AC to DC Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Adapter

AC to DC Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Adapter
  • Turns any vehicle power charger into an AC travel charger
  • Useful with other travel items: air pumps, portable coolers, spotlights, laptop, PDA
  • Safe for 110v or 220v outlets
  • Ultra slim design is lightweight and portable

I bought this cause I figured, "Why buy a car charger for my phone /and/ a household charger?"

Maybe I'm just cheap, but it works and the DC works even faster at charging in the house.

Be careful though, it's a loose fit on the socket and I've seen some heavy sparks flying from the plug.

Great product, great price. Saved me about 20-25 dollars for buying a home charger for my cell phone.

I purchased this to use with my car air pump so that I could inflate an air mattress indoors without having to buy another pump. This product does not work at all. Do not buy it.

Want AC to DC Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Adapter Discount?

It didn't work. Adapter shows it's getting power, but it's not sending it to what I connected it to (a ski boot warmer)

Steer clear of these $2-3 adapters. They have a bad connection and won't power up when you plug them in.

Targus USB Retractable Optical Laptop Mouse AMU89US (Black)

  • USB retractable cord for spacious workspaces
  • Accurately responds to mouse movements using high-definition optical sensors
  • Provides long lasting comfort due to its sleek, ergonomical form
  • Limited One Year Warranty

I bought this mouse for use with my laptop since I'm a touchpad dodo. It worked great right out of the box, with no jumping or sticking, even on a less than smooth surface. Unfortunately, the LED went dead after five weeks. I really miss it as I sit here trying to post this review using a damn touchpad.

Terrific price, respected name, and a very tight nice deal. These are great. I bought two knowing they were going to be a welcomed aboard addendum to the laptop rig and the desktop rig.

This is generally good for use. It's smart and flexible. Good for people don't like big mouses. But the retractable wire is really easy to tear. It just stopped working after the one month due to the worn wire! disappointed!

IOGear USB 2.0 Peripherals Sharing Switch GUB201

IOGear USB 2.0 Peripherals Sharing Switch GUB201
  • Device Type - Switch
  • Manufacturer Warranty - 3 years
  • Enclosure Color - Black
  • - USB devices Hot pluggable.

I got this thing to share a keyboard and mouse (which are plugged into a USB hub) with 2 computers. I was tired of having 2 keyboards and 2 mice on my desk!

I am using a Dell LCD monitor that has a built in USB ports and supports VGA and DVI simultaneously via a built in switch.

I can now plug in all my USB peripherals (external hard drive, keyboard and mouse) into my monitor hub and at the touch of a switch can toggle between the 2 towers.

It simply works, it takes a few seconds to kick in, but it works every time. No software installation necessary.

Note: The package comes with 1 USB cable only so if you are looking to use it the way I did you would need 2 additional USB cables.

I bought this to share a keyboard and mouse between 2 computers (a Mac and a Dell)that each have their own monitors, so I didn't need a full KVM switch. After a quick 3 minute installation, this does the trick. Bus powered, so no external power supply and there is no need to install any software for it.

I use this to use one wireless keyboard and mouse with two computers. It works fine. The only thing I don't like is that it takes several seconds for the switch to work. That's not helpful if I am doing instant messenging on one computer in which I need to switch back and forth quickly. The install CD had an error message which showed up on both computers. Fortunately I could download the program from their web site.

Want IOGear USB 2.0 Peripherals Sharing Switch GUB201 Discount?

BACKGROUND:

I, that is to say we, share an HP Printer/Copier/Scanner, and it works just fine. Our home office set-up on the other-hand does not work so well. As it turns out it's a Windows XP problem. You see, I set-up the computers on a network, and that works fine. With one caveat, you cannot share a scanner on XP. You can share everything else, but not a scanner.

And boy do I do a lot of scanning. So, through the network we can share the printer, but if I want to scan, I have to unplug it from the one computer, and plug it into my computer. This (as you can probably see) wasn't going to work. So, what to do? Get a USB "Resource Sharing" device.

I had purchased 2 other USB "Resource Sharing" devices, but I couldn't get either of them to work. What? A USB device that won't work? I've never heard of such a thing. And it happened twice! I was stumped. So, we went back to plugging and unplugging. Sigh...

Months later, I went hunting (again), but this time here on Amazon. I looked over all of the USB "Resource Sharing" devices, and I read all of the reviews, and then I (with trepidation, thinking back on my last 2 failed USB devices) made my purchase.

THE PURCHASE:

As it turns out, this device only comes with one cable, so I had to order another cable. Not a big deal, I needed something like a 16' cable anyway. Fortunately, a couple of the reviewers mentioned the one cable thing. I also thought it was odd that these devices cannot be sent to P.O. Boxes, but, again, no big deal.

THE PRODUCT:

With fear in my eye, I opened the package to the IOGEAR USB 2.0 Peripheral Sharing Switch, and followed the instructions. They went as follows:

1 Connect it to computer 1

2 Connect it to computer 2

3 Connect it to the "printer/scanner" (in my situation)

That was it! Our computers went ding-donk, letting us know that a USB had connected, and little bubbles came up saying that new hardware had been detected and was ready, and the little switch itself went beep a couple of times saying that is was ready.

Guess what happened? It worked! I pushed the button on the switch, and the one computer can print & scan, I push the button again, and my computer can print & scan. I was so thrilled about something that didn't require any configuring, or reboots or any bother. Phew!

