NeatDesk Desktop Scanner and Digital Filing System- Macintosh

NeatDesk Desktop Scanner and Digital Filing System- Macintosh
  • Transform paper into information that works
  • Automatically extracts key information from scanned receipts; can export to Quicken, Excel, and pdf
  • Scans are IRS-accepted digital copies, making tax preparation a snap
  • Scan up to 10 receipts, 10 business cards and 10 documents at once or a single, 50 page document
  • Developed for OS X to look and feel like the applications you use every day

I purchased a NeatDesk scanner awhile ago to answer a growing need at home for more robust scanning. I'm one of those people that needs to have everything neatly filed away even though I will probably never see it again. I also religiously enter all my personal receipts and track my personal finances in detail. This seemed the perfect product to answer both needs.

I was used to the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 that I have at work, but in addition to an arm they also wanted a leg. The price of the NeatDesk is substantially less (about 40% for what I paid), and the promotional material for the scanning software was really sexy. So I clicked buy.

After a few days, my conclusion is that although it could be an outstanding product with a couple of tweaks, it's just not ready for primetime. This may be the case of a small company working on tight margins with a product that got too big too fast. It remains to be seen whether or not they can keep up with their new-found popularity.

Here's the dirt:

Hardware:

Good Stuff

Attractive design.

You can click the hardware "Scan" button all day, but you don't have to file your scans until you want to.

Bad Stuff

No adjustable paper guide. Unless you hold it as it's sucked in, every single document is crooked.

Not enough paper support. Creased documents (like a bill) flop back and aren't grabbed properly.

I found the slot for receipts and documents to not match any receipt or document I had... Nice slot for business cards though.

The output tray is not attached to the scanner body. Huh?

It came with the grim spectre of having to clean and calibrate your scanner. You don't have to clean or calibrate the ScanSnap, although the ScanSnap does include "consumables", so maybe it's a tie.

Software:

Good Stuff

Recognizes dates, subtotal, sales tax, and credit card used. This alone almost makes the product an overall winner and definitely put it on top for scanning receipts.

As mentioned above, you don't have to file away your scans until you want to.

Extremely fast search.

It's pretty--yeah, that's important.

Bad Stuff

Always takes the scan from the front but from the sheet in the back, which may be more intuitive for the beginner, but also means that a stack of double-sided sheets will go into the software backwards (page 2, 1, 4, 3, etc.) so you'll have to sort your document before and after scanning. Maybe I just haven't figured this one out, but it does seem like they emphasis multiple single-page documents vs. one multiple-page document.

* UPDATE: I figured out that you have to put the document in face up and everything is scanned in from the last page to the front. Your physical document will come out sorted, and the software will reverse the order of the scanned pages for you so the electronic document is correct.

Does not auto-rotate to fix crooked problem caused by not having adjustable paper guides.

Does not do auto-color detection--it's either all black-and-white or all color and you must choose. Those "Scan" and "PDF" buttons on the front are great, but you have to go into the Quick Scan application to set up how everything will be scanned first, defeating the convenience.

Viewing the documents that are in the library is difficult. Should have a simple hand-tool for dragging and allow multiple documents to be open at one time.

Moving data around the library is laborious.

Software installs SQL Server Express, which takes up system resources and at least for me causes the program to not want to start up (try again message a couple of times before starting). Sure the search results come back very quickly, but at what cost? As a developer, I actually already had SQL Server Express installed, but it went ahead and installed another instance... Not very nice.

Lots of opportunities to categorize data, but searching for the categories is difficult. For example, to see what you marked for follow up click "Advanced Search", click "Looking at..." and select "Action Type", click "Selected in the List", click and check box that says "Follow Up". It's more work finding out what's marked "follow up" than to actually follow up.

The heavy emphasis is on recording receipts for expenses that will be reimbursed by your employer or be tax deductible. So what happens when I have a pay stub for consulting work? I have to file it as a document where I can't tag it's dollar amount, can't tag it as 1099 income, and it can't be exported to Quicken. That's one of the main reasons I got the scanner.

Categories for receipts are very limited. Need a split? You'll have to do it yourself when you get to Quicken if you can remember what the receipt was for. Sales tax is always exported as an over-generalized "State Tax".

How it Could (Easily) be Made Great

Package in or sell another paper guide that is adjustable. You can use the same snap-in style that is used for the receipt/business card guide.

Add one inch to the pull-out paper support.

Update the software to take scans from the face down position first on double-sided scans. Take the scan from the face down position only in single-sided scans.

* UPDATE: Even though this way seems more intuitive to me, the way the software does it is okay (see update above).

Add in auto-color detection and auto-rotate so that scans always come out right. If Neat Co can do awesome text-detection, they could do this.

Conclusion

Seems to be an innovative company so I'll keep it in anticipation of at least the software updates.

