Bluecell 3 pack of Green Pink Gold Stylus Universal Touch Screen Pen for Kindle Touch 3g Fire Keyboa
- 3 different colors for a single purchase (Green+Pink+Gold )
- Built-In soft head for protecting your screen and increase sensitivity
- Belt Loop - allows to attaching the pouch to your belt, for convenient carrying.
- Compatible with Kindle Touch 3g Kindle Fire Keyboard DX
The barrel is a bit larger then the previous slim stylus I had bought and the increased size makes it easier for my fingers to hang onto.
Would buy them again in a heartbeat!i try to keep these on hand as i find it easier to type with them on a virtual keyboard. it would be nice if they only sold just the rubber tips so u don't have to buy the whole pen part over again. the tips become too smooth after a while and the tablet won't respond to it anymore. but so far i've found that true for all of them regardless of price and these are very reasonable.I am updating my earlier review of this product. I am still very please with them and will order another set due to my 2 year old grandbaby pulling off the clip of one. No, they are not indestructible but very good quality. The price is excellent so I am ordering another set as a back up in case life happens. The stylus works great with the Fire, is comfortable in your hand, and until the "incident" no problems at all. Seller sent item quickly. The variety of colors of the Stylus was an attractive match to the cases I have for our Kindle Touch's. The bad news is that 2 of the 3 of them were unusable because the rubber tip was not supported and sunk in if they were used. The result was the round metal border pressing on and scratching on the screen protector. I was also promised free shipping for my products but because they cam from different vendors, I ended up paying more in shipping than the price of the product. The stylus works great on my Kindle fire.It is much easier to click on the small place for ordering books from Amazon.

Corel WordPerfect Office X6 Standard
WP still excels at professional formatting and ease of operation. MS office gets tangled up in its own fancy formatting, and cannot easily move text from one document to another (or from one format to another) without failing on formatting. You cannot beat WordPerfect's "Reveal Codes" as a way to clean up formatting clutter!!
WP X6 is trying to adopt MS Office 2010 functionality and not succeeding While I like multiple windows (rather than working with multiple documents within one frame), WPX6 loses its "recently opened" file list if you don't open every file from within X6 completely missing the opportunities afforded by Windows 7 to search and access files from within WIN7.
MS PowerPoint is the leader in the slide show market. With the exception of the inability to automatically create random transitions (a weird shortfall, IMHO), the ability to create, organize, flow, embed video and sound, set slide transition timing and export to a video format have turned PowerPoint into a very nice all-purpose media tool. By comparison, X6 Presentations is clunky and awkward.
The respective spreadsheets from X6 versus MS2010 are true to their roots both maintain their native codes and formatting. Because I "grew up" with Quattro Pro, I have never liked nor gotten used to Excel I can move much faster in QP simply due to familiarity.
Unfortunately for WP, I seriously considered NOT upgrading from X5 to X6. The only reason I decided to spend the money is in hopes of seeing some compatibility issues and file-handling awkwardness fixed. Sadly, that didn't happen in X6, so I cannot think of a reason to upgrade from X5 to X6, and I may never purchase another upgrade.
MS Office service lies in its extremely robust and user-friendly knowledge base and the well-rounded user forums. I have never had trouble figuring out how to do something in MS Office a simple online search generates multiple options.
Corel suffers in the service department they have a typical knowledge base that is not very user-friendly, and a very annoying call-in support line (assuming you don't have to pay for it). If you require hand-holding, X6 is not the product for you.
As a professional, I have used Open Office (no longer supported by Oracle or Sun Microsystems, but let loose in the wild as an open source platform), MS Office and WordPerfect Office. I use Word Perfect for most word-processing, PowerPoint for all slideshows, and use Excel and Quattro Pro somewhat interchangeably, depending on what I'm doing and what I might be starting with. For a new user, I recommend MS Office as the most "newby-friendly" software. For a professional or experienced user, I recommend X6 as the software that yields the most professional results with the least amount of time fussing with formatting. So many operations can be done in WP in one or two keystrokes that take many more than that in Word. The full justification in WP is much better than Word, with truer justification so that there are no noticeable spaces between words. Very flexible program, not only for word processing, but legal documents, greeting cards, posters, resumes, etc. are much easier to do, either with built in templates or self formatting. One of the most valuable operations in WP is the ability to reveal codes to see exactly what has been done to your document and to fix things if necessary. Another is the ability to write simple little macros, quick words and quick correct to save keystrokes. very quick and easy convert to PDF and other formats. I do miss the compose feature from earlier versions, but still have high regard for the program which I have been using, in all its manifestations, for over 30 years.
