CTA Digital Bluetooth Phone Handset with Leather Case for iPad
- Convenient Wireless Bluetooth Phone Connection
- Comfort and Privacy of a Handheld Phone
- Ideal for Skype or other VoIP Internet Calls
- Stylish Leather Case Holds and Protects iPad
- Folio-Style Case Folds Into Stand
- Sleek and Slim Black Handset Design
- Soft Suede Interior with Storage for Phone and Cables
This innovative case has accurate cut-outs for the iPad. The depth of the iPad mini is approximately 0.37 inch (9.4 mm) and nestles quite nicely in this case. The cut-out for the iSight camera is spot on as are the ones for lighting connector, openings for the built-in stereo speakers, lightning port connector, headphone minijack, volume buttons, mute switch, etc. The 1/2" (12.7 mm) covers the opening for the iSight camera when the case is closed. As always, if you own an iPad you're constantly worried about protection. Mind you, there are those freakish accidents, but this case is solid and should hold up if it's dropped.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX:
~ Leather Case
~ Bluetooth Handset
~ Charging Cable for Handset
SPECS:
~ The handset is compatible with iPad, iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone and most other Bluetooth enabled phones and computers
~ Case compatible with iPad 2 and the new iPad
~ Talk Time: 5H, Standby Time: 200H, charging Time: 2H
The iPad can easily be inserted into the case and once that is done a 2" (50.8 mm) leather flap with Velcro attachments can be tucked back around the case at the side to hold it in. The inside of the case is lined with a complimentary-colored light gray suede. There is a recessed pocket for the Bluetooth phone handset and another one that holds the charging cable. The recessed cable compartment is covered and secured by two Velcro attachments. There's also room enough for a few other small items in this compartment. There is a magnetic clasp that will keep the case close with a simple flip of the cover. This case is a folio and can be easily adjusted for viewing in both vertical (portrait) and horizontal (landscape) positions.

This is a nice looking leather case with a beautiful textured exterior. The interior is soft suede to protect your iPad from scratches and drops. The lid is held shut with an elastic strap to keep the top flap closed and protect the iPad screen if you were to drop the case. The case also has some additional features that are useful to the user. It can be set up in a stand mode to allow you to read or the watch movies in the landscape mode. There are magnets in the case that will put the iPad into a sleep mode when you close the lid and awaken it when you open the lid. In addition the iPad is held securely in place by a fold-in leather flap that is secured with a Velcro strip.
Inside of the case you will find a thin line style Bluetooth phone handset that will let you talk like you would on a normal phone system. The linking of the phone to your iPad is fast, simple and easy. It is ideal for those that use their iPad for Skype or a VoIP internet call system. There is also a covered storage area that contains a USB cable for use when charging the Bluetooth handset. The storage area is also big enough to hold your ear plugs for listening to your music. The handset can be used to talk for 5 hours or be on standby for 200 hours. The charging time is about two hours and you can charge it with your computer or any USB AC powered wall charger. A charger does not come with the case. The nice thing about using a phone hand set is that people sitting around you cannot hear the other person speaking and for many people using a phone handset will just seem more natural.
There are a couple of issues that for me were problems. I linked the phone handset with two iPads and two iPhones and in all cases we had a buzzing noise in the background for the person receiving the call. When we did not use the hand set the buzzing was not present. The other issue is that I hold the iPad to read a lot and when I folded over the cover my hand was trying to hold the case right where the suede cover was covering the storage area. It just felt awkward and anything in the storage area would eventually fall out.
Overall the case is beautiful on the outside and the finish on the leather exterior is top quality. I rate the product as a four star item because of the buzzing in the call being heard by the person receiving the phone call. The buzzing is not so loud that you cannot use the phone handset but it is noticeable to anyone you call and they will comment on it.
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.

We have several different iPad/Android tablet cases.
Most of them are similar in style and function with the notable exception of the PadPivot which is an extraordinary and unique tablet stand.
But, this portfolio by CTA is a very nice leather tri-fold with several compartments and an internet phone.
*** Construction ***
The construction is made of a smooth grey suede interior with a black leather exterior.
When closed, it feels sturdy like a hardcover book.
***
You also have a connector compartment with enough space for a second plug or pair of wired (or wireless earplugs).
***
The phone is a nice option. I use several different wireless, Bluetooth headsets, so I probably would use the enclosed phone very infrequently.
***
The case can fit all of the current versions of the iPad, 1-4. iPad 5 is being redesigned, so we'll have to wait on its applicability here.
But, if you have an Android tablet that is the same dimensions as an iPad, then you'd have the option of owning a very nice, elegant and sturdy tablet portfolio.

