INTRODUCTION

I've been using my iPhone 4 with a mount to an air vent, but wanted to finally use the iPad (1st gen) in the car but could not find any iPad mounts on Amazon with decent reviews. I finally did a generalized internet search and then discovered that the brand RAM was reviewed favorably by an outside review website.

Luckily, Amazon does sell the RAM iPad mount and it has exceeded my expectations.

PROS

1. Very strong suction mechanism The base of the suction is a rather strong, and large cylinder with a lever that one rotates to create a very powerful suction

2. Wide range of positioning possible in the 2 ball joints There is a ball joint at the suction and another one attached to the iPad cradle which allow a very wide range of positions.

3. Extremely strong locking mechanism for both ball joints There is a lock that one twists on the arm which will simultaneously lock the positions of both ball joints. The arm is made out of metal.

4. High quality plastic is used for the cradle/holster for the iPad which is very strong.

5. Fits iPad (1st generation) perfectly If you have an iPad 2, there are two small rubber bumpers which you apply to the cradle/holster to allow for the thinner iPad 2 to fit.

CONS

1. You have to attach the cradle/holster to the arm with 4 screws and locking nuts (which are supplied) which took a little more effort than I expected. 1 of the locking nuts had a defect.

2. The arm is not long, which is reasonable considering the weight of an iPad, but it results in having your iPad close to your windshield. This may not sound like a significant problem, but it results in having a large percentage of your needed visibility obscured by the iPad, which looks gigantic when attached to your windshield.

CONCLUSION

This iPad mount is pure quality and awesome in its strength of suction. The construction uses joints made out of some sturdy material and a metal arm with a great locking mechanism. I have used it without it falling and even attached it to the moonroof so that it displays near the car ceiling so that backseat passengers can use it.

The greatest negative, is that the arm is probably necessarily short, causing the iPad to block what seems like a shockingly large part of your visibility. I never realized how large the iPad is until I saw it blocking my vision. Think carefully about how large the iPad is and try positioning it in your car behind some part of the front windshield and ask yourself if you can really tolerate this before purchasing this mount.

Otherwise, this is an excellent, high quality mount that actually works in holding up a large and relatively heavy iPad.

I purchased this mount to use my iPad2 in my RV as both a digital road map and a GPS. This mount works great, my iPad2 fits perfect, safe and secure but still easy to remove if my wife needs it on her lap. As my windshield is high I also purchased a 3" RAM base mount to attach to my center console to place the iPad2 lower (and out of sight) and away from direct sunlight. I bought this product so that I could watch videos on my iPad when running on my treadmill. For my use, it works perfectly.

However, keep this in mind: You need to mount the suction cup to a very smooth surface if you expect it to hold solidly. As an experiment, I tried to mount it on my car's dashboard, which has a slightly textured surface. It had no chance of staying put.

Two other items you should be aware of before buying:

1. Plan to take off any type of iPad skin/case before using. The design tolerances of this product are extremely tight, which is why your iPad is held so solidly once it's in the mount. I have a Belkin skin for the iPad, which is really minimal in thickness. Even that needs to be peeled off before mounting.

2. Because of these tolerances, I would do my homework before buying this to use with an iPad 2. Don't assume it will fit. Find out for sure.

Took about 2 hours to fully charge then I took it to the bowling alley with me. I was able to charge my iPad,iPod touch,phone and mifi . I picked this bag as I was looking for something more stylish than the average (I can't stand the standard black canvas bags). The bag is very comfortable I like that it is soft vs. a firm leather bag and the strap is an appropriate width (some come with narrow ones that dig into your shoulder). Shortly after receiving it (I have had it about 3 weeks) the shiny leather-type material started to peel away from the backing. I had it on a plane and put it under the seat in front of me and it definately showed wear really quickly. I am not thrilled about the lining either which is a felt type material so things don't slide in and out easily. It also stains items put into it. I had a white cord for my iPhone in the bag and it now has a green sheen to it. I kept it around as it is a good size and comfortable but have already bought another bag which I'll use for more day to day activity.

WIRELESS DISTANCE REPORT SELLER PERFORMANCE

I read a number of reviews where the units were not performing well as far as wireless distance and pairing problems. Mine goes 28 feet (I measured it) line of site & 10-15 feet through walls. I have not had to pair it at all; it just worked out of the box. (envelope in this case). Pre-Order, I e-mailed the manufacture about the distance problems; they indicated that older models do have a distance problem by replying, "new revisions don't have any problems with distance". (indicating the older revisions did & do). This seller has the new revisions in stock; at least that is what I got. The standard free shipping (USPS) took 5 days and arrived in a envelope with no paperwork. Documentation is included in the re-closing plastic, peg hanger' clear display packaging.