Something else that I like about how IOGEAR set this product up. It came with software, but even they say you don't need it. The only thing the software does is put a switch button on your computer desktop (instead of manually pushing the button on the device itself).

Thank-you IOGEAR for making a simple device that is simple to install, and simply works.

I installed this product and now both of my computers share the same printer. Installation was quick and easy, even with my two computers running different versions of Windows.

Soooo.. If I "power on" only Computer 1, the switch automatically connects the printer to THAT computer. Of course, if I only "power on" computer 2, the switch will connect to THAT one. Could it be more simple?? By installing the supplied software [CD], I can activate switching from computer 1 to 2 or 2 to 1 simply by tapping the NUM LOCK button twice on the keyboard of the computer that I want to be switched to. I don't even have to stretch my tired body to press the button on the unit!! I repeat could it be more simple?

The unit works flawlessly.

AND.. I paid half the price of the local retail stores!

Sleeve360

Sleeve360
  • Fully Adjustable Detachable Handstrap Built for Maximum Comfort
  • Free Spinning Fully Rotating Hand Strap for Multiple Viewing Angles
  • Portrait and Landscape Stand
  • Keyboard Flaps to Put the Sleeve360 into Keyboard Mode
  • Drawstring Travel Pouch Included

After using it for less than 2 hrs the glue that holds the strap to the case came off. It is unfortunate because the engineering is great, they need to figure out how to better secure the strap.

Buy Sleeve360 Now

This is the PERFECT iPad case/stand/whatever! I had previously bought a leather folder-type case, which could fold in a certain way to allow the iPad to stand up and watch videos in landscape format, but it never really stood up securely and had a flap to close it that was annoying. The Sleeve360 has an ingenious handstrap, which lets you securely hold the iPad with your hand and spin it from landscape to portrait viewing while holding it safely attached to your hand. It also opens up into a stand, which will let the iPad stand up in either configuration! The strap also comes off easily when you want to lay the iPad flat and open two little flaps which hold it at keyboard angle. I can't say how much I have enjoyed mine, except that I bought a second one just to give to a friend!

I did have an issue one day where the hinge on the strap broke, but customer service was very fast and sent me a replacement strap within days. I am VERY happy!

My case is falling apart. I have written Thinkfast three times with no reply. No replies. Assuming no one gets any support.

Want Sleeve360 Discount?

There is a quality problem with this case. I bought mine back in April 2011, by July 2011 the glue on the handle was failing which held the strap together. Since there was a warranty, I contacted Sleeve360 for help, they wanted to charge me $5 for a replacement handle (!!??) under warranty (!!??) for a design flaw they were clearly aware of. I received a replacement handle (Free, after I protested the charge for the replacement handle). I was happy with the case again. My ipad gets very lite use, never leaves the house. Here we are now in Sept 2011, the new handle has broken in two places, the hinge for the easel function and the little tabs that hold the handle to the case. I give up on the Sleeve360 design.

This is one of those "sliced bread" ideas that is breathtaking in its simplicity. The sleeve makes the (original) Ipad far more useful. It's easy to use, easy to maneuver. The built-in stand is also extremely useful. I truly felt that I got value in exchange for my purchase. Only criticism is that it could be constructed a bit better -our first one broke when a hinge was overstressed -if it was constructed a bit more stoutly perhaps I wouldn't have had to purchase a second. But there's nothing like it -*really* useful addition to an Ipad. Highly recommended.

Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002

Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002
  • Expansion slots for CompactFlash and SD memory cards for additional storage and software capabilities
  • 3.8 TFT touch-sensitive screen has a resolution of 240 x 320 with a maximum of 65,000 colors
  • Built-in microphone, speaker and digital voice recorder
  • Includes long-lasting Rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery
  • What's in the box: Toshiba Pocket PC e755, USB Cradle, 10W AC Adapter, 1-Stylus, Soft Slip Case, Quick Start Card and Warranty Card

(Note: The only difference between the e750 and e755 is that the latter e755 comes with a photo viewer software title on the companion CD. In fact, the machine in the e755 packaging is labeled "e750," so I'll refer to it as e750 in this review.)

Featuring a new mobile processor, the most internal memory of any PDA (64MB RAM plus 64MB non-RAM for a total of 128MB), built-in 802.11b wi-fi, the best PDA screen from Toshiba so far. and good battery life, the e750/e755 is close to being perfect. The compact (0.6 inches thin) and attractive form factor is a huge plus, as well.

The new Intel processor (PXA255 running at 400Mhz) is without doubt the star of the new line-up. It's an updated version of the first-gen Xscalar processor, which wasn't getting good reviews due to lack of optimization options. The e750/e755 *is* optimized for the new processor, which results in speedy application launches and operations. Nothing gives a Pocket PC user more pleasure than seeing his/her favorite app come up instantly. The e750 also allows you to switch between two speeds, hence you can choose between higher speed or better battery life. Even at the lower speed, PPC apps feel quick and responsive. The LiIon battery is user replaceable, and an optional "extended" battery is available now from Toshiba.

What's left to improve for Toshiba is their lackluster customer support. Also, because their PPCs are made by an OEM in Taiwan rather than in their own plants in Japan, the build quality is still a bit lacking, but the e750/e755 seems to be better made than the error-prone e740.

