The first issue is that there is no power LED or other indication that the unit is synced because the sync light goes out when it connects (By the way, There is also no CAPS LOCK light, but I knew that when I bought it.)
The second issue is that you must use the tablet only in landscape mode, and the tablet just sits in the slot with nothing to secure it other than gravity, which brings me to the biggest issue I have with it: stability. That short, narrow prop behind the tablet makes it precarious, especially if the surface on which you set the keyboard isn't perfectly flat or has an incline or decline. If you have the keyboard on a flat, level surface, and don't touch the tablet, or only touch it lightly and infrequently, you shouldn't have a problem. But don't dare try to set the tablet in portrait mode, as the keyboard is too light and the center of gravity is too far back on the tablet to keep from tipping over. In other words, forget using this in portrait mode unless you have some method to keep the tablet and keyboard from tipping over backward.
The next issue is the engineering of the clamps that hold it on. Chiefly among the issues with the clamping system is that the clamps are not very strong; I don't trust them to stay together well. Another issue is that if I wanted to slide the tablet down to make a flat unit, I cannot just lower it. Instead, I have to rotate it 180° so the top of the tablet is on the space bar side, otherwise the clamps interfere with the power button; on the other hand, when I want to close it, I simply tilt it forward and slide the bottom to the back of the keyboard. Surely this arrangement could have benefited from better engineering.
The good news is that it is aluminum, which makes it very light, very thin, and offers additional protection. I believe the keyboard + tablet is still lighter than an iPad! Also, I've typed on worse keyboards. As far as looks or aesthetics go, it looks pretty nice when it is closed or when it is in use. And since it is Bluetooth, I can use it with other devices, such as my cellphone.
To summarize, the stability issue is close to untenable, but the lightness, thinness, and the fact it does work pretty well means it gets three stars in my book.
On the whole, I'll keep it. But I'd still rather have another solution. This product works great at frist, but the function and spacebar keys will break then the rest of the keys start going one by one..Bought this keyboard for use with the galaxy note tablet. It also serves as a cover for the tablet screen when not in use. The keyboard has a good look and feel and pairs easily using the Bluetooth feature. Only drawback is that when the tablet is sitting in the keyboard mount it is not locked into place. I recommend this product overall as it works well. The keyboard is reliable and holds a charge for a loooonnnnngggg time! I like the way it snaps on my tablet; it makes a professional case. I bought a neoprene case to carry the tablet/keyboard just for ease! That's perfect. His style fits well with the Galaxy Note N8000 tablet and keyboard is very smooth, plus a silver presentation very nice
