the directions are not that great so out of the three i bought i and my wife made an error in application which caused a lot of frustration to the point that we threw two away. we were only able to get one to be applied correctly. the directions are poorly written and need to be clearer. the one that i was able to apply works well but expensive since i bought three and was only able to use one.

Wonderful product and arrived in good condition. Easy to setup and crystal clear viewing. Would definitely buy from again! I will continue to buy greatshield as they offer a great product at an outstanding price!

My husband gave me the Nook Tablet for Christmas; he also gave me the Barnes and Noble green cover for it, but my Nook wouldn't fit in it. I had to return it; the girl at B & N tried to convince me it would fit, so I let her try, but she couldn't do it either, so I don't recommend that one. This one, on the other hand is perfect, it fits like a glove, I didn't have to force the nook into it, and it's not loose; it fits perfect. All of the holes are in the right places for the speaker, charger, and usb. It's very sturdy when I stand it up on the table. The one thing I didn't notice in the description, is that where the top flap and bottom meet there are magnets inside the fabric (they are not visible), which hold it closed nicely, so that it's not flipping open and you don't have to worry about snapping it shut, the magnets just pull together, (nice). I very highly recommend this cover.

I agree with the previous review. I also bought this card and used it on my Fuji 4700, but after several months of use, a card error comes up. I re-format as FAT or FAT32 and it will work by taking 3 pictures only, but will eventually come up with another card error. I also bought a Sandisk version and it did the same thing. I own 3 useless 128MB cards and the one I use now is a 16mb card that came with the camera.

After a couple of weeks of use, the card failed work losing all the pictures from a trip to Arizona. Attempts to format and stick into card readers have failed. For the record, my camera is a Fuji FinePix 2800 Zoom.

How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The PNY 128MB SmartMedia Flash Memory Card, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

Smart media cards seem prone to the error message, but I found that if you rub it lightly on the metal strip, it works well again. It's the price you pay when your camera doesn't use compact flash or SD cards. I use a Fujifilm FinePix 6800z.

I'm really surprised at the number of bad reviews for this product. I have a 16MB Olympus card that came with the camera (a D-550 zoom), a 64MB that I got as a bonus of some sort, and the 128MB PNY. I never use either of the smaller cards. I have taken at least 2GB worth of pictures over the past 2 years and only once had to reformat the card. That was because I pulled it out of the reader before it had finished writing. I am very careful to transfer any non-repeatable shots to my laptop, then to my desktop, where I keep a series of folders that I restrict to 600 MB. I burn these to CD-ROM about once a month, then delete everything off the camera card.

My only complaint is the transfer time, but this is the only type of portable media I use, so I don't know how it compares to other formats.

This product is ok, but definitely not the best. I, too, dislike the layout, as I am also used to the number pad on a regular keyboard. Also, I've found that not all the buttons work. On mine, the backslash key makes an asterisk. That's been pretty frustrating, as the program I use my number pad on requires the use of the backslash key quite often. Other than that, the product seems to work fine.

Layout:

The usb keypad is good for the price. I am used to the desktop numeric keypads, so the key arrangements feels weird. This mainly applies for the addition key. It takes up 2 key spaces on the desktop keyboards, the second key space is now occupied by the backspace button. I like that fact that it has the 000 button. It saves me time when I am typing huge numbers. The backspace key is okay, but I don't like the placement. I guess that it's more of a personal preference, so some people might not have problems with it. It will take a few weeks, but I will get used to the key placement.

Price:

The price of the keypad is really cheap. If you look at the other products on amazon, they cost $8 more than this keypad. This also includes the 000 key, and a backspace button. I paid about $12 for the usb numeric keypad; the shipping was about $3. The usb numeric keypad is really cheap when you compare it to retail stores. Most retail stores sell these for about $30, and these are just the lowest costing keypads. They don't even included the 000 key, or the backspace key.

I've, literally, never written a review before but am deeply disappointed in this product. I realize that I only spent $12 so I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of it. I was, however, hoping that it would continue to work past the one week point. It has now completely ceased working even after repeated attempts to change USB ports, fiddle with the wires, etc. I have now learned my lesson on "you get what you pay for" and am planning on investing in a quality product.

