Buy Rolling Ave. i-Circle Multistand/Grip for new iPad, White (ICRW1) Now
The design of this multi stand is absolutly amazing!!! This is a MUST have for anyone that travels!!! I see people struggle all the time when flying on planes to get their IPad in a good typing position or viewing position for movies. This thing does it all and I am the envy of IPad users that sit near me!!!There is no longer a need for bulky IPad covers and pads that fail to provide effective stand capability!!! This thing is light weight with no bulk added to the backside of the IPad. Yet, if you take a closer look very durable and protective!!! I love how you can use the circle as a grip when carrying your IPad around. It makes me feel safe knowing I have a frim grip on my IPad with no worry aboout accidental drops.
I am a musician and the keyboard angle is a perfect position for playing keyboards on the IPad!!! I also use it all the time in the upright position to show my guitar tabs and lyrics as I play. Musicians will love this thing!!!!

I love the height that it props the iPad up to for typing. I have had the case for a few months now and so far I love it.Want Rolling Ave. i-Circle Multistand/Grip for new iPad, White (ICRW1) Discount?
i love itit is the best case i have
i tried many and many cases but this is the best 5 in 1 (protect, handle, 3 stand phases)
the only bad thing is the price
i think it is expensive
because it is plastic!Unit snaps firmly and securely into place, but easily removable (if needed) excellent iPad 'grip' function (with ring closed) sturdy and stable 'stand' function (both portrait and landscape) makes iPad keyboard use far more comfortable when in 'tilt' mode.
The twin hinges were well designed, the two small retainer magnets keep the ring from flopping out on it's own, there is a solid click into each of the 90º positions, and there's even a thoughtful small rubber pad that helps keep your iPad from scooting when on a smooth surface (also, I presume, was designed to prevent scratching the surface upon which it's placed).
Not sure I'd sell this as a case per se (though if scratches on the backside metal iPad body are of concern, this unit does cover most of that).
I like it, would buy it again (one for my wife's mini?), and several of those who've seen it are getting one, too . . .

It can run for hours with the extended larger battery but the standard small battery is not very good alone.
The PDA itself is nice to use and has plenty of memory available. The dual card slots (SD and CF) are nice. Also the new Window 6.5 can read any size SD/CF card upto 32GB.
Outstanding PDA and Microsoft Office Mobile, Gorgeous Screen.

NEW Compagno 2 Keyboard and Case (Input Devices-Wireless)
I decided to get this keyboard with case because the keyboard is removable and can be used from across the room if necessary.
The only draw backs are with the case in that the screen sits at only 1 angle and the iPad can't be rotated. The only fix to this is to remove the keyboard from case and then you can make adjustments.
All in all a good value compared to others in this class.

- Cut outs designed to ensure access of all Kindle Fire ports, cameras and speaker.
- Combo include: Kindle Fire case and screen guard(1 piece). Accessory ONLY Kindle Fire not included.
~ When it first came in yesterday and i opened it i was pleased to have received a pen (for being one of the company's earlier buyers) along with the case and protector in the package , which was a very nice gift ; )
*THE CASE:
~ I am very happy with my case. I love how it is clean and sleek once you put the kindle inside it. Without the kindle it doesn't look as good but When closed w kindle inside it protects the kindle very much, and when open it looks good and feels good, It isn't heavy feeling or flimsy either , it is just right for my needs. The kindle does stand up nicely while it is standing horizontally When you stand the kindle vertical though it needs to be on the first groove, otherwise it is a bit top heavy and can fall over, But it is perfect for me as i like to read my books vertical and i can do so even when it is one the lowest groove and slightly slanted! It just doesn't stand up quite like it looks in the picture, unless something is behind it supporting the top ; ) Also My kids are able to hold this case w kindle inside well, and aren't dropping it all over the place! (When I let them use it) . x0x I am very pleased with my purchase here!
