PalmOne Infrared Wireless Keyboard for Palm PDAs

PalmOne Infrared Wireless Keyboard for Palm PDAs
  • Foldable for easy transport in your pocket, bag or purse!
  • Infrared technology -- no need to buy any other accessories, works with the built-in Infrared port on your Palm PDA!
  • Compatible with the following Palm Handhelds -
  • Palm Tungsten Series Handhelds
  • Palm Zire Series Handhelds

Update/Caution: As of early October 2004, PalmOne has a "Universal Wireless Keyboard driver" update on their T3 web page. That is NOT the correct driver for this keyboard the driver for this keyboard is available from the Palm Accessories page for this keyboard and appears to have last been updated in 12/2003. I experienced system problems after installing that incorrect driver, so be sure you're getting the right one (the pictures show the UWKeyboard with a different key layout).

I've had one of these for a few days now, and it seems to work very nicely. The lack of dedicated number keys is indeed a minor annoyance as is the position of the lower hinge (at the spacebar) but everything else has worked quite well with my Tungsten T3.

There are several things to be aware of when you get one of these:

* The driver software in the package is almost certainly out of date, so you should download the newer version from the Palm website. Be sure you get the drivers for the correct keyboard since there are two different wireless ones.

* On a T3 you'll need to set landscape mode to left-handed orientation because of the position of the IR transmitter.

* While it seems tight, the IR wand is long enough to work with an extended T3 in landscape mode you'll have it at what seems an odd angle, but it works. If you use the flipover cover that comes with the T3, you'll need to have the T3 sitting a bit further out and further to the right (the base of the T3 won't be down in the holder area), but it still seems stable you don't have to remove the cover in order to use the keyboard.

* On-screen buttons that don't match the preprogrammed names reachable with the blue Fn key can be selected using Ctrl-Cmd-Letter where Letter is the first letter of the button (or any unique letter in its name).

* The default in the Keyboard driver is to only look for a keyboard signal for a short time after the Palm is powered on generally 10-30 seconds depending on how you set it. After that it will stop looking in order to save power. That means if you turn on your Palm and use it a bit before dropping it onto the keyboard then it probably won't still be looking. If it finds a keyboard, it'll stay on just fine. Most people can probably set this down to the lowest setting and never notice it.

* The up-arrow key is also the "?" key, so if you need to go up while selecting you have to use the blue Fn key (since Shift-Up will just get you a "?"). This'll be clearer when you look at the keyboard. Otherwise selecting text works as you'd expect (Ctrl-Shift-arrow to select words, etc.)

* There's a quick reference/help area in the Keyboard driver that you install on your Palm. It has some useful tips and is always with you (unlike the PDF manual).

* The keyboard does use power on the Palm since the IR port has to be on, so your battery life will be lower while you're using it lower still if you're using both the IR keyboard and a BlueTooth cellphone as a modem. It's still good for a day or two depending on how much you use it (and the shorter battery life is something T3 owners should already be aware of).

* The Tab key can be configured to either switch fields or insert a TAB character by default, with the other behavior available by using Fn-Tab.

UPDATE: After using it for a while, all of the above still stands but I have two additional notes:

* When the Palm is looking for a keyboard, it's looking for a keypress that's what sends a character and makes the Palm realize there's a keyboard present and just being in the keyboard cradle isn't enough. If you miss that window of time you can force it to look again by either powering off and back on or by switching to the Keyboard application and telling it to look again.

* I use a shopping list program and I've found that in some grocery stores the lighting used in refrigerated/frozen foods sections can make the Palm keyboard driver think that a keyboard is present and sending characters (frozen 'p's?). If you run into this, your best alternative is to cover the IR port with your finger.

The keyboard is a little thinner than my Stowaway keyboard, but bigger in the other two dimensions. Unlike the Stowaway's clever foldout design, this one just folds out in half. Pop the latch (which also serves to support the backrest for your Palm) and fold out the right half of the keyboard. In fact it looks remarkably similar to ThinkOutside's wireless keyboard.

