Instapark® 532nm Powerful Green Laser Pointer Astronomy and Military Grade(Click-on, Click-off swit
- * Range is over 12,000 ft;Green Laser Pointer
- * Waveleght: 532nm;* Output Power:<5mW
- * Click-on, Click-off switchBest for astronomy
- * Diameter 3/4in, Lenght 4 3/8in
- * Batteries:1 pc CR2 Lithium (Included).
*At the time of review, I acquired my Instapark 532nm for $22.10 ($29.05 with shipping and handling). Since then, the seller has raised the price considerably. Naturally, this is no longer such a great value as the cost is now typical of similar products. At first I thought this was pretty cool. After about 3 weeks it stopped working. I thought it was the battery so I bought a new one (not cheap). Laser still doesn't work. This is not high power. I have green lasers of the pen type that cost $8 to $12 each that make this one look like a toy. The Military would never buy a piece of junk like this although for its performance it is priced in a military way (way over priced). SAVE YOUR MONEY buy one of the cheaper pen lasers.
Instapark 532nm Powerful Green Laser Pointer Astronomy and Military Grade(Click-on, Click-off switch)I've never owned a green laser but being that I was a kid once, I've hand many of the red ones. Green certainly is far brighter to the human eye and I can place an 8' dot on the side of a building that is over 2 miles from my home. The construction is great, of course it would be practically impossible to construct it poorly if you're machining it from solid aluminium. The problems with this can be summed up in three words, Made In China. The laser sprays a little more than normal up close, presumably from the cheap lens. After a couple of weeks the laser started to dim to the point that you can't see it from across the room. Once it was so dim that it oddly only emitted infra-red light. For those of you thinking "just change the batteries", well you can "recharge" the batteries by banging it around until the loose/corroded connections inside the crappy click switch meet up again. It would probably withstand being run over by a semi truck but it cant withstand day to day field use. I would pass on it if I had to buy another green laser and go for one I know is not Chinese quality.Purchased this laser with the understanding that it was 50mw. It is no brighter than my previous green laser that I purchased off of ebay for a few bucks, which came from China, and was a 5 mw. It I might add has had hours and hours of enjoyment and is still working great.
This laser does have the nice on off button, as well as a better case, but is no where close to being what they say as far as power. Side by side my cheapy from China is a tad brighter and has a smaller / tighter focal point a block down the way.
1 star for the nice case and on off button....
Save your money.

Samsung 16GB Class 10 MicroSDHC High Speed Memory Card with SD Adapter and SanDisk MobileMate USB Re
I bought a Nook Color as a Christmas gift for someone and I purchased this item to provide additional storage. Since it is in the same price ranges as Class 4 16 GB cards this seemed to be the no-brainer choice. That's where I was wrong and our story goes downhill.
I admit I am a tech nerd and as any good nerd I did some additional research while waiting for the item to arrive. While looking I became a little concerned as I started noticing inconsistencies with the Komputerbay's listing and what's on other sites like Samsung's. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt so I waited until it arrived. This is when it went from bad to worse.
Upon arrival I did a quick visual inspection and here's what I noticed and why it is an issue:
1) All letters are white The card size (ie 16 GB) should be written in a different color from the other text
2) The letter "G" in Samsung I compared the font and it does not match Samsung's trademark label nor any other retail Samsung products I purchased in the past
3) The case is all black currently Samsung only sell a 16GB Class 10 micro SDHC card in their Plus series which has an all white case.
Epic fail on the visual inspection. I used the program h2testw to benchmark the speed and integrity of the card. Summary of the the speed test (another fail):
Write:7.2 MB/s
Read: 18.0 MB/s
(I'm not rooting the NC so I worry about doing a 4kb/32q benchmark)
For anyone and everyone reading a Class 10 card is required to have a MINIMUM write speed of 10 MB/s anything less, even 9.9, fails Class 10 and it is downgraded to a lower class. In fact a Class 4 SanDisk I have tested at 6.8 MB/s and should highlight Class 6 is a more appropriate. I can say confidently I did not receive a Class 10 card and I wish I could say at the very least it was a functional 16GB Class 6 but sadly there's more....a failed sector on the card resulted in corrupt files in about 50% of the card storage.
