The scanner that arrived appeared to be in "used" condition. The seal on one side of the box was peeled away and the components looked as if they had been removed from the plastic and then re-packaged (the plastic bags weren't sealed or taped). The scanner itself was also dusty and had fingerprints. Anyway, as long as it works I don't care if someone tried it and returned it.
Very easy software installation on Win7 Pro 64-Bit. I don't have a CD drive so I just Googled "download DocuPort 467 drivers" and the first result took me direct to the manufacturer's download page. Drivers are all up to date including 64-Bit drivers for Win 7!! I downloaded, ran the .exe and clicked "next" a few times through the wizard and all was done. When I plugged in the scanner it was immediately recognized and the driver loaded with no problem. The driver includes TWAIN drivers so you can scan directly into your favorite image software or document management software.
Another link on their download page allowed me to download and install their "ScanWizard DI" software which includes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and barcode reader functionality to create searchable PDFs. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with the DocketPORT 467 since it kept saying it couldn't find any scanner. I uninstalled it.
I looked on the CD label and discovered it includes a software package called "Presto! PageManager" Since I don't have a CD drive in my PC, I looked on the Docucap website for it but it was not available anywhere on their website. In the end I had to install "Burn4Free", create an ISO file from the CD on another computer, then mount the ISO using PowerISO in order to install the PageManager software.
Next, I tried to install the user manual but when I clicked on that I got a "File Not Found" error. No manual was included on the CD. I searched their website but unfortunately the manual wasn't anywhere on their website. I did a Google search and found a copy of the manual on a retailer's website.
OK, now I started scanning. Right away I discovered that the "Scan to PDF" function is pretty much useless. After you scan each page it asks you for the document options (whether you want one multi-page PDF or individual files for each PDF). It doesn't seem to matter what you press, you never get a multi-page PDF. Also, it's pretty annoying to have to respond to a dialog box after EVERY SINGLE SCAN, especially when you have hundreds of pages to scan. In the end, I decided to default to JPG images.
Even with JPG images, I was getting a dialog box every time I pressed the scanner button. It would ask me what program I wanted to use. I chose "Presto! PageManager" each time but it wouldn't "remember" that choice. I searched the manual but there was nothing in there about how to set the default. In the end, I called tech support but got voice mail. I left a message and they called back in about 30 minutes. The setting was easy to do but completely undocumented. Once I had it set up I could load a document, press the button, it would scan to JPG and then I could load the next document and press the button. I don't need to click or press anything on the PC...it's fully automated.
One other minor annoyance is that it leaves a black margin on the right edge of the scanned image if your document is not as wide as the scanner. I'm not sure why it can't auto-crop but there doesn't seem to be a setting for that. I'm only using this to submit expense reports, so it's fine for that, but if you were scanning photos you'd have to manually crop them all afterwards.
I think the reason it's so non-user friendly is that the company's main business is making these scanners for OTHER companies to package together with their own software. Software and user interface doesn't seem to be their strong point.
Anyway, if you want a simple scanner that will scan lots of documents to JPG easily, this one will do fine. If you're looking for fancy stuff like OCR or multi-page PDF scanning, you should probably spend some more money!
