PalmOne Tungsten T2 Handheld
- Compact and powerful Palm device with advanced wireless functionality
- Bluetooth-ready, for wireless email and Internet access
- 32 MB of memory
- MP3 and video playback
- What's in the box: Palm Tungsten T2 handheld, Stylus, Premium Screen Protector
So why buy? Why upgrade? If you are a casual user of a Palm that primarily uses the device for occassional reference, stick with the original T. There is some great pricing available right now. But if you use your Palm frequently, the screen and additional memory are worth the upgrade.
The original screen is fine, and until I compared the two devices side by side, I was completely content with it, but a transflective screen is a lot easier to look at for quick glances or extended work sessions. It requires less time to focus on the information you need and while it is completely subjective, I find that has value for me.
If you like to read, ebooks on this device are absolutely incredible, and totally accessible while the device is in closed position.
The additional memory means you won't have to spend any valuable time trying to shoehorn even more programs into the 16mb memory space. 16 megs is plenty, but 32 megs is better.
There are more refinements, all the Tungsten patches are now incorporated into the OS upgrade, the graffiti input has been upgraded to Graffiti 2, which should be easier for new users. But there are text input utilities to customize character recognition anyway you want.
Hunt for a good bargain and jump in. An additional Tungsten model (the T3) will be available before Christmas with some nice specs reported, but when a Palm is this good, there is no compelling reason to wait. This device will still have a good resale value if you can't resist the new model. Something that can't be said for the original T with it's reflective screen.
My 1 month old orignal Tungsten T? My co-worker was still using a M100, I don't think he'll be disappointed with the replacement.
Somebody's got to test these new units.

My palm T2 experienced erratic behaviour after 6 months of operation. This kind of "bug" is also described by other persons in the T2 amazon reviews. The displacement bar moved without control and in the main window, the focus jumped from one application to another. Well, I did the soft reset and finally the hard reset, nothing happened. The incredible thing was that the problem was solved taking out the window plastic protector! I do not know why, but now my palm works fine. So, do not throw away you palm ! just change the protector and see what happen.Read Best Reviews of PalmOne Tungsten T2 Handheld Here
I have used Palm OS devices for about four years. I recently purchased the TT2. I was excited about the product because it had everything that I wanted from a handheld. However, after using it for a day or so, the Voice Memo application started to malfunction. Sometimes it would not record anything no matter what I did. Other times it would record, but when I left Voice Memo then returned to it, the recordings would disappear. Palm Support told me to return the unit, which I did, and exchange it for a new one. Within one hour of using my second TT2 it started to do exactly the same thing! I'm returning it to Palm and I'll be purchasing a handheld by a different company on Monday. I'd be interested to hear whether or not others have experienced problems with the Voice Memo application. Also, I'd like to echo the sentiments of another reviewer: The telephone support for Palm is absolutely HORRIBLE. They route their tech support calls to India, as you may know. As a native American, it was almost impossible for me to communicate with any of the tech representatives. They didn't understand me and I didn't understand them. Also, they don't seem to actually know anything about the technical aspects of the Palm products. As far as I could tell they were just surfing the PalmOne website and reading Knowledge Library entries to me. Dealing with them was one of the worst experiences I've had in months. Literally.

