Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter - Version 4.0 (Newest Bluetooth Version Available) Class 2 Smart Rea

Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter - Version 4.0 Class 2 Smart Ready Adapter w/ Low Energy Technology - Windows 7 32/64 CompatibleI had an issue on Windows 7 with Control Panel/Devices not loading, and not finding any bluetooth devices. But I found a fix.

I'm an advanced computer user who does a lot of work with computers, so I know how to get around a computer and get it to do what I want.

This device comes in a small box, which is actually quite decent looking for a device this small (I didn't really expect a box even). My previous adapter was a generic one that was super cheap, but it worked. Unfortunately, BlueSoleil (software controls for bluetooth) only got me so far with it and it did not work with my new bluetooth headphones (Nokia BH-905i), so I bought this.

The instructions are easy to follow, and the BEST part about them is that they are in grammatically correct English! That's a novelty these days. The adapter does fit really snugly into your port, so make a good decision as you probably won't get this out without a good yank. It has a blue glow that blinks when in use (slowly), so make sure it's out of sight if you work in low light.

It comes with 2 mini CD's with drivers for 7/Vista and XP. It uses the WIDCOMM stack, and took about 15 minutes to install (which is unusually long).

If your control panel/devices and printers is locking up (Windows Vista/7), here is a solution that seems to work for most people:

I am not sure if it was due to using BlueSoleil (I had a generic adapter that died after like 4 years of use; BlueSoleil is a different 'bluetooth stack') in the past, but I don't really want to go back and check. The issue is that when you do get all the drivers installed, when you go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound, it totally locks up and shows nothing (Looks like its loading, but never finishes). You also can't add any devices. This is because the "Bluetooth Support Service" is disabled. I don't know why it is disabled. To enable it (and add devices/view any devices (wired/wireless)), go to start, type in 'services.msc' and open the result of the same name. Find "Bluetooth Support Service". Right click it, go to properties, and set the startup type to "Automatic", and click Apply/OK. Then right click the item again and click "Start". Now your menus should load.

I like it, and once I have bluetooth 3.0 devices, I'll like it even more.

Cheers!

First, let me tell you that I am a very senior citizen, no techie for sure. This is my first experience with Bluetooth technology, and it couldn't be a more satisfying one. Installing my Medialink USB Adapter could not have been easier. I'm using Windows 7 operating system. I simply followed the directions provided with my purchase. I inserted the the mini-disc and was imediately instructed to insert the USB Adapter into the USB port. Presto! Bluetooth was up and running. I then went to the Hardware and Sound Section in my control panel and set the sound default to Bluetooth. I can now get up and move about with out missing a word. The sound quality is terrific, and I am extremely hearing impaired. I love this product. You will too.

This little Bluetooth dongle was so easy to install and use. No issues at all. I have my mouse, headphones and Droid all linked to it now. I've been considering buying a second one for our desktop computer so my husband can use the headphones for gaming. Lack of Bluetooth connectivity was one thing that disappointed me about my new laptop, but this little chip solved that problem for very little money. Don't waste your money on a cheap one that may or may not work, just spend a little more and get this one.

In a few months, most distros should have the patch to the Linux kernel driver that makes this a friendly, no-hassle plug-and-play experience. That's when I'd give this product a full 5 stars.

Else, if needed, just create a file /etc/modprobe.d/medialink-btusb.conf and put this one line in it:

install usb:v0A5Cp21E8d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* /sbin/modprobe btusb; echo 0a5c 21e8 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/btusb/new_id

Detailed explanation: This device is handled just fine by the stock btusb kernel module. The issue is that the driver does not recognize the exact USB vendor/product ID. However, the driver was fixed just a few weeks ago. It'll just take a little time for your favorite Linux distro update to pick up the fix.

I consider myself fairly computer-savvy, and following about 3 hours of attempts to install this adapter onto my Windows7 machine, I've had no luck at getting it to function properly; I've been unable to "discover" the existence of either of the 2 Bluetooth devices that I own. I tried installing the adapter to see if I'd have luck with my laptop, which runs Windows XP Professional, and it installed with no trouble whatsoever(including discovering my Bluetooth devices). For my Windows7 machine I've tried the drivers that come on the Medialink-supplied (WindowsVista/7) mini-CD, the drivers at MediaLink's website (), and the drivers from the Broadcom.com website, all to no avail.

8/14/11 update: I've given-up on this adapter, and tried another (Cirago BTA-6130 together with drivers downloaded from Cirago's website) that is working for me.