Buy Corel WordPerfect Office X6 Standard Now
WordPerfect Office X6 Standard is a good product at a fairly reasonable price. Easy to use and compatibility with MS Office is good, but formatting changes in conversion is still a problem. Some of the additional apps included are unnecessary, since you can download them free from the internet. I had a real problem with the VideoStudio Essentials X4 video editor the program did not install properly and after three attempts, I had to remove it completely since it caused my computer to crash each time it was opened. The templates provided are very basic and not very useful, but overall the word processor, spreadsheet, and presentations programs all work great. I would recommend this product for a home / small office environment it is a good value with reliable performance.Read Best Reviews of Corel WordPerfect Office X6 Standard Here
Wordperfect is still the best of its type. It has those reveal codes, the "make it fit" function and other features that Word does not have. WP is still a full-feature product offering unique control over formatting and support for legal and complex multipart documents.Word Perfect is a great product. I have used it since it first came out and wouldn't change to any other word processing product. Because of the "view" of what you have done, it makes it easier to correct problems.Monday, August 4, 2014

PalmOne Tungsten C Handheld
- Bright 320x320 transflective color screen
- Fast, 400 MHz Intel PXA255 processor with Intel XScale technology
- Built-in Wi-Fi and keyboard
- Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard Expansion Slot
- What's in the box: Tungsten C Handheld, Stylus, Flip Cover, USB HotSync Cradle, Power Supply, Desktop Installation CD, Software Essentials CD
Its pluses? I've got a wireless network (apple airport) at home and at the office. I've been able to launch the web browser on the PDA, log onto amazon using my email and password, find this page and start writing my review.
I'm also typing this on a keyboard (well, kind of!), which is a huge improvement on the old grafitti system, which is of course still included for those who got the hang of it. I'm also able to surf and type on a colour screen that is as good as anything I have ever seen on a PDA.
Checking emails and going onto the internet is extremely straight forward the only hitch I encountered is down to Apple not palm you need to select network password equivalent in the airport configuration to get the letters and numbers that make up the key you need to log into an encrypted network.
And though I've seen the reviews questioning the wireless range of the tungsten c, I found that I was able to log onto my network at home and collect my emails two rooms and one hallway away from the airport base station. Not as good as my airport enabled ibook, but comparable to the cordless phone I have at home.
The downsides? Other reviewers have already questioned the lack of bluetooth and if I didn't have wi-fi at home I'd be taking this product back. When you spend this sort of money you really have to be sure you are getting the most out of it.
You also need to be realistic. Yes I've been able to connect and access every site I want but as with any PDA the experience is not anywhere near what you get on even the smallest of notebooks. Having to scroll backwards and forwards to read what is on the screen can be a pain in the backside. As is typing in several hundred words, something that I am doing now. Sure it can be done but it will take you twice as long as on your PC, though I suppose it does teach you to be brief!
I've not played around with the documents to go feature just yet, but I would think it's the same there as well. Use it to write or amend short presentations or documents, but don't write your board report on it.
In summary this is a great product, light years away from the psion and handspring I owned previously. Just be realistic what you are going to be using it for and the limitations of a tiny screen and keyboard.

The Tungsten C stands out for me because of 2 things: (1) A nice bright screen and (2) Simple hookup to WIFI (and very good battery life to boot was surfing about 4 hours last night and only drained half way-my ipaq 5455 would have been retired after an hour). The WIFI hookup is simple as easy as click and surf. Sometimes when I turn the unit on and attempt to access the web after not having used the device for a while it seems to hang as if it cannot find a WIFI connection. In those instances I manually search for a signal -however I would definitely like to see it automatically attempt a lockon to the last signal it used.
The things that are puzzling are: (1) Device lacks stereo output so if you want to listen to MP3 it has to be mono (2) Uses a cell phone headset jack versus a standard stereo headset jack (3) Makes an odd crackling/popping sound when you use the stylus on the screen [this HAS been widely reported by other users] that resembles static electicity (4) The keys are NOT backlit (5) The email won't display HTML (6) On my initial device the case in the lower right corner by the power button was loose, wiggled and applying pressure to it actually started activating some buttons [have seen this reported by other users though does not appear widespread].
I would rate this higher but for $... I think Palm should be able to get these relatively simple issues corrected. You may be able to live with them. Might think they are no big thing. My point is for the kind of cash these companies charge we shouldn't get something with these types of issues.