When I first got this 3 of the button's didn't work, I soon realized though that if you take the button's that don't work out and trim the left edge it solves the problem because the edge of the keys overlap with the frame that they are supposed to fit in. A slight manufacturing error I assume, but a quick fix.

If you have very little data entry to do, you may as well do it on the awkward laptop computer. If you have a lot of numbers to enter, this thing is useless. I bought it because it was cheap and I figured, how bad could it be? The keys stick so you have to really bang on them to get numbers entered, and even then they don't always register. I had trouble mostly with the "1" key and the "enter" key, but others were not much better. After a couple of days of misery I went ahead and splurged on this product:

I purchased this cover for use with my Blackberry Pearl phone. I always keep a cover on it because I drop it on the ground about two times a week. This cover does a good job of protecting the phone from breaking when it hits the cement.

My phone is black, so the translucent pink tone gives it a unique look. The only down side is that it does slip around in my car as I drive around. The rubber-like cases stick better to your car's console but they are hard to throw in your pocket or purse because of their inability to slide in easily. That's the trade-off.

We're going on a cruise and I ordered this to use in the single outlet that will be in our cabin. It's very nicely compact and the cord kind of wraps into it. It has 2 3-prong outlets on one side and 1 on the other, as well as 2 USB ports. It's supposed to be able to charge 2 USB devices at once, one of them even being an iPad, which draws twice as much power as an iPod to charge. However, I was unable to do this during my tests at home. Forget an iPad and another device, I was unable to even charge 2 iPods, an iPod and iPhone, or an iPod and a Motorola Atrix phone. Only one USB device would charge at a time. I could, however, charge one device in a USB port and plug a usb adapter into a normal outlet and charge two devices but doesn't that defeat the purpose of this thing? Personally, I would not recommend this device and if I didn't need at least something before I leave in a couple days, I'd return this one without hesitation.

I ordered 5 Tripp Lite (my son ordered them for me), and I gave away 4, and left with only one. I believe having Tripp Lite is a necessity more than "I want that" item. The built quality is great, and it comes with a USB cable, just in case if your devices need it.

The advantages are numerous, one is having 3 output connectors for your gadgets and 2 USBs, especially when traveling and staying at Hotels or even at home. Most of the time you are faced with few wall outlets, and at the wrong places.

In addition, you are faced with a problem because you have a laptop, a digital camera, a camcorder, battery charger, cellular phone and maybe MP3 player.

I lost my Apple Ipad charger on a trip, but luckily had this with me and it did the trick.

There are other power strips and surge protectors with usb ports out there, but many will not charge an Ipad. This will.

Also it appears well made and well designed. The size is small enough to not be a burden.

This is a good unit. You can tell it is made well when it has a 14awg line to plug it in, versus the 16 or 18 that cheaper units would have. The two USB plugs are handy, though it would be preferable if they were on the side with two plugs. The specs for this unit are good, for example the let through voltage is superior to competin products. I'm not sure if they spec their joule rating as total, with each line pair protected only to 1/3 of that level the way Belkin does it, or something else.

Regardless, this is a nice item. Wish it came in white though.

July 2011 update:

After traveling with this unit, a blackberry and an iPhone, I'm a bit disappointed. When I plug either one in, it works fine. When I plug both in, my blackberry will charge, but my iPhone will cycle through a few charge attempts and then claim inability to charge with the accessory and stop.

I'm not sure if the two sockets are paralleled, and thus want different voltages or current levels than the unit van provide, if the unit is just current limited, or what. It's a great little unit, but I have to take it from five stars to three because an item of this caliber should be able to charge two smartphones at once.

I'm going to report this to Tripp lite and report back.

I have a Sony PRS900, which I love. I love it so much that I want to make sure that the screen doesn't ever get scratched. Toward that end, I've been using this screen protector for about a week and a half, and am mildly satisfied. Her are the pros and cons.