Handspring Visor Pro (Silver)

Handspring Visor Pro
  • Features 16 MB of memory and internal rechargeable battery
  • Built-in address book, to-do list, memo pad, date book, advanced calculator, silent alarm, and world clock
  • Use expansion slot to turn the Visor Pro into an MP3 player, modem, GPS receiver, and more with optional Springboard modules
  • Runs Palm operating system works with thousands of Palm OS applications
  • Visor Pro, USB HotSync cradle, 16 MB RAM, AC power adapter

They used to say in the Apple vs IBM wars, think about the software and then pick your computer. It's the same in Palm vs CE devices.

I'm a RN so I wanted at least a decent Rx database. Now that there is the Davis Drug Guide for the palm I couldn't resist. And there are loads of apps for the palm (check out palmgear.com). The palm has a big user base so most of the plentiful apps are either very cheap or free.

Palm devices are up against the wall though, since the standard 8MB is laughable for anyone wanting more than an address and date book. I like having all my personal info but the Handspring Pro comes with 16MB letting you get down to business, so to speak. I loaded it with lots of apps: Davis Rx, ePocarates Rx, and other medical stuff like ACLS, gtt calculators, lab values... and I even threw in Froggie in case I get some free time =)

I am at 13.5MB with all the medical apps, as well as, noah's dictionary and thesaurus, and hope that I will not exhaust the remaining limit.

Color would be nice! I would not get a color Palm device though. Especially since they don't have any with >8MB. If you are going all the way (with your money) and don't mind the size, a CE device may be ideal.

The Handspring Pro is great for carrying in the front pocket of your scrubs, with all the med information you could dream of moments away. It is easy to use. Long battery life. Seems durable. Hope this helps =)

Buy Handspring Visor Pro (Silver) Now

I have been an avid iPaq user for about a year now. And while WIN CE can be a bit quirky at times, lets face it, iPaq's color screen and agility between applications makes up for Microsoft's shortcomings. However, about 3 months ago, I lost the "partnership" (the connection between the iPaq and the PC) and despite countless attempts to reconnect (by myself and a hired IT consultant), we never could reconnect. (Phone calls to CPQ and MSFT were fruitless.)

Because I really needed a device to handle PIM duties, I began reading the reviews (...) for Palm and Handspring. I had heard good things about the Visor products but had yet to experience them (long ago, I owned a Palm III...less than satisfied). After much trepidation, I took the leap on the Visor Pro. The final feature selling me on the Pro was the resident memory (16 MB) and the ability to extend through add-ons.

Since I've had the Pro, I must report, first and foremost (to me at least!), I've had ZERO connection issues. Synchronization has been flawless and beautiful. Beyond that, the Pro has all the necessary functions for the manager or executive on the go plus many, many more via download shareware. Additionally, perhipheral add-ons can turn your Pro into a phone, internet browser and Pocket PC without much sweat. The losses compared to the iPaq? I must be honest, all the touting of being able to create/manipulate Excel spreadsheets or Word documents (via the iPaq) is grossly overhyped. Yes, the availability is nice but who in their right mind is going to create any document/spreadsheet on a handheld-size screen? My only complaint is the screen. With a B&W screen, one can expect issues with light, hue, and contrast. However, after getting very comfortable with a color screen, moving back to B&W/monochrome is a tough move. I'll adapt, however, as Pro's other features make this a top-notch product.

For the money, Pro is my choice. I plan to purchase one for my partner and one for each of my mid-level managers (affordability is another incredibly nice feature of Pro). I'm actually thinking of getting a Pro for each of my teenagers. What a great device to get in control of the mundane as well as important aspects of your life.

As an avid Palm user, I got lucky to play with the Visor Pro a couple weeks back and have to say, if I were to purchase almost ANY PDA on the market today, this is the model I'd probably go with. When you consider price (and who doesn't?), expandability, accessories and a built-in memory of 16MB (SIXTEEN MEGABYTES???) there simply isn't a handheld product on the market today (that I am aware of) that can touch the Visor Pro.

I remember when my friend first purchased his original Palm about 4 years ago, and with 2MB I thought, there is NO WAY he'll ever have need for more room than that...little did I realize how useful these little guys can be. As far as organizing your life, a Palm device is almost invaluable -but they can be so much more. With a little patience, you can find free programs on the web to download that you just simply couldn't live without. Everything from maps to games...plus let's not forget the Springboard additions that truly make this PDA something special and a real honest-to-goodness cut above the rest. What really sets the Visor Pro apart from the vast (and growing) competition out there is it comes with 16MB of memory BUILT IN. No need to purchase more right off...this little guy has about TWICE what the *other* guys come with standard. Pretty impressive when you consider the price of this baby. Plus if you need more, the expansion abilities make this one of (if not THE most) versatile PDA's on the market today.

I am still sold on my little Palm M125, don't get me wrong, but for the price of just one single expansion card, I could buy the Visor Pro outright. Food for thought when you plan on making that jump to a handheld PDA that truly lives up to it's billing as an electronic device you simply cannot live without.

