Having recently purchased the terrific and super-compact Tungsten/T, I was anxious to protect it with a hard case. I expected the Tungsten/T hard case to be similar to my previous Palm V hard case -hard shell protection with minimal size -but was very disappointed in the size of the Tungsten/T case.

Sure, it's sleek and carries out the design theme of the Tungsten/T itself. It is also beautifully engineered, using a clever mounting which allows the Tungsten/T to slide open while mounted in the case (with the cover open), plus when closed a cutout allows access to the voice memo feature. Another clever addition is the dual SD card holder integrated into the inside cover (although I personally have no need to carry extra cards).

The size is simply excessive. The compact-sized Tungsten/T alone is only 4" tall by 3" wide by 5/8" thick. But in the case, the dimensions grow to 4-3/8" tall by 3-3/8" wide by 7/8" thick. The external hinge causes the width increase, while the 40% increase in thickness is caused by a combination of the SD stick storage and standoffs which give extra clearance from the screen and buttons. If you carry your palm in your purse, briefcase or jacket pocket, the size may not be bothersome, but if you carry it in a pants pocket, the size increase is significant. If you previously owned a Palm V (or Vx)with the minimally-intrusive Palm hard case, you may be disappointed with this one, as am I.

After all, didn't you buy the Tungsten/T largely because of its super-compact size? Then why does Palm think we want to significantly increase its size by using an oversized hard case for it?

The case is fairly well made and will no doubt protect your Palm reasonably well; however, I quickly grew disenchanted with it for several reasons.

First, the case does not completely enclose the Palm, a fact that is not evident from the pictures. When closed, the top and left side are still exposed, allowing access to the stylus, memory card, IR port, power button, audio jack and voice memo button. It's very possible, then, for the memory card or stylus to be ejected while the unit is in a purse or backpack, or for the unit to be turned on. While access to the jack and record button could be useful, it's unclear to me why the designers thought that access to the Palm's top was necessary. There's also a thumb cutout in the back panel for some reason, perhaps to aid in removing the Palm from the case. but it is hardly necessary.

Secondly, Palm's marketing material claims that the case allows you 'full access to all Tungsten T handheld features.' That's true only if you don't consider using Graffiti a feature, as you can't expand the Palm -and thus can not enter any data -while it's in the case.

Thirdly, the claimed 'spring loaded hinge and attachment clip to hold your device securely in place' is hardly that. The attachment clips are perhaps 2mm long. Pressing the power button or inserting/removing a memory card requires enough force that you will also unseat the Palm from the case.

There are additional flaws. The expansion card slots are polarized, for some unfathomable reason, so that cards can only be stored so that the card contacts are exposed and the label can't be seen. And the spring loaded hinge doesn't always keep the case completely closed. It sometimes gapes open a few millimeters, allowing any sharp objects that might be in your bag with it the opportunity to get in and scratch the screen. Finally, the packaging also claims that the case has a cushioned lining. You can probably guess that there is none; the case is aluminum over plastic.

I just got this hard aluminum case for my Tungsten T (TT). I absolutely love it. While considering which case to get, I checked out the leather case by Palm, too, but it didn't look nearly as good as this hard case. In fact, I thought the leather case looked poorly made in comparison.

Here are some reasons why I like the hard aluminum case:

1. You can see and feel that the case is custom made for the TT. My TT fits nice and snug in the case (which is a wonderful feeling).

2. The springs in the case and two rectangular holes in the back of the TT (take a look) are used to secure the TT in the case. It works fabulously. With a swift, effortless (I'm not exaggerating) move (gently pressing downward and pulling the Palm towards onerself), the TT can be removed from the case. This makes the hard case superior to the leather one, which uses clips on both sides like the cheap plastic cover that comes standard with the TT. The clips just don't feel as secure and tend to loosen after a while. I always feel like I have to be extra careful when dealing with the clips. Not the case with the springs.

3. The hinges that hold the case cover are great. The cover doesn't just flip open and dangle about. Sure, they're plastic, but they're also cleverly made so that you can open the case cover at 120 degrees or 180 degrees. When you close it, one gets a nice click.

4. I don't think the case is made of aluminum, which is actually a plus for me because the material has more give and is softer. The material is definitely more scratch-resistant than real aluminum.

5. My TT feels well-protected. Every part of the TT, except the top and the bit where the earphone jack and voice memo button are, is covered by the case. The fact that the bottom is covered is especially significant. This way, I don't feel like my TT will slide off and/or drop when I use it while standing and holding it more vertically.

I have to agree with some of the other reviews that this case might not be as ideal for lefties. And yes, the case increases the size of your TT, but it doesn't bother me. Honestly, any decent case out there would make your TT bigger. The other common criticism about this case is that one can not pull down and use the grafitti section when the TT's in this case. The solution is simple: PULL UP INSTEAD! In fact, the case is conveniently designed to make pulling up to expose the grafitti section easy.

The case takes a little getting used to, but once you know how to use it, you'll appreciate it.

I was wondering why I could not find this hard case anywhere that the Tungsten was sold, and I had to order it online.

Upon receipt of the case I figured out why: on the internet you can fool people by showing them a picture of an "aluminum" case and it looks aluminum. You can't fool people when the item is right in front of their eyes.

Do not be fooled: this case is made of ... plastic. The hinge is also made of plastic, and every time I open the case it feels like it is about to crack in half.