UPDATE After 2 Years: After having owned this product for a good while I have to say it's worked fairly well for what it is. During this time I made the switch to a Mac and the Mac version of the NeatWorks software was a huge improvement. (From what I understand, the PC software seems to have caught up somewhat.) For the most part it has done what I want it to: scan a few receipts for expense reports but mostly documents of 10 pages or less. I tried to scan my mortgage documents of about 60 pages, but it kept grabbing multiple pages. I had to scan in batches and grab a beer (darn).

It still does weird things though. For example, sometimes it will scan and not fully eject the document and after a moment will display blinking red lights. Other times it will whisk the document through and the document ends up with a large black area at the top.

At the end of the day, for the casual home user who doesn't mind taking a little extra time to scan, this is probably a best buy. For the business user who will frequently be scanning large documents, the Fujitsu products will probably be a better fit, especially since their price is now a lot closer to the NeatDesk.

Buy NeatDesk Desktop Scanner and Digital Filing System- Macintosh Now

I went to the store looking for the Neat Receipts scanner, and I came across this new product. I could not be more happy for buying it! I had 4 years worth of credit card and bank statements piled up in boxes, and with this scanner system I was able to scan them and organize them on my computer in less than a day (I'm talking hundreds of pages).

I have absolutely no complaints on this (other than the price, which is high, but it is a new product and it will come down).

The scanner can read 2 sided documents and scan both sides, in color! And it does it fast.

It also reads receipts and business cards and extracts the information from them (such as what store the receipt is from, how much total was, how much tax was, date of transaction, etc...) The best part about this feature is that it lets you edit the information (sometimes necessary if the receipt was very worn or wrinkled.

The software is extremely easy to use and very powerful. A great feature about the scanner/software is that you can load a bunch of pages and start scanning them. While they scan you can work on filing other documents. Once the pages are scanned they go into a sort of "inbox" where they wait for you to look at them and decide where to file them.

The two sided, color scanning is great and very fast. Another convenient feature the program has is the ability to combine several pages into one document. All you do is click on the different pages while holding down control and click combine ... and you have one file for a multi page document!

All the files you scan into the program are searchable, so you can enter a search term and it will bring up all the documents (or receipts or business cards, depending on which section you are searching in). Very handy to search back on when you bought something...

Another great feature for those that do not receive paper statements is the pdf import feature! If you get your statements from online, you can still import the file into the program (as if you had scanned it in yourself) and have the searchable capabilites of the other files.

Keep in mind, this is probably not a good scanner to scan pictures with, but for a document scanner, it is fast, and very good. I just hope it lasts the wear and tear I'm subjecting it to right now. I am very thankful that this product has helped me get rid of all of my paper clutter!!!

This scanner is marketed to small businesses, and while I do not happen to run one of those, it does appear to be a really nice item for organizing business expenses. Since I am very fond of 'tech' of all sorts, I offered to test and review this item.

The description says it does not support 64 bit windows, and in fact the included installer CD refused to run on my 64 bit system. Not to worry though, if you go to their web site (www.neatco.com) you can download a 64 bit version. It installs a database as well as the scanner software. There is a special piece of paper in the package which is used to calibrate the scanner, and the documentation recommends occasional recalibration, which means you need to NOT lose the paper. I am not sure what you'd do if you lost it...I guess ask them to send you another one.

The NeatWorks software is really nifty. It interprets the scanned documents, and if they are receipts, it picks out dollar amounts for later use in expense reports. I did not have any business cards to try, but the application will scan them and produce an update to several types of 'contact list' that you might use. There is also an option to choose to file an item as a 'document' which means it is largely uninterpreted (though you can do text searches on them. One suggestion made by the developer is that you file recipes as documents so they can be searched for ingredient lists).

I wanted to give this scanner a good test, so I fed in a bunch of stuff just to see how it would be handled. My results:

1) I fed in a grocery receipt that had been folded a few times but wasn't badly crumpled. This was handled just fine, and the software was easily able to pick out the correct dollar totals. It even figured out that the receipt was for groceries and tagged it as such.

2) An Amazon purchase receipt that was in the box from a network hard drive I recently purchased. This scanned correctly as 'hardware' but the software read the dollar sign on the total as a '1' and thus added a thousand dollars to the purchase amount! Yow! Luckily, this is simple to fix in the application and you are in fact prompted to verify the numbers before they are filed in the database.

3) A receipt from a recent American Airlines flight to Texas. The application did read it as an 'airline' expense, but the dollar totals were completely misread. Again, I fixed them easily.

4) A receipt from a recent trip to Best Buy. If you've seen BB receipts lately, these are receipts with an attitude! They've got a lot of 'stuff' printed on them, advertisements, phone numbers, etc. The scanner processed this perfectly and the software read everything correctly.