You are greeted with a 3 row keyboard layout (with a split spacebar and other function buttons on a 4th row). A blue Fn key gives you access to the numbers and PDA related functions, while a green Fn key gives you access to symbols.

I like the wireless part. The keyboard's IR port swivels into position above my T3. No connector to snap on to, which is good. I've already worn out one button board on my Visor because of the constant snapping into and out of the keyboard.

I suspect anybody who touch types more than 20 wpm probably won't be too enamoured with this keyboard. The hinge just happens to sit where I normally rest my thumb to hit the space bar which keeps me from hitting the space bar properly. I have to hold my thumb in an awkward position to hit the space bar. Maybe I'll just have to train myself to put my thumb a little farther out to clear the hinge.

Having the numbers and symbols compressed into the top row of letters is also inconvenient if you're typing a lot of numbers mixed in with text. Really slows typing down having to reach for those extra modifier keys. It also means the right hand number keys are all in the wrong position (compare with a full-sized keyboard to see just how out of position they are). If you're just doing straight text, it much less of a problem.

Key spacing is all right, somewhat narrower than the original Stowaway keyboard design. 19mm vs 18mm may not sound like much, but it sure feels like a lot.

I think whoever came up with the 3 row keyboard design was never much of a touch typist who entered a lot of numbers. I suppose eventually I'll get used to it, but man, it sure makes typing slow.

This keyboard is one of the best designed pieces of hardware I've ever seen. You can see the attention they gave to details, from the lock that becomes the pda support, to the rubber strips that won't let the keyboard and the pda slip. You'll never write as fast as in your desktop, but It's a nice package for the portability you get.

If the hardware is great, I can't say the same about the keyboard driver. If you are writing in a language with a lot of accented letters (portuguese, french, spanish...) the software makes it almost useless for any serious writing. It's so clumsy that to put a simple tilde (~) in a letter you have to push 4 keys at the same time! Great to slow you to death and to give you some RSI. Why you can't just press the accent, and then the letter (as you do in all international keyboards) is beyond my understanding. You'll be able to use it just for some notetaking without accents.

I've bought the wireless version because I have a Clié palmtop. Palm licenses this keyboard from Thinkoutside, the makers of the Stowaway keybards, and their site says that the wireless model is compatible with almost all palm models. Since I plan to go back to a palm sometime soon, I've bought this for compatibility. After reading the README file, everything worked fine. Unfortunately the price for the infrared connection is a more intensive use of the pda battery.

I had successfully used a Palm Keyboard with the Palm 105. After purchasing the Tungsten E (which I love) two months ago, it was time for the keyboard. Prices have dropped considerably.

However, installation was fraught and I was ultimately forced to do a hard reset in order to complete the keyboard installation. Of course, I then had to reinstall any third party applications. The calculator managed to disappear en route too.

Design is a little clunky. The old keyboard opened with the touch of a button. One has to wrestle with latch on the new keyboard and ladies, you might break a few nails as you do so. The holder that is supposed to keep the handheld in place is all but useless. An upcoming flight will be an interesting test.

Notwithstanding these criticisms, I was very impressed by Palm's e-mail support which was active on Xmas Eve and during the day and am glad to have the keyboard working.

If you need the keyboard, you can't go wrong at this price.

Bought this last week. After loading the keyboard driver I was able to place my Palm T3 on the keyboard holder and begin typing.

I have used other keyboards for the Palm and by the time I got the PDA docked properly ont he connector I usually forgot what I was going to type...

This works exactly as designed. The only knock on it that I've read is that you must turn your T3 to left handed mode if you want to type in landscape format.

This is a very useful device.

BoxWave iPad 3 Car Headrest Mount

BoxWave iPad 3 Car Headrest Mount
  • An all inclusive kit that provides everything that you need to mount your iPad to the back headrest of your car seat
  • Mounting straps are fully adjustable
  • Maintain full access to all of the new iPad's screen and button controls
  • Button flap securely locks your iPad in place
  • Solid construction

Just used this on a multiple day road trip and it worked great. I loved that it looked nice, was compact and that the ipad could slide in and out so easily when we were going out of the car. Since we have a minivan I also liked that I could mount it on a seat back, or between seats so all 4 kids could see. The controls were easy to reach except for the power button (which is good because kids can't turn it off) and it was easy to put up, even while my husband was driving. It arrived quickly and we love it!

