This hub works fine. Nice looking, no problems with it, except the design is really, really stupid.
On the front, you have 2 ports. They are UPSIDE DOWN.
Every time you plug a USB cable in, you have to remember the writing on the cable faces down (unlike other ports).
If you use a USB drive which has the indicator light on top, it faces down, and you can't see it in operation.
Dumb design on an otherwise excellent product.Like the style but that's about it. Cheap plastic with no substantial weight to hold in place. I will have to velcro it to my desk. There are certain devices I have connected to it that won't show up. The ports on the front are upside down, so when you have a flash drive with a push out button on the top, it won't be so easy to push in. What were they thinking! They could also add a little space between the ports since it is vertical. They are so close together there is hardly room to maneuver because some device cords are thicker than others. And, what happened to quality in this world. Oh, I know I noticed when I was unpacking it that it was made in China. I just received it, so I will give it a little more time before I decide on returning it. I'm really getting frustrated with products being made so cheaply. I feel like I'm going to break it just by pushing in a flash drive.all my mboard usb ports were running at usb 1, and i couldnt get the 2's to operate as 2's ... i bought a 2.0 card, and once installed, all my mboard ports stopped working ... the card i bought had 5 ports and i have seven devices, so i needed a hub ... i bought this alurtek 7 port hub from fryes, unfortunately i paid $8 more than the amazon price ... the aluratek works perfectly with a mix of devices that require usb 2.0 (scanner, printer, video camera) and devices which do not require 2.0, like keyboard and trackball mouse ... i have tried dlink hubs before and did not like them nearly as much as this aluratek (the reason i bought this at fryes was so that i could look at the documentation and perhaps avoid the problems i had with the dlink)... i also recommend you check out the Tripp Lite u222-007-r hub which looks exactly like my aluratek ... another reviewer said the two ports on the front are upside down -i am only using three of the four in the back of the hub, but i doubt if upside down would bother me -i will probably use one of the front ports for my cellphone charge/file transfer ... good luck!