Update with more details:

The e750 is indeed a joyful PDA! The high price and the lack of a built-in camera aside -but who really needs the latter, right? -it really comes close to being a master-of-all-trades device. I haven't tested the wireless features as much as I had hoped, due to the fact there just aren't many free hot spots around these days. But I'll update this review when I get more hands-on experience in this area.

In terms of everyday use this is a true workhorse. I'll talk more about the specs below, but the numbers don't really reveal how pleasant using the e750 is. The hundreds of annoyances that plagued the e740, its older cousin, have been fixed. There are far fewer crashes and syncs go more smoothly. At just 6.5 ounces, while not the lightest Pocket PC, you get something very close to a handheld computer, especially when you get the foldable keyboard!

The e750 has a total of 128MB of RAM, 32 of which is ROM, 32 is flash-ROM (which means content stored on it won't go away even if the battery is completely dead... think of it as a small hard disk without moving parts), and the rest 64 is true user-accessible RAM. Having a real 64MB to play with is a bliss, especially for someone like me who started out with 16MB on the Casio EM-500 and last saw 46MB on the HP iPaq 1910. The extra 18MB makes a big difference. Now I can play Doom and Quake at the same time!

Given the thin form factor of the e750, it still amazes me how it can feature both a Type I/II CompactFlash (CF) slot as well as a Secure Digital (SD) slot. Since wi-fi is already built-in, both can happily be used solely for storage expansion. The highest capacity for SD right now (as of April 2003) is 512MB, but that costs a small fortune. The best value belongs to 256MB cards, and I highly recommend the one from Lexar (see my review there). If you put in a 512MB SD and a 512MB CF, you'll get 1GB of extra storage for under one-hundred-fifty dolrs! The CF slot can probably be used for other peripherals; but the situation is not clear right now as to which CF peripherals will be supported in the e750.

The 3.8-inch (measured diagonally) screen is the largest among Pocket PCs on the market today, and the best from Toshiba so far. I personally like the screens on the iPaq 1910 and Viewsonic V35 better, but this screen is more than "good." The resolution is still PPC's standard 240x320, so it would be nice to see someday PPC manufacturers would go higher than that. I'd love a PPC the size of the e750 but with a 4" screen and 320x480 resolution!

There are a lot of optional accessories you can get for the e750, including the foldable keyboard and extended battery mentioned above. This is truly an exciting newcomer to the PPC family... one that looks and performs like a winner.

Buy Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002 Now

I've recently made the decision to purchase a 755 to replace my

aging Palm unit. I'm still in the learning phase of using the

755/Pocket PC and so far I'm mostly pleased. So, instead of

reiterating the specifications of the 755 I will offer a

comparison to my old device and some observations:

The 755 has 48 times more memory than my 2MB Palm. Great.

The 755 has 2 memory card options. My Palm is ancient in this

respect, but more modern palms address this via SD.

The 755 uses a lot of juice (color screen/fast processor).

I get about 2.5 months of service on my Palm on two AAA

batteries (using the backlight on rare occasions. I

haven't tested how long the 755 would last on one charge,

but have seen the battery indicator go to 80% after an hour

of trying a load of things (browsing, music etc).

One item to note: after a few days of use I'm getting an

incorrect 99% charged battery on the Settings/System/Power

application. I'm not sure if I'm getting this because I

upgraded to ActiveSync 2.6 doesn't budge from 99%.

The 755 has WiFi built in. Did I really need this? Not really,

but I now can say Hey check this out man! So far I haven't

had any problems with JavaScript or formatting while viewing

my favorite sites. The only problem is the amount of scrolling

you will need to do to view the entire page.

Images look great on this unit. I used Photoshop Elements,

in batch mode, to downsize a folder of images to the screen

dimensions of the 755 and created a neat little slide show in

PhotoBase, an application that comes with the 755 (not the

750). You can imagine how thrilled I was to see color images

after using a Palm mono unit for almost 5 years.

The Windows Media player works better than I thought with MP3s

(I haven't viewed any movies with it yet). The music plays back

smoothly even when I am doing other things (eg File Explorer,

slide show). Okay, I'm lying, I got a couple of blips while

resizing a pdf document in Acrobat no big whoop.

This is one great feature now I can wait for the 40MB iPod

to come out.

Graffiti (Palm) vs Block Recognizer (Pocket PC).

I started using Transcriber for entering text I was

heart-broken. I couldn't enter text correctly, fast enough.

I exclaimed "Hallelujah!" when I discovered Block Recognizer.

It allows Graffiti input. Great response time and nifty

special character entry assistant.

Synchronization. Yikes! I'm going to have to get use to this.

With Palm, 95% of all applications/data get Sync'ed via Hot

Sync in a pretty standard way.

With Pocket PC there are number of ways this could happen. So

far I have come across:

* Drag and drop to Pocket Device directory

* Custom app install

* For media, creating a Playlist in Windows Media Player

and then requesting a sync from within the player.

* Copy application to device and then execute to install.

I won't enter my contacts or other "precious" info until

I fully understand syncing with ActiveSync and without first

coming up with a back-up plan.

One sad item...I can't sync up with my beloved ibook Windows

only! Real easy with Palm.

Software availability: Palm beats Pocket PC hands-down. There's

tons of software for the Palm, a great percentage free. I'm

not really complaining I just need a really good version of

Tetris and I'm happy.

The 755 has a very nice solid feel to it. I wish the sides

were rubberized though. I've dropped my palm a number of

times, thankfully it wasn't fatal. I'd hate to drop a ...[undisclosed dollar amount]+

device.

