd even pay a bit more for a home kit with a stronger antenna. But overall, I am satisfied.

The really cool feature of the Blackberry Tour, and I'm sure some other units, is the ability to use a charger like this to simply drop the phone into it after a long day. It's a one-handed operation: the phone comes out of the pocket and is dropped into the cradle. No fumbling. Literally drop it and go. Other phones require two hands: (on some phones) open the charging port, find the end of the charging cord, figure out the proper orientation, insert, THEN drop the phone. Killer accessory for the Blackberry.

Palm Zire m150 Handheld PDA

Palm Zire m150 Handheld PDA
  • Dimensions (WxDxH):7.4 cm x 1.6 cm x 11.2 cm
  • Processor:Motorola MC68EZ328 16 MHz
  • Touch-screen Palm OS

I bought my first Zire m150 7 years ago, and it still works fine. I use 3 laptops, and run the palm software on them all, and use the handheld to synchronize all three. My newest laptop ran Windows 7 at 64 bits, and I couldn't run the Palm software until I changed it to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. My datebook and address book are so useful to me that I wanted to do this! Committed to using the Zire for a few more years, I decided I needed a backup. Bought one that was new in the unopened plastic box, but it was DOA because of a dead battery. Had my tech friend put a new battery in (needed to solder the wires), and now I have two identical handhelds.

In should be obvious that I am clinging to some older technology that I am fond of. Some day I will get an Iphone (I use a tracphone now and buy minutes once a yearmy phone costs me about $8 a month!) and an Apple laptop and keep all this PDA date in the cloud and synch wirelessly between the devices, but I don't plan to do that for a few years. For now, my inexpensive laptops, inexpensive cell phones, and inexpensive Zire PDA are fill my needs just fine, and I'm saving some bucks.

I love my Palm Zire....I know that these days, with cell phones that have similar capabilities, the Palm Zire is being used less and less, but I don't like clogging up my phone with addresses and numbers that I don't use often. It is very useful to keep information of family and friends who live out of the country and that you don't have to contact that often without using the memory of my cell phone.

New Black Leather Case Holster for Blackberry Bold 9000

New Black Leather Case Holster for Blackberry Bold 9000

  • Impact resistant molded shell cradles your Bold providing added protection
  • Genuine Napa leather
  • Ratchet belt clip system allows for full adjustability and maximum comfort
  • Case Mate offer 90 days warranty from the date of purchase

Ive tried many cases for the blackberry bold. This case combo looked great in the begginning but over time I started to realize it faults. The case itself doesnt proctect the bezel 100. There is a part at the top where it doesnt protect the bezel at all. Also the case blocks one of the holes for the speaker. I found this case to be bulky and also very hard to take off. The case was also hard to take out of the holster (probably would get easier over time). This combo does offer good value for the price considering it also comes with a free screen protector and the case is real good quailty leather. The case also gets in the way of typing when using the keys that are close to the bottom and sides. At first this didnt bother me much but over time did get annoying. This case combo does really look nice and classy and offers very good protection for the price.

I have had this cover about a month and it is a good cover. It is lightweight holds the nook color firmly, I don't feel that the nook would slip out at all. The magnet that hold the cover shut is a nice plus. The color is nice and the quality isn't bad. I don't think that it would take any abuse, but I could be wrong. Most of the ports are accessible minus the sd slot. Compared to my girlfriend's Barnes & Noble Dessin Cover in Pink, the Javoedge has about half the weight. If I was a betting man, I would say the Barnes & Noble case would hold up a lot better. I do like the cover and do not regret my purchase as I can flip the cover back and use it as an easel (horizontally) or hold it in one hand which is nice. Given its price and its weight, it is a great alternative to the bulky Barnes & Noble cases. I think something like the otterbox or trident cases will be my next purchase.

I am quite pleased with this little Kodak micro SD 4 GB Class 2 Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter KSDMI4GBPSBNAA, so much so that I just ordered a second one (it is my opinion that one should always carry a spare data card 'just in case').

I use it in my Kodak Easyshare Touch M5370 16 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom, HD Video Capture and 3.0-Inch Capacitive Touchscreen LCD (Blue) and it works perfectly. (I have had this camera, an excellent one by the way, for over a month and have used it extensively.)

