Motorola Symbol LS2208 Scanner p/n: LS2208-SR20007R - USB Cable Included

Motorola Symbol LS2208 Scanner p/n: LS2208-SR20007R - USB Cable Included
  • The LS2208 Bar Code Reader from Symbol Technologies offers high performance scanning at a moderate price point.

We use about 5 of these in our office. Great all around scanner. Works on even very small barcodes (couple milimeters tall). I think this is probably like the worlds most popular barcode scanner, I try to buy them used when possible, and can usually find them. Reads all popular barcode types that I know of, and with a little research can be easily adapted to scan even more obscure types. Easy to use just plug into a windows computer if you have the USB adapter.

The cable is a very cost-efficient way to convert a barcode scanner with keyboard wedge style connector to USB connection. It's a little fiddly to swap with the old cable but once in place everything is secure. No problems in use.

I had a Welch Allen Barcode scanner that worked till i upgraded my computer. Then it didnt work with the new PC. So i did some looking and found this one. IT WORKS GREAT! right out of the box i plugged the Cat5 to USB cable in and Windows 7 found it and loaded the drivers itself. I use this with a dvd program, DVDProfiler, I scan the barcode and dont have any issues at all. I can scan from just a few inches away to 3 feet away (just had to try it). This works with my needs with not an issue.

I own five of these for my 3 cell phone stores. I love being able to program them with Motorola's software. I have set them up to tab and enter when certain codes are scanned. This has made life easier when logging in to various websites.

BoxWave mini Capacitive Sanyo Zio SCP-8600 Stylus (Jet Black)

BoxWave mini Capacitive Sanyo Zio SCP-8600 StylusI wish it had its soft end smaller in diameter. It saves the screen from being covered with the finger prints, but it's no better than finger tips in precision. A smaller diameter of the soft end would help its precision, I think. The overall design, though, is esthetically pleasing, ergonomic and sturdy.

GR-213-USB: Holux USB Mouse GPS Receiver GR-213 for PC

GR-213-USB: Holux USB Mouse GPS Receiver GR-213 for PC
  • Antenna Type: Built in Patch Antenna
  • Max update rate: 1 HZ SiRF III GPS chipset.
  • LED Indicator. Waterproof: IPX7
  • Holux GR-213USB Waterproof USB GPS Receiver

I have used five of these now in boat navigation laptops for myself and friends. Very fast lockup, it always has a position before the nav software loads. Very sensitive, while others are having to stick their GPS out side this one is receiving in the cabin. I like the fact it is powered by the USB port and doesn't need a separate battery.

Hi!

I decided to purchase Holux, because of reviews I founded on web. I have had a lot of headache with Garmin GPS 18 USB, which is pretty hard to make work properly under any OS.

Holux, worked perfectly under XP, Vista & Linux (using gpsd), very good sencetivity (works even inside buildings), excellent accuracy.

There is nothing more to say.

Highly recommended.

Cheers

I bought this GPS receiver to replace a Microsoft branded receiver I had that got destroyed some time back. The first thing that went smoothly was the installation of the drivers onto my Windows 7 laptop. Once I used their diagnostic software to verify that it was working correctly, I tried it with my moving map software. It works wonderfully. I had the opportunity to try it out in a sheer moment of "where the heck am I?" on a weekend trip. From the time I plugged the unit into the computer, to the map showing me the "You Are Here" location was less than a minute.

My one upset about the puck is the length of the USB cable. Granted, it's 6 foot long, but I would have liked a bit more.

Certainly works great!

Want GR-213-USB: Holux USB Mouse GPS Receiver GR-213 for PC Discount?

The product is fine, appears to work as described. I'm using it with my netbook and a free nautical Navigation program but haven't had a chance to test it other than seeing that it does pinpoint my current location. I am looking forward to using them on my boat this spring/summer) The GPS installation instructions were minimal I thought, one section on a large sheet that repeated the instructions in maybe 15 languages). They referred to a test .exe file that I didn't find on the enclosed disk. The driver(s) etc., are on a mini-CD which didn't work in my tower's vertical CD drive, so I had to find another computer and copy the CD to a usb flash drive. Also, it wasn't clear to me that the driver on the disk was for Win 7. However, I did easily find what I needed on the Holux site, although I was still slightly confused/uncertain about the driver(s) I needed. Also, the test program was a compressed .RAR file, not a zip file, which required finding and downloading a RAR compression/extraction program (free for 40 days). Becoming comfortable and accomplishing all this required several hours and was slightly inconvenient. I rated it four stars due to what I considered to be disk/instruction deficiencies. For perspective, I am over 70 and only moderately computer savvy. As such, my experience may have little relevance for most younger folks or others sharper on computers who would likely have no problems installing the device.

I purchased this one, after a sad experience with Garmin GPS 18 USB, which was a complete mess...