The sync base for the 755 is built extremely well nice

heavy metal with rubber feet. Unit slides in easily.

Reading books on the 755 is a pleasure compared to palm. Bigger

screen, nicer fonts etc. Also, I found mBook Reader (freeware,

downloaded it from the internet) to be good alternative to

Microsoft's Reader can read Palm format files!

Things I'm not thrilled about:

During the lifetime of my Palm, I've never turned it on

accidently. The Toshiba's record button is the first thing

that gets pressed when I take the unit out of it's sleave.

I believe this button can be remapped to some other function.

After inserting a CF card (Type I) there is a smidgeon of

space left over in the slot. I'm assuming that type II cards

are fatter. I'm worried about this if I can see the

contacts inside the unit, then a little drop of water can find

it's way in there also (think rain I keep the 755 in my shirt

pocket).

I had to reset the unit, using the stylus hole a few times

already. My palm is very stable, as long as I don't install

hacks that misbehave. I'm not sure who to blame yet (Toshiba/

Microsoft).

After one week of use, I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

I just hope I can get the battery indicator issue and sync'ing

procedures squared away.

If you just need a device to keep track of contacts and maintain

your schedule this device may be overkill go for a Sony SJ-33

instead (...[undisclosed dollar amount]). I just bought one for my wife.

If you need a new toy to play with on top of the usual PDA functions this unit looks promising.

Read Best Reviews of Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002 Here

I found this handheld device to be one of the best so far. With its new Xscale PXA255 CPU, the speed is amazing (nearly doubled in some tasks) and it also uses about 30% less battery power (1.3V instead of 1.5V for PXA250). The new 3.8" transflective LCD makes it the largest and one of the best screens in the U.S. Market (not including e550G from Toshiba Japan. The reflective LCD screen was one of the major draw-backs for the e740.) To correct viking632, the e750 has 64MB RAM + 32MB NANO RAM + 32MB for the OS. Most of the issues e740 had (1% battery, ActiveSync drop) have been resolved for the e750/755. With the added value of Wireless LAN, USB, (VGA with expansion pack) and removable battery, this is the BEST Pocket PC in the US market right now (Q1 2003). Highly recommend!

Want Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002 Discount?

Not as light, not as sharp, not as fast, and not as powerful as some other devices out there, this version of the Toshiba Pocket PC takes the features out there and combines them into a package that actually is better than the sum of its parts.

It's got the latest CPU and OS which, while promising a lot, are actually slower and less capable than they ought to be. It's got a new screen, while bigger and brighter than its e740 predecessor, is not as bright and sharp as other devices such as the Sony Clie.

It IS quite expandable what with its SD AND CF slots (important for someone who already has several CF devices and memory from other PDAs and cameras!) Not to mention the built in Wi-Fi which means I no longer need to carry a CF network card.

Only issues I have are that I also bought a couple SanDisk 256MB SD cards which seem to be incompatible with this device for some reason and Toshiba merely said to check the SanDisk site for compatibility. Seems that SanDisk doesn't certify this combination so be aware of that. Also this device still has a one touch record button that always gets pushed accidentally keeping the device on and taking up memory with nothing. They really ought to remove that.

Otherwise, it's probably the best Pocket PC out there.

The e755 has an outstanding screen, fast processor, tons of memory, both CompactFlash and SD/SDIO expansion capabilities, but the Wi-Fi is not quite fully functional.

When using the e755 Wi-Fi with a Netgear WG602 802.11b/g access point, the e755 handled the wireless linkup and communication very well, as long as I only configured the access point for MAC filtering and didn't activate either the 64 or 128 bit WEP. As soon as I turned on the WEP the e755 wasn't able to maintain a connection with the access point (which was within 10 feet and clear line of sight).

If you're looking for a powerful and flexible PDA with unsecured wireless access, then the e755 is an excellent choice, but if you also need to have your wireless communication encrypted you'd be wise to look elsewhere.

In spite of the fact that I was not having a problem with my iPAQ 2415 and its elderly HP battery, I tried 2 cables and the cradle. Finally, as recommended, I "charged" the battery for 30 hours. Still dead.

I went to the web site and requested an RMA. No acknowledgement, no RMA.

If anyone is interested, the manufacturer is "Cameron Sino", it is marked 2850 mah, and the contacts are correctly placed for this application.

The back cover that came with the battery is defective; it was missing a small push pin that was designed to disconnect the battery power when the cover is not attached to the device. I used a small piece of paper clip as a temporary work-around, but I would prefered to have had a working cover for the battery.

Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet With USB

Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet With USB
  • Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet With USB

I've got everything from dollar store "surge protectors" up to 2200 VA UPS systems at my house, and just about everything in between. So, I've got lots of devices to compare this to.

If I don't pay any attention to the price, this is hands down, the nicest surge protector I've used. The build quality is excellent. It feels substantial, and... well... expensive. The number and placement of outlets make it very convenient to use a mix of "normal" plugs and "wall worts", though I'd be apprehensive about loading all 12 outlets. (And really, I think the PowerSquid is best for dealing with plugs of different sizes.) The powered USB ports are a great idea, and really add to the surge protector's versatility. The cord wrap, on the other hand, is kind of gimmicky. There's enough space to wrap one cord on it, possibly two.

With that in mind, I could easily give this four stars.

