PalmOne Zire Carrying Case

PalmOne Zire Carrying Case
  • Sporty styling
  • Translucent
  • Includes a lanyard for carrying
  • Attachment feature holds handheld securely
  • Compatible with Palm Zire

As someone else recommended, I had the case removed from the package at my local Staples store, and yes, there was a very strong odor of a mysterious scent. It was unlike any plastic or rubbery substance I had ever smelled before. My wife was with me and she did not know of the strange reputation this Zire Case has. She smelled the odor right off and exclaimed, "What the heck is that smell?" We went to Office Max and the scent of the Zire Case there was not as strong, but still detectable. By this time however, my wife did not approve of purchasing one of these and I was inclined to agree with her. It is too bad, because the case has a very nice fit and is different from anything anyone else is selling. My recommendation is to wait and see what else becomes available for the Zire.

As others did, I had the package opened in the store. I noticed a smell that was indeed weird but I would not say the case stunk. Anyhow, there seem to be more or less smelly cases around. One thing though really surprised me: I put my Zire in the case (withouth the original flap!). It fit perfect, too perfect. I could hardly get my Zire back out. Maybe it was just bad luck and it happened to be a badly sized case but I certainly would not pay any money for it. Rather buy one of those Palm leather wallets that have velcro patches inside. Those work perfect.

After purchasing, I read the reviews which talk about a strange odor, but there was none here. I had bought the Zire for my son, and, because he is 12, the case seemed like a necessity. It fits and protects well, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Want PalmOne Zire Carrying Case Discount?

Functionally, the case is exactly what I was looking for.

But the smell really is weird. After a few hours I couldn't take it any more. I removed the PDA from the case. The case is now soaking in some hot, soapy dishwater in the kitchen sink. I hope that will remove the smell, otherwise the case will have to go into the trash. Also, I had to change my clothes and wash them too. Unbelievable--all from a little case!

If it weren't for the smell, I would have given this product 5 stars.

Nice idea. Horrible execution I mean horrible smell. This case is going back to the place of purchase first chance I get. DO NOT BUY THIS THING.

Micro SD Adapter

Micro SD Adapter
  • Get a replacement for your lost Micro SD adapter
  • Adapter allows your Micro SD card to fit into normal SD slot devices
  • Transfer your data easily from your cell phone to the computer
  • Accommodates the micro SD memory card. Color: Black. Accessory ONLY. micro SD memory card not included
  • Suggested Applications: digital music players (MP3) / digital camcorders / digital camera / cellular phones / smart phones

Maybe I don't know how to use these adapters. I have various micro SDs and likewise I have various brands of Mico SD card adapters. This even includes a new one I recieved that adapts the micro to USB. Very cool.

Now, I bought 10 of these adapters. I tried 3 micro SD cards in each one. I tried them in the lock position, the unlock position and even in desperation, half way between. Not one of these adapters worked. Later, I tested my micro SDs in my other adapters and all combinations worked. Unless I did something wrong, these adapters area a failure.

Buy Micro SD Adapter Now

I needed a replacement adapter and this one will suffice. It has a write protection switch on the side which can be annoying at times. I find that it doesn't read the micro sd card unless you firmly place it in the slot. Aside from minor annoyances, this is more than adequate for my needs and you definitely can't go wrong with the price!

Read Best Reviews of Micro SD Adapter Here

Purchased this when I lost the one that came with my phone. At first my laptop didn't recognize it, but then I realized that the switch on the side was in the locked position. Once I took care of that it was smooth sailing from there. No problems since. Transfer rate's a little slow, but it's about the same as a regular SD card as well as my old micro SD adapter, so it's just wishful thinking and shouldn't be counted against this one.

Want Micro SD Adapter Discount?

It does not working and not worth to return, so I keep it as it is. Don't try it again

Adapter does not work. I plugged two different micro SD cards into the adapter, and the adapter into three different SD card slots on three different computers, and no computer ever recognized the card. Eventually I smelled smoke and noticed that the micro SD card was very hot. Now I'm out the cost of the adapter and the cost of replacing the micro SD card, and I've lost the data on the micro SD card. Incidentally, the adapter I received has a SanDisk label on it, not the "circle-e" logo in the picture. Junk.

USB Cradle Docking Station Charger AC Adapter for Palm Treo 680 750

USB Cradle Docking Station Charger AC Adapter for Palm Treo 680 750
  • Charges PDA and synchronizes your data at the same time
  • Blue LED power indicator
  • Keep your Treo sitting in a nice position while synching and charging
  • Package comes with cradle base, AC adapter (for base) and USB cable (for base)
  • 1 year warranty by the manufacturer

I purchased one of these on Amazon and returned it today.