If you are left-handed, this case will not feel ergonomic in your hand, as the person from Ireland pointed out below.

When the item this case is supposed to protect is more rugged than the case itself, you know you have a problem.

It is a shame that such a well-made, classy item like the Tungsten does not have a decent case to hold it.

I rec'd. this case a few days ago, and overall am quite pleased. While I was under the impression that the case was aluminum, actually it appears to be vapor metallized aluminum on plastic (i.e., more plastic than aluminum). It holds the Tungsten very secure in the "closed" mode (i.e., w/ the slider closed rather than extended)and quite secure w/ the Tungsten's slider extended. Other benefits:

-2 slots inside the case for extra SD cards

-a cut-a-way on the side of the case for easy access to the voice recorder button

-open top for easy access to power button as well as to slide open (extend) the Tungsten

-it's still small enough to fit into a normal shirt pocket and not be too bulky / obvious

-a cut-out on the back to make extending the Tungsten very easy while still keeping it in its case

-a nice, "Palm" embossing on the front that's not too large / obnoxious

The case could be improved if it had the option of attaching a belt clip, was a bit more sturdy (metal), and was a bit less expensive. ... seems a bit steep for this case.

You get what you pay for. It does not have a clip above the screen camera. So when you open your mac it flexes the clips on the side. I would not advise buying this case.

I bought this little device which is small enough for my purse and I use it all the time. It is a terrific little thing because after I did all the research I realized I needed this thing. The problem is that it is a bit of complicated to get the thing open....I am sure that once I get the handle of it I would have no problem.

I purchased the case hoping it would protect my iPaq 211. The one review I read says it it a bit big or oversized. It is big, but it works. I am wearing it right now, and it does not get in the way, and it does do it's job; protecting the iPaq and contaning it. The only difference in the design would be to put an extended flap on it so the lid is secured on the bottom. I'm concerned that the magnetic clip which secures the closing flap might damage the screen if it is accidently bumped.

Just received mine today. The case is roomy. The iPaq 211 fits in easily. There is about 1/3in of space leftover inside the case. The magnetic snap works but was hit or miss as to whether it fully locked or not.

The beltclip is the weak link of this product. It doesn't sit snug against the case. Only the top of the beltclip is attached to the case. The bottom portion of the clip hangs free. There is enough of a gap between the bottom of the clip and the case that your belt could ride up into that gap instead of the actual beltclip! This will be a problem for people who put on and take off the case on a regular basis (or even over time).

The clip itself is suspect since it is just a piece of plastic that has been molded into a clip. It doesn't feel sturdy or durable.

In closing, the case itself is nice. It looks good. It does the job. The beltclip ruins the overall experience. Would not recommend to other iPaq 211 owners.

I purchased the case about three weeks ago for my iPaq 111 Classic. It's a little too roomy for the 111, probably close to 3/4" too big. The most important thing here is that there is no mention that it is a game-port device! A game-port is usually included on some sound cards, so be sure you check that you have one. ...for my Acer Chromebook. I wanted to use a nice leather messenger bag as my laptop bag, but it didn't have the built-it laptop sleeve that most messenger bags come with these days. I had this long awesome review and Amazon lost it of course. So here goes a second try.

This is my second Canon camera. Previously I have owned Olympus and Minolta cameras. I owned a t2i before this and used a t3i for weeks for testing purposes. I will try to cover most aspects of the new features and image quality. For testing purposes I used a Canon 17-40L lens.

Look and Feel:

Not much to say here for the look of the camera. Looks almost the exact same as the t2i, t3i. The battery grip and accessories all fit the same. One thing that is different from the t2i is the proximity sensor. On the t2i it was below the optical viewfinder and above the screen. On the t4i it is above the optical viewfinder. I use an eyecup(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Y06336)and it used to make the screen shut off on its own regularly on the t2i. This is a non issue for the t4i. There is also an added dedicated movie button in the power switch now.

Feel is a little different. The t4i feels more sturdy than the previous two rebels. The buttons are more solid and the selector wheels are improved. The adjustment wheel has better clicks and don't feel like you could easily flick it and change a setting by accident. The mode selector wheel is sturdier as well. I notice this because my t2i used to regularly switch to A-DEP mode when I would pull the camera out of my bag and I would get upset if I missed a quick shot because of it. I feel this will be a non issue with the new model. One issue I have is using my eyecup mentioned previously. The flippy screen catches on this and is just a slight annoyance but not a huge deal in the grand scheme. The rebel series always felt a bit small in the hand for me so I now use a battery grip which adds weight and substance to the camera.

Touchscreen:

When I saw rumors that the t4i would have a touchscreen I first said I wouldn't buy it. I figured this would be a gimmick and offer limited functionality. Then when i saw the press release and videos from Canon I changed my mind. I was sceptic of a couple things I will address here. I will start with the touch to adjust. Right now I feel kind of wonky using the touchscreen to make most adjustments to shooting in manual mode which is all i shoot in. But I consider this like moving from a blackberry to an iPhone. You are used to using buttons and the keyboard for so long you are lost on the touchscreen at first, but with time it ends up faster and easier. So in time it will end up faster for me to adjust by touch I am sure. It is in two spots already. ISO adjusting always seemed kind of odd to me on the rebel. The ISO button was placed so you had to kind of search for it and then do a three button combo to set it. On the touchscreen I find this easier. A couple taps and its done. The other major place it's easier for me is AEB. Bracketing on Canon is typically a pain. Hit menu, find the exposure selector, hit OK. Slide the wheel, hit OK again then press menu. On touchscreen you just press the exposure and tap a couple times to set the bracket.

