2.4GHz Wireless Handheld Rechargable Optical Trackball Mouse with USB Receiver

2.4GHz Wireless Handheld Rechargable Optical Trackball Mouse with USB Receiver
  • 2.4GHz Wireless connectivity with working distance within 32ft (10m). Hold in hand or place on any surface
  • Plug and Play. Precise optical tracking
  • Compatible with: Windows98, 2000, XP, VISTA, win 7, Linux, Unix, Mac OS
  • Package includes: 1 x Wire Trackball Mouse, 1 x Receiver, 1 x Cable, 1 x Bag

Great idea. A portable trackball with the potential to be a mouse is stunning, with wireless capability would made it ideal to pack-in-go. However, the angle where you hold the mouse with your ring and pinky fingers is slightly angled more than it should be; it's like trying to hold the bottom end of a golf club upside down, it doesn't feel quite right; the odd feeling can be ignored, but it would have helped if the designers decreased the angle by a few degrees. The trackball is one of it's best perks, you can hold the wireless mouse in any position and all you need is your thumb to move the courser on the computer. The only downfall to the trackball that it doesn't work 20-40% of the time that you're using it it will give out, and you end up having to wiggle the trackball a little to get it to respond again.

Good little device if you want extreme portability and like to swap between a trackball and mouse; bad if you're picky about how you hold your mouse and if you don't like your trackball not working 20-40% of the time.

I can see how the product could bend easily, but I don't care I love it and would buy it again! GREAT deal for $11! (***This was the only case I found that has all these features...and I did a lot of searching)

Instapark® 532nm Powerful Green Laser Pointer Astronomy and Military Grade(Click-on, Click-off swit

Instapark® 532nm Powerful Green Laser Pointer Astronomy and Military Grade(Click-on, Click-off switch)
  • * Range is over 12,000 ft;Green Laser Pointer
  • * Waveleght: 532nm;* Output Power:<5mW
  • * Click-on, Click-off switchBest for astronomy
  • * Diameter 3/4in, Lenght 4 3/8in
  • * Batteries:1 pc CR2 Lithium (Included).

For years, I've been looking for one of these high powered green laser pointers, but they've been too expensive for my budget. The Instapark 532nm is an affordable* green laser pointer. It is easy to use. The rear button turns the device on and off. The thirty second safety is a great feature to prevent a heavy dose of radiation in case the light accidentally turns on in your pocket or pack. In terms of style, the device has a rugged military look. The laser pointer is great for astronomy or long distance signaling. Given the intensity, I wouldn't use such a tactical light in an office presentation or in a game of laser kitty. There are two potential drawbacks to the Instapark 532nm. First, it uses CR2 batteries which are difficult to find. The other potential problem is the device's susceptibility to water damage. The directions indicate that the item may not work properly after wet. In a day and age when flashlights have been waterproof for decades, it seems odd that such a tactical looking device could be damaged by a leaky canteen in your backpack. All in all, the Instapark 532nm is a great high powered laser pointer.

*At the time of review, I acquired my Instapark 532nm for $22.10 ($29.05 with shipping and handling). Since then, the seller has raised the price considerably. Naturally, this is no longer such a great value as the cost is now typical of similar products.

At first I thought this was pretty cool. After about 3 weeks it stopped working. I thought it was the battery so I bought a new one (not cheap). Laser still doesn't work.

This is not high power. I have green lasers of the pen type that cost $8 to $12 each that make this one look like a toy. The Military would never buy a piece of junk like this although for its performance it is priced in a military way (way over priced). SAVE YOUR MONEY buy one of the cheaper pen lasers.

I've never owned a green laser but being that I was a kid once, I've hand many of the red ones. Green certainly is far brighter to the human eye and I can place an 8' dot on the side of a building that is over 2 miles from my home. The construction is great, of course it would be practically impossible to construct it poorly if you're machining it from solid aluminium. The problems with this can be summed up in three words, Made In China. The laser sprays a little more than normal up close, presumably from the cheap lens. After a couple of weeks the laser started to dim to the point that you can't see it from across the room. Once it was so dim that it oddly only emitted infra-red light. For those of you thinking "just change the batteries", well you can "recharge" the batteries by banging it around until the loose/corroded connections inside the crappy click switch meet up again. It would probably withstand being run over by a semi truck but it cant withstand day to day field use. I would pass on it if I had to buy another green laser and go for one I know is not Chinese quality.

Save 51% Off

Purchased this laser with the understanding that it was 50mw. It is no brighter than my previous green laser that I purchased off of ebay for a few bucks, which came from China, and was a 5 mw. It I might add has had hours and hours of enjoyment and is still working great.