OK, I've read nearly ALL the reviews on this product...the good; and, well...the rest. Here is my setup/installation experience from the perspective of a Video production editor who has never set up a NAS. Having built many computer systems myself, and having also provided remote and on-site support to literally thousands of computer customers in very large corporate and government network environments, I go into every new installation with the spirit of I can figure it out; and, if there's a problem, look in the mirror first and think twice before getting all worked up. It's just hardware. When the unexpected happens, there's always a path to some flavor of resolution. As it goes with resolutions, some taste better than others.

The primary reason I bought the Synology DS1812+ (box) was to offload 10TB of High Definition video files from my editing system so that I could completely wipe it clean and install it with an Intel 520 series Solid State Drive as the new system drive, and reconfigure the remaining four disks in a RAID 5 setup. For anybody who cares, the reason I didn't configure with RAID 5 in the first place was money, priorities; and, hey...what's RAID 5!?

JAVOedge Austin Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch (Purple)

JAVOedge Austin Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch
  • Specifically made for the Barnes & Noble Nook Touch Reader
  • Built-in kickstand is easily propped open for hands-free reading
  • Magnetic closure allows for hassle free access to your Nook Touch Reader
  • Design of the Case allows for complete access to the screen and device features

This product is very useful. It protects the Nook when not in use, by covering the glass front. While reading the Nook while lying down, the case with the extra foldout leg, can stand up in a comfortable way so that one does not have to hold the Nook while reading. Incidentally, I did not find this cover among the products exhibited by Barnes and Noble.

Buy JAVOedge Austin Flip Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch (Purple) Now

When I first bought my Nook Simple Touch I planned on just using it as-is, since it is so incredibly light and easy to carry that it seemed almost a shame to add a case to it. But, after lugging it around the house and to the gym a few times, it started to feel more and more fragile and I noticed more chances for it to get scratched, dropped, cracked, etc.

I looked at a lot of cases and settled on the JAVOedge Austin flip case. Out of the box, I will say that I was a little concerned with how bulky the case felt. Part of this is just the nature of adding any case to such a small ereader, and part of it is because the extra kick-stand on the back adds a little more thickness than usual. For the first few days while I got used to it I told myself I would just use the case when taking it outside, and would slip the Nook out and use it without the case around the house. It has been a few weeks now and I have yet to take the Nook back out.

I love the softness of the fabric on this case it feels nice in your hand and seems to be pretty high quality for the price. The Nook definitely feels secure and protected, but it is still easy to access all of the buttons and ports as-needed. And the kick stand on the back, while initially bulky, has become one of my favorite features. It's really easy to set this case upright on a table or on your chest if you're lying in bed so you don't have to hold it non-stop while reading. A first world problem, maybe, but if you read a lot and don't mind the extra bulk it adds to the case, it's worth it.

Would give this 4.5 stars if I could.

BoxWave iPod touch 4G AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Case for Slim and

BoxWave iPod touch 4G AluArmor Jacket - Rugged, Heavy Duty Anodized Aluminum Metal Case for Slim and Durable Protection - iPod touch 4G Cases and Covers
  • Form-fitting case designed to perfectly fit your iPod touch 4G
  • Made of anodized aluminum that is strong yet lightweight
  • Interior is padded with a thin layer of foam that holds your device securely in place
  • Secure side closure design
  • Cut-out design for the touch screen so that you can keep the same tactile feel as using the iPod touch 4G without a case

This is the only all metal case I found on the web. When I first got this case I loved it. The few times I have dropped it the case takes the impact. The ipod pops out of the case on impact which I feel helps distribute the force.

