The problem is with the connector.
The base has a magnetic connector that includes three spring loaded pins. The pins extend to make contact with the three cupped connectors on the PB side of the connection.
After many uses (and probably a few where the PB was inadvertently put in upside down hey, it happens) the springs stop working very well and they no longer make a connection.
If the middle one fails, you will know because the PB will not get that charging lightning bolt. However, if either of the sides stop working, you will still get the lightning bolt, but it will NOT charge.
This problem is well documented on the Crackberry website. It has nothing to do with the battery percentage accuracy which is a totally different issue.
At first it will be an intermittent problem, but then it will be permanent.
For the price, they really should have tested this better. They will end up with lots of returns and will have to redesign the stand end of the connector.
As noted, when it was working, it was spectacular.BlackBerry Playbook Rapid Charging Stand 12V 2A NA Version work very well to charge . I like the magnet hook up . You can attach in the dark.

Thought I had to have this for my PlayBook, but realize that I could have gotten along without it. It does charge faster than the USB wall charger, but so far that hasn't been a factor for me.Want BlackBerry Playbook Rapid Charging Stand 12V 2A NA Version Discount?
