Metro Vacuum VM4BS500 Professional Stainless Steel 120V, 500-Watt High Performance Hand Vac

Metro Vacuum VM4BS500 Professional Stainless Steel 120V, 500-Watt High Performance Hand Vac
  • All steel construction
  • 500 watts of power, 110 volts at 4.5 amps, 60" of water lift, weighs 2.7 lbs.
  • Includes power unit, crevice tool, dust brush, upholstery nozzle
  • Five year motor warrantee

This tiny hand held vac has more power than some shop vacs. It's all I had hoped for and is very well made of stainless steel. For cleaning the car or a quick pickup around the house ... 500 watt Vac n Go can do it. You can order a 3'flex hose attachment, seperately, and 5 packs of filters. Should be, but not carried by Amazon.

I just received this vac from Amazon and already I love it!

Extremely well made and light weight.

Powerful vac and the back end is a "blower".

The blower part is not as powerful as the blowers

the gardeners use but can be quite useful in certain

situations.

As one reviewer mentioned, the flexible hose and

extra filters are not sold on Amazon.

I found both the 3' and 6' flexible hoses and

extra filter bags at AutoGeek (dot) net.

I would recommend this vac to anyone wanting

an excellent hand vac.

Pleased with the product. It is more powerful than the other rechargeable portables that I have. The length of the electrical cord is sufficient to reach the extreme corners of my motorhome from the mid outlet. I like the fact that it has a stainless steel body and not plastic.

Want Metro Vacuum VM4BS500 Professional Stainless Steel 120V, 500-Watt High Performance Hand Vac Discount?

This vacuum has great design and SUPER suction. The cord is nice and long a big plus. We use it to suck up dirt, ash and wood particles around the hearth of our wood burning stove (obviously NOT hot ash)--and for the stairway and will also be using it to clean inside our cars. Would give it 5 stars but wish the paper-type filter held a bit more and was washable and permanent (i.e., nylon or metal fine mesh)instead of needing to order filters although you CAN empty and re-use the filter several times as is and two filters come with the vacuum. We really love it and are very pleased with the purchase. It's a terrific vacuum!

I bought this vacuum to replace my Dirt Devil. I am a professional auto detailer and wanted something powerful, yet small. I got tired of lugging around the house sized canister. The battery rechargable vacuums on the market don't have enough power for my needs. I was quite surprised to find that it actually cleaned the interior of the car with vigor! Compact and easy to use, sturdy as well. Love the stainless steel design.

The only drawback for me is that the steel body gets hot to the touch after being on for a bit. if you are not using it for work and just picking up a little mess in the house or doing the stairs, this probably won't be an issue. Also, I will have to empty the bag more on such a small vacuum. I plan to buy the reusable cloth bag to save money on purchasing throwaway bags. Moreover, I am purchasing the shoulder strap Metro Vac sells on their web site to solve the problem of the vacuum body getting hot to my touch. That, along with the flexible hose, will keep me from having to constantly touch the vacuum while using. These issues don't keep me from giving it 5 stars or from recommending this product to others. On top of all the good stuff, it is made in the U.S.A!

GET THE RIGHT MODEL

This is an updated model of the KP-810-10, it's the KP-810-10A. The OLD 810-10 has a cut off corner on the right side for EZ visual distinction; make sure you get the 810-10A. "A" with no cut off corner. There are a lot of middle men sellers for this unit giving it differing names that omit the model number making it easy to buy the wrong one, if you are still looking around.

** UPDATE 5-5-2012 UPDATE **

iPazzPort has been coming out with "upgrades" to this model on a regular basis. I have spoken to the guy at unisen-usa. the USA distributor for iPazzPort. He indicated that the manufacture "iPazzPort" is currently, continually, perfecting their models. iPazzPort has already released two newer models than this (priced higher) with the most valuable added features being an IR learning remote function, air mouse ability & a back side Media Center circular clustered button layout. The KP-810-18V allows you to clone & replace almost any other remote you have with it. It also has a speaker & microphone wireless connection to your PC so you can plug the remote into a headset or headphones; making voice control possible to boot!