PROS:

-This screen protector DOES cut down on, but doesn't eliminate, glare. If you've ever used a kindle which has a very dull rather than sharp glare that is the effect this screen protector has on the Sony. Instead of that really shiny reflective glare, this blunted glare is much easier to handle.

-The sensitivity of the touch screen is not much diminished by this screen protector, either using fingers or the stylus. I've found myself having to press ever-so-slightly-harder to turn the page, but not so much that one notices after ten minutes of adjustment.

CONS:

-It may just be my ineptitude, but this screen protector is near impossible to get on without small air bubbles. I tried putting it on four times and settled for having a few very minor air bubbles that are really only visible when I look at the machine (in off mode) from an angle. You will be supplied with a plastic strip to help comb out the air bubbles when putting the screen protector on, but in my experience, it doesn't really help.

-I have noticed that the screen protector does render the screen's resolution a little less clear and pronounced. When my screen was protector-less and clean, the text was slightly crisper and darker than with this protector on. Also, I am quit sure that this protector shows finger prints a little more obviously than the Sony screen itself.

All in all, I probably would buy this product again, only because I am not sure the 'cons' would not apply to ALL screen protectors. And I consider the safety of knowing that my Sony won't get scratched worth the trade-off of a few very faintly visible air bubbles and slight diminution of contrast.

Same and even worse glare, impossible to put this protector withoout bulbs. I bought original protector for Nook and doesn't have any of this issues.

i bought this screen protector for my Sony Reader Daily Edition and it does its job i admit it could cut down glare even more and i hope the manufacturer will improve the protector in this aspect next time around. but the protector does protect the screen and i haven't had any problems with it. it takes a bit of patience to put the protector on without getting a bit of air bubbles, but not too bad included is a plastic card and small microfiber wipe to help you apply the protector onto your Reader. the product works fine but a bit pricey, in my opinion.

It tends to give a 'low battery' warning early, but it has a pretty good battery life. Just picked one of these up at the grocery store for about $19, and it won't actually print. Normally, I would assume user error, but the instructions are dead simple and its behavior is erratic, so I am pretty sure it is defective.

More detail: I put in the batteries, put in the tape, turned it on, typed in a quick test message and pressed "Print". At first, this would cause it to shut off the screen, make a little tape feeding noise and then turn off without printing anything. Then I popped the tape out and put it back in to make sure it wasn't misaligned somehow (it snaps in nicely, so I can't see how it would be). Now, when I press print, the screen turns off and it feeds about a foot of tape, still without actually printing anything (or displaying any sort of "Printing..." message, etc.).

I read a few of the reviews on another Amazon listing of the same product. It seems that plenty of people who got working models are happy with it, but for me (and for the others with similar problems), it's a bust. Buyer beware!

I use this GPS with my IPAQ 1945.

Pluses:

Works great with the IPAQ 1945; good, clear voice guidance; good maps; good software

Very straightforward, very friendly user interface -light year ahead of my Magellan GPS.

Minuses: It is great so why I gave it only three stars?

The GPS receiving unit is just a small hard plastic device and as slick as a hockey puck on your car's dashboard. I just don't know where to put it without it sliding off into the floor board each time I make a turn. I tucked it between the winshield and the dashboard, but that is not a good place as it can be very hot under the sun.

The so-call bracket for your PCPocket is a joke. There is not a single piece of information on how it should be put together or at least how it should look like assembled. Anyway, after a some trials and errors I managed to put it together and found that it simply does not work on the car's air vent as intended. It simply cannot hold the IPAQ. It is quite frustrated because simple you cannot use this GPS receiver/IPAQ while driving unless you can find a suitable holder for your IPAQ.

For walking/hinking: Unlike other GPS's where the receiver and display is in one unit now you will have to hold two (2) devices in two hands. It simply awkward and not workable while walking/hiking. I even try to hang the GPS receiver around my neck in a clear plastic bag, but it did not work out because the receiver would bounce as I walk and make the display jittery and jumpy.

So here I have, in my opinion, a technical marvel that I really like, but as a practical matter, I cannot 1) use it in my car until I can find or devise a way to safely mount the IPAQ display, and 2) walk/hike with it because it will require two hands to hold both devices!