THE SCREEN PROTECTOR:
~Upon purchase i had thought, "ok it's a plus i can get a protector w the pkg, since my kids AND I get our prints all over it and i am constantly wiping it down. I really didn't think the protector would be a nice or easy to put on as it was. ( I recently had gotten one that was wayyyy more expensive and came w the spray and all but it wasn't easy to get on like this one. and I have NO lint under it . Also the bubbles were Very few, and alllll of them smoothed right out easy as pie, I used the squeegee from the previous protector to do the bubbles on this one instead of a credit card! No scratches or lint on my protector now since it was the 2 step protector ( take off side on smooth onto kindle take out bubbles AND THEN take off side 2 After application ) * SO I am pleased with the protector very much! Though it still does have a glare! I don't recommend for "JUST" glare prevention, but for keeping the screen itself from getting scratched up at some point ,, then this one is just fine!
THE PEN~
The pen is really a great tool for the kindle fire, basic black, and great if you don't want to use your fingers on the screen it flips pages well and taps icons fine. Also it seems better at drawing than the first stylus i purchased....I didn't expect to get this little pen and i don't really care to bother using it! It is great if you want one though! I just don't ever use it! Though I might end up using it at some points.. My husband uses it one his "Acer tablet" and he loves it! So it is put to good use and works on all electronic touchscreen devices that i have in my house,, Ipod cellphones and other tablets...! SO I thank the seller very much for the extra little gift!
*** OVERALL
Great quality case, I love the white ( need to keep it clean ) ALSO There is N0 "smell" on this case at all, as I have read so many reviews on other cases where the buyer said the smell of the case when first opening package was strong & off putting But this case smells like nothing, so no worries in case anyone wonders ; )
I found this seller to have full-filled all the needs I was looking for when i purchased this item.. and hey little extras are always great!
x0x I give this seller 10/10 ~ I strongly recommend the case/screen protector/ and or also the touchscreen pen. from this seller, if you are looking for nice quality kindle protection at a reasonable price ~x0x0xThis works really well for landscape or portrait viewing when reading a book or watching a movie on the Kindle Fire. It is so helpful for positioning it just right when laying in bed or sitting in a chair. It does just what it is supposed to do and works very well for its purpose.

Brother P-Touch PT-18R Rechargeable Labeling System
- Rechargeable desktop labeler with handheld convenience
- Remove from cradle for on-site labeling
- Connects to PC for special labeling products
- Graphical, 15-character by 2-line LCD display
- Easy one-key access for templates and symbols
This particular unit is 2-3 times smaller in volume than all its brothers (non-intended pun here), thanks to its rechargeable battery. I was resisting this rechargeable business at first, because it implies frequent use (like a cell phone or laptop), but I warmed up to it. The price difference isn't that great (~$20 compared to a slightly lesser unit, the price of 8 good rechargeable AAs actually), plus it turned out that the little beast can go up to six months of occasional use without recharging, which is very impressive in my book. The NiMh cell is custom and labeled "Brother 18R"; hopefully there will be replacements in a couple of years when it finally gives out. I especially like the fact that this unit stores extremely well in addition to it being small: unlike the desktop models which sit flat on your desk and awkwardly occupy a lot of space no matter where you place them, this one actually goes into your library like a book, or upright into a corner of your desk drawer or file folder.
The auto cutter lives up to its name, so much better than manual. It cuts off the tape lead so you don't have to keep scissors around (you may find that funny, but re-cutting labels was standard procedure with my other labeler!). My favorite is the "chain mode". Here, you essentially delay your latest print in favor of a more efficient use of tape material. For example, if you enter "January", "February" and "March" and hit Print every time, the "March" label remains in the unit until you print something else or change your mind and hit the "scissors" button. This should address most people's issues with the wasted tape; it's as good as it gets with this system.
The device is very easy to use: while you type your text, it tells you how long your label is going to be. If you select borders, etc. the graphical display shows you the styles, and if you desire you can hit the preview button to get a WYSIWYG representation before printing. There are also a few "layouts" available, for example fixed-length (for your file folders), or two-line printing with different font sizes on each line (I find these particularly useful to label my Nalgene bottles with the content plus my name underneath). Unfortunately, the chain print mode (see above) doesn't work with those handy layouts; it always cuts off about 1/2" of empty tape. But I can live with it.
My minor gripe with this device is the low-contrast, non-backlit display (hey, since I'm running on rechargeables, I could justify the energy needs of a backlight). Also, the latch that closes the cassette department doesn't seem solid to me: a tiny plastic thing, similar to the one that broke on my other labeler. While I'm whining, I'd also like 360 dpi resolution for that really industrial look, but those printers are currently much more expensive (or PConly, which to me is now useless).