My complaints are that after a few months the foam and metal gives way and the ipod gets loose inside allowing it to rock back and forth. I have tried to bend it back into shape but after a day in my pocket it's right back where I started. It also traps dust which makes the camera take blurry pictures if you forget to clean it first. The hinge and clasp are a little sharp and I have had to fix a few pockets. The ipod must be removed from the case to access the headphone jack. Once plugged in you can put the case back on. I bet a lot of other cases suffer from some of the same problems.

Bottom line if you want an industrial strength case, This is it. It's just not that elegant. I am not going to replace it though.

I gave it 4 stars because of the keyboard and the fact that I only received 2 stylus pens instead of the 3 like advertised.

Great cover. I purchased this when I bought my kindle keyboard and it fits great. It was easy to put on and I have had no problems with it. What I also like is that I have a leather Targus cover and I don't have to remove it when I use the leather cover.

GeoSafari Deluxe MagniScope

GeoSafari Deluxe MagniScopeI bought this for my son's 9th birthday. The light stopped working seconds after putting in the battery. The entire Magniscope literally fell apart within five minutes. Don't waste your money!

This item doesn't even work. The little light that you are suppose to stick into the base to be able to even see anything isn't bright enough. There is no point in using the focus knob because you are never able to actually see anything. If you take it out of the base to carry around, which is a great idea, still doesn't matter, you can't see anything....Expensive and a waste of money!!!

My four year old had been begging for a microscope of his own. I didn't want to get him anything too heavy, breakable or complex. This was perfect. It is easy to use and has survived several drops to the ground. I wouldn't get this one for a child over the age of six or seven.

put the battery in? NOTHING. My wife had ordered the product like 6 weeks before the grandkids came for visit so she'd have it in time. It sat here wrapped up as a present. When she contacted the seller she was informed she'd had it too long (6 weeks or sommat) and therefore would only get half credit on a refund.

Won't be buying from that seller (or manufacturer again) Could be they're peddling factory "seconds" jccampb

Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 for Business

Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 for Business
  • Blue Track Technology - Works on virtually on surface.
  • Nano Transceiver - Leave plugged in when you're on the go, or stow in mouse.
  • 4-way scrolling and 4 customizable buttons - Additional advanced features with included software.
  • Up to 10 months' battery life - Battery status indicator lets you know when your battery is running low.

First off, i've tried over half a dozen wireless mice in the last five years. Every new one seems to claim that they're all lag free. That's not the case with me. I've even tried wireless mice up to a hundred dollars in price and even some Bluetooth mice. They are usually fine on a small laptop screen, but when you connect them up to a 24" LCD there is barely noticeable lag. It's so small that 95% of people would probably not notice it at all. It only seems to occur on large screens and it's a big enough annoyance to keep me from using a wireless mouse of any kind.

I heard about the new Blue-Track technology and just figured it was just a marketing thing and not really something new. I figured it was perhaps just an Optical mouse in disguise. After losing my receiver for my VX Revolution (which is a very good mouse) I needed a new mouse for my laptop with a small receiver. I read up about these and a almost went for the Mobile Mouse 5000 instead, but glad I didn't. I saw these on display at a local store and they were out of stock. I checked online and most every place was out of stock of them. I waited a week and my local store only got in the white version. After another few weeks I ended up driving a half hour just to pick up this mouse in black. Yes, I actually waited just so I didn't have to buy the ugly white version!

Instead of connecting it to my laptop I immediately hooked it up to my PC connected to a 24" display. I immediately noticed there was no micro-lag AT ALL. I was pretty impressed to say the least. It actually tracks just as well as my Logitech G5 that I was previously using. So far I have not installed any of the software on the disc, so I can not comment on that. I usually prefer not to if I can avoid it.

In my picture viewing software the mouse scroll wheel skips by pictures too fast, so that it's nearly impossible to scroll down one image at a time. I can fix the scroll speed in the software easily i'm sure. The scroll wheel itself is a bit too thin, but this is a laptop mouse, so it's not a big deal. The wheel just feels cheap and i've always preferred the Logitech wheels due to the clicking sound it makes when you scroll it. The auto-scroll on the VX revolution is a really nice feature.

