Glenayre @ctiveLink Wireless Stand Alone Messaging Springboard Module

Glenayre @ctiveLink Wireless Stand Alone Messaging Springboard Module
  • Standalone wireless e-mail and Internet connectivity for Handspring handhelds
  • Use with any Handspring handheld (sold separately)
  • Send and receive e-mail and query Internet information services with preloaded applications
  • Store e-mails on your Handspring (storage capacity depends on handheld's memory size)
  • Requires minimum $24.95 monthly wireless service option through Metrocall

This is supposed to be a wireless device that let's you serf the web, when in actuality it is nothing more than a pager. You send web inquirys, and it sends back a reply, then you have to send another... get the point. An absolute worthless device, with the limitation of 100,000 characters a month you run into the maximum rather quickly. If you have a cell phone just get a cable to connect it to a modem and your off. It's cheeper...

This springboard module is pretty good, but you've got to check which paging service your specific module will work with. For instance, since I own a Skytel module I am only able to use Skytel service. That means you can't price shop for service at all. You are limited to whichever company your module is preprogrammed for. Hopefully this is some useful information if your considering buying one. It only costs about [money]/month for email service on your PDA which is a pretty good deal, considering I can use my email service pretty much where ever I like.

The Glenayre @ctiveLink is supposed to be a great wireless module, but has been unavailable as a standalone for weeks! I see no reason why the module should be unavailable while the Visor Deluxe bundle is always available.

Fax 56K V.92 USB Modem Ext To RJ11 Adapter

Fax 56K V.92 USB Modem Ext To RJ11 Adapter
  • 42

I just received this modem and gave it a try. People like me who require a dial-up modem -whether because broadband is too expensive, or just plain unavailable -have it rough when it comes to using the Internet. With built-in modems (and serial ports for old-fashioned external modems) becoming more and more rare in pre-configured desktop systems and laptops, the need for external USB modems (such as this item) will continue to exist, as long as broadband remains expensive and unavailable in some regions.

This is a good modem for those using Windows. With Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 3, the modem was detected without a hitch; however, the included driver CD was required to complete the modem installation. You can also download the drivers using a computer already connected to the Internet, and transfer the file to the computer for which you are setting up this modem.

With Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit), installation is more plug-and-play. Just plug the modem in, wait for Device Manager to automatically set the modem up, and that's it -no installation CD required, no fuss.

Speed with XP and Win7 matches the best I've gotten with a dial-up modem (28.8kbps is my top speed with this phone line, and I get that speed with this modem as well).

As for Linux (Ubuntu 10.04, 32-bit), things didn't go so well. The driver was not detected at all (which was no surprise to me, as in the Windows setups the word "SoftModem" came up -not good for Linux machines), and the modem was useless.

The indicator lights on the modem baffle me. There are two lights -a "power" light, and an "online" light. While idle and unconnected to the Internet, the power light remains lit... constantly. When connected to the Web, the online light stays lit at all times. The power light serves as a data-transmission indicator... or so it seems. The thing is, the light blinks when there's data passing through, sometimes it is lit solid when there's data passing through. When there is no data passing through, the light my blink, or it may just stay lit. Sometimes it blinks slowly, sometimes quickly. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the indicator, so I tend to keep an eye on my modem activity via the taskbar and connection status applet.

One interesting thing to note about this modem is that it comes with a retracting phone cable. I'm used to getting plain-Jane phone cords with modems, so having one around the house available that's a snap-back is nice.

Another (more important) note: The install CD that comes with the modem is a mini CD, so it is too small to use in most standard optical drives -you will need one with a spindle that "grabs" discs. I would be afraid to use it in a "floating" tray-load drive. It absolutely will not work in your standard slot-load drives. If in doubt, get the drivers now, load them onto a cheap flash drive, and have that ready when it comes time to install.

Overall, I give this modem a mild recommendation. The price is OK -you could get a USB hardware modem that works with Linux for about this price. There really is nothing "special" about this item, but it works with Windows XP and Windows 7 with no headaches. Whether it is built to last remains to be seen. I'll update this review somewhere down the line and let you know if and when it finally gives up the ghost. The device touts a 5-year limited warranty, but we'll see (I don't have a lot of faith in warranties).

