10M 2.4GHz USB Wireless Handheld Trackball Optical Mice Mouse/Black Wireless 2.4GHz Optical Hand-Hel

10M 2.4GHz USB Wireless Handheld Trackball Optical Mice Mouse/Black Wireless 2.4GHz Optical Hand-Held USB Trackball Mouse For Laptop PC/Wireless Finger HandHeld Rechargeable USB Trackball MouseThis seemed like a really good mouse on paper. It was rechargeable, wireless, had a trackball and scroll wheel and could be used as a corded mouse while charging. Even better, you could use it as a traditional mouse on a pad or in the air to help reduce strain on your right hand. In addition, it was small enough that one could've used it as a portable travel mouse, since it came with a velvet bag.

Unfortunately, none of this matters if the trackball doesn't work. Additionally, the build quality of the remainder of the mouse is poor. Switching between on and off requires either fingernails or some other item, because the switch is recessed in a way that suggests shoddy slave labor. The instructions feature poor english, though you are able to get the basic gist of what it's saying.

I probably would've been willing to overlook the poor build quality and instructions if it actually worked. Thank goodness that Amazon is willing to take this back and refund the cost of the shipping as well.

I hope someone else has better luck with this than me.

i use my pc as a total entertainment center,tv,music,video,gaming,etc. this mouse is used daily as a mouse + remote for over a year without any problems.one of my best all time purchases.

Sony Clie PEG-SJ22E, Clie PEG-SJ30E battery

Sony Clie PEG-SJ22E, Clie PEG-SJ30E battery
  • Capacity: 650mAh
  • Brand New
  • Replacement Battery

I PULLED OUT MY OLD PDA TO SEE IF IT STILL WORKS, WHICH IT DID. I CHARGED THE BATTERY BUT IT TOOK A LONG TIME. I ORDERED A NEW BATTERY FROM YOU, AND IT SHIPPED PRETTY FAST, AND WAS EASY TO INSTALL. I CHARGED IT AND IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. I KNOW IT'S OUTDATED WITH IPAD, AND IPOD'S, BUT IT'S GOING TO BE HANDY. NOT MY FIRST PURCHASE THROUGH AMAZON, AND WON'T BE MY LAST.

Buy Sony Clie PEG-SJ22E, Clie PEG-SJ30E battery Now

I'm not particularly inclined to the new smart phones and tablets and I only needed something to keep track of my tasks, and to hold notes. Thus, I picked up an old clié (PEG-SJ22). Its original battery was shot as expected, having been left drained for the better part of a decade, so I ordered this. It ships from the US despite the company being based in where appears to be Hong Kong, so it arrived quickly. Plus it was fully charged on arrival. As usual with lithium ion, the charge improved with successive charges until it reached peak capacity, so these days, I only need to charge it once every two days or so with constant use. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this.

3 Pack (Red/Black/Silver) Aluminum 4.5" Capacitive Styli for HP Touchpad

3 Pack Aluminum 4.5' Capacitive Styli for HP TouchpadI have too say I was disappointed in these stylus pens..They do work but you have to use to much pressure to make them work.I tried them all on 2 different tablets and they all required to much pressure to be comfortable to use..And the hassle of returning them for the price paid was to much so I guess i'll have to eat the loss.

Also the seller was realy slow on delivery..I did not use express delivery because I knew they would probably come in an envelope in the mail...But 12 days..Meh...Live and learn...

Product does not work very well. Works well enough for $3 but it not very precise. Ok if you just want to try it out for a toy but not if you need it for anything important.

We R Memory Keepers Paper Craft Stylus Tool

We R Memory Keepers Paper Craft Stylus ToolI don't care for the Stylus's that come with the score boards I have and someone recommended this one....and it is superior to any of the others...

I bought this to use in the Martha Stewart Score Board. I had a huge issue trying to use the bone folder included in that score board without cutting through the paper. This stylus is the answer. I no longer have to worry about how much pressure I put on the tool and I know it won't cut the paper. You do have to use to smaller head to use it in the Martha Stewart Score Board. Be warned it does not store in the provided spot for the bone folder in the regular size board. However, this is because of the curvy grip and I think that is well worth it not being able to store with the board. Great product and it should be the product coming with the Martha board.