But... at the current price, you're not very far off from the APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet 550VA 120V. Sure, you lose four outlets, but you gain a UPS and line conditioning for voltage drops (remember: voltage drops can be as damaging to your equipment as voltage surges). And you lose the USB charging ports, but for less than the cost of a Frappuccino, you can buy a USB/AC adapter.

Going back and forth between the two, I'm hard pressed to think of need-specific reason for buying this over the APC UPS, unless space is a major concern.

Buy Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet With USB Now

The Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet with USB is a very nice design for a surge protector. It offer you plenty of options for power and 3000 joules of protection in case of electrical surges.

A few notes -

The two USB ports are ideal for charging iPhones, Blackberries and other small devices. This is nice because you can leave your power adapters in your briefcase and use USBs to charge your small electronics.

I really like the layout of the various outlets this design allows you to have access to most of the outlets. While it still will be difficult to use all 12 outlets you will be able to use 8-10 without much problem.

Lots of protection and up to $250,000 worth of protection if you do have devices damaged while using this surge protector.

Nice sleek profile and despite having 12 outlets it would not be difficult to mount to the wall.

Final verdict This isn't the perfect surge protector for all of your applications such as providing extra outlets for your christmas lights but it is ideal for your home entertainment center or as part of an electronics valet on your night stand.

5 Stars

I was very excited to get this new surge protector. However, the USB slots make a very high pitched noise when devices are plugged in. Although it's functional, it just gives me the impression that there are low quality components in the unit.

Want Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet With USB Discount?

I bought this around September of last year. Nice product, has plenty of space, good number of outlets and was really enjoying it. So about 1 month later I go to use the USB plug and when I plug something in it makes a low volume, high pitch screech. I play around with plugging and unplugging various devices and even change the outlet. I contact Belkin and they tell me that no it isn't supposed to do that and say that if I ship it back to them(I pay for shipping) then they will replace it. It is ludicrous that I should have to pay for return shipping for a product that is damaged from the first time I use it. I never contacted Amazon because by that time it was already out of their return window because I waited to install it and then waited longer to use it.

I still use it, just not with the USB because with the screeching sound I think it's wired poorly and could start a fire but I haven't opened it up so I'm not sure. I normally buy a lot of Belkin products, but this was very disappointing.

This surge protector fits all of my needs perfectly! The 6-foot power cable is long enough to place it anywhere, even though I only have two power outlets in my entire room. It also has enough outlets for me to plug all of my electronic devices into it, and I have plenty of space! All my massive plugs, with those annoying boxes that usually cover other outlets... Well, that is not a problem with this surge protector!

It also has two USB power outlets. These are useful for charging my Sansa mp3 player, and I use them with an extension USB cable to power my Turtle beach headset.

Honestly, I don't use the cable organizer at the end of it. I just don't have a use for it.

Finally, I am glad that it doesn't have a bunch of useless extras like 'Coaxial protection' or 'Phone line protection.' Those take up space, and I don't use them.

It holds the phone very securely, but I seem to need two hands to get the phone out: One hand to push the release and the other hand to pull out the phone. It is also a bit bulky in that it holds the phone a long way out from your belt. But it does the job and seems pretty durable.

This is my second holster clip in less than 6 months. This seems to be a little larger than the clip for my previous phone and get caught on things more. OEM Verizon Holster is fine quality, but it seems to be made of slightly softer compound than the one for my previous phone. I like it and the price is right though.

Airlink IP Camera (AICN1777W)

Airlink IP Camera
  • MPEG4 & MJPEG dual codec; High-quality Day & Night vision with Infrared LEDs; Built-in Pan/Tilt device for wide-angle surveillance
  • Supports remote surveillance on computers over the Internet or on 3G mobile handheld devices; Supports NAS recording, FTP uploading and email alerts
  • 2-Way Audio streaming; GPIO connector allows the camera to connect with a variety of external alarm sensor device (In) and controlling device (Out)
  • USB connector for saving images directly into USB devices; Motion Detection with 2 Adjustable Windows
  • Powerful application software "Airlink101 UltraView" manages up to 32 Cameras simultaneously; Supports IEEE802.11b/g/n with WPA and WPA2 security

Let me start by saying that I would rate this product as ZERO stars if I could. The camera overall is fair at best. For $150 bucks I expected more. I bought it to record my new house being built as I wanted to take a picture every 5 minutes and save it off to a USB storage drive. It has a USB port so this seems logical, right? WRONG. After getting bad information from Airlink's support staff, it was determined that this feature/functionality was not available. Fine, should have looked into that before purchasing.

So I was just snapping a picture every hour or so and saving it to my iPhone UNTIL ... I upgraded to IOS6! Now the app (SKYIPCAM) is completely useless and crashes as soon as you try and view your camera! The whole world knows IOS6 is coming but the answer I get back from their TERRIBLE customer support staff (based out of India) is "oh sorry, our vendor is from India and they won't give us an ETA for a fix". WHAT? A TERRIBLE COMPANY and TERRIBLE SUPPORT OF THEIR PRODUCTS!!

Will never buy from this company again and will never recommend them to a friend.

I have actually had this camera for a while now. It's the coolest thing since it is interactive. With the new IPhone app, I can see and hear what's going on at home from anywhere in the world. You will need to set up your router with port forwarding and such, but once it's connected it is great. I took off just one star because I wish the quality was just a little better, but it works as advertised.

Read Best Reviews of Airlink IP Camera (AICN1777W) Here

I have worked all day trying to get this camera to work. I have called tech support and left a message, and I have sent email to support.