Just my .02 with these types of quality / functionality concerns I hope nobody at Palm is sitting around wondering why future sales are down...

On first impressions the Tungsten C is awesome. The display is the best I've ever seen on a handheld and the keyboard, although small, is well laid out, very easy to use and responsive. The software that comes with it is very good and the overall feel of the unit is one of quality. The WIFI capability was great and I had it connected to the Internet via my home wireless network in about two minutes or maybe less. It is very fast. Everything happens almost instantly. The 400mhz chip is probably overkill in a unit like this, but it sure makes handling pictures and other processor hungry tasks an absolute breeze. Lastly, I was impressed with the battery life. Palm have done a great job of squeezing so much life out of the rechargables.Unfortunately, after just one day of using it my initial joy had turned to frustration. It wasn't really anything particularly big, just an accumulation of little niggles. You'll have read some of them in other reviews as they are things that everyone seems to have noticed. I find it very strange that the designers of the product didn't uncover them in beta testing.
To start with the clicking noise that seems to appear randomly on certain key presses becomes pretty annoying. At first I thought it was a setting in the preferences so I had a look and made sure the "click on key press" option was off, but I still got it. Then I switched the unit to completely silent, but it still didn't go away. It's only a little click, but once you've noticed it you can't help but think it is getting louder and louder. I've never encountered it on any other Palm device.
Another major gripe is the silly mono connection for the headset. This just seems absolutely crazy. Not only is it mono, but it is not even a standard headphone connection it is one of those plugs like you get for a mobile phone headset. Granted, this is probably what Palm were thinking of when they put that kind of socket on the unit, but a little user reacher would have told them that anyone buying a machine with 64 meg of onboard RAM and the ability to plug in addition SD memory are likely to want to use it to listen to music or audiobooks from time to time (in my case that means ALL the time). This is a MAJOR glitch and one I am sure Palm will look to amend in a future model at least I hope they will.
Lastly, although the unit has WiFi, which worked well for me, I felt that for the money there should also be built in Bluetooth. I was used to this with the Tungsten T and just assumed the Tungsten C would include it and so was disappointed to discover it didn't.
I've given it 3 out of 5 because it does have its merits a lot of them, but unfortunately the clicking, the silly mono socket, and the lack of Bluetooth really let it down badly. I'm going to be returning mine tomorrow and sticking with the Tungsten T.
Want PalmOne Tungsten C Handheld Discount?
I've expected for a year that I would soon purchase a new wireless Palm or Pocket PC handheld, and use it to access the Web. However, as each such device has appeared, I've been disappointed, usually in both the speed of Web access and the very limited number of usable sites. There is also the problem of ongoing cost within a year, using a wireless handheld for Web access would cost more than buying it.After recently setting up a Wi-Fi access point in my home, I realized a new Palm Tungsten C might be the solution for me. Five minutes of testing at a local dealer confirmed that access is as fast as my SDSL link, rather than feeling like a 56K modem like the Treo 270, Palm W and Pocket PC cellular-based handhelds I'd tested before. I was also easily able to visit my favorite ordinary Web sites, rather than being limited to the few sites compatible with WAP.
I had no trouble setting the Palm C up for secure access to my home access point, and love the new keyboard even though I'm a quick writer with graffiti.
The screen is much brighter than on the Palm m505 I've used up to now, and Palm claims the battery will last through a full 8 hour day of continuous use.
It's a bit thicker than the m505, and a bit taller, but not enough to bother me. The cover is just like the one on the m505, and works well. The stylus is sturdy metal, and the Pilot pen/stylus from the m505 fits the C, as do all the accessories I have for the m505.
The high speed (400MHz) CPU and large (64MB) memory are real pluses, as is the compatibility with all the Palm software I've purchased over the past decade.