5) For chuckles, I fed in a MegaMillion lottery ticket (a loser, sadly). This ticket had really light print on a colored background, and of course it had numbers everywhere. Not surprisingly, the software was completly flummoxed by this one. I filed it under 'documents'.

6) How about a 20 dollar bill? It scanned perfectly, and the software indicated it was 'cash' (hee hee) but did not indicate the denomination.

7) Since I was testing it, I decided to do something of a stress test. I took a longish grocery receipt and I crumpled that sucker up BADLY. Then I flattened it out as best I could and fed it in. For good measure, as the paper disappeared into the scanner, my cat leapt onto the desk and whacked it. Now THAT is a test... This receipt did not fare well at all. It was completely chewed up and caught in the scanner mechanism. I was afraid I'd done some damage but I picked out the pieces and then got the last of it out of the works by scanning a blank piece of paper. This jam-clearing exercise was simple to do, since the scanner top pops open at the push of a button to allow access to the internals. The scanner was undamaged and I fed in another document, which processed just fine.

Now I tried out some of the software options...

Once the receipts were in the scanner database, there were numerous export options. I exported to a MS Word document and got a very nice 'expense report'. An export to Excel gave me an xls file that produced a nice spreadsheet.

My final scans really tested the NeatWorks interpretive software, and that application exhibited a level of functionality that might be an indication of why this scanner is so expensive. I tore a page out of a paperback book (the 'about the author' page at the end, because it contained two different font sizes and some bolding) and scanned it in as a document. Then I exported it to a PDF and opened that PDF in Adobe reader. I exported it to a text file and it was a perfect text representation of the words on the page! I could wish it had the option to export to MS Word format because I can't begin to afford Adobe Acrobat...

I then printed out an adobe document I already had on my system, a knitting pattern with smallish text and color pictures. I scanned the printed document back in and then used the NeatWorks software to export it to PDF. I ended up with a PDF that looks really close to the original, allowing for some quality loss from printing the color images.

All in all, I liked this scanner and as I said, if I were running a small business, I'd find it really useful. It's also really nice for folks who scan in regular documents because it saves them in a handy database for later searching or printing.

The newly added 64 bit support means this will be my 'main' scanner in the future.

I really really really wanted to like this scanner. I received the unit on Friday and had planned on spending Saturday scanning in all my documents and then relaxing on Sunday. I am sooooo disappointed with the quality of the scans and software when scanning in documents like car insurance or doctors statements that I am sending it back.

The main issue is that the manufacture's web site states that the scanner can scan grayscale and B/W documents in at a rate of 25 PPM. This is an outright lie on one level and a stretching of the truth on another level.

First let me start off with the truth stretching. The scanner is very fast while scanning in B/W images but it did not seam like it was 25 PPM fast so I timed it using a stop watch. I was able to scan in a page (two sides) in 6.4 seconds that's 10 PPM not 25! As Fujitsu rates their ScanSnap S1500M at 20 PPM whether you scan one or two sides, I assumed I would see the NeatDesk scanner do the same. Thinking that they (NeatCo) must have been playing with some slick marketing numbers when they came up with the 25 PPM rate I figured I would see the 10 PPM rate double to 20 if I only scanned one side of a page instead of two. I was very disappointed to see that the rate did not change between one or two sides. Normally I would think that 10 PPM is a very quick scan, which it is, but it is more than half as fast as advertised.

That was the truth stretching now onto the lie.

My main complaint is not the scan rate of B/W or grayscale scans. I would be very happy with a 10 PPM grayscale document scanner. The problem is that the scanner / software package does NOT scan in grayscale. The scanner DOES send the images to my iMac in GRAYSCALE and then the horrible software converts it to B/W. Yes you heard me right! They take a perfectly legible (8 bit, 256 levels of black) grayscale image and turn it into a very poor quality B/W (2 bit, 2 color) illegible image. I can't for the life of me understand why they would do such a thing.

If you are only interested in scanning in receipts, which by their nature are only black and white, then you might be happy with the software. Unfortunately about 95% of the stuff I wanted to scan is various types of documents / kids school work / insurance papers / medical records etc. If you have ever looked at these kinds of documents you will notice that most of them have shaded areas on the page that highlight important text. These shaded areas, along with the text, usually become unreadable when converted to B/W. Not only can I not able to read them the OCR can't detect them either. It makes me angry to see a scan show up on the screen that looks GREAT only to have it destroyed a few seconds later by the software as it converts it to black and white.

I contacted NeatCo about the ability to scan to grayscale. Their support person was very nice and polite; unfortunately she confirmed for me that the software does not support grayscale. Her response is at the end of the review.

You may think that I should just scan in color. Unfortunately scanning in color is very slow. A color scan took 15 seconds for a single sided page and 27.5 seconds for a single 2-sided page (weird that color scans do double the time for 2 sides unlike the BW option). At this rate it puts color scans in at 2 PPM not the 8.5 reported on their web site. At 2 PPM it will take me several hundred hours to scan everything I need to scan.