Want Handspring Visor Pro (Silver) Discount?

this is a great pda! so much memory to hold all the files and applications i downloaded from the net. the visor line and Palm OS devices have so many free/low cost software available on the internet. i was able to download approximately 30 different applications and photos on my pda and still have 10 MB room to spare. if you're looking for a pda. consider this one!!

i always wondered the usefulness of PDAs. now, i'm hooked. i use this to take notes during meetings and school work using the BugMe! program. Use Silverscreen to manage the content of the PDA. Downloaded a variety of games tetris, chess, zapit, space invaders (to name a few). manage my stocks. keep up to date with the news with AvantGo, maintain addresses of people i need to contact, calculator, scheduler for meetings, keep track of directions to whereever, expense logging, jot down ideas using IdeaPad, email, movie database, dictionary, and more!

i chose the visor pro because of its ability to use springboard modules and the large amount of memory. the large memory because i believe information is such an integral part of my day.

This unit is the best unit on the market for those who seek a B&W Palm device. The 16MB RAM coupled with the Springboard slot allows this unit to last for years to come. The Springboard has nearly a hundred modules available, where the others only have a handful. You don't have to pick and choose from your choice apps for only 8MB worth, you can keep them all on your device. Handspring continues to raise the bar for what a Palm device should be. Some people are concerned about the life of the Springboard, because Handspring's latest Treo does not have one plus the indicated that they would get out of the traditional PDA business (with includes the Visor brand). The fact remains as long as the Visor brands are out there, the developers will continue to make springboard add-ons. The developers make money off these add-ons, not Handspring.

HP iPAQ rz1710 Pocket PC PDA 203MHz 25MB SD/MMC Windows Mobile 2003 FA289A

HP iPAQ rz1710 Pocket PC PDA 203MHz 25MB SD/MMC Windows Mobile 2003 FA289A
  • HP iPAQ Pocket PC rz1710 - Handheld - Windows Mobile 2003 SE - S3C2410 203 MHz - RAM: 32 MB - ROM: 32 MB - 3.5" color TFT ( 240 x 320 ) - IrDA

This PDA is designed for people who wish to use it for basic tasks that pda's are intended for such as editing documents taking notes, and organizing your life. It also has the ability to be an mp3 player and a video device with the addition of an sd memory card (inexpensive on ebay).

While it does have a smaller amount of memory then some other PDA's you have to remember it is an entry level device designed for what was mentioned above. Other devices cost hundreds of dollars so you are getting a basic PDA for a low price as opposed to a $300 PDA with more memory and capabilities such as wi-fi

That being said you can add those capabilities to this PDA. Blue tooth and wi-fi cards can be added and sd cards for increased memory. This PDA can also run all basic applications and some of the more tasking ones including games such as age of empires.

The HP iPAQ Pocket pc rz1710 is a good buy for the first time pocket pc user. The built in applications are very usefull for managing your day to day activities. Furthermore its screen resolution is great for the price. However it does not come with bluetooth or wifi which severely limits its ability to connect to other modern gadgets or the internet. In addition its low internal RAM prevents it from running many third party applications. In summary, If you are looking for basic functionality to help organise your activities, this product is for you.If you need more than that a higher end product is what you should be looking for.

Asante FH205P 5-Port Palmtop Dual-Speed 10/100 Hub

Asante FH205P 5-Port Palmtop Dual-Speed 10/100 HubI bought the Asante FH205P a year ago. This palm sized network hub is without a doubt the easiest, most reliable dual-speed (10/100) networking hub I've used. The hub includes 5 10/100 client ports and 1 additional crossover uplink port for connecting into an additional hub or switch. This hub supports auto-negotiation allowing users to install 10mbps network devices or 100mbps devices and the hub auto-negotiates to the fastest supported speed (bandwidth) for the device being plugged in.

This palm sized device has been running 24 hours per day for over one year supporting several computers and printers in a home business environment. Not only is it simple "plug and play" networking, the unit size allows for inconspicuous placement with all the network cables routed out the back away from sight. I highly recommend this product as a first choice if your needs are dual-speed networking for 5 devices.

The "plug and play" design of the FH205P hub makes set-up and connection to your PCs, Macintosh, UNIX servers and another hub or switch as simple as 'plug it in' and you're up and running. Nice product!

Texas Instruments 94327 Ti Graphlink USB

Texas Instruments 94327 Ti Graphlink USB
  • Enables software downloads and updates from the internet
  • Lets you store programs and data on your computer
  • Includes TI Connect Software CD and TI Connectivity Cable
  • Compatible with TI-73 Explorer, TI-83, TI-89, TI-92, and Voyage 200

Because it is USB, it does not work eith TI-Graphlink software. Don't get me wrong the Graphlink software isn't great, but it is much more powerful than TI Connect. Plus you can use both TI Connect and TI-Graphlink software with the serial cables. The graph link software is rather clunky, but much more reliable than ti connect.