Additional review after three weeks, with one long trip from Texas to Florida:

Yes, it did give opposite turn instructions a few times. My guess is that, in this case the highway exits were very close to each other and the software's position predictor probably estimated that I already missed an exit/turn and issued the turn around instructions.

Bought a Akron holder for my IPAQ, so that now it can be firmly attached to my windshield at a good viewing angle.

Bought an inexpensive cell phone case, with plastic window for the GPS receiver. This cell phone case, which holds the GPS receiver, can be clipped to my belt and the GPS receiver still can receive good satellite signals.

Found out that it will take a long time to generate and down load a big map such as the entire state of Texas. I suppose this is a function of the PDA -not much I can do about it.

Wish that I can enter known GPS coordinates as destinations. Bummer.

Overall I am a much happier camper now. I jacked it up to 4 stars!

This GPS receiver appears to work great with my 4155. I've only used it a few days, but I am very pleased so far. Installation of the software and first connection to the GPS went very smoothly. I like the way that it will start the Bluetooth connection automatically on startup of the software. The maps are from NavTech and seem to be pretty complete. I've found a few mistakes, but they are generally less than the web based mapping programs. Having a power cord that is compatible with my PDA is very helpful as well.

I plan on using this GPS while hiking. GpsDash (app for navigating and tracking with a raster map) works well with this receiver.

As far as negatives, the manual is only available online in the form of a pdf. The kit came with a mounting bracket, but I can't figure out how to use it. The power switch could be a little better constructed also. These negatives are pretty minor overall.

I ordered this to replace a Navman unit I used to use with my 3870, however I lost the 3870 and replaced it with a 4155 and this.

The good:

Excellent battery life

Excellent GPS, locks in within a minute with cold start

Bluetooth works great

The unit comes with a power adaptor using the Ipaq connector meaning you only need carry one charger around

The maps appear upto date

Software is intuitive

Routing is quick and auto-rerouting works well

Spoken instructions are particularly good. I often don't use the display

I like the points of interest and the way you can ask for a list and be directed to the nearest gas stations, restaurants etc.

Never locked up

The bad:

Only thing I've found better so far on the Navman was the map display

Generally very impressed!

Cons: The holder as many have writtin is cheesy and cheap, it rocks when you make corners and requires you to tape a button with double sided tape to the back of your PDA. I would reccomend a different mount and one with a speaker like the ARKON Powered PDA & GPS Mount Kit listed in another review. I would also reccomend using velcro to fasten the gps unit to your dash otherwise it slides around. As far as using the gps for walking, it is a bit of a pain to use unless you put it in a T-shirt pocket, anything thicker than that and it wont recieve a signal.I sewed a velcro strip to my jacket and stick the gps to that. Also I would reccomend having at least a 256 or 516mb memory card in your PDA If you plan on travelling state to state. I put 5 state maps on my pda and it fills my 256mb card. So the more memory you have the farther you can go.

I have been using this for a week and am quite pleased with it. I downloaded the maps for CA and the surrounding states (AZ, NV and OR) and they all fit with room to spare in the 256 MB SD card of my 4355. I have used the Magellan several times when I rented from Hertz and I found the interface much much better. The feature that I like the best is that you could set your destination using your Outlook contacts; no need to enter address or street names.

I am giving it 4.5 stars because of an annoying feature of the flashing BT blue light from the 4355 (which is not really the fault of the GPS device)when driving at night but otherwise a really great product.

The ePods-1 is highly recommended as a versatile device. I have been searching for a device like this for some time now. The Palm is great but serves as merely an organizer. The websurfing on my Palm 7 is minimal and I can't stand the text-based experience. Although the ePods product is tethered to the wall, the ability to surf the web from any room in my home is remarkable. I never thought I'd be able to browse my recipes from my kitchen.......even while cutting carrots. In a nutshell, this is a must buy!

I bought three of the units and used them up to a year ago. There is a Windows XP hack for the system that works quite well. The problem was that the Windows CE OS that the system uses is no longer supported, and the web browser is based on IE 5. There is no IE 6 or above for the device, so most websites (today) could not be used.