Almost immediately I sent Samsung a message containing the model and serial #'s on the back of the card requesting confirmation that this is a genuine Samsung card and that this is a 16GB Class 10 micro SDHC card. It honestly surprised me when they replied back with the following:
"According to our information this particular unit is not a Samsung unit. It does not match any model or serial number in our systems." The full email response from Samsung was included in the return box to Amazon.
To make this crystal clear since this is not a genuine Samsung product there is NO MANUFACTURER WARRANTY OR SUPPORT.
Following my initial contact I spoke with multiple people at Samsung on the phone and computer as they had a sincere interest. They reviewed all the information and specifically use the terms "fake", "fraudulent", and "counterfeit" during the nearly two hours. This was the first they heard of 'Komputerbay' they are not an authorized reseller of Samsung products. I can say this is the last time I'll do business with Komputerbay.
My 'product not as described' refund request was finally processed (Amazon gave me a free return shipping label). Taking this situation as what can be expected of Komputerbay, the way they conduct business, and the other products they offer I say one final time STAY AWAY FROM KOMPUTERBAY AND THEIR ITEMS. Consider yourself warned =PI bought this to put in my tablet. When I got it, I did a speed test on it and found that it was running at 6.2 MB/s, which should be considered a class 6. This would be fine if I ordered a Class 6, but I didn't. I also checked out Samsung's website and like Rob Luft's review said, the 16GB Class 10 Samsung card should be a white card with black and orange writing on it. Also, the sticker on the package states that this is new, but the USB reader is so scratched up, the writing on it is just about gone (from what I am assuming is prior use). I just put in for my return and will be sending it out in a bit for my refund.I finally decided to run a benchmark on this card. It is a total Knockoff! It benchmarks with results like the class 4 Sandisk cards I have, and the results are nowhere near the results I get with other class 10 cards I have. Also, this card didn't have manufacturer ID programmed in like my other cards do, just "0000". If you buy one of these don't expect Class 10 performance. The card has the class 10 logo but it is not a class 10 card and I doubt it is from Samsung.1) USB adapter it came with was broken
2) The Samsung products were counterfeit...
I spoke with a Samsung representative and the product does not exist in their records. The serial number and variations of the actual serial number were tried, and the card does not exist in any of their records. Also, I was told all legitimate Samsung products are made in Korea This one was made in Taiwan. Finally, the color of the card should be white/silver and not black. I spoke to the rep for half an hour and he even asked other reps The card is fake. Now, all of the details have been given to Amazon.com Let's see if they do anything about it. This is the one time I have not done my research before making a purchase Ouch!I bought 12 items ... but each one has different transfer rates (using same PC, same USB 3.0 port).
I had some with 2mb/sec, others 900k/sec ... What is wrong?
Searching in forum to try to solve it ....
PalmOne Zire 72 Hard Case P10968U
However, the thing is practically impossible to hold in your left and hand and use. The cover swings to the left, leaving nowhere to put your hand to hold it. Fine if you just use it at your desk (or if you're a leftie), but then why do you need the hard case?
The other problem is there's no way to attach a belt clip. Again, great if you're only using it at your desk... Why couldn't they just have a screw point on the back, so you could attach a clip or not if you need it?
My husband bought this for work, where his pda receives rough treatment in an industrial environment. It does provide the necessary protection, but little other practicality. He had to buy a separate case (a bulky Targus universal case/pouch with belt loop, which the hard case fits into) to carry it around with him. He still hasn't worked out the problem of how he's supposed to hold it.
Basically, it lives in the case at work, but comes out as soon as he leaves--not exactly ideal. The good thing about this hard case is that it'll protect the handheld. Those who are left-handed will have no problems, but us right-handed will find it very unconfortable. Since it does not fully open,(the picture above that displays as open as it can be) the case will be in your way to hold it. An other thing that I didn't like was that in order to retrive the expansion cards held in the hard case, you have to take off first the handled in order to be able to get the cards.