Buy Texas Instruments 94327 Ti Graphlink USB Now

I saw the previous post regarding a customer who stated he had no problem using this cable with his TI-86. I was hesitant because he didn't state which operating system he was using. I can now confirm that this cable will work with Windows XP. Make sure to use the TI-Connect software and NOT the TI-Graphlink software! VERY IMPORTANT as only the TI-Connect software supports the TI-86 via the USB connection option. Make sure to download the latest version from the Texas Instruments (TI) website. As of 29 January 2007, the latest TI-Connect software version is 1.6. And you must have the Microsoft .NET Framework Windows Updates installed prior to installing the TI-Connect software. Last, but not least make sure you have the calculator turned on before connecting the USB cable to your computer!

It took Texas Instruments long enough to add support for the TI-86 to its TI-Connect software! I guess I can't complain as they did finally listen to their customer's complaints. Goodluck with whatever math course you have waiting ahead of you!

This is a good product, but the info on the page is wrong. It supports most TI Calculators for Mac but only,83,89, and 92 for windows based pc. I have a TI-86 and it will not work on my pc.

For TI-86 and 82 you need to order the serial cable instead of the usb.

Want Texas Instruments 94327 Ti Graphlink USB Discount?

The TI-89 is a great calculator but doesn't have some probability distribution software built in. This includes the binompdf and poissonpdf functions that are readily available on a stock TI-83+. (This applies to the original, black TI-89; not sure if the TI-89 Titanium has these installed standard or not)

Serial ports are nonexistant on Macs so you need this if you have one. Some people who wrote early reviews noted that the software didn't completely work with the calculators. With the TI-84 and other new calculators released last year an update of the graph link software was obviously needed, and I am willing to bet my old Mac Plus that it was tweaked to work smoother.

To my knowledge this supports every TI graphing calculator. This cable has come down significantly in price over the past four years and is worth buying over the serial one now.

They say it won't work with the TI-86, but it worked fine for me. Was able to access and download/upload files to my calculator no problemo.

rooCASE Super Bubble Neoprene Sleeve Case for Apple MacBook Air MC233LL/A MC234LL/A 13.3-Inch LaptopI bought this to protect my macbook air and so far it has worked very well. It has large bubbles inside that insulate and protect the computer. It also has a pocket on the outside that can fit the cords. The only downside is that it does not have a handle or strap for people who would like to carry it more conveniently. But its a great color and its done its job for a cheap price!

This case is very protective with the large neoprene bubbles inside, smooth material, very strong and well made. It would be more than perfect if it had a handle but that is difficult to find. Fits my Macbook air 13 inch well with just a little bit of extra room. I keep the charger in the front zipper pocket and that's quite handy. Definitely recommend this sleeve.

Palm M500 Series Pda Keyboard

Palm M500 Series Pda Keyboard
  • 3-year warranty
  • Offers ergonomic design for reliable, uncomplicated productivity
  • Installs easily; drivers included
  • Connects instantly with Plug-and-Play convenience
  • Includes carrying case

I received this keyboard for Father's Day. The first one lasted two weeks. The second one lasted 1 day. The connector came loose on both keyboards. By reading the reveiws on the Palm keyboards, think I will be getting one of those.

Buy Palm M500 Series Pda Keyboard Now

This is one of two keyboards offered by Belkin. This one is bigger and offers four launch buttons for the major Palm applications (date, phone, to do and memo) which I never use. The keyboard unfolds into two sections which click together. It has a full row of numbers, but breaks the space bar 80/20, which I found to be somewhat inconvenient. The right shift key is also half-size and located out beyond the up/down navigation arrows which I often miss-hit, especially when typing quickly.

The PDA's placement towards the left side of the keyboard seems strange, but works fine in practice. The keyboard is fairly rigid when open, which is great for typing on one's lap like a notebook computer. But the entire unit is fairly large when folded and even larger if you use the padded case that comes with it. So, in total, this keyboard doesn't offer many advantages versus Palm's original (which is about the same size), other than the ability to type on one's lap.

Belkin's other model, the G700, is actually much better, (especially if you don't need the application launch buttons). It's smaller and sleeker, and offers the traditional convenience of a complete row of numbers.

If you're looking for a full-featured keyboard, the original Palm model is still better. And if you want something sleeker or more stylish, check out the Belkin G700 (also available from Amazon) or Palm's new ultrathin version which is definitely the "coolest" of them all!