The T2 is an updated version of the original Tungsten, and as such sports a minor upgrade in the OS software as well as a better color screen and more memory -32MB total in RAM, but only 29MB user-accessible. Still that's plenty for a Palm-based PDA. The performance is truly snappy; playing MP3's, which still require a Secure Digital memory card, gives no hiccups. Every thing responds instantanenously. One star taken off for requiring using an SD card for MP3 and video playing. Another star for not including wi-fi (802.11b or g); instead, the less common Bluetooth wireless technology is built-in. You can use BT to talk to BT-enabled cell phones, but it's a hassle. Sure you can buy an Secure Digital wi-fi card soon, but 1) that draws more battery power than built-in wi-fi circuitry, and 2) you can't use wi-fi and expansion memory (or play MP3s) at the same time. What a dumb design! Battery is still not user-replaceable, unlike the new trend with Pocket PCs.Overall, the T2 is pleasant to use and truly compact. But the lack of wi-fi and the need to use expansion for an enhanced experience make it a poor choice for the power user (such as yours truly).I have been a longtime fan of the Palm Operating System and have owned several different models, from the m125, the m130 and I have used several different models including a Sony Clie as well as the m515 and even the Handspring Treo -nothing and I do mean NOTHING compares.
First off, let's talk screen: going from the color of the m130 to the T2 was very much like jumping from a 13" color TV up to a wide-screen plasma HDTV. Simply incredible. You can operate the screen with the backlight or without, saving batteries and making the screen MUCH easier to read outside in sunlight. My m130 was just shy of impossible to read with practically ANY sunlight on it.
Next, storage space. Definitely a nice upgrade from the standard 8mb in the m130. A whopping 32mb's of memory allows me the freedom to add plenty without worrying about transferring it all to my SD card -which by the way took an ETERNITY to access using my old processor. Now I can concentrate using my card for mp3's.
Next, ergonomics. Again, compared to my trusty m130, this is a GIANT leap forward. The compact design is absolutely amazing. I simply cannot tell you how convenient it is that the T2 slides up to reveal the Graffiti writing area, making it still a small device when fully extended, but easily one of the smallest models available especially for during the times when you do not need to write anything down. Just brilliant.
Next, the recorder. I am still in awe of how useful this one item has become to me. I have often wished I could jot something down on the spur-of-the-moment while driving only to put it off for fear of wrecking my vehicle, and ultimately I end up forgetting what it was in the first place. The T2 has totally eliminated this problem for me. Now I record my ideas and reminders on the go and my biggest problem now is remembering to place it within reach while I'm on the road.
The increased accuracy while jotting down a note in memo-pad is a REAL improvement over my m130. I can't tell you how many times I went to write down something quickly only to have the screen screw it up and the handwriting never quite looked natural at ALL. Now the T2 has made all of that look much more like real handwriting and a vast improvement over what they had before.
The vibrate alert is also a VERY handy addition for use during important meetings where being quiet is an absolute MUST.
All in all, I can't remember how many times I have thought to myself: Wow, this thing is incredible! And lately I've been thinking more of why it took me so long to make the switch to something better. I suppose in the long run I kept my m130 mostly because I am a die-hard fan of the Palm OS and since it worked virtually flawless for several years, why upgrade? I guess I dropped it one too many times, and after needing to be re-set almost daily and the battery never fully charges and therefore after losing my current information one more time than I wanted, I made the move -and I am certainly glad I did.
There have been several reviews critical of the T2 for one reason or another, and I am sure they are valid -however in MY personal experience the T2 has worked absolutely PERFECT since day 1 and has given me no problems at all. I am 100% satisfied and cannot even consider a time when I will use a PDA manufactured by ANY other company. Very impressed.

