Switch is compact and requires no external power. All cables are included. I've had no issues switching between my XP and older Windows 98 system. Switching is instantaneous. Signal to the monitor is clean and the picture is crisp and clear. The unit does require cables be attached on all four sides, which can make placement and cable clutter an issue, but that's with any switch box. The keyboard switch commands are fantastic, so you can tuck the box out of sight and forget it if you want.

The only problem I have with this unit, and why I cannot give it five stars, is the mouse support. I'm using a Logitech Trackman Wheel trackball, and my computer detected it as a "wheelmouse" after attaching it to the switchbox. It also does not support high report rates on the PS/2 port for the mouse. I have my PS/2 report rate set to 200 so I can have the smoothest movement possible, but for some reason the switch is limiting the PS/2 polling. Gamers will definitely have an issue with this. My less than elegant solution was to just get a second trackball and plug that into my other computer, and not use the switchbox for switching the mouse. The unit works fine this way since it's powered by the keyboard PS/2 port.

The box does have support for switching one audio out and a microphone, which is a plus if you just use desktop speakers or headphones as opposed to a surround sound system. You can even disable automatic audio switching so that you can listen to music on one computer while working on another.

Overall I'm satisfied with the unit, though I would prefer not having to use a second mouse.

Although its billing said that it would work with 98, it cannot handle the monitor for 98, pixillates the heck out of pictures and don't get me started on the mess it makes of print! So I have to go behind the computers and disconnect the monitor plug from the switch and connect it to the 98 computer whenever I want to use 98. It is a pain, but not as much of a pain as switching all the cords would be.
