I don't know how I got along without this now that I own it. It's the easiest scanner I've owned, and the filing system that allows me to sort my documents (.pdf format instead of .bmp...yay!) and print them as needed. It made short work of 20 pages of estate tax forms that needed to be saved for future reference. Granted, the desktop model is more convenient as it self-feeds. This portable version requires the user to feed one sheet/receipt/business card/photograph at a time and choose the format and location for archiving. But I truly don't have desk space for another permanent peripheral, and this little guy stores in the drawer without a problem.

I would like the software to be a bit easier to use. I haven't spent much time trying to figure out how to save the scanned files somewhere other than the "file cabinet" set up by the software, and I find manipulating the files within the cabinet to be a little time-consuming. On the other hand, it took me a while to get the hang of pre-configuring the format and all, so some of that is my own fault.

For those users who like to have backups of everything and aren't satisfied with one hard copy, this little tool is a real find. The files are clean, straightened automatically, and it accepts even the most crinkled receipt without spitting it back. Nice!

The scanner mangles and crumples standard store receipts. The receipts cannot be fed in the middle of the scanner, and must be carefully aligned on the right-hand side, where they then mis-feed and get crumpled.

Receipts are not de-skewed, so they bend, are angled, and are sideways. The receipts are not cropped, so the receipts are scanned onto 8.5" wide pages filled with black, so when you print them out they consume gobs of ink or toner and are sopping wet on an inkjet. This, of course also means the OCR is startlingly poor.

In a test of about 25 receipts, perhaps only 20% of them had remotely accurate information. It almost never picked up the store name.

The software does not even attempt to scan and pick up line-item detail.

If you do not pick the "Receipt" profile it will not give you any data.

The scanner is slow, averaging about 15 seconds per receipt.

Overall, you will spend more time fixing up the Neat Receipts data than you would if you just keyed it in manually.

This software looks like it is what was typical 15 years ago and just never got brought into current technology.

Finally, Apple Spotlight was consistently unable to search the receipt data.

There are many alternatives to this scanner, and likely all of them are better.

I got this for the portability (way less clunky than hooking up a huge scanner) and mostly for the software.

Not sure why this one is way more expensive then the PC version, but I got a rebate on mine for purchasing tax software at the same time via Fry's.

Figuring out how it works but it seems to be a life saver from receipt clutter...mostly because I am more likely to use it regularly than procrastination hooking up my 3 other scanners (yikes!--but I need one for each purpose and this one's for receipts)--very portable and like the other reviewer said you can put them in any direction provided it is face-down and they get straightened out. You can even scan in bed.

However, there's a 50/50 to 60/40 chance that you will have to input all the data after it is straightened out, and it often reads the amount, title and sales tax incorrectly so not sure how you could expect a batch scan to work. You have to input each one and check the data.

The biggest help though is that you label each receipt by tax category and it claims to sync with Turbo Tax which makes Quicken totally irrelevant. This software organizes and totals everything for you (but you do the work).

Also, there is a pdf button that I have yet to use but that could come in handy for automatically creating a pdf from anything you scan (you also have the option of creating one when you scan or exporting afterwards to: pdf, quicken, tax data, spreadsheet, image, or csv.)

You have to watch the delete button however in folders because if you've scanned to the inbox it is deleting out of there and not out of a specific folder. There is a recovery button which seems to pull from external files as well but not replacing what you previously scanned to your inbox. Now I am scanning to folders by year, although with the internal search functions you don't necessarily have to do that. You do specify where you want to save receipts, however. There is a save button, but it also auto saves as you create receipts, apparently. Faster than exporting to a pdf however is if you highlight columns, then drag to where you want them on your desktop and it auto-creates a pdf for each file in that location (figured this out by reading the manual, which you can download from their website; according to the manual that's how you save files, but when you restart the program all the receipts are still there and have had zero issues of program crashes.)

...Also, it comes with a cleaning/calibration kit.

I haven't used this device for too long so I will update it after I do my taxes in 2012. And I suppose I could have got the PC version, but on a mac it feels less like I'm doing accounting work and more likely to do it so I guess that's way I got this version, and hopefully there are less bugs.

I give it 3.5 stars, rounding to 4. Not really for stars but not as shitty as 3. When it can organize all your receipt clutter for the past six years by tax category and year and let you get rid of years worth piper piles, I give it an upgrade to four stars, for a computer device made up a bunch of 1's and 0's at least.

Unfortunately, Neat for Mac will not export to Quicken Essentials, and there is no workaround at this time.

Neat lists Quicken as one of their options for export (.QIF file format) but the only version of Quicken that use .QIF run on non-Intel OS systems.

This is obviously annoying.