This laser does have the nice on off button, as well as a better case, but is no where close to being what they say as far as power. Side by side my cheapy from China is a tad brighter and has a smaller / tighter focal point a block down the way.

1 star for the nice case and on off button....

Save your money.

The Elephant Design Protective Decal Skin Sticker (Matte Satin Coating) for Samsung Series 5 Chromeb

The Elephant Design Protective Decal Skin Sticker for Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 121 inch XE500C21-H02US Netbook
  • The Elephant art-quality design with (Matte Satin Coating)
  • Comes in 2 pieces of decal sticker to maximum the coverage on the outer lid and inner palm wrist area (as shown on image).
  • ONLY works with your Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 12.1 inch XE500C21-H02US (released May 2011) Netbook.
  • Can be easily applied and easily removed using this vinyl decal's unique channeled adhesive that also prevents air bubbles and sticky residue.
  • Vinyl material offers flexibility and lowered weight when compared to a hard shell or hard case. It IS NOT a hard case cover or faceplate.

This decal is cute and fits the cover decently but there are a few flaws. The main cover has a circle cut out for the chrome logo but it is in the wrong spot. No matter which way you turn it, it will be wrong. Second, it comes with a small decal to place over the face of the black charger part and the hole to go over the green "on" light is also in the wrong spot. I used an exact o knife to cut it in the right spot and it turned out OK but there is still the small square of nothing, no biggie. Lastly, The decal to put in the mouse pad and keyboard area of the lap top is just all kinds of silly. I still haven't put it on because I need to take the exact o knife to it as well. Over all it isn't a crappy sticker-like decal as I expected. It definitely should be considered for a price reduction though. Over all, I like it and it really was more for decoration than protection for me.

Targus 2 in 1 Stylus + Pen for Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4th Generation, iPad mini, 16GB,

Targus 2 in 1 Stylus + Pen for Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4th Generation, iPad mini, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB WiFi + 4G, iPhone, iPod, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy, BlackBerry Playbook
  • Allows users to type accurately and comfortably;use to take notes, draw or turn a page soft.
  • Stylus works on all capacitive touch surfaces.
  • It is 4 3/4 inch long and RoHS compliant.

This capacitive stylus works really well! Of course, the coolest feature of the Targus '2 in 1' (and worth the extra $10) is that the other end is a convenient ball point pen that uses standard Parker ball point refills.

I bought the 'Targus 2 in 1' stylus primarily for two iPad apps: 'Write Pad' the leading handwriting recognition app for the iPad and, 'Penultimate' a really cool app to hand write notes on my iPad. This '2 in 1' stylus is also a handy high quality ball point pen. So, I carry around this neat stylus in my pocket for conventional note taking.

SEE MY PHOTOS IN CUSTOMER IMAGES

PROS:

The stylus has a soft, durable rubber tip that won't scratch the screen (I prefer to use my iPad without any screen protector). Durability is not an issue ... this stylus is well made!

The yielding rubber tip is comfortable to use with the iPad's capacitive touch surface. I quickly adjusted to writing and doing simple drawings with this stylus.

Although the iPad is a touch screen device, using the stylus in other apps certainly helps in keeping the screen smudge-free!

I use my stylus to play the iPad version of the word game 'Boggle'. I can link the 'Boggle' words much faster with the stylus instead of swiping the screen by hand! :))

In cold weather, using my iPad or iPod Touch screen becomes a problem. Unless I am wearing capacitive touch screen gloves, then I must first remove my regular gloves to use the Touch Screen. The solution? Keep my regular gloves on and use my stylus :))

The stylus ball point pen (on the opposite end) uses easy to find and affordable standard Parker ball point refills.

The Black Targus '2 in 1' Stylus has a nice classic appearance. It also has a comfortable 'weighty feel' for writing whether its using the ball point pen on conventional paper or the stylus on a capacitive screen.

CONS:

Measuring just about 5 inches, I find the stylus a bit too short. Add another half to one inch and this would be the perfect capacitive stylus! Despite this shortcoming (pun intended LOL), this Targus '2 in 1' Stylus and pen is a most useful product design!

A cover/cap would definitely protect the stylus rubber tip, especially if you store your stylus in your bag! I use the handy pocket clip so, for me, the absence of a stylus tip cover is not an issue.

NOTE: If all you need is a stylus (without the ball point pen) then I recommend the Targus Stylus.