Hesitent, i purchased this one, based on the reviews. The shipping was ridiculous, took well over a month, and the company was a pain to deal with, but the product is fantastic.
The leather is nice, it fits perfectly with this model e-reader, and the closure is nice and secure.

Official Nintendo Universal Hard Case for DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL - Wine
It's way too big to fit in your pocket so if your looking for something that will this isn't for you, but if you don't mind carrying this around you would be stupid not to buy this.Very nice hardcase. Solid latch and room for enough games to keep the kids occupied. These things bounce and protect the DS inside. Its good to keep the console, stylus and games organised in one robust package.

Quit looking!! This is the ONE! Walls are RIGID and the latches are good quality. The inside layout is VERY good with a rubber liner in the bottom well and there is room for 6 games in the lid (which also has a rubber liner). A "spacer" is included for the bottom well which allows configuration for a smaller game "console". I have a hard snap on cover for my DSi so I had to shave off a little bit of the spacer, but when I was done, the whole console (cover and all) went right inside with a nice snug fit. And for once, I am TOTALLY happy with the price...CHEAP insurance for your investment!Read Best Reviews of Official Nintendo Universal Hard Case for DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL - Wine Here
This was purchased as a gift. The person I gave it to is very happy with it. I bought a soft side case for someone else in the past and this case is far better than the other. Not only does it provide better protection for the system but also provides more space for accessories. If you are looking for a DS case I would recommend this one.Want Official Nintendo Universal Hard Case for DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL - Wine Discount?
Extremely large, clunky case. Defeats the purpose of a portable handheld console by storing it in a container that is too big to take with you. Will NOT fit in your pocket.Saturday, May 3, 2014
MSI X460DX-008US: 14Inch HD (1366x768) Laptop, 2.1Ghz Core i3-2310M, NVIDIA GeForce GT540M, 4GB DDR3
- The 2nd generation Intel Core i3 Processor
- RAM: 4 GB
- 500 GB
- 14', nVIDIA Geforce GT540M 3D Graphic Card
- Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
Another issue I have come across is the placement of some of the keys on the keyboard. The right shift key is smaller than on a full size keyboard, with the up arrow right next to it. Many times while typing, I will accidentally hit the up key instead of shift. This also occurs with the small backspace key, where I will often hit the home key instead. Otherwise, the keyboard performs well. It has a nice action without a lot of noise.
The touchpad works well, especially with the included drivers. It enables multitouch much like a Macbook does (I bought this after selling my Macbook Pro). Not quite as smooth as the Macbook, but things like three finger left swipe takes you back in the browser. Pinch to zoom also works, although again not as smooth as what a Macbook has. Two finger scrolling also works well. An issue I have come across is the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the touchpad will sometimes activate when I don't want it to, scrolling me over instead of selecting what I want. It took some getting used to.
Otherwise, the screen looks great and has good brightness when turned all the way up. Seat-of-the-pants feeling places battery life on par with the MBP. I can get a good 6-7 hours out of word processing and web browsing.
Finally, the fit and finish of this are good, better than what I have seen from other manufacturers. The weight is not too heavy. It feels lighter than the MBP, but not as well built. The body is thin, and overall it is easy to carry around.
I took one star off because of the throttling on battery without a way to turn it off, as well as the keyboard design. Without those two things, it would have been five stars.Note: This is actually about the MSI X460DX-216US which has apparently been discontinued http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005WPUNU0/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00 but MSI has done such an awful job with customer service that I wanted to write a review on the closest model I could find.
1/20/12: Purchased MSI laptop. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. Plus it was less expensive than a comparable Dell, and it ran computer drafting programs and 3D graphics games pretty well! Especially for the cost.
6/25/12: Laptop suddenly developed a problem where, if picked up or if resting my wrists on the empty space on either side of the touchpad, the laptop turns itself off. Tried this with and without the battery while plugged in and not plugged in and it happens consistently under all conditions. Since I was out of town at the time, I just used my laptop very delicately while placing it on a desk instead of my lap.
8/15/12: Finally home. Tested a theory where I hooked up the laptop to an external monitor and used a wireless keyboard and mouse. Laptop ran without any shutdowns for well over a week (never powered off). This confirms to me that it is something within the laptop that has a loose connection.
9/3/12: Went to MSI customer support and arranged an RMA online. It was quick and painless. Things are looking up!
9/17/12: On the MSI RMA status website, my laptop is indicated as "Your RMA has been received and is now in replacement, testing, or repair process."
9/21/12: MSI called me to tell me that they can't replicate the problem. I told them that they're insane because the problem occurred for me every time I would pick up the laptop. I told them so and they said they would look into it.
10/3/12: The MSI RMA status website has not changed. Called MSI to ask where my laptop is. After being on the phone for a half hour, I was told I would be emailed with more information. Apparently they have been waiting for a replacement motherboard and my laptop will be shipped out on 10/17/12.
10/24/12: The MSI RMA status website has not changed. I do not have a laptop. Called MSI to ask where my laptop is. After waiting on hold for 15 minutes, a recording told me to leave a voicemail. I left a very irritated voicemail. Then I sent an irritated email as a reply to the email that told me the laptop would be shipped out a week ago. Then I went to Amazon.com to write an angry review.
TL;DR version:
MSI Customer service is a joke. They have had my laptop for over a month and a half for what seems to me to be a very obvious diagnosis. This was my first MSI laptop I usually buy Dell. Dell had amazing customer service and they would promptly fix my problems whenever they arose. Dell would have shipped me a brand new laptop by now. One time I sent in my Dell (desktop) computer for repair and since that model was discontinued, they sent me the newer model, which was a thorough upgrade that I got entirely free of charge. THAT is customer service. Dell, I am sorry for abandoning you. MSI, words cannot fully express my disappointment. You have failed me for the last time. This laptop delivers good performance for the price however it does not last at all. From opening and closing the lid the hinge magically breaks and eventually the monitor backing separates like it was cheaply glued together. Seeing that I am currently outside of the US I can't simply return it. I was trying to cope with the broken hinge until the webcam seems to have stopped working and now two out of my three USB ports seem to be gone as well. And this is after owning it for about 4-5 months.
Great looking laptop but S***TY QUALITY
WASTE OF MONEY, WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING MSI AGAIN -_-Bought the laptop for a friend who needed a gaming laptop. The laptop was a great deal, pretty much half price to other comparable laptops. Runs D3 on high and runs smoothly.
I liked the layout of the laptop, I liked the functional buttons, very well thought out.
The glossy surface of the keypad shows some fingerprints but it didn't really bother me.
Great value, well designed gaming laptop.
Would 100% recommend.