Holux is perfect: outstanding reception, even in the buildings, easy installation, support of almost all OS (I have not tested it on Mac)

Just great

Acer Aspire V5-171-6675 11.6-Inch Laptop (Silver)

Acer Aspire V5-171-6675 11.6-Inch Laptop
  • Intel Core i3-2377M 1.5 GHz (3 MB Cache)
  • 4 GB SDRAM
  • 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
  • 11.6-Inch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 3000
  • Windows 8, 5-hour battery life

Acer made a good name for themselves by providing reliable desktop computer components, and that reputation carried over when several years ago, the company advanced into providing laptops. Now after owning three of them, I have never been disappointed in the operation or reliability of any of them. This one is very small and solidly built and it has a brushed aluminum finish I really like in contrast to the nice shiny metallic finishes usually associated with Acer laptops.

So now we enter into a new era of Tablet computing and Windows 8, and it is a definite change from the previous computing we learned so well. Advancing cautiously with the help of Acer's desktop, Windows eventually revealed that it is still the same old Windows inside with a new graphical sugar coating and some new enhancements that make it very appealing for use with the new Touch Screen Tablets that are steadily gaining in popularity.

Windows 8 has your back if you still find better use for a computer than a Tablet, so this Acer has the familiar touchpad mouse built into its keyboard, but I still prefer using a BlueTooth mouse whenever possible. Additionally, many Android users may find Windows 8 is very similar to using the data provisions of their cell phones, complete with an endless number of available apps.

This little 11.6 inch wonder in electronic wizardry will always remain readily available whether I am at work or travelling. Sized the same as the newer Tablets, I consider this laptop to be better provisioned, and best of all, it sells for about half the price of a top-rated Tablet. It is provisioned with the least expensive version of a set of three new CORE Intel processor configurations that increase in cost at each level of complexity, but really don't provide enough in additional abilities to warrant a higher price over what I already have in this very basic laptop computer. This i3 runs very cool and is built into the smallest laptop frame Acer provides, and I even have a little accessory carrying case for it.

This laptop is too small to accommodate a mounted optical disk drive, but that is easily fixed since there are several external CD/DVD RW drives available at a nice price, all provisioned to plug into a laptop's USB ports for immediate use. Regardless, Acer Support provides a Recovery Flash Drive for this computer that can be plugged into one of its USB ports if a recovery to factory specs ever becomes necessary.

With a little more time researching some of the other similar laptops available from Acer before purchasing this one, chances are I would have also seriously considered the Acer Aspire One laptop. That would have saved another couple hundred $$ since it is a very close duplicate to this one. The only real difference is its slightly slower Intel processor, but it also has a smaller but more practical 320 Gig hard drive, which for all my needs is still HUGE. Either one of these laptops is perfect for students who must store and do their work on a fully provisioned computer, and there are also some AMD provisioned 11.6 Acer laptops as well at an even lower price.

Buy Acer Aspire V5-171-6675 11.6-Inch Laptop (Silver) Now

The laptop is great when plugged into a wired network, but is honestly hopeless on wifi. The wireless card drops internet connection every 5 or so minutes, and sometimes it comes back on its own, sometimes you have to open and close the wireless adapter, sometimes you have to reboot the laptop to fix it. I have two other laptops in the same room, a dell and an asus, both work great on wifi without problems. The wi fi signal is great. I have looked online and read a few reports, wifi problems appear fairly common with Acer laptops with this qualcom wireless adapter.

Because I purchased and installed office on this machine, I am now stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can return the laptop for credit and lose the $120 I paid for office because I have to buy a new copy, or I can keep the laptop without working wireless. Some choice that is! 2 stars is generous. Dont buy this laptop if you need reliable wi fi connection.

This is a nice, solid, basic laptop. I've only had it for about a week, so can't speak of its longevity. Physically, it is very solid. I've noticed some laptops out there have a little bit of wiggle in the screen or keypad, but this one is solid, which is impressive for being so small and thin. They keyboard is easy to type on for me, but I have tiny hands... my larger-handed husband has some trouble, but its not his laptop. The mousepad is OK, I would prefer dedicated left and right click buttons rather than pushing the pad itself for this, but I'm getting used to it. There are a lot of USB ports for being such a small computer. I also appreciate that the screen is very clear and bright... so bright, I even had to turn it down. The screen is also wide-screen, so even though the laptop is 11 inches, it is almost just as wide as my 15 inch... I was concerned it would be difficult to read being so small, but this was not the case. The sound is weird, the speakers are on the bottom of the laptop, so if its on my lap, my lap mutes a lot of the sound... when its on a hard surface, its fine. But, I don't plan on using the speakers, I use headphones if I ever REALLY need to listen to anything anyway. Its no bother for me, so it wasn't a negative, but others might find that info useful. The computer was super easy to set up, its processor is VERY fast, websites pop up quickly. I personally don't like Windows 8, but there were plenty of websites out there (CNET mostly) that helped me download some free programs to bypass some of the annoying Windows 8 features (start screen, start menu, hot corners, etc.)... but this is to no fault of the laptop. Solid laptop and a great price. Highly recommended.