I can set up the camera, but I can't set it for remote viewing. What good is it without that? Also, the iPad app does not work, it will not connect with the camera.

So far, I am very disappointed all around.

I finally got it to work. I got on the phone with tech support. However, each time you reset your modem, you have to enter a new IP address into the camera software. So, during my last trip, a storm killed the power to my modem, and when it came back up, I had to reset the IP address. I had to be at home in order to do that, so I lost my camera for the second half of my trip. Once it is connected, it works fine. Even though I like it, it is hard to set up. I added one star to cover my ignorance.

Sony Clie PEG-NX60 (Silver) Handheld

Sony Clie PEG-NX60 Handheld
  • MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 video playback
  • Integrated wireless communication slot
  • High-resolution TFT color display (320 x 480 pixels)
  • 16 MB of RAM, 16 MB of ROM, Memory Stick expansion slot
  • Clie handheld, USB cradle Stylus, AC Adapter, Stereo headphones, Remote controller, Plug adapter

The NX60 is Sony's first Palm OS5 handheld. The only differences between this and the NX70 is the lack of a built in camera. The NX60 retails for [distinctively] less though, so this is the handheld to choose if you don't need the camera.

With a 200 MHz strong arm processor from Intel this is the most powerful Palm OS PDA ever made and the NX60 is loaded with multimedia software to show that power off. For the first time Sony has included a powerful Movie Player capable of MPEG 1 and MPEG 4 playback. They have also improved the MP3 player from previous models. This version lets you manage your playlists and gives you several levels of bass boost.

Another new feature is the CF slot on the back. This is used with the optional WiFi card from Sony and will allow you to surf the web with any compatible wireless network. The new OS5 web browser is easy to use and very fast. Sony has also added a voice recording ability to the NX60 for taking voice notes anywhere.

The NX60 also has all the great features from the old NR series including the best PDA screen on any handheld. Sony's High res TFT 320 X 480 pixels color screen is sharp and vivid. It has a virtual grafiti area that can be lowered so programs, pictures, and movies can be viewed full screen.

It also includes a polyphonic speaker and alarm, AV universal remote, built in thumb keyboard, a magnesium casing that has better grip than the NR series, and lots of great software including Documents to Go 5.

I've used Pocket PC and Palm devices and this is by far my favorite handheld. Sony has taken everything that was great about the NR series and added a lot more without raising the price from the NR series.

The only downside to the NX60 is the large size, but its still very small for something you can use in place of a laptop for most uses. The screen also flips so you can use it like a regular PDA if you don't need the keyboard.

In my opinion you can't by a better PDA than one of the NX series from Sony.

Buy Sony Clie PEG-NX60 (Silver) Handheld Now

There are a lot of very thorough reviews of the NX60, so I'm going to just highlight a few of the things I think make this stand out above and beyond other palm PDAs, as well as some notes to the negative side of things, and things i have yet to try but will discuss after trying them out.

Sony design it's beautiful. Technically and from an asthetic perspective, the NX60 is almost flawless. The keyboard is somewhat extraneous if you've learned graffiti, but it's a useful backup. All controls are intuitively located (except the keyboard, which I find difficult to use while holding onto the device). Sony has employed their now famous and highly cherished Jog Dial physical interface, with the welcome addition of a "Back" button to allow you to not only scroll through and into menus/programs (the jog dial clicks in to allow what you've rolled over to be selected), but also to navigate back to higher levels within the interface. It doesn't work with all apps, however.

I really wonder whether the flip-top screen on the NX60 was the inspiration for the new class of notepad style PC laptops. It's a great design. It allows for a larger screen than your standard palm. Great idea. It also means that the screen protection is built into the function of the device, a welcome change for me from the flip top or removeable styles of screen protection (if there is any built in at all).

Contrary to a couple of the reviews, I LOVE the screen-based graffiti area. It's collapseable in (what i assume are) NX60-aware apps, which I love because it means more useable screen space, and when you write on it, you get immediate visual feedback of the shape of your strokes...it has, if anything, improved my speed and accuracy with graffiti. I love it. (review edit): I can now, thanks in large part to the visual feedback, write almost as quickly as I write on paper. Woo hoo!

The screen is bright and sharp. Lovely.

The processor is FAST, FAST, FAST. I guess i'll be testing this once i get a mem stick and load up some video...

(review edit): Tried out video...cooooollll...I found a decently priced 128 meg mem stick, so I'm not exactly ripping huge movies to this thing, but the quality is excellent. Very pleased.

the size: just big enough for my big, american guy hands. some things shouldn't be the size of a quarter. the NX60 is in my opinion just the right size. think of it like a super-futuristic detective's note pad, and the size is just right. I tried out the Palm Tungsten, and found its short height and the "pull open to use fully" 'feature' awkward, and difficult to hold on to. If you have really small pockets maybe it's ok, but it sacrifices useability for minimal stowage size. i'd rather take up more pocket space than fumble while i use the device.

(review edit): I've been using Eudora's mail product on the Clie to read mail from my Outlook inbox, and reply to some of the mail (it sends through the PC when I sync)...it rules. I took the Clie to jury duty standby with me last week, got through everything in my mailbox with time to spare. Thanks to the Clie's ability to play mp3s in the background while using other apps, I did it all listening to music. Yay.

flash player. (review edit): have tried this out now. Pretty darn cool. I haven't really pushed it yet, just simple stuff. It's decently fast at rendering simple animations, and can handle sound pretty well, so (so far) another big win.

