Lenovo Multimedia Remote Keyboard N5902

Lenovo Multimedia Remote Keyboard N5902Got the product and plugged in the receiver into my Win 7 laptop and it worked. Love the size of the product, love that on/off switch to save battery and love the scroll. The only minor complaint is the mouse is a little small, could have made it bigger. Works great for what I need it for.

This is my second Lenovo multimedia keyboard(first one 5901) I am using with my HTPC. There are three improvements from first iteration.

1. Backlit option

2. scroll area below optical touch pad

3. touchpad clickable(left click, like black berry)

now the bad

1. Range is very poor(claimed 30 feet, realworld max 10 feet), worst than first one

2. Trackball is much better than this optical pad(very tricky, swipes are not always recognized)

3. Keys requires very hard presses. also key strokes miss

4. usual shift+ keys are combined with Fn keys.

finally typing this took good 20+ mins.

I thought I will give another try, but it is a mistake.

Buy Lenovo Multimedia Remote Keyboard N5902 Now

if you're like me and connect your laptop to your tv almost everyday, then this product is a blessing. no need to buy full-sized keyboards and mice. very small package has both in it and are quite responsive.

the only reason why i didnt give this 5 stars is coz the product itself could be improved by lenovo. the range is weird since sometimes if there are large objects in the way, you may notice lag in your inputs. other than that, its a great accessory.

The N5902 keyboard works well in most every respect. No real set-up is required. Just plug the bluetooth adapter into a USB slot and you are done. The back lighting is just what I needed to see the keys in a darkened theater room. This feature alone is enough to recommend the product, however I have not (yet?) found a way to keep it lit though pauses in my typing. The keyboard fits nicely in your hand, and if you are a thumb typer, it couldn't be simpler to use. The optical touch pad is a matter of taste. I have used the previous model (N5901), which had no back light but did have a trackball. For me the track ball was easier for big moves/navigation or flipping through web pages and screens etc., but fine control was frustrating. This newer model, N5902, solves that problem, but the touch pad doesn't feel as substantial or "real" as a trackball. Last point, the battery life is excellent.

Setup:

Monitor connected to a laptop used for streaming tv, playing movies, and netflix.

Distance:

About 10 feet away, as I sit on my bed.

This product is good for my purposes, and I am able to have the full functionality of a keyboard.

The mouse trackpad could be improved, otherwise this is a solid product.

NOTE : the farther you sit away the less likely you are to see the text/font size anyway, so I am not sure why people want a product designed to be awesome at 30 something feet, when you are so far away you wouldn't be able to see any of the web browsing text or chat windows.