If you must have access anywhere, that is not yet possible with Wi-Fi. But for me, access at home, office, and some nearby commercial hotspot is good enough. This is my fifth handheld. My first two were palm, my third was a Sony, and for my fourth I went back to palm. All four had 8MB of RAM and a 33 MHz processor. When I first turned on the Tungsten C I was amazed at how fast it was. When I clicked on an application it would instantly open, without that 1 or 2 second delay seen on older handhelds. This handheld includes 51 MB of memory, which is very nice for storing applications, movies (using the included Kinoma player), music, pictures and just about anything else. The display is one of the best I've seen, and the high-resolution is really nice. I like the Tungsten T3 expandable display, and was considering getting it, but I realized WiFi was too important. The WiFi is one of the best features of this handheld. I opened the WiFi setup application, it instantly detected my home network, I entered my WEP key and it was connected. Browsing the web on the Tungsten C is not anything like on a desktop or laptop. There is A LOT of scrolling involved, and many web pages take a long time to load, even with cable internet. There are also a lot of bugs in the web browser, and I've had to do many soft resets. I've downloaded AvantGo, which can be used as a web browser, and I never have to reset. The e-mail application, VersaMail, works very well. I just entered my POP3 mail account, and it worked. The keyboard is also a great feature. It is much better than Graffiti, and I'll never go back to a handheld without a keyboard. Palm includes Graffiti2, but I don't even bother using it because the keyboard is so convenient. One thing I've been hearing other reviewers complaining about is the mono headset jack. It would be nice to have stereo, but it's not that important to me. If I want to listen to music, I'll use my iPod. It works just fine for audiobooks, though. The headphones (sold separately from palm) look like ones for cell phones, however, they do not work with cell phones. Overall, this is a truly great handheld. It has a few minor problems, but so does any other electronic device. I've compiled a list of pros and cons:
Pros:
-400 Mhz Processor
-51MB RAM
-Built-in WiFi
-Thumb Keyboard
-Excellent Display
-Comes With Good Array Of Applications
Cons:
-Web Browser Has Too Many Bugs
-Mono Headphone Jack
-No Included Headset

Having read all of the reviews, etc I purchased a Palm TX junk that was promptly returned (see review there). Despite the reviews here I have had great success with pocket pc devices & this unit had everything I needed. After almost a month I will not part with this device! Initially I had to download and update the unit which was a painless experience. Outlook synch's flawlessly and unlike the TX mail set-up and use is easy. WiFi works great and has better reception than the TX, connects faster and the connection is more reliable. The TX "soft re-set" several times a day and took forever to get going again the re-sets seemed to be more frequent when I used the web browser. Not a problem with the 1955. Not a single re-set. There is the wierd windows thing where you have to shut down running programs every so often(Start-Settings-System-Memory-Running Programs-Stop All)but you get used to that pretty quick! For business use the memory is sufficient & the processer is pretty fast. The Office functions work great including running some pretty complex calculations in Excell. Again unlike the TX which has documents to go.
Memory card issue was apparently taken care of with the firmware upgrade as I haven't had aproblem with it & I use it to store documents, pictures, etc.
I don't use the media functions aside from viewing work photos so I can't speak to the complaints there.
For business users I have found it flawless, sleek, attention getting and very functional.

I have had this iPAQ rx 1955 for almost a year. I couldn't be more pleased with it. I have been reading other reviews here on Amazon that say that the iPAQ shuts down and needs to be restarted. Well, that's because the owners do not know how to use it. iPAQs are complex little things and they have to be understood. If properly used, they are sheer delight. As soon as I got my iPAQ a year ago, I bought "iPAQ for dummies", read it from beginning to end and learnt a lot. I use this iPAQ to send email, write notes, as a calendar, contact list, as a reminder, love it when the iPAQ sounds its cute alarm!)and I even write my store list on it. I saved money on an ipod; my iPAQ is much more than that! I got a 2.0 GB SD card and have stored no less than 200 music files, four gorgeous games and dozens of big photos that I can now always have with me wherever I go. (This iPAQ can also store videos). The iPAQ synchronization feature (with your computer) manages to compress and resize big files automatically. The music sound is amazing, the photos look great, the games are fun and easy to play. This little cute iPAQ does so many things for me and offers me so many more that I am absolutely thrilled with it. A friend who has an ipod is considering giving it away and get an iPAQ instead. When I am not taking my laptop with me, I am OK because I can check and send email via iPAQ.
It is fun to use the handwriting recognition features as well as the voice recognition feature; this, of course, with the added software for voice recognition. I no longer need to use the stylus on my iPAQ to look for an address or a name. I simply talk to it and "she" responds wonderfully well. The iPAQ also had to get used to my awful handwriting, but it certainly did. It was fun at first to see the iPAQ trying to recognize my "r" and my "v". But it was all part of the learning process for both.
I have also stored two e-books that I can read on the iPAQ anywhere I want.
I recenty got a pair of Bose headphones that go great with the iPAQ. Now (with a little add-on) I am going to also turn it into my personal GPS. There is so much this little cute thing can do that I AM AMAZED.
I suggest the book (ipaq for dummies) be bought together with the iPAQ.There is too much this cutie can do and one might be lost without extra help.