I wouldn't recommend this hard case if you are right handed

I was very eager to get this case for my new Zire 72. It's certainly a beautiful case, but not very functional. The front cover doesn't flip all the way under, so that if you're holding it with your left hand, it's difficult to reach the control buttons with your left thumb, as you should be able to. You cannot access the voice recorder button or the slots for the expansion cards unless you remove your zire from the case. Also, the top and bottom are completely open, which provides ready access to the slots, etc, however it does nothing to protect my zire from debris, etc, from the bottom of my purse. Also, the cradle impedes my access to the stylus slightly.I do like the sliding window in the back that opens so that I can take pictures and video, though.

The hard case is an excellent product. Since this case was built specifically for the Zire 72, it will fit snugly. While I'm sure the hard case is easier for lefties to use, I have not had any trouble cradling it in my left hand and using the stylus in my right. (Hint: When the hinges open up, there are gaps in the outer case. Place a finger or thumb in that gap and the hard case is easier to cradle. If your hands are too big to do that, then you probably won't have any trouble cradling the hard case anyway.) The hard case has many excellent characteristics with few shortcomings:Pros:
(1) Case is quite sturdy and will protect your Zire 72 casual drops or just the normal hazards of a commute on a subway or airplane.
(2) A sliding port on the back to allow one to use the camera without removing the PDA from the case.
(3) An open top to provide access to the card slot, on/off button, earphone plugs, and stylus.
(4) An open bottom for the power cord and mini-USB cable.
(5) The case is small enough to slip into a shirt pocket or the breast pocket of a suit.
Cons:
(1) The voice memo button is covered up by the case. You may want to consider reprogramming one of the other buttons to take that role.
(2) No storage for the Palm's WiFi card.
(3) You must remove the PDA from the hard case to put it into any other holder such as a car cradle or belt carrier. On the positive side, the Zire 72 slides in and out of the hard case with little effort.
(4) While the hard case has storage for two additional cards (normal sized, not WiFi), you must remove the PDA from the hard case to get at them.
Overall, I really like the hard case. It is classy enough that you can use it in a roomful of CEO's or college professors, but also tough enough to protect your PDA from the hazards of a daily commute

I bypassed many universal cases to wait for this one. I chose it mainly because my Zire 72 fits snugly, it offers excellent protection, and the inclusion of the camera door. I do agree that the left-swinging cover takes some getting used to, but I don't think it's as much of a problem as the other reviewers. I got used to it fairly easily.I have two problems with this case. One is the lack of access to the voice memo button. The other problem is the expansion card holders behind the handheld; you have to remove the handheld from the case to get to the holders. Other than these minor problems, this is an excellent hard case. If you don't use the voice memo function often or use a lot of expansion cards, I would recommend it to anyone with a Zire 72.

While I fully take the blame for this, I would prefer if Amazon did not mention this monitor is frequently purchased with HDMI cables as this monitor cannot use HDMI cables. Only now do I realize this after I got them. Other than that I am happy with my purchase of this monitor.Bought this for my wife who is a technical writer and needs to see 2 pages side by side in Open Office. Even without an HDMI input, the text is sharp and really pops out at you, probably due to the LED lighting. She can look at text on this monitor all day without eye strain. Before I gave it up to my wife, I "broke in" this monitor on a gaming rig for a week, and it performed very well there, too. The power supply is a brick but the cable going from the brick to the monitor is long enough to let you put the brick away somewhere it won't be noticed. The monitor itself is surprisingly light, but is very stable on the desk. Overall, this is a very nice monitor, especially if you don't have HDMI and already have speakers.I purchased this monitor as a second monitor for my MacBook, and it is fantastic. It is super clear and changing the settings are very easy. Pictures and videos look great!!! Everything you view is very sharp. This is an excellant buy for the money!!1Saturday, March 29, 2014
Genius SlimStar 8000 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard Combo
- 2.4GHz anti-interference desktop combo
- Ultra-slim keyboard design, innovative keycaps
- for great tactile feedback
- Two hot keys for volume control
- 1200 dpi optical mouse sensor for smooth
- movement control
The mouse is also nice. A good size that would fit any normal sized hand perfect. Clicks are firm and tight, stroller button works like a charm. There is an off switch on the mouse so as to not waste battery. There is not an off switch on the keyboard, I don't know if that's because keyboards don't waste batteries or simply because they didn't feel like adding one. If somebody knows the answer, maybe they could leave a comment? The mouse requires 2 AAA and the Keyboard 1 AAA. The batteries are included.