I am a college student, and the V5 is a perfect choice for me. the laptop is only about 2 lbs. I can hardly feel it in my backpack. The battery life is about 3 4 hours, I don't have to worry about bringing the power cord. For a 11.6 inch laptop it feels really good when I'm typing. The material that its made out of doesn't get dirty easily. The CORE I3 processor is amazingly quick. This laptop does more than what I need.

The reason why I'm giving it a 4 star is because I dislike Windows 8. it suites better for a Ipad, tablet or a smart phone, but it's a pain to work with on this laptop. The speakers are placed under the laptop, so to me the sound is a bit muffled. (I usually use ear buds, so it's not a problem) The battery is difficult to remove because you have to insert a small object (like a paper clip) into the release latch while your pulling it out.

Okay this is a pretty capable little notebook computer. The i3 CPU will make it considerably faster than the older generation Intel Atom chips. The quality seems decent for a $450 part.

Now here's some information that can save you some grief:

1. The BIOS is set up from the factory so that you can only reach it from the Windows 8 environment. I spent the better part of an hour trying different keys and combinations in a futile attempt to reach the BIOS aggravating. The following is courtesy of user "gr8stapeoftx".

From the Windows 8 Sidebar:

Settings

Change PC Settings

General

Advanced Startup

Restart Now

Troubleshoot

Advanced Options

UEFI Firmware Settings

Personally, I don't like this setup. I Like the Bios to be agnostic of the operating system. What happens if someone decides to downgrade to Windows? Fortunately, once you reach the BIOS screen from Windows 8, you can set the bios to work in legacy mode. After that, the F2 key will get you into the bios upon bootup.

2. Getting to the internals is incredibly easy. I think it is literally just one screw to remove the bottom chassis plate. Upon removing the plate, the RAM is a breeze to upgrade. There are two slots, and one of them is populated by a 4 GB chip. You can add another 4 GB chip for a total of 8 GB. Doesn't get easier than that.

3. Hard drive now this is much more tricky. If you are looking to replace the conventional hard drive with an SSD drive like I was, pay attention. Many of the SSD drives on the market will *not* work with this computer (Sandisk Extreme, Kingston, OCZ Vertex, Crucial M4, etc.) Why? Because they are all a tad too tall at around 9.5 mm. They must be of the 7 mm variety. The Samsung and Transcend drives seem to work because they are around 7 mm.

All in all, this is a pretty good computer for your money. I wish the battery life was more like 6 or 7 hours, but the battery is not sealed, so you should be able to buy aftermarket batteries down the road.

Designer Gomadic Black Leather Palm palm Tungsten T5 Belt Carrying Case - Includes Optional Belt Loop and Removable Clip
  • Detachable belt clip can be used as a carrying option. Case also has an integrated belt loop to provide a second alternative.
  • Case dimensions are sized to accommodate 121.5 x 78.4 x 15.7 mm . A perfect fit for the Palm palm Tungsten T5.
  • Constructed of premium black leather, this slim fitting and classically designed carrying case will fit any clothing style or fabric.
  • Specifications: Inner dimensions (Palm palm Tungsten T5 specific), Weight (Base 4oz. empty), Detachable Clip (Yes)
  • Cutouts on both the sides and bottom of the case provide access to critical device controls and ease of removal.

The case is beautiful, but in my opinion is not appropriate, as advertised, for the Palm Tungsten T5 . Although the handheld fits the case perfectly, it's too slim for this case, and the Palm rattles around while moving about; disappointing especially at this price.

They should note that this is a universal mount, not custom for the xoom but either way it works fine. We used it on a 8 hour trip to Chicago with my 2 year old daughter occasionally kicking at the screen and it worked well. It did move when she kicked it but it never dropped the Xoom. A good mount overall and I'd recommend it at the cost. I'd give it three stars if it was priced any higher though.

I have a Yukon Denali XL. The hook attachment doesn't come all that close to fitting the headrest in any way. The plastic is thin and easily broken. How easily? One of the two I ordered was broken when I bought it. I mounted the other, shoved the headrest down to secure the poorly fitted mount and put the Xoom on it and it shook like wild in a still car. I could imagine this being impossible to use while driving. I purchased another headrest mount I left a review for. I recommend that one for the Xoom if you're looking.

HQRP Battery for TomTom One XL / V1 / V2 / V3 GPS Replacement plus HQRP Universal Screen Protector

This was supposed to be the battery for my Tom Tom One XL. It did not even start my GPS from the start. I have tried a number of times to charge it, even for extended periods, and it still would not start or run my machine.