The quality of color scans is very good if you are willing to wait 30 seconds for a single 2-sided scan.

Here are my timing results for the BW, color, 1 side and 2 sided document. All times are for a single sheet of paper.

Page Sides | Color Mode |Time to Scan |Total time to scan & OCR 1st page

1 | Color | 15 sec | 52 sec

2 | color | 27 sec | 1:15 (m:sec)

1 | BW | 6.4 sec | 36 sec

2 | BW | 6.5 sec | 40 sec

Just for reference I have a late 2008 24'' iMac with 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 gigs of ram. I have also updated the NeatDesk software to their latest version as of 10/30/2009 which is 2.1.9

I have taken some screen shots of the grayscale images before they are converted to BW and will try to post them to Amazon. In the screen shots you can see that the initial image looks very nice. If NeatCo fixes this issue the package might be worth a look.

Here is the NeatCo response to my grayscale question.

Response (Campbell) 10/29/2009 08:45 PM

Hi Chris,

There's no way to set to scan in a gray scale at this time. I will put in a feature request to our developers so they can include this capability in future releases.

I know they usually go away over a few days, but still to have just 2 to start with was extraordinary.

SanDisk is the only brand of flashcard, in my experience, with using them for my embroidery machine. They always retain all of the designs I have downloaded on them & this brand of flashcard ALWAYS works in my embroidery machine. I have had trouble with other brands including losing 100 designs on one card! Recently, I tried formatting a different brand for my embroidery machine & it would not take it. SanDisk is definitely a cut above the rest!

  • Silver color 3 in 1 stylus pen.
  • Batteries included: LR41 Batteries X 3
  • Compatible with Apple iPad, iPhone 4G/3G/3GS, iPod and any tablets or smartphone
  • Light weight Aluminum body.Dimension: 4.75" inch
  • Clip design for easy storage, can be clipped in your pocket, book, diary, etc

I can't imagine teaching without this thing anymore. I use the laser pointer light for everything from actually pointing things out to my kiddos, to just getting their attention when they're slacking off. The flashlight has come in handy, as well; it's hard for a second grader to tie his shoes in the dark during a movie. Finally, the stylus keeps my iPad from getting quite so covered in fingerprints for longer time, and really allows me to use some of the apps with more precision than my big fat fingers. This thing is awesome!

This case is great, but if you have a Kindle Fire HD, make sure you get the one for HD (ie, not this one!) That's my fault though for not reading the product description carefully. Cost was $5.99, but it will cost me $7 to return it for a refund so I'll likely just give it away or maybe modify it to add a notebook or something. It's fairly well made, but we obviously haven't used it because our HD model does not fit this case.

Sportline 860 Reflective Sports Armband

Sportline 860 Reflective Sports ArmbandI bought the Sportline Armband from Wal-Mart (not knowing Amazon had it at the time of my impulse buying). This is GREAT for my 8GB Zen. My Zen is the size of a credit card and about 0.6 inches thick. I have my Zen inside of its silicone cover and then I slipped it snuggly inside of this Armband. The earphone hole lines up with the opening in the fabric. The USB hole doesn't line up with a hole, but I still fit mine in through the earphone hole and guide it to the USB connection...you can see it real good through the clear window.

The armband doesn't lay out flat like my other armband...it has an elastic joining piece so that when you put it on your arm it is secured as you pull the velcro together (no trying to pin it down with your arm while you tighten in order to not drop everything). It's so nice that I just keep my Zen in the armband. It also props up when it is not being worn, so I can watch the screen without holding the player. It has 2 pockets too...one zippered and one "hidden" velcro pocket. I put my headset in one and probably could put cash, key, I.D., etc. in each pocket too. The pockets are real roomy and everything is real stretchy and soft.

If I have to mention something negative...I noticed, when I was exercising at the gym, that a little moisture (from body heat) built up on each end of the Armband under the plastic window. This is after about 2 hours of straight exercise, though. It didn't damage my player...I just reached through the opening and wiped the moisture away. Not a big deal, and it doesn't get all over...just a little on the ends.

I like this product so much that I may buy another one for fear that they may stop making these for some odd reason...you know how that is when they have a good thing and then discontinue. Anyway, I hope my review helped you make a decision.

I found it difficult to strap to my arm, but I like the two stretchy storage pockets, one zippered and one with a velcro closure.

Buy Sportline 860 Reflective Sports Armband Now

It was nearly impossible to attach this to my arm by myself. The velcro is on two separate straps that need to be overlapped. It should be designed to have one strap that runs through a loop and then velcros to itself.