To get the wireless working you simply have to plug in a handy USB signal reader thing into a free USB slot. There's no software to download or install. After about 5 seconds the keyboard and mouse will start working. If they do not start working, remember to turn the mouse to the "on" position.
So overall, I'm a fan. I can't really comment on how long these guys are going to last (I've only been using them a few weeks but will update my review if they suddenly crash), and although I like the feel of them, they do seem to be fairly cheaply made. Anyway, for under $30, it's a hard deal to beat. I looked for something to critique everywhere I could and so far haven't encountered anything. As always, my reviews will be updated if I discover some sinister flaw I overlooked.
Buy Genius SlimStar 8000 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard Combo Now
I have had this keyboard/mouse for a little over two weeks and although I like the easy set-up and size, it was advertised as having laser printing on the keys that would stand up to heavy use. This unfortunately is not true. My letters are fading fast and blending into the black keys. This is one of the main reasons I purchased it. For the price it is not worth sending back, but I will buy a different brand and keep this one as a backup. Very disappointed!!!!!!Read Best Reviews of Genius SlimStar 8000 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard Combo Here
Well I had to think about the rating for this cause I couldn't use it right now. I bought and still own three computers in the last 10 years, all of them desktop units. The first was a Windows 98 based Dell Pentium 4, the second an XP based Dell XPS, and the current machine a Windows 7 based Dell Alienware machine. I have a very expensive gaming keyboard, with a built in color mini screen, lots of special macros and control keys. This keyboard and mouse worked fine on it, and I was surprised that the mouse was efficient enough to play Starcraft 2 without latency in movement. Unfortunately, it can't replace my gaming rig. The second machine died, and many attempt to revive it fully have failed, so I've decommissioned it. Surprisingly the first computer still works, but it's Windows 98 and is not supported by the keyboard and mouse duo.Still Win98 is old and I can't fault a new product for not supporting it. The price on these is amazing for what you get, and the 2.4 GHz is great to combat interferance problems. I had and still work with an old Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse at work. It loses signal periodically, and once when in the test lab they were testing a number of telematic devices, every time they tranmitted, the reciever module would search for a new mouse and keyboard signal, what a pain. This doesn't happen with this duo, I'm definately going to keep it around for when I use a laptop. I hate those scratch pad mice, and a good feel keyboard is nice too, especially if you use a dock.
Want Genius SlimStar 8000 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard Combo Discount?
This keyboard is so sleek and small, yet it is full-sized and the keys are well laid out. The mouse is very comfortable. The 2.4GHz receiver works from anywhere in my house. Previous wireless keyboards that I have had barely work at 5 feet, let alone in the front yard or upstairs. I have had it on for 3 months straight and the batteries are still going so it is power efficient and must have some sort of built in sleep mode for conserving battery life when you aren't using it.I've never had Genius products before, but I will always consider them now.
Highly recommend this product. The Genius wireless/keyboard set is a good compromise between utility, quality and price. Anyone who seeks simplicity and and a space/saving quality keyboard/mouse combo should be happy with the "SlimStar 8000" and I will explain why below.
FEATURES THAT I LIKE
Space saving while still a near 'full size' keyboard is the main positive. At 16" by 4.5" and only about half an inch thick the keyboard leaves room for everything else on your desk and, being wireless, can be easily moved out of the way if needed. The keys are large enough to allow for comfortable typing.