Want HP iPAQ RX1950 Pocket PC Discount?
I should start off by saying that I am not a major user of PDAs mainly because I'm in front of a computer most of the day. And even when I'm not in front of one, I'd prefer something along the lines of an Ultra Mobile PC due to the larger screen and more features. However, the UMPC is way out of my budget. That being said, the HP iPAQ rx1955 has been a good investment for me. I chose this particular model due to the features as well as the price. I was mainly looking for a way to check my e-mail, tasks, contacts, etc while walking around campus. I also wanted something to help me keep track of meetings and appointments. Granted, most PDA's will do these things...but it was the extra features that won me over. The integration with Outlook and Windows XP in general is seamless. I also like the integration with Office and the WiFi works great. I can now take Office documents and spreadsheets of information from place to place and work on them without a computer.
Overall I have been very pleased. My one complaint is the same as many others. Namely that the iPAQ would freeze occasionally. This was indeed fixed with a patch released from HP.A fine piece of hardware: small, light, good screen, excellent battery life, and does all the basic functions of a PDA (including internet, and Skype works reasonable well). The firmware needs an update to fix frequent crashes, but HP's tech support was great and helped me fix it in a few minutes.
The main defect is the Windows platform. The bundled software (IE, windows media, Word, Notes, etc) are ridiculously stripped down and quite useless in my opinion. If you've used Palm in the past, you'll wonder why Microsoft takes several minutes to Sync a couple of bytes of data with Outlook, or needs a restart every week or two even after all the fixes and updates, or can't let you password protect private records. Luckily I found excellent replacements for most of the software at handango.com/hp and opera.com for a total of about $50, and the machine is now very functional and I'm happy with it. Palm seems to have its own harware issues, so I don't know what's better or worse.
Overall, in an era when most electronic equipment is made in a big hurry and outsourced to the lowest bidder, this PDA does very well compared to others in its price range.

AlphaSmart Dana - Handheld - Palm OS 4.1 ( 560 x 160 )
- Included are a full-size keyboard and a screen that's 3.5 times wider than the typical handheld screen.
- Virtually all Palm applications are compatible with Dana, and many are ready to take advantage of the wide screen.
She composes her writing assignments while sitting in a chair or on a sofa. She uses a lapdesk (that we purchased from Levenger, a mail-order company) when she works on our bed. Needless to say, she loves the Alphasmart Dana because it allows her to use it just like "Daddy's laptop," which she easily prefers over sitting at a desk and typing on a standard PC.
I also use the Alphasmart Dana for my own word processing (to write product reviews such as this one) while I'm waiting for my daughter or her brother at their sports or music practices. I have my own SD memory card to keep my work separate. And I like how I can import the text into a MS Word document open on my computer simply by hooking up a USB cable and hitting the function key marked "send." (Any receiving PC can accept the data and doesn't need to have the Alphasmart Palm desktop installed in order to do so.)
The standard dictionary and spell checker which comes with the Alphasmart Dana is fairly inadequate. I've downloaded the Noah Pro dictionary and thesaurus from PalmGear.com, and both are significantly better.
The formatting capabilities of the Alphaword program have been generally sufficient for most of my daughter's assignments. For those times when an extra level of "prettiness" is required, my wife will normally upload the text to a MS Word file, and format the document accordingly.
Neither my daughter nor I use the other Palm features (such as calendar, address book, to-do list, or memo) that's included. (I use my Palm 515 for those.) We use the Alphasmart strictly as a friendlier, more durable and less expensive version of a laptop computer. In this capacity, the Alphasmart Dana has performed wonderfully.
My daughter now loves to write and does so without any prompting. The Alphasmart Dana has proven to be an excellent investment. I highly recommend it!
Buy AlphaSmart Dana - Handheld - Palm OS 4.1 ( 560 x 160 ) Now
I am studying a course in Computer Systems at University, I have a desktop in my halls but I wanted a laptop to use in lectures as I have a learning disabilty. I was recommended the Dana by a friend, for the price I think that it is a great piece of kit. The full size keyboard is a joy to type on, and the product itself is ALMOST indestructible (I know this as it gets bashed around in my bag). The widescreen is great when using Alphaword, although in most Palm applications there is a Dana logo on the left of the screen as most applications haven't been converted to run in widescreen. I would recommend purchasing an SD card as you can only store 8 files in the internal memory, which can be a bot of a problem if you are away from your PC and cannot hotsync. Overall this is a well made, cost effective and portable alternative to a laptop for word processing. Therefore, I would recommend this product to anyone.Read Best Reviews of AlphaSmart Dana - Handheld - Palm OS 4.1 ( 560 x 160 ) Here
I like writing on the go -in coffee shops, book stores, libraries(!), on my bed before I sleep... And my laptop didn't quite cut it because of power and size.I was a little apprehensive before buying the Dana because of dimension (too big and I wouldn't carry it), keyboard (I wanted a laptop feel), and screen (too small would be a problem)
but I am quite satisfied with all of the above.