I agree with the reviewer that said any other scanner would have to be better than this one. I have a small home based business and was looking for a way to organize my receipts for tax purposes, as well as eliminate the need for keeping so much paper. I bought this scanner right before tax season and did use it last year for scanning my receipts but my whole family wanted to run away from home after listening to my never ending complaints of frustration. My brother in law suggested that I buy this scanner, he really likes it. He uses it on a PC, so I'm wondering if the problems are more related to the Mac version. Do NOT expect this scanner to pick up any correct information from your receipt. Do NOT expect it to scan a receipt directly from the receipt itself. I must first copy the receipt and then scan the copy through the Neat Scanner. I type the name of the vendor and the amount of the purchase on the top of the copied receipt. Sometimes it is smart enough to pick up the name and amount from my typed heading but most of the time it is not.

Also, it is important to note that you can't transfer data from Neat into your Quicken Financial Software. This was offered at one time but is no longer available. For me, this makes the Neat Scanner even more undesirable, as I must enter the receipts into Neat, then again into Quicken. However, the Neat software does add up the totals in each category for me which I can use when doing my taxes. I haven't been able to figure out how to have the Neat software put my receipts into chronological order. So I must also do this step before entering them into the computer. Is it really too difficult to ask that the software be able to do this for me?

Since I was in the tax crunch last year when I purchased this I plowed through and used it. However, I am researching other scanners now. Surely someone out there can create one that is better than this! I wish Quicken would come up with one.

have to say that I love Corsair, plain and simple. I had the Corsair Vengeance Blue 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM Dual Channel Memory Kit CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B before these and I have to say that none of them had any DOA sticks. I ran a heat test on these sticks right when I got them and they ran around 45-50 Celsius with minor load on them. No need for any RAM heatfans here, the heatsink is good enough (mind you I am not abusing the sticks just yet :P ).

I can say I do notice the extra power from the RAM while doing multiple tasks, such as video editing, encoding, 3d Studio Max, and other programming software. Just to let everyone know, I opened up the box, threw the sticks in, turned pc on, went right to the bios, and bam 32GB @ 1600; I didn't need to setup anything. I think for the price you cannot go wrong. Well wish I could go into more detail but honestly, it is RAM. I was a little worried when I first purchased these chips I don't have quad channel memory capabilities (sadly, lol) but I do have support for up to 32G of dual channel RAM in my machine and needed more to run more VM's during the day finding 32G dual channel specific was more expensive than these (by a lot) so I rolled the dice. I had 16G of dual channel Corsair Vengeance, and I went to their website and, yes, in smaller print it does say this RAM can be supported in dual channel systems so really I'm just here to assure anyone else that it does, indeed, work and work well in my AMD 8120 FX based board with dual channel memory capability. I Purchased the Navman 3420 for the iPAQ after becoming extremely dissatisfied with the Pharos Ostia GPS product. See my review of that product. Like the Pharos system the routing software wants to choose you route for you and may not always be the best or most practical way to go. If you want to stick to the interstates, you can't if it thinks another way is shorter. This is also a flaw in the Pharos system, but the Pharos is much worse. Also it does not offer the flexibility to get from point A to point C via point B. But that is the worst thing I have to say about this product. Overall the maps are pretty good and fairly detailed. I have found a few quirks like a missing road segment or bridge which causes the system to route you the long way around as well as a few landmarks that are not in the right place, but the re-routing capability is pretty good. The maps are fairly good size, probably averaging 50mb and will require a CF card. A 256mb card will do and hold 4 or 5 maps, but I would recommend a 512.

From the hardware point of view, the Navman 3420's GPS antenna sleeve fits the iPAQ like a glove and has an integrated compact flash slot and is still compact enough to fit in a jacket pocket. Also the suction cup windshield mount fits right into the back of the sleeve allowing the unit to be mounted conveniently to the driver.

The functionality is pretty good and the menus are clear and easy to navigate. Most of the menu items are large enough to be selected with a finger and the zoom and toggle toggles are controlled with the action button. There have only been a few times that the software has gotten `confused' and required a reboot (vs. frequently with the Pharos). You should be up and running right out of the box in the time it takes to load the maps.

I have not had the occasion to use Navman's tech support, which in itself is a plus, so I cannot comment. I'm not going to go so far as to say it's the perfect product but it's design and operation is practical and sensible. The manufacturer has obviously put some thought into the product. I would like to see further development of the mapping software and more flexibility in route planning, like via waypoints.

Summary: Overall I'm pleased with this product. Hardware 5 stars, Software 3 stars.

I was running the NAVMAN GPS on a iPAQ 3955. To make this short, after doing a "Hard" reset and applying the latest Soft-Paq I could get it to work 1 out of 10 times.

Another mistake I made was buying a SanDisk 512mb CF card so I could store the program and maps (You'll get about 1/4 of the US on the card.) You can't install the program to the CF card as it will not function and the program (4.3mb installed) definitely slowed down my machine.

Just so you know I sent it back to Amazon and was refunded.

I have been using the C-Pen 20 scanner since 2007. I teach university classes and engage in research, and this scanning "pen" is a great convenience. It is light, fast, and easy to use. It speeds up note-taking incredibly. With a small light in the tip of the pen, I just run the pen across type that I want to record and the text is automatically scanned into my word processing document. It is very accurate, but not quite 100%, so I need to watch and correct some of the text. It only works on standard typefaces, so italics, underlining and hand-written notes tend to confuse the scanner. Still, using the scanner is far faster than typing notes by hand. A button on top of the scanner serves as a hard return or a mouse click, and several functions can be programmed onto an optional menu / pad. The C-Pen plugs into a computer's USB slot, and does not require a separate power source. It comes with its own software, and updates are available from the C-Pen web site.