Keyboard is actually good. I'm a fast touch typist and I found myself fast touch-typing away on this keyboard within minutes. I actually like its feel.
Sensitive 1200 dpi mouse. There's nothing special about the mouse: 2 buttons and the clickable scroll wheel other than it's extremely responsive and precise.
Ease of installation, batteries included. Once the (included) 3 AAA batteries are in place, 1 for keyboard, 2 for mouse and the USB receiver is plugged into your desktop/laptop USB port you are ready to go. All works perfectly, or it does on my Windows 7 laptop.
Clever design. As one who's spilled his fair share of coffee on his various keyboards I appreciate the 8 (counted them) water drill holes on the base that would at least partially mitigate such disasters.
Price, of course. It's quite a deal for a good keyboard/mouse combo.
THINGS NOT EVERYONE MAY LIKE
Mouse is small. 2" wide by 4" long, it works best if operated with small hands. I can still use it but an 8-10 yr. old should find this mouse ideal.
It's not clear whether the mouse on/off switch should be used to preserve battery life. I don't know for how long the battery in this mouse is going to last but, if it doesn't last 'for months' I will come back to this review and report my findings. For comparison sake I've been using a wireless Logitech mouse for more than six months now and it's still with the original battery.
Receiver is not 'nano' size. At almost 1" long, some laptop users may not something that long coming out of an USB port. Of course, not a problem if used with a desktop.
Narrow function keys. The upper row which includes Esc, the Fxx keys, PrtScr, Scroll, Pause and the speaker volume buttons are half size. Depending on how often you need to press F5 or F11 this may or may not be an issue.
MY RATING
I hesitated between 4 and 5 stars, with 5 stars meaning "I love it" because this is not a perfect product. But, the negatives listed above notwithstanding, it turns out that I actually love the "SlimStar 8000" (quite a name for a cheap keyboard). At this time I'm debating with myself whether I'm going to take it to my office or give it to our 8 yr. girl to use with her desktop. In the end... it's going to be her decision :).
Answering the question: knowing what I know today, would I buy the SlimStar 8000 if I needed a good wireless/mouse keyboard combo and price was a factor? The answer is yes so, 5 stars it is. A future downgrade is possible if battery life is not up to expectations.

Wolverine PASS -100 Portable Battery Powered Hand Held Document Scanner
- Scan documents, magazines, newspapers, books, etc. a must for every home or office.
- Easy to use - no computer, software or outlet required for operation of the unit! (The ACTUAL product dimensions are 10"x1x1" and with box it is 12 x 5 x 2 inches ; 1 pounds)
- Saves scans directly to Micro SD card (not included) and small enough to toss in your bag or briefcase.
- Maximum scan width is 8 1/2", scan resolution is 600/300 dpi which is user selectable. Scan mode can be changed between color or black and white.
- Includes scanner, USB cable, calibration card, carry bag, cleaning cloth and user manual. Both PC and MAC compatible!
One option is always to use my mobile phone and I've found that can take longer just to get the scan. Getting a document lying flat is occasionally a problem. Having the lighting sufficient and positioning the phone at the right distance so the image looks reasonably "square" and not having a shadow can be a real hassle (and sometimes impossible). I can make it a little better later with software and that adds even more to the time. With all that the results are never as good as with this scanner.
The scanner has a solid feel. I've been using it for about a year and it's still going strong. All I've had to do in that time is change the two AA batteries once.
BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was missing or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

We are a private, non-profit social services agency. The most important part of our work is done in homes. There are also many requirements about current documentation, so we need something we can use in the field to collect the documents. This little scanner does a great job on everything from driver's licenses to full size sheets of paper. It is easy to calibrate and use; it is easy to keep with you; it makes great images; and it is completely self contained. You supply the memory card (up to 32g) and you're ready to scan. Then, when you return to your home or office, downloading is easy. We tried one, loved it and bought four more.Read Best Reviews of Wolverine PASS -100 Portable Battery Powered Hand Held Document Scanner Here
I don't usually do reviews of what I purchase, but this scanner is wonderful. It works exactly as described and is extremely handy.Want Wolverine PASS -100 Portable Battery Powered Hand Held Document Scanner Discount?
