PC Cable Tester (BNC, DB15, DB9, DB25, RJ45, USB, IEEE-1394)

PC Cable TesterThe "PC Cable Tester" can test cables (and adapters). It works by sending a signal from the transmit side of the tester through the attached cable and displays what pin(s) the signal is received on at the other end of the cable. The signal is sent from pin 1 to pin n (where n=number of pins in the connector) sequentially. The transmit pin is indicated on a 25 LED display. The receiving pin is indicated on a 36 LED display.

The tester can be set to "manual" mode where the operator causes the instrument to step through each pin once per button push. It can also be set to "auto" mode where it will automatically step once every zero to 10 seconds (continuously adjustable).

The receive side has the following connectors: Centronics 36 pin, DB25M&F, DB15F, DB9M&F, DB15F (VGA), 1394, USB[B], USB[A], BNC and RJ45. The transmit side has the following connectors: DB25M&F, DB15M, DB9M&F, DB15M (VGA), RG45, BNC, USB[A] abd 1394.

The unit runs on a standard 9V battery or a 9V external power supply (not provided).

The unit is well made, easy to use and offers a lot of function for a reasonable price.
