Though not included with the actual Reader, this charger is extremely useful for a) quick charging, b) recovering from complete battery death and c) charging in situations where there is no computer available.

I bought this charger after noticing that the reader would not charge through a wall plug to USB converter (like the iPhone/iPod and other gadgets use). This seems to be a design flaw of the Reader but not one of the charger. I have been pleased with the performance of the charger and have found that in some cases where I have let the battery die completely in the reader, normal computer USB supply is not enough (or perhaps I wasn't patient enough) to reanimate the device. However, immediately on plugging in the reader charger, the reader rebooted and was charged quite quickly.

I recommend the charger highly but am disappointed that it's an attempt at nickel and diming for accessories by Sony.

I pre-ordered my Sony 600 and a charger I received THIS charger immediately from Sony, and have now used it on my 600. So, until they update the information you should know that this is the correct charger for the 600 as well as the 505.

I love having it because I can read and charge at the same time, and I can slip it into my suitcase when I'm traveling without my laptop. I currently keep it plugged in next to my bed, and when I'm done reading at night I plug in my reader. It's freshly charged and ready-to-go when I grab my reader in the morning.

I use a similar strategy for my Ipod and cell phone it keeps me from worrying about what has been charged, because all of them are fresh each day.

I have only had my reader for about a month and I have only used this charger once. I believe a charger should be purchased for any handheld item such as MP3 players, cell phones and such. Having this charger makes charging the batter (which rarely gets low in power) quicker and easier than plugging it into the computer.

Although the reader can be charged by the computer when plugged into the USB port, the charger works a whole lot better and faster. Well worth the price.

This product is a must have if you are on the go and do not have access to a computer. I love the fact that I can charge my PRS505 and read at the same time (something you can't do with the USB). Is it pricey? Yes. Should it have been included with the reader? Yes. With that said I still think it's a good product and well worth my 4-star rating.