I really like this scanner as it serves the purpose for which it was purchased. I wanted a scanner that would allow me to store copies of medical references (to avoid having to lug heavy reference books to printers & paying for copies, etc) as a medical student/intern. I am using a 32 GB level 4 SD card, which I formatted within the scanner itself before using (formatting instructions in the manual). Works beautifully! It is extremely legible as long as you do some practice scans. You can check your work the first few times you use this by either pulling out the SD card and inserting into your laptop, or by connecting the scanner directly to the laptop via supplied USB-2.0 cord. I have not tried this on photographs (other than the printed drawing on our church bulletin, the output for which was very good), but it can scan in either black/white or color mode in either 300 or 600 dpi, so I don't imagine it would be all that sharp for someone meticulous about scanned photographs... but for $50, one realistically should not expect too much these days.Anyhow, I do emphasize that you practice the pace at which one should be gliding the scanner over a document, especially if the source is a magazine or book that cannot be flattened well enough. That way, you can avoid worrying about whether or not you captured the image as you like should your laptop not be available for a quick check in the future.
If I recall correctly, the image can be saved as either JPEG or PDF (JPEG for sure, the PDF part is the part I cannot recall).
It comes with a nice pouch for the scanner (no room for the cord, though). The interior of the pouch is that soft material that doesn't scratch the glass, and the top of which can be tightened with a draw-string. If you have a decent-sized laptop case (aka, NOT a minimalist-type case), this should be able to fit in there.Great little product. It has better resolution than Fujitsu's ScanSnap S510, even at low resolution.
You can scan from top to bottom or from side to side. The scanner has little marks indicating the optical lens extension. The only drawback is you have to scan accurately and fast, as it only gives you a window of about 20 seconds per scan. You say that's enough? Not really when you're trying to be precise, which is why it has four stars. You really have to have good pulse and precise timing for fast enough scanning of documents. I placed electrical tape on the documents for them not to move, as I scan swiftly and straight any document.
Problem is more noticeable with documents such as forms, as lines appear moved. It's not so much a technical flaw, except for the scanning window frame, as it is a human fault for the image to appear slanted in some parts.

iLuv Portable USB Rechargeable Battery Kit for iPhone 4/3GS and iPod Touch - 2700mAh
Charged fully before use; it was only able to charge my iPhone 4 to 60%. And the iPhone 4 has a 1420mAh battery. So in teory I should get 1.7-1.9 times the iPhone 4 charged from this battery. But it does not even do it once!!!
I really wanted to like this product. Build quality was good, and it worked well to the level it did. But such shabby performace is not worth it!
Very disappointing! I will be returning this ASAP....
+++ EDIT.... The product itself is marked as 2200mAh; while Amazon sels it as 2700mAh. Still underperforms for even 2200mAh.... but Amazon should fix their description!!The support staff at iLuv told me the device comes with no instructions since it's so simple to use. Clearly I am a simpleton because the device seems to be worthless and I'll be returning it shortly.
Based on the connectors, you might assume that you can charge your phone and the iLuv battery at the same time. Based on my experience, neither device will charge. There is a series of LEDs that presumably show battery remaining but sometimes they just blink. Sometimes they are steady. It's lovely to look at but without instructions, it's left up to you to decide what it really means. I for one, have no clue. After charging all night, I had all LEDs lit and tossed the iLuv battery in my pocket and went out for the day. As my phone started dying, I pulled out the iLuv device to find out that there was no charge at all and no lovely blue LEDs. It's a mystery how it went from full charge to no charge without being used. The previous day, the iLuv worked correctly so I must assume that the device is unreliable.
The device is lovely, fits comfortably in a pocket or computer bag and is the perfect device for those who want a nice sleek case, lovely blue LEDs, no instructions and a device that doesn't work exceptionally well.