While the Micro-SD card is REALLY tiny in size (and one has to exercise care so that one does not break it or lose it), it is actually quite good. In this particular camera (16 MP), it can hold 749 pictures taken at the largest size (highest quality) or 29 minutes of 720p video (and much more time if taking video at VGA 640x480 resolution). I am amazed that something so small can hold so much.

It comes with its own SD adapter so that it is easy and convenient to insert the card into the adapter and then insert the whole thing into computers which have a built-in SD slot (most of them do nowadays) to transfer the pictures.

In fact, you can actually use this card in ANY camera which uses either 'regular' SD cards OR Micro SD cards. In the first case, if your camera uses 'regular' SD cards, you place the Micro SD card into the adapter and then insert the entire device into your camera and in the second case, if your camera uses Micro SD cards, you merely just use the Micro SD card itself. This makes for a very useful and versatile card and allows it to be used in ANY camera (or device) which uses any type of SD card.

Thus there is nothing else necessary to buy and you can see that the low price for this entire device is comparable to other cards which may not include the adapter. This card is even supplied with a sturdy plastic case which holds both parts securely and conveniently.

So for that particular Kodak camera I mentioned as well as for any other camera which takes a Micro SD card (or 'regular' SD cards), I give this one my highest recommendation.

I bought this as a 2nd card for my Kodak Easyshare camera and it provided me enough memory for over 2,600 pictures and about 2 and a half hours worth of video. The adapter makes it possible to view the media I capture from my camera on my Wii and digital picture frame.

Noreve Mitac Mio C320 / C520 / C720 leather case Tradition Black

Noreve Mitac Mio C320 / C520 / C720 leather case Tradition Black
  • Elegant case concieved in top quality handcrafted leather
  • Compatible with personal assistant / GPS Mitac Mio C320, C520 & C720
  • Access to basic functions (multiple openings on the leather)
  • Slim and padded design
  • Pratical thanks to its snap closure

I almost always find these cases lacking in so many ways, so I was quite pleasently surprised on the quality and design of this case. From all the right cutouts, with well finished edges, to the little stand flap that acts to hold the device up in the case.

Well worth the money and a great looking way to protect my investment.

rooCase Samsung X360-34G 13.3-Inch Laptop Carrying Case - Black Deluxe Bag

rooCase Samsung X360-34G 13.3-Inch Laptop Carrying Case - Black Deluxe BagUsing this for my 13" ultrabook. Fits it perfectly. Bought this case because of extra pockets and room, much better than just a slip case. Alas, though I like the bag, it is not holding up well. Have been using almost daily for three months. After two months, the pad part of the shoulder strap started coming apart, and one of the mesh dividers inside the back is beginning to separate. Bummer. I will keep using the bag, but I can tell it won't last another year.

UPDATE 6/19/12. Bag is getting worse. Had to tear off the shoulder pad because it was getting so bad, and now one of the handles is tearing off! I am NOT hard on computer bags. Just one is just built poorly, though I still like the style. Of course, a torn bag isn't very stylish.

On a side note, and this isn't the mfgs fault. The velco that attached both handles to each other likes to snag on my dry-fit polo shirts! It snags and messes them up. Bummer.

NEXT BAG!

Macsense MP-100 HomePod

Macsense MP-100 HomePod
  • Standalone unit plays MP3, Internet radio and is upgradeable to support AAC, WAV and WMA very soon.
  • Access and play music from 10,000+ Internet Radio stations.
  • Streams music to home speakers, headphones or built-in stereo speakers via an existing wireless or wired Ethernet network.
  • Compatible with Apple iTunes, MusicMatch Jukebox, NullSoft WinAmp, and many other media management applications.
  • Play music from any USB storage device like a Flash Drive, via the USB Port.

Don't be fooled by the "Mac" and "Pod" in the name, nor the iPod white case, and iPod-like wheel. This is a product made by a distributor of Apple computers and not Apple themselves. Had Apple made it, it would undoubtedly have been a much more pollished product, and a lot less fragile in it's interface.