Touch to focus was something that I didn't see coming from Canon. When they announced it my thought was it would be OK but nothing great. I figured it would be where you would touch on one of the 9 AF points you would like the camera to use. But thanks to the hybrid CMOS on the camera, it is truly a touch to focus. No matter where in the frame you press the camera will seek out and quickly focus on that area. This function works much better than I anticipated and I may use it in the future. At first I figured this would be a selling point for soccer moms but I was incorrect. I have not used the face detection follow focus to comment on it yet.

Image Quality:

This is the most important thing in the end when you buy any camera. How will my images look? The t4i does not disappoint. Thanks to improvements in the processor, focus, sensor and noise reduction software the t4i simply crushes the previous rebel cameras. We can start with the White balance. On the previous rebels and even the 60d, white balance was not so great. A yellow or tan-ish hue was almost always present and reds were soft. Canon has addressed this issue and images are clear and cary a nice contrast throughout the image. Auto focus I have touched on. Moving from 1 to 9 cross type AF points and a new added contrast detection sensor for AF makes a world of difference. Focus is fast and true and doesn't waste time seeking as much as before. In live view mode in low light, the digic4 and old sensors were pretty bad. A lot of seeking and misplaced focal areas. This is greatly improved with this model. Because of these reasons if you shoot in auto focus or any auto mode on the camera your images will turn out better.

Low Light/High ISO:

When the digic 5 was announced Canon touted this as being able to provide up to 75% better image quality over the digic 4. Of course I didn't buy into this because it's Canon and they were there to sell you. With the t4i Canon added the digic 5 as well as some new noise reduction software to boot. How did it make out? I tested these things against a Canon 60D. Same lens, same settings. In RAW at ISO 6400 the image quality looked at least twice as good over the 60D in terms of noise. At 12800 its laughable. That being said, on my t2i I would not use an image over ISO 1600 to print or display or sell. On the t4i I would gladly use ISO 3200 and at times 6400. Auto focus is so much improved at high ISO and low light that it's one of the first things you notice when comparing the camera to the 60D.

Battery life: Have not used it a full day to test yet. I imagine if you use full time AF it will go down slightly from the previous models.

Other Additions:

Scene Intelligent Auto....Used for one shot. Seemed to be OK but I am a manual shooter. I am sure this would work well for most beginners.

Handheld Night Scene....This takes 4 quick shots in a row and then in the camera combines them to reduce shake and noise. At 6400 ISO the image did result in less noise over standard shooting in RAW. This mode can only be done in JPG. I can see it being very good indoors at functions or for quick night shots outside.

HDR Backlight Control....This will do in camera HDR. It takes three shots of various exposure and combines them to improve highlight and shadow detail.This worked well and didn't produce too much noise in low light. It does not produce an image that people now days think of in HDR with blown out tones and surreal feeling to it. It is more traditional in where it just makes shadows appear less and corrects some blowing out by brighter lights in a frame. Works well for what its supposed to be. Also only available in JPG

Autofocus during video...Worked well and somewhat fast with my 17-40. Still allowed some noise from the lens searching for focus, but I wasn't using one of the STM lenses designed for this function.

EDIT: Since my initial review I have had a chance to test video with an STM lens and try out the face follow focus. The STM lens does improve focus speed quite a bit in video and is much quieter. There is still a little noise but may be something you don't notice depending on the scene you are shooting. Face follow focus works better than I thought it would. It can actually focus on an object as well as just faces. It follows through the frame very well and precise even in low light. It's nto super fast to focus but still works well.

The bezel around the touchscreen is uneven, but that has nothing to do with function. It's just poor design.

Feature guide...It makes touchscreen control unbearable. Just disable it as soon as you turn the camera on and save yourself the frustration of being told why you need to change ISO every time you touch the button for it.

If you were holding back or looking for a reason to upgrade your digic 4 based camera this is the one you are looking for. Compared to the t2i/t3i/60D this camera will offer you better image quality, focus, low light performance and ease of use. Yes the 60D is an "upgrade" over the rebel line but as of now, you'd only gain size, weight and one stop of shutter speed over the t4i with the 60D. With the t4i you'd gain better images, video, high ISO performance, touchscreen, shutter lag and a few other things. If you are a beginner or someone with a previous rebel looking for a nice camera you will find this camera to offer many things that you will enjoy in a first camera or an upgrade. This camera can make your photos better by taking the same photos as you would have with the previous models just with the improvements and that is what you should look for. The t3i was a small upgrade form the t2i and Canon has made up for it with this rebel.

I've only had my T3i for about 8 months when this came out but I read the details and decided to pre-order. The new T4i just arrived today (body only) and I've been playing around with it all afternoon using my 50mm 1.4 lens.