Dana is light and compact. It is large in form, but no larger than a sub-compact notebook, and certainly much thinner and lighter. I put it in my bag/sack without hesitation.
The keyboard is terrific (looks and feels like an Apple keyboard) and the screen is, while not outstanding, good enough, with a nice backlight. It could be a little bigger -this is the reason I don't give it 5 stars -but I guess the engineers needed to make a trade-off here.
The rechargeable battery lasts a long time, certainly more than enough for lugging around without its charger for a day (and I'm sure it lasts a lot longer than this -just that I haven't tried it for more than a day).
I with the AlphaWord would let me change the default font (I like using Times New Roman and 20 points on the small screen). That would be my only complaint. With the supplied default font, however, I can use it without much difficulty so I am not too upset.
I haven't gotten around to using the Palm features, although I have a Palm Tungsten T so I doubt I ever will. I suspect my use is the sweet spot for the Dana -light word processing on the go. The previous reviewer's comment suggests the same.
Dana's website says that there will be an 802.11b ready version out in the future. This would be a pretty cool addition to an already useful product. As it is, I highly recommend it for people who like writing anywhere.
Want AlphaSmart Dana - Handheld - Palm OS 4.1 ( 560 x 160 ) Discount?
In General:First I want to make a disclaimer. I sell a lot of these on Amazon Marketplace. I also use one on a daily basis. This review was written on my Dana. It is so light and portable that I bring my Dana with me almost everywhere, in my car, on my walks, in the subway, on my bicycle, and even on my skateboard. I have sold several to people whom I met in this or that cafe while I was typing away on my Dana.
In the summer of 2010 I decided to write a book. But I found my laptop to be too cumbersome and I was always worried that it would get stolen whenever I had it with me in public. So I set about finding a writing tool which was portable and inexpensive. After trying several devices I found my match in Dana.
Dana provides me with excellent basic word processing abilities without the distraction of email, facebook, photoshop, youtube, or the internet in general. I have gotten more actual writing done in the half year since I started using Dana than in the 5 years previous with my laptop.
Dana & Windows 7 & 8:
Not gonna happen. Doesn't work. Unsupported. Fahget about it. Windows 7 has both compatibility mode and XP mode (these are not the same) and neither of them does beans for any AlphaSmart.
The only way to make a Dana useful is to have either a separate PC or a second hard drive booting good ole user-friendly Windows XP. I use my old XP laptop to sync my Dana to the same external drive to which my regular PC backs up. *Voila* Problem solved.
Do NOT buy a Dana if you use Windows 7 and are not willing to do this extra step. This will probably apply to Windows 8 as well.
Supposedly (according to RenLearn) you CAN sync from Windows 7 if you use the IR pod. But I haven't verified this. (as of 9/1/12)
Writing On The Go:
Dana provides excellent distraction free basic word processing capabiity in an extremely portable package. Dana saves files as Rich Text. You have the same functions found in programs like MS WordPad. You can indent, bold, italicize, and make bullet lists. The keyboard is one of the best I have ever used. It is like typing on silk. The keys are concave to fit the shape of your finger tips, they depress easily, and have gentle but firm return. You can save as many files as will fit in the 8MB or 16MB of memory. Dana also has an excellent built in screen-backlight in case you are typing in dim light, as I often do.
Dana is way more durable than a laptop and weighs only about 2 pounds and fits easily in most backpacks. I often type with Dana on my lap without any discomfort. It turns on in about one and half seconds and is usually ready to work before I am. Because Dana is so energy efficient I have never had the batteries drop dead on me. And since Dana can recharge through the USB port and I sync my Dana to my PC every day that I write they will probably never go dead on me. According to the manufacturer specs, Dana can run up to 25 hours on a single charge.
Cables & Software:
People often ask me about cables and getting information to their computer. With Dana this is very easy. The manufacturer provides free downloadable desktop software for Mac & PC which backs up and syncs all the data between Dana and you computer. The software is Palm OS based and includes all the features found on the old Palm Pilots. The calendar is an excellent stand-alone application.