The modem worked perfectly. The operating system automatically recognized the modem once I put it in the USB drive. Haven't had issues with the modem...wish I could say that about my dial up provider.

I have an iMac 10.6.

The (mini) install CD would not fit in the drive. I had to download the drivers/software from their website.

The drivers/software crashed my computer: causing a startup freeze.

I had to erase the hard drive and reinstall the system.

It is not listed ANYWHERE that the software is NOT 10.6 compatible; not even in the owner's manual. In fact, some of the websites list it as 10.4 and up. I did not find out until I contacted the product tech support that it is only 10.4/10.5 compatible.

So warning to all: Not Mac 10.6 compatible!

I have a program "pc anywhere" that connects office comp to home comp through landline phone cable. Both computers were older. When my home pc failed I had trouble getting a laptop with an internal cable modem. Rather than have to get a whole new program, this external adapter has worked great. The only problem is if I disconnect the adapter, I have to reload the program software again to recognize the adapter..so I don't unplug it.

Targus CH036 Leather Wallet

Targus CH036 Leather Wallet
  • Wallet-style case
  • Self-locking closure
  • 3 5.6-inch card pockets
  • Full-grain leather exterior
  • Lifetime warranty

The Targus is a very well designed wallet style case for the Palm III series. Unlike the Palm brand, this one has two velcro patches that hold your machine very securely. In addition, it is closed by a belt loop type strap, not velcro which makes noise when opened or a snap which can crack your display if closed too hard. The quality of the leather appears first rate and the stiching seems secure. Overall, a very good choice that protects unobtrusively.

Buy Targus CH036 Leather Wallet Now

Overall I would say that the Targus case is an excellent unit. It holds my Palm III in securely, and has a full-length slot in addition to three credit card slots. The unit I purchased even came with a free business card holder. However, it does have one fairly major design flaw. They elastic band stylus holder is sewn in such a way that the stylus hits the edge of the Palm when the case is closed. This could easily be prevented by placing the stylus holder in the fold of the case like Palm's version, but this one is sewn to the edge of the credit card holder, about 1/2" in from the center of the fold. Right now I am forced to place my stylus in the holder on my Palm instead of the one on the Targus case. Other than that, this is a mighty fine case!

Read Best Reviews of Targus CH036 Leather Wallet Here

The targus is OK but two problems present themselves immediately One: putting credit cards or other plastic in the card holders may scratch that expensive screen.

Two: The leather is handsome but the whole thing definitely becomes too bulky for your pocket. If you are a girl with a purse, that's not a problem. For the rest of us, it is!

I do like that little matching card holder though it beats a normal wallet if you don't carry too much. I gave the Targus to my fiancee and kept the small card holder. Maybe I'll get one of those metal holders for my palm instead.

Want Targus CH036 Leather Wallet Discount?

The case itself looks and feels nice, especially for the price. Nice if you are left handed but I find myself always wanting to unclasp the leather strap with my right hand and when you do this it opens upside down. It's just kind of annoying. Perhaps that's why this one is so [inexpensive], I don't know.

Handspring Visor Pro (Silver)

Handspring Visor Pro
  • Features 16 MB of memory and internal rechargeable battery
  • Built-in address book, to-do list, memo pad, date book, advanced calculator, silent alarm, and world clock
  • Use expansion slot to turn the Visor Pro into an MP3 player, modem, GPS receiver, and more with optional Springboard modules
  • Runs Palm operating system works with thousands of Palm OS applications
  • Visor Pro, USB HotSync cradle, 16 MB RAM, AC power adapter

They used to say in the Apple vs IBM wars, think about the software and then pick your computer. It's the same in Palm vs CE devices.

I'm a RN so I wanted at least a decent Rx database. Now that there is the Davis Drug Guide for the palm I couldn't resist. And there are loads of apps for the palm (check out palmgear.com). The palm has a big user base so most of the plentiful apps are either very cheap or free.

Palm devices are up against the wall though, since the standard 8MB is laughable for anyone wanting more than an address and date book. I like having all my personal info but the Handspring Pro comes with 16MB letting you get down to business, so to speak. I loaded it with lots of apps: Davis Rx, ePocarates Rx, and other medical stuff like ACLS, gtt calculators, lab values... and I even threw in Froggie in case I get some free time =)

I am at 13.5MB with all the medical apps, as well as, noah's dictionary and thesaurus, and hope that I will not exhaust the remaining limit.