Still, this is the most useful, featurerich, and compact labeler that I've ever used, so 4 stars are deserved. Hope it helped in your quest to label those sock drawers :)
Buy Brother P-Touch PT-18R Rechargeable Labeling System Now
This unit is great! It's small, rechargeable, connects to the computer, has many useful formatting modes when you are using it away from the computer, and has an auto-cut function. It also has a chain printing mode that wastes very little tape. This mode selection is remembered until you change it again, no fiddling with settings each time. The only (minor) complaint is that the charging dock does not have a USB port, so you have to manually plug it into your computer when you set it on the charger. And it's a little pricey, but if you use any P-Touch unit more than occasionally, then the cost of the tape will quickly overwhelm the differences in price between this unit and less expensive ones. And this one is nicer.

This system fits nicely in the hands. It holds a charge a long time. I owned another brother product. The batteries did not last long. I purchased the AC adapter which was about the same price as the Labeler. Then I was limited by the cordThis cord-free version with long battery life is great. And means that I can take the labeler to whereever the project is. It automatically cuts so there is an even border on each side of the label. I purchased this because it has the ability to connect to a PC via USB port, though I have not used that feature yet.
It seemed like I went through the tape that came with the system quickly. It may have been shorter (like a sample) I am on my second cartridge and it seems to be lasting a long time.
My only comment is that I think the borders on each side are long--forcing you to use more tape than necessary. But this seems to be how they all work, so I still rate it 5 stars.
Want Brother P-Touch PT-18R Rechargeable Labeling System Discount?
I'm a long time user of the P-Touch system. My first was the PT310, which worked great. But with 6 AA batteries, as most of the other units have, it was a bit heavy. This unit is lighter, but not by much. The battery weighs a bit, but they didn't cheap out and use NiCad, they made it a mercury-free Ni-MH. That's much much much better, both from an environmental perspective and usability (no memory effects, partial charges ok, and much longer life cycle) thanks Brother! The unit has an excellent feel in the hands and great QWERTY layout and other button layout you couldn't improve on that very much. As far as features, pretty excellent, and certainly more than i'll ever need if you include the PC-based part. So my concerns are somewhat minor this unit is great but here goes:
1) Brother absolutely should have designed the charger to work on the USB port. You cant charge as quickly, but that gives you a far better place to park the unit, and at least gives you the option to be un-tethered from yet another AC outlet.
2) when you print each label, even with the feed options minimized, there is about an ince of lost tape with each label. I can be less in the chain setting, so there is a workaround. I thijnk that they've found a way to minimize it in this unit, but they could do better. Overall, it is still better handled than my earlier unit.
3) Brother really should improve the resolution of both the print and the screen. That would not be hard, and an otherwise excellent product could be even better.
4) the number of symbols inherent in the unit is far less than my earlier model. Yes, you can import images from your pc, but most folks are like me we will generally just use whats in the unit. Please add more images Brother! My last unit had a movie icon, great for labeling DVD's at a rental and now i can no longer match my older labels since they dropped that and a number of fairly obvious user friendly labels.
5) Great to have 4 fonts in the unit six would've been better esp on a $120 unit like this.
6) Brother should have done a better design job with the charging base. It certainly should be more compact taller if needed, but the flared edges just take up too much space my desk/office space is precious and they could still make a good looking base (which could charge from either PC/USB or AC) which has a smaller footprint.
7) Small issue the blue font special characters above the keyboard are hard to see and too small so for example, its hard to find the comma "," in low light situations. Those characters should be darker/more prominent.
Otherwise, i'm very happy with this unit. Hope to have it for years to come. This is my first labeler.
I kept seeing them in places like Home Depot and Staples, but I know retailers want to sell me what's most profitable for them rather than what I need.
So I went to the Brother website where they have an interview process telling you what to buy based on your anticipated usage. The PT-18R came up on top.
I was excited about this because I'm all for recharging rather than using and replacing batteries. I liked the option to plug in to an socket for straight electricity too. The length of the power cord is long enough so I don't feel restricted. I use a Mac, so the interface with a PC was meaningless to me and I won't ever use it.