Nyko Power Pak+ for 3DS
- Double the capacity and play time of the original 3DS battery Soft Feel Surface and de-bossed finger rest allow for improved control and comfortable play Includes mini screwdriver for easy installation
- Works with the Nyko Charge Base for convenient Drop and Charge feature
- Compatible with the original Nintendo power adaptor
- CE and EL certified high quality lithium polymer battery
If you know how to use a screw driver, you'll be fine with installation -I used the included (ADORABLE) screwdriver and had no problems. Any small screwdriver will do the trick, though.
My only word of caution is that removing the 3DS battery will make it forget date/time, so if you're thinking you'll get this and then swap it back and forth with the original battery depending on your battery life needs, keep in mind it will be a bit of a hassle.

When this product was first announced, I was stoked to go get it. When it released and reviews started popping out, I was pretty peeved by it. Most reviewers sounded whiny that the thing added so much weight to it! I was really only stoked for the extended battery, as the Nintendo 3DS has God-awful battery power. So, since I purchased the 3DS on Amazon, I got a $10 promotional voucher good towards any Nintendo 3DS accessory, so long as it shipped from Amazon. Go figure, I bought the Nyko Power Pak+ with the Charge Base.I received it, and I installed it, which was easy-peasy. It takes less than five minutes to do. They even give you a cute little screwdriver to do the job! When I charged it up and all, I got straight into playing my 3DS games, and oh boy, did I run it on punishing settings. I'll explain the results in a bit. Basically though, it does its job.
Does the Power Pak+ Do It's Job?
The short answer: YES. The long answer, yes, it does so by a long shot. It's a much higher capacity battery. I got the device two weeks ago, and I've been draining it dry ever since I got it for the sake of a review. What I did was run a series of four tests. I tested them with different settings, the two optimal ends of the scale, and compared the results. All tests were run with a 3DS Game in the game slot.
Test 1: Standard Battery with Max Brightness, Wifi ON, Power Saver OFF
Duration: ~2 Hours 34 Minutes
Test 2: Standard Battery, with Lowest Brightness, Wifi OFF, Power Saver ON
Duration: ~4 Hours, 37 Minutes
Test 3: Nyko Power Pak with Max Brightness, Wifi ON, Power Saver OFF
Duration: ~5 Hours, 02 Minutes
Test 4: Nyko Power Pak with Lowest Brightness, Wifi ON, Power Saver ON
Duration: ~8 Hours, 26 Minutes (I'm gonna test this one again, it seems off...)
As the results above show, the battery really adds a much bigger punch than what you would get if you had chosen to stick with Nintendo's stock battery. My biggest fear was that since I go on trips on a frequent yet sporadic basis, I would be stuck having to do something like read a book for a duration of the trip. I don't have a DS Lite or DSi anymore, so that's a bust. But with Nyko's Power Pak+, I don't have to worry too much about it anymore! Yeah, it won't last the transatlantic flight from California to Tokyo, Japan, but it'll provide much more runtime than usual.
What Did I Like and Dislike About the Nyko Product?
PROS
-Adds much more battery playtime
-Looks sleek, adds a floaty appearance to console
-Has depressions on the bottom to make your hands comfortable
-Easy installation if you know how to handle a screwdriver
CONS
-Adds more weight to a heavy console
-Harder to stuff in a pocket
-Still cannot last through a transatlantic flight
-Slightly acrid smell from rubber (maybe it's just me)
One facet I would like to address is the overall weight of the console. Many people were whining about how they thought that the battery would add a large amount of weight to the console. It's obviously going to do just that. It's a higher capacity battery, and that's a sacrifice you'd have to take. But, to be honest, the weight is really insignificant. In actually, it helps neutralize the heavier top screen and adds just the right amount of push to make the console balanced. It really helps a big-handed guy like me, and makes playing much more comfortable.