Does wireless nicely, used it for AOL IM and for a PowerPoint slideshow viewer. Nice system!

In 2009, perhaps it's overzealous to try to connect the ePods to the Internet (what with network encryption), but that's not why I purchased one. I was looking for a lightweight document reader with a big screen, and that's exactly what I got.

The visible screen measures 6 3/4" x 5" (17 x 13 mm). It handles .doc, .rtf, .txt, and .html files, amongst others.

The ePods was originally designed with a proprietary Internet service, but it's easy to bypass the logon requirements. Select the username field and type ctrl-31415.

Don't expect the USB ports to work with a flash drive. I purchased a compact flash card and a USB compact flash card reader, and it's a breeze to transfer files from my laptop to the ePods and back.

Standard USB keyboards work without additional drivers, but I'm content with the on-screen keyboard and stylus. If the battery is in good condition, as mine is, one can get five hours or more of continuous use between charges.

After going to all the effort it took routing, trenching 60 ft, (to get distance between the outdoor and indoor antenna I mounted on my shop) and mounting everything I decided I better spend the few bucks and make sure a lightning strike does not wipe every thing out.

So I order this over priced protector and guess what it is N female to N female. The write up says its N male to N female. I did look at the picture which shows its female both ends but you know how the picture does not always match what you get as manufactures change there product.

Anyway now I am waiting for a $5 male connector to protect my $800 system. Yes I am a little hacked as they can not even throw in the connector you are going to need to make this part work.

When I got the package, the first thing that made me happy was the size of this camera. I travel a fair amount on business and have a two-year-old daughter, so I always take a camera with me to talk to her at night and allow her to see me. The size of this camera is as good as it gets for traveling, and it also includes a great padded pouch for transporting it.

The other aspect of this product that I loved is its image quality, especially in regards to how well it adjusts the image based on the light and also how when you are on a Skype call and you move, the person on the other side can clearly see the movement instead of seeing a blur on their screen. I compared its quality side by side with my previous camera, which roughly costs half of what this one goes for, and the difference in quality was huge; making this a great purchase.

In terms of the software installation, the instructions were simple and clear and the process does not take too much time. The only thing that can be improved is that when you get to the point in which you are prompted to plug in the camera, while the computer is checking the configuration, the installation screen keeps prompting for the camera to be plugged in. People used to installing plug-and-play hardware will quickly realize what is going on, but some users may be confused by this and start unplugging and plugging the device.

In terms of using the camera with Skype, the integration is seamless. The only setting I had to adjust manually was the microphone, but this is straightforward, I just needed to go to the Options / Sound Devices and pick the appropriate audio in. A final thing to consider is that for the camera to work with Skype you have to close the Logitech Quickcam software, since the image cannot be used by both programs at the same time.

Overall I am highly satisfied with this product, and besides the minor problems mentioned above, the only other thing I did not care for was the stand. This camera works great if you are going to clip it to your laptop screen, but the stand provided for use with desktops is wobbly and does not help with image quality at all.

INSTALLATION: 3 Stars [Update process could have been smoother]

Out of the box, the package warns you in several places not to plug the camera in until you have installed the software. They even put a small cover on the USB plug with a message on the cable. Very effective. I turned off AntiVirus protection per the instructions and then installed the software. I enabled automatically check for updates. It said no updates were found. Then I plugged in the camera. After full install, it said updates were available and gave me a link to the website where I was supposed to select my camera, operating system, file version, etc.... I closed that link and found the "Check for Updates" link within the software (Right click on the Logitech Camera icon in the System Tray). That worked smoothly without intervention from me. It updated my software from version 11.1 to 11.5.

IMAGE: 5 Stars

The 2 MP camera produces very clear images that work great on Skype. Motion is no longer blurry, and the autofocus works great. The specifications say the autofocus will not work closer than 10 cm, but I find that if you move in slowly, it will work as close as 4 or 5 cm. This is great if you want to show something up close like an image from your digital camera or a label on a product.

SOUND: 5 Stars

The built in Microphone combined with the Logitech noise reduction software eliminated all the echos and howling that I expereienced with my previous camera. I no longer have to yell to be heard. I can speak in a normal voice, or even from across the room, and my sound is crystal clear. Flawless.