Read Best Reviews of Sportline 860 Reflective Sports Armband Here

I needed an armband for by Transcend player to use at the gym because the player came with just a silicone cover and a neck strap (talk about skimping on accessories!). This armband fits the bill. Things I like about it are:

easy to adjust armband with a stretchy strap that connects both sides to keep them in close proximity, making the Velcro easier to engage. It also adjusts large enough to fit my husbands 14" biceps.

two stretchy storage pockets, one zippered and one with a Velcro closure. Either one easily holds my JVC ear buds while still in the travel case.

central compartment easily holds my player while it is still in the silicone cover

it has an opening on the bottom of the main compartment to fit headphone jacks for most players.

The one drawback, the top of the main compartment does not have a closure. It is just a slot to slip the player into. If the band was shaken while upside down the player could slip out. This issue can be overcome by leaving headphones with an L connector plugged into the player at all times. Personally, I haven't found it to be much of an inconvenience.

Want Sportline 860 Reflective Sports Armband Discount?

I wonder if these come in sizes. The three i ordered were much too tight on my arm. I could only close the velcro if the pouch is empty. Obviously, there's no point in wearing this while it's empty! With an electronic device in the pouch, regardless of the size of the device, i could never close the velcro straps. I am under 6 feet tall, medium build. Maybe these will work fine for a petite little lady, but it's far too small for even an average male.

SanDisk Extreme 8 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card (SDSDRX3-8192-A21)

SanDisk Extreme 8 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card
  • 8GB Capacity
  • Minimum 20MB/ sec sequential read/write speeds
  • Speed performance rating - Class 10 (based on SD 2.0 specification)
  • Extended temperature tested - -13º F to 185º F (-25ºC - 85ºC)

I'm using this card (with the associated reader) with my Canon XSI. While the speed of the card exceeds the requirements of the camera, the fast read speed is a real boon when I need to move hundreds of RAW image files to my PC. The included reader is required for this, as the SD reader in my PC cannot handle this SDHC card. Very happy, I love the fast read speed this card supports.

For the professional photographer or the serious (obsessed) amateur this card is a must buy. You really can't beat the price/value ratio here. This is a fully certified Class 6 card which ensures a data read/write of 20MB/s (Class 6 is the fastest type in the SDHC profile). In fact I like these cards so much this is my second one, I have a 4GB of the same kind. If you use it with a point-and-shoot camera this will definitely be overkill but you can rest assured that it won't let you down. Great product by SanDisk.

Note: Most of us know this is a SDHC card not a regular SD. Regular SD cards are limited to 2GB, if you see a SD card that states a higher capacity be aware that it is essentially a "hack" and the card will not be reliable. I've read horror stories of entire projects gone down the drain because of those cards. 4GB and above will always have to be SDHC; therefore they will be capable of working ONLY with SDHC compatible devices.

I have several other Extreme III cards and they are great. I use on in a Panasonic Lumix FZ-50 digital camaera, and it works great in burst mode shooting. Sice the card is SDHC format, you need the included card reader when using on a computer to copy files. Small price to pay for high capacity, fast write speeds. Excellent product.

I've waited for quite some time for this chip to come down in price! If you shoot much in raw mode then you need this! I originally bought the 2gb version of this when I bought my Pentax K10d 10megapixel. With the 2gb chip I didn't take too many photos in raw mode due to it only allowed a little over 100 shots. With the 8gb chip the camera shows room for almost 500 shots but that is not entirely accurate because not every shot is the max size of 16mb so you actually get more than what the camera says you will get. On top of all of this, this chip is the fastest I've been able to find that will keep up with the continuous shot feature. I usually get 8 or 9 shots without any delay before it slows down. My camera takes 3 hots per second so I get three seconds of fast action shooting. After a few seconds of saving all those I can start all over again. I use my 2gb for backup now just in case I fill the 8gb up. I have yet to need to use my backup chip!

These are expensive but worth it if you need a true high speed card for trouble free HD video work. If you're just shooting still pics, or lower resolution video, this card is likely overkill and the SanDisk Ultra (Class 4) is plenty fast. The exception would be a D-SLR shooting rapid bursts of stills in RAW mode where this card would likely speed things up. But for shooting JPGs, or anything but full 1080HD video, you're unlikely to notice any difference between this card and the Ultra.

If you read the reviews here, and elsewhere, you'll find lots of frustrated people who got an error recording 1080HD several minutes into a video. Sometimes their card ended up corrupted, and in some cases, they even lost EVERYTHING on the card. That can happen when you use a card that can't keep up with your camera.

While it's rated Class 6, the Extreme is far faster in testing than even most Class 10 cards from other companies. Using ATTO-DISK, the same benchmark software some of the pros use, this card clocks in around 30MB/sec write speeds (class 6 cards only have to meet a minimum of 6MB/sec).

There are also some in-camera tests published that show SanDisk Ultra to be among the fastest. Plus you know SanDisk will honor the 30 year warranty unlike some of the no-name cards.

