I got this (and the Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N Smart Repeater (SR300)) to extend my wireless network to my workshop, at the back of the yard, about 250 feet from the house. This is far enough away that I don't get even the smallest amount of the WiFi signal from the house. I wanted to watch TV while I work, and I also needed to be able to use a phone there. I could run Cat-5e wiring underground, but that would require digging a trench across the yard, and also running the Ethernet cable from the router inside the house to a demarcation point at the exterior of the house, which would be quite a bit of work. Using this antenna--two of them, actually, one at the house and one in the workshop--I'm able to get a very strong and fast network link in the workshop.

It's incredibly easy to set up. The antenna is designed to be mounted outdoors, and they recommend using 25 feet of Amped Wireless Premium Outdoor 25ft Antenna Extension Cable (APC25EX) to connect the antenna to the Smart Repeater. Instead, I connected the Smart Repeater directly to the antenna with the short cable that comes with the antenna, and both are sitting in a closet at the edge of the house. I would probably get an even better signal if I mounted the antennas outside, but it works just fine for me with the antennas inside. In the workshop, I aimed the second antenna in the general direction of the one in the house, and it works great. There are a few trees between the buildings, and the signal still gets through.

Without doing anything to really optimize things, I'm getting 2.5 Mbps downlink, and about half that uplink. This is slower than my router's upstream connection, but it works just fine. I'm really enjoying having the network and phone in the workshop.

I purchased the AD14EX directional antenna and the SR-10000 range extender to get a signal to another location on my property 300 feet from my house. I used the SR-10000 as a bridge and amplifier since my router is in the basement and getting a cable from there to the second floor where I had line of sight to the target would have been problematic. After setting up the range extender (see separate review), I hooked up the directional antenna, temporarily mounting it on a 2x4 clamped on a portable workbench in front of an open window in the upstairs bedroom. I took my laptop that had the Wi-Fi Analytics Tool installed and walked down to the workshop and WOW my signal was as good as it had been in the house before I installed the range extender. I immediately started streaming ESPN video without a problem. With a lesser signal from the house or with more distance to the remote location, I may have needed a second antenna or booster to establish a hotspot but in my case I don't think that will be necessary. I've ordered another cable to finish the installation so I can mount the antenna on an outside wall and connect to the range extender at a suitable location inside.

First of this is a directional antenna so you have to be careful to point it in the general direction of the router give or take 5 degrees off.

If you are using this on a router and you live in a neighborhood with say 15+ routers in a given radius then you will experience loss of gain as the other routers will interfer with yours. Also, if you point it through trees then you will loss some dBm depending on density.

I have mine currently pointed through my window, 3-4 pine trees and through part of a house and still managed a 10% increase in signal strength. When I turn it the exact opposite way then I will entirely lose then network since this is a Directional antenna. Pointing it in differnet directions also gives me more networks. Pointing this at an angle other then 90° where 90 is perpendicular (opposite of parallel) to the ground (ground=0°) helps if your antenna is mounted up high otherwise you will just skim networks that have to go through roofs.

One more thing to note is that the 30° of coverage starts at the ends of this; in other words if you make a straight line from each side then add on 15° that is where you coverage starts and in between also has coverage. Diffrent from a Yagi since those start along the elements and don't have added inchs in between.