Targus PA810U Stowaway Portable Keyboard for Handspring Visor Edge

Targus PA810U Stowaway Portable Keyboard for Handspring Visor Edge
  • Work Faster. Save More Time with The Stowaway Portable Keyboard
  • Quickly Type Meaningful Email Messages, Notes or Data All On Your Handspring Visor Edge.
  • Alleviates The Frustration of Relying On Graffiti to Enter Data or Pecking At Cough-Drop Size Keys with Your Stylus.
  • Folds to Fit In Your Pocket or Purse
  • Special Keys Link Directly to Visor Calendar, Address Book, to Do List, and Memo Applications

Nice solid construction. Clever way of folding up compactly so that it's about the same size as my Visor Edge. I have found two minor problems with using it.

Until you get used to it, attaching my PDA to the keyboard is tricky. This is probably due the way Handspring designed the connector and not the fault of Targus.

The other problem I have is most of the time when I connect the keyboard to my PDA the keyboard won't work unless I detach it, disable the keyboard in the Keyboard program, reattach the keyboard, reattach the keyboard, and then reenable the keyboard software.

With some experimentation I found that if I just disable the keyboard software before detaching the keyboard, I didn't have this problem. The drawback is remembering to disable before detachment, and enabling after attachment.

Aside from these two minor problems, I still regard this as an excellent product.

I transitioned from a Franklin Planner to a Visor Edge PDA.

I got my keyboard yesterday, and installed the software for the keyboard as soon as I got into the office, and took it to my first meeting of the day. One of my co-workers has the same Visor Edge that I have, and was floored when he saw how easy it was to use the keyboard. He travels alot more than I do, and lugs a laptop around. He is buying one for himself ASAP.

I was able to take more detailed notes faster than I usually do, and was able to synch and share my notes via e-mail.

If you have ever considered getting a keyboard like this for your PDA, I wouldn't hesitate a moment longer.

This is a handsomely designed keyboard for users on the go, and it's ideal for Palm fans hoping to avod the frustration of tapping or drawing one letter at a time. It's portable, works quickly, lasts for a long time with batteries, and folds into an appealingly small package. This adds a new level of functionality to your Palm, and it's doubtful that most users will go too far without it.

Of course, you'll need a flat surface to make this work, and you should beware of the dizzying variety of different keyboards, each with their own compatibiilities (or lack thereof). I don't "Palm" without it.

CE Compass Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAs

CE Compass Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAsIt connected to my IPhone 3gs(v4) the first time and it gives you a unique 4 digit pin on the phone's screen each time you pair so you don't have to remember the code. This keyboard is the perfect size (just longer than a dollar bill); any smaller and it would be too small and any larger it wouldn't be as portable. The keys are only slightly smaller than a regular keyboard which means you can place both hands on the keys with the j and f home keys (big hands could be a problem). It take a little practice because there is no shift key on the right side so touch typers must remember to shift with the left. Most of the special keys (;-::"?) are Fn keys not in their normal locations but all of the alpha and numeric are standard. The Keys lack the slant found on the standard keyboard which take a little getting up to speed so don't expect 80 wpm out of the box it's a learning curve. Your techo friends will be green with envy.

Sweet little device I must say. Works exactly as you expect it to, but I was baffled the first few days of getting it because of Windows 7 Professional. After the first install and driver installation, Windows kept asking for a manufacturer provided "pairing" code. This is crazy because the device does not come with a code. Turns out the Windows prompt is simply misleading, all you have to do is make up a code, say, 0000, hit enter on your computer and then type the same code and hit enter on your bluetooth keyboard. Voila!

I should also add that the bluetooth dongle that comes with this device works with other bluetooth devices as well. I have already successfully hooked my 2 Nokia phones, 5800 & N900, and a Motorola wireless STEREO headset (yes A2DP) to the dongle and they all worked like a charm. Like some other reviewers have pointed out, typing and scrolling on this thing takes some getting used to. Recommended!

EDIT JAN 21, 2013, The device is still going strong. I used it with my Android Nexus 4 device while it was hooked to my HDTV. I can't believe how long this thing has served me.