Color would be nice! I would not get a color Palm device though. Especially since they don't have any with >8MB. If you are going all the way (with your money) and don't mind the size, a CE device may be ideal.

The Handspring Pro is great for carrying in the front pocket of your scrubs, with all the med information you could dream of moments away. It is easy to use. Long battery life. Seems durable. Hope this helps =)

Buy Handspring Visor Pro (Silver) Now

I have been an avid iPaq user for about a year now. And while WIN CE can be a bit quirky at times, lets face it, iPaq's color screen and agility between applications makes up for Microsoft's shortcomings. However, about 3 months ago, I lost the "partnership" (the connection between the iPaq and the PC) and despite countless attempts to reconnect (by myself and a hired IT consultant), we never could reconnect. (Phone calls to CPQ and MSFT were fruitless.)

Because I really needed a device to handle PIM duties, I began reading the reviews (...) for Palm and Handspring. I had heard good things about the Visor products but had yet to experience them (long ago, I owned a Palm III...less than satisfied). After much trepidation, I took the leap on the Visor Pro. The final feature selling me on the Pro was the resident memory (16 MB) and the ability to extend through add-ons.

Since I've had the Pro, I must report, first and foremost (to me at least!), I've had ZERO connection issues. Synchronization has been flawless and beautiful. Beyond that, the Pro has all the necessary functions for the manager or executive on the go plus many, many more via download shareware. Additionally, perhipheral add-ons can turn your Pro into a phone, internet browser and Pocket PC without much sweat. The losses compared to the iPaq? I must be honest, all the touting of being able to create/manipulate Excel spreadsheets or Word documents (via the iPaq) is grossly overhyped. Yes, the availability is nice but who in their right mind is going to create any document/spreadsheet on a handheld-size screen? My only complaint is the screen. With a B&W screen, one can expect issues with light, hue, and contrast. However, after getting very comfortable with a color screen, moving back to B&W/monochrome is a tough move. I'll adapt, however, as Pro's other features make this a top-notch product.

For the money, Pro is my choice. I plan to purchase one for my partner and one for each of my mid-level managers (affordability is another incredibly nice feature of Pro). I'm actually thinking of getting a Pro for each of my teenagers. What a great device to get in control of the mundane as well as important aspects of your life.

Read Best Reviews of Handspring Visor Pro (Silver) Here

As an avid Palm user, I got lucky to play with the Visor Pro a couple weeks back and have to say, if I were to purchase almost ANY PDA on the market today, this is the model I'd probably go with. When you consider price (and who doesn't?), expandability, accessories and a built-in memory of 16MB (SIXTEEN MEGABYTES???) there simply isn't a handheld product on the market today (that I am aware of) that can touch the Visor Pro.

I remember when my friend first purchased his original Palm about 4 years ago, and with 2MB I thought, there is NO WAY he'll ever have need for more room than that...little did I realize how useful these little guys can be. As far as organizing your life, a Palm device is almost invaluable -but they can be so much more. With a little patience, you can find free programs on the web to download that you just simply couldn't live without. Everything from maps to games...plus let's not forget the Springboard additions that truly make this PDA something special and a real honest-to-goodness cut above the rest. What really sets the Visor Pro apart from the vast (and growing) competition out there is it comes with 16MB of memory BUILT IN. No need to purchase more right off...this little guy has about TWICE what the *other* guys come with standard. Pretty impressive when you consider the price of this baby. Plus if you need more, the expansion abilities make this one of (if not THE most) versatile PDA's on the market today.

I am still sold on my little Palm M125, don't get me wrong, but for the price of just one single expansion card, I could buy the Visor Pro outright. Food for thought when you plan on making that jump to a handheld PDA that truly lives up to it's billing as an electronic device you simply cannot live without.

Want Handspring Visor Pro (Silver) Discount?

this is a great pda! so much memory to hold all the files and applications i downloaded from the net. the visor line and Palm OS devices have so many free/low cost software available on the internet. i was able to download approximately 30 different applications and photos on my pda and still have 10 MB room to spare. if you're looking for a pda. consider this one!!

i always wondered the usefulness of PDAs. now, i'm hooked. i use this to take notes during meetings and school work using the BugMe! program. Use Silverscreen to manage the content of the PDA. Downloaded a variety of games tetris, chess, zapit, space invaders (to name a few). manage my stocks. keep up to date with the news with AvantGo, maintain addresses of people i need to contact, calculator, scheduler for meetings, keep track of directions to whereever, expense logging, jot down ideas using IdeaPad, email, movie database, dictionary, and more!

i chose the visor pro because of its ability to use springboard modules and the large amount of memory. the large memory because i believe information is such an integral part of my day.