It charges both the phone and spare battery when both the USB cable and power adapter are plugged into the unit. (The power adapter is not the same as the Treo wall charger and can't be used without the cradle.) One odd circumstance, at least on the unit I received, is that the unit seemed to stop charging if the USB cable was attached and the PC was off, even if the separate power cable was plugged in.

The LED on the front indicates power on, but one must look at the Treo's charge indicator to see how the battery in the phone is doing. There is also a separate red/green LED in the back for the spare battery status. This would be a nice touch, but my unit flashed alternating colors if no spare battery was inserted for charging, which I found distracting.

The Treo itself is held at a comfortable viewing angle, for me at least.

The unit does not have a separate synch button, and the customer is supposed to run the HotSync application on the Treo in order to synchronize.

Generally these are all minor irritations, and would not be deal breakers for me, but the unit failed entirely to synch. I tried with two laptops, an IBM Thinkpad T30 with Windows 2000 at the Service Pack 4 level, and a Compaq V4440US with Windows XP Pro at the Service Pack 2 level. This was tested both directly to the laptops, as well as via an Adaptec powered USB hub. The Palm synch cable included with the Treo works consistently in all these permutations.

If you do not need to synchronize with Outlook, or can do so via a wireless interface, this may not be an issue for you. I found it unworkable. Not recommended.

Note that this is sold under some other names, not necessarily just the Fosmon brand.

To their credit, my seller, SFPlanet, allowed me to return the unit.

MSI Computer Corp. 760GM-P23 AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX DDR3 1333 AMD - AM3+ Motherboard
  • CPU: Socket AM3+ Support 64 bit AMD FX/ Phenom II X6/X4/X3/X2/ Athlon II X4/X3/X2/ Sempron Series Processor; Support HyperTransport 3.0; FSB upto 5200MT/s
  • Chipset: AMD 760G + SB710 Chipset
  • Memory: 2x DDR3-1333/1066/ 800 DIMMs, Dual Channel, Unbuffered, Max capacity up to 16GB
  • Slots: 1x PCI-Express 2.0 x16 Slot(support Hybrid CrossFire); 1x PCI-Express x1 Slot; 1x 3.3V/5V PCI Slot

  • Ports: 10x USB 2.0 Ports(6 rear, 4 by headers); 2x PS/2 Ports; 1x VGA Port; 1x DVI Port; 1x RJ45 LAN Port; Audio I/O Jacks
  • Power Connector: 1x 24pin Main Power, 1x 4pin CPU Power

The motherboard is overall very good for the basic consumer. However for the power hungry gamers and/or computer techs, like myself, you would have a few limitations on what other parts you can use. One problem is it can only support AMD CPU's with up to 95watts. My CPU was a 125watt so I had a few bugs with my rig that neither I nor several of my computer tech contacts could figure out until two months later (this limit should have been listed in the specifications but wasn't). The other limitation it has is that it has no PATA ports so you can't put your old hard-drive in to transfer data and you can only use SATA. So be careful what parts you get for it, they might not work.

Pros: Good performance for the basic user and has nice overclocking features if you know how to get into the BIOS.

Cons: Can't use a CPU over 95watts and can't use PATA drives

its a good board but as i learned later once i received all the parts to build the computer this was destined for this board has limitations. i ordered an fx 6200 amd cpu that runs at 125 watts. this board can handle up to 95 watt cpu. nowhere in the description does it say this. and i learned by reading the negative reviews this part had received. so all in all it is not what i wanted

I was on a tight budget building a new computer so I went with this because it had everything I needed at a cheap price. The onboard video is worthless to me because I wanted a higher performance video card for video editing. It only has three expansion slots and one is the video card but that was OK with me because I do not plan to add any cards. The big problem with this MB is the sound does not work with Windows 7. Prior to installing Windows 7, I was running Ubuntu and the sound worked fine. After countless hours reading forums of people with the same problem with MSI/Realtek/Windows 7 sound not working and countless hours of installing, re-installing new bios updates and audio drivers I finally gave up. Since my video card has HDMI, I just bought a new monitor with speakers and a headphone jack and now I have sound through the HDMI. I might go back so day and see if MSI/Realtek/Windows 7 have resolved their compatability issues, but for now I am content with the monitor. Other than the sound it seems to be working well with the CPU, RAM and video card.