CLIP: 3 Stars

The clip for this device does not hold it securely. The camera can easily be pulled left or right if the USB cable is tugged even slightly. The rubber feet on the clip seem robust, yet it seems to be delicately balanced on the edge of my monitor. It doesn't fall off, but it is not a solid perch. The camera can be independently tilted up and down, but not left and right. There is no option for clipping the camera to the side of the monitor. The included stand works decently. It is made of three pieces that fit together and then the camera clips to the top. I placed the stand behind my laptop and it worked very well...peering over the top. Unfortunately, you cannot adjust height of this stand. I will probably not bring this on future trips.

SPECIAL FEATURES: 2 Stars

There is a thin button across the top of the camera that allows you to take still photos. I found the camera button was too easy to press while trying to adjust the camera. And since the camera does not clip securely, trying to press this button almost requires two hands...one to steady the camera and the other to push the button. The included software allows Avatars to imitate your facial expressions in place of your real image. You can also add special effects like hats, arrows through your head, or goatee and mustache. When it works, this is a really neat feature that my kids loved! But, even though it was neat, something in that feature conflicted with my Symantec Antivirus. As soon as I turned antivirus back on, turning on these neat video features forced my machine into an immediate shutdown! I got a BSOD followed by a hard shutdown that I haven't seen since Win95! My machine hung in a state of limbo. The power button wouldn't turn it off (software driven) but the machine as powered up with a blank screen. I had to pull the plug and remove the battery to complete the shutdown. Each time I turned that feature on while using Antivirus, my computer gave me the BSOD and performed an immediate and hard shutdown. Needless to say, I no longer use these special features.

AUTO FACE TRACKER: ?

This is a neat feature, but I do not find it useful. It really does a great job of following my face, but at what price? It seems like the other person would get seasick watching the background bob and weave as the software followed my head around. I think I am used to seeing the background stay put, while the person moves around in the frame. Anything else is disconcerting. Since I don't care for this feature, I did not rate it. You may find it entertaining.

ACCESORIES: 5 Stars

The included soft-sided pouch, along with the velcro strap for wrapping the USB cord are nice touches as I plan to use this for travel. Why don't more manufacturers offer these nice touches?

OVERALL REVIEW: 4 Stars

The video and sound are superb, and that is what really counts. But it seems that logitech could take one more step forward and improve the software to eliminate glitches with anti-virus, improve the software update process, and design a more robust clip. With a few minor changes this would easily be a 5-star item.

RECOMMENDATION:

After trying several different brands and models, this one had the best price/performance. Cheaper ones left me wishing I had better video. More expensive ones had me wondering why they cost so much when this one offers everything I need. I would recommend purchasing this item.

This is the perfect webcam for using with a laptop. The image quality is outstanding and works well even in low light. The cord is just long enough to connect up to a USB port without getting in the way and saves space when packed up in the tiny neoprene case that's included. Logitech even thought to include a handy mini velcro strap on the USB cord to keep things organized. There's a small and quite adequate microphone with the camera. The stand that is included with the camera breaks apart into three smaller pieces so it can also easily fit in one's gear bag. I'm a bit concerned it's not quite sturdy enough for constant assembly-and-disassembly. I can see using the stand quite a bit when attending lectures because it isolates the microphone from the sound of keyboard typing. I also own an Quick Cam Ultra Vision on a workstation at work. All in all, I'd say that this tiny webcam gives the huge Ultra Vision a good run for it's money on image quality and features, but is much more convenient for the road warrior. Logitech is obviously taking web cams seriously-these are the two best webcams I have ever seen. They suddenly make video conferencing, video Skype, and OneNote video notes a must have.

Update: A replacement unit has good focus from side to side. The focusing defect I saw appears to be unit specific. Check your unit for focus uniformity across its entire field of view to avoid a defective unit. Once you have a good one, the image quality is excellent.