Buy Targus 2 in 1 Stylus + Pen for Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4th Generation, iPad mini, 16GB, Now

The stylus is beautifully designed and very well made, and feels great in your hand -until you start using it. It's too short for most people, but that's actually the least of its problems. The stylus doubles as a standard pen, with a removable cap. I would have preferred some sort of retractable pen, but I knew I was getting a cap, and I can't complain about that. However, the cap does not fit on the back of the stylus. When you remove the cap to use the pen, you have to either hold it, or put it down and risk losing it. And, although the cap has a pocket clip, the clip is so tight it takes two hands to clip the pen to a shirt pocket (or anything else). Considering what this stylus cost, I expected something close to perfection. It's too nice to return, but it is a disappointment.

Read Best Reviews of Targus 2 in 1 Stylus + Pen for Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4th Generation, iPad mini, 16GB, Here

I have tried a number of options for using a stylus on my iPad and all have been disappointing. The Pogo stylus models all feel like using a Q-tip as an input device. However, the Targus stylus feels so smooth with it's soft rubber tip. The iPad is just as responsive to this stylus as it is to a human finger. One thing I was impressed with was the weight of the pen, it feels perfectly weighted and balanced in hand. You will not have to worry about scratches. Styluses are not cheap and I was getting very tired I wasting money on disappointments. Finally, I found a winner! If you are impatient like me then you can find this stylus/pen at BestBuy for $30.00 or the strictly stylus model for $20.00.

I carry this little GEM with me every where I go and keep it by my bedside table for my Kindle Fire, READY anytime. I really hope I DON"T ware outthe rubber tip on this little guy. It's a TERRIFIC product. I use it constantly turning all the pages reading any magazings, books and especially working with those FAST-MOVING Games.

The Targus 2 is saving my SCREEN om my KINDLE FIRE HD 8.9 and it's a lot easier to move around the screen than trying to move my little finger on those tiny, tiny places on the game boards and between instructions on the games. I really like enjoy this pen. It is worth every dollar.

This battery was delivered promptly, from the vendor, SF Planet. (That's the one star.) It was DOA. In spite of the fact that I was not having a problem with my iPAQ 2415 and its elderly HP battery, I tried 2 cables and the cradle. Finally, as recommended, I "charged" the battery for 30 hours. Still dead.

I went to the web site and requested an RMA. No acknowledgement, no RMA.

If anyone is interested, the manufacturer is "Cameron Sino", it is marked 2850 mah, and the contacts are correctly placed for this application.

The back cover that came with the battery is defective; it was missing a small push pin that was designed to disconnect the battery power when the cover is not attached to the device. I used a small piece of paper clip as a temporary work-around, but I would prefered to have had a working cover for the battery.

Carrier has more padding than lesser priced bags. Twice as much.....so you get what you pay for!

Extra pockets let you carry whatever else you need so one bag is enough. It does have a smell as I'm finding all padded bags do. However, this bag aired out quickly. Definitely worth the price!

Ectaco C-Pen 3.5 BT Bluetooth Handheld Scanner

Ectaco C-Pen 3.5 BT Bluetooth Handheld Scanner
  • Can scan and load printed text to your computer with no strings attached.
  • Bluetooth design allows on-the-go scanning up to 30 feet from your computer or mobile device
  • Perfect fit for both left and right handed users allowing text to be scanned in a simple and comfortable way.
  • Scanning speed up to 15 cm/sCharacter size 5-22 points
  • Abbyy FineReader OCR Engine 8 with support for PC/Mac

After seeing all the positive and negative reviews for the Ectaco C-pen 20, I decided to take the dive and buy the Bluetooth version of Ectaco's handheld text scanner for my wife. I was apprehensive because there are no reviews for this product, but figured we could return the scanner if it didn't work.

My wife uses the scanner pen to scan text and notes from her law school classes. She stinks at typing, so being able to scan all the text she needs into her class outlines is a *huge* timesaver for her.

Caveats: we are on Vista as our operating system.

Pros:

Easy setup (make sure you follow the directions; DO NOT plug in the scanner prior to loading the software).

Scans accurately and quickly when plugged in via USB; see Cons for the story on Bluetooth mode.

Picks up the following kinds of text without problems: highlighted texts, text in books (make sure the pages are flat, though), or underlined text (provided your underline doesn't go through the text; see Cons)

Picks up kooky symbols, like the ones I found in some of my wife's textbooks (deltas, ampersands, etc.)

Cons:

Doesn't scan text well if you have underlined text and some of your underlining moves up through the printed text.

Doesn't scan very well in Bluetooth-only mode. Essentially, you have about 2-3 seconds to scan your line of text before the light on the scanner goes out and it transmits to your computer. I have no idea what the heck the deal is, but if the Bluetooth part of this scanner is really what you're looking for, I would recommend you *not* buy this product.