Most Class 6 cards I've tested, including those from Transcend, Lexar and Kingston, only manage 10MB/sec 15MB/sec on the exact same benchmark. So this SanDisk Extreme card is 5X faster than the spec, and 2X 3X faster than competing Class 6 cards. But it does cost more.

Also, for what it's worth, I've had cards from Transcend and A-Data fail. But I've never had a SanDisk or Kingston card fail despite getting heavier use. If you're shooting pics/video that are difficult (or impossible) to replace, it's worth spending more on a quality card.

WARNING: Anything you put this card in (camera, PC, card reader, etc.) has to be SDHC compatible (usually it will say SDHC on it). Most things made in the last few years are, but not all. If you have a cheaper or older device that doesn't support SDHC, you're limited to a maximum size of 2GB. If you put a larger SDHC card into an older SD-only device, you could corrupt the card and lose everything on it.

So it's best to experiment to make sure your device, PC, etc. are all SDHC compatible before you fill the card up with irreplaceable images/video only to lose everything by plugging this 8GB card into your 4 year old PC's 2GB reader.

Exogear Exomount Tablet Car Mount For iPad 1 2 3 Galaxy Tab 7 Kindle Fire Cradle Stand Holder & tabl

Exogear Exomount Tablet Car Mount For iPad 1 2 3 Galaxy Tab 7 Kindle Fire Cradle Stand Holder & tablets up to 10.1'
  • Multi-tilt and angle rotation supported
  • Vertical height adjustment supports most 7" to 10.1" tablets
  • Multi-positioning of tablet arm offers versatile viewing options
  • Light-weight and compact, folds for easy storage
  • Color: Black

This unit is very well built and designed, worth the money. It adjusts to fit 7 to 10 inch tabs, and the rubber mount pads hold the tablet stable. The only issue I have is that the ball and socket pivot joint allows the unit to shake just a bit and that tends to rattle a bit while driving. Most mounts I've used still have this problem. It's not major, and if you find a soft pad to put between the tab and the seat you can reduce if not eliminate the issue.

Altogether suits my needs and I would buy again.

Hausbell (TM) Mini H7 2.4GHz Wireless Entertainment Keyboard with Touchpad for PC, Pad, Andriod TV B

Hausbell Mini H7 2.4GHz Wireless Entertainment Keyboard with Touchpad for PC, Pad, Andriod TV Box, Google TV Box, Xbox360, PS3 & HTPC/IPTVI needed something smaller than a wireless keyboard and mouse for the couch and my newly constructed pc theater. for the price and the features this is the best deal. It comes with a receiver the size of a thumb nail and a cord to charge the device. If you want the maximum range be sure the receiver is plugged into a front usb port. The red transmit LED (that lights up everytime a key is pressed or the touchpad is used) should be either dimmed or moved to the top\side\back of the device. I don't need to see it light up this often it is annoying. Other than that the clicking sound of each key press isn't to bad it's actually quite comforting. I would not get this device if you're going to be doing anything other than adding convenience for light use but that doesn't mean this device doesn't do everything a normal wireless kb and mouse does. It has custom buttons and media buttons. With Windows xp and 7 it required no additional software downloads. Plug and go. Thanks for the awesome product.

Just received my unit. Packaging was sturdy, manual wasn't the best translation but not bad, the keyboard itself is PERFECT! It's light but sturdy and feels good in my hands. Plugged the adapter in my linux (zorin os 6) netbook and it works fine right off the bat. No set up, installation, or fuss. Touchpad is responsive and even the special function keys all work. I highly recommend this for any htpc or casual use setup!

So I did a little research online on the wireless mini keyboards and saw that a few of them offer the same features, bla blah blah...so being skeptical, I decided to go with the Hausbell, 14.99 you cant go wrong...if its a bad product, I just lost 15 bucks, if its good, I will buy it for my other systems at home...the other mini keyboards go for around $25-$45 dollars so from the get go, I was not expecting much from this...I received the order in about 1 week with free shipping and tested out the first day I got it. I was shocked how well it works. I haven't tried the other mini keyboards, but I dont care for it as:

1)the price is half of what the others cost

2)its does the job...It does all that I want a mini wireless keyboard to do.

That is all...I dont write much reviews...but this is a steal for the price. XP and Windows 7 is just plug and play , no driver installation needed. The key baord is big enough so you can type with minimal mistakes. There is a reason why this product is getting all 5 stars..it works well..it works really well for the price.

I especailly like the pad...on the let side, you can navigate the mouse, on the immediate right, is a cool scroll feature...Any issues, I will try to update here.

