There are several reasons why the previous reviewer might have complained about weak audio quality: perhaps s/he was not sticking the device to anything and instead trying to use it as a traditional speaker, or maybe they were sticking it to surfaces that tend to absorb vibration and therefore dampen the sound. It's possible they got a defective device. Whatever problem they were having, I didn't experience. The sound quality you get is extremely variable depending on the properties of the surface you stick it to but then, that is what you would expect from this device. Some surfaces are better at communicating the vibration from the device than others, and some vibrate more easily at higher or lower frequencies, meaning you'll get better high pitch or low pitch sound with different surfaces. But the device actually works quite well.
The previous reviewer was correct in saying the cords are short. For the next generation of the device, I recommend giving us a little more room between the audio source and the Rock-It. It is difficult to move my iPod around for instance, to pick a new song without having to worry about the Rock-It as well. But this is only an inconvenience, not a total failure of the product.
In brief, this device is lots of fun to play with, and is great for letting you play audio loud enough to be heard by several people without having to carry much equipment. It is not, however, going to produce audio of a high enough quality to pick up the subtler tones of finer music. After all, whatever you stick the device to probably wasn't designed with audio in mind. It's hard to make Bach sound good out of a trash can...This speaker is so much fun. We love finding new things to use with it. So far, we like the microwave and a file folder box the best. It definitely needs a fresh battery, or to be plugged in to sound good, but I wasn't really expecting bose-like sound to come out of it anyway. We saw these on the show Shark Tank and I have to say, they were much cooler on the show. They're okay, at $20 bucks, they are a neat novelty and fun to play with... but if you want want speakers, BUY speakers. :-)We saw this one "I want that" on DIY and thought it was the coolest little speaker. We have a couple of them now and they are used mainly at work. I have tried it on several things and it just depends on what kind of sound you want. We took it on a road trip once but couldn't find a spot on the car that would make it loud enough. I would suggest getting a little box or something like that for road trips. Other than that it plays good music when attached to my computer, hollow box or some kind of plastic jug.Weak sound, short cords and overall a useless item. There seems to be nothing nice to say about this product. I will be returning mine ASAP