Read Best Reviews of HQRP Battery for TomTom One XL / V1 / V2 / V3 GPS Replacement plus HQRP Universal Screen Protector Here

I get about 50 minutes on a full charge, very similar to what the original Tom Tom battery held when it was new.

Installation was relatively easy. You will need a special allen type wrench for the rear screws. Also, since the replacement battery is smaller than the original, a piece of thick two-sided tape would be helpful to hold the battery in place (I used regular electrical tape).

If you need directions to replace the battery, there are a few helpful videos on that popular video site. Search for "replace Tom Tom One XL battery".

After about a year of relatively light use, the battery died.

Want HQRP Battery for TomTom One XL / V1 / V2 / V3 GPS Replacement plus HQRP Universal Screen Protector Discount?

After a number of years of faithful service our TomTom One battery gave out. I purchased this battery for a very reasonable price however I felt the shipping charges were a tad bit high. It is actually just a bit smaller than the battery it replaces. The packaging indicates that it is intended for use in a PDA. The connector is compatible and plugs right in. The rating on this Lithium Ion battery is 1300 mHr exceeding the 1100 mHr battery that came with the unit. There were no markings indicating the composition of the old battery but I do not believe it was a Lithium Ion Battery. It came about 50% charged and unless it does not come up to a full charge (which I do not believe will happen) I am very pleased with this unit. I hope this will help.

You will need a small torx driver to remove the cover and then with a little 'prying' it separates.

Pretty easy to swap it out and the screen protector does a good job (you can hardly tell it's on).

Concerti 99MO046031 for iPad 2 - Falcon- Grey

Concerti 99MO046031 for iPad 2 - Falcon- Grey
  • Doubles as versatile iPad 2 stand with various tilt angles.
  • Hybrid silicone inner case with Terahedron microfiber lining provides superior 360 degree shock and scratch protection.
  • Integrated hand pocket alleviates wrist stress when using the iPad handheld.
  • Includes detachable lanyard for added security and portability.
  • Microfiber outer layer provides a soft suede-like feel while in your hand.

I often carry a bunch of stuff from one room to another, and tuck my iPad under my arm. I REALLY don't want to drop it, of course, and the non-slip nature of the suede really does the trick--much better even than Apple's original iPad 1 case.

I think it has a very classy look, and shows a lot of care in the design. It clearly wasn't hacked together in a weekend.

I am using an iPad 3, and the holes line up correctly.

The stretchy silicone often slips out of perfect alignment, but not in a way that threatens the iPad's security, and it is trivially realigned.

Although the design does allow freehand use of the backside camera--by folding the cover in a special way--it's a little awkward, and it won't prop itself up on a table when the cover is folded this way (unlike Apple's iPad 1 case).

Although not a flaw annoying enough to weaken my 5-star rating, I must say that even after months of regular use, I still haven't gotten used to the cover flipping open on the "wrong" side (like a Japanese book). Japanese buyers will love this orientation, and you might get used to it quicker than I.

Did I mention that it's a sensual pleasure to touch this case? Oh yeah it is.

Buy Concerti 99MO046031 for iPad 2 - Falcon- Grey Now

This portfolio case was exactly what I was looking for! It has a sleek look that would work for a business professional or a college student. When I decided to get an iPad I asked other friends what they liked or didn't like about the case they used and the majority of people said they wished their case protected the entire edge of their iPad. This does just that. With this portfolio, you just insert your iPad into a rubber sleeve that covers up all the edges, but leaves holes at the bottom for the power/USB port, at the top for the headphone jack and the lock switch on the side. The rubber sleeve is attached to the rest of the case so you don't have to worry about it falling out. For extra security, there's a small elastic strap on the outside for you to slip your hand into when you carry it. I also find the strap a convenient place to clip on my stylus. This portfolio case was originally designed for iPad 2, but my iPad 3 fits it perfectly. Overall, I'm very happy with my Moshi Concerti case!

I have owned this case for two years. It has protected my ipad well. The exterior surface is microfiber, which is great because my kids have gotten all manner of grime on it. It wipes clean with water and a rag.

It is an "upside down" case the home button is on the left when viewing in the landscape mode (this case does not rotate to portrait). In the landscape config, The on/off button is lower right, the volume control is on the bottom edge, on the right. Headset jack upper right and dock/charge port is on the left. I used it this way from day 1 and is perfectly fine for me.

The ipad fits into a silicone bezel that completely surrounds it with notches for the home, face cam and power. The case can unfold to use the rear cam. The silicone does cover the speaker and that could be an issue for some people but I find the sound more than adequate as evidenced by my having to tell my kids to turn it down often.