Ectaco C-Pen. 3.0 Multilingual Handheld OCR Scanner Pen
- Selective data entry
- Better data control
- Increased scanning speeds
- Scanning from irregular surfaces
- Recognizes 238 languages
PROS:
It's easy to use; you just press the pointer to the page and a light comes on to let you know that the sensor is active. You then sweep the C-Pen from left to right at moderate speed as if it were a highlighter, and it converts the text on the page into electronic characters on your computer.
The text instantly appears wherever the cursor on your screen is located, so you can use this device with just about any Windows program (e.g., Word, Access, etc.).
The recognition rate is higher than I thought it would be; it's better than 99% on book-sized text. In practical terms, this means that you'll get one or two errors on average per paragraph, but these flaws are easily corrected (particularly if your spell checker highlights them for you automatically).
It's small and easily portable, so you can take it with you to libraries and archives with a laptop.
CONS:
The character recognition is sometimes thrown off by underlining and other marks on the page.
You must use it with a PC or laptop that has a USB port (it doesn't run on batteries like some scanning pens).
Even though it recognizes just about every major language written in Latin, Cyrillic, or Greek letters, it can't handle older typefaces (like German Fraktur). It also has trouble recognizing some symbols (such as footnotes).
You have to scan each line of text one at a time, so it's not necessarily the best solution if you need to copy many pages of text.
The bottom line is that the C-Pen 20 has been an excellent investment for me, and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for an easy way to transfer printed text into an electronic medium.
UPDATE (2011):
I wrote this review almost five years ago. I continue to think highly of this product despite the occasional error, I'm still amazed at how accurately it reads text most of the time. I only have two caveats to add:
1) The original grey and beige C-Pen 20 doesn't work with newer 64-bit versions of Windows, only 32-bit ones. This is tricky if you bought your PC or laptop in the past two years or so, you may be running a 64-bit version of Windows without realizing it (they both look the same to a non-technical user). You can check which version you have by going to Control Panel and selecting "System" it should say "32-bit" or "64-bit" under "System Type." If you have a 64-bit copy of Windows, you'll need to buy the newer C-Pen 3.0 or 3.5, or else see if you can find a black C-Pen 20 (which is also 64-bit compatible).
2) Digital cameras and OCR (optical character recognition) technology have improved dramatically over the past few years. If you need to scan multiple pages of text into electronic form, a digital camera and a good software program (Finereader or Omnipage) might be a better alternative. For saving snippets of text, however, the C-Pen continues to be the best solution.
Buy Ectaco C-Pen. 3.0 Multilingual Handheld OCR Scanner Pen Now
I am a bit of a scanning pen fanatic. I write papers and use them to collect research data. That is why I was excited to see that C-Pen (the best scanning pen manufacturer) had come out with a new model (the first in several years). My expectation was that this model would be far better than the C10 (the previous USB scanner) given the advance in technology since its release. I was pretty disappointed overall. This model is no quicker than the C10 and no more accurate. The software does not do as good a job as the C10 and it is not uncommon to have the pen miss an entire line of text. This is particularly important since I am often scanning very rapidly and don't take time to look up at the screen to see that the text is entered correctly.Overall, not as good as the C10 (which I would give 4 stars), but better than the Iris Pen Executive (2 stars).
Please also note that this pen does not work with Mac computers (the only USB pen that does is the Iris Pen).

I feel completely compelled to write this review for the C-Pen 20. It far exceeds my expectation. I am a graduate student, working on a doctorate at Harvard University. It is a tool, or better yet, a weapon that has reduced my time tremendously. I wish I had it while going through my master's program.I would say that it is about 90% accurate right out of the box without any training. I have had it about 3 weeks now, and with improved technique, I have increased its accuracy to about 95% 97%. I have found it helpful to always perform the stroke left right. It is easier for 2 reason, 1) that is the way humans read and 2) you don't have to readjust the position of your hand.
I would recommend it to anyone who has to do research, or persons who are in a profession where previous documentation is necessary.
Want Ectaco C-Pen. 3.0 Multilingual Handheld OCR Scanner Pen Discount?
I am a money manager in NYC. I probably read over 150 pages of research everyday. In order for me to track ideas and not forget things it is important for me to have some sort of method to organize this information overload. My first purchase was the IRIS Executive pen. It did a horrible job of converting written text into MS WORD, the error rate was over 50% and made the task of cleaning it up twice what it would of been if I just decided to type it. I returned it within 5 days. I went ahead and purchased the C-PEN (with a return policy). What a Difference! I can run through 100 pages of research and condense it into 2 pages with minimal errors. Not only does it create legible conversion (over 90%) but once you lift the pen it creates a space for you..(no need to hit a button on pen) This is probably the only one that should be invested in, they have the idea and technology down pat. C-PEN has made my life easier!in a general sense, this c-pen seems OK, but:there shouldn't be too much light (this is a problem especially at night time, i.e. under a bulb)
you shouldn't expect too much accuracy; i'm using it for Turkish texts and the overall accuracy is around 80%.
quality of the book also effects the result
tables and figures can't be scanned, of course
and finally, you've to be connected to your computer during operation.
Yet, i'm happy with this thing. It reduces the labour necessary to extract large amounts of text. Could be useful especially for PhD students.