WIRELESS DISTANCE REPORT SELLER PERFORMANCE

I read a number of reviews where the units were not performing well as far as wireless distance and pairing problems. Mine goes 28 feet (I measured it) line of site & 10-15 feet through walls. I have not had to pair it at all; it just worked out of the box. (envelope in this case). Pre-Order, I e-mailed the manufacture about the distance problems; they indicated that older models do have a distance problem by replying, "new revisions don't have any problems with distance". (indicating the older revisions did & do). This seller has the new revisions in stock; at least that is what I got. The standard free shipping (USPS) took 5 days and arrived in a envelope with no paperwork. Documentation is included in the re-closing plastic, peg hanger' clear display packaging.

PERFORMANCE USAGE

The iPassPort KP-810-10A works as advertised for me, but keep in mind IT IS VERY SMALL & LIGHT! 2.25 x 6 and a 1/4 inch thick. It is made to be used holding it in your hands and typing with your thumbs, or one handed finger typing. The touch pad is small but works great, it's 1.25" square. You may have to fine tune your preferences in the MS Win Control Panel Mouse setup for your double tap and precision settings.

The buttons-keys are beveled up in the center making it easy to feel each one and confirm pressing them as they quietly click. The back-light works very well, but a little uneven light wise. My cat loves the red laser pointer & my fish are terrorized by it. It is a little awkward to use at first but would work in a demo.

5-5-2012 PERFORMANCE UPDATE 7 MONTHS OF USAGE LATER!

I have noticed I can no longer rely on the radio signal being sent when I press a key getting to the receiver. If I type a sentence I always have to go back and correct it. This problem seems to be getting worse. I guess its the ware of usage on the keys that is doing it.

BATTERY LIFE

I have had the unit for about 2 weeks now. I had to recharge it once (after the original charge when I received it). It lasted a week with pretty heavy usage. It recharged fast, 23 hours (I was not watching it when the light came on indicating it was fully charged). The unit does not seem to use much power if left on while not in use. According to what I read, it does not shut itself off after a time out period, but it does not seem to make much difference.

WHAT'S INSIDE?

I dissembled the unit by removing the 6 screws on the back. The 4 Volt battery is about 1.25 x 1 x .2 very small and not replaceable. There is 1 main PCB with the laser and transmitter-receiver as tiny separate components. There is no visible antenna but that does not seem to degrade it's performance. The keys don't fall out and are built into the face. It looks well made.

PRO:

It works as advertised and I no longer have a full size keyboard clogging up my remote control table. No distance problem for me at all. I have no regrets.

Perhaps even more attractive, the manufacture has been constantly in R&D on this product line; perfecting it and making future upgrades not only possible, but affordable. Even their high end units are under $50 USA

CON:

1. There is no SHIFT-DEL key for permanent delete. You have to send everything to the trash can first. (press FN-DEL

rooCASE Netbook Carrying Bag for Acer Cromia AC761 11.6-Inch HD Chromebook Wi-Fi 3G - Deluxe Series BlackThe rooCASE bag is absolutely perfect for my needs. I love the smaller size which is just right for my Chromebook, and the quality of the bag is very good better than I anticipated it might be. I purchased this carrying bag to take along on road trips that my husband and I make. I could not have found a better product, especially for the cost.

I have never purchased something on the internet where I have been more pleasantly surprised than I was with this case. You never know from a picture on the web, but this is a great product. I bought two of them, one for my wife's Samsung Chromebook and the other for my daughters Acer chromebook. they are the perfect size and have nice extra compartments for a mouse, power cord even a spot for their Kindle's. EXCELLENT, HIGH QUALITY, CONSTRUCTION. My only problem with the case is that I have been unable to find one just like it for my Laptop.

HHI Car Charger for Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7.0 (Package include a HandHelditems Sketch Stylus Pen)

HHI Car Charger for Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7.0Mine works perfectly. It works both for my Kindle Fire HD and my cell phone. The best part is that it comes with its own cord. Some other mobile charges just have a USB port which means you'd also have to carry around the cord you received with the Kindle. I find this item to be more convenient because the car adapter and cord are all in one unit which means I don't have to carry that other cord with me every time I leave the house. I'm going to order a second so I can just leave one in each car so I'll always be covered.