Aponyo Click Crystal - Fabric-tipped iPad Stylus for Capacitive Touch-screens with Swarovski Crystal

Aponyo Click Crystal - Fabric-tipped iPad Stylus for Capacitive Touch-screens with Swarovski Crystal
  • Patented conductive fabric tip - writes very smooth with or without pressure.
  • "Clickable!" - retract the tip into the stylus while not in use.
  • Metal clip - don't lose your stylus when you're on the go!
  • Fully compatible with iPad, iPhone and any Android capacitive touch screen device.
  • Beautiful Turkish Blue with embedded Swarovski Crystal

I have every brand stylus ever made, trying to find the perfect one, and I believe this is it! Works just as well as a finger for a smooth flawless application. I am really happy with this stylus. Others have come close, some work amazing on my iPad but not on my iphone or vice versa, this works great on both. Both my devices have screen protectors on them which can make the use of some stylus' not work as well, but not this one. It's like using your finger on an unprotected screen. I use it mostly for the games draw something and scramble where you need to glide the stylus smoothly in long strokes, and it performs flawlessly every time. I would highly recommend this one especially if using it for drawing.

I do enjoy my Aponyo Click Stylus. The Turkish Blue color is a lovely shade that very closely matches the picture and goes great with my white iPad. The fabric-covered foam tip, in my opinion, outperforms foam tips since less drag is experienced when writing on my iPad. Just don't expect the Swarovski crystal to last long. Mine fell out on the first day!

I LOVE this stylus I have tried so many!!! I love to draw and the fabric glides smoothly and without resistance across my iPad screen. The stylus is substantial not too heavy but definitely not super light weight. The retractable point is awesome because it doesn't get damaged when traveling.

ND-100S: GlobalSat ND-100S USB GPS Receiver

ND-100S: GlobalSat ND-100S USB GPS Receiver
  • Highly sensitive GPS receiver that is ideally suited for use with laptops, notebooks, tablets and UMPC devices.
  • Low power consumption and a highly sensitive built-in GPS antenna makes acquiring even the weakest of satellite signals easier
  • Get great GPS performance even without utilizing the included USB extension cable.
  • The ND-100 USB GPS Receiver Dongle is compatible with just about any GPS mapping or navigation software on the market
  • Hardware compatibility: UMPC / Laptop / Notebook / Tablet PC with a USB port. Included USB Drivers: Windows XP, Vista 32-bit/64-bit, Linux, Mac.

Quite sensitive maintains a fix indoors in places where we've not gotten any handheld dedicated GPS units to keep a fix.

Works out-of-box with Ubuntu, though the kernel puts it at /dev/gps0 instead of the more common /dev/ttyUSB0.

Under Windows XP, it keeps coming up as "Microsoft serial Ballpoint", and the GPS NMEA data coming from it gets interpreted as mouse movements and button clicks. The fix (although not easy to accomplish with mouse moving on its own...) is to open up Device Manager, and just after plugging in the GPS when the ballpoint device first appears in Device Manager, right-click it and select 'Disable'. Doing this over remote desktop or VNC is tons easier as you can keep the mouse cursor in one place... GlobalSat has newer Windows drivers, one explicitly saying it's for the ballpoint problem, but the only way I could fix it was to disable the ballpoint in device manager.

Buy ND-100S: GlobalSat ND-100S USB GPS Receiver Now

I installed this device on a tablet running Windows 7. I downloaded the Windows 7 driver from Globalsat's .tw website because I couldn't get the driver on the provided CD (XP and Vista only) to work with Globalsats GPS utility (Mini-whatever). I never did get the GPS utility to work, but after a couple of hours of frustration, I downloaded MS Streets & Trips (trial version), and the device connected flawlessly. During my attempts to use the GPS utility, I did the firmware upgrade, but I'm not sure that I needed that.

The device is very sensitive. Even indoors, it picks up signals from 7 or 8 satellites. In that respect, it seems to be much more sensitive than a hand-held GPS I bought a couple years ago (and have since ruined).

The instruction manual (on-line only) is poorly written and out of date. Arguably, following the manual instructions will lead you further astray than if you wing it. Notwithstanding all the flaws, the device a good buy.

About one year later.....

I lost my original and bought a replacement. The only difference I could identify is that the first one was white and the replacement is black. After initial installation, it worked once or twice then quit. I gave up and bought a BU-353. It seems to be working perfectly.

Item works fine and performs perfectly. But...I had to set the baud rate to 4800 to get it to work. I didn't see anything that said to do this first, but a quick google search pulled up the info.