Motorola M25 256 MB MP3 Player with FM Tuner
- Flash memory digital audio player with integrated FM tuner
- 256 MB flash memory stores 4 hours of MP3 or 8 hours of WMA
- Expandable via Secure Digital memory cards
- Up to 18 hours of continuous play on just one AAA battery
- Record programming from FM radio, compatible with USB 2.0
The M25 is very light weight and small. It also comes with an arm band, which is great since I work out a lot. The toggle key on the side is a wonderful feature because it facilitates the change of songs and makes the menu more accessible. The lock key on the side also prevents any button from being activated when pushedjust in case the M25 is carried in a purse or pocket.
Furthermore, the sound output is clear & excellent! The earbuds are extremely comfortable and fitted. The design of the earbuds maximizes the sound output. Too bad the earbuds are retractable! Anyways, the volume is adjustable on a scale of zero to thirty, and thirty is destroy-my-eardrums loud! I love this MP3 player and would recommend to any one and every one!!

I was looking for an inexpensive MP3 player that acepted flash memory expansion cards to do the following:Listen to audiobooks.
Listen to music.
Listen to and record FM.
The M25 does all of these things. However, the FM is lousy. I have compared it with several MP3 players and walkmans. I exchanged my original unit with Motorola and got the same FM performance with the replacement unit. This is the main reason that I only gave it 3 stars. It's so weak that I am unable to get a clear station from my house even though all the other radios in the house work fine.
On the positive side, it's an excellent player for audiobooks. The resume feature picks up right where I left off even if I don't use the unit for a week. And it had bookmarks so you can mark a book and go listen to music then come back to your place. Well almost...when you bookmark a large audiobook file it seems to skip back a few minutes. Not a big deal and much easier than fast forwarding through a 10 hour book.
Music is also very good. Excellent sound quality.
The controls on this unit are very nice. I found several units in this price range and one of the big differences was how easy the controls are to use. A nice feature when you're listening to an audiobook and driving a car.
All in all I like the M25 but too bad about the very weak FM.

Got a brand-new M25 (1-year warranty) as my first MP3/WMA player as replacement for a clunky CD player. This M25 is much lighter than the Walkman CD-player it replaced. Also eliminated : the periodic skip that hits the CD player while one is jogging. The music coming out of the supplied earbuds is also pleasant. My unit came with a driver and software CD, a triple-A battery and USB2.0 cable. My Windows-XP computer immediately recognized the M25 as another drive -doing drag-and-drop of files or folders was a cinch. [By the way, I was using the Walkman CD player to listen to Spanish language lessons. For this M25, I ripped the audio into WMA, and now I listen to the WMA-version of the Spanish lessons. The 256MB standard-memory on the M25 is enough space for 3 CD's worth of lessons (in WMA-format) ]
I believe that the full-detailed user manual is on the CD that came with the M25. There is also a paper-version Quick Start Guide which was sufficient to get the player up and running, and to learn basic controls. [However, the QuickStart does not contain instructions on how to properly set time and date but I was able to do this by fiddling around with the buttons. I have also preset a couple of the FM-preset stations.]
The M25-architecture is the appropriate design for my needs (especially for language lessons). The unit remembers the settings as it is turned off. So, at re-start, the M25 resumes play at the exact point of the audio-lesson as when I turned it off. Controls are easy to use and intuitive. I have sufficient command over this the M25 (e.g.,volume control, ski forward/back, volume) without having to look at the controls. Other controls (e.g. choosing from the 5 provided EQ-settings) will require more attention. The M25 also has LCD backlighting - useful for reviewing the ID3 labels during late evening walks that I do.
Sound quality is excellent (whether it comes from the WMA-format Spanish lessons, from the dozen or more songs(MP3 format) which came with the unit, or from FM.] There is a provided armband. The headphones/earbuds have good sound quality. However, I have a fit-problem with the right earbud so I will probably try to locate a better-fitting pair of Sony headphones.
I am pleased with this unit. And since this M25 allows expansion via SD/MMC card, very likely, I will add a 512mb card next week. All in all, this Motorola m25 player is good value for my money.
Want Motorola M25 256 MB MP3 Player with FM Tuner Discount?
For what I paid for this MP3 player, it does exactly what I need it to. Small, cute, and easy to use. Radio tuner is not so hot, but playing tunes works great.I like this little Mp3 player a lot. The only problem is that the head phone has a cover and keeps falling off after a couple days of use. Except that its good. Good Quality sound. The little joy stick by the side is a very easy to navigate.More ove the expandable SD slot is very good idead.
Over all... the product is very good...