This unit is the best unit on the market for those who seek a B&W Palm device. The 16MB RAM coupled with the Springboard slot allows this unit to last for years to come. The Springboard has nearly a hundred modules available, where the others only have a handful. You don't have to pick and choose from your choice apps for only 8MB worth, you can keep them all on your device. Handspring continues to raise the bar for what a Palm device should be. Some people are concerned about the life of the Springboard, because Handspring's latest Treo does not have one plus the indicated that they would get out of the traditional PDA business (with includes the Visor brand). The fact remains as long as the Visor brands are out there, the developers will continue to make springboard add-ons. The developers make money off these add-ons, not Handspring.

RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-166-AP8U Ram Mount Suction Cup Base for the Apple iPad Car Windshield Mou

RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-166-AP8U Ram Mount Suction Cup Base for the Apple iPad Car Windshield Mount
  • Patented universal rubber ball and socket system allows you to mount virtually anything anywhere.
  • Made of marine grade aluminum with a powder coated finish and rubber balls
  • Superior shock and vibration isolation for electronics
  • Unique design provides easy installation, mobility, strength, adjustability and versatility
  • Construction provides a light weight and corrosion resistant product

INTRODUCTION

I've been using my iPhone 4 with a mount to an air vent, but wanted to finally use the iPad (1st gen) in the car but could not find any iPad mounts on Amazon with decent reviews. I finally did a generalized internet search and then discovered that the brand RAM was reviewed favorably by an outside review website.

Luckily, Amazon does sell the RAM iPad mount and it has exceeded my expectations.

PROS

1. Very strong suction mechanism The base of the suction is a rather strong, and large cylinder with a lever that one rotates to create a very powerful suction

2. Wide range of positioning possible in the 2 ball joints There is a ball joint at the suction and another one attached to the iPad cradle which allow a very wide range of positions.

3. Extremely strong locking mechanism for both ball joints There is a lock that one twists on the arm which will simultaneously lock the positions of both ball joints. The arm is made out of metal.

4. High quality plastic is used for the cradle/holster for the iPad which is very strong.

5. Fits iPad (1st generation) perfectly If you have an iPad 2, there are two small rubber bumpers which you apply to the cradle/holster to allow for the thinner iPad 2 to fit.

CONS

1. You have to attach the cradle/holster to the arm with 4 screws and locking nuts (which are supplied) which took a little more effort than I expected. 1 of the locking nuts had a defect.

2. The arm is not long, which is reasonable considering the weight of an iPad, but it results in having your iPad close to your windshield. This may not sound like a significant problem, but it results in having a large percentage of your needed visibility obscured by the iPad, which looks gigantic when attached to your windshield.

CONCLUSION

This iPad mount is pure quality and awesome in its strength of suction. The construction uses joints made out of some sturdy material and a metal arm with a great locking mechanism. I have used it without it falling and even attached it to the moonroof so that it displays near the car ceiling so that backseat passengers can use it.

The greatest negative, is that the arm is probably necessarily short, causing the iPad to block what seems like a shockingly large part of your visibility. I never realized how large the iPad is until I saw it blocking my vision. Think carefully about how large the iPad is and try positioning it in your car behind some part of the front windshield and ask yourself if you can really tolerate this before purchasing this mount.

Otherwise, this is an excellent, high quality mount that actually works in holding up a large and relatively heavy iPad.

I purchased this mount to use my iPad2 in my RV as both a digital road map and a GPS. This mount works great, my iPad2 fits perfect, safe and secure but still easy to remove if my wife needs it on her lap. As my windshield is high I also purchased a 3" RAM base mount to attach to my center console to place the iPad2 lower (and out of sight) and away from direct sunlight. This mount holds the iPad or iPad2 very securely with NO chance of it falling out in the event of speed bumps or a rough road. It allows me to swivel it from driver to passenger with no effort. If you have room for an iPad then you need this mount.