Things I haven't tried yet:

PDFs with images.

mp3s it sounds like VBR mp3s aren't useable, which is too bad. but that's what the iPod is for, right? ;-) Besides, I'd rather spend 400 bucks on an iPod and put 15 gigs of vbr mp3s on it.

(review edit): tried out the mp3 player. Pretty decent. The Bass booster is ok, but the power throughput IMO leaves something to be desired. Again though, that's why there's such a thing as iPod.

notes:

memory stick I'm wondering if it's compatible with the up to gigabyte mem sticks that are available now...the user manual only talks about mem sticks up to 128 megs. Would be useful for the photo, video and mp3 capabilities of this device...i'll write more about it if I find some answers to this.

wireless network card i'm considering getting one, which i wasn't considering before this is such a useable device that it might be worth dropping the extra cash for.

camera module c'mon...chances are, if you are getting one of these, you already have a multi-megapixel camera with at least partially manual settings. You don't need a camera on your PDA ALSO, do you? ;-)

things i'm a little disappointed by:

the remote control function doesn't seem to be able to communicate with my sony amp or my sony vcr, which surprised me. maybe i'm missing something. (review edit): ok I got it to work with all my sony gear. Yay! Still isn't working with the (Samsung) tv, which is old enough to probably be using some obscure, outdated IR set, so no huge disappointment there; I've never had a remote control for it anyway (got it used). it just would have been nice. The remote commander app does have pre-sets for Samsung TVs, so I'm betting that the age of the TV is the problem. Time to upgrade ;-)

the internal memory (11 megs) is a little skimpy for a PDA with this much processing capability. i filled it up to capacity with word docs, excell files, web downloaded news, a couple of simple PDFs and my M$ Outlook info immediately. it reminds me of early days of laptops, when the standard ram was _never_ enough to do anything but read your good old text based email. You WILL need a memory stick, which i'm sure is Sony's general game plan. (review edit): if you look around you can find a 128 meg card for under fifty bucks, including tax, in San Francisco.

the keyboard could give a little more tactile feedback, but it has a continuous surface, so there's no dirt getting under the keys and screwing it up to worry about, which I highly value. pockets pick up a lot of grit : )

This is the first PDA I've ever owned, although I've been eyeing them for years, waiting for just the "right" one to come on the market. This is it. I could not be happier with it.

I opted for the PEG-NX60 over the NX70 because I have a great digital camera and didn't need one in the Clie. Since my camera is a Sony, it is very easy for me to swap memory sticks between the two devices. I've got tons of photos and videos saved on a 64 meg memory stick that I use predominantly for the Clie, and with the included image/video conversion program, I still have a comfortable amount of free space on the memory stick.

I found the Palm OS 5 to be quite intuitive, and even Graffiti was not a problem for me, although I was certain at the beginning that I would be using the hardware keyboard most of the time. Now, I use it infrequently, but I am still glad I bought this clamshell design Clie because of the additional protection it provides to the screen. I have been using this since December and have not felt the need to buy a protective case for the device. It rides in my purse and the well-built metal shell, plus clamshell design, feels very secure to me.

The included apps, especially Documents to Go, are terrific. I've set up the Clie to sync several Word and Excel documents between my home and work PCs, and it works like a dream. I always have the most current copy of those documents with me.

All in all, it's a good work tool, and a great play tool as well. I love having the ability to keep current work docs with me at all times, plus having a digital photo album as well. There's more to tell, but I think each user will tell his or her own story.

It's a winner, and I'm once again thrilled with a Sony product!

Want Sony Clie PEG-NX60 (Silver) Handheld Discount?

I bought this device for use at work. I work as an emergency medicine physician so I was looking for something that would be "almost" pocket size or just easy to carry around in scrubs.

Good points about this unit. It is very light compared to later models. Great color screen, very durable, sony brand quality. No camera. A good point because the unit is lighter, you are not paying extra money for poor, poor quality pictures, and you can purchase a pocket size digital camera for good prices now if you really *NEED* to take pictures.

Overall, Great unit, great price. Worthwhile investment.

My wife got this unit from work, so I had the luxury of playing with this without worrying about my pocket book. The darn thing has a 200MHz processor! The screen is crisp and clear, and we just marvelled at how clear the pictures are on this screen. Unlike my Palm m130, getting the Hot Sync to work on my USB interface for my Win2K laptop was no problem at all. One negative is that you absolutely need to buy a memory stick, as there is no way to take advantage of everything the Sony and Palm 5 allows without this. We were also slightly surprised with the size of the unit, but if you swivel the screen so that you don't use the keyboard it does fit into the palm. Strongly recommend this if you have the money.

Audio-Technica PRO24CM Stereo Microphone with Camera Mount

Audio-Technica PRO24CM Stereo Microphone with Camera Mount
  • Stereo microphone designed to attach to a camcorder
  • For camcorders with an accessory shoe and stereo microphone input
  • Lightweight, portable design with rugged all-metal construction
  • Pair of cardioid condenser elements provides spatial impact and high-fidelity stereo sound image
  • Battery-free operation when used with recording devices that provide plug-in power at the mic input

I hadn't seen much of a review addressing this mic for use with audio reproduction in a Venue or live music settingso here are my two cents. I have to say that the frequency response has proven shockingly true with a variety of ensembles, and has generally been a pleasure to work with given its compact size. I use this mic in conjunction with a Kodak Playtouch HD Palm Camera, and it has totally transformed the quality of live recordings. One of the best purchases i've ever made. Could not recommend it highly enough.