All I can say so far is WOW I'm very impressed with the upgraded autofocus, the touchscreen, as well as the new focus selection methods. There is a LOT less delay when you move the camera and what you see on the screen in Live Mode. Live Mode is MUCH "snappier" feeling. When you turned on the T3i in Live Mode, it would have a little rectangle you could move around the screen to make sure the camera was focusing on what you wanted. But with the T4i, this system is much more versatile. You can tap the screen to instantly set a focus point, or you can move the little box around (which is much smaller and more precise now and it will also FOLLOW your focus point when you move the camera around!), or you can allow for a more "general focus" by getting rid of the little box and letting the camera choose how it wants to focus, similar to how it works when using only the viewfinder to take photos. When you do the "general focus", a bunch of little boxes appear on the screen letting you know exactly which parts of the photo are in sharp focus the T3i did not do this and only relied on the positioning of the focus box.

The continuous autofocus during video worked very well on my 50mm 1.4 lens sure, the focus motor was a little noisy, but if you're taking scenic shots or something where you'll be replacing the audio with music anyway, motor noise is a non-issue. If you're doing interviews where the person is talking into a lav mic, it still won't be an issue because the lav mic will be too far away to pick up the motor noise. Motor noise is only an issue if you're using the built in mic, which I would regard as an "emergency only" mic anyway.

So all this means that you do NOT need an STM lens to use continuous autofocus the main purpose of the STM technology as I understand it is to make autofocus FASTER and QUIET. Video autofocus with my 50mm 1.4 is what I would call "fast enough" meaning, it is a bit slow compared to a camcorder (and noticeable on-screen), but not so slow that it should distract my viewers from the content too much. The only time continuous autofocus won't serve you very well is in dark rooms where it can't lock on to anything very quickly. My 50mm 1.4 lens hunted for focus in very dark areas so in situations like that I would manual focus.

Video is excellent quality as always. If you're used to the T3i video, this is just as stellar and tends to make people and scenes look better than they do in real life (when using the 50mm 1.4 at least) They've moved the video mode to be part of the on/off switch instead of on the mode dial which is where it was on the T3i. This allows you to pick a mode on the dial and then turn on video straight from there and make use of those settings. So you can do full auto exposure video, full manual exposure video, or Program Mode video very easily.

I also love the increased ISO to 12800 and the ability for the camera to take multiple exposures and combine them to help eliminate noise and camera shake. This works very well for my purposes. It's a small thing but something I've not noticed anyone else talking about is how much BETTER the shutter sounds. Somehow it's more satisfying and reminds me of the more expensive cameras.

HDR Mode: I've uploaded some of this camera's HDR photos to the image section on this page so you can see how well it did combining 3 photos at 3 different exposures the T4i can do this in camera with no software needed. It takes 3 quick photos and processes them for a few seconds and then the result is the image you see. The 3 originals do not get saved. To save them, you would have to use manual exposure bracketing which this camera does quite well. When using HDR mode, you only have to worry about getting proper focus and then everything else is taken care of for you. Some of the images can come out looking a little weird, but if you take 2 or 3 different versions at different focal points, you should get at least one that looks very nice and detailed with lighting that doesn't look too cartoony. One thing that surprised me was how, in one of my photos, a car unexpectedly entered the scene while it was taking the 3 shots. The resulting image had NO car at all. Pretty cool.

CONS: So far, the only thing I DON'T like about the cam are the buttons somehow they feel cheaper and more fragile than on the T3i. I'll update this if I discover anything else not up to par.

Overall, I love the camera and am very happy with my upgrade over the T3i. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the new STM lenses can do.

I upgraded from Canon T1i to Canon T4i. Having this T4i camera for 3 days and taking more than 1,000 pictures in different modes and environments, I want to write a few words for other fellows.

The main reasons for my upgrade are: 1) 9 cross-type focusing points; 2) Faster shooting burst rate; 3) Continuous video focusing; 4) Touch screen (very useful features). The picture quality is from very good to excellent. Color tone is realistic. Pictures from T4i camera look better than pictures from T1i camera in term of white balance and sharpness (probably from the benefits of 9 cross-type focus points). It is definitely more snappy in sport mode, focusing is fast and burst rate is good. I do like the continuous focusing feature in the video mode because of the convenience. It takes between 1 2 second to focus to new scene and you can hear the focusing noise from the lense. Definitely, there are rooms for improvement (faster focusing and reduce the motor noise during focusing) in video feature. I don't have the new Canon STM lense, so I don't know if it is quite or not.

This camera is good enough as an entry level and for people who to upgrade from their point-and-shoot cameras.

Most of my pictures were taken in raw format, then converted to jpeg format using Canon provided software. The lenses that I used were Canon 50mm F1.4 USM and Canon 28-70mm F2.8 L series. The memory card is ScanDisk 32GB, UHS-1 rated. The Canon T4i camera performs as advertised by Canon. My main interests are accurate and fast focusing with high burst rate (who is not???). Overall, this is a very good entry dSLR camera. So, I am happy with the product and intend to keep it.

You're thinking of getting the t4i, reading the reviews, comparing it to the t3i and countless others and pulling your hair out at all the pros and cons? Am I close? I'm a photographer and have used this, the t3i and its sony equivalent. I might be able to help. Here's hoping :) Let me start with an anecdote, (you've read enough technical jargon for now so consider this a breather)

I film eagles on the isle of Mull in the Scottish hebrides and the landlady I stay with was telling me about this other photographer who visits her little cottage (it's beautiful by the way, you should visit if you get the chance). So anyway, she is cooking tea , as she does if you ask her nicely. While it's cooking he shows her one of his photos, probably of a sea eagle catching a fish. Everyone wants to photograph one of those even though its on every other postcard in Scotland. Next to a highland cow looking over a gate its the top photo/cliche to get.. Anyhoo, she looks at the photo and says "wow that's great...you must have a brilliant camera" .