I can not speak of longevity.. But, I've been using the device for a few days now and I am very satified. I have seen other such devices being compared to more expensive, high end devices and that is incorrect. If your looking for something that is cheap and works. Then I recommend it. Light, not much bigger than a cell phone, and takes a bit to get used too. Unless you use qwerty kb's often. Has worked on Linux & Windows7 without issue.. Will edit review if any of this changes in the near future.. hope this helps...

Definitely the best mini keyboard on the market. Rubber keys have a nice feel and don't stick like the cheap plastic keys of other keyboards.

Want OEM Motorola Q Extended Battery + Black Cover Door NEW Q Discount?

I'll be the first one to admit my old Motorola Q is in it's golden years. Harder to find quality pieces, and especially in my black colors. But, they had it, in stock, and brand new.

Phone running perfectly, again, and with a black cover. All that, without mentioning how much I saved on the price. Order with confidence, and enjoy.

After Verizon had no clue, I found my battery solution on line. And I wouldn't have thought of getting the new battery cover so I appreciate the bundle. Not as strong as my original long-life battery, but much better than a dead one. And so much cheaper than a new phone.

Tuff-Luv Enhanced Polycarb Crystal Case for (Sony PSP-3000)

Tuff-Luv Enhanced Polycarb Crystal Case forI had my doubts about this when I bought it, but it's turned out to be very useful.

It fits over the psp like a glove (and it doesn't scratch the psp!) and after about three months all the scratches that could have ruined my PSP were evident, so it obviously works.

Pros:

1. Slim; so it doesn't look ridiculous.

2. Little door in the back makes it so you don't have to take the whole case off to load a game in the cartridge.

3. It covers the screen!

Cons:

1. The latch that keeps the door in the back closed broke on one side after a while, but it still closes.

2. It truly does take damage, which is the whole point, but I'm sure in four more months I'll have to buy a new one.

If you're an adult and you don't drop expensive electronics and handle them with care, this is a good case for you. Putting this in a jacket, pants pocket, suitcase, etc really doesn't take up much more room than the PSP3000 itself. I've dropped it out of a bag onto a counter and it made a horrible sound but no damage to case or PSP. It does scratch like all cases, but that is the point, so you don't scratch the real thing. Lid that flips open to put games in is durable but does look like a kid could easily break it. So far it's the best case I've used for my little do it all toy.

Great product and great quality. I would give 3 stars because the parts can be hard to snap together, for umd door especially. But other than having to occasionally having to clean inside the case for dust its a cool case.

I have had this case for over a year, and recently brought a second one. The first one has "bumps" but has protected my PSP in my bag, falling out of my pocket onto concrete, and from day to day wear. I have had others ask me where I got it, and have a spare case, with spare headphones for just in case.

Money well worth it.

Product came almost a week early, and in EXCELLENT condition.

I have had others in the past, but this case has been the best one for me, because it fits the PSP 3000 so well.

ADATA 16 GB Micro SDHC Card Class 6 with SD Adaptor AUSDH16GCL6-RA1

ADATA 16 GB Micro SDHC Card Class 6 with SD Adaptor AUSDH16GCL6-RA1
  • Micro to SDHC adapter included
  • Guaranteed write speed of at least 6MB/s
  • Compatible with full size SDHC devices (with use of included adapter)
  • Lifetime Warranty Guaranteed

I bought the A-Data 16GB Class 6 MicroSDHC card as an upgrade for my Sandisk 8GB Class 4 MicroSDHC card. I wanted to stick with Sandisk but noticed that most Sandisk 16GB MicroSDHC cards available at the time of this writing have a Class 2 rating. I went with A-Data since theirs have a Class 6 speed rating.

I tested transfer speeds using a Sandisk MobileMate MicroSDHC USB reader plugged into a Windows 7 PC transferring a single 992MB file. Results are shown below:

Sandisk Class 4 8GB MicroSDHC card:

Write: ~75 seconds (13.2MB/sec)

Read: ~50 seconds (19.8MB/sec)

A-Data Class 6 16GB MicroSDHC card:

Write: ~126 seconds (7.8MB/sec)

Read: ~64 seconds (15.5MB/sec)

The Sandisk Class 4 8GB MicroSDHC card is significantly faster and clearly surpasses it's minimum speed requirement for a Class 4 rating. I'm curious to see how fast the Sandisk 16GB Class 2 and Class 4 MicroSDHC cards perform and if the slower data transfer speed observed on the A-Data 16GB MicroSDHC card is common across all manufacturers with their 16GB MicroSDHC cards.

Buy ADATA 16 GB Micro SDHC Card Class 6 with SD Adaptor AUSDH16GCL6-RA1 Now

Although the review posted by the person who timed transfer speed of this card against the Class 4 Sandisk card looks damning, it is important to remember that single-file transfer speed is not always the most important criterion when considering a card like this one. Potentially more important, particularly on a larger card like this, is random seek and latency figures. On larger cards, it can take significantly longer to locate the file that's being looked for, since there simply is more to be searched. A higher-rated card should have a random seek time small enough to not interfere with the card's ability to achieve the rated speed. Without seek and latency data, such comparisons are almost useless.