rooCASE Multi-Angle (Black) Leather Folio Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 GT-P7300 GT-P7310
The Good:
* The case is elegant, super thin, lightweight, black leather.
* When open, all ports, cameras, speakers, and buttons are accessible.
The Bad:
* Only supports a single viewing position, not the multiple ones shown.
* Can only charge when case is fully open.
I'd probably have given this more stars if it was what was advertised and what I expected, although I'd expect a single position case like this to cost appreciably less too.
It isn't a bad case, just not what is advertised.I was looking for a case for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. As mentioned in previous reviews, I could not find this case in any electronic stores and the cases I saw in stores, cost much more and did not provide a custom fit for the Samsung Galaxy 8.9.
What I like about this case is: 1. It gives protection to my tablet in a light weight compact case. 2. Case is customized for the Samsung Galaxy 8.9. There are holes cut in the case around the power and volume controls, cameras, microphone, speakers and input/charging cable port which allow the tablet to be used while still in the case. 3. This case can also be used as a stand that can be set at multiple angles. 4. While in the case, tablet is easier to grip when using in hand held mode. I am very pleased with this product. We couldn't find a case for our new Samsung Tablet that wasn't way overpriced at the local brick and mortar stores. This case is well designed, fit perfectly and the price was right. Would highly recommend it.This case is exactly what I was looking for. It was nice to find it online because none of the electronics stores had accessories for my item in stock yet. I can't use it with the other case I bought, but it definitely serves the purpose that I bought it for; to prop up my tablet and keep it safe from dings and drops.

CardScan Office (600c/V6) Business Card Scanner
- All the benefits of the CardScan Executive plus support for up to 6 people
- Multiple users can access shared information
- Create password-protected databases for private contacts
- Scans black or full-color business cards in just seconds
- Convenient USB connection
The software parsing works unbelievably well. In lay terms parsing means that the software knows what is a company name and what is an email address and puts them into the right place, unless the font is highly graphical. The older models couldn't read white type on dark cards, but this one can. Also, once you receive it and have the box sitting on your desk, it seems intimidating to install, but it only takes about 1/2 hour to install so that the data goes automatically into ACT!.
I test alot of software/hardware products but most of them I return. The card scanner and the palm pilot are my two staples. This product I not only use but demo. It's very impressive. And years later clients thank me for having recommended it.

Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N Smart Access Point (AP300)
- Add long range, high speed 300Mbps MIMOwireless access to your existing network
- Add 4 wired ports for connecting additionalcomputers, printers and other network devices
- Install anywhere with the convenienceof Power over Ethernet
- No setup required. Connects to your home routerwith true plug and play
All that to say: I really appreciate it when a piece of tech just works right out of the box, with little effort on my part. Makes life easier, and no headaches.
This Amped Smart Access Point is one such animal. Lotta help, with little effort.
Our wireless router is in the basement, two floors from where I typically do my writing. The wireless coverage is good enough, but there have definitely been instances where I wished for better coverage on the second floor. Getting a wireless access point was something I had thought about in the past, but hadn't yet gotten around to. Then I saw this item in the Vine catalog. Had to try it out.
In the room that I write in, I also had a wired switch to connect other appliances to the Internet. So when I realized this AP300 had four wired connection ports in addition to the wireless, I knew exactly what I'd do with it. I just swapped it for the wired switch.
And it was literally no more than that. I unplugged the switch and all the Ethernet cables, plugged in the Amped machine and those same cables, and wha-laa, everything worked as before, and my wireless service was better. The only thing I had to consult the manual for was the wireless password. That's it!
As an additional test, I checked the wireless coverage on our outside patio. I hoped at some point to be able to surf with my laptop or e-reader while lounging outside. This access point gives me about a bar or two better reception outdoors than the wireless router alone. (I never checked before. I just assumed since I live in a brick house that it wouldn't work. It would, but now it will work for a much wider area.)
So, overall, life made easier, and with little hassle. The AP300 is a big winner in my book!
** Update 05/04/2012 ** I've had this unit in constant use since I originally reviewed it (August 24, 2011) and it is still going strong. Can't beat it!
Buy Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N Smart Access Point (AP300) Now
I just received the Amped Wireless Access Point and within 5 minutes was up an running on my iPas and a Windows 7 PC. I had a problem with my Windows XP machine but after speaking with customer service (which answered my phone call within 2 minutes-no wait time) was shown how to configure the device to include XP as well. All three now work very well and the signal strength at the far end of my house is much stronger than my previous Trendnet Access Point.Obvioulsy, it is early but the initial impression is very good.

This access point was very easy to set up using the included instructions. In no time I was seeing a faster connection. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a stronger wireless signal.Want Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N Smart Access Point (AP300) Discount?
I opened the box, I attached it to my modem/router and it worked!Frontier installed a new modem/wireless router (which was a waste of resources because my five year old modem had worked just fine, the problem was with their service.) Anyway it made my current wireless router redundant-in fact one tech insisted I disconnect it which I did because I was being ultra-cooperative in an effort to get something done. This however resulted in a loss of signal to one office in a distant part of the building.
The access point restored signal strength to the computer in the distant office and I can now in fact sit in the parking lot and pick up an adequate signal. The lot is approximately 105 feet deep and I have a wireless signal on all of it through wood, plaster, brick and all.
Recommended.I bought this item in part because of the Power over Ethernet feature. It turns out to be a non-standard, passive power scheme. This device does NOT comply with IEEE 802.3af, so beware. I have returned mine.