The case substrate material seems to be cardboard and IMHO gets a bit more flexy over time. The silicone bezel has a tendency to rip or tear as it must be stretched slightly to take the ipad in and out. That said, even if it does rip the ipad stays put because the bezel surrounds the ipad. You'd have to rip off an entire side before I'd get worried about it slipping out. I have used mine with two rips (thanks to my boys) for two years with no worries at all.

The bump stops that keep the ipad up in the landscape viewing position work most of the time although it does slip past them more now it seems especially the outboard one that puts it in the flatter (more face-up) viewing angle.

All-in-all I have been very happy with this case and I am about to purchase a new one.

eTrex Vista

eTrex Vista
  • Garmin 0100024300 Etrex Vista GPS

Garmin's first-generation eTrex Vista was my third handheld GPS, after a Magellan Explorist 200 and a Garmin Geko, and was by far my favorite of the three. Ability to upload topographic maps and waypoints by the hundreds, and a magnetic compass which can show direction even when you're not moving, make this a great geocaching tool. While I never purchased the available detailed road maps, the included base map shows towns and major highways, and was more than enough on cross-country drives to estimate times of arrival -"Can we make it to Austin by evening, or should we look for a place to stay now?" Made my trip much happier.

I'd give the Vista five stars, but honestly it is a somewhat dated product. You'll need an adapter to connect it to a USB port, and it doesn't have the higher sensitivity of newer GPS units. But for the right price, this is a great option for a hiker, geocacher, or interstate driver.

This GPS does not have a USB cord. It is totally obsolete and can not work with anything but an old PC. I would give it half a star if I could.

Cell Phone Case, Hunter GreenI am a beginning runner who lives in the country. For safety, I always carry my cellphone and identification when I run, and I bought this holder to circumvent the fact that most running shorts don't have pockets.

This cellphone holder is sturdy and well-constructed, but flexible enough to allow me to slide my ID/health information cards behind the phone. The band, which fits easily around the arm or lower leg, is slightly stretchy for comfort. I prefer to wear this holder around my ankle, where it seems least likely to interfere with normal circulation.

While I haven't experienced this, I suppose it's possible that the heavier stitching on the back of the case may cause chafing if the holder is worn over exposed skin, although I'm inclined to doubt that this would be a problem.

In conclusion, this is an excellent product for a fair price. It would be useful not only for runners, but for anyone who'd like the hold their cellphone, ID, and maybe a house key without pockets. (This product was, in fact, originally designed for horseback riders.) I am highly satisfied with this product, and would not hesitate to recommend it.

I love to go horseback riding out on the trail, and I always carry a cellphone in case of emergency. This cellphone holder can be worn on the arm or leg for secure, quick and easy access. The item description doesn't mention the adjustable velcro band is also elasticized to help keep it in place. I have worn the holder on my arm, over a slippery nylon jacket, and the holder didn't slide around as might be expected. I purchased the holder in yellow; it's a bright, bumblebee yellow, with black trim, not the soft, buttery yellow shown in the picture. Not a complaint, since it could be just the way my monitor shows it. Whatever color you might choose, I think you will find this cellphone holder a helpful item. Highly recommended!

I received 2 of these today and I first thought they were going to be too small for my Blackberry Curve 8310. However, the entire case is made of a quite stretchy but sturdy material and it expanded enough to fit my phone. The quality of the case is quite good and will not easily rip apart. As the other reviewer mentioned, the strap is elasticised and adjustable and long enough to fit around your leg but can still fit securely around your arm without having any excess stick out. It's perfect for keeping your phone on you regardless of what you're doing.

Received my holder today and it is absolutely perfect for when I ride my horses. Now if something should happen I can always be a phone call away. Fits my I-Phone with no problem, stayed where I put it on my leg just below the knee and was actually quite comfortable. The places to use this holder are endless in my opinion. I highly recommend this model of holder.

I purchased this as a gift for my teenager who loves to ride horses. Since she never goes anywhere without her cell phone, I thought she might like this, and I was right. She wears it on her ankle instead of her thigh. She's a big girl, so I don't know if it's because the straps are too short or just for comfort, but she doesn't seem to mind wearing it on her ankle. She thought it was going to be too small for her phone (a droid), but it is stretchy enough that it holds it securely.

Compaq iPAQ Serial Auto Sync Cable

Compaq iPAQ Serial Auto Sync Cable
  • For the Compaq iPAQ H3650 Pocket PC
  • Synchronize your iPAQ Pocket PC at home and the office with ease
  • Charger sold separately
  • Serial port compatible
  • 3-foot cable connects your iPAQ to a PC

I bought this cable in order to connect my iPaq to my Motorola Timeport PT8167 (or something like that). There was a lot of misinformation out there stating that in order to use the iPaq with a cell phone, that you had to purchase some sort of CF adapter (I think it's made by Socket). That's all good, but the CF adapter costs $120 or so, you have to have the CF sleeve, and if you do, you can't have anything else in the CF sleeve =(

So I bought this and connected the serial cable to the iPaq, attached the supplied null modem adapter (included with my phone), attached the phone cable to the phone, set up connnection in the iPaq, and it dialed and worked. I was literally surfing the net on my iPaq within 10 minutes. The best thing about this is that my CF sleeve can hold my CF card or I can use the phone with a sleeve at all! My next project is to splice together the two cables to avoid the 15 feet of cable and cumbersome null modem adapter. I want a cable that is about 8 inches long that connects directly from phone to PDA.