When I first opened the box and followed the setup instructions, I noticed the battery is not Lithium-ion(Lion) but Nickel Metal Hydride(NiMH). Lion is state of the art and is unhampered by battery memory problems, so you can run it down and recharge at will. NiMH is last generation battery technology and while robust in terms of holding a charge, a NiMH battery will wear out sooner and may or may not have memory problems. Lion is more expensive than NiMH.
The book says to be prepared to replace the NiMH battery when it won't hold a charge anymore, or about a year. It also says the battery will lose it's charge if the labeler doesn't live in the recharger. So I'm prepared to buy a new battery from time to time, but nowhere on the Brother website is a referral to a retail outlet where a replacement battery may be purchased. And when I Googled PT-18R Battery, nothing came up . My hope is the battery is generic and someplace like Radio Shack will help me later on, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Wish me luck.
The interface works, but is clunky. Remember when the OS on a PC was MS-DOS? That's what this is like. After I got the hang of the file hierarchy with the operating manual at close hand, things became intuitive and I was able to edit and print labels in a smooth work flow.
I'm impressed with the variety of formats this labeler will render and I admit I'll never use them all. The PT-18R will do everything you want at home, and most everything around a business on up to barcodes, etc. I read in a previous review here someone was critical of the amount of tape used per label. This is easily adjusted in the setup menu before a specific labeling task. The operating manuel is complete, easy to understand, and covers everything about getting the most out of the machine. Use it.
The print quality is superb. The adhesive available on the tapes you can buy come in regular and extra strength, or two times the regular. I find if you're going to label anything other than file folders or paper based surfaces indoors, get the extra strength. Be prepared to get a head cleaning tape, especially if you use the extra strength tape a lot. The selection of tapes is the greatest in the 1/2 in. variety, so I recommend you start there and branch out into the other widths as the need arises.
TIP: It comes with a sample cartridge. Use it to experiment with what you're going to label before you go to the real tape you're going to use for the final application...cuts down on waste.
Also, DO NOT BUY TAPES IN A RETAIL STORE. Buy them either here at Amazon or online at any of the several P-Touch label vendors for half of what you'd pay at, say, Staples. Tapes are expensive and that's how Brother makes their money, not on the cost of the labeler itself.
At what I paid here at Amazon with free shipping, I got the street price going rate. So far I'd say PT-18R is worth the extra money over the cheaper models because it does exactly what I want it to do in the manner in which I want to do it. This represents value to me, but might not to you. Your call.
The PT-18R is an interesting mix of serious capability, especially to those of you who want to interface with a PC, and dated technology. There's no doubt it will be discontinued within two years (go to the Brother website and look at the long list of discontinued models) and replaced by units using Lion power. But I don't care. By then I will have labeled everything in sight. Get one.

- Scanning Length Approx. 53? (300dpi); 26? (600dpi)
- Power Source Rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery
Edit: I've received the replacement, 3/4 of the LCD display this time, so i'll be waiting on a third replacement. Not a huge problem as they have been functional enough that I have been able to play with them> Third time is a charm I hope. Scans great, takes a little practice to line it up straight and roll straight. Bluetooth transfers are a breeze with my computer. I can switch it over to Bluetooth and it instantly links up to the previously paired PC and hit the scan button and 5 seconds later it automatically transfers into My Documents. I can also from my computer view a directory listing of all the scans and easily pick and choose the scans I want to transfer. Much faster over USB but those are the limitations of Bluetooth not this device. This device can change your life if you decide to go digital to file everything away.
Edit: Got the third one in the mail today, one more faulty LCD, seriously this is getting rediculous I'm going to have to start knocking off stars. We'll see if the fourth one does any better. Amazon sure is getting screwed on shipping costs because of this product.

This scanner looks to have great features and seemed to produce good scans. Unfortunately, the manufacturer seems to have a quality control problem with the product. The LED display was defective on the scanner when delivered. I requested and received a replacement device and the replacement had the same problem with the LED. I was able to make a couple of reasonably good quality scans when testing the two devices received. Unfortunately most of the LED symbols that were supposes to display on the LED screen did not work on either of the devices I received.Read Best Reviews of VuPoint PDSBT-ST43-VP Magic Wand Portable Scanner with Bluetooth Here
The switch on this scanner has three level-off,on, and Bluetooth. The battery will charge only in off position. You can scan only in middle on position. Bluetooth light indicates Bluetooth is working and you cannot scan in this mode. You have to press the button to transmit pages. Battery life and scanning speed is as specified in manual.Want VuPoint PDSBT-ST43-VP Magic Wand Portable Scanner with Bluetooth Discount?