PS. Remember to REMOVE your iPad and place it out of sight EVERY time you exit your vehicle less you have a broken window and a missing iPad when you return. It only takes 30 seconds for a smash & grab and a $800 item is a very tempting target.

Besides wishing the extension arm was a little bit longer, this product is great. It securely holds my ipad, and makes it perfect for navigation and checking emails at red lights. MUST buy for anyone using their iPad in the car. I love it!

Want RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-166-AP8U Ram Mount Suction Cup Base for the Apple iPad Car Windshield Mou Discount?

I bought this product so that I could watch videos on my iPad when running on my treadmill. For my use, it works perfectly.

However, keep this in mind: You need to mount the suction cup to a very smooth surface if you expect it to hold solidly. As an experiment, I tried to mount it on my car's dashboard, which has a slightly textured surface. It had no chance of staying put.

Two other items you should be aware of before buying:

1. Plan to take off any type of iPad skin/case before using. The design tolerances of this product are extremely tight, which is why your iPad is held so solidly once it's in the mount. I have a Belkin skin for the iPad, which is really minimal in thickness. Even that needs to be peeled off before mounting.

2. Because of these tolerances, I would do my homework before buying this to use with an iPad 2. Don't assume it will fit. Find out for sure.

For the right application, this is probably the best mounting system your money can buy!!

Highly recommend this to anyone looking for an entertaining diversion from the stresses of life. It's fun to use the "poppers" to answer the questions too such a simple idea!

I recently purchased the Compaq Ipaq 3870 for personal organization purposes. I also have a Samsung Infuse android, which I purchased just last November, and honestly, so far I am enjoying the almost ancient Ipaq 3870 far more than the android. Being a teenager, I always wanted one of these as a little kid. My mother had a Palm Zire21, and I always admired that thing. I bought my 3870 really just for the heck of it, but never guessed that it would be as useful as it is. I like the fact that it is very similar to a pc interface, and the speed is amazing. I would deffinately suggest purchasing one if you are considering it. I think you will be truly amazed. It is a wonderful piece of equipment for the price, and I would take it over some $500-$700 android anyday.

M-Edge Microfiber Leather Incline Jacket for iPad 2, Exterior with Matching Nylon Trim, Foldable Des

M-Edge Microfiber Leather Incline Jacket for iPad 2, Exterior with Matching Nylon Trim, Foldable Design, Navy
  • Foldable design offers 5 different landscape stand positions - low typing position, upright entertainment position, vertical FaceTime position and two low angle positions for optimum typing versatility and comfort
  • Open portal allows use of the iPad's rear-facing camera without removing device from jacket
  • Microfiber leather exterior with matching nylon trim
  • Soft microsuede interior keeps device screen protected and clean
  • M-Edge's snap-in, ultra-secure molded mounting system holds iPad firmly in place

I purchased an Incline Jacket to go with my new iPad2. I love it (it was the only one in purple!) up to a point. The only way that I can have the back camera available for use, is to mount the iPad upside down. That's not good design.

While mounting the iPad upside down makes the camera available, it creates an awkward, non-intuitive interaction where I'm opening the jacket backwards to use my iPad. The M-EDGE product demonstration video (on the M-EDGE site) for the Incline Jacket is misleading. It attempts to show that mounting the iPad correctly will allow the camera to be available. A close look at the video shows the iPad has been remounted to the Incline Jacket upside down for the shot. Like I said, this is misleading.

Now, when I want to take a picture using the back camera, I have to completely remove the iPad from the Incline Jacket, take the picture, and then mount the iPad back into the jacket. Not at all an elegant process.

Apple has done their job to make the iPad2 a simple, clean, easy to use device. The Incline Jacket should be as equally easy to use.