So they sit down for supper a bit later and its delicious, she is a great cook. He says "This is lovely...you must have some great saucepans!" boom boom.

But herein lies the real point of this camera. You know its the person behind the camera that takes the pictures but do you really know it? This and the t3i take pictures so good (if you have the skill) you could blow it up the size of front door but are you going to want to. The thing no sellers want to tell you is that for years, maybe 5 , all of the big names have been making great dslr. Since the nikon d40 perhaps. But you really want to know, if you bought this, would you be happy or buying a pup. Be reassured that neither canon, nikon or sony make chocolate teapots. They know how to make a great camera and this is one. It's biggest difference as you will have read ad nauseum , is the touch screen. is it worth it. It is if you like touch screens (I do). That's not flippant, it's how it is.

So the photos will be great and its a great camera, you've read other reviews so I won't duplicate what you have already read but one thing you may not have read is about the video. All the makers have got dslr right. No pups in sight, but video is a relatively new feature and Sony have tbh been leading the way. This camera sets to rectify that by having autofocus. A lot of places on the net, say it's not needed, you should be using manual focus. Nonsense. Manual focus is ok at times but can be a pain. Filming your dog on the beach for example..The autofocus on the t4i is actually pretty good. Not as good as a camcorder but pretty good. The slowest part is for it to get going. But when it's locked on its sound. Well worth having. So thats sorted right..err no, not really. This is the 650d 's killer feature. Trouble is, they left out the killer feature on the 600d. The 3x zoom with "no loss in quality". So here is the choice if you are buying this for video.

if you want you're 300mm zoom to be able to zoom to 900mm for filming sport or wildlife. It's the t3i for you.

If you love the idea of autofocus (or hate the idea of doing it the old fashioned way) its the t4i for you.

In my opinion if you're considering the other makes like Sony, it comes down to who makes the the lens you are likely to want. I know I have focused (blabbed on) about video but hey, there has been thousands of photo reviews already about iso , shutter speed etc etc. Nothing for me to add there!

So if you are considering using it for video here are a few "must have" things you will need to go with it.

So now I have spent ten minutes typing away, telling you how I like the t4i for video (I do) do me a little favour and click that you find this helpful. Unless you don't. Either way you will enjoy this camera but do consider the little brother the t3i also. We live in good times to take photos as there are so many great cameras and this is definitely one of them. One more thing I forgot to mention (and yes it is regarding the video) is that to get great video you need to use the right settings in the menu. Unfortunately these are counter intuitive and if you don't use them you may be under whelmed. If anyone wants them, comment and I will try to post a link

I have the T3i and absolutely love the camera. Its feature packed and has incredible image quality. I recently purchased the T4i (body only) and was thoroughly impressed with the first press of the shutter!

Cross Type Focal Points:

Not only is the shutter quieter and faster than the T3i's, the enhanced cross type focusing on all points combined with the new image sensor is WAY FASTER and MORE ACCURATE than the already good but not great T3i. I rarely use the outer focal points on the T3i because the focusing is slow and unreliable, its always been center point or manual focus for me. Not so on the T4i! Super fast focusing on all points and great image quality!

Touch Screen:

Excellent addition to any DSLR and it works wonderfully! Everything you can do from the Main Menu button on the T3i and the Quick Menu button can be done through the Touchscreen's interface on the T4i. EVERYTHING!

Constant Auto Focus:

I tested this feature with my existing lenses and yes, you do notice the hunting and hear the autofocus motor (which will vary from lens to lens) but I have not tested it with the new 4omm or the new 18-135 STM lenses, yet.

Custom White Balance:

I believe this is new or I just never used it on my T3i. A very nice grid displays from the Quick Menu that allows you to set a custom white balance. No, this is not just selecting AWB from the white balance options, thats still available but the custom piece appears to be a new feature. (I could very well be wrong about that one)

The ADEP option has been removed from the dial. I rarely used it but it was nice having the foreground and background in focus option available in the 'manual' region of the dial.

UPDATED/CORRECTED INFO:

Earlier I made a correction regarding the lack of digital zoom. Well, the final correction to my previous correction is this, there is in fact no digital zoom. At least none I can find that is recordable while in video mode. You are still able to zoom in and essentially magnify a selected area but when you begin your recording the cropped or zoomed area goes away and your standard focal length will be recorded.

The viewfinder has a slight amber color as opposed to the bluish hue on the T3i. I can't say I see if this is a benefit or not but its worthy of mentioning for those doing research.

A friend asked me how much I think the T4i is better than the T3i. The only answer I had was this, "I was considering getting a 60D to take advantage of the faster shutter and better focusing (9 point cross type). Seeing how well those improvements on the T4i work, I forgot all about the 60D!" I know the 60D is better built and has a better/larger viewfinder but for my money, the T4i fit the bill!

These are things I've found to be improvements and overall nice features about the T4i but you should do as much research as possible. DPreview . com is an excellent site for camera gear information but the last time I checked they did not have a hands on review, only some canned information from Canon. Another great, I MEAN GREAT site is The-Digital-Picture . com. Again, too new for a review to be there but I encourage you to go there, absorb and be a well informed consumer and a better photographer!