Before I decided on this scanner, I was deliberating between 5 others. Even though this scanner does not scan at 900 x 900 dpi or have dual rollers, offered by others, I've found that the features and benefits it does have meet my needs. I absolutely love that it has a rechargeable battery instead of AA's and provides the option for bluetooth transferring. I was hesitant to purchase after reading so many reviews about faulty LCD screens, but I'm glad I took the risk! I've had zero issues and am satisfied with the quality of the scans. I definitely recommend this product and advise users to practice scanning and to read the manual to ensure a good experience.I recently bought this product. I found that sometimes it is hard to scan from the center to the extremity of the page, but I found a workaround for that. I usually use a image editor to flip the image or rotate it whenever is needed. I just think that no matter what I do, it is still great product when I think how much typing I use to have before. And besides that, if you pay attention to the lens bellow and where it is located, you will see that becomes easy to manage it. The only way you can't find easy to scan is if the book has not much empty space from the center to the words, but as long as you can put the lens in a workable position, everything goes fine.Sunday, March 16, 2014

Sony CLIE PEG-TH55/U Handheld
- Palm OS version 5.2, Sony Handheld Engine processor, 32 MB RAM
- Built-in 310K Pixels CMOS Camera with 2x Digital Zoom (JPEG, 640 x 480 resolution), audio player, and video player
- High resolution TFT Color Display (480 x 320 dots, 65,536 colors)
- Integrated Memory Stick slot (compatible with optional Memory Stick Pro media)
- Internal lithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery
The design is very classy and professional, with a textured black plastic body and dark metal screen bezel. The TH-55 also features a built-in screen cover, which is a fingerprint and smudge magnet. The cover only flips back about 135 degrees, so at times it can get in the way. You can remove it, but it will leave two gaping holes in the top of the handheld. The best thing about the cover is that it is clear, allowing you to see appointments or alarms without opening it up, as well as the "viewfinder" for taking digital photos.
The digital camera is a 310,000 pixel unit capable of 640x480 photos. It has a 2x digital zoom and dedicated shutter/capture buttons on the left side of the handheld. Picture quality is decent for such a small unit, but the photos are only suitable for quick snapshots and e-mailing.
Of note is that the TH-55 has 32MB RAM with all 32MB available for use. In the past, CLIEs had memory specs like "16MB, 11 available to user." For further memory expansion, the Memory Stick slot is located on the left side and has a little door to prevent the stick from popping out. The slot supports all regular Memory Sticks, as well as the new Pro cards.
A big feature about the TH-55 is the wireless networking. Although the U.S. model had Bluetooth removed, the WiFi remains, and works very well. You'll take a noticeable hit in page loading speeds, but turning off Power Saving mode in the main prefs can help. Don't expect pages to pop up instantly though. NetFront 3.1 is the preloaded web browser, and makes for a nice handheld web experience, with various page fit options, Javascript support, and Jog Dial support.
Speaking of the Jog Dial, Sony moved it to the upper back of the PDA, right above the digital camera. This takes some getting used to for previous CLIE owners who may be used to having the Jog Dial on the side. There are also buttons to the left and right of the Jog Dial, which serve as back/forward in NetFront and previous/next in the Audio Player, among other uses.
The speaker is located on the back, and is reasonably loud. If using the TH-55 as an alarm clock, it helps to put it on its face so you can hear the alarm better. Alerts come through well, but the vibrating alarm of previous models has been removed. As with previous models, Sony also includes a Voice Recorder application.
Battery life is phenomenal; I can't honestly remember a time that an electronic device has wowed me with miserly battery consumption. When playing music with the screen off, I got 22 hours and 14 minutes in before the audio capabilities shut down. Surfing the web with WiFi enabled and the screen at half brightness, I got nearly seven hours of use (my cramped fingers!) before the networking shut off.
The great battery life is partly due to the Handheld Engine Sony uses in the TH-55, which is also used in the UX-40/50 line. It integrates a 123MHz ARM CPU, graphics core, and DSP onto one chip. The DSP helps the TH-55 play videos smoothly and decode mp3s despite the low CPU clock. Similar to Intel's SpeedStep technology, the Handheld Engine can regulate its clock speed from 8-123MHz depending on the application.
