Cord works really well with my 3gs and otter-box commuter case. After three weeks, holding up very well thank you very much! Quality as good as piece of crap short cord apple sends with the phone! What a flipping joke that short cord is! As for the folks who say won't work with their 4g, my son in-law tried it on his and it worked just fine. The long cord will sync & charge from your laptop or PC and works just fine with the car charger & wall plug as well!

Please look at my product photos I have added to compare the two cords to come to your own conclusions. Apple, you should be ashamed of your-self for supplying such a pathetic cord!

Update August 2011: About four months out the cord did fail. The end that plugs into the phone became lose where it goes into the outer grommet. The seller sent me another one with out any hassle at all and it's still working today after almost a year.

I was so excited when I found this product ..until it broke after two uses. I had it plugged into my iphone 4 over night and when I went to remove it the next morning, a piece of the charger that plugs into your device broke off. I was not being reckless when I removed it, I was actually being very careful as I am very careful about anything having to do with my new phoneas anyone would be for such an expensive piece of technology.

Luckily, I was able to carefully remove the piece from my phone (with tweezers) without any damage to my phone but as far as the charger goes it was completely ruined. Fortunately for me, I purchased it from a seller fulfilled by amazon and was able to return the product for a full refund.

Do not buy this product if you expect to be able to use it more than one time.

This cord does not fit the Lifeproof case. The part that plugs into the phone is a little larger than the ones that come straight from apple. However, it works the same and works good as long as the user doesn't have a Lifeproof case.

I bought this so my wife could charge her 3GS while playing Words With Friends. It's claimed to fit an OtterBox Defender but I couldn't get it to work until I trimmed it down with a grinder. It's fine now. Note: If you have to trim one of these, remember that the plastic is very thin and hollow so don't trim any more than you absolutely have to. I bought two so I will trim more gently next time. Two stars since it works after modification.

The cable will separate at the phone plug end. You'll need to carefully separate the inside piece from the outside piece with care as to not break any electrical connections. Drop a dab of Super Glue on the sides of the inside piece then shove it back in gingerly. Also put a ring of Super Glue around where the cable goes into the housing on the same end so that the cable doesn't get pulled out over time.

If you make this modification immediately (Super Glue) the cable will be fine and work perfectly without breaking. I did it on 2 of the 3 cables I ordered and no problems now. The first cable broke but it happened before I knew to Super Glue it.