I didn't buy this cover at Amazon because I found it on sale at a local store. I did purchase a cover made by a different company from Amazon and returned it because it was defective. I have a M Edge cover for my Kindle and I love it so when I saw the M Edge cover on sale I purchased it. I'm very glad I did. This cover is exactly what I was looking for. LIght weight and still gives my iPad great protection. The iPad snaps into the cover and the cover protects the corners. I doubt if I will ever need to take the iPad out of the cover. If you want to use the rear camera you need to mount the iPad upside down which another reviewer mentioned. I don't see that as a problem. The home button in on top when you open the cover but the only time I use the home button is to turn the iPad on. After it's on I use the screen gestures to go to home. The case looks and feels like real leather even though it's Microfiber and not real leather. It's very well made with no flaws in the stitching. If you want to use the stand to set your iPad on the table just flip the cover open and back and tuck it in. Very easy compared to some covers that make you pull out flaps and go through several steps to set it up. The only thing I would have liked to see different is the mounting method. My Kindle cover uses small straps on the corners and I prefer that to the plastic mounting system on the iPad cover but my iPad is very secure in this cover and like I said I doubt if I will ever need to take it out.

Radeon 4550 Pcie 512MB

The cooling fan on my original graphics card went bad and I had to buy another, so I thought I would upgrade a bit to another model. I was limited by my existing power supply, (300 watts), and this was the best one I could find to fit my 8 year old Dell Mini-Tower. It was borderline that my old sys could handle this card but customer support at Radeon assured me that it would be fine and it was. I was surprised how much more crisp videos and everything was with this new card. I don't do any gaming, so I can't comment on that. But this is a very good card and was inexpensive.

BoxWave Rio Carbon miniSync Retractable Cable

BoxWave Rio Carbon miniSync Retractable Cable
  • Now supports Hi-Speed USB 2.0 data transfers!
  • Synchronizes and charges just like the cradle
  • Innovative retraction and recoil design
  • Extends to 25 inches in length
  • Durable, compact, and lightweight

When I purchased the MiniSync for my Rio Carbon I was immediately impressed with how well constructed it seemed, as well as the beautiful functionality of the retractible cord and the fact that data transfer and charging could be attained through such a small, strong wire.

However, the cable soon proved to have inconsistent results with different USB ports, as my Carbon would not be detected by over half the computers I tried using this cable with. Add to that disappointment the fragility of the plastic surrounding the 'spindle' resulting in breakage preventing the cable from retracting and I can no longer recommend this product.

I didn't discover these flaws until the 100-day warranty had expired, and the best BoxWave would do to help me was give me a 25% off coupon towards the purchase of another MiniSync cable. It's possible they've improved their design by now.

I just recieved my brandnew 256mb SD memory card from newegg a few hours ago. It came in factory packaging and I know is brand new. Immidiatly upon putting it in my card reader it said "card read error" I have put it in serveral other computers and cameras in an attempt to format it, this card is shot and i JUST GOT IT. This is not the first PNY 256 to do this to me, i gave one away previously in frustrastion thinking it was my computer, it was not. I tried to call there tech support but at first it gave me only the option of where to buy their products when i called again it was closed and offered no info on SD memory. I went online and looked for support for SD but wouldn't you know they don't have any FAQs on it. I tried to write them an email on it but there mail server crashed and my 10 minutes of typing to there tech support was in vein. I have read that many others have recieved cards that didn't work when they got them or failed after 1 or 2 erase cycles. IN SHORT don't by PNY, spend the extra money and get something that will work, if it doesn't work i don't think tech support will help you, if you want to roll the dice and take a chance and something that probably wont work than PNY is for you. If you don't believe me call their tech support 18002344597, you try to ask them about there fine SD memory, go to their website to, see what they have to say about there fine products, spend the 5 minutes to look into it before buying it on impulse

I bought this SD Card on sale thinking I'd just saved a couple bucks, but unfortunately had $3,000 worth of equipment crash because of it. The very first time I used it, it crashed my computer and broke my camera. After taking the pics I wanted, I inserted it into my computer, which instantly started acting strange slowing down and not recognizing that there was a card inserted. So I tried to restart my computer and it wouldn't restart. I had to take it in to get it fixed, costing me $100 for the technician to tell me it was the SD card. Also, the camera I used it in, a Nikon D80 that I just bought 5 months ago, is now being shipped back to the manufacturer for repair after using this card, the display monitor wouldn't turn on and the camera wouldn't record any pictures on any of my other SD cards. Next time, I'll spend a little extra money to buy something of quality, especially when using it with my expensive equipment.

Easy to use one way to put into camera, one way to insert in docking station (most newer computers have a slot for memory cards). Good quality results.