If you still run Windows NT4 and you have an Ipaq, you cannot use USB. So either upgrade to 2000/XP, or buy this. Serial is really slow, though, so I'd recommend upgrading, personally.

I purchesed the serial cable to apply to Windows NT network (USB does not work). Cable provides reliable connection never had a failure. Very convenient and easy to use.

I bought mine for the road and for just using while at work. I like it because i never have to pull my IPAQ out of the velcroed travel case that I use for carrying it. I am actually thinking of getting another one for home or even the usb version but really I haven't noticed any diff. in speed of transfer.

Seriously it is a great cable...and I recommend having it.

But I still think there are better ways to sync or use your cell phone or modem. Why make things more complicated than they have to be? That is why you need this cable -just in case Murphy's law decides to show its face.

Flexibility is the only reason to have it...

Crucial's Ballistix Sport memory is greqat value for the money. I haver used it a lot in many system builds and never had a failure. Plus I have overclocked many times using it. It will not take extreme OC settings, but definitely exceeds its ratings in the boxes where I have done mild overclocking. Very much worth the money.

Fellowes WriteRight for Palm m505 (98081)

Fellowes WriteRight for Palm m505
  • For Palm m505
  • Micro-thin clear overlays are designed to protect from scratches, reduce screen glare and improve handwriting recognition
  • Contains 12 WriteRight Screen Protectors
  • Designed to be removed without leaving a residue or damaging your screen

Unlike another reviewer, i believe that the PDA scrren needs to be protected...I owned another Palm, and the stylus after a while scratched the screen, especially in the grafiti area. So when i got my new M515, i bought these screen proctectors. They are not smooth, but rather a textured surface that on the color screen creates diagonal lines similar to a color Tv with bad reception. The look of the screen is opaque. Also, i find the the grafiti recognition was greatly REDUCED when I applied these protectors. Bottom line. Not worth the [money]. Try the clear ones made by NuShiled and CompanionLink. But do get a screen protector. It will scratch eventually.

I hardly ever write these, but when I see a favorite product with such a low score, I must speak up! I've had these for well over a year and have only used THREE films. I can't even remember when I put the last one on my m505, and it's still in one piece and clear; it still doesn't need to be replaced. The last time I looked at it (without the film), my screen still looked brand new, though it's now 2 years old. At the rate I'm going, I'll probably replace my PDA before I need another package of the WriteRight. I highly recommend this product.

These are a joke. They are soft and make the stylus drag IF you can get the thing lined up right on the screen. I threw them away after 10 minutes of struggle.

I waxed my screen. That's right WAXED IT! I had a bottle of ArmorAll Fast Wax handy. That is liquid, squirt it on car wax. I used a little dap and rubbed it in. I works GREAT! The screen is slippery and smooth as silk. It seems to repel finger prints and dust and wipes clean very easy. And it is cheap!

I got these for my Nokia 6682 and cut them to fit, because I was balking at how expensive most screen protectors are. Because they are soft films, not hard pieces of plastic like some, they give anything viewed through them a slightly mottled appearance. Also, you can scratch them with a fingernail. If you press down hard when you write, you'll notice that they're a little sticky. But they do go on easily and come off with no residue.

Navman GPS 4460 Wireless Bluetooth GPS Receiver with SmartST Navigation Software for PalmOS 5.0 Hand

Navman GPS 4460 Wireless Bluetooth GPS Receiver with SmartST Navigation Software for PalmOS 5.0 Handhelds
  • 12 Channel Receiver
  • MCX External Antenna
  • Vehicle adapter
  • 30 Hour Battery Life
  • SmartST

I have a Palm Tungsten T2, and bought the Navman GPS 4460 to provide GPS capability for the occasional road trip and/or business trip. I had also considered the Delorme Earthmate, but decided against it based on some feedback on the web regarding the accuracy of the maps and lack of voice guidance. The one review I did find on the relatively new GPS 4460 convinced me that this was worth investigating.

The GPS 4460 comes with the GPS receiver unit, a couple of mounting brackets for the receiver and the Palm PDA, a memory card reader, a 12V car adapter for the receiver unit, 3 AAA size batteries, and 4 CDs of software/maps. The receiver unit fits nicely into its associated mount, which can then be easily attached to the inside of your rear window. This assembly is held in place to the window by a suction cup. The PDA can then ride up front with the driver in it's own cradle (usually plugged into a cigarette lighter socket).