Scanner doesn't seem like the most well-constructed thing in the world, *but* it has held up well so far, so that might be a non-issue.

Overall: This text scanner does just fine when it's plugged in to the computer via USB cord. My wife really does save a lot of time in her studies. But, as I mentioned above, the Bluetooth really doesn't function very well at all. I originally gave this product 5 stars because it did exactly what it promised, but I'm changing my rating to (a very generous) 3 stars now that we've found out that the Bluetooth part of the show is so bad. Hopefully Ectaco will fix this in their next system update?

Buy Ectaco C-Pen 3.5 BT Bluetooth Handheld Scanner Now

I am an Information Systems Analyst and one of my tasks it to check on the assets we have regularly. This involves taking serial numbers of PCs laptops, monitors, etc. I was finding a way of making my inventory check simple. Since it involved having to look at a serial number, writing it down, crosschecking and then finally inputting it into an excel sheet.

After searching for something that could make my life easier, I found the Ectaco Bluetooth C-Pen

I just finished testing the device this morning and I must say I was very impressed.

It comes highly recommended.

It can scan data from any printed material even invoices.

It can also scan

* Dell service tags pasted on the system unit.

* Serial number on the laptop adapter

* Computer names we print with the labeller and paste on the PCs.

* Phone serial number on the phone box/packaging.

Because it can also be used wirelessly. It can also scan from a range. I've only tested up to 5meters.

One of the things it has problems with when scanning is scanning anything on a shiny surface eg. The OPTIPLEX 780 on the front of the Dell machines and the serial numbers on the sollatek ultima 800 UPS.

Aside that, I believe it will be a great device to make our work easier and to keep us on top of our assets.

Read Best Reviews of Ectaco C-Pen 3.5 BT Bluetooth Handheld Scanner Here

I'm using c-pen 3.5 to scan text from books written in English and in Polish (lots of additional diacritic signs so challenging for any OCR) on a Macbook pro with Snow Leopard system. For that purpose and on that system cpen 3.5 works just great. When its connected to the USB its very fast and accurate. When it is connected via bluetooth it works bit slower and with some errors but still with impressive quality.

Its true that it doesnt recognize underlined text very well but beside that I didnt notice many problems. I was using it also when book was on my knees and accuracy was bit worse then.

I had some problems at the begining as I couldnt switch the default language to Polish but I was helped by support and they fixed the problem in 24h by giving me line of code to write in the terminal and that fixed the bug in the software. I was told that they are going to fix that in next version of software.

Installation and pairing with bluetooth could be more intuitive from the point of view of macuser. I cant switch of the sound of succesfull scan which of course can be eliminated by turning of system sound but its a bit annoying. But other than that the product does all I need. So far worth its price.

Want Ectaco C-Pen 3.5 BT Bluetooth Handheld Scanner Discount?

First I should caveat my critique with the statement that I don't have very good eye-hand coordination and my hands shake a lot. People that don't have these problems might have better luck with this product.

What I had hoped to accomplish with this product was to scan in single words for translation. I'm trying to learn Spanish and I thought what a great thing it would be if I could just scan a word and get the definition. Previously, and still, I would read Spanish text with my fingers on my keyboard and type the word I didn't know into www.spanishdict.com hit enter, and get the answer. Well I don't type that well and this is an awkward way of reading a book. This product would have been perfect for me had it worked. Since the button on the C-Pen can be defined to be "enter" I would only need the book and the C-Pen. What could be better than this?

Well it doesn't work for me. I'm not that precise. If the pen projected cross-hairs on the text perhaps I'd do better, but I can't tell where the scan starts and where it ends. It's very difficult to scan a single word. If the word ends in punctuation I would challenge anyone to scan just the word.

Well I never got around to returning the product within the time limits so my only hope now is that someone writes and publishes a plugin that filters out single words. If I scan "\i someone wh( " (actually scan) the filter should pick out "someone" as the target word. If I had this I'd be happy even though getting a connection through Bluetooth is an ordeal.

I think this is my first review on Amazon. Been buying stuff for ages, but felt I should finally contribute. There wasn't a lot of reviews on this compared to other products on the market, but this seemed like one of the top ones (based on price) and I was in a hurry to get a pen reader so I got it shipped next day.

One con, no software seems to be included. I had to go to their website to download the software to run this on my PC, took a min or so to install.

Once I had the software installed I plugged it in, tested it out and it really blew me away. This is my first pen/portable scanner and this is going to save me TONS of time! I have to enter long alphanumberic codes into boxes all day. Doing it by hand led to mistakes and wasted time. This thing is super quick, I scan the code and glance up at the monitor and its already all typed in perfectly with spaces and everything.