As a final comment and recommendation, I will say that the C-Pen did not come with a carrying case. Since the C-Pen is all-plastic, I bought a large eye-glass case which is just the right size for the C-Pen and its cable. Now I put the C-pen in my computer case or brief case without worrying about it being damaged.

If you do a lot of note-taking or transferring information between documents then you owe it to yourself to give this a try.

This scanner might be one of the most useful things I have ever bought. It isn't 100% reliable, but when you think about it, the trick it is performing is pretty complicated.

The product support, on the other hand, is basically unexcusable. It can lead to some fairly serious frustrations (don't buy this if you use Mac!), but when they changed the software or I changed my machine, I always managed to get it working... in the end.

You have to learn how to create the best conditions for the pen to work. It is never going to like old books. It prefers white pages with black type. It won't work in a sunny or well-lit place. Learn how to position the scanner on the right bit of text and what speed and angle to use. This is not rocket science, it just takes a tiny bit of patience. There are some horrendous reviews of this product, and I wonder how many were written very soon after buying it...

If you do these things, it will scan most text pretty well. You need to keep an eye out for typos, but I reckon it is still a lot faster than typing.

Be careful with it, though. I had mine for two years, and some rather rough treatment (it went everywhere with me) resulted in the USB connection breaking inside the pen. I am going to buy a new one now and keep it more carefully.

It fits the axim well, although it could have been a bit shorter (there's a small space at the upper end of the pda). But I guess it is designed to keep also all kinds of cards etc which will make the compartments thicker and thus that space will be reduced. Long story short: if you find it, go for it! Quality manufacturing, quality leather, quality packaging!

The SD's look exactly like all other SD's that I have used for the past few years, but every one in this shipment were rejected by my Panasonic as locked. However, using the slide to unlock the SD had no effect making all units unusable. An absolute waste of money!

PalmOne Zire 72 Hard Case P10968U

This case is quite sturdy, nice-looking, and the zire fits very snugly. The sliding cover over the camera is very nice.

However, the thing is practically impossible to hold in your left and hand and use. The cover swings to the left, leaving nowhere to put your hand to hold it. Fine if you just use it at your desk (or if you're a leftie), but then why do you need the hard case?

The other problem is there's no way to attach a belt clip. Again, great if you're only using it at your desk... Why couldn't they just have a screw point on the back, so you could attach a clip or not if you need it?

My husband bought this for work, where his pda receives rough treatment in an industrial environment. It does provide the necessary protection, but little other practicality. He had to buy a separate case (a bulky Targus universal case/pouch with belt loop, which the hard case fits into) to carry it around with him. He still hasn't worked out the problem of how he's supposed to hold it.

Basically, it lives in the case at work, but comes out as soon as he leaves--not exactly ideal.

The good thing about this hard case is that it'll protect the handheld. Those who are left-handed will have no problems, but us right-handed will find it very unconfortable. Since it does not fully open,(the picture above that displays as open as it can be) the case will be in your way to hold it. An other thing that I didn't like was that in order to retrive the expansion cards held in the hard case, you have to take off first the handled in order to be able to get the cards.

I wouldn't recommend this hard case if you are right handed

I was very eager to get this case for my new Zire 72. It's certainly a beautiful case, but not very functional. The front cover doesn't flip all the way under, so that if you're holding it with your left hand, it's difficult to reach the control buttons with your left thumb, as you should be able to. You cannot access the voice recorder button or the slots for the expansion cards unless you remove your zire from the case. Also, the top and bottom are completely open, which provides ready access to the slots, etc, however it does nothing to protect my zire from debris, etc, from the bottom of my purse. Also, the cradle impedes my access to the stylus slightly.

I do like the sliding window in the back that opens so that I can take pictures and video, though.

The hard case is an excellent product. Since this case was built specifically for the Zire 72, it will fit snugly. While I'm sure the hard case is easier for lefties to use, I have not had any trouble cradling it in my left hand and using the stylus in my right. (Hint: When the hinges open up, there are gaps in the outer case. Place a finger or thumb in that gap and the hard case is easier to cradle. If your hands are too big to do that, then you probably won't have any trouble cradling the hard case anyway.) The hard case has many excellent characteristics with few shortcomings:

Pros:

(1) Case is quite sturdy and will protect your Zire 72 casual drops or just the normal hazards of a commute on a subway or airplane.

(2) A sliding port on the back to allow one to use the camera without removing the PDA from the case.

(3) An open top to provide access to the card slot, on/off button, earphone plugs, and stylus.

(4) An open bottom for the power cord and mini-USB cable.

(5) The case is small enough to slip into a shirt pocket or the breast pocket of a suit.

Cons:

(1) The voice memo button is covered up by the case. You may want to consider reprogramming one of the other buttons to take that role.