This webcam does produce a better picture than the built-in camera of a MacBook. Yes, it works with with Mac OS 10.4.10 natively as a UVC device. HOWEVER, the unit I purchased had a focusing flaw. The left side of the image was always slightly out of focus while the right side of the image was well focused. As a result, the very nice lens system just could not get the entire picture right. This focusing flaw was not so noticeable at iChat's low 640 x 480 resolution, but if native resolution images were captured using other webcam capture software, the left 1/3 of the image was clearly out of focus. I believe the unit had its glass lens tilted relative to the CCD preventing it from ever bringing both sides into focus. As a result, the camera's touted superior lens was largely negated.

However, it is otherwise an impressive camera which delivers better tolerance to poor lighting than the built-in MacBook camera. The increased resolution CCD is impressive (in the focused portions of he picture) and gamma response yielded an image which conveyed greater depth.

If the entire image were in focus simultaneously (in full resolution captures) I would have given this using 5 stars. With the optical flaw, I can only give it 3/5. It is possible that other specimens may have better alignment between the lens and CCD, but without testing several more units, I don't know if the problem is a design flaw or simply a single missaligned unit.

This webcam produces nice sharp images and the automatic focus is fabulous! The colors are rich and very true.

It works great in dim light and well lit areas. However in my opinion it works best if the room is evenly lit,either all dim or all bright.When I first turned it on it was evening and my room was dim except for the desk lamp which was sitting behind the camera and this caused some over exposure,this was easily solved by simply turning the lamp off.

The sound is also nice and clear,even from several feet away.I have a very soft voice and sitting about a foot and a half from the camera I can be easily heard,which is saying alot considering I constantly have to repeat myself to others.

Even the pictures are nice,about the quality of a mid grade digital camera.It also comes with a stand if you don't want to clip it to your monitor.The stand is a light weight plastic and has a grip pad on the bottom for extra support.

All in all I am very happy with this webcam and reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a nice compact webcam with excellent resolution.

This unit is very well built and designed, worth the money. It adjusts to fit 7 to 10 inch tabs, and the rubber mount pads hold the tablet stable. The only issue I have is that the ball and socket pivot joint allows the unit to shake just a bit and that tends to rattle a bit while driving. Most mounts I've used still have this problem. It's not major, and if you find a soft pad to put between the tab and the seat you can reduce if not eliminate the issue.

Altogether suits my needs and I would buy again.

I've been using Palm PDAs for about five years now and wanted to upgrade to something new. I had seen the Zaurus 5500 and was going to purchase one before I heard that the 5600 was being released. The 5600 is fast, applications load quickly and the OS seems to be very stable. I haven't had anything crash yet. Setting up wireless networking with a CF card is trivial, plug the card in, run the network config application and type in your WEP key and you're on the net. Surfing with Opera is excellent, you can zoom in and out on web pages and I haven't found any pages that it won't display. I have yet to try the Hancom applications for reading and writing Word and Excel docs but everything else works very well. Now I just need to find an SSH client for it and I'll really be in business.

My first PDA was the Zaurus 5000D (developer version of this 5600). I really wanted to like it but it was limited on space for installing apps and I had trouble synching it with my Outlook. But enter the 5600... as soon as I heard it announced I had my eye on it and finally broke down and bought it. What a dream! Straight out of the box I plugged in my Linksys CF WAN card and in no time I was connected to my wireless network and surfing the net with the pre-installed Opera browser. I even checked and sent email. For about $ I was able to enter complete geek-dom and downloaded tkcJabber, an instant messenger package that connects to AIM, MSN, IRC and Yahoo chats. (this and many free software for the Zaurus are available at [website].) And within minutes I was chatting online as well.

The true test was then the synching feature. I installed the Intellisync software on my machine from the CD that came with my Zaurus, plugged in the docking station, put my Zaurus on there and hit the synch button. It all Synched without one problem! What a breeze!

The battery life on the 5600 is much improved over the 5000D and the 5500. Other things I love about the Zaurus: I can read and edit Word and Excel documents on it; can view PowerPoint presentations; the sliding QWERTY keyboard is convenient and, although it looks small and hard to use, it really is quite handy and easy to use. I also like the fact that you can use a compactflash card (CF) and/or a SecureDigital (SD) card. I could list more but I think my word limit is about up for this review! Bottomline: Highly recommend!