Straight-forward, easy to use. The reproduction of recorded sounds is excellent. The stereo feature works very well with good separation of left/right placement. Very reasonably priced, a good quality microphone for the video/audiofile.

I tested it with Sony DSLR a560. Without the battery I can hear a sound like a working motor (quiet though), but I did not mount it on the camera, besides, the camera was recording at memory stick not on a HDD or like that. My guess, that this was an EM interference. Without battery there was mono recording no matter what side from I would speak, the sound was on the middle in the playback. With battery in, the interference was 99% gone, but hiss is appear. Not much, but I can tell the difference in the quiet room or if you playing back through headphones, and yes, there is stereo. When I compared the sound with battery out to the sound with battery in, the last one was more clear and a little bit louder. With the battery out, at the same distance from microphone (about 1 yard), the sound was like the battery was dieing: vibrating, more quiet and unclear. The camera battery was at 74% more than enough to power a microphone.

Of cause it might be the camera itself. But camera manual says that external microphone will be powered by camera. Well, and it does, but microphone in any way should record the stereo. But stereo recording works with battery in only. I wrote about this issue to Audio-Technica. Here is what they answered:

"Although the microphone will operate using plug-in power, we recommend using battery power for optimal performance. There are no standards for plug-in power, so the voltage varies by device, resulting in inconsistent performance. This does not explain the mono recording issues; I have not had any reports of this. I recommend simply replacing the battery before important shoots; LR44 batteries are available at most drug stores, etc. and are fairly inexpensive."

In two words. This microphone works great, the price is affordable, not for every camera battery free, and Sony DSLR is needed "Hot Shoe Adapter".

I liked sound recording with battery better anyway. So, I'm gonna keep it. Actually because the microphone does not have a power indicator, I'll try to buy some cheap digital portable button batteries tester and build it in parallel to circuity connection with switch to watch the battery power level. The test "Sony A560 HD Video Test / 1440x1080 " of Sony A560 with this microphone you may find on YouTube on my channel SergSpace.

Update 11.26.2012

I recently upgraded Sony a560 to a65V, which has an auto focus in video mode. The built in microphone pick up so much noise from auto focus motor, that it's impossible to hear anything else. I do not have a SSM lens (too expensive), but this mike helped me to reduce auto focus motor sound dramatically. I still can hear it, but the noise went on background.

Want Audio-Technica PRO24CM Stereo Microphone with Camera Mount Discount?

I tried this on my Nikon D600. That camera allows you to adjust the microphone input. At "auto" level the only sound you hear are things right by the camera. The only way to hear anything is to crank the input up to maximum. Of course then your hear an incredible amount of hiss.

The built in microphone on the camera is actually better!

Sure you won't hear the auto focus motor with the Audio-Technica... that's because you won't hear anything at all!

I bought this microphone to use on my Canon 5d mark II to record my band playing in clubs. The sound it does pics up is much clearer then the onboard mic but it picked up no bass guitar at all even when standing in front of the bass amp. Bass drum was also very limited. What it picked up primarily was snare and cymbals and a little bit of guitar. Not for live music.

I wanted something that was non skid. The iPad bare is very slippery and I was afraid of it being dropped. Plus I didn't want the back to get scratched up. So, for me this cover is perfect. If you take your iPad with you everywhere you go, I would suggest a case or bag that would cover the entire iPad, with losts of padding for the screen.

Buy CrazyOnDigital Black Green Thick Silicon Skin Case For Apple iPad Now

Not a good buy! This skin case is just slightly smaller than the iPad itself. When the iPad is in the case the lip of the case that covers the black bezel of the iPad lifts up and flops about. You can pull the case over to one side, causing that side to become flush while the other side lifts up even further.

The case is also missing a hole along the top for the light sensor. With that blocked the automatic back-light control will leave the screen at the dimmest setting.

On the plus side the material and design are both very nice.

It's really really loose, mine came in a ripped bag inside the package making me think it's used. It doesn't hug the iPad, it's like a fitted sheet. It covers the black on the screen and the cut outs are not proportionate. Plus I didn't even get the one I ordered! I got a different design.

So I've had this case for a couple of weeks, give or take a day or two. I was super happy with it. It looked great, felt good in the hands, and it was unique in a world full of "black leather" cases. However, the seem where the velcro part attaches to the lip is already coming undone and I'm pretty gentle with my stuff. It doesn't get tossed around, etc. So basically, under very light use it is already starting to come apart.

I'm sure the vendor would be happy to replace it, but then I would have to send it back to them, and of course it would need to be tracked to protect myself meaning I would be spending about 25% or more of the value of the case just to get it replaced. That doesn't really work in my book when it is a low cost item like this. I guess that's the benefit of buying local/retail and paying double at the store. At least you can exchange defective stuff without all the hassle.

This is a nice case! Looks like pearl white with no blemmishes, fits the Asus Transformer perfectly and it closes great and there is also a little cheap stylus that they put in there. It is cheap but it is better than nothing. I also have a protective screen on it so hopefully my Asus Transformer is nicely secure and protected. There is a magnetic piece that keeps the Case shut when not in use but it is not very strong at all. I wish it was a little more stronger so everything couldnt open the case. But over all it is pretty nice. 8 out of 10.