(2) No storage for the Palm's WiFi card.

(3) You must remove the PDA from the hard case to put it into any other holder such as a car cradle or belt carrier. On the positive side, the Zire 72 slides in and out of the hard case with little effort.

(4) While the hard case has storage for two additional cards (normal sized, not WiFi), you must remove the PDA from the hard case to get at them.

Overall, I really like the hard case. It is classy enough that you can use it in a roomful of CEO's or college professors, but also tough enough to protect your PDA from the hazards of a daily commute

I bypassed many universal cases to wait for this one. I chose it mainly because my Zire 72 fits snugly, it offers excellent protection, and the inclusion of the camera door. I do agree that the left-swinging cover takes some getting used to, but I don't think it's as much of a problem as the other reviewers. I got used to it fairly easily.

I have two problems with this case. One is the lack of access to the voice memo button. The other problem is the expansion card holders behind the handheld; you have to remove the handheld from the case to get to the holders. Other than these minor problems, this is an excellent hard case. If you don't use the voice memo function often or use a lot of expansion cards, I would recommend it to anyone with a Zire 72.

The leather of the case is nice but the problem lies with the thin vinyl type material that was used to trim the perimeter of the case. The material is so thin that it started to peel along the folds within two months of purchase with very light use (about 2 hours per week). I have had the case for more than 6 months now, and have used the case only slightly more frequently than my initial use, and the look of the case is ruined by the peeled vinyl and exposed foam. For this reason I can't recommend this case.

the Velcro that holds that cover inside the main case is a different type and works fine, all other features of this are great, but unfortunately if you can't secure the device it's all for nothing.

I consider this a great item, but with a flaw so serious that it almost useless.

This case is very good quality and very compact. I love the leather stitching and the fact that

it has an inner case for the actual tablet as well as a traveling case to put the tablet into.

The ONLY issue with this case that I can't seem to figure out is the stand. It comes with a

photo frame type stand to prop the tablet either landscape or portrait to have it stand alone,

BUT my prop stand seems to be either too short so it falls easily or it needs to be broken in.

That seems to be the only problem, otherwise it's a good case and prevents it from getting

scratched inside my purse/backpack.

I was surprised by how well this device works, especially because it is so small. The size and weight of a cell phone, the PICO is a very compact and bright DLP projector. It is powered by a flat cell phone battery, or by an external AC adapter through the mini-USB port. The prongs on the adapter are interchangeable, an increasingly common feature, for those who travel abroad (US prong included, additional prongs sold separately). Video and audio input is through a single port on the side, using an composite cable with an audio-jack shaped plug on one end. Portability is where the PICO excels, but it comes with a sacrifice. It is perfect for people who need to take their show on the road, provided that you're only outputting from a portable media player, digital camera, or device with composite outs. It won't replace full-size projectors because of the 480 x 320 resolution and lack of VGA port. You'll still need a regular projector for laptop output and business presentations.

But for personal use, the Optoma opens up the possibility of family movie nights! You can enjoy big screen fun at about 1/3 of the price of traditional DLP projectors, and you don't have to worry about storage. It also comes with a protective soft zippered pouch (but it's too snug to fit the unit in easily).

The PICO is very easy to use and there's only 1 control: a focus dial. It's a bit finicky, but it works. There's no setup screen or any other hassle. It turns on instantly and displays the video the moment you plug in the cables. I tested it out on my Western Digital WD TV Live Network-ready HD Media Player and ASUS O!Play playing back some movies through the composite outs. Video quality looked pretty good, given the size of the device. Not great, but very acceptable. I sat the PICO on my desk about 15 feet away from the wall. The resulting video was about 10 feet across by 8 feet tall, covering almost my entire wall, and easily viewable. This distance was no problem with loss of brightness or visibility. The closer the screen is, of course, the brighter the image is (but smaller). It was actually quite cool projecting this onto my wall and I felt a sense of giddiness at seeing how big the video was. It was like having my own little private theater. I didn't like the lack of volume controls on the unit though, but this is a minor inconvenience as you can adjust the audio through the source device. The unit only has one speaker but no audio passthru port, another weak point, but it's loud enough in a small room of people. If you're competing with outside noise, it will probably be inadequate.

This product would've scored higher had it not been for the battery. The projector itself is warranted for 1 year. The battery for only 3 months! When I first got the projector, I charged the battery up fully, then forgot about it for a few weeks. Expectedly, it lost its charge during that time, so I left it plugged in overnight. The next day, I unplugged it and discovered that unit would not turn on. The battery inexplicably died. The red LED on side normally lights up when charging. I had to run the unit plugged into the wall at all times because of the faulty battery. This may be an isolated incident, but Optoma's 3 month warranty on the battery isn't very reassuring. This is definitely fishy and something to consider.

To summarize: if you're looking to connect a laptop to this, look elsewhere because it has no VGA port, and the low resolution means you won't see much even if you use a VGA to Composite or SVideo Converter because laptops are typically 1024x768 or higher. For geeks and video enthusiasts, the possibility for home theater fun may be an attractive selling point.