Cables are not a problem. Even though there are several ports in the back of Dana, the only one you really need is the USB port. Dana takes a type-B USB cable. This is the same kind that goes to your USB printer. These can be purchased easily and cheaply. These are so common that you may already have an extra one. And odds are that even if you don't have one, your friend or neighbor does. Maybe if you ask they will give it to you.
Dana has a an additional USB printer port for direct printing. But I haven't tried it as I always print from my PC. Though it will power one of those twisty USB-powered LED lamps. Now I can type in the dark.
Batteries and Dana:
Beware of used Danas that "include" a rechargeable battery. These batteries may be, and frequently are, eight to ten years old. A Dana with an old battery will frequently crash and lose data, even if it's "backed-up" on the SD card. The solution: replace the battery. You can buy a new rechargeable battery pack for less than $20 from renlearn.com
Dana will run fine on normal AA batteries. But you must use alkalines. If you try to use store bought rechargeables , Dana will not turn on. You can make it work with store bought rechargeables by rewiring Dana's insides just a little. You snip two wires, wind them together. Then do it again to two different wires. I did that to mine. To do it well takes about 45 minutes and you have to be careful about the circuit boards. There are detailed instructions online. It's a lot easier than it looks at first. The best thing about this hack is that you can use your own batteries and recharge them by plugging Dana into a USB port, though you lose the ability to safely use alkaline batteries. I found this trade-off to be completely acceptable for myself. If you do a search for "Dana battery hack" you'll find the site by V. Fry where I learned to do this.
What You Should be Aware of When Buying A Used Dana
Some Danas are sold by individuals who are the first owner and used it for their own writing. Most, probably over 95%, were owned first by schools and sold off in large lots. These are often grimy and dirty beyond belief with old stickers and food stuck to them. These require a thorough cleaning. In my experience About 1 in 5 also often have other problems. Sometimes the system board is bad and the thing won't work (very bad.) There are a litany of problems that can occur with used Danas. Sometimes it can be lived with, other times it can be fixed with a reset, and other times it means you need to get a different Dana. Most work fine. Almost all of them have some scratches on the case or screen.
The Dana Stylus
You can actually get by without one. A ball point pen cap or a pinky fingernail works well enough. But it is nice to have a stylus on hand. There is a little slot in the side of the Dana into which the stylus clicks. The default stylus is black. You can also get a colored stylus in red, yellow, purple, blue, and green.
Is Dana Right For You?
If you are a writer looking for a tough, portable writing tool then almost certainly the answer is Yes! Dana should be synced every day or so that you write. If you are going to be near your computer most days but don't want to haul your laptop around with you, then Dana is an excellent choice. Dana is Palm OS 4 based. This means that if your batteries die, you lose all of your data. So if you plan to be away from a recharge point for more than a couple of days then you need something with more data stability. An AlphaSmart 3000 is an excellent choice for that because they are more durable than a Dana and won't experience data loss when main power fails. The 3000 however only saves files in plain text and has an 87 page limitation.
If you are looking for a device for your child then you should take into consideration the child's level of technical aptitude and motivation to write. Dana requires a level of mindfulness that many young children have not yet developed. Dana needs to be synced to the PC and recharged very regularly. A less challenging alternative would be the AlphaSmart 3000 mentioned above....I find this portable word-processor a wonderful gadget. It's a lot tougher than most laptops, as well as lighter and less expensive. Also, the batteries last a lot longer. So I take it with me whenever I don't wish to lug my computer around. I also like the fact it can store up to eight documents, as well as upload the document to almost any word-processing programme on the computer.
The one drawback I find is that the machine only works with basic font. It does not have a footnote, italics, bold or underline function -all of which would be handy. I also suggest you pay the extra and get the built-in rechargeable battery pack as well as the carrying case, since each of these makes the AlphaSmart much more convenient to travel with.

USB Trackball Numeric Keypad/Desktop Calculator, 12-Digit Display CAN0009B001
When I received this calculator, the box indicated Windows only (OSX was not mentioned under requirements). I was prepared to be disappointed. I took a chance, and this product just works (no drivers)!
It could've been a disaster with such a hybrid device, but the trackball, keypad, backspace, tab, cursor, and everything just seem to work. Plus (at first I thought USB cable was not included), it includes a nifty self-storing USB cable that retracts into the base. The battery is built-in and rechargeable (factory (and user?) replaceable), and it has a solar cell for working off light.