The software for the PDA is excellent, as are the maps (as far as I've tested them, that is). Entering destinations is easy once the maps are loaded onto the SD/MMC card (which you must have and is not included in the kit). The voice guidance is clear, if a bit confused at times (i.e. it can ask you to bear left and make a right turn, even though the visual map indicates that you should keep going straight). The best work round for this, as always, is the judicious use of common sense. The visual cues (when you can safely look at the display while driving) are also excellent. As a PDA is used as the output/display, screen contrast, brightness and audio volume are are limited by the PDA you have on hand. So far the T2 has performed acceptably except in bright sun light (when the display becomes nearly unreadable).

Now for my MAJOR peeves with the system the installation software and instructions are UNFORGIVABLY bad. First, you need to purchase a SD/MMC card for map storage etc this is not provided in the kit. Second, installing the desktop software crashed my computer (because it tried to it's own drivers for an existing card reader I had in place something I had to go back and fix). Third, when I tried to activate the software (and followed instructions on the screen and quick start guide), it was in no way clear that THE SD/MMC CARD SHOULD BE IN THE CARD READER AND NOT IN THE PALM. What activation does (I'm surmising from experience) is to install the license key onto the SD/MMC card. Once that is done, the software on the PDA will work (because it sees the key when the SD/MMC card is in the PDA) and the Map transfer software will work (because it also sees the key when the SD/MMC card is in the card reader). Fourth, I got memory errors on the PDA when I first tried to run the software (which were fixed with a soft reset, but none of this was clearly mentioned as a remote possibility).

So in closing the unit is working great now that I have it running. Getting it up and running was a problem as noted above. Some better/clearer documentation on the installation front would have been nice. Had it not been for the lousy install, I'd have rated this as a 5 star product.

The maps and GPS receiver function well, but the software has several obvious omissions that undermine the true potential of the system:

1). Doesn't allow listing POI's by distance from your current location instead it lists all POI's in the database in alphabetical order. When in an unfamiliar area, I'd like to be able to select restaurants or gas stations and have the software list all available sorted by distance from my current location, rather than requiring me to know the exact names and locations. I mean, for a gas station, what's more important, the name or how close it is? (Especially when you're running on fumes in an unfamiliar area).

2). Lack of integration with native Palm software applications, most notably the address book/contact database application. It really should be able to link to the address book to plot contact addresses that is such an obvious omission. It doesn't even allow you to copy and paste addresses into the navigation software.

3). Tapping on a location or POI on the map causes a pop up menu to appear that allows you to see the name of the POI or street and to select it as a "departure" or "navigate to" point or to add it to your favorites, but a more helpful and useful feature would be to have the name, address and phone number pop up and to offer the option of adding that information, not only to the favorites list but also to the Palm's address book for future reference and use.

4). Lack of road-type options. It allows you to avoid toll roads and urban areas and allows you to select either quickest or shortest routes, but having the option to select most or least use of freeways or side streets would really be helpful...as well as having the ability to reroute around traffic congestion.

5). The POI feature does not allow text entry searching, instead you start with "country" then "category" then "type" and finally "area". Having the ability to type in a name or partial name would be very helpful when trying to locate specific points of interest...like a restaurant. For example; a search for a restaurant in Dallas, TX requires you to go to the Points of Interest screen, select a country, select a category (Food and Drink), select a type (restaurant) and then provide an area to search. If you type in "Dallas" for the area you are provided with a list of restaurants in alphabetical order through which you may scroll down four screens which doesn't even get through the "A"s...so, unless you only like eating at restaurants that have names beginning with either numbers or letters from "A" through "AL" then you won't be finding what you want on this software. Attempting to narrow down the search by entering a zip code for downtown Dallas just makes the software default to listing every restaurant in the state again only four screens of scrollable selections hope you like eating at restaurants with numbers for names. As a result of this problem, the POI feature is basically useless.

6). The company does most of its business in Europe and that fact is evident by the software's menu layout, some menu items and the use of European spelling (i.e. petrol stations, exhibition centre). This product was clearly ported over from European versions of the software and was rushed to the US marketplace without adequate "real world" testing and as a result, the final product much more resembles a playful toy than a serious tool. In fact, you could say that a more appropriate name for the Navman SmartST software would be the Navman DumbST software ;) The software translates fairly well for the most part, but I'm hopeful that future versions are more tailored to the way Americans think and the way this country is mapped out.

Though no application is ever a panacea, there are just a few too many compromises required with this particular system to justify keeping it. I plan to return my Navman in hopes of finding a Palm GPS system that's more feature rich and better integrated with the Palm computing platform's applications.

Dylan Spears review is an excellent one. This is product is certainly not for serious use. Software needs lot of work. GPS box is pretty good. Always gets a fix and bluetooth connection is reliable. Navman is going to come up with a new software release in late summer.