The company's delivery is very poor been waiting 3 weeks for the order still has not arrived. Need it for vacation road had to buy the item from a local retailer. If the items are there when I get back will be returning them. I think they should also refund the amount extra I had to pay for the items I just bought. Amazon should stop using this company since they do not keep their word and from the other posts I read here misrepresent their products!!!

Small Fan & Mini-Air Conditioner: The Original Handy Cooler, Blue

Small Fan & Mini-Air Conditioner: The Original Handy Cooler, Blue
  • Small fan cools air up to 30F. Runs on 4x batteries or USB power (adapter included). Adjustable analog speed control.
  • The original Handy Cooler as featured in the Technology Review magazine (M.I.T.) 2010.
  • Our cooling fan utilizes a 30db whisper-soft turbine system. The perfect desk fan for the office.
  • 90 degree vertical airflow control. Flat bottom surfaces allows easy transformation from a hand held fan to a desk fan.
  • This mini fan produces a 15 knots sensational breeze *measured at outlet vent.
  • Simply add water to activate patent-pending cooling feature.

Since there are controversial discussions if the handy cooler REALLY works, here's my video review of my take on this product. Verdict is, the handy cooler does work and it's a nicely implemented product. The weather here at Palm Springs is great for swamp coolers like this and it gives a nice kick if you freeze the filter. (Sorry about the background construction noise and the wind noise from handy cooler!)

I've had the handy cooler for just over a year now and so far I really like it. It's been lying under my bed for the whole winter, but now the heat is back and I've brought it back in action.

What I liked:

The design. Looks good. Feels good. I like the swivel vent head too.

Portability. I bring it around to classes, work and around home.

Performance. Cools like a charm.

Size and weight.

What I would like to see improved:

Rechargeable lithium battery option. The unit is not capable of recharging batteries. However, I recommend getting 4 rechargeable batteries, and charge them with battery docks. It'll cost you $40+ but will save you on the long run.

Longer cooling duration.

a longer USB cord!

It's a nice little fan with a twist, but be sure to stock up on batteries.

Buy Small Fan & Mini-Air Conditioner: The Original Handy Cooler, Blue Now

Yes, this little puppy really does work as advertised. Just wet the sponge, turn the unit on, and point the air stream at your face.

Ahhhhhh...

The Handy Cooler appears to be well built. The fan is very quiet. You can put the unit on a desk or tabletop, and it will blow a nice stream of cool air at you.

I like the way you can rotate the air head ninety degrees, giving you greater flexibility in positioning the unit. I also like the little water bottle they give you, which holds two "recharges". Yes, they have figured out how much water you can add to keep cool without water dribbling from the unit. They figure you can go from thirty minutes to three hours on a "full" sponge, depending on your environment.

I have told the company that makes the Handy Cooler that they need to introduce a shoulder holster, so you can wear it around and use it hands-free. In the meantime, I am going to see if I can rig up some sort of shoulder sling or something that will suit this purpose.

At any rate, if you hate the heat, the Handy Cooler is the real deal -cool relief to go. HIGHLY recommended.

My only gripe, as another customer commented, is the high UPS shipping charge. A lower-cost USPS shipping option would be welcome...

And yes, I use NiMH rechargeable batteries, and they last for hours on a charge. Ahhhh...

I'm in the Navy, therefore I sleep in a tiny, tiny, often hot space with no air circulation. I ordered this because there is only so much night-sweat and dude-funk one can take in this sort of environment. It just came in the other day, but it appears sufficient to cool a cramped, curtained, coffin-like enclosure! The noise at high-speed is a total non-issue; trust me, the engines drown it out completely. If you're ordering one of these for your sailor, I recommend the pink one. The guys who've seen it all want one, but nobody is going to steal something in pink.

Honestly, I wish it were less expensive, but the build quality is solid enough that I think it'll survive until I get back, and that's really all that counts.

Want Small Fan & Mini-Air Conditioner: The Original Handy Cooler, Blue Discount?

I suffer from Hot Flashes induced by Cancer medications and HRT withdrawals; I found this product to be exactly what I need. I spent a ton of money on small personal fans, all endorsed or made by major retailers like Coleman, Brookstone, Target and many more. I should have invested in this product first. My hot flashes come on about every 45 minutes, 24/7. I have been told by my doctors this can be expected for the next three years. My daughter found the Handy Cooler online and sent me the link. I found the product to be very intriguing, opposed to the pile of personal fans that were cluttering my desktop, end tables, car, purse and trash can. I ordered it immediately.