Easy to setup after 4 digit type into iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G and iPad.

Play, pause and volume keys works fine for iOS device.

Good for windows XP note PC with USB Dongle, too.

Only and the biggest problem for me is command key missing.

I can not change English and other language input without it.

If you know how to do, please help me.

Anyway, over all impression is good.

Update: 2010/9/25

I found that Fn + T & Fn + Y can be used for language switch.

Now, problem is solved. I would recommend this to all.

I bought this keyboard to use with my PS3 (slim). Typing a message using the PS3 controller is a pain. This little keyboard makes it easy. Plus it's small enough that it doesn't get in the way if you leave it on the end table when not in use.

Pairing the keyboard with the PS3 was simple. Just select the "scan for bluetooth devices" menu option and hit the recessed button on the bottom of the keyboard. Then type in the number and hit enter.

It also has an on/off switch on the bottom so the batteries won't drain when it's not in use.

Philips Bluetooth Stereo Headset Combo

Philips Bluetooth Stereo Headset ComboThe vox340 is a Bluetooth stereo headset with mic that also includes a separate blue tooth transmitter adapter with a 3.5mm plug that plugs into any headphone jack.

It works great as Bluetooth stereo headphones and beats all the FM and 900MHz headphones I have tried over the years. The range is about 25ft when going through the walls where I live. Since stereo operation only requires pairing with the included adapter, makes it possible to listen wirelessly to anything with a stereo jack. I have it plugged into my laptop.

When paired with a cellphone, the vox340 solves the problem of being able to listen to stereo without wires and still be able to switch to talking on the phone without changing to another headset (or removing the stereo headphones/ear buds to put a phone to your ear).

The device has a loop that is worn around the neck and the 2 inch pendant has volume control, on/off, and 2 other buttons that have tape deck like forward/rewind markings. Each ear bud branches off the loop a short distance to reach the ears. It comes with a charger; the batteries are not removeable.

I have only been able to get it to work with the adapter as Bluetooth stereo headphones since pairing is tricky with my cellphone and laptop, but I have not given up making it work with a MacBook Pro.

The manuals included were minimal and only in French and Spanish, no English. I had to get translation help to know what the various blinking LED modes mean and how to do Bluetooth pairing.

After searching and translation help, I found out:

* Bluetooth 1.2 device.

* Alternating red-green LED in the adapter means it is in pairing mode.

* Pairing mode is triggered by pressing On and Off buttons simultaneously and holding until it starts to blink.

* When the battery is totally drained, it needs to be paired again.

* Device can act either like stereo headphones or a hands free headset.

An insert into the package lists many cell phones that are compatible. To keep this review succinct, I will try to post more "missing vox340 manual" details elsewhere so others can benefit.

I'm very satisfied with this purchase. This is the only way to listen to your new MP3 Bluetooth phone in the car or on the go. Wear it around your neck, tuck the receiver under your shirt, earbuds in and your good to go. Listen to your MP3 phone (mine is a new LG Fusion w/ 1G Memory) and take calls. All without big, ugly headphones. Buetooth calls fade in an out a little, but not too bad. The MP3 sound from my Fusion is great with no fading at all. Also comes with a small Bluetooth transmitter for your non-Bluetooth MP3 player if you need it.

Buy Philips Bluetooth Stereo Headset Combo Now

The VOX340 is an exciting product that I've looked for with great anticipation. It will pair to my Macbook via Bluetooth or iPod through the included adapter. It will also pair with my phone at the same time. When the device works as intended, it's great! People call my phone and it interrupts my music. I answer via pressing the button on the receiver, and talk.

Unfortunately, it doesn't usually work like this. First pairing with each device goes well, but if you listen for a couple hours, the signal will eventually cut out and you'll be left wondering what happened. Did the devices unpair? Or did the battery run out? Did it just disconnect? What happened to my music? The manual, which I've read through many times, isn't nearly detailed enough. It states that when the battery on the headset is low, the led will flash red. It does not. The device just cuts out. The other problem with the manual is that there are a number of tones not including the ringtone that notify you of error states through the headset. The manual does not tell you what these mean. I still do not know what "recurring high tone" or "intermittent low tone" means. There is also no way to know which device I'm connected to at any given time. Am I not hearing my music because it's currently waiting for me to give a voice dial instruction to my phone, or because something went wrong with the connection with my macbook?