The Pico PK100 is a very small battery powered portable projector that produces a surprisingly good image in a darkened room. This model only supports composite video input. I was given this projector as a gift so I would likely have chosen the Optoma PK102 Pico Pocket Projector for the additional PC VGA support if picking one out for myself (I bought Sabrent PC Laptop Mac Computer to TV Presentation Converter, VGA to Video, PC to TV Converter Box, VGA-Video Converter TV-PC85 to provide the composite video, works great). That being said, the PK100 is still a remarkable device that is both fun and useful.

The box contains the Projector, rechargeable battery, USB cable (for charging only), charger, tripod adapter, and composite video\audio cable (Yellow, Red\white). We tried several video sources, including a digital camera, portable DVD player, and an iPod Nano (with the video output cable). These all worked well and produced perfectly acceptable image quality.

The unit has two brightness levels, but I always use the brightest one as it makes the truest colors. The darker the room the better, but the image is very visible at 6' in normal home ambient lighting. At 6' the image projected is roughly 2'x3' at 12' the size is 4'x6' but too washed out in anything but near total darkness.

Having a projector that works so well and that can be slipped into a pocket is very cool.

I bought this unit because i wanted to be able to project images from my iPod Touch and iPod Nano 3G and didn't want to have to worry about breaking expensive bulbs. I already had one of those $49 cables to go from the iPod to composite video (the yellow cable).

I am amazed at how small this unit is--smaller than a flip camera. It doesn't do well in a room that isn't dark, but since I plan to use this for DJ gigs this isn't a drawback for me.

The image is good quality, up to 6 feet in size. Keep in mind it has just the composite input--you won't be able to go from a laptop to this device without some sort of converter box. Also, if you have 3.x or above firmware on your iPhone or iPod Touch you will have to buy the proprietary Apple cable.

I showed this off to the IT guys at work and I just overheard them raving about it! And they are a tough audience!

CONS: you have to screw in a tiny adapter (provided) to put the unit on a tripod, and I know I will lose the thing eventually. I wish the mounting had been better thought out. Also it is powered via usb so you will need to either charge the battery beforehand or have a laptop to plug into, it does come with a USB to AC adaptor for charging.

I sent this back. It would not work for my situation at all. I am a classroom teacher, and I attempted to use this for class. It was so dim, no one could make out the images. I could not get the room dark enough so that it would work, even with shades drawn.

Although my pouch took a while in arriving because of the disruption caused by Hurricane Irene, I wasn't disappointed when I received it. It does eactly what I bought it for, keeps my phone safe from accidental scratches or bumps as the inside is velvety too.

The reason for the 4stars is because the clasp at the top seems like it will lose its elasticity quickly but it still holds when necessary so I'm good.

I got the Lifedrive one week ago to replace a sony Clie. The following comments are based on one week experience.

Pros:

1. New lifedrive manager software which in most cases obviate the need for hotsync. This is truly revolutionary.

2. Larger hard drive. Finally we are catching up with the rest of the world. You may be able to replace your iPod mini with this more versatile handheld.

3. Good voice recorder. I just got back from a meeting and recorded one whole days worth of talks from the back of a room with 60 people and record quality was quite good and no software bugs were noticed. In addition to the time allocated under your voice memo section, you can directly record to your hard drive allowing you to record more stuff.

4. This machine can store an enormous number of powerpoint presentations. This is a big plus for if you do any teaching e.g. quick review of a topic with a med student before a surgery.

5. Nice metallic finish. Looks better than cheap looking T5.

Cons:

1. Poor battery life. After a whole day of heavy use, the battery dies without warning.

2. Repeated powering down of the hard drive causing a few second delay in opening new applications. Annoying as hell!!!

3. No way to customize turning off the screen after a short period of inactivity. If you play chess on this machine, it becomes annoying. By the way, Hiarcs chess engine runs quite well on this machine(Downloadable for 39.99).

4. Adobe reader formats most documents well, but some with complex formatting turn into incomprehensible amorphous text.

5. Price. I don't understand why a piece of cheap looking electronics made in china should cost this much money.

6. No integrated cell phone or camera.

7. Some applications don't run on this device. I signed up for audible.com membership to get a $100 rebate. But so far I have been unable to make the audible manager recognize this device and download audiobooks to this device.

8. It is very disappointing palm decided to put the cheaper and slower WiFi. I suspect their next device will have the faster version.

9. Size. More bulky than other palm handhelds. Not a true shirt pocket device.

10. No headphone provided. Why can't they throw in a $10 headphone for this $499 device. I am using my old sony clie headphones which works fine.

Overall, 4 stars. I am sure I will find a lot more annoying problems as I use it more.

I've had my Lifedrive for about 3 mos. now and have been very pleased with it. There seems to be quite a few negative reviews about the Lifedrive so I was a little wary at first. Many of the complaints seemed to stem from running older Palm software that didn't operate on the new Palm OS or from people who weren't used to using Palm PDA's. Although Palms are very easy and intuitive to use I think the Lifedrive is a little more complex due to the integrated hard drive, which at first doesn't seem integrated at all.