This little cooler provided immediate relief within seconds of adding batteries and water to the sponge. Now when I start feeling warm I turn on my Handy cooler and the cool air starts flowing. I use it everywhere. It prevents me from turning into a giant mess. I'm on the go and very active indoors and out, this product has been fantastic, for me personally a life and sanity saver. I would recommend this product to anyone. I think it is fairly priced for a personal fan that provides more than a breeze but an actual Cooling effect. Thank you, Handy Cooler.

I don't tolerate heat well at all and when I made plans to attend an all-day outdoor event in Eastern NC a few weeks ago, I knew I had to bring something other than just a sweatband. Stumbled across this on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It is terrific! It fit in my normal-sized fanny pack with an extra set of batteries and the little water bottle, along with a small still camera and a Flip video camera. By midmorning my t-shirt was soaked and I had already wrung out my headband twice, so I found a little shade and fired this guy up. It is just amazing the fan alone would be great, but the air blowing out of it is genuinely cool! Not like your car A/C blasting on max, but still unbelievable. I ran into several people throughout the day who looked and looked and finally said "what IS that?" and I explained and let them try it. I think I made a few sales. Within 20 minutes I had wrung out my headband and stashed it away for the last time that day.

If you're going to be out and using it consistently all day, load up with new batteries in the morning and take an extra set.

I like this so much that I decided to order a replacement sponge (the one the comes with it advertised to last about a year). They come in a two-pack for $10. I thought that was a little pricey for pieces of sponge, but OK. When I saw that the shipping was an additional $12 for two lightweight slices of sponge, I wrote a nastygram to the manufacturer. They wrote back. They are embarrassed by that and are working to develop an alternative that won't cost so much (UPS is going to charge something to deliver a box, no matter what's in it). I work in IT in an order fulfillment/shipping operation and I know it takes a while to put a system in place, so bear with 'em they are trying to get the shipping costs down to a reasonable level. And no, I have no interest of any kind in this company! I'm usually pretty cynical but got the impression these folks are trying to get it right.

All that said, this product is worth every dime I paid, shipping included. I would buy again, and I would recommend to a friend.

BoxWave Garmin Nuvi 200W ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector (Single Pack)

BoxWave Garmin Nuvi 200W ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen ProtectorI bought the GARMIN NUVI 260W Wide Screen ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen protector because of the touch-screen nature of using the GARMIN NUVI GPS and wanting a screen protector that would fit perfectly on my GPS without having to cut anything to size.

Thumb smudges and fingernail scratches are common fears (real or imagined) so do yourself a favor a remove all doubt, and get one of these screen protectors.

The product is designed to fit perfectly over the model that you have so be doubly-sure that you buy the correct size ClearTouch Protector meant for your GARMIN NUVI GPS model. If it's for the Nuvi 200-series, make sure it's for the Wide Screen if you have a GARMIN NUVI wide-screen model (for this review the Garmin NUVI 260W Widescreen GPS).

My only complaint is that this ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector works too well in that it can attract airborne dust. But the screen protector is removable, washable and reuseable so it's just a matter of doing these things if things get too dirty and dusty.

You see, the problem isn't the dust on top as much as the tiny particles of dust that get trapped between the ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector and the surface of the GPS screen itself (this can result in air-bubbles or dust-bubbles).

However, it's not a major problem and won't cause any distortion of the screenview. Nontheless, if you know someone with long, beautiful, lucious (and dangerous) fingernails, a ClearTouch Screen Protector will protect your GARMIN NUVI 260W Widescreen GPS!

I feel better knowing that my Garmin is protected. Application was easy, and screen did not alter the view.

I don't suppose this screen is any better than the next one, but I definitely recommend putting one on your GPS screen, or any screen for that matter, that you don't want getting scratched up.