Compaq iPAQ 253504-B21 Premier Leather Case for 3600, 3700, 3800, 3900, 5400 series
- Ultrasoft, premium leather case for your iPAQ
- Handy inside pocket is perfect for holding money or an extra memory card
- slots fit business cards or credit cards
- Comes with a slot for your stylus pen
- Fits your 3600, 3700, 3800, 3900, or 5400 series iPAQ
Also, as you should be able to tell from the picture, it is a bit bulky. If you use it, you iPaq is no longer a "Pocket" PC, but it will fit nicely in your laptop bag, briefcase, or (for the ladies) your purse. I wish there were some clever way for it to attach to one's belt in such a manner that it could slide in and out for relatively easy access. Oh well, I guess we'll never see a product like that...

Buy 3049 Data/Fax Modem - Serial - 1 x RJ-11 Phone Line, 1 x RS-232 Serial - 56 Kbps Now
I bought this modem specifically for use with our faxserver. I only bought one initially for testing because many "fax modems" don't always reset correctly everytime. We've only had this for a few months, but it's done a great job. I'm getting ready to buy another one.I made the mistake of buying four MultiTech MT5634ZBA-USB fax modems a while back, and frequently had to disconnect/reconnect them to force a reset.
I would recommend the external Zoom 3049 as a fax modem.

Epson LabelWorks Clear LC Tape Cartridge ~3/4-Inch White on Clear (LC-5TWN9)
- Print up to 4 lines on 3/4" media (LW-400 only)
- Nearly 30ft of tape (9M) enables you to print more
- Features a split-back design for easy peeling
But: No 3/4" tapes fit the LW-300, yet when I look today several are in both of those lists on its page. I realised this too late to return it, took it out when I needed a clear label and it wouldn't fit, so I'm stuck with it.
The LW-300 isn't bad, uses a lot of label on each side of what is printed.
I wasn't going to Rate the item, but it's mandatory.

Thought it was a bit pricy till I saw it...but this case is worth every penny! It's "luggage" quality, will protect the scanner from almost anything short of being run over by a car. A lot of thought has obviously gone into the design, because the lid has storage for the USD cord, additional flash cards/cases, and even two extra AA batteries and zips completely to keep dust out, making it perfect for storage AND travel, yet it's still not too large to fit into a tote or laptop case. Btw, also love the scanner!I have 3 children under the age of 6, so it was important for me to buy something that would protect my scanner. this is great! The pockets hold everything (although, they're oddly placed) and the scanner slips in and out easily. You won't be disappointed!Want VuPoint PDSC-IW441-VP Solutions Carrying Case for Magic Wand Portable Scanner Discount?
Very well designed, solid case for the VuPoint portable scanner. The scanner fits snugly and is held in place by an elastic band. There is extra storage for SD cards and USB Cable. For $20 average, You can't go wrong. The nylon sleeve that comes with the scanner is not adequate protection for travel this case is rigid, compact and has a nice soft leather-like exterior that looks easy to keep clean and it will definately provide adequate protection.Very convenient carrying case. Carries extra batteries, cord, and extra memory card. It protects the wand well, too, if you were to drop it. Great product if you are going to buy the VuPoint Wand.Product arrived well packaged and shipped fast. Well satisfied.VuPoint Solutions Carrying Case for Magic Wand Portable Scanner (PDSC-IW410-VP)

We are pleased.I needed a new battery for my Palm M500. I found this to be a perfect match and the price was very good compared to OEM by Palm. It came with a tool kit as well as instructions to step me through the battery replacement. very goos deal and fast shipping on the part of the seller.I depend on my PDA, and have for years. It has all the information that I need to survive. My PDA was not holding a charge for very long, time to change the battery. This product is an excellent replacement.