Want ND-100S: GlobalSat ND-100S USB GPS Receiver Discount?

I gave this product 3 stars as the average of the good and the bad. First, the good. I tried it initially on a Linux netbook. After downloading and installing gpsd, the receiver quickly initialized and I could read the stream of NMEA messages.

Now, the bad. After that success, I used the supplied mini-CD to install the drivers on an XP machine. After connecting the device, I opened the COM port with Hyperterm at 4800 baud 8-N-1. The device was putting out a data stream, but the characters were garbage. No baud or parity configurations produced an intelligible stream. Searching the web, I found suggestions to download other software to set the baud rate. This failed to produce good data. With more searching, I found a discussion in the users' forum about reflashing the device, and using yet another version of the driver. This also failed. A further comment suggested installing the unified driver, which finally yielded usable data at 4800 baud.

Once the interface was ironed out, the receiver was able to initialize quickly indoors. I have evaluated similar products that functioned just as well but worked with the provided drivers out of the box. While I understand the problem of replacing obsolete media, a prominent notice on the company's homepage would eliminate the installation hassles and improve the user experience greatly.

OK, here's the deal. I bought this to get a portable GPS that I could play with on my laptop. I recieved it, spent an hour trying to figure out how it worked (because on windows it masqueraded as a serial mouse, had to edit the registry to make it work, which was inconvenient, and on linux it was as convoluted a process as these things usually are#. It worked ok for a few hours #accuracy wasn't great, ~20m).

Then it stopped working.

I did what was suggested in the forums, and on the FAQs. No good. I contacted support, and they had me do all those things again. Now I have to pay for shipping to send it back, and because it was purchased through Amazon, they may not replace it. And the return instructions say:

"--All products deemed Out-of Warranty are subject to a minimum $35.00 USD charge, excluding freight.

--You may be subject to a $15 service fee and return shipping costs on items found not to be defective."

So it could double the cost of the thing.

NOT recommended.

Not that impressed. Love the style of this stylus but it is thicker than I expected. The rubber thumb could have been a bit longer or lower than where it is positioned for better grip and comfort. (Don't these guys use a focus group to figure these things out?) It is slick which makes it a bit hard for me to use for sketching and drawing on my iPad 2. I use a pen rubber grip with it which helps but makes it a little more thicker. I will keep it anyway but I don't use as much as the Wacom Bamboo Stylus. Bamboo Stylus for iPad (CS100K)I LOVE it.

Belkin has beta drivers for Mac OS X 10.1 and 10.2 at http://www.belkin.com/beta/#1 ... I think the trick (stupid though it is) is to disable HotSync in the HotSync Manager and then re-enable it, after having selected the USB seria port as the desired connection. From what I've seen, you don't even need to quit HotSync Manager between disabling and re-enabling the HotSync.

Belkin's website has a Vista driver, but don't bother using it. Driver setup application hangs. Managed to get past the hang by launching the driver under a debugger (ntsd.exe) and continuing past all the access violation breaks. Once the driver was installed, I found that the throughput is horrible. Communication through the serial port is roughly 25% the speed of what it should be, no mater what baudrate you use. I am definitely returning this device.

USB is a quite convenient and fast interface to connect nearly everything. Normally, it is much faster than any traditional interface.

After reading the description of this product on the box and Amazon, you could be convinced that this is a great opportunity to get a USB interface for your Palm. However, be advised that this is a USB-to-serial converter. That means that you will still need a cradle or serial cable to connect your Palm.

I have my cradle connected to my work PC. I bought this for my home, but it came out that I will not be able to use this as is: I would have to but an extra cradle or serial interface.

Don't buy this if you have an available serial port. If you have an available USB port, you still will need a serial cable or cradle.

Samsung Galaxy S3 siii leather case - Vertical Pouch Type GT-i9300 - PDairI ordered this knowing that it would take a few weeks to arrive but other reviews said that it would get there faster. I actually received it in 4 weeks. The pouch is good quality however the clip on back is very stiff making it hard to attach to my belt or clothing.

BoxWave Replacement HP iPAQ 211 Stylus

BoxWave Replacement HP iPAQ 211 Stylus
  • Fits into your HP iPAQ 211's built-in stylus holder
  • Custom designed for your HP iPAQ 211
  • Durable construction
  • Perfect as a replacement or spare stylus

When I purchased my iPaq 211, I thought loosing the stylus would be a problem. So I purchased three Hong Kong replacement styluses, for less than $10. They were made cheap plastic head and tip with a hollow metal bar in between. Loss did not seem to be a problem, they all quickly broke. I started using the replacements and put the original away. Within a few days the tip broke off, but I kept using it without the tip. Then the black plastic head broke off, and I had to throw it away. Within a month, I had destroyed all three replacement styluses, and when back to using the original, all solid metal, HP iPaq stylus. Yesterday, I bent the metal head a little, but the stylus did not break.