I am using this card on my rooted T-Mobile MyTouch, and am very happy with the performance. Since one of the things I'm using it for is to offload apps from internal memory onto the sd card and run them from there, there are a lot of small reads taking place all the time, making seek time critical in my case. I don't have any figures on seek or latency time, but I can say the performance has been very satisfactory.

So far so good. I am using this for the T-Mobile G-1. I have put video podcast from Itunes, an assortment of movies in it's entirety, about 8gb of music, pictures, you name it. It might be a 2-3 second lag wile starting up what you want to watch as far as video, but after that I had no problems. Grant it I am not that computer savvy, but this is a good card, at least for right now until other cards of your likeing come down off of their prices. So G-1 users I don't speak for all of the G-1 users, but this card works very well with the G-1. In October I heard that the new G-1 is coming out so this card will be a welcomed addition or until a 32gb comes out. Give it a try.

A-Data is one of the major flash RAM manufacturers from Taiwan. Their claim to fame was their excellent performance to cost ratio. They seemed to have continued this tradition.

I needed a larger SDHC card for my Panasonic LX3, which also shoots HD video and raw photos, demanding high transfer rate and large storage capacity. When I found this package for a bargain price I took the bite, as it is also a micro SDHC format for uses with smart phones and PDA devices, among an increasing list of other miniaturized electronics that are adopting to this now universal standard (olympus and sony just abandoned their xD and memory stick on their latest crop of products/cameras). There is no premium for this versatility as other standard sized SDHC cards sold for about the same price if not more at the time of my purchase.

Frustration free package (see uploaded photos) is just a brown envelope with the manufacturer packaged hard case inside holding the adapter and the card itself. I believe the packaging is sufficiently protective. Amazon actually put this brown envelop into another small shipping box. It is probably not necessary, but I appreciate Amazon's taking extra precautions.

The microSDHC card looks well made, fresh off the press with no scratch or smudges, and printed digits. It fits very snugly into the SD sized adapter, that you have to push a little harder to get it in. There's no wiggle or shakes after it sits into the slot. Nothing feels flimsy about this package, which probably should be the par but often isn't.

Transfer rate also performed as expected. I have a sustained rate of over 6MB/sec during download transfers. There has been no problems using it with the LX3 by downloading straight from the camera's USB port, or using a SDHC card reader. I have experienced no problems (yet) and the card had been reliable, while providing the responsiveness (cycle time between RAW capture is negligent compared to a slower class 4 or even a class 2 card) and transfer speed (for large HD video files) that I seek.

There's not much one needs to do for a flash ram other than its reliability, functionality, and durability/build quality. This card apparently delivered on these fronts, while providing the dual-format versatility, at a price I can feel happy about. It's a little better than I expected, actually.

Addendum: Benchmark results for the card I received, obtained by using FDBENCH software using built in card reader on a Thinkpad X61s:

***** FDBENCH Ver 1.02 (C)2003-2007 ep82kazu *****

Drive D:\

Drive Size 100MB

Disk Read Write RRead RWrite (KByte/s)

10252 13615 10128 13233 4031

Copy 2k 32k 256k 1MB (Operations/min)

4054 7260 6288 2040 630

Copy 2k 32k 256k 1MB (Kbyte/Sec)

3923 161 2243 5861 7426

The read/write speed for contiguous files as demonstrated are well above class 6 speeds (6000KB/s). RRead/RWrite are random read write speeds. Apparently more fragmented the file the slower the transfer rate, which is also normal. For your reference only, as there are probably room for error depending on testing hardware and production batches.

I bought this card because A-Data is known to provide the best bang for the buck (in other words, great performance with an economic pricing). There were overall good reviews on Newegg about the card. Beware though, the card that Amazon ships you is not the A-Data 8GB TURBO microsdhc Class 6, but rather the regular A-Data 8GB microsdhc Class 6. Thus, Read/Write speeds are slightly slower than the Turbo version. This is also the case if you select Amazon Frustration Free packaging. Free space is actually a little less than 8GB (7.7GB) when popped into my Nokia E63 phone, but otherwise, it works fine with the smartphone. It comes pre-formatted to FAT-32 system.

Some stats for the card (Taken from the packaging):

Approx number of photos

6MP camera 3812

8MP camera 2318

10MP camera 1618

12MP camera 1354

Approx minutes of video

6Mbps HD 135

9Mbps HD 90

13Mbps HD 63

Overall, it's a great buy, but if you're looking for the A-Data 8GB TURBO microsdhc Class 6, you will have to look elsewhere. Check the serial number. If it reads AUSDH8GCL6-RA1, then it is not the TURBO version.