Sony's been hyping its new Clie Organizer software, but after all the talk, I went back to the standard PIM utilities. Like some third-party apps, it aims to put all utilities in one place, and allow you to move information back and forth between them. The Datebook gets a makeover, allowing you to write notes directly on the screen and add icons and pictures to your appointments. The right side of the screen is home to a tabbed launcher, which lets you access all the core apps with a simple tap. Although it's neat, the default Palm utilities do the job quicker and don't require relearning. It's not bad for a 1.0 release, but needs more speed and polish.
Sony includes Piscel Viewer on the TH-55, so you can view Microsoft Office documents. For a limited time, registering the handheld will get you a free copy of Documents to Go, which will let you edit Office documents. You get just about everything you need out of the box software-wise.
The price is right, and the machine impresses with a lot of technology packed into a small package. Battery life is great, and road warriors who don't like charging every day will love the TH-55. Despite having a low-powered CPU, multimedia doesn't suffer, and the WiFi is very handy when you don't want to fire up your main computer. The wonderful screen is the icing on the cake, but you won't be able to play games that require a joypad due to the screen taking up so much of the front. Not a bad effort from Sony with their first 320x480 tablet form handheld.

And I've owned quite a few: Palm Zire 71, Dell Axim X5, Sony Clie SJ30 and a couple more, just to name a few.Where to begin? The screen on the TH55 is crisp and vibrant (though a little dim compared to some other models) and huge, too! The pictures from the camera, while they're not print quality, I don't need them to be, as I already own a Sony Cybershot camera. And anyone complaining about the camera's pictures being pointless because of poor quality is crazy. With the TH55, the pics you take are perfect for use with the Clie Organizer and for e-mails--which is what they were MEANT to be for--not for making 4x6 prints. Just like with camera phones, the photos have to have a small file size, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense when you try to send it to someone.
But the biggest selling point for this PDA is its multimedia capabilities. I can FINALLY watch the MPEG movies that I record with my Cybershot on my PDA! Awesome! And some MPEG files downloaded off the 'net work, too. The 320x480 screen allows me to check out photos without a lot of wasted screen space, so my pictures look even BIGGER than on my old 320x320 Palm screens. Oh, and did I mention you can play MP3s, too? Awesome!
I also picked up a Palm wireless keyboard, so now my TH55 is like a portable laptop! I can watch movies, look at photos, listen to MP3's, browse the internet and send e-mail with Wi-Fi (built-in), play some seriously cool games and type up Word and Excel files (with free downloaded version of Docs to Go 6.0)--and all with a folding keyboard and PDA that take up 60% less space than a laptop!
Oh, and the battery life blows away any other PDA I've ever used. I can check out pics, type up a Word document, play some solitaire and listen to MP3s and a couple of hours later, I STILL have over 75% of my battery power left over! (I do have my screen brightness at about 70%, though) For once, I can go on vacation and not have to lug around a battery charger!
I hardly ever think that an item deserves five stars, but this one actually does. My only complaint? The stupid flip cover--it can get in the way sometimes and is a MAJOR dust/fingerprint/scratch magnet. But, I bought plugs for the holes for when you remove the cover, so now my TH55 is one sleek, slim tablet. PERFECT!

I've had this PDA for almost a week now and it's been GREAT! It is thin (about 5/8"), has a sturdy flip-up cover and feels solid.I previously had an old Palm m105 so I wanted to stay with the Palm OS. I had planned to buy a Tungsten E but the reviews for it talked about poor battery life, so I kept searching. I found that Sony was planning to release the PEG-TH55 in late February of 2004 and it was exactly what I was looking for in a PDA.
Out of the box, I easily transferred my m105 data to the PEG-TH55 with the Palm Desktop app (you'll need to switch to Palm Desktop for Clie if you are using a Palm-brand PDA, but that was seamless). The built-in Wi-Fi connected without a hitch to my home network and I hit some web pages to test it. The 320x480 display is very sharp and gives you a lot more real-estate to view applications. At the touch of a button, the Graffiti 2 or Decuma (both are options) input screen can come up and you still have the standard 320x320 display. There is a jog-dial and "back" button on the back which give another quick way to browse information.