The signal itself is very weak. While walking to school I walk through some signal-dirty areas, and the music chops up or cuts out entirely. Usually I just wait it out and the music comes back, but sometimes it doesn't. The range isn't very good. If I walk 7 feet to the bathroom from my bedroom, the signal cuts out.

I love the concept of this product, and I will probably continue trying them out for a while, but the fact of the matter is, if my music isn't playing about 35% of the time that I expect it to be, this product isn't fulfilling it's duty as a set of headphones. While it's fantastically useful (especially for a girl!) to be able to put my iPod in my purse, and listen without cords tangling me up, it's obnoxiously non-functional more often than not.

Read Best Reviews of Philips Bluetooth Stereo Headset Combo Here

I've had it about 5 months and prefer its design to the earclip. The Pendant does make you look a bit like a 70's love guru and people generally ask what the blinking thing is if you have left it on. The "answer" button might be better if located on the earbud. The adapter makes it very versatile I plug it into my computer at work I plug it into the TV at home to watch without waking kids, I plug it into iPods. All audio sources from the adapter are automatically muted when a phone call comes in then it switches back to the audio when the call is completed. Generally it pairs quite fast and I had no trouble pairing it with my phone (Samsung Sync). That said currently I can't get the adapter to sync anymore the receiver is still synced to the phone but the adapter just flashes mutely. It was very good while it lasted and it lasted longer than an earclip I had but you would hope to expect more than 5 months use out of an item.

Want Philips Bluetooth Stereo Headset Combo Discount?

I've tried quite a few of the bluetooth headsets that can be used as stereo headsets as well as cell phone receivers. There are some that are more expensive that don't work as well as expected. The price point is great on these, and they work very well. I can use them as wireless headphones for my IPod, and pick up phones at the same time from my bluetooth-enable cell phone. Overall, the sound quality is very good, and battery life is exceptional. And comfortable to boot!!!

  • Includes adjustable stand for perfect viewing and can be placed comfortably for gaming on the go.

This is a nice durable case for the Acer Iconia. I just wanted to wright a quick review to clarify this case. It definitely allows you to connect the keyboard to the tablet when the tablet is in this case, however this case does not store the keyboard, it only stores/protects the tablet. If you are looking for something that stores both, this is not the case for you. However it appears to be very durable and does provide some support when you have the keyboard attached. It also seems to be cut nicely, all of the plug-ins and the screen are fully functional with this case.

I am extremely pleased with this product. It was far less expensive than other similar products, arrived well ahead of schedule and fits my Iconia W500 very well. The fit and finish is an exceptional quality for the price. Additionally, the inside of the front cover is a suede material so when the cover is folded back and you have your tablet on your lap, it wont slide off. That was a bit of attention to detail that I wasn't expecting for the price.

  • USB 2.0 compatible
  • Five year limited warranty

Buy SanDisk SDHC Memory Card Bonus MicroMate Reader 4.0 GB SDSDBR-4096-A10 Now

This high capacity card transfers its images to my computer a bit slowly using the supplied micromate reader which you will need unless you use the camera itself. I noticed that its transfer rate is about 2.5 MB/second which translates into a little less than 1/2 hour for all the images if you fill the card to capacity. I have other Sandisk SD cards that are much faster but I will use this card for travel when I am more concerned with capturing many pictures and am willing to wait to transfer them to my computer when I get home.

I received excellent delivery times from Amazon and its supplier for this product and have never lost a picture due to a Sandisk card failure or had any compatibility issues with Sandisk memory cards. I rate the card 3 stars because of its speed; otherwise the card and its reader work well.

I purchased this memory card for use with a new Sanyo digital video camera. The memory worked great. No problems in the camera recognizing the card to full capacity. The speed of the memory was fine for the standard definition video I shot. The included USB adapter made it very easy to move the picture and video files to multiple computers.