PERFORMANCE USAGE

The iPassPort KP-810-10A works as advertised for me, but keep in mind IT IS VERY SMALL & LIGHT! 2.25 x 6 and a 1/4 inch thick. It is made to be used holding it in your hands and typing with your thumbs, or one handed finger typing. The touch pad is small but works great, it's 1.25" square. You may have to fine tune your preferences in the MS Win Control Panel Mouse setup for your double tap and precision settings.

The buttons-keys are beveled up in the center making it easy to feel each one and confirm pressing them as they quietly click. The back-light works very well, but a little uneven light wise. My cat loves the red laser pointer & my fish are terrorized by it. It is a little awkward to use at first but would work in a demo.

5-5-2012 PERFORMANCE UPDATE 7 MONTHS OF USAGE LATER!

I have noticed I can no longer rely on the radio signal being sent when I press a key getting to the receiver. If I type a sentence I always have to go back and correct it. This problem seems to be getting worse. I guess its the ware of usage on the keys that is doing it.

BATTERY LIFE

I have had the unit for about 2 weeks now. I had to recharge it once (after the original charge when I received it). It lasted a week with pretty heavy usage. It recharged fast, 23 hours (I was not watching it when the light came on indicating it was fully charged). The unit does not seem to use much power if left on while not in use. According to what I read, it does not shut itself off after a time out period, but it does not seem to make much difference.

WHAT'S INSIDE?

I dissembled the unit by removing the 6 screws on the back. The 4 Volt battery is about 1.25 x 1 x .2 very small and not replaceable. There is 1 main PCB with the laser and transmitter-receiver as tiny separate components. There is no visible antenna but that does not seem to degrade it's performance. The keys don't fall out and are built into the face. It looks well made.

PRO:

It works as advertised and I no longer have a full size keyboard clogging up my remote control table. No distance problem for me at all. I have no regrets.

Perhaps even more attractive, the manufacture has been constantly in R&D on this product line; perfecting it and making future upgrades not only possible, but affordable. Even their high end units are under $50 USA

We weren't sure what to expect buying this, thought it was going to be a "sleeve" of some sort to slip over the ipod. It isn't, it's simply a decorative sticker. Two stickers, actually, one for back and one for front. Unlike the implication of the picture, the stickers do not cover the screen (that would be absurd). It does not include a screen protector.

The stickers must be applied with care to make them 'straight'...they don't cover ALL of the visible exterior, so if they aren't straight, it shows.

My son enjoys having the coolest looking ipod on the block, thus the stars. however I had been hoping for something protective which this is not. I suppose it protects against scratches, but not against dings, water, drops, etc. (I use an Otterbox for my own for this purpose, but my son doesn't think that's cool looking enough.) We have not tried removing the stickers but they don't seem very "removable" to me unless I were to get at it with rubbing alcohol.

It's cheap, so probably worth what you pay for it, but just understand what you are getting: iPod/iPhone shaped stickers.

It's actually an awesome case. Perfect fit for my laptop. You will simply not find more bang for your buck. These are quiet fans that last and they will plug right into your motherboard. Just FYI, you want to mount these fans vertically and not horizontally because they are sleeve bearing fans. I have made the mistake of mounting these fans horizontally and they get loud and die prematurely. This is not CoolerMaster's fault, it is simply the nature of sleeve bearing fans. For horizontal applications you can use fans with a ball bearing, a rifle bearing et al.

I originally found an entry on an unnamed "deals of the day" website that had a competing site selling 2 Scythe S-FLEX (E-Series) fans for $20. I heard they (Scythe fans) were some of the best fans out there, and was about to spring for that deal... but when I realized after the added 8 dollars for shipping, it came out to be about 30 dollars... 15 bucks per fan. not so much of a bargain anymore. some fellow in that thread mentioned that if you want a real bargain, get these puppies from Amazon. Four 120mm fans for just over 10 dollars. Of course I had to take a look, and I'm glad I did.

Now, when I built my computer, I bought a CoolerMaster case (CM690). This case has room for 7 case fans I believe. It came with three of these very same model fans, so I already knew from personal experience that they were very quiet and did the job. Certainly worth 3 dollars a fan, no doubt; plus I wanted to add some extra fans since I had so many available mount areas in the case and the daily temps are in the upper 90's right now.

Ordered them, got exactly what you see in the picture. It's been said before, it's only 4 fans, and 12 screws for mounting. The fans are three pin. In my case, I have areas for 7 fans, but my board only has 3 headers! So I feel a lot of you are going to have to either get a couple of 3-pin splitters or something for these to use them all.

The fan cords themselves are approximately 12" long. My front fan cord will not reach any of the fan headers on my motherboard, so I had to use the dreaded 4-pin molex adapter /slash/ monstrosity that turns your tidy cable management into a rat's nest. That will allow you to hook up 2 of these fans into only 1 motherboard fan header -plus, it gives you an extra 12" of cord. With 24" of cable (including the fan's cable itself), it should reach to the darkest corners of any sized case, and will be a lot more manageable and cleaner looking than the hideous molex/4-pin adapters.