I didn't reuse any of my older Palm OS software which must have spared me from some of the re-starts and lock-ups some people experienced. Once my unit was charged I started with a new user name (so a new synch profile is created) and then immediately installed the 2.0 software update. I've only had 2 restarts on the device since I started using it, but I use it quite a lot. One restart was apparently due to a poor wireless connection and another I think was caused by Versamail while downloading an e-mail with an attachment. Other than that the device has been very stable and the restarts haven't been repeated.

At first I wasn't very pleased with the new Graffiti II but now that I'm used to it I'll concede that maybe it is an improvement over the older version. Handwriting recognition on Palms has always seemed far superior than on Pocket PC's to me and the Lifedrive's no exception.

Some reviewers have mentioned a "lag" problem when starting a new program. I was a little worried about this before I purchased the Lifedrive after reading it in several reviews. However, I tested a couple of Lifedrives first at electronic stores and didn't really notice any lagging or hesitating. It might have been 3rd party software issues as I haven't noticed this problem-and I'm very impatient.

www.palmfocus.com has a list of Palm software rated for compatability with the Lifedrive. Before installing older Palm OS software it would be a good idea to check this list rather than struggle with your device. (Any software written for the new OS isn't an issue as far as I know.)

Pros:

+Wireless works well and connects easily.

+Being able to store, view and edit MS Word and Excel in their native format is a plus. (no conversion step as on Pocket PC)

+Store tons of videos, music and photos and take it with you everywhere.

+Synchrone entire folders from your desktop computer (Only folders on the root drive of your device can be synchronized so nested folders won't be synchronized unless you spread them out in the root directory of the drive. This will change the folder heirarchy on your device but not your desktop if you want to keep all the folders synchronized)

+The USB synchronization and connection has been flawless. (This hasn't been my experience with Pocket PC's)

+Very powerful yet elegant PDA!

Cons:

-Battery consumption high when using wireless. Don't leave on any longer than you have to.

-It's a little big and bulky to hang on to compared to older Palm PDA's. (Wish it had a place for a lanyard)

-Working with other applications while listing to music causes interuptions in the music playback.

-Versamail synch setup didn't go very easily for me. Make sure your default e-mail profile on your desktop is Outlook before you even get started with mail sync setup.

I've installed Dataviz Smartlist which is an excellent and fairly sophisticated database application which can sync with Microsoft Access. It works very well on the Lifedrive.

Also installed Mapopolis and it also works well. You must install maps to RAM or on a SD card and not the hard drive.

I had the pleasure of reading some of your reviews, and quite frankly, I don't know if I should feel fortunate or laughing out loud, not to be rude, but literally, given that there is absolutely nothing wrong with mine.

After you received your LifeDrive, the unit turned on ok, the jacks don't fall out, the screen is not scratch etc, then, folks, there is nothing wrong with your unit. I can say with 99% confident that it is all software related.

Here's some advices for you that might help:

1). You should not use the operating software come with the CD; instead, you should download the latest version from the Palm site. And you should install the update 2.0. Then you need to know how the unit works, there are two storage areas in the unit, the internal memory and your 4 GB hard drive. You need to understand how backup works, and how to backup your cache as well as the files in the hard drive. Use Drive mode to backup your hard drive to your pc, and resync often for backing up the other portion. There is no need to use LifeDrive manager come with the CD.

2). You must have some sort of Uninstall software installed in your unit, because chances are you will installed something and want to get rid of it. I am using Uninstall Manager from Palm, and it works great. Oh, and for the one who complaints about the unit turned itself off after 3 minutes of inactivity ... There are softwares to prevent that, check the web.

Now here is the truth. This unit by itself may be over-priced; however, the synergy this unit can provide after you cleverly match it with well chosen softwares will give you a return on investment that is completely unmatched even at 2 to 3 times their combined price point. It's like having an assistant working for you 24/7 and you pay him/her 50 cents a day.

My LifeDrive is a powerful breast after I mate it with the following personally chosen softwares: Uninstall Manager, DateBk5, ShadowPlan, DayNotez, Supernames 2.0, Repligo PDF Mobilizer. Doc to Go 8.0, SmartList to Go, MyBible, etc. You get the point. (alternatively, you can replaced Datebk5 with Agendus, and Supernames with Beyond Contact, ShadowPlan with ListPro, or Life Balance etc). I don't play games, watch videos, or listen to mp3, but you can if you like.

I have not had one single reset that I am not aware of. Perhaps the only down side is that the unit does take an extra second to load, but after a while, I hardly notice it. It doesn't have a camera which some of you might prefer. Other than this, great unit.

I purchased this in june and had to return it. I use it as a physician and have had a Tungsten C, and Visor and Palm V, each of which represented continuous improvement in speed and usability. The lifedrive was so slow switching between applications, up to 2 minutes and usually thirty to 90 seconds that I couldn't function. Also the programs I used ran more slowly (10-20 seconds for steps that were instantaneous before) than before or than on the T|X with which I have replaced it . Iuse a prescription program and it links to epocrates which meant every time it would take several minutes to perform a task that took 10-20 seconds previously.