For what I need it to do, it does it wonderfully!

MoKo(TM) Vertical Flip Detachable Cover Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet / Nook Color, BLACK

MoKo(TM) Vertical Flip Detachable Cover Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet / Nook Color, BLACK
  • Designed specifically for Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet / Nook Color (tablet NOT included).
  • Detachable inner sleeve for handheld operation; the inner sleeve reattaches to the case by velcro.
  • Magnetic closure. Access to all features and controls.
  • Simple and stylish adjustable stand for adjustable hands-free reading with portrait and landscape view.
  • Clear vision, without any view blocking when you read on your Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet / Nook Color.

This is a really well designed case!

I have been through a few returns to Amazon trying to find a case that is minimal, lightweight, and most importantly, supports my Nook Tablet in Vertical/Portrait Orientation for reading.

This case surprised me with its thoughtful design, and I'm keeping it!

Since the Photos in the product description don't do it justice, I will try to explain this thing a little better.

The case can be separated into 2 parts:

Padded Sleeve that fits snugly over the Nook, protects the back, all sides, and pads the frame around the screen. There is a hole in the bottom for easy charging and it's easy to access the memory card slot. Nook is secured snugly by a Velcro tab that tucks in the top. There's a big Velcro patch on the back of the sleeve that attaches to the ...

Rigid, Padded Stand that folds across the bottom and all the way up to protect the screen. This is secured at the top by some light magnets, feels like it won't pop open accidentally but not so strong that I'm worried about my credit cards. In this closed position the Nook is protected completely. When you open the magnetic closure above the Nook's screen, the rigid screen cover becomes a flat surface with 3 ridges to prop your Nook up at different angles. This is the feature I was searching for in other cases, since I use my Nook primarily for reading. If you want to watch a movie you can undo the sturdy Velcro connecting the Stand to the Sleeve, and rotate your Nook, using the stand the same way for Landscape/Sideways Orientation.

The case is made of black fake leather on the outside, and bright orange fake leather on the inside. The orange accents are pretty visible even when the case is closed. It came with a wrist strap too, which I took off right away.

It's lightweight, and does add some thickness to the Nook, but if you detach the Stand and use just the Sleeve, the Nook is slim and protected.

I couldn't be happier with this purchase, and I hope my description helps you make an informed decision!

I was really excited to get this case. It looked like the best deal out there. I was a little disappointed when I used it, though. I like that it is a protective case that also serves as a stand for propping up my Nook, and that it works both vertically and horizontally. However, if you are using this case while watching movies or listening to music on the Nook, you have to plug it into larger speakers, because the case completely covers the speaker on the back of the Nook, muffling the sound quite a bit. I had a hard time hearing my music at all with the Nook in the case, and I had it at full volume.

Part of the reason I got this case was so I could prop up the Nook for my son to watch movies, but he can't hear the sound... kind of frustrating :(

As some reviewers have already described the product in excellent detail, I'll give you my opinion based on my own experience. I was searching for a cover and stand that would work for my kids' new Nooks. The price point was pefect, since I had to buy two of them and they did not need to be anything especially sleek, just sturdy, lightweight and hardworking. The synthetic leather is of excellent quality. There is no visible glue and the seams are well stitched, I was very impressed with how well it's made. I am confident that they will hold up to the wear of kids under 10 and keep their devices protected. As mentioned by others, the orange accents are visible even when closed, which I think gives it a nice visibility for the kids to keep track of it in their backpacks and also a jazzy look. I also removed the straps, and instead added my own color-coded straps to differentiate the two for each kid. The Velcro is very strong (it's also pretty loud when seperating the stand from the covered device, a consideration for air travel or school use. But a majority of the cases out there with stands also have Velcro, so I would not downgrade the rating for that.) Having the ability to prop up the devices either horizontally or vertically for gaming, reading or watching movies is exactly what I was looking for. Another great feature is that the top flap that is magnetized to protect the screen when closed up actually folds back behind the Nook, so you don't have to seperate the two parts to hold the device in your hands, such as for gaming. This is great for kids: because everything stays together, there is less of a chance of losing the stand part of the case due to having to seperate the stand for handheld use. Altogether, it meets all the criteria I was searching for, and I was impressed with this product.