I used this 4GB memory card and took 850 photos, and 10 or so video clips on a 13 day tour of the UK with resolution at 2,272 x 1,704 with my Canon S3 IS. I only used up 1.5GB. No worries about a full card and the reader made it easier to plug directly into the computer's usb. As the fine print says though, the reader will only work with this 4GB memory card. I tried it on a 1GB SanDisk without success.

Replace. Strap/Lanyard for Leather Cases

Replace. Strap/Lanyard for Leather CasesThis lanyard is shorter than a standard lanyard. Also, it seems cheaply made and the shipping for a single lanyard was more than 6 dollars. So not worth it.

the straps were very strappy. they seemed a little cheesey, as the strap part that goes around your wrist doesn't seem like a quality material. they almost seem too "cottony" or "fluffy." It sounds weird to say, but its true. it just doesn't have a real tight/nylon feel to itand when connected to my 400 dollar camera, i wanted something better. but then again, i paid like a dollar for it.

This tablet ended up being better than I expected. As read in other reviews the battery life can be short (3 hours) when putting a load on it (internet, videos, etc) but as a reader and used for basic functions the battery lasts a good amount of time. The unit does get hot duruning usage because of the battery, but is not horrible. The option of the unlocked GSM version is worthwhile versus the non GSM version.

So far no problems. Love it. The version of Andriod I got was 3.2 Honeycomb. It detect my T-mobile prepaid sim card and was able to login to t-mobile website and show my balance. Still have to figure out how to send text messages. My son loves playing Angry Brids with it as well as reading children books using Amazon Kindle. As for Battery life, it does not last long (gave 4 stars). Couple of hours.

Update: 2/29/2012. Now having hardware problems. It would not charge using the charger that comes with it. Also having the same problem using the Docking station. Have to plug in/out a number of times before the yellow indicator light comes on (indicate it is charging). Couple of times it locks up & have to do a hardware reset (did not fix the problem). Also did a factory reset and restore data from backup. Now when I plug in the charger it always thinks it is the docking station and the speaker cease to function (charger or docking station). Only when i unplug the charger then the speaker works again. Call Dell mobility, they determine something is not right and will be sending back to Dell for repair (just got the return box today from Dell).

Palm-Sized Wireless 3 in 1 Bluetooth Keyboard/ Touchpad/TrackPad Mouse/Remote for PC Window 7/Vista/

Palm-Sized Wireless 3 in 1 Bluetooth Keyboard/ Touchpad/TrackPad Mouse/Remote for PC Window 7/Vista/XPThis item is a much-needed improvement over my previous set-up (full-size bluetooth keyboard and mouse). However, the design could use some improvements. The compact size is definitely the selling point and the reason why I would purchase this device again. Needing to constantly switch between the mouse and keyboard functionality makes using this item somewhat cumbersome. The lower price tag versus other top-brand devices, like the Logitech diNovo Mini, might be a good reason for the reduced multi-function capabilities.

The bluetooth connected without a problem and reconnects every time I turn it on. Range is not an issue. I consistently sit 8-10 feet from my PC whenever I use it. However, the bluetooth connectivity is intermittent sometimes causing a delay in the mouse movements. Turning the device off and then on again, typically fixes the problem.

The function of the keyboard does take some getting used it. Unlike a typical keyboard, the entire surface is flat, except for some subtle raised edges on the left side. The device is essentially too large mouse buttons (although only the right side functions as a mouse click while in touchpad mode), so to type you simply press inside the square of the letter you are selecting. Using the shift or function keys is somewhat awkward when pressing the same side, as you have to press them at the same time. I was surprised at how well it works, as it recognizes all of the keyboard's strokes without any issues, even when pressing multiple keys. After a little practice, I was able to type pretty smoothly with my thumbs. I haven't tried any lengthy typing tasks (such as writing Amazon reviews), but I'm sure it would be suitable, though not as effective as a standard keyboard.

As I mentioned, you have to switch between touchpad and keyboard mode. While in touchpad mode, the left side of the keyboard primarily consists of smartkeys (i.e. zoom in, zoom out) and the right side functions as the touchpad. The right side also functions as the left click (or "tap" on a typical touchpad), while there are dedicated left/right click buttons on the left side of the keyboard. I found that switching can be quite frustrating, especially when browsing the Internet, which often requires frequent mouse movements or scrolling and typing, depending on the task. I keep my full-size keyboard and mouse close by for when I know I will be switching between modes a lot, though I tend to avoid this whenever possible and just pull out my laptop instead.