Now I wonder if that 70D rumor is true.....

My LifeDrive has been in reliable, daily service for 4 years so I knew the battery's days were numbered I'd already seen less capacity between charges. I've read a lot of reviews for products purchased on Amazon.com, including for this one. I notice a lot of people seem to have unrealistic expectations about what they're buying, for the amount they're spending.

"Rude kitty" posted that "This would be a great product if you could actually change the battery." Clearly this person doesn't know how to change a battery! I had no problems changing the battery and it worked exactly as expected! "Andrew J. Thorson" posted "The LifeDrive is a piece of junk. Give up don't waste your money. You will need to buy a special tool to change the battery if you insist on wasting your money." First of all, his opinion of the LifeDrive is irrelevant to the review for a battery for the device! Secondly, the battery comes with the tool! Another person who didn't know what they were doing. Do NOT consider those two reviews when making your decision whether to buy this product!

This battery was an excellent value! I went to a local battery store and they quoted about $40 to replace the battery! Considering what I saved by ordering the battery from HQRP, and what I got for the money, consider me a repeat customer! If I need to replace the battery again, which I inevitably will since I know how the LifeDrive treats batteries, I will look here first!

What more can I really say? The battery works as expected. It powers my LifeDrive, I can use my LifeDrive again, I'm a satisfied customer. I can go days, even weeks, between charges with how I use it (my Droid is my primary PIM device). I haven't had any strange battery-related issues since installing this replacement.

In the comments you can see Accessory Genie contacted me about my concerns. Please take note what they mention about the battery chemicals not being ready to charge a "new" battery/unit via solar. In a separate e-mail they said it's because of lower amperage of the solar panels, but supposed to work once cycled several times. I haven't cycled mine enough but with this information I will do so and attempt to charge by solar again and update post. I find Amazon reviews incredibly helpful in my shopping and am glad to see Vendors are also checking them out, and hopefully assisting customers. Will update when more info. As stated before, the unit works well for me otherwise. Even bought a small USB fiberoptic Xmas tree and used this unit to power it for hours -with no visible (25%) drop in battery status. Now, if only the solar panels will work -as that's why I bought it.

Order finally received last weekend. It was only down by one light (25%) when received. As instructed I plugged into AC power via USB and charged it fully. I then proceeded to charge smart phone 5 times (when about half charge) before the unit dropped to 2 stars. I was pleased with that result and it charges fast -seemingly faster than USB to AC. This was excellent. However I also ordered the two XL solar panels in this "deal" and picked a brilliant dry sunny day and hooked it all up properly (and indicators said correctly with test button) and shifted it over 8 hours to face the sun and it indicated charging but did not increase the power by one light in all that time. Nowhere do they mention 2 panels being unable to charge this unit at all on the manufacturers site or sellers. I would have been happy with just 25% (one light) increase but didn't even get that. I had planned to buy two more panels had I seen any results with the two I had. So, unit is ok, but if you're wanting this for camping or power outages you'll either have to try the 4 panels or will be limited to the charge you take with you or can obtain another way.

The unit is small and light (oh, the led flashlight is rather pitiful but could be useful I guess). So, thus far I'm happy with the battery pack itself but take heed on the solar panels. I may call the manufacturer and see what they say, will post here if I get any good info.

PRE-DELIVERY INFO I WROTE:

I ordered the Revive ReStore 9200 but was concerned as the "deal" from Accessory Genie (here on Amazon) said these XL Solar panels http://www.amazon.com/Charging-Extensions-ReStore-External-Compatible/dp/B008I64E64/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_6 were the right panels but the panels expressly say for 4000mAh only -as you can see. I went to the manufacturer Accessory Power's website and found the compatibility is for several of the Revive series so I recommend you go there and pick the product and on the left they have the "manuals" you can open and view compatibilities both on this product and on the 9200 -and both say these XL Panel extensions are compatible. Unfortunately this is not yet in stock and therefore I will have to wait for my items. The good news is the "deal" is approx $75 total cost (with shipping) and the currently available package (9200 and two panels) is $95 before shipping. For the 9200 they say you can add max of 4 panels to cut charge time (it doesn't have one built in as you can see).

Please NOTE I found another IMPORTANT item in the manual -charge smartphones ONLY with the 1 Amp port -the 2.1A port is for Tablets. Unfortunately it doesn't say if it'll fry your other devices to use it or give any other helpful info on WHY. I would think USB would handle either, but I don't know what a laptop puts out for Amps. It holds a whopping 9200 mah, which should be adequate for multiple phone chargings. It fully charges both my iPad and Droid using only about 2/3 of its charge. Solar charging with a single panel is a non-starter, though. One solar panel delivers only 280 ma, and at that rate it would take 33hours to fully charge it. I have owned the ReStore 9200 two weeks and already used it a ton.

I bought it for use at work (I am outside with few outlets) and for keeping phone and bluetooth helmet charged on long motorcycle and bicycle rides.

I charged it overnight when it arrived and have used its 1A to charge my Samsung Galaxy S and my GoPros (hero2 hd). I have also given juice to friends with iphones (no idea which models). No problems on any of these.

After researching power compatibility, I use the 2.1 amp to charge my Samsung Tab 8.9" but Tab says it is not charging and charges extremely slow. I believe this is the Tab not recognizing non proprietary charger, not the fault of the ReStore.