This is the third case I've bought for my color nook, and I think it's a keeper! The durability of this case is outstanding. With my toddler taking my "book" to play his games or read his stories, I don't have to worry about him dropping and breaking it. The versatility of the product is even more appealing. That I can turn my nook vertical (for reading) or horizontal (for Angry Birds) is incredibly handy! And I love the stand. I wasn't sure I was going to like this product when purchasing it, but thought I'd try it out. I'm glad that I did. I love it! And it's SF Giants colors too! How can it miss? =)

Ectaco C-Pen. 3.0 Multilingual Handheld OCR Scanner Pen

Ectaco C-Pen. 3.0 Multilingual Handheld OCR Scanner Pen
  • Selective data entry
  • Better data control
  • Increased scanning speeds
  • Scanning from irregular surfaces
  • Recognizes 238 languages

As a scholar who works with books and other printed sources a lot, I have long been on the lookout for an easy way to scan text into my laptop. I've tried using both flatbed scanners and digital cameras for this purpose, but I've found both to be awkward and time-consuming. That's why I was pleased to discover the C-Pen 20 it's not perfect, but it does the job quicker and more easily than any of the alternatives.

PROS:

It's easy to use; you just press the pointer to the page and a light comes on to let you know that the sensor is active. You then sweep the C-Pen from left to right at moderate speed as if it were a highlighter, and it converts the text on the page into electronic characters on your computer.

The text instantly appears wherever the cursor on your screen is located, so you can use this device with just about any Windows program (e.g., Word, Access, etc.).

The recognition rate is higher than I thought it would be; it's better than 99% on book-sized text. In practical terms, this means that you'll get one or two errors on average per paragraph, but these flaws are easily corrected (particularly if your spell checker highlights them for you automatically).

It's small and easily portable, so you can take it with you to libraries and archives with a laptop.

CONS:

The character recognition is sometimes thrown off by underlining and other marks on the page.

You must use it with a PC or laptop that has a USB port (it doesn't run on batteries like some scanning pens).

Even though it recognizes just about every major language written in Latin, Cyrillic, or Greek letters, it can't handle older typefaces (like German Fraktur). It also has trouble recognizing some symbols (such as footnotes).

You have to scan each line of text one at a time, so it's not necessarily the best solution if you need to copy many pages of text.

The bottom line is that the C-Pen 20 has been an excellent investment for me, and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for an easy way to transfer printed text into an electronic medium.

UPDATE (2011):

I wrote this review almost five years ago. I continue to think highly of this product despite the occasional error, I'm still amazed at how accurately it reads text most of the time. I only have two caveats to add:

1) The original grey and beige C-Pen 20 doesn't work with newer 64-bit versions of Windows, only 32-bit ones. This is tricky if you bought your PC or laptop in the past two years or so, you may be running a 64-bit version of Windows without realizing it (they both look the same to a non-technical user). You can check which version you have by going to Control Panel and selecting "System" it should say "32-bit" or "64-bit" under "System Type." If you have a 64-bit copy of Windows, you'll need to buy the newer C-Pen 3.0 or 3.5, or else see if you can find a black C-Pen 20 (which is also 64-bit compatible).

2) Digital cameras and OCR (optical character recognition) technology have improved dramatically over the past few years. If you need to scan multiple pages of text into electronic form, a digital camera and a good software program (Finereader or Omnipage) might be a better alternative. For saving snippets of text, however, the C-Pen continues to be the best solution.

I am a bit of a scanning pen fanatic. I write papers and use them to collect research data. That is why I was excited to see that C-Pen (the best scanning pen manufacturer) had come out with a new model (the first in several years). My expectation was that this model would be far better than the C10 (the previous USB scanner) given the advance in technology since its release. I was pretty disappointed overall. This model is no quicker than the C10 and no more accurate. The software does not do as good a job as the C10 and it is not uncommon to have the pen miss an entire line of text. This is particularly important since I am often scanning very rapidly and don't take time to look up at the screen to see that the text is entered correctly.

Overall, not as good as the C10 (which I would give 4 stars), but better than the Iris Pen Executive (2 stars).

Please also note that this pen does not work with Mac computers (the only USB pen that does is the Iris Pen).

I feel completely compelled to write this review for the C-Pen 20. It far exceeds my expectation. I am a graduate student, working on a doctorate at Harvard University. It is a tool, or better yet, a weapon that has reduced my time tremendously. I wish I had it while going through my master's program.

I would say that it is about 90% accurate right out of the box without any training. I have had it about 3 weeks now, and with improved technique, I have increased its accuracy to about 95% 97%. I have found it helpful to always perform the stroke left right. It is easier for 2 reason, 1) that is the way humans read and 2) you don't have to readjust the position of your hand.

I would recommend it to anyone who has to do research, or persons who are in a profession where previous documentation is necessary.