Battery life? The box says 15 days but I haven't had it that long yet. I do know that I can fully charge the PEG-TH55, use it at work (not on a wireless LAN) for note-taking, scheduling, information look-up, etc., and the battery guage will still be at 95% full at the end of the day. That's a good sign that it will be able to keep up on a long business trip. The price is $399 MSRP but it does have lots of features that I think make it worth the cost -the larger display, 0.31 mega-pixel camera, built-in Wi-Fi, voice recording capability, etc.
Cons? Not many so far. I don't think that you're able to do a HotSync with the Wi-Fi connection...I'm not sure if that can be done by any Palm but I had thought it would be possible. The camera is good for quick pics, but not for anything significant. Sony PDA's also do not have slots for things like SD/MMC, but use the Memory Stick instead...a minor problem if you already have those for your current PDA.

I have been a long time Palm User, I can't even recall how many I've had. My latest was the M500 which I liked considerably because it was B&W and its battery lasted a month with heavy use. When my first M500 expired I purchased another, primarily because of the light weight and long battery life.I was very reluctant to try a color PDA, as I feared the frequent need to recharge. The ultimate failure of my 2nd M500 forced me to reconsider, especially in view of the fact that many new apps don't seem to run on Palm OS 4.x.
When I read that the Clié TH55 battery can last 15 days, I gave it a try. I have not been a bit disappointed, the TH55 can indeed go 15 days between charges. (Unless you are a mole who plays Acid Solitaire 23hrs out of 24.)
In writing a review of this product I'm somewhat hampered by the fact that I don't know which of the many useful software features are inherent to Palm OS 5.2 or are unique to the Sony authored software.
I can only say that many of the software capabilities are extremely handy, such as the interconnections between the datebook, freenotes, addresses etc. There are many ways to do everything on this PDA, such as enter text, configure the address book, use freenotes. Most everyone should be able to customize the use of the apps to their taste and needs.
The color screen is of good size and performance, not the best but close, in my opinion. Despite the 123mhz rating, apps don't seem to run slowly, though some may load a tad slowly.
The TH55 fits neatly in my shirt pocket and the plastic screen protector, that almost every review berates, actually serves its main purpose nicely, it protects the screen. I use a tissue or a clean piece of cloth to remove dust and fingerprints if necessary, but believe me that's not the big deal that many seem to make of it. So what if it's hard to see through, it protects the screen from other items in my pocket or on a table, and that is what I need.
My M500s were smaller and lighter than the TH55 but by the time I put them in an adequately protective case, they became bulkier and heavier, to the point that it was a squeeze to get them in some shirt pockets.
In my opinion something that makes the TH55 or any Sony better than any of the many Palms I've had or tried, is the way the Sonys hook up to recharge. I don't care if the TH55 is shipped without a cradle, when I plug it in to charge, it charges. You can purchase a cradle if you want, and maybe I will. The fact is that all the more recent Palms have a very unreliable way of hooking up to power.
To digress; I have had to adjust my Palms perfectly in their cradles and put a weighted object on top, then turn on the unit to see if the lightning bolt is there. Often the power light illuminates but the unit is not charging. Frequently it would take many adjustments to seemingly get it right, only to find that instead of charging overnight the unit is discharged. My Fiancés' Zire 71 is worse, there isn't even a light to make sure you're getting contact.
I love the way my new Sony has a positive locking feel when the charging adapter is inserted, and I know a little jostle can't break the connection.
OK, so the camera is a lousy "Camera" but if you use it as another reviewer mentioned, to record a price tag, a spec sheet, or to give someone an idea of how something looks, it can be invaluable in saving lots of writing and talking. There are PDAs with better cameras, they are still poor cameras. I don't recommend chosing a PDA based on the quality of it's camera, at least not today.
It would be nice to have Bluetooth, but I've had to make worse compromises in the past. The only thing that upsets me about it, is the arbitrary way it was done. Seems that Sony's "Suits" know that many Americans will go right out and buy the next iteration of the TH55, ditching this one, because it will then incorporate Bluetooth. I guess Europeans are more frugal about things like that.