There are a few shortcomings. I don't know if there's a calculator standard keypad size, but the keys seem a little close together compared to a normal keyboard, but still OK. The touch is softly tactile.
The manual doesn't have much to cover but still leaves a bunch to be desired. There are some a few sophisticated features which the manual does not explain fully (at least to my satisfaction) but which seem standard enough: the rounding switch (up, 5/4, down), decimal point setting (+,4,3,2,1,0,F[loating point]), and tax aids. I think the floating point could've used more explanation of when the + mode would be useful. It's confusing that they're not explained in some significant detail since they're somewhat unique features. That's picky, but for such a nifty product, solid documentation would be extra polish.
Overall, I'm quite impressed and pleased with this unorthodox (yet surprisingly familiar) and versatile calculator.I thought this would be a great product. Wow, combine a full function calculator with a mouse ball!
Well, the tiny trackball was quirky and would move all over the screen.
The keys are so close together and small that I could not accurately enter numbers.
I sent it right back.
Many keypads like this one have small numbers so if you use the pad for data entry be careful.

Multimeter DT830B 19-Range DMM
- 20-range AC/DC V and DCA multimeter
- 1.5V and 9V battery tester
- Ultra compact design
- Diode check and transistor tester
- 90-day manufacturer's warranty
The source of the confusion is that there are two different digital multimeters, both called 'DT830B'. Even when I search for "Sinometer DT830B" and land on the same Amazon product page, it seems to alternatively display two different product images:
One DMM (see Palm-Size Digital Multimeter, DT830B) has its three probe-sockets arranged in vertical direction. Its ON/OFF switch is integrated into the main dial, and there are no battery testing functions available. Its dimensions are 5 x 0.9 x 2.8".
The DMM I received (see my Customer Image) has its three probe-sockets arranged in horizontal direction. It has a separate ON/OFF switch on the left hand side. On its main dial there is a rudimentary battery tester function. Its size is smaller at 3.8 x 1 x 2.2".
The battery tester function is nothing to get excited about. It simply pulls 4mA when connected to a 1.5V battery. So suppose you measure an alkaline battery and see a lower current such as 3.2mA, you know that the battery is roughly half-depleted. This is not useful for testing a rechargeable NiMH cell, because its terminal voltage does not change significantly until it is nearly exhausted.
The DMM comes without an instruction manual. The only specifications were printed on the back of the box. I was skeptical about the claimed accuracy (+/-1.0% for DC voltage, for example), so I tested it against a professional DMM (HP 34401A). I was quite surprised by my findings:
For DC voltage and current, readings of the two meters differ by less than 0.5%
For resistance, the difference is typically about 1%.
Some other observations are:
The DT830B's input impedance is 2 Mega ohm for DC voltage (compared to 10 Mega ohm for the HP)
The maximum resistance value it can measure is 2 Mega ohm (compared to 100 Mega ohm for the HP)
It takes about 1 second to reach a stable reading (the HP takes less than 0.1 second)
Considering that I paid only $7 for this little DMM, while a professional DMM costs over $500, I really cannot ask for more. But I do wish that it comes with a better instruction manual just for people who never used a DMM before.
(Hint: Google "How to use a DMM" if you need some general information or tutorial)
[Update on March 8, 2012]
I should add that the meter is still working well after nearly two years, and I'm still using the original 9V battery that it came with.

As someone who only occasionally needs the services that a multimeter can provide, this is the perfect device. It's small, easy to store, accurate, and durable. The unit I received looks much better than the one in the picture. It has a yellow plastic construction, comes with the black/red probes, and includes a 9V battery.
And although it is lightweight, it doesn't seem fragile at all. In fact, it seems very durable.
The instructions are marginally useful at best, but that's not really important since it performs to my expectations. And the price can't be beat. Definitely a handy device to have around the house.

I am extremely disappointed and feel deceived. Now that I can examine it up close, this is the exact same device I bought at a Dollar Store in a different color. I bought this because I wanted to test batteries under load to get a reading of how much power the battery still had. Old/used batteries can read 1.5 volts when not under load, but will quickly drop once a load is placed on it, hence the need to test them under load to determine if they are still good.Anyway as a cheap multimeter, it's fine. As a Battery tester with load that's deceptive and why I give this 2 stars.I knew I was not going to get something of Fluke quality with a

Works very well, exactly like the original I had in my iPAD.I was using a non original product which promises more capacity but was having problems when fully charged. In this condition the iPAD used to lock.
With this one I do not have that problem.
Also a very good price.