As it is the HomePod is a workmanlike gadget for reading your MP3s across a network and playing them remotely. Setup is easy-ish. With only a single previous experience of setting up a wireless computer, the wireless setup on the HomePod took half an hour or so and a careful reading of the instructions. Server software is required on the PC (or an Apple), and this could be better explained. For instance loading an iTunes library file and the MyMusic folder from the PC, causes the HomePod's library listing to become a little garbled, and the HomePod to crash sporadically. This could definitely be handled better. There are also Linux servers available for the HomePod available on the internet.

The HomePod itself comes with an old version of the firmware and software, and upgrading the software is well worth the effort, for those with some technical savy.

Using the HomePod is easy and satisfying: the music files are listed by artist, author, trackname, genre and playlist, and the software interfaces well with iTunes. Reportedly it also works with Real Player and the MS Media Player, although I've never tried these.

There is also an FM radio tuner built in but the reception is so bad that this is completely worthless. There is also an internet radio facility which appears pretty neat, but I have used it only briefly.

The homepod includes its own very low quality speakers but also has 3.5mm ear plug, and phono plugs to attach external speakers.

The software does have numerous areas where it falls short of reasonable expectations, for instance the wheel scrolls either very slowly, or too fast, with no happy medium; the music cannot be played while the menus are being navigated; many of the HomePod settings can only be changed from the PC; and the software does crash occassionally. However, the software is open source, and can be downloaded from gloolabs.com for free, and those with some technical experise can customize to their hearts content.

Bottom line is the HomePod finally lets me play my mp3s from my PC harddisk anywhere around the house, something I've wanted to do for some time. It is not perfect, but it is a relatively cheap solution and after working through the kinks does a fine job.

I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Macsense Homepod. At this price I wasn't expecting much but I was wrong.

I have a wireless lan in my home, and was attracted to the Homepod for the following reasons

1) I was looking for something could easily and occasionally switch between Kitchen and Living room. I didn't need to bring it skiing!

2) I listen to radio quite a bit, and the FM tuner was a definite plus

3) I liked the idea of an open platform with an active developer community finding ways to improve the product.

Here's whats good about it

1) It works beautifully and simply once it's set up

2) It is a solid, well thought out design.

3) I love being able to browse & shuffle-play my music in the kitchen

4) The product is being improved all the time via firmware updates

5) It's very compatible

6) The Internet Radio feature is a lot of fun, and works without a "server" PC.

Here's what's weak

1) Wireless setup was quite easy, but I did have some trouble getting the supplied server software working (I eventually downloaded MusicMatch). My problems were probably down to the fact that I'm still using Windows 98

2) The FM Tuner isn't great OK for strong signals only

3) The built-in speakers are on a par with typical laptop speakers i.e. useless for all but emergencies. You won't understand the quality of this equipment without connecting decent speakers (mine are modest Altec Lansing 2.1).

Summary I love it, and I'm looking forward to more (free) enhancements in the future. It gave me a low cost entry into the world of MP3/Digital media using my existing PC, WLAN, speakers etc.

I've owned the Homepod for over 1 year now. To get the features I wanted I needed the Release 2 Beta firmware. This has been Beta for 2 years now! (written 4/2005) The system will hang after it's been on for several hours if you do anything besides just let it play. I find this particularly true if a shuffle operation is attempted. The system has to be power cycled. That wouldn't be a really big deal if it weren't for the 37 second startup time! I've found the overall experience to be a bit frustrating.

I feel sorry for the people who paid over 100.00 for this unit but for 20.00 it is a really cool gadget. I get horrible FM signal at my home and dont have a 50 gazillion mp3 collection so my primary plans were for the online streaming. It works with Live 365 flawlessly once I added the beta firmware. It looks like the people behind the "GLOO" software are MIA so I dont expect any more software updates or support for that matter. It does lock up pretty hard when trying to stream Shoutcast though but for 20.00 what can you expect?

Its a great concept and I had big expectations but to no avail. the Homepod server.exe will not work with Windows 7 x64. i tried to update the firmware but the version is back from 2004.

I have decided to return the product and my recommendation is not to buy it unless you want to try is out with Windows XP.