The best thing Xerox ever did for Palm was to cause them to develop Graffiti 2. G-2 is much improved over G-1 and very easy to learn. For example, I found it very annoying and often confusing to perform an upstroke before writing a capital letter, and two upstrokes for caps lock was often too much for my multiple dead pixeled brain.
Writing caps on the dividing line is just too easy. And now X's and K's write like they look and won't be easily confused. It only took me a few attempts to completely learn Graffiti 2, most of you can probably catch on even faster.
My only real disappointment with the TH55 is the Stylus. Come on Sony you can do better! I use a Ballpoint Pen/Stylus combo which I keep in my shirt pocket. The Palm Styli were perfectly adequate. So score one for Palm, they still lose overall though, IMHO.
To summarize: why should one buy the Sony Clié TH55?
-Compact size with only a small compromize in power
-Much better than average color screen performance and size
-Excellent battery charge life
-Palm OS 5.2 and the excellent Sony apps
I reviewed virtually every PDA made and none are perfect, one has to decide which features are important to you and which aren't. As a much more eloquent reviewer stated, "Try before you buy." I couldn't agree more.I have my TH55 about two months now and have had pdas for many years, though this is my first Sony and my first color pda.
The selling point for me was the reasonable price for wifi web capability for when I'm on the road. The wifi does indeed work, I have found it useful to have the web around NYC for checking and answering e-mail (I recommend the accessory keyboard), looking up quick info on the web while on the go. Here there are numerous hotspots, and even often on the road, where info at my fingertips is priceless. And free hotspots abound.
Software, in general, is one of my three gripes. Here are my software issues:
-Sony only bundles a light version of Documents to Go, the full version of which is invaluable to people (like me) who use MS Word and Excel files on the road. I had to pay for the full version. Sony shouldn't be so cheap.
-Address book software bundled with the TH55 is nice in that you can attach photos or link notes and files with a person's contact info, but useless because the number of fields is too limited (this is also true with Palm brand address book software). Many of us need BOTH home address and business address fields for our contact people. So I had to buy third-party software once again, luckily which syncs nicely with Outlook's many fields for addresses and phone numbers.
-My advice about games: there are many available, work well and look nice, but I find a pda a poor gaming device because the battery life will be seriously shortened if you use it for extended activity without being plugged in. Get a gameboy for a portable gaming device and save your battery.
Speaking of photo capability, it was my belief that many of the features of the TH55, including the camera, were frivolous and unneccessary, but I was wrong. Having a camera with you at all times is VERY useful, as I was looking for some new furniture and was able to take snapshots of the pieces (and the tags, which displayed the dimensions and prices) to send to my interior decorator sister for her opinion. I also carry family pictures downloaded from my digital camera as one would carry family photos in a wallet. It is true, it is no substitute for a real camera with a flash and high resolution, but that is not the point. Often I have been grateful for the TH55's camera, and the resolution is not a handicap. VERY useful.
Also useful is the ability to play MP3s. I work out at the gym in the mornings and carry my trainer's workout plans in Word files on my palm. Now, I also carry music to get me through my workouts, and the pda, unlike my CD player, never skips. A 128 X 2 memory stick carries more than ample music for weeks of workouts, and a small pair of ear buds (I find the speaker inadequate) fit into the sports case I got at a local running shop. To my surprise, playing the music in background mode lets me turn off the power and the music still plays. This uses minimal power since it is the screen which saps the battery. Once again, VERY useful.
Second gripe: ergonomics. Of the three slide switches on the left, the power switch, located in the middle, is the hardest to activate, which means I have taken countless pictures of my hand or switched on the voice recorder instead of turning the power on or off. The voice recorder has still not been of use to me; perhaps get rid of it? Sony needs to update the power switch with a better idea.
Third and biggest gripe: I am annoyed at how slowly Sony provides accessory items for this new unit. I am waiting for a screen protector for over a month (they are backordered) and no store has them -and no delivery date expected any time soon. Screen protectors are invaluable, since they protect the touch screen you write on, which can scratch and wear without one. And Sony hasn't provided cases that are just right for the TH55, either.
These gripes cost the TH55 one star in my rating. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it for the reasons mentioned above and also, as other have said, it is extremely compact, light, has a wonderful display, good battery life (and a removable, not sealed, battery) and the new features add greatly to a pda's functionality. Especially web access, in my case. Look for better web browser software from third party vendors.