New Black Leather Case Holster for Blackberry Bold 9000

New Black Leather Case Holster for Blackberry Bold 9000
  • Form-fit design works with Case-mate cases
  • Impact resistant molded shell cradles your Bold providing added protection
  • Genuine Napa leather
  • Ratchet belt clip system allows for full adjustability and maximum comfort
  • Case Mate offer 90 days warranty from the date of purchase

Ive tried many cases for the blackberry bold. This case combo looked great in the begginning but over time I started to realize it faults. The case itself doesnt proctect the bezel 100. There is a part at the top where it doesnt protect the bezel at all. Also the case blocks one of the holes for the speaker. I found this case to be bulky and also very hard to take off. The case was also hard to take out of the holster (probably would get easier over time). This combo does offer good value for the price considering it also comes with a free screen protector and the case is real good quailty leather. The case also gets in the way of typing when using the keys that are close to the bottom and sides. At first this didnt bother me much but over time did get annoying. This case combo does really look nice and classy and offers very good protection for the price.

VuPoint PDSC-IW441-VP Solutions Carrying Case for Magic Wand Portable Scanner
  • Keeps you Magic Wand and accessories safe, secure, and tangle free
  • Avoid scratches and dings

I can't believe the scanner is evem sold without the protective case. It's too easily damaged in the flimsy drawstring bag that came with it. By the time I bought the scanner and a decent memory card, I've got $150 into it. It never would have lasted as long as it has without the case. Space for data cable and spare batteries, too!

Thought it was a bit pricy till I saw it...but this case is worth every penny! It's "luggage" quality, will protect the scanner from almost anything short of being run over by a car. A lot of thought has obviously gone into the design, because the lid has storage for the USD cord, additional flash cards/cases, and even two extra AA batteries and zips completely to keep dust out, making it perfect for storage AND travel, yet it's still not too large to fit into a tote or laptop case. Btw, also love the scanner!

I used this on my last airplane trip since the Pre battery life leaves much to be desired. Unfortunately, it is unable to actually charge the battery. I found it marginally useful insofar as if I kept this plugged in and on, I could slow the battery drain while using the Pre to a manageable amount for the trip. A battery charger that has insufficient power to charge a battery is a FAIL in my book.

Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620

Intel Pentium G620 Dual Core 2.6 GHz Intel HD Graphics Retail LGA 1155 Processor - BX80623G620
  • Processor Type: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Desktop Processor G620
  • Frequency: 2.6 GHz
  • Cache: 3 MB
  • Process: 32 nm
  • Socket: Socket 1155

I bought this CPU to make a low-power, inexpensive media PC for my bedroom to replace the Comcast DVRs I returned. I am not at all disappointed.

So far, I cannot tell the difference in picture quality or performance against the more expensive i3-2100 CPU that's in my main living room HTPC. It's definitely better than the AMD Phenom II x3 705e / HD5670 HTPC system I used to have. Like it's i3-2100 cousin, there is far less color banding, panning is better and the picture is overall just better. That AMD CPU and graphics card were over $200 at the beginning of 2010!

With this CPU, I am able to watch HD video, HD TV and everything else I need to do with my media PC without issue. It runs super-cool and the included fan and heatsink are not audible from across the bedroom. While watching HD video and TV it uses between 40W-50W. It idles under 30W. My old HTPC used 180W-200W and idled around 95W.

I continue to be amazed by the performance, power usage and features you get and this price point for an Intel CPU.

The build:

Intel Pentium G620 CPU

ASUS P8H61-I mini-itx motherboard

Rosewill RS-MI-01 BK mini-ITX case with 120W picoPSU replacing the stock PSU

Kingston V100 64GB SSD

Western Digital 320GB Caviar Blue HDD

Happauge WinTV 1250 tuner card

Rosewill USB wireless-N

Logitech K400 wireless keyboard

120mm Antec Tri-Cool case fan

Custom PSU backplate cover with mount for picoPSU jack

BTW: the title of this product page is incorrect. This is an LGA 1155 CPU, not LGA 1156.

Very impressive performance for such a bargain CPU. I paired it with a Geforce GTX 260 I had out of an older rig and it makes for a fantastic HTPC. I can even play Half Life 2 and World of Warcraft at high settings on my 55" Sony at 1080p, now that was an unexpected bonus.

For real world applications this will handle anything in a productivity suite. With 4gb ram I have been able to have around 6 browser tabs open, Itunes and anything from MS Office 2010 going at the same time with no halts. Adobe CS5 also runs great too.