I had this card for more than 6 months, and It worked super in my Canon Powershot A510. Transfers went well too. Then all of a sudden for no reason I kept getting "card error" on my computer and digital camera a week ago. My SD/USB converter couldn't find the card either. I had really good photos I wanted to transfer to my computer and now they are probably lost for good. What a joke.

JAVOedge Cherry Blossom Flip Case for the Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Simple Touch Reader / with Glow

JAVOedge Cherry Blossom Flip Case for the Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Simple Touch Reader / with GlowLight - Latest GenerationThis is a great case for the Nook Simple Touch. The fabric is even prettier than the picture and adds just the right amount of padding. It fits snugly. The magnetic closures work well to keep everything in place when not in use. The only reason for less than 5 stars is the buttons to turn pages are a little difficult if not impossible to use since some of the trim is in the way. If you usually use the touch screen for page turning, you won't have any complaints. All in all, a good quality choice!

I needed a case for my Nook but struggled with all of the boring styles. This one does just what I want it to do! It is funky, yet functional! I love that I can prop it up and read it, if I need to. I love the design so much that I am looking at a cover in the same for another electronic device I have. It meets my needs for my Nook, and I couldn't be happier!

I got this Nook case for my fiance and she loves it. (She picked it out, so don't get too excited about my awesome taste.) The cover looks great, feels great and works great.

I love, love, love this case. It fits my nook perfectly! I also love the stand and how it does not have any clips to fasten or unfasten. It used little magnets to hold the front cover and the back stand. This cover also makes holding the nook a little more comfortable. Yipee! I am so happy, this is exactly what I wanted.

I have had this board for about 2 weeks now and my PC runs almost 24/7. I don't have issues with the MB but the manual needs work. The manual you get has the old style BIOS in it and the BIOS that comes with the board you can use the mouse and all the items in the setup are not where the manual says they are. They need to update the booklet. Also if you put your fans on auto control you have to have the minimum CPU fan speed at 12.5% or it will never turn the CPU fan on at all, something they neglected to put in the manual also. Besides the manual issues this is what I expected from MSI, a solidly build MB.

My first impression of this board is the build quality is good, it has 8+2 VRM for core voltage regulation, and components are good quality. The bad part is the BIOS is really bad, the GUI interface looks like something comes out of the early 90s, if you ever try to enable CPU Core Unlock function within the OC BIOS menu, you will get into a boot infinity loop, you reboot the system and it will come to the BIOS set up screen without you even ask for it, the only way out is to disable the CPU Core Unlock function, but the purpose of it is for you to select your own CPU multiplier, go figure this one out, I can't.

My feeling of this board is hardware people (MSI) is trying to do software (BIOS), does not work very well. Board performance is OK, I run Prim 95 for 3 hours without any problem.

7-6-2012

After I contacted MSI tech support, they are very responsive and even provide me a beta BIOS to try out, it fixed my problem, I will add back one star for responsiveness, but I still think their BIOS is not up to par compare with the other offerings, MSI board is good though, I have no complaint of its quality. If you are not going to put it to heavy pace and overclock using BIOS, this is a good product for you.

September 1, 2012 3 month update

Motherboard is running fine, no problem encountered.

March 27, 2013

Board is still running great, I think MSI's logo of military grade components are not just for marketing show purpose, upgrade CPU to AMD 8350 8 cores, BIOS upgraded to support the CPU, upgrade utility is really nice, you can upgrade from within the Windows 8, do not have to boot to external media.

I bought this board and installed a Phenom II x4 965 and Kingston HyperX 16GB 1600MHz RAM. I had to hard set the RAM settings to get it to work at 1600MHz. The 965 was overclocked to 4GHz pretty easily and running full load at around 50C with a Hyper 212+ cooler.

Pros:

1. Price

2. Can OC easily

Cons:

1. CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ sits horizontally so air flow is from bottom to top not forward to back. I couldn't figure out orientation setup out so I left it.

2. I do not like the GUI of the BIOS. Call me old school but I had a DFI LanParty and it looked more "command-line ish" which is simpler for me. It's personal preference really!!!

3. Only 1 PCI slot....again personal preference.

4. Boots up with Hex on the bottom right corner...it's annoying.

For a budget build, I cannot complain. All the parts work and do what they are supposed to.