PalmOne Zire 71 Handheld
- Bright, 320x320 transflective TFT color display supports more than 65,000 colors
- Texas Instruments OMAP310 processor (ARM); 144 MHz
- Integrated digital camera with 640x480 resolution, auto exposure, and automatic white balance control
- SD expansion slot
- Zire 71 Handheld, Protective Carrying Case, USB HotSync Cradle, Power Adapter, Desktop Software CD-ROM, Software Essentials CD-ROM, Stylus
I do agree 16megs is a bit chincey esp when only 13megs is available for application usage. My biggest gripe is the carrying case. The Elastic is so tight that it sets off the joystick every time I insert it. I miss the hard plastic cover from my handspring. Palm could have given better protection than that. That's why it gets only 4 stars.
Anyone looking for an up grade from their old PDA would do well to steer in the direction PALM has taken. Top of the line device, though you may want to get a hard shell case to protect it.
Buy PalmOne Zire 71 Handheld Now
Despite Sony's slick Clies banging on their hood, Palm has not exactly been known to be very friendly in the bargain department. The Zire I at its low pricetag was an initiate's machine in the Low-Cost-Low-Features bracket. Surprise surprise -the Zire II, er, Zire 71 not only packs a full punch at 300 US$ but also ups the ante on multimedia handhelds!THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Comes (finally) with OS 5.2 and its sharp fonts + cool icons/themes.
2. Sleek glossy blue skin
3. A light 5.3 ounces in weight
4. A 320x320 screen sporting 65,000 colors screen
5. An awesome VGA (640x480) digicam, but be prepared for a 1-2 second
delay in shutter click. To its credit though the viewfinder software appears very quickly.
6. A revamped PalmDesktop with a conveniently integrated photo-management module, which makes it a snap not only to load pictures onto your handheld, but also to view, organize, and even e-mail those you've taken with it. Also includes basic image-editing features like cropping, rotating, and red-eye reduction.
7. And the AudiblePlayer that enables you to listen to the huge library of spoken-word content from Audible.com
8. A better handwriting recognizing software Graffiti 2
9. A joystick type navigation "nipplehead"
10. Out of the box MP3 support (RealOne Mobile Player)
11. Above all, a snazzy "Kinoma Producer" software to produce movies specifically for your handheld, in 4 easy steps
CAVEATS:
1. No bluetooth (not that I'd need or use it but would have been cool. HP 5455 has both WiFi and BT!)
2. No With all this multimedia doohickey, a voice recorder wasn't much to throw in
3. Only a 16 MB of ram, kinda low for a device with this target market
4. Lack of a good screen cover
5. Digicam pics may be a little slow to save to memory
IN SUMMARY:
Despite the few minor grouses, a great offering from the Palm camp for entertainment junkies packing in mp3 player, audible player, movie player, camera and an Clie/iPaq type screen. May not be a great reason to upgrade if you already have a PDA, but if you are in the market for a new one, this is a superb buy.
Read Best Reviews of PalmOne Zire 71 Handheld Here
Just bought this Palm for a significant person in my life. Had the opportunity to prep it. The bright color screen is beautiful, and using the built-in camera can't get any easier. The screen feels a little slippery, and Graffiti 2, which still requires you to memorize some weird shorthands, takes some getting used to for people new to Graffiti and also old-time Palm users.Overall I'm still impressed with Palm's simplicity and speed. And I appreciate the ability to sync with Outlook, using an included third-party app.
But I'm very disappointed in the way Palm implements multimedia functions. In this area, the Pocket PC is way simpler. Let me expound.
To play audio files (only MP3 and RealAudio are supported), you MUST purchase a secure digital expansion card. Of course, given the Zire 71 only has 13MB of user memory, you wouldn't fit too many MP3 songs in the internal RAM anyway if you could. But, still, it would have been nice to be able to carry two favorite songs with me without the SD memory. And had Palm chosen to license Microsoft's WMA technology, we could get the same sound quality at half the file size as standard MP3.
So you need to purchase an SD card, and then install RealOne Player from the 2nd companion CD. The choice of RealOne is not a blessing, because Real's software is totally invasive, even more so than Microsoft's. And copying MP3 files from your Windows desktop to the Zire is a total pain: first you have to create a playlist in RealOne, then specify which files in RealOne to copy, and finally copy. With Pocket PC, I just use Windows Explorer to go to the My Music directory on the Pocket PC, and then drag-and-drop MP3 and WMA files. (On the Mac, you'd use Hotsync, which makes it easier than on Windows. It puzzles me why Palm chose not to implement the same technique on Windows.)
To play video files, you'd need to install both the Kinoma Player and Quick Time. Then, each time you want to copy a file to the Zire, you must use Kinoma to convert the source file (AVI, MPEG and MOV are supported), a time-consuming process. This is true on both Windows and Mac. If you have a fast P4 the process is not as painful, but still it's totally unnecessary. Again, on the PPC, I just drop-and-drop video files into the My Documents folder (or a subfolder) and voila.
So if you are buying the Zire 71 for multimedia functionalities, hold off your purchase and wait until Palm improves this area. If you are buying it for snapping pictures, go for it.
Want PalmOne Zire 71 Handheld Discount?
I just recieved a Palm Zire 71 as a birthday present. Previously I carried a "little black book" of names, addresses, email, phone numbers, etc.. Every few years it would fall apart from being carried everywhere. I planned on buying a bottom of the line PDA to replace my address book when my darling wife suprised me with the Zire 71.First the good, the screen looks great! It's bright, colorful, and contrasty. My coworkers with older color Palm PDA's all covet it. I'm going to put lots of pictures of my daughter in my PDA and use it for my brag book instead of carrying a bunch of pictures in my wallet. The handwriting recognition is ok but what I like about it is that I can enter the data on my PC then sync it with the PDA. I entered hundreds of entries from my address book in a few hours (quicker than I could have copied them to another address book!). I've been going through game withdrawal ever since giving up my Nokia cell phone with snake (my top game was over 1,100). I downloaded Tetris on my PDA which is a lot more fun.
Now the bad, 16MB of RAM is a little stingy now that RAM [costs so little]. My first addition will be a memory expansion card. I wish the Zire 71 came with everything to play MP3's. As it stands I'd rather buy a [] MP3 player than buy the card for this and then have multiple cards to keep track of. I don't know why the other reviewers consider the built in camera to be good. When you see the pictures on the 320x320 screen they are already downsampled; when you see them at full resolution on a computer screen they look awful; downsampling them to 320x240 doesn't make them look much better. Even the cheapest and worst digital camers takes better pictures than the little camera in the Zire 71. I like the idea of a digital camera in a PDA but as poor as this one is I think they should skipped it and made it a little cheaper or upgraded something else on it.
In sum, this is a great little unit but do budget for a memory expansion and don't get your hopes up too much for its camera.as well as the hotsyncing with xp.
The hotsynching although frustrating is dealable. I mainly only have trouble when I am trying to hotsync something that is online. Offline problems are less common, but then again most of my hotsyncing has been online so I am not sure how it would be offline.
My biggest problem is the battery life. I was told the battery is not replaceable. I think that sucks considering the price of something like this. Cell phones and gametoys are another thing their battery life may be short too but as far as phones go every year or two most companies give u an upgrade anyway (before battery totally dies)
Palms can be used everyday and the more on it (cameras, mp3, games etc) you use it even more and longer amount of time. Who wants to worry about the battery totally dying on you in a year. Palms are are like computers you get a new one and you have tons of info you have to reprogram and that is a major pain. Who wants to be forced to buy a whole new computer every year. I have had my palm for less than a year and battery life is getting bad. I have to do a overnight recharge everytime I look at it. (I am afraid to turn it on anymore so when I do happen to turn it on it battery is half gone) I dont use the camera much nor the mp3 player. I probably would use them alot if it wasnt for the battery. And like another reviewer said about this thing accidently turning on this thing is probably on a lot more than I think it is causing my lower battery life.