The only con I can think of is that it doesn't have hyper threading and has a locked multiplier, but this isn't a performance/gaming cpu and that is what I expected. What I didn't expect is to get as much performance as this has for the price. I can't comment on the built in Intel graphics, because I use a discrete GPU, but anyone that has used integrated graphics knows about that, although things are beginning to change.

The price and performance of this processor are simply amazing, it is definitely up to productivity multitasking, HD/Blu-Ray playback, and moderate gaming.

Here is a short comparison with the exact same graphics card and similar components of my old rig based off a Core 2 Duo E6600 overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3.1ghz.

Pentium G620 2.6ghz vs Core 2 Duo E6600@3.1ghz on 3D Mark Vantage (preset = performance)

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8P67-M PRO -EVGA NFORCE 680i LT SLI

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

Processor clock: 2600 MHz -3100 MHz

Memory: 4096 MB Kingston 9 @ 667 MHz -4096 MB Corsair 7 @ 400 MHz

3DMark Vantage Score: 8186.34 -8205.65

CPU Score: 6192.24 -5151.86

Graphics Score: 9170.77 -10226.2

Operating system 64-bit Windows 7

No tweaking or changes were made to any components of the hardware I've used aside from the obviously stated OC on the E6600. I find it very interesting how the cpu score can differ so much and yet the higher scoring cpu, gets a lower overall score. I hope this gives an idea of the ability/ limitation of the Pentium G620 and the contrast of older and newer hardware. Although in different classes, my goal was to show how budget today is on par of more expensive performance of 4 years ago.

I bought a G620 as an essentially disposable placeholder until Ivy Bridge arrives. It's being used with a Biostar z68 motherboard, 2x4GB of GSkill DDR3 2133 memory, and two Crucial SSDs in RAID0.

The current price on Amazon is about as good as it gets. Auction sites advertise the G620 for eight dollars less, but that's for the OEM version that doesn't come with a three year warranty or a stock heatsink/fan. And "no," you don't have to throw the stock cooler away.

I realize that some reviewers just can't live with a CPU cooler that isn't large enough and complex enough to double as the warp coil on the Starship Enterprise. Regardless, the boxed Intel cooler is both quiet and efficient. Temps are around 95 degrees F (35 C) at idle and never exceed 128 F (53 C) at full tilt. Full speed on the stock fan is just under 2,000 RPM, but the Biostar motherboard chooses to run the fan at roughly 1,250 RPM at idle and 1,500 RPM at 100% utilization.

The low temperatures and slow fan speeds are directly attributable to the energy efficiency of the G620. My UPS measures the amount of power drawn from the wall socket. As best as I can judge, the G620 draws 15 watts at idle and 40 watts at 100%. The 65 watt spec is unrealistically pessimistic.

Intel's specs state that the G620 is limited to running memory at DDR3 1066. However, the Biostar motherboard has the GSkill memory running at DDR3 1600 without any input from me. It's unlikely that this actually translates into a significant performance increase, but it was a pleasant surprise.

The G620's CPU multiplier of 26 is locked upwards but unlocked downwards. The Biostar motherboard automatically reduces the multiplier to 16 at low utilization. This contributes to the low idle temperature. Attempting to work around the lock by increasing motherboard clock speed results in some interesting behavior. The CPU is rock solid up to and including 104 MHz (2.7 GHz), but it will not run at all at 105 MHz.

There may be a couple of other features available that Intel intended to lock out. First, Intel's specs state that VT-d is disabled on the G620, but the Biostar's BIOS reports that VT-d is available. This is of no current benefit because no virtualization software supports VT-d as of yet. So, I don't really know whether VT-d is actually available or if the Biostar's BIOS is just mistaken.

Second, DVD Fab reports that Intel Quick Sync is available (and preselected by default) as the H.264 codec. This is unexpected since the G620 is only supposed to have Intel HD1000 graphics. Again, I haven't experimented to confirm whether Quick Sync is really available.

Update 3/30/2012: I'm still satisfied with this purchase. The 620 really is a lot of bang for the buck. However, two issues have surfaced in the last nine months.