In closing, I think this device was worth the money, especially when compared to its higher-priced competitor. I would recommend it, if you think you will primarily use it as a handheld touchpad with occassional keyboard usage, such as to control a media center PC. If you expect to do a lot of typing, I would suggest a handheld device that doesn't require switching between touchpad and keyboard mode.

Trackpad is right side of keyboard. Swipe finger for trackpad, Press Fn key for keyboard. Both sides act as mouse buttons. That is reason for crease. Bluetooth works smooth with Windows 7 & Fujitsu tablet.

Bluetooth wireless keyboard and touchpad that fits in your pocket is just perfect! Takes a little getting used to, but it actually works, has good battery life and range. Works great with laptop and projection presentations. It paired easily with Windows 7 without installing any software or drivers.

Like the handy and palm size tool for operation. The range is not so good, works fine for about 10FT.

The battery life is very bad, just runs out of battery within 4 hrs or so.

But very cool to show off though.

this is an awesome keyboard. it's wonderful for making your system into a multimedia platform. i use it as a remote control as it's difficult to type on, but it's not that kind of keyboard. i LOVE it. the battery has yet to die and i've charged it once in several weeks. once you get used to it, the mouse rocks.

HP iPAQ Pocket PC hx2750 - Handheld - Windows Mobile 2003 SE - 3.5" color TFT ( 240 x 320 ) - Blueto

HP iPAQ Pocket PC hx2750 - Handheld - Windows Mobile 2003 SE - 3.5' color TFT - Bluetooth, Wi-FiYou don't see alot of HX2750s, but let me tell you, its not because they are not awesome. Fastest CPU (over 600Mhz), most memory, BT, WiFi and finger print reader. I installed tomtom on it and now its also my gps.

The finger print reader is so much easier to use then a password, you swipe and your done, smooth!

2 things i would have liked.

1. VGA display

2. GPS built in, rather then needing an adapter.

But hey, no one is perfect.

I am an avid photo taker. I have thousands of photos from the past 40 years. A couple of years ago, I looked for something you could feed old photos into that would scan them into your computer. Nothing was available but then, a few months ago, I found the Kodak 4x6 Personal Photo and Negative Scanner (P460) at Amazon.com and ordered it. When it arrived I used the "quick start" directions and hooked it up to my computer. Within minutes, I was feeding old photos through the device and they were appearing in a photo file on my desktop. I fed photos through the thing all day yesterday. When I finally got tired of loading photos, I had scanned nearly 500 into my computer. The rate that this thing operates is amazing. You place the edge of the photo in the feed slot, it gives you a couple of seconds to readjust, then the motor quietly feeds the photo through, scanning it into your computer. Then, a couple of seconds later, the photo appears in the photo file on the desktop and the machine is ready for another photo. I tested it to see how many photos I could load in a minute and fed between six and seven during the sixty second period. The scanned images were often times better than the wrinkly old photograph I started with. The only thing that slowed me down was that I labeled each photo as it appeared on my desktop. The Kodak 4x6 Personal Photo and Negative Scanner (P460) did everything the ad claimed it would do and more. I was totally satisfied with it and could not say enough good things about it.

This is a wonderful, portable scanner. You could sit and watch tv, and scan your old photos on your lap, its ultra light. Other scanners do more robust projects. But if you just want to get a bunch of your old 4x6's on an sd card...this is the way to go. It does one picture at a time; but quickly. The quality was great.

The compact nature of this machine is what attracted my buying it. Set up was easy, but by the 3rd picture scanned, there appeared a thin white line down the middle of the scanned photo. Then I scanned another picture, it was OK. Another picture was scanned and there were two vertical lines. Some pictures were scanned with good result. Looking at the originals, there was no indication of why this would happened. Read the instructions again, and try the "calibrate" card, but did not helped.