Dynex DX-UBDB9 USB PDA/Serial Adapter Cable - Serial adapter - USB - RS-232
- * Connects a device with a RS-232 (DB9) serial port to a USB hub or USB-equipped computer
I previously owned the USB-to-Serial adapter depicted in the picture above, and recently misplaced it. So I bought this product (DX-UBDB9) at a Best Buy. It is the same part number as the one mentioned on this page, but it was not the one in the picture above. I'm not sure if Dynex updated the product and kept the same part number or what. However, mine is Tan, not Grey. And my only trivial complaint is that the one I purchased has some kind of a transformer midway through the cable, where the one in the picture on this page didn't have one and was, therefore, slightly less bulky.
Buy Dynex DX-UBDB9 USB PDA/Serial Adapter Cable - Serial adapter - USB - RS-232 Now
Windows 7 linked me to the drivers no problem, I was surprised to find a piece of hardware that 7 didn't already have pre-installed.XP was a bit more problematic due to the manufactures lack of support. I was able to find them on a risqué third party site.
After assigning a comm port to it has been a great product to use, without any hiccups.I bought this assuming a USB and a serial interface were the same. Not true in all cases. If you are looking to interface a hot sync Palm platform, via a DB9 to USB cable, you need a special conversion interface in-line system which can be had for about $13. It pays to do your homework. The cable is great, but not for the application I intended.

I have used a couple different USB to RS-232 converters and I am quite pleased with this one. It is compact, robust, and works well. There are no status lights not important for my use but maybe for others. I use a HP EliteBook 8440p running Windows XP.I haven't tested this device with anything but my Windows 7 laptop but I found it installed fairly quickly. I bought a used one it worked just fine your milage may vary. I plan on using to configure network switches so bear in mind I'm not doing indepth testing just need a com port on laptop that doesn't have one. I hope you find this useful!Dynex DX-UBDB9 USB PDA/Serial Adapter Cable Serial adapter USB RS-232