Read Best Reviews of Palm M500 Series Pda Keyboard Here

A keyboard that's too big to be considered "mini" and too small to be comfortable. It's strange left-side cradle design accompanies it's cheap toy-like feel. Don't be deceived by its full sized apperance, this keyboard does not allow free flow typing at any reasonable speed. I highly recommend Palm Brand Portable Keyboards. The Palm Brand Portable Keyboard worked great with my Palm V. The two biggest problems I've seen with friends and collegues purchasing palm keyboards that are not made by palm are 1.) functionality and 2.) a connection mis-match. A friend who recently purchased a Belkin Keyboard could not even get the software loaded correctly. Every button he pressed on the keyboard forced his palm pilot into Hot Sync. Haven't heard any complaints personally about Palm Inc. Keyboards. Be sure that whatever keyboard you go with specifies that it is compatible with your model, and don't trust the pictures!

The Belkin keyboard for my M505 works beautifully! The keys are a lot easier to press down than many other palm keyboards. The drivers worked just fine with my system as well. I would highly reccomend this product!

First I tried it at the store with an opened box model. There was a screw missing which held the connector in place. It was found elsewhere, loose from where it should have held the connector in place.

So the clerk got me a new one. I took it home and the small connector unit came loose. It appears the two screws that held the connector in were not screwed in completely. two different widgets, same conceptual problem.

Quality control appears to be an issue.

Due to to this extra protection the availability of the camera is a bit cumbersome since the case must bent to access the camera. Although the case was designed to do this, I hardly ever, but rather to take the phone out of the case to take pics and video etc. I dont mind this, since I prefer the have a case protecting the High def camera rather than those other cases, like OtterBox that dont protect the camera or the screen. I often wonder why this OtterBox is so "high" rated since it does nothing in my opinion.

To summarize: High Price, but Quality beyond expectations..

Delivered in executive packaging perfect for a gift.

If you spent that much for a Nokia N8 then dont hold back from spending on protection.

A case for the person who wants complete protection and executive appearance.

SteelSeries Siberia V2 Full-Size USB Gaming Headset with Virtual Surround 7.1 Sound (Black)

SteelSeries Siberia V2 Full-Size USB Gaming Headset with Virtual Surround 7.1 Sound
  • Closed ear headphones
  • Pull-out microphone
  • Crystal clear high, low and mid-tones
  • 50mm driver units
  • Lightweight suspension construction
  • Virtual Surround 7.1 USB Soundcard

This is my third USB Microphone/Headset combination. First two were various Logitech lower end units which either broke or became uncomfortable over longer gaming sessions (2+ hours on). These headphones are MUCH more comfortable and a lot less quirky to set up and use than other USB headsets. And the sound is very high quality. I use these for gaming, but the quality for music via iTunes is noticeably better as well.

Downsidesprice. SteelSeries stuff is more expensive and these are no exception. If you are not gaming, don't wear your headset more than an hour at a time or are not that picky on sound quality you may want to go with a cheaper Logitech. But if you have the money, you will not be disappointed with the performance of the Siberia v.2's.

I got this headset as a replacement for a pair of studio-phones (the Audiotechnica ATH-M40fs) that could be worn for long periods of time and have better sound recreation for gaming.

They fit the bill perfectly. The 7.1 surround really gets you into the game. You get a sense of where everything is around you (currently using them while playing Skyrim), and they have enough bass to get that rumble when dragons soar overhead.

The earphones are extremely comfortable for long-term wear, so long as you keep the pads off of your temples. They do not have any drivers sticking up from under the pads like the AT's do. I'm also a full-time glasses wearer, and need to have 'phones that don't put too much pressure on them or make them off-kilter these do not. They're so light and put nearly no pressure on your head.

They're very nice to use as casual music-phones. The little bit of bass is just the right amount for me (as someone who gets headaches from bass), and it brings out a different sound from my music than the studio-phones do.

The only con is that I don't like how thin the cable is on the headphones. I'm positive I'll roll over it one of these days, and then it'll be dead.

I actually bought these headphones from "the egg" computer website as recertified. They arrived in horrible condition, reeking of cigarette smoke and had gum or something on the microphone. I contacted Steelseries and was able to RMA the gross phones. They ended up sending me a BRAND NEW pair of the same headphones.

This isn't my first Steelseries headset (previous models being the 3H for PC and the Siberia Neckband), but it may be my last! At least until they release something that beats it, that is. Or it breaks, whichever comes first. Anyway, moving on.

I actually bought this headset for use with my Astro Mixamp, which unfortunately didn't come in until much later than this headset. Not knowing Astro had changed the hookups for their A40s and thus not knowing that the A40 + Mixamp would NOT come with the cable I needed to use the Siberia V2, I've yet to fully realize this purpose. The Y Adapter is on the way, and I'll update this review after getting to use it for a bit.