On the plus side the multimedia and PIM functions worked well if you waited for them to start. It has a sharp screen and pictures. The dictaion feature was great.

I purchased a Life Drive PDA because of the large memory capacity. I upgraded from Sony Clie. I have been unable to get any help from Palm, since my Life Drive crashed after a long holiday weekend. I guess the battery ran down and it will not recharge. A $500 device that is now useless. I have now returned to using my Sony Clie which continues to work. If I were you I would think twice about buying such an expensive PDA that does not contain replaceable batteries. Take a look at Palms website where they tell their customers that sending the device back could cost you more than the amount it would cost to buy another. "Let the buyer beware!"

This is by far the best case for iPad that is very reasonably priced. It does not hide the device, yet it offers protection good enough even for my 3-yr old kid. Fits snugly onto my iPad. The clear cover doesn't add any garish color to what is a very elegant product. The screen protector fitted on easily with no bubbles and the port protectors (for the headphones and the cable ports) were a nice touch even nicer is that two of each were provided, so in case I lose one I have a spare. The case added almost nothing to the iPad and I could continue to use a more portable and good-looking case around my SwitchEasy protected iPad (I use the BookBook from Twelve South a very stylish faux book cover).

I was going to go with an otterbox case to protect my ipad. Since i have a mobile business i was initially looking for something tough that would provide a good amount of abuse but i didn't like the idea of hiding the ipads looks so i went with this clear case. I have to say i'm happy i went with this one because it looks great. It kind makes the ipad look like those classic apple translucent macs and ipods from back in the day. The only thing i didn't like about it is one side doesn't sit very well and has some play in it do to the plastic not sitting flush againt the back of the ipad, I don't know if this is a defect from the factory or what but other than this minor thing i love the case. By the way, this case comes with an ipad screen protector. Although it doesn't tell you in the amazon description it does come with one. The screen protector is of good quality I was able to put it on with no problems, just make sure no dust gets on the ipad when you put it on because it will create bubbles.

I wanted a way to secure my iPad while traveling. The CTA Cable Lock with Stand is a great solution. The frame slides over the corners of the iPad (including my smartcover and back snap shield). Wrap the cable around a secure object (table, chair, etc.) and insert the lock into the back of the frame. Works just like a laptop cable lock. Now I feel better about leaving it in the hotel room. I wasn't really interested in the stand that was included. The frame slides onto the stand which will pivot. Nice idea, but the plastic seems too light to support the iPad safely, too top-heavy. The frame itself is a little bulky, but lightweight. Overall it's an easy solution to protect a big investment!

On Lexmark X4580 these ink cartridges display a "Left Cartridge Incorrect" error message. Getting really tired of Lexmark brand printers and ink cartridges, and their tech support suggested that the best course of action is to buy a new printer from them. i ordered this microphone and one other for videotaped conferences, intending to keep the better of the two. This one did not work at all; the only sound on the video was buzzing. It was not the camera because the other microphone worked nicely. It does have a nice low profile and rubber backing to prevent it from sliding across the table, but useless features if the microphone itself doesn't work. This is a great laptop sleeve. It fits my HP Pavilion snugly and has substantial padding. The pocket is nice for holding a CD/DVD, a small pad of paper, a pen/pencil and a flash drive, but isn't large enough for a mouse or a true hard drive. Going into this purchase I was not expecting much knowing this was a not a high end HD projector but then again it's a fifth of the cost of a decent hd projector. I have had it just about two weeks and have tested it in a variety of setups. I first connected it to an XBOX 360 using a third party vga cable. There were no issues with ghosting or poor resolution. The only complaint would be that the color of some of the maps on MW3 looked a little dark which I suspect is due to the cheap third party cable used to connect to the projector.

Next I hooked up a PS3 using a 25ft Blue Rigger Hdmi cable purchased here. MW3 looked fantastic with no issues with dark color on the maps which lead me to beleive the problem with the XBOX 360 was the cable and not the projector. I also tested serveral Disney BluRays on the PS3 which looked fantastic as well.

Lastly I connected the projector to a Roku LT also purchased here and it looked fantastic as well streaming Amazon Instant Video and Crackle movies.

As for the other review stating a problem with the focus, I have had none, set it upon start up and it stayed in focus during use. As far as the other reviewer stating it not being HD, the native resolution is not however depending upon the connection it will upconvert the resolution up to 1080P. I suspect the problem with that reviewer was either the cable being used or improper setup of the resolution on the PC.

As a side note I have this projector projecting to a FAVI 72" 16:9 projector screen also purchased here. In conclusion this is a fantastic projector and is in my opinion well worth what it is selling for here on Amazon, I would have been happy if I paid twice as much. If your on the fence and realize this is not a top of the line HD projector, buy it you will not be dissappointed!

Optoma is one of the leading projector manufacturer in the world, and yet, I got one that is defective. When it arrived, everything was fine. In terms of projector performance, I agree with other reviewers, and even critic review from Projector Central. It a great little projector for a great little price, if it works. Sure it's a little difficult to focus, but I was surprised at the picture quality. Playing HD materials gives HD quality, regardless of what the native resolution may be.