Unfortunately the entire mouse feels cheap. It IS cheap, so that's not a big deal. It's not bad enough to make me want to not use it though. There is a rubber grip material on both sides of the mouse and i'm not sure why this was needed, since it's too smooth to begin with. It does however make the mouse look a bit better. It is a very well designed mouse and looks pretty nice.

I'm currently using this still on my desktop computer. As my main mouse it's a bit small, but for a laptop it's PERFECT. I actually liked the blue-track so much that I went out and bought the Wireless Mouse 5000 for my desktop. I didn't like that much (too big and heavy!) so I'm going to keep this for desktop use despite it being so small.

My suggestion to Microsoft is that they should make a higher quality version of this. One with a metal scroll wheel and better buttons. Pretty much like a top of the line model like the MX revolution. This actually tracks better then that mouse, so why not?

It's the best tracking wireless mouse i've ever tried and the best mouse you can get for the price!

UPDATE: 3/2/2010

I love this mouse so much that I did end up buying two of them. One for my main computer and the second for my laptop. The nice thing about it when using it on a laptop is the receiver is so small you don't notice it. I tested the tracking on carpet, wood flooring and even glass and it was no problem. The most difficult surface for it to track on is tan leather. I often sit in my leather recliner while using my laptop and put the mouse on the arm rest (it's pretty wide). Sounds dumb, but it works! It's not even all that flat, but slightly curved! Occasionally after every 10 minutes the mouse starts to throw a fit and I have to switch to a different surface. Once I use it on a different surface for a few minutes and switch back, it's fine. It's almost as if the mouse re-learns how to track on the new surface. Very strange. I'm just amazed that it'd even work on such a surface to begin with.

The only minor negative i've found is that the battery doesn't last long. It's not even worth mentioning since batteries are so cheap. I've been through about two in a month. I've also noticed some stores charging more for some colors due to being hard to find!

CALL MICROSOFT IF YOUR RECEIVER BURNS UP!!!

I purchased the MS mouse 3500 for my daughter. It was about a month later when she had the "meltdown". I called Microsoft and they knew about the problem, sent a replacement mouse (different color), and advised us not to purchase another one from the store because the first batch of mice have this issue. They explained that they have resolved it, but some of the retail stores have inventories from the first batch. Of course, Microsoft recommends purchasing a mouse from their website so that you can be assured that you won't have to contend with a "meltdown". If you had this problem, Microsoft will replace your bad mouse free of charge if you just take the time to call. Yes, it is inconvenient, but it is a great mouse!! Our replacement works perfectly and for months now. We are looking to purchase two more. (Everyone in our home wants to use my daughter's mouse.) Why would anyone pay for the same item twice after having a problem with it? YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON A NEW MOUSE!!

Great mouse! Tracks excellently, feels really good in the hand. But after owning it for a week the nano receiver broke, so now the whole mouse is unusable and I am forced to spend another $40 on another mouse, EXTREMELY frustrating. I didn't bump the receiver or physically touch it in anyway. I usually just left it in my computer, then turned the mouse on when I wanted to use it. But after a week I turned on the mouse and nothing happened. I pulled out the receiver and the metal part was extremely hot to the touch and so was my usb port.

Want Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 for Business Discount?

I bought this wireless mouse mainly because it was advertised to work on almost any surface and because of the nano receiver. While I really liked the design and features of the mouse, the reliability issue turned me off. The mouse worked for exactly five days. At the end of the fifth day, my computer did not recognize the USB nano receiver. When I plugged the nano receiver from the USB port, I immediately knew what was wrong. The receiver was too hot; apparently shorted out somehow. It turns out this is more common than I thougth (just search on google). I returned the product the next day and replaced it with a Logitech V450.

Microsoft Mobile mouse 4000 is best wireless mouse I have ever used. I purchased mine from an OfficeMax store in Brooklyn but today it stopped working. When I went to investigate why the mouse wasn't working I discovered that the wireless receiver (the part you plug-in to your pc) was extremely hot to the touch, at least 120°F. Removing it and placing it in a different usb port caused it to heat up again. So now I am stuck with an otherwise wonderful (wonderful because it makes less noise while scrolling and clicking than the Logitech V450 mouse) that I can't use.