So how about the noise? What can we compare it to in real life? Ok -right now, in my case (1 foot from me, at about shoulder level) I have 6 of these fans running, plus the CPU fan. I would most closely compare the noise level to that of an air vent or air conditioner intake when your central AC is on. Just a very low, non-distracting flowing air noise.

Now if I get crazy and crank them to wide open, they are a bit noiser, but really not too unbearable. I would compare 6 of them at full speed to the noise level of maybe... an electric toothbrush? This is a bit distracting, as it actually catches my attention (as said though, the case is 1 foot from me, nearly level with my shoulders/head).

If you let the motherboard control the speed of the fans, they are very near silent. It sounds like maybe a newer CD-ROM drive steadily spinning a CD at idle (*not* revving up).

So if you are even questioning getting this... just spring for it. They may not be super high-end wind tunnel 250CFM fans that will allow you to use your computer case as a second freezer, but they do the job, and they do it well for such a tiny amount of money. On a side note, I recommend CoolerMaster products in general... especially their cases. Sturdy and well thought-out designs.

P.S. -fan direction and airflow is sometimes a science, depending on where your mount holes are and what kind of heatsink, etc, you have. Personally, this is my config:

1 front fan pulls air into the case, over the hard drive bay area

1 back fan, obviously pushes hot air out the back

2 top mounted fans, with air flowing upwards and out of the case (my thought behind this was hot air rises, so at the top of the case is most likely going to be hot air that I want to remove from the case, not blow it back in)

2 side mounted fans (this one is tricky, as one is over the add-in card area... which I have pulling in cool air -and the real question is: what about the fan mount right above the heatsink? I'm using the Intel stock heatsink & fan, which blows air straight up off the processor, which would be perpendicular to the side of the case. my thought here was at this mount area, have the fan blowing air *out* of the case, since hot air is going to blow off of the heatsink, into this fan, which will expel the air out the side of the case)

Point is, though: When you start working with 4, 5, 6 or more fans... you're creating areas of high and low pressure, which can make the heat move differently than you might expect. Some configurations that I expected would dramatically reduce case temps in fact did the opposite and raised my temps!

The only things I wish these fans had but don't are 1) shielded/covered cables. looks a lot nicer when the three yellow, red and black cables are wrapped in a black shielding. I imagine this could be done with some duct tape after you got your cables routing where you want, so it's not a big deal... and 2) maybe if the cables were a little bit longer... like maybe 18" would be great, for larger cases. It gets annoying having to reach in and unplug the side fans every time I want to take the side cover off! Other than that, this pack is the cat's pajamas.

works well with cooler master elite 341 case... these arent high performance but this should move a fair amount of air on a un-overclocked/un-modded pc.. provides enough ventilation and lower the temps a bit.....

It could be great, the material is good quality and the design is perfect except for the fact that it absolutely does not fit the MinoHD III camera. It is way too big. I tried many times and had to give up. Will try to return it. What a shame.

Cheaply made, it does help a little with the slippry polished aluminum camera, but stretches easily and loses its shape, especially when taking in and out of your pants pocket. Nothing to get excited about...I may just attach some double-sided tape to hold it in place better.

I bought this product for my Macbook Air 13". The purpose of having an Air is because it is small and thin and the purpose of buying a sleeve is to put your laptop in before putting it in another bag. First thing I experienced with this keyboard was feeling how heavy and sturdy it wasfor us rigorous typers, it's a chore to have to move our keyboards back after our strokes push it away. The interchangeable keysets made this purchase very worthwhile for me(a Starcraft/WoW player). Great keyboard, heavy and sturdy so it does not move around when pushing on the keys. Media keys work with iTunes in the background without having to alt-tab out of a fullscreen game :D

A word of advice when installing this keyboard: Do not have it plugged into a USB 3.0 port. The SteelSeries Engine software will not recognize the device and the firmware update will freeze causing the keyboard to crash and become unresponsive. I found this out the hard way, after multiple installs/uninstalls and computer reboots, once I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port, SteelSeries Engine installed and recognized keyboard with out an issue and the firmware update was applied with no problems.

This keyboard does, in fact, work with older keysets that are on the official compatibility list, the list is easily found by going to google.com or any other search engine and typing in "Official SteelSeries Shift Compatibility List"

I was able to use my Zboard World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade keyset with it, which is about 5 years old. You just have to uninstall the SteelSeries Engine and reinstall it with your compatible keyset in the SHIFT keyboard.

The keyboard works great. The only thing I noticed it that when using other keysets, those keysets are a little harder to get the latch to unsnap.