I have so far sampled the sound through the Mixamp, and it is excellent. The best of the thousands of dollars of headsets I've used over the last few years.

Now, I can say, the USB sound card that comes with this headset is excellent. It may not be as good as the Mixamp, but I'm not sure anything compares in that case. It had very clear surround sound, and was a breeze to setup and configure.

The headset itself is the most comfortable I've ever had the pleasure of placing on my head. More comfortable than the Siberia Neckband, which I fell asleep while wearing the first night of owning it. This headset auto adjusts to your head. No need to wrestle with tightening, loosening or with it sliding out of position. It holds on tight, and stays comfortable while doing so.

Having recently gotten a pair of Astro A40s as well, I had a very clear line with which to compare. The A40s only arrived last week, so I've been using them to judge which headset I'll ultimately use with the Mixamp. After comparing sound quality in games, music, and movies (Avengers Assemble!) over the last week, I can say for sure that when my Y adapter arrives I WILL be using the Siberia V2 over the Astro A40. At least when it comes to sound sound quality.

I've always been a fan of the pull out microphone on the Steelseries headsets, and this one picks up my voice better than any of the others. As of right now, the only microphone I would choose over this one is the A40s boom mic, and only barely.

The bottom line is this: if you're looking for a PC headset on a budget (or not), I highly recommend this one. If you're planning to use the included USB sound card, it works wonderfully. If you have, or are planning to get, an Astro Mixamp it works amazingly with that as well (microphone comparisons through the Mixamp coming later).

I know i only talked about it in comparison to the A40, but here is the complete list of headsets it was being compared to:

Turtle Beach X1

Turtle Beach X11

Turtle Beach X12

Tritton AX720

Razer Carcharias

Razer Moray+ Earbuds

Sony PSP Go Earbuds w/ Inline Mic

Astro A40

Steelseries Siberia Neckband

Want SteelSeries Siberia V2 Full-Size USB Gaming Headset with Virtual Surround 7.1 Sound (Black) Discount?

I work full-time in a call center wearing a headset, and I needed a headset I could wear at home for gaming that is lightweight and comfortable for 4+ hrs so I could still have some long gaming sessions after a day at work. If you're in a similar situation, look no further. This headset is feather-light, THE most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. Some of the highlights of this product:

* lightweight and ergonomically designed. It may look a little cheap and plastic-y, but don't let that fool you most of the framework has metal inside that gives it a solid, yet light feel.

* the tension band works in concert with the earpads to provide even pressure across the head. It almost doesn't feel like you're wearing it.

* the pull-out mic is a flexible metal tube that seems pretty durable.

* the 50 mm drivers have GREAT bass reproduction. There's only one other pair of headphones I've ever listened to before that could reproduce bass as well as these. They may not be audiophile quality, but they're definitely above average.

* analog 3.5mm jacks allow you to hook these into nearly anything. I bought a 3.5mm RJ9 adapter cable so I could possibly use them at work as well on the phone. Haven't tested out this setup yet.

* the USB soundcard produces "ok" sound (not anything better or worse than my laptop's). The 7.1 surround feature of the USB software is a bit gimmicky, but is noticeably different from regular 2-channel audio mode. According to the manufacturer, they include the soundcard not b/c it's supposed to produce better audio than a laptop card, so much as because it has its own internal processor that offloads some computational work from the computer, hopefully improving gaming performance.

* a nice side-feature is that a 3.5mm extension cable is included. The length of the cable that is permanently attached to the headset is just long enough for an mp3 player to be connected to it in your pocket. If you need a longer cord when sitting at your computer, you've already got the extension cables to prevent any discomfort with short-cord problems.

I've tried a few different cheaper headsets and finally decided to spend the big bucks on these not because they're necessarily the best audio quality (though for me, these are eargasm quality), but because they're very ergonomic. You can wear these things for hours and not feel it at all afterward.

This review is for the Siberia V2 USB Gaming headset.

So you (the reader) can have a sense of reference for my review, let me start off by saying that I am a PC gamer and planned on using this headset primarily for that purpose alone.

As a gamer I am interested in the following:

1) Sound quality

2) Comfort

3) Directional sound

4) Design/construction of headset

5) Drivers/software

The games I wanted to use it for were: Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, Portal 2, and others (as I purchased/played them). That being said, I can not and will not cover any movies or music usage aspects of this headset in my review, since I am not an expert at those two at all.

I have recently tried out the Corsair Vengeance 1500 USB Headset as well (my review can be found on there too), and decided to go with the Steelseries V2 Siberia.