Yet, at the day when I have it setup properly after calculating the distance, getting the projector screen, and testing with all available sources, it shut down on its own. It wasn't even 10 hours since I have first started using it. It refused to power on after that. I tried different power sources, different extension gangs, even direct wall connections, nothing worked. And since I imported this, I don't have local warranty, and to return it to Amazon will cost me more than the projector itself. Lucky for me, the local distributor/service center accepted the projector even though it was an import, but therein lies another issue. When the technician turned on the projector in the service center, it worked like a charm. I was flabbergasted. The technician told me to use a good 2-pin converter (my country Malaysia uses a 3-pin connector) and then went on to charged me USD 25 for that little amount of advice. I had no choice but to pay the money, which wasn't made known to me BEFORE he accepted the projector for service. Sure I could argue, but I was just glad the projector worked at that time.

I went on to buy a good converter as advised, and went home to test it. Worked like a charm. So I put it away. The next day, I had everything set up with the projector screen and sources and everything. I turned the projector on, and nothing. It played dead. No matter what I do, it just won't come on. So I paid that service fee and bought an expensive converter for nothing. I packed it away.

The next day I turned it on again, in my room, just to test, and it came on! I was thrilled! I set up everything, and brought the projector out to my living room. Connect it, turn it on, nothing. It played dead, again.

I have absolutely no idea what the hell is wrong with it. I have no idea how the hell to fix it, and I am definitely not going to bloody send it back to the service center so they can charge me again for something that they didn't do.

I also sent an e-mail to Optoma US, but they have not replied to me. It's probably because of the holiday season, so I'll give them a few more days. If I can't get this projector to work and no one from Optoma is going to help me fix this, I am never ever forever buying another Optoma projector ever again. Right now, I have a great little low cost projector when it works, and a very expensive paper weight when it doesn't work.

So for all international customer thinking about importing this projector, make sure your local service center will accept it, or at least you have ways to return the projector to Amazon for a refund.

As a conclusion to my review (more like my experience with the projector), I declare this projector F.U.B.A.R.

Found out that the problem was due to a faulty power adapter. Bought a compatible one from a local electrical shop and everything works fine. Still difficult to focus though. And the projector actually loses focus while in use. I experience this once in about 60 minutes.

More importantly, the support staff DID NOT REPLY to my e-mail at all. Guess my problem isn't really their main concern so long as my credit card had cleared the purchase. Optoma actually dares to ignore a genuine problem on their product, so guess what I'm gonna do? Ban for life. I will never ever buy another product from Optoma again. I will never recommend anyone to do so, and I will also never sell any Optoma products ever again (did I not mention that I own a company that builds home theaters for my clients? Well, I do.). So for those who are reading this review, choose another product. I know there are not many products that fall within this price range, but I'd suggest that you save up just a little more, and then go for a better projector. It will be worth the wait, and you will save yourself all the trouble. Trust me on this. I am speaking from experience. This projector isn't bad, really, just that the company that makes it is.

We bought this, in anticipation of paying for an Amazon prime membership, and streaming movies. I was sad to see that the kindle fire has no ability to hook up to this projector (the fault of the fire, not the projector) but it hooks up to my computer and to my husbands vizio tablet no problem! I was amazed to find that it even hooks up to the little dvd players that we let our younger kids watch their movies on. We already had a projector (with a bulb and very high res) that we use for dvd's and blue rays. But it was so old that it couldn't hook up to the computer.

I am happy to say that this projector is great. We set it on the table about 8 feet from the wall. Doesn't get hot. It's easy to plug in to the computer, and we are more than happy with the picture clarity. My older kids even like to plug their tablets into it and play games on the wall. My 3 and 5 year olds like to plug their little dvd player into it and watch dora ...even during the day! I was surprised that it would have enough brightness to show up? (I don't know that I would be thrilled to watch it during the day, with shades open, but I must say that it was clear enough to watch Dora the Explorer. But, way cool in the minds of my little ones, let me tell you! And no fighting over "who gets to hold the dvd player". It does get a little out of focus periodically, but the kids jump up and fix that!

We do like how portable it is! It doesn't feel as fragile as our older projector. I would never take our other "expensive bulb projector" out of the movie room and into the kitchen for the toddler. NEVER. But, this little optoma seems much less breakable, (heck of a lot lighter, I'll tell you that!)

The speakers work...but not well. But, it does have the ability to plug in speakers. (which we have done, and it works just fine) I'm a bit irritated by the bunch of wires, so am currently waiting for Amazon to send me a wireless "thing of a jig" that will enable us to hear the movie on the pre wired speakers on our living room ceiling :) Dora is about to get loud!

I bought with lot of expectations but the projector stopped working after a week or so !! I'm not sure if this will be covered under the international warranty but i must say that i wasted my money on this product. Till it worked, it was fine and performed as claimed.

I advice you all to refrain buying this product !!