This device is almost perfect for the linux user who wants something smaller than his\her laptop. In order to appreciate this device, you really have to like linux. If you have never used linux, dont bother, get yourself an M$ windows pda.

If you're like me and love linux, you'll love the zaurus. You can get virtually all main stream linux apps for it (gcc, make, apache, mysql...the list goes on and on). I especially like that fact that it has a java runtime, and with the addition of compiler (try ibm's Jikes compiled for zaurus) you have a pocket java development environment.

The fact that it has CF and SD slots means you can have your wifi and your extra storage in at the same time, which is a great plus.

The fold out keyboard is slightly slower than a full size, but still light years ahead of stupid handwriting recognition on other devices (although the z has that too)

There are tons of different roms availible, from sharp and others. One that fixes the pxa250 cache errata is definatly required, as you may have heard this is a bug which affects performance. But if you flash with a special kernel it fixes this bug and allows you to clock the device up to 471 mhz! NICE!

The Only thing I would add to this device is a built in DOWNSTREAM usb port, so that you can plug in usb devices. A Compact flash Usb card is availible from ratoc (for $150). I bought that too and now i can connect external HD's, Gamepads, Keyboards, Extra Wifi's, and maybe even printers or cd burners.

While Pocket PC Users can say things like "my Ipaq is LIKE a pc!" The zaurus user can say "my zaurus IS a PC".

There really isnt anything you cant do on the zaurus since its a full linux OS.

I would whole heartedly reccomend this product to EVERY linux user

I've been looking for a replacement for my Visor Platinum for a while now, and this one caught my eye. Aside from the fact that this model carries a faster processor and a longer lasting battery compared to the 5500, the size of the unit "may" look identical from the face, but the extended battery comes with a small price. The back of the unit sticks out slightly to accomodate for the larger battery. It's still one of the most feature rich PDA's out there with a pretty impressive onboard speaker and microphone. Transferring files to the CF or SD memory cards is pretty "clunky" so purchasing a 6-in-1 type reader is the best way to go if you want to transfer larger files. I have had the Zaurus for 2 days. This device is simply amazing. Just a few things to mention

1) WI-FI support, I just plugin my Linksys wireless CF card, and it worked, on Pocket PC, I had to install software.

2) The wirelsss connection and the browser work great. On Pocket PC, the buggy MS software frequently quit working for no reason, and I had to reset the Pocket PC unit. The Linux based Zaurus is rock soild.

3) The USB syncing is reliable. The Pocket PC won't even work via the USB hub, you have to connect it directly to a USB port. Furthermore, activesync frequently stops working, and I had to reboot both the PC and PDA.

Now let me tell you something I have done:

1) installed OpenSSH onto the unit. After that, I leave the unit downstairs, upstairs using a notebook I wirelessly sshed into the PDA, it's just another UNIX server, at the bash promopt, I use wget to download a bunch of files from the net, including PERL, APACHE, and MYSQL. MySQL is only a few hundred kilio bytes, I created a few tables and run some SQL queries. Great!

2) Installed a VNC server on the PDA, then on my PC I use vncviewer to connect to the PDA, the PDA screen shows up on the PC, and I can remotely operate it via its GUI interface.

On the net, I found all sorts of applications ported to Zaurus, even including things like XFfree86 and Courier-mail server. Maybe we should do some web and mail benchmarking on this 400MHZ device.

In conclusion, this PDA is a true Linux machine with a small keyboard and screen that can be put in your pocket, you can use it to listen to mp3, browser web or serve web and email.....or whatever open source.

This is a good choice. I just received and started using these DVD's. Normally, I use the Verbatim brand for the quality. They are a little pricey, though. To my surprise, the Alaratec brand quality is just as good for a better price.

Used the Aleratec DVD-R disks in an Aleratec 1 to 1 copy system. Even the software was supplied by Aleratec. The disk failure rate is about 20% -an expensive proposition since I use about 1-200 disks a month. Still looking for a more reliable DVD-R!!!