I received the pack with three styluses (styli?).

The black end on top came off the first one after about two weeks.

The second one I tried immediately left its tip in the compartment on the iPAQ and now I can't get another stylus in!

This is what I was looking for but somehow, i thought the price was for 3 of these little writing stylus things. I guess it was my mistake. This seems like a boatload of money for one tiny little writing instrument... with NO INK!!!

WizCom E04087 QuickLink-Pen Elite Scanner

WizCom E04087 QuickLink-Pen Elite Scanner
  • Stores up to 1,000 pages of text; text-to-speech software
  • Supports English, German, Swedish, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and French
  • Exports data to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
  • 97% OCR accuracy, recognizes 6-22 point font sizes
  • USB and IrDA infra red ports, PC compatible

I received QuickLink Elite pen today and have been testing it for the past 6 hours. Now I am finished, I would like to share my thought about this device with you. The box came with the content as described by Amazon. My surprise was that the 135 page color manual, I thought those were extinct! That is in addition to the PDF one in the CD.

Installation on Windows XP Pro. SP2 (Tablet edition) went smoothly, the instructions on the self run CD were easy to follow. You basically install the driver for the cable [serial at the device connector to USB (II in my case) at the PC end], then you install the desktop application which is a very basic utility that lists the files on your pen, and allows you to communicate, change settings, transfer data, and add software to your pen. Once you install the software, you will be asked to connect the device to the computer to start the communication. Initially I had a problem connecting to the device because it conflicted with Bluetooth serial ports. So I disabled the Bluetooth serial ports and removed some extra unused serial COM ports from the computer device manager. I reinstalled the pen drive from the CD, restarted the computer but before I connect again I did one more IMPORTANT step that is not mentioned anywhere. You Baud rate on the pen (go to settings, communications, baud rate) must be the same as your computer COM port (go to device manager, right click on the new COM port), choose a rate, in my case 57600 worked best. After that I managed to exchange files, install software to the pen. In addition, It tried the IrDA with my laptop, the text file was transferred instantly. PDA (iPAQ) recognize the device but transfer of files needed third-party software (Peacmaker $15). In their website, they say there will be an upgrade where third party will not be needed.

After that scanning the text went smoothly, I also scanned small image ( max 8 mm wide), installed the tables software on the pen, scanned directly on the PC ... all went very well. I scanned a type font 10 textbook, out of the total 543, 24 were mis-recognized (some missing one letter, some had capital letter in the middle, while others were just a mess). That is about 95.5% accuracy, not bad, considering that I get about 85% with a flatbed scanner. It takes me about 5 to 6 seconds per line (about 5 minutes per page), so this is truly for text snippets rather than a whole page scanning. Image scanning is useful for signatures, Greek letters, etc. Quality is just OK, you can also scan tables, business cards (to outlook), URLs (get sent to favorites) with the included add-ins on the CD, and bar codes (additional downloads from the wizcom website). All in all I will recommend this device for students, researchers, & people who type slow or rather collect different set of texts from books, journals, etc. It fits 1000 pages internal memory, besides scanning directly to your word processor. It has built in English dictionary, good for language students. It also read aloud any text that is scanned (I do not see the use of this one) but the pen comes with earphone with volume controls.

All in all, this pen turn out as it was described and I think it is a keeper. Thanks for reading this long review and I hope it helped someone.

I'm measuring, first and foremost, ease and precision of scanning. Speed of scanning and ease of installation on the computer are, in my mind, about the same for both this, the Wizcom QuickLink Elite, and the C-Pen 800C. They differ sufficiently, however, in the primary question of ease and quality of scanning. For the record, I bought both at the same time, with the intent of keeping the better of the two. You can just go ahead and buy the C-Pen 800C.

I have had one horrible experience with a pen scanner by Siemens, the "Pocket Reader." It was truly useless. It scanned so poorly that I just put it aside. By the time I though to return it, Siemens was no longer making it, and I couldn't get customer service here in the U.S.

The Wizcom QuickLink Elite is not so bad. It's serviceable. I don't think it lives up to its 95% accuracy guarantee, but perhaps meets a 90% threshold, measured impressionistically. It's interface is also reasonable and satisfactory.