1) SOUND QUALITY = A

Really, really good. The virtual 7.1 surround sound (achievable with the included USB sound card) actually works! The 50mm drivers sound wonderful and are able to accurately reproduce everything from base-rich explosions to light footsteps.

I personally did not hear any background "hissing" sounds. And my mic quality was superb as well (verified with friends over Skype, in-game voice).

2) COMFORT = A

I really think THIS is where Steelseries has an edge over other similarly-priced headsets. Their design (although appearing flimsy) allows for an insanely comfortable fit. I do not have a very large head, nor do I have over-sized ears, but most of the other headsets were uncomfortable for me (the Corsair Vengeance felt like it was constantly squeezing my head). This is not so with these! I can wear them for hours and not feel ANY discomfort. While the leather ear pads are very comfortable, they affect the "breathability" aspect and it becomes somewhat warm around the ears after a long session of gaming. However, that is something that you'd have to deal with no matter which headset you get, if it has (p)leather cushions.

3) DIRECTIONAL SOUND = A

Great! As mentioned earlier, the 7.1 surround sound works very well with the included USB soundcard. There's even a nifty little test you can do from within the software, to test out the speaker placement. It allows you to literally see the sound direction it's playing for you on the monitor. It felt very accurate to me!

Secondly, I had no issues with sound direction whatsoever in the games I played.

4) DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION = A-

While I love the headset, its construction does appear to be a little flimsy. The top headband is a very thin cushioned strip that is connected via two paper-clip type strands to springs within the ear pieces.

The mic can be taken out or retracted into the ear-piece. This not only looks cool but is very very functional. This is by far my favorite feature on this headset! My only thing is, when the mic is pushed-in all the way, it still sticks out slightly (by less than a quarter of an inch, mind you). This leads me to believe that the winding mechanism inside the ear-piece isn't terribly precise. Which is fine because you can't really tell that mic is not fully retracted by merely a few millimeters, but it is an indicator of craftsmanship. At the end of the day, in my case at least, the headset is just going to be sitting on my desk if I'm not using it, so the "strong-enough construction" factor is really not that important.

Overall though, the design of the headset is very cool and it does look and feel phenomenal. The in-line controls are nothing fancy but completely functional and intuitive.

5) DRIVER/SOFTWARE = B+

The software isn't terribly intuitive but it does its job. It's got some cool features like the ability to turn 7.1 on/off with a click of a button and a surround sound test that lets you see on the screen the directional speakers that the headset is trying to imitate.

The driver shows the headset as a "USB PnP Sound Device", which is fine really for all intents and purposes, but it shows the amount of programing polish and time that went into the software side of things for this headset; they didn't bother to create fully-formed drivers that actually spelled-out the name of the device itself ("Steelseries Siberia V2 USB Headset").

Lastly, the accompanying software, again, lacks the polished look and feel that you'd expect from a popular audio device manufacturer. It looks more like something that a small start-up created for their new product. However, since it does its job, and does it well, the bells and whistles beyond that are really unnecessary anyway.

>>CONCLUSION: Awesome headset with no major issues in any arena. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a virtual 7.1 USB headset for PC gaming, for under $100. It's comfort and functionality really make it a contender with the higher-priced headsets too!

P.S. Contrary to most of the other low reviews on this product due to "Wrong product received", I received the exact headset outlined on this page and I actually got it within 1-day instead of 2 (thank you Amazon Prime)!

rooCASE Super Bubble Neoprene (Orange / Black) Sleeve Case for Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A 13.3-Inch

rooCASE Super Bubble Neoprene Sleeve Case for Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A 13.3-Inch LaptopFits a 13" MacBook Pro (2012) model nicely. There is a tiny amount of extra room inside (about a 1/2 or so on top/bottom, sides are snug). The dense orange foam inside feels very hearty and the bumpy surface should provide a decent amount of protection while being carried about inside a bag. Quality is great, good zipper with fabric protection under it to keep from scratching your laptop on the way in and out. Only downside I can see is this sleeve would be much help in a drop situation from more than a foot or so off the ground (but that's not it's intended purpose anyway).

Simple and effective, this case is a great buy. I use it with my Toshiba Portege 13" and it's perfect.

Very well represented by the picture. Very thick material all around. Zipper moves well. Anything you put in the front pocket will bulge. Neoprene exterior and some kind of synthetic hardened interior yet still protective.

PDair Leather Case for Samsung Focus SGH-i917 - Book Type (Black)

PDair Leather Case for Samsung Focus SGH-i917 - Book TypePDair Leather Case for Samsung Focus SGH-i917 Book Type (Black)

Functional and attractive case. PDair brand is the only one I found incorporating open face w/cover over screen which looked good to me and made for Focus. Belt clip could be longer to fit slightly wider belt.