Belkin Bluetooth PDA and PC Adapter Combo Card (F8T006-PC)

Belkin Bluetooth PDA and PC Adapter Combo Card
  • Adds Bluetooth wireless technology to your PDA or notebook computer
  • Offers built-in security using 128-bit encryption and authentication
  • Provides effortless wireless communication among computing devices and peripherals
  • Keeps your notebook or PDA batteries running longer
  • Works with any device enabled with Bluetooth v1.1 technology

I didn't do enough research on the product before I ordered it. It doesn't support the native Windows XP Blue Tooth drivers provided by Microsoft and the drivers provided by Belkin are not 100% compatible with some of the newer Bluetooth devices available. The only way to get it to work at all is to run the full install from the Belkin CD and it disables the Windows Bluetooth services and replaces them with Belkin services rather than just providing a driver that works with the native windows Bluetooth services. This is most likely because this device has been around since before Microsoft released support for Bluetooth technology. It would be nice if Belkin released an updated driver but they haven't..

I am using my laptop more and more on the road and with that, I am starting to use more things that are attached to the unit. The one thing I've consistantly used is the first generation Delorme Earthmate GPS unit. It attached to the laptop via a serial connector. While it was always a reliable performer, Delorme came out with a new unit that ran by either a USB connection or with a self-powered Bluetooth adapter. (Since that time, they've come out with 2 new models; one is USB only and the other is a Bluetooth unit.) When I got my new unit, I was given a bluetooth adapter for it from my boss who tried to use it on his motorcycle with a Palm Tungsten. Unfortunately for him, the Palm screen could not be seen in bright daylight.

So in order to use it, I had to get a bluetooth adapter for the trusty 'ol laptop. Most of the add-on Bluetooth adapters connect via a USB port. Since I was going to use this in a car, I was most concerned about the laptop being moved around and either snapping the adapter off or even breaking it.

This Belkin adapter connects via the standard PC-Slots that are on almost all laptops. Because of that, the bulk of the adapter is inside the laptop. Only a small tab sticks out of the machine and in my opinion would be far lass prone to damage or disruption. The actual card is an elongated Compact Flash card and it comes with a Compact Flash to PC-Slot adapter. For me, this was an added benefit because my Canon EOS professional Digital Camera uses Compact Flash memory cards, so it can serve double duty for transferring my photos to the laptop and then running the Bluetooth adapter. Since most laptops have two PC-Slots, this adapter is very thin, so it could be left in the laptop while a second card (like a wireless card, USB2/Firewire adapter, etc.) occupies the other slot.

Intallation was very easy and straightforward. Once the device was installed and operating, it was very easy to connect my GPS unit to the laptop. This is one of those devices that does its things transparantly in the background and they either work or give you all sorts of fits. This devices does its job effortlessly and is almost invisible.

I found it to be a great device I'd reccomend and it was offered at a great price that made it even more a sensational value to me. I would highly reccomend this to anyone that needs to add Bluetooth to their Windows-only Laptop.

I have thought about Bluetooth accessories for a year or so, but this is my first venture. I installed it on a Dell XPS laptop according to directions, and have had no problems with it. The only device I'm currently running is a mouse, and the setup and operation has been smooth and problem-free. My only gripe is that the card sticks out about 1/2" from the side of my laptop. I think that's an unavoidable problem with any card in the slot, however, and it hasn't been a problem.

I bought this item from Amazon.com about 4 month ago. Driver is installed easily and works fine. But, speed of data transfer and mouse response is very SLOW!!! Transfer rate is under 1/4 than another USB bluetooth dongle, and I cannot enjoy games with bluetooth mouse because mouse cannot follow my action and is inaccurate. I think this is not recommendable for expert users.

I have a Belkin Bluetooth GPS receiver that works seamlessly with my PDA. Hoping to get it connected to my laptop also, I came to search for solution. The Belkin PC card looks better than its USB rivals as it snugs firmly in the laptop. The USB adapters are prone to fall apart when the laptop is taken around.

The installation is a little bit tedious. You have to follow the procedure in the manual carefully. To make it work with the GPS , you need to ask the software to search and match the ID. It's not so intuitive. You may get confused if you have no idea about how Bluetooth devices work together. I think that's one of the reasons why the Bluetooth is still not really popular even though the technology has been around for many years. You cannot just plug and play.

Once the connection is up and running, it works smoothly without hiccup.