First, the Intel boxed fan/cooler is becoming too noisy for me, even with the RPMs dialed down in my motherboard's BIOS. My best guess is that the bearings are wearing out already. I'm still glad that Intel included what is basically a free cooler in the box, because that has allowed me to spread out the cost of building a new computer. I'll buy a good third-party cooler now and just throw the Intel cooler away. It has done its job.

Second, I became dissatisfied with the built in Sandy Bridge graphics. My best guess is that the hardware is OK, but the driver is a long way from being mature. This is unfortunate since I don't play games and don't need a powerful third-party graphics card. It worked OK on Win7 but would never install properly on the MS Dreamworks edition of Server 2008 R2. It also failed to make the best of what Media Player Classic + Lav filters + Reclock + MadVR offers. I ended up buying an nVidia GT440 card for cheap. nVidia updates its drivers regularly while Intel makes only one update per six months, if even that.

I chose this for a recent HTPC build over a Sandy Bridge i5 after reading a few reviews (including these on Amazon) described it as more than capable of handling 1080p video.

I'm glad I made that choice. It's effortlessly handled just about every piece of video I've thrown at it so far (except that one clip from Planet Earth with the thousands of birds over a lake...), and it does an equally admirable job on Windows 7, XBMC (Alaska MQ skin) and my GameEx emulators. My TV doesn't do 3D, so I haven't tested it there, but the reviews I've read made it clear that it doesn't handle 3D content. Keep that in mind.

Also keep in mind that the stock fan can get a bit noisy. It's not generally an issue for me, as it's the Alaska skin, rather than the movies, that taxes the CPU to that degree.

It's a solid choice if you're just getting into the HTPC scene.

edit: For reference, my full build also includes a ASRock H67 Mini-ITX Motherboard and a Corsair XMS3 4 GB RAM kit.

rooCASE Laptop Carrying Bag for Apple MacBook Air 13.3-inch Laptop MC503LL/A MC504LL/A - Red / Black

rooCASE Laptop Carrying Bag for Apple MacBook Air 13.3-inch Laptop MC503LL/A MC504LL/A - Red / Black Deluxe BagI purchased this bag to carry and protect my new MacBook Air 13.3 inch computer, and the bag is excellent. The materials used, the stitching and the design of the bag are all first rate. My computer is snugly nested in a padded interior compartment which has a separate zippered compartment for documents and easily holds two of the newer Kindles in lighted covers, in addition to the computer. On the outside are three zippered compartments, the largest of which has two zippers. This compartment should be adequate for carrying various chargers, for the Kindles, computer, and other devices. It also has four pockets, two of which are for pens, and a large mesh pocket on the opposite side.

For carrying, there are two sturdy handles and a detachable, adjustable and padded shoulder strap.

Finally, this red and black bag is truly beautiful, and a very good value. I heartily recommend this bag to everyone.

Awesome color and fit for my Mac Book Pro 13in. Couldn't ask for more. Great price too. Totally recommended. Buy this!

I chose this bag because its size was perfect for the MacBook Air 13.3 inch. Mosst other bags seemed to be just 113 inch and reviewers talked of tight fits. The bag has room for cords etc. and keeps the computer nicely protected as it is padded. We chose red and think it is quite nice-looking

rooCASE Tablet Carrying Bag for Toshiba Thrive 10.1-Inch Android Tablet - VersaSport Series Black

rooCASE Tablet Carrying Bag for Toshiba Thrive 10.1-Inch Android Tablet - VersaSport Series Black
  • Non-OEM Case for Toshiba Thrive 10.1-Inch Android Tablet
  • Padded tablet compartment with Velcro retaining strap (Netbook NOT included!!)
  • Front Zippered Pocket for Netcard, SD Cards, Pens, Cellphone, Power Cord and AC Adapter.
  • MP3 Compartment with Outlet for Earbuds. Padded Adjustable Shoulder Strap.
  • Strap on the back of case for a rolling upright suitcase.

rooCASE makes terrific products. This is about my third from them, and was bought for a Toshiba Thrive tablet. Unlike my earlier purchase, though, the external pouch, in an attempt to be "stylish," I'd guess, isn't big enought to be completely useful. In addition, the cell-phone pouch on the outside is too small for most modern cell phones. Otherwise, well made, stylish colors.