I am a money manager in NYC. I probably read over 150 pages of research everyday. In order for me to track ideas and not forget things it is important for me to have some sort of method to organize this information overload. My first purchase was the IRIS Executive pen. It did a horrible job of converting written text into MS WORD, the error rate was over 50% and made the task of cleaning it up twice what it would of been if I just decided to type it. I returned it within 5 days. I went ahead and purchased the C-PEN (with a return policy). What a Difference! I can run through 100 pages of research and condense it into 2 pages with minimal errors. Not only does it create legible conversion (over 90%) but once you lift the pen it creates a space for you..(no need to hit a button on pen) This is probably the only one that should be invested in, they have the idea and technology down pat. C-PEN has made my life easier!

in a general sense, this c-pen seems OK, but:

there shouldn't be too much light (this is a problem especially at night time, i.e. under a bulb)

you shouldn't expect too much accuracy; i'm using it for Turkish texts and the overall accuracy is around 80%.

quality of the book also effects the result

tables and figures can't be scanned, of course

and finally, you've to be connected to your computer during operation.

Yet, i'm happy with this thing. It reduces the labour necessary to extract large amounts of text. Could be useful especially for PhD students.

HandStands 13820 HandStands Super Size Sticky Pad

HandStands 13820 HandStands Super Size Sticky Pad5 Star rating is for the Super Sticky Pad itself, Excellent product, fantastic. Works great even on Leather Dash. However, the listing here is way overpriced. I am really happy with Amazon.com but this can't be overlooked. I ordered these directly from Handstands, not Amazon. I got two on Handstands for the price of one here on Amazon. The reseller that is distributing these for Amazon is ripping customers off, Sorry I call it like I see It.

It does not lie flat. The edges roll up. Purchased during the earliest of spring months, I thought that the warmer days, and sun through the windshield would assuredly take care of that issue. However, the product edges refuse to adhere and lie flat to the dash.

It does hold things without losing them as you drive. I travel the roads of Vermont. Some are pothole, frost heave rich, and even dirt roads can be found here and there. Still my cell, glasses, and pretty much anything (sans drinks) remain steady and put.

Now, if they can only fix the edges .. it would be a fine product!

SanDisk 512 MB CompactFlash Card, SDCFB-512-A10 (Retail Package)

SanDisk 512 MB CompactFlash Card, SDCFB-512-A10
  • 512 MB CompactFlash
  • Removable data storage system
  • Ultracompact
  • Industry-standard compatibility
  • For use in digital cameras, PDAs, HPCs, personal communicators, and MP3s

Although a good steal at this price, I would recommend against this card if you were in dire need of speed. This card scored very poorly in the ratings of other cards. I initially thought it would be good to get in on a cheap deal, since this card is cheaper than the other ones. However, since I got the item, I've noticed that it's slower than my other cards, much slower. According to dpreview.com, this card only shows a 14x read (2,085 KB/s) and a measly 6x write (855 KB/s)! If you have one of the newer cameras, like the canon powershot s230, I'd recommend against it! Also, if you had a dell axim or ipaq, you'll notice the speed difference immediately when you try to upload programs on to the card!

Ok for people with like to wait, and people who just want storage not speed, but I'd pay the extra money just for the faster speeds offered by kingston, simpletech or viking.

If you like sandisk, their ultra series are much better.

Hi Folks,

I own several of these and am a professional photographer.

Don't let technical discussions of how fast or slow the card is steer you away from this deal. Speeds are influenced by many factors and I have never encountered any problems. The Sandisk's price was lowered again recently, and I'll be buying another.

Read Best Reviews of SanDisk 512 MB CompactFlash Card, SDCFB-512-A10 (Retail Package) Here

I have had sandisk's card for about 4 years now and my 512 card is a workhorse for me. I have shot with it in Chicago cold and Dallas heat and it's been great, true you can get Sandisk's Ultra 512 for about 8 bucks more. But for my Canon G5 5MP camera, it's fast enough. I can shoot roughly 30-40 in burst mode on my best Jpeg mode.

The card holds 188 at my highest jpeg mode (2592w x1944h) the average computer screen (about 17") is roughly 1200 pixels wide so this is a large image.

If I had a DSLR camera I imagine I would get the Ultra cards but if you are worried you are not getting a fast enough card, match your camera. If you have a DSLR and are a pro, you want speed. But I have a mid-upper range consumer camera so this card is fine for general shooting.

A professional photographer I work with often once told me, It's like getting the most expensive racing tires and putting them on a Honda.

Cheers-

HP Mini 311-1000NR 11.6-InchNetbook Carrying Casethis case is a perfect fit. many pockets for storage. very well made. worth the money.