Samsung Galaxy NoteII 2 Leather Case - GT-N7100 - Horizontal Pouch Type - PDair (Black)

Samsung Galaxy NoteII 2 Leather Case - GT-N7100 - Horizontal Pouch Type - PDairI ordered this due to a you tube video I saw and they said in the video review it was a good product. I track it and for the last month it says it is in hong kong. Scheduled to arrive the middle of Feb and I ordered it in Dec.

Update:

Case arrived in a nice box. Nice looking product but the phone will not fit with the case on. Might work with a slim case but I am using the pt case that is still pretry low profile but still will not fit. Phone fits but top snap will not close because the phone sticks out the top to much.

Good quality, I love it.

thin, comfortable and lock always stay in place.

also you can wear it on a belt or put in side pocket.

PDair Leather case for Motorola FLIPOUT MB511 - Flip Type (Black)

PDair Leather case for Motorola FLIPOUT MB511 - Flip TypeThe case is made of really nice leather and fits the phone perfectly. However when I ordered it the description stated it came with a belt clip but it doesn't. This greatly diminishes the functionality of the case. I bought it for my fiance so he could hear the phone ring and protect it from damage. Still the case is very stylish!

Acer Aspire V5-471P-6605 14-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Silky Silver)

Acer Aspire V5-471P-6605 14-Inch Touchscreen Laptop
  • Intel Core i3-3227U Processor 1.9 GHz (3 MB Cache)
  • 4 GB DDR3 RAM
  • 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
  • 14-Inch Touch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • Windows 8, 5-hour battery life

I will keep this relatively short-you get what you pay for! For the current listed price there is no other 14" touchscreen on the market at this price point. I have now had this laptop for nearly a week and it is pretty fast. I ordered 4gb of ram along with the computer to upgrade to 8gb total. This makes all the difference and for roughly $25 you can get the most out of this computer with this simple upgrade that a child could install. Backlit keyboard is great and illuminates nicely without blinding you in very dark locations. As for the fit and finish-I personally like it. It really is silky in feel. The computer itself is solidly built and all parts fit well. Also, the speakers on this thing are great for a budget laptop. They get a lot louder than previous laptops I've had and with more body. They really sound the best when the laptop is sitting on a hard surface so they can reflect sound off of it since they are on the bottom. My only issues with this laptop are the wifi and the smallish battery. The wifi disconnects on a regular basis and has to be reset. Three hours on the internet and I will have to reset atleast twice. I will probably just get a nano usb wifi module to fix this situation. That being said, still a great purchase as long as I get 2 years out of this thing.

I needed and new computer and figured Windows 8 was the future, but designed for a touch screen, so felt that that would be the way to invest. Spent the afternoon, yes it arrived in 16 hours after order placed, playing and feeling comfortable returning to "start" when I couldn't figure any other way to move on....my friends are frustrated, but without a touch screen computer I can understand the reason.....I highly recommend this computer as it is stylish, speedy and fun to work....so far it has been easy to become familiar with the system.

This is a great laptop and definitely worth the price. I had some issues with the wifi staying connected, but went to Acer's site and downloaded a different driver and now it works perfect! I love the touchscreen! It has everything I need in a computer and very happy with the purchase.

I personally think that this power supply is actually better than the one that came with my laptop. It's smaller and so far has lasted longer.

Great Product, easy to use, and still allows you to charge your PPC through the normal connector. I would give it 5 stars, but it is still just a charger.

M-Edge Incline Case for iPad Mini, Black

M-Edge Incline Case for iPad Mini, BlackDecent quality and good looks. Serves its purpose well. I especially like how it enables the ipad mini to be stood in portrait mode.

I worry about spills, so my covers will always prevent that. I also like to be able to use the cover to put the pad at a good reading angle, this one does that too. Finally, my covers have to be good looking, this one is as sharp as they come. A winner no matter what matters to you in a cover.