Other shortcomings of this products are

1) Lack of charger adapter for Palm. They could have easily used a Y style cable and plug to charge palm.

2) Software always chooses the same route irrespective of the routing option (Fastest / Shortest) chosen. e.g. San jose to LA always picks 580 to I-5. Shorter route is 152E to I-5.

3) Suction mount for GPS is inconvenient. Power plug and the indicator is on the glass side. You have to hunt for power switch to turn it on and then in day time it's hard to figure out whether it is ON or not.

4) GPS hw always turns off even if external power is present. You always have to turn it on. Kind of annoying.

5) SW crashes often. It will start repeating a turn again and again and again then die.

6) Suction mount for PDA has wrong orientation if you want to mount it on the windsheild left to your steering (best position). Glue on Plastic base is not heat resistant. Falls off in an hour if you leave your car in sun.

7) Database errors. Out of 10 destinations 3 were wrong. They were not in a new area.

8) Limited display option. You can not see time and distance to destination at the same time.

9) Does not understand zip code. Takes lot of time to enter an address.

I was looking for a Palm pda based vehicle navigational system and researched the market for gps products. I short listed three products delorme bluelogger, tomtom BT navigator and navman 4460. The delorme was cheaper but lost on maturity of product, quality issues listed on their forum and did not include pda and gps mounting accessories.

The tomtom was comparable to navman but did not have replaceable battery! I decided on Navman 4460.

The install is not straight forward but quite confusing. The software initially failed to download maps and gave a confusing error message that application is corrupted. I had inkling that it needed software keys installed and that did the trick.

Once the software was installed, it worked fine. But I could only use only a part of Tungsten T3 screen. It needed another software download to get full screen usage. Why it was not part of initial install? It beats me as the required files are included on CD.

The software is easy to use. The GPS fix is immediately obtained. It is very easy to set destination and navigate. The PDA mounter and gps windshield mounter are suction type but really solid. The pda mounter is not a true ball and socket joint type but it is not really a problem. The bluetooth works fine. The auto-rerouting works great. The db is pretty good.

I am very happy with software but after some usage found the following features lacking:

1. Ability to avoid certain areas or road stretch is not available. One of the big reasons I got it is to avoid traffic jams.

2. The Router Demonstrator could not be speeded up! The path could not be manually navigated on screen! It is pretty useless without these two features.

3. The Map panning does not work very well. Many times it does not move the map. The map of a large area could not be easily viewed.

4. There is no desktop routing or map software. It would have been so much convenient to view/plan routes and maps on big desktop screen.

Despite the lack of above features, it is a great product and has worked flawlessly. I am taking one star off for install and lack of some features.

I ordered this knowing that it wasn't listed as compatible with my Tungsten T5. I tried many times to get the software to work but it didn't. I ended up installing Mapopolis software and have been using it for over 6 months.

The Navman works perfectly with Mapopolis on my T5. The receiver is very small and sits on my car dashboard. It is small enough that you could put it in a coat pocket or purse if walking around. Battery life is great I haven't timed it but I'm sure it is around the 15hrs of active use that other people have found. If you are just an occasional user like I am, this translates into months of use before the battery dies.

My only complaint is that they never bothered to update their software to make it compatible with the T5.

Blue Neoprene Exercise Sports Active Workout Armband with Adjustable Velcro Strap for HTC Inspire 4G

Blue Neoprene Exercise Sports Active Workout Armband with Adjustable Velcro Strap for HTC Inspire 4G Wireless Mobile Phone + INCLUDES!!! SumacLife TM Wisdom Courage Wristband
  • Made of a breathable Neoprene material to avoid moisture build up while you workout.
  • Clear window lets you see your phone's screen so you can see who's calling you or check the time
  • Velcro Adjustable strap allows you to adjust the armband for a more comfortable fit
  • Protects your HTC Inspire 4G from unnecessary bump, dents, and scratches.
  • INCLUDES!!! SumacLife TM Wisdom Courage Wristband

I love my new HTC Inspire and wanted to be able to listen to music, podcast and radio while out running. This armband case fits the Inspire (and other HTC phones of similar size. It seems fairly well made and looks like it should last for a while. Note that the phone just slides into the pocket on the armband it also can slide out. The first time I used it, I was struggling with the strap & velcro, and the phone slid out and hit the ground. (No serious damage, fortunately.) And that brings me to my second point I wear this on my bicep (isn't that where most people wear these?), and while I have a muscular arm, it isn't exactly huge (16 1/2 inches) the strap on this case just barely fits around my bicep. If your arm is larger, plan on wearing it on your forearm, or order something else. The other drawback to the case is that it's not waterproof, so after a long run, the inside of the case can become damp from sweat not the best environment for sensitive electronics.