The charge base comes with the battery because when the battery is installed, it becomes useless with Nintendo's stock charge dock. It also accepts the Nintendo 3DS stock charger! I like the drop and charge play method, so I went out and bought this toy too. What you need to understand is that there are two bundles to purchase. The first one only has the battery, at $19.99 MSRP. The second bundle has the battery and the Charge Base, for a price of $29.99 MSRP.
Basically, the charge base is a rather sleek dock, with three metal pins to connect to the Power Pak+. It's the same as the 3DS dock, but it has a red and green LED light to signal charging and finished charge, respectively. The blue LED is a power indicator. Simple to use, and looks nice. It's easy to tell when your charge is done because the light turns bright green.
Things To Keep in Mind!
1. When installing the battery, change it quickly but carefully. At most, 99% of the time, you will have to reset the date and time on the 3DS system.
2. Make an initial charge RIGHT AWAY, and DO NOT PLAY with the 3DS during this charge. Some users have filed complaints that their StreetPass data deleted and could not function properly!
3. When using the Charge Base, the battery indicator will take a few minutes to display a full battery on the 3DS menu. It's regular since the battery is high capacity.
4. Use this accessory at your own risk. Apparently, it's not a Nintendo approved item, and will (sadly) void the warranty.

After running out of power a few times and realizing my 3DS was spending more time in its charge cradle than in my hands, I almost returned it. As cool as the rest of the system is, a battery life that tops out at 3 hours is a huge limitation for any portable. Fortunately, quite a few smart peripheral manufacturers have realized this, and this is one result. Note that this is a replacement battery, not a plug-in add-on like some other third party products. You remove the 3DS rear panel and original battery, and this pack takes the place of both. It's screwed on and doesn't stick in too well without being secured in this fashion, so you can't easily swap it out. Fortunately, it lasts long enough that you probably won't need to. The battery comes with extra screws and a mini screwdriver.Pro:
Inexpensive.
The rubberized surface is great; it actually makes the 3DS easier to hold.
Lasts way longer than the lame original battery. While it still won't get the 3DS up to quite the same run time as the DS Lite, it's at least tolerable now.
Seems to charge pretty quickly.
Easy to install. Took all of half a minute.
Con:
As you can probably tell by looking at the pictures, the original 3DS charge dock won't work with this product. There's one sold by Nyko if you care that much for it.
The added bulk might make the unit unable to fit in some cases or protectors. I use the pouch made by ICON and it fits, but is a bit tight.
It does make the 3DS heavier. No way around that...
This is the best current solution to the infamous 3DS battery life problem. I'd previously thought of buying extra stock batteries and swapping them out, but it's just too much of a hassle.
On a side note, having seen the original battery it's no wonder it doesn't last long. It doesn't look any different from a typical cell phone power pack.

A got the Power Pak+ the first chance I got, seeing as it double the battery life of the 3DS. The original battery life was a pethetic 2 to 3 hours, so this thing is essential. The only problem is the thickness of the power pak+ (PP+); it add close to a half inch to the thickness of the 3DS. It redeems this by having the material of the battery finger friendly, and it has little indents where your fingers would rest, so it actually adds grip to the 3DS. You can't place it in the original Nintendo Charge Base, due to the thickness, so you have take the plug out of the base and stick in right into the 3DS, or buy the Nyko Charge Base.Overall:
The Cons: Thick, Need to buy another charge base if you want to have style.
The Pros: Doubles Battery Life, Easy Grip, Easy Install, Low-ish Price.
BUY IT! WHEN THE BETTER 3DS GAMES COME OUT LATER THIS YEAR, YOU'LL WANT MORE PLAY TIME!Pros:
This battery really works. It fits well on the 3DS and is easy to install.
Cons:
This battery does not work with the circle pad pro. It would be difficult to switch between this and the original battery in order to use the Circle Pad Pro accessory. So if you're thinking about getting a Circle Pad Pro, I would advise not getting this product.
Notes:
Before installing this, be aware that any time the battery is taken out of the 3DS, it resets your time. This will reset your steps for the day if you use the 3DS as a pedometer.