I bought this item as well as the ReStore Solar XL (6000) which came with a solar panel that was compatible and have more solar panels on the way.

I have charged the 9200 with the spare solar panel in full sun to late afternoon sun for a few hours last weekend and it did appear to charge, but given the high capacity of this battery and only one solar panel in a short time frame, it did not give much charge, but did add juice. I generally plan to charge this via USB overnight.

The unit seems well built and durable enough so far. Its a bit heavy, because it is so much battery power. But the size is as I expected. I carry it in an inner part of my purse all the time, so i plan to find out.

I myself have the HP iPaq 1910, which I'm very happy with. I recently bought a V35 for my cousin's birthday, and also got a chance to play with it extensively. So my comments are more of a comparison with the 1910.

The V35 is about the same thickness as the 1910, but slight longer and wider. While specs say that it's also slightly heavier than the 1910, you can't really tell the difference, since both are very lightweight. Because the 1910 has more of a metallic feel while the V35 feels more plasticky (which is not to say the latter feels cheap!), there's an illusion that the V35 is actually lighter than the 1910. The bottomline is, the V35 feels very good in the hand, and its non-shiny, non-slippery surface makes it much easier to hold than the 1910.

Both the V35 and 1910 have 3.5" diagonal transflexive screens, and both are bright and beautiful. I think the 1910's screen sports richer colors, whereas the V35's is very slightly washed out, but still much better than the display on my old Audiovox Maestro (made by Toshiba). Like the 1910, the V35's touch screen is very responsive, and the backlighting is perfectly even.

While both models accommodate SD memory cards, the V35 has the added advantage of being SDIO compatible, although, admittedly, there aren't many (or any) SDIO devices here in the States right now. Part of V35's system memory is accessible as "flash storage," but the 1910 still has a bit more useable memory onboard.

My most positive impression of the V35 is it's well built and feels good in the hand, vs. 1910's slippery, easy-to-break feel. The battery life is also longer than the 1910; my estimate is 3.5 hours on average (playing MP3 files from a Lexar 256MB SD card with screen turned off) vs. 2-2.5 hours for the 1910. The V35 also comes with a docking cradle and a slip case, both of which are missing in the 1910 kit.

On the downside the V35's battery is not user-replaceable. (The 1910's is, and it has a back-up battery to conserve data in case of a completely dead main battery.) Given that the typical LiIon battery has a recycle life of about 500 times, if you charge the V35 once a day, the battery will die out in about 18 months. Of course, in reality the battery probably won't completely die by then, but its capacity/useable time will definitely be shortened considerably. (Just ask any Palm V user who bought the Palm more than 2 years ago.)

If I had to pick my Pocket PC again, I'd have a very hard time deciding between the iPaq 1910 and the V35. If you don't have to have the smallest and sleekist Pocket PC, I highly recommend the V35 for its longer battery life, included cradle and case, and SDIO-capable expansion.

In the end, though, you may just grab whatever is cheaper. :)

I could go on and on about what the Viewsonic V35 does, but I feel it is more important that I compare it to other pocket PC's in it's price range. I did a lot of research before I bought my Viewsonic V35, and I ended up basically up between the Dell Axim X5 300Mhz. The Dell turned out to be slightly cheaper, but it did not come with a cradle nor did it come with a leather case. You would eventually have to get at least the leather case, or your screen won't look too good after a while. After buying all the stuff for the Dell that would come with the Viewsonic, the Dell would be more expensive. Basically, I only considered models with a transflective screen since anything else looks foggy and milky. So that left me with the Dell Axim X5, the HP 1910, and one of those overpriced toshiba's. When I looked at the HP 1910, it had a slightly better looking screen than the viewsonic, but the viewsonic was a close second. I got to play with the Dell at one of their kiosks and their screen was okay, but not as good as the Viewsonic's. I read the reviews for the HP 1910 (really a compaq) and many customers complained about stability problems and the unit turning on by itself and draining it's own batteries. This unreliability is consistent with compaq products. So I immediately ruled out the 1910.

Since all of these pda's are running windows, there isn't too much difference except in stability and portabilty. The Dell Axim is by far the bulkiest pda I have ever seen which is another reason I ruled that out. Even with free shipping I received the V35 in only a mere 3 days. I was impressed with it's size and stability, as expected. I have not had problems with the V35 so far and I've had it for over a month. If I played MP3's continuously, it lasts just over 3 hours, which doesn't sound too good, but keep in mind this is better than most other PDA's. In all other activities, such as writing notes and scheduling things on my calendar, a whole day of this didn't come close to running low on battery, so I assume games and music eat up a lot of your battery, otherwise it is great. The directional pad is great for games (not so on the Dell), and there is a plethora of games available for free on the web. I use my pocket PC both at work and at school and the pocket pc always comes in handy. I have used Palm OS 5 for a few years and can tell you that it looks EXACTLY THE SAME as it always has. Palm hasn't bothered to be innovative at all and has rehashed the same nonfunctional operating system 6 times. To be honest, Palm OS hasn't changed much in the past 4 years and is not as flexible as a pocket PC. I couldn't find a reason to stick with Palm anymore. I had no problems synching the V35 to my PC, it was fast and took about a minute. Overall, the V35 is a reliable, cost effective, and has a beautiful screen. Viewsonic has had a good reputation for its other products, and so far lives up to it's name.