Very nice case.

The case itself is excellent. All the ports are accessible and you can use 100% of the phone features while it's in the case. I didn't find the cover terribly inconvenient while talking on the phone.

The product comes directly from China, so the variability in delivery time is considerable. If you need a case in three days, try another brand.

My only complaint is the belt clip. The case comes with a detachable belt clip that I have had on several other cases for other phones. The clip is thick adding a solid inch to the profile of the case (total thickness about 1 7/8 inches). Between hitting the phone while walking, and stressing the clip components as I move the phone from hip to back pack to jacket pocket, these kinds of clips fail quickly.

Buy PDair Leather Case for Samsung Focus SGH-i917 - Book Type (Black) Now

I was disappointed in this product. You can't talk on the phone while it is in this case and it is in too tight to pull it out easily to talk. Also, I had no idea the seller was in China when I bought it so it took a lot longer to get here than I had expected. I don't recomment this product.

Had a hard time finding a nice case for my Husbands AT&T Samsung Focus Windows 7 phone. We couldn't find many cases, per say, only the holsters which required him to fully remove the phone to use. This case suited his purposes nicely. It provides easy access to the phone. It attaches to the hip so he no longer has to carry the phone around in his pocket. When it rings he can just grab it fm his hip, flip it open it & answer. Same goes if he needs to send or receive texts. All the ports are accessible through the case too so you really never have to remove the phone. The phone clip swivels so you can wear it both horizontally or vertically. One pain though is that the nice looking cover gets in the way a little while talking on the phone. 1st few times you answer your phone the flap kind of taps you in the face. You kind of either have to hold it open with your finger or let it rest on your forehead. That may ease up after the leather loosens up a bit. My husband really likes the card holders in fact he wouldn't mind 1 or 2 more. Also he says the magnet is nice but it could be a little stronger. He has also voiced concern over the plastic clip holder he feels it should be stronger as well. So far it has held up but he fears it may be the 1st to go. Overall nice case especially since there are so few cases available for this phone. So far we are happy.

Intel DHX-B Thermal Solution for Intel Core i7-875K and Intel Core i5-655K processors BXXTS100H

Intel DHX-B Thermal Solution for Intel Core i7-875K and Intel Core i5-655K processors BXXTS100H
  • Supports Intel Processors with the LGA1156 Socket
  • Active Heat Pipe Solution for Performance-Based Platforms
  • Selectable Fan Speed Control Modes
  • Robust Design Meets Intel?s Stringent Shock and Drop Testing
  • Four-pin Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Fan Control

I bought this to sit on top of my i5-2500K and I couldn't be happier. I love the way it looks through the case's side window and it is so quiet and smooth. The installation was easy enough, anyone with mechanical ability should have no trouble and the chrome and polished metals are great and give it a much better appearance than most cpu coolers. I was surprised when I first saw the box, it is not as big as I expected. Though not small it is not huge and doesn't feel like a brick in your hand.

I think other coolers available could keep temps a bit lower but mine are fine. I keep my 2500 overclocked to 4.2 and it idles at 42c and under load gets up to about 60c on a hot day. I don't believe in "burn-in" or "stress" testing but would expect core temps to near or pass 80c during such tests.

I also love that it is from Intel who better than them to know what their processors need?

I would recommend this fan to all except possibly severe gamers who need every bit of cooling they can get.

Buy Intel DHX-B Thermal Solution for Intel Core i7-875K and Intel Core i5-655K processors BXXTS100H Now

This Fan is super quiet and is very big inside your case. But it low my temp to 10 C degree less comparing to the standard fan that came with the cpu. It has two speed you can adjust with a button.

With the higher speed it give a little more noise(useful in summer period).

Also you must install it first before screwing the Motherboard in your chassis because you have to fix the base under the Motherboard first

You also have to remove the fan cover to be able to fix the screws in the base.

Also make sure you buy the latest model with the speed button included with the transparent plastic fan, because there are a lot with the same number.

I recommend this quality Fan to everyone !

Works well. A little bit of a pain to install but if you know computers you should be able to handle. I would not hold off because of that. Just remember when installing take grill off from in front of fan.

Using for a month now with no problems. Also quiet.

PDair Black Luxury Silicone Case for Nokia N9

PDair Black Luxury Silicone Case for Nokia N9The PDair case is of good quality and feels nice in the grip and looks decent without affecting the Nokia N9's aesthetics.

However, the edges of the case surrounding the screen could have been trimmed a little or designed differently. They hamper the beautiful and seamless swipe function rendering the Nokia N9 experience frustrating.

As I had mentioned in another review for a N9 cover, the genuine official Nokia N9 case that came supplemented in the Nokia N9's box is far superior and beautiful. Save your money.