I am very, very pleased with this bag. It fits my HP Mini 311 perfectly. There is room for the power cord, a wireless mouse, and a usb laptop card. I can fit a very small book or a textbook size book if I leave it stick out the zipper. The construction feels very sturdy and it seems rugged to me. This is the bag for you if you want a bag that just fits your mini 311 and accessories and has a strap or want a more rugged bag than a slipcase. It is not a very good bag if you're planning on carrying a lot of stuff besides the netbook.

CAT6 Modular Plugs

CAT6 Modular PlugsNo more guessing whether a wire or two has slipped into the next hole. The inserts make it easy to insert the wires and make sure they're separated BEFORE you put it into the connector. Halves the time to make a cable properly, the first time! I wouldn't even bother with the other connectors anymore. Highly recommended!!!

These are inexpensive and work great. BTW the description didn't indicate this when I purchased them, but it's a 100 pack that came in a handy plastic jar. Pins are made for stranded wire CAT6 and are staggered inside the connector for CAT6 / gigabit compliance (I've had bad luck from other vendors selling 'CAT6' connectors which were really CAT5) This product is a one piece connector which is what I prefer. Had no problems slipping wires in and crimping.

I'm upgrading my network to gigabit so I purchased these cat6 modular plugs to go along with some bulk cable. The item I ordered was Intellinet item: 502344. I wanted plugs with a load bar and based on another review I thought these were that type.

They work but are pretty difficult to install. I have also noticed the clips don't hold the plugs in as well as other plugs I've used.

I would recommend staying away from these and order plugs that come with a load bar instead.

Wonderful sound and the storage case works great. My only problem is that the ear piece itself is a bit large for my ears. It fits, but becomes a bit uncomfortable after long periods of use.

M-EDGE Trench Runner Grey Messenger Bag for iPad/ Samsung Galaxy Tab/ Motorola Xoom - MEIPD3TRGY

M-EDGE Trench Runner Grey Messenger Bag for iPad/ Samsung Galaxy Tab/ Motorola Xoom - MEIPD3TRGY
  • Made from durable weathered cotton canvas and genuine leather trim with brass hardware
  • Two compartments perfectly fit the iPad in any M-Edge jacket (sold separately)
  • Includes two outer pockets for cell phone and accessory storage, as well as two internal pen loops and two credit card slots
  • Adjustable and removable shoulder strap
  • Available in original US Military olive drab green and German grey

I bought this for my iPad 3 and totally love this case. The outside covers are thick and sturdy and I really like the vintage feel to it. I've used it in landscape mode several times and it works great. When it is standing in landscape mode the top half of the back is only covered by the plastic holder, I do wish there was more covering it. I don't care much about a magnetic sleep/wake feature, I just wanted something sturdy and cool looking with a cover that folds back and I found it!

Buy M-EDGE Trench Runner Grey Messenger Bag for iPad/ Samsung Galaxy Tab/ Motorola Xoom - MEIPD3TRGY Now

I am re-reviewing this item.

This is the item I ordered, yet it has the model #PD2-TR-C-620 on the case. At first I thought it was the seller, but after contacting both the seller and the manufacturer M-Edge, I found that they didn't change the 1.5"x 3" label on the case. It DOES work with my iPad 3 just fine and I am very happy with the case. So do not expect to see PD3-TRJ-C-GY on the case.

I rate this case a 4 because it is a good solid case, yet it isn't perfect. I would have liked to have had magnetic on and off or some other features, but I went with aesthetic looks over functionality. Oh it does function just as M-Edge states on their website, but I would suggest obtaining a screen protector like the Moshi iVisor Screen Protector XT Crystal Clear for The New iPad, no bubbles, and very clear. The case is sturdy and it does look pretty neat with the button/buckles and it only takes a few tries to easily learn to switch it from landscape to portrait.

Below is my original review, I was upset and thought I had been had, that is not the case and I have come back here to set the record straight. Don't you wish everyone would do that?

my original review:

"I am rating this 2 stars because even though this is a good case, this is NOT what I ordered. This is a PD2-TR-C-620 NOT the PD3-TRJ-C-GY for the iPad 3. The Amazon site clearly states this is the PD3, not the PD2.

I cannot state that all the different sellers are selling the wrong product, though be aware that it is likely that like me you will receive the iPad 2 version, not the iPad 3 version. There are some differences and the iPad 3, I remember reading that the clasps are easier to manage on the iPad 3 version, on the iPad 3 version they are VERY tough to unclasp.

This is something that seems to be a common problem right now, companies selling iPad 2 cases as iPad 3 cases. I am talking to the seller now and hopefully will resolve this in my favor, rather than having to pay shipping for what is in my opinion, false advertising."