However, the C-Pen 800C is even more precise, truly approaching 95%. Moreover, if you discount errors in spacing from this accuracy percentage, its precision is even higher. Whereas the Wizcom is just as likely to make a content error, misread letters, etc., the 800C's errors are more likely to be the absence of a space when there should be one. A rare missed space doesn't make you puzzle over the text when you come back to it two months later.

C-Pen is also lighter, and it's rechargeable, so while it's more expensive, in the long run, you'll save on batteries.

Both have comparable single-language dictionaries, though Wizcom has more built in or for free (C-Pen allows you one free dictionary, including bilingual ones). Wizcom is a only a bit slower on the uptake, but significantly more likely to warn you "Scan too fast." I've never had that from C-Pen, and again, the precision at any speed is appreciably better with C-Pen.

Both have comparable PC and PDA compatibility capacity.

I got this as a Gift for my education. Im getting a degree in aeronautical engineering and a minor in psychology, so something that can scan text easily and fast is a big plus and a big time saver. After I got the pen, I went online to read what other people thought of the product. Honestly, I think that the pen is super easy to use. If you dont read the 5 pages in the manual(which are really easy to read!), then I can see how people will have problems. Plus, the pen comes with a trainer;Meaning that the pen has to be at a angle for it to scan properly, and the trainer will help you get used to that set up(took me 30mins then I was off the trainer). If you dont use the trainer.. YOU WILL GET A ERROR(wrong angle). You might also get a error if you go too fast. Honestly, If you run this pen across the page like a corvette.... I think that you really need to lay off the coffee. Calm down, this pen is really easy to use. It took me like 1 hour to get used to using the pen. The dictionary is super easy and NICE!!!! It scans up to about 8mm on a page(plenty for you English major types). Here are some things that I want to mention, and might help you:

1) Put the CD into your computer before you DO ANYTHING. Follow those directions...very helpful.

2)The USB cord for the pen is like a device in it-self; as such the software will lead you though installing the drivers for it... not a big deal.

3) when you plug the USB cord into the pen, remember to push hard until you hear a rather substantial snap. It was quite unexpected and was probably a source of a lot problems related to this product(people didn't know to push so hard...NOTHING BREAKS, its a very well made product).

4)make sure that you have the USB cord plugged in(after you have installed the software, eg. after doing 1 above)before you start-up the main program. Then connect the pen to the USB cord and browse to "send stored files to PC" and push enter. WA la, everything will go well.

Its a good product and I think that people shouldn't take the other negative reviews seriously. After getting this, many of my friends are seriously thinking about getting one. Its very well made and Im quite sure that it would be a great help for students or researchers. I hoped this helped.

I bought the pen scanner because I have an application that requires scanning a lot of plain text to my PC. I am a two-finger typist so my hope is to use the product to avoid the typing. So far, the product meets my simple expectations: Scan-and-store and scan-to-PC. I have not yet encountered errors in scanned text. Customer service has also been excellent. I placed two calls to Wizcom's tech support and someone got back to me in less than 20 minutes. In both cases, the errors were on my side: First, I thought the installation CD-ROM was defective but it turned out that I had to reboot my PC in order to read the enclosed CD-ROM. I have had this type of problem with other CD-ROM applications. Second, I was unable to scan text to my PC in a notepad file as instructed in the manual. I repeatedly got the message "Error sending data to PC" and panicked, thinking that the product was a scam. It turned out the plug to my Pen (not the USB plug to PC) was not fully inserted. Once corrected, it works just as expected. I feel a great relief that I don't have the hassle to return the pen. I am satisfied with the product.

It makes lots of spelling mistakes even if you use it by instructions. After you spend all that time scanning and correcting the spelling errors you might as well have just written it down with a pen. It also had trouble connecting to my computer, also when I beam a doc to my pocket pc it could only beam a small amount of text at a time (otherwise it will give you a 'memory full' message on your scanpen, as the pen can only hold so much in mem while beaming). Even though it scans in French as well as English it only reads out loud in English also the computerized voice is sort of hard to understand. I think that this pen is too slow as it has to process each line you scan before you can go on to the next, then to correct its many spelling errors the buttons are a bit ambiguous. I'm a tech junky and have tried all sorts of gagets and I would have to say that the QuickLink Elite Pen Scanner is a cute gimmik but is not worth the money. So save your money and buy some real pens and paper, or type your stuff on your laptop or hand held. Not worth it.