I bought the iPaq H1910 before I had this unit. The 1910 had a great screen but I just didn't like the feel of it for daily use and the buttons weren't very easy to push for navigating or gaming. Finally I just felt it wasn't the right one for me so I returned it for the Viewsonic V35. Boy did I make the right move! This unit is so much nicer to hold and use and the screen holds it's own against any other Pocket PC. The applications work great, battery lasts a long time and this thing is quick. It has no problems playing movie trailers, mp3's or anything else I throw at it. Plus it comes with a cradle (something the iPac h1910 did not)! Overall it's definetly the best Pocket PC for the money. Thumbs up to Viewsonic for an excellent product.

Summery If you are looking to enter the Pocket PC world, the ViewSonic V35 is the best low cost entry point.

It came down to the iPAQ 1910 and the ViewSonic V35 and I went with the ViewSonic. It had all the features I required and you can't bet the price. You will give up some RAM and a shorten battery life to the competition. But to me these where minor tradeoffs for great performance (larger processor), great screen, small size, light weight and it comes with a cradle (the iPAQ 1910 does not).

I had the device for over a week and my only complaint how the device fits into the cradle. It's a little shaky and not as good a fit as my old Palm VIIx. You just have to be extra carefully when docking.

There is not doubt in my mind that Pocket PC is the way to go. It is much more friendly than Palm and it has the interface and functionality that you are already familiar with your PC.

I switched from a Palm V. What a difference! No eyestrain anymore. The screen is bright, the colors help with reading calendars, contact information and e-mail. With an add-in 256 MB SD card there is plenty of storage for music and documents. It fits nicely into a shirt pocket, even with the semi-hard case, and is light enough not to notice. It has been running very stably and so far seems surprisingly sturdy. I suspect that the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h1910 is similar but the specs show a lot shorter battery life. The Toshiba e310/e335 is also similar but a bit larger and the screen did not look as bright. The Dell Axim X5 is heavier and larger but can accomodate a CF type II card in addition to an SD card. Regardless of your choice, I suggest getting one of several utilities that are available to keep track of memory and battery charge on the Today page.

These absolutely did not work for me on my iPod Touch. I'd had great success with the Pogo Stylus Ten One Design Pogo Stylus for iPod touch 2G, 3G (Black) and decided to try these out as back-up -leave them around the house, stick one in my purse, etc.

Where the Pogo slid across my screen (it has a spongy tip), these styluses were like putting on the brakes (they have a rubber tip). Even when I tried using them for things that didn't need any sliding motion, like typing, they still didn't work unless I pressed VERY hard (to the point where I thought I'd crack my screen).

I've since gotten an iPad, so I don't even need a stylus anymore (because everything is HUGE on the iPad : ), but if my review helps even one person save a few bucks and the wasted time waiting for something that's not going to work (didn't for me, at least), then it's worth the time it took for me to write this review. : )

By the way, there are different styles of the Pogo stylus, not just the one I posted (which is the one I'd purchased).

Don't buy this! You get what you pay for. It only works for typing, sometimes, on my iPod Touch 2G (latest version with 3G iPhones) does not drag, and does not even activate two-tap features all the time. Amazon should ban them, for sale in different configurations on site.

I have tried and used many. These to me are the best. They work well with the screen and have the soft bulb end. I bought others that looked similar, but had a hard slanted end and they don't work nearly as well. I have also used the pogo ones, but this are just a little larger and easier to use. They will fit in the pogo clip if you have it, a little tighter than the pogo but it does work. You can't beat them for the price.

Stylus pens, what can be said? They showed up weeks later, almost a full month, so if you need them now, order somewhere else. I will say they do work on the Kindle Fire. During the long wait found out I can use my finger just fine, and I don't lose it.

I wanted a quality cordless united and it appears I got it. It came with all the accessories including the adaptor for use in the US. I was surprised as that is not how I read the ad. So far the unit works great, seems very powerful ( handles ice cubes) , and feels like quality, all with no troublesome cord. If it lasts it will be worth the price.

These are pretty cheap. The sides stick out too far as well and need to be trimmed to fit into the recessed hole for the 220v plug. They also don't hold onto the 110v prongs very well. Did I mention they are cheap? In price and build quality. Guess you get what you pay for.

The stylus works fine but the case itself is an aqua color, not blue like in the picture. The screen protector is absolutely horrible though. You put one side on and then pull off the protective covering on the side you touch which only makes more air bubbles. I had it on perfect and then pulled off the top protective layer and it created about 20 tiny air bubbles.

I thought this would be great for my kids, but it is much to heavy. If you drop or slide the other side of the pen, you could damage your screen. If just adults use should be fine.

Even though the written description for this item says it is 4.0 inches long, the one I received is 4.5 inches long. It is a hefty little stylus which feels good in your hand. It's like a piece of fat chalk or something.

This is my second stylus for the iPad 2. This one works much better than the first one, but only cost me $6 with free shipping (the other one was around $11 or so).

It is OKAY. It worked well for a few months, if that, and then the USB contact in the hard drive started to become loose from the internal circuit card, causing it to be intermittent whenever I plugged it into my computer. It's quite annoying when I'm in the middle of a show, and when I move the hard drive, the show cuts out.
