rooCASE Executive Portfolio (Black) 100% Genuine Leather Case Cover for Google Nexus 7 Tablet (Autom

rooCASE Executive Portfolio 100% Genuine Leather Case Cover for Google Nexus 7 TabletI've had this case for a few weeks and so far I am very pleased.

The overall fit-and-finish is very good. The exterior leather is well textured and feels thick and robust. The interior has a felt-like texture with pockets for business cards or thin paperwork. The zippers are weighty and feel like solid metal. The "kick-stand" used to prop up the case for hands-free use folds out and then magnetically attaches back against the case with a satisfying snap. There's a loop on the interior "binding" of the case that is a convenient place for a stylus.

The outer case is very professional looking. I regularly take it into business meetings.

There's an interior case that goes around the tablet and attaches via velcro to the main case. I've found this to be an excellent feature. It allows me to pull the tablet out of the main case for better portability while still keeping a protective housing around it. The best of both worlds, really. What you actually get with this product is a snug-fitting protective leather sleeve that fits inside a professional-looking portfolio case.

(For those of you who are general aviation pilots, this case should work well for you. You'll have a business-like portfolio cover for everyday tablet use in business or pleasure, but you'll be able to pull the tablet out of the main case for use in a yoke or other type mount, while still keeping it in a protective leather sleeve.)

There are a couple of cons:

1) I've had difficulty velcro-ing the tablet in the correct position to make the auto-wake function work. This is a non-issue for me, because I prefer controlling when the tablet wakes independently of my opening the case.

2) The fit of the tablet in the inner sleeve is extremely snug. This is sort of a pro and a con. It keeps it from jostling around, but I've found that on my case the tablet is slightly off-center. If you're OCD, it might bother you a bit.

3) If you're expecting to fit much more than the tablet in this case, you'll probably have difficulty doing so. The front-to-back width of the tablet takes up most of the case's space.

Beyond those very minor points, you'll find this to be a quality case with a very professional appearance, that feels robust enough to protect the tablet. Though I won't try it, the case feels solid enough to protect the tablet from harm when dropping it from waste-high onto a tile floor.

I agree with most reviewers that the overall quality of the case is very nice, is well made, tablet can separate from main case (nice), like the kick stand though I haven't used it yet, and I believe good protection if dropped.

Buttons are also partially covered but that is easily managed and not a big deal, just a FYI.

The overall quality of the case is nice and is very durable, however after some time the encasing for the tablet digs into the inner part of the case and makes an unsightly mark. The flap on the inside also is constantly touching and pressing on the screen when the case is closed and there's no way to put anything behind it that's thicker than a sheet of paper. I'm probably going to take the part out as I never really even use it.

Attractive and substantial case. Tablet fits in a thin sheath that velcros into the outside case, so you can unzip it, then remove the thin case from the thick zippered one, and use your table that way. If its zipped up inside the case its VERY well protected. They have an elegant, professional look, if there is such a thing.

Both my kids have Nexus 7's. One used it heavily for gaming, the other much less so. They used their devices for a couple of months, then we got these cases. After being used in the cases, the gaming tablet died after two weeks. I learned later that they can generate a lot of heat when they are working hard, and its possible that this case helps retain enough of that heat, to the detriment of the device. Look out for that.

This case is a little more expensive than a lot of other Nexus 7 cases I've seen, but it's well worth the small amount of extra cost. The use of leather throughout the case is worth the extra money alone.

Pros:

Tablet fit into the inner sleeve is *perfect*. The ability to remove the tablet/inner sleeve from the outer case and still have a protective sleeve around the tablet is awesome.

Automatic wake/sleep via the case opening and closing is a great feature. Like a lot of other reviewers here, it took me a few times to find the spot to velcro the inner case into the outer case where this works reliably. Once I did, it was smooth sailing.

The inner sleeve can be placed in portrait or landscape mode while on the stand. Very nice.

All Nexus 7 ports and buttons are easily accessible. This should be a no brainer for a custom case, but some other cases I looked at were lacking in this department.

All materials (leather, heavy duty zippers etc.) are excellent. Who doesn't like the smell of leather? I love it!

Small pockets inside the outer case for business cards, credit cards, screen cleaning cloths etc. Nothing too thick though. There's also a loop for a stylus or pen.

Cons:

Just one: I would have liked the ability to place the case at multiple viewing angles (as it is, it's 45 degrees or nothing.) Of course, I knew this before buying the case, so I can't complain. It's not a big deal to me anyway, as my tablet doesn't spend much time on the stand.

Misc:

Some folks might not like that this case makes the whole affair a bit larger, but I love it as I can see and feel the extra protection that the overall size of this case provides the tablet.

Bottom line:

Best Nexus 7 case I've come across by far, if you can live with the few minor negative points above. Highly recommended!