Then I gave up scanning photos, so I tried the negatives. The result was acceptable, but needed some color correction. The machine prefers to scan the images into the SD card, and "supposedly" is able to scan directly into the computer with an USB and the software provided. I scanned more negatives into the computer, then later when I tried to do that again, it only was able to scan into the SD card, despite what I selected on the software screen.

So this was returned to Amazon.

Edited 2012-05-04 to add 2500 photos and still going strong! I also scanned in 25 business cards and 10 post cards. The post cards were mostly too thick and I gave up on them and will use the flatbed scanner for them. The business cards worked well except for a few that were extra thick.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I purchased right before the holidays so I could scan some old family pictures to give away on CDs. I am now on my 6th album and well over 1000 photos, and I can say that this little machine is still producing excellent scans (considering it is only 600 dpi).
1. Concerning one reviewer's comments about mysterious lines could be dirty photos. Some of the really old photos had not been cared for well and were dirty. I found that blowing them off with canned air helped to prevent dust from getting on the scanner glass. Also, I ran the cleaning cycle between each of those photos. That solved the lines on the photos issues. My non-dirty photos did not have this problem and I ran the cleaning cycle about every few hundred photos with those.
2. Get the 600 dpi version; MUCH nicer scans than 300 dpi. Of course, my flat bed scanner will do 1200 dpi; however, it is such a pain to do 3x5 or 4x6 photos on it, that it just wasn't happening. I have several thousand MORE 3x5 & 4x6 photos to scan. There is no way I would do it with my flat bed scanner. (I am the family historian and archivist)
3. As mentioned in a different review not having to be connected to a computer is awesome! I took this scanner to work and scanned in the break room at lunch, and have also scanned at the coffee shop while chatting with friends. Very cool.
4. I do not use the kodak software, so I cannot comment on that.
5. I still use the flat bed scanner for "extra special" photos where I really want to capture the detail; however, for the 99.95 % of the rest of my photos, this is the perfect solution. Also, I have some damaged photos, and those go on the flat bed, also.
6. I waited until I had scanned a significant number of photos before I posted a review so that I could be confident of its durability. I was concerned that after 500 or so scans, that maybe the little motor would burn out. I scan at least 100 photos during a session, and everything continues to be working well. And as stated before, well over 1000 photos and still going strong.
7. It is so easy to use that I will be letting my 7 year old granddaughter help me scan over the New Year's holiday. (Maybe she will become the historian and archivist for her generation?)
All in all, an excellent little scanner for the price.
After looking as several variants of this product from Kodak and Pandigital (the maker of Kodak's models), I chose the P460. It was very easy to set up, very quick, and very easy to use.
I ran a few pictures through without the included sleeve as the sleeve seemed inconvenient and I actually hadn't found it yet. It was tucked into the French part of the user's guide. Anyway, the first picture was fine but I very quickly started to get white strips in the images. I am guessing that dust gets trapped in the mechanism and you get a white line where the dust blocks the scanner's view of the photo.
I then cleaned the scanner following the manual's instructions and used the sleeve. The lines went away. Reasonably happy with the results, I set about scanning a whole bunch of photos. As the P460 scans onto the included SD card, I couldn't see the results. After a few dozen, I put the card into my computer to see how it was going. I was very disappointed. Slowly dust had accumulated in the sleeve. Even though I couldnt see the dust, the scanner could see it and the photos got increasingly speckled with white spots and curvy lines of lint. And then the white strips returned!
I also found the quality of the scans to be irregular. Some scans looked great, others looked all washed out. Some scans were mottled and fuzzy when the original photo was not. So I took a photo and ran it through the P460 and my regular flatbed scanner and then I compared the results. The flatbed scanner's quality was hands down superior. Not only was there no dust accumulation problem, the overall quality of the scan was much better. The P460's image comes over looking "flat" and obviously scanned. I was scanning at 600dpi in both scanners, but the image file size from the P460 came out 1/3 the size as the flatbed. The compression takes out a lot of the nuances in the colors of the image leaving a poor result. Another complaint is the the edges of the photo would still need to be cropped as the automatic job that is done isn't perfect and often leaves a white or black edge.
I am sending this back and now have no solution for scanning about 1500 photos other than by going the slow flatbed route :(
